This place was great, went there before a bucks game. The portions are very large, so had to take the leftovers back to the hotel and miss the tip off. Not part of the plan, but food was to delicious to walk away from. And it's not even expensive at that, just that good. Will return for the food, and maybe even another game.

Diner Review №2

5 stars. Authentic. Delicious. Can easily split into two day’s worth of yum.

Diner Review №3

My dinner companion and I ordered carryout. The food was delicious, and I would very much like to return perhaps to dine in. I am glad I learned that the spiciness of the food is adjustable. For this alone, I am grateful 😀

Diner Review №4

Seven of us enjoyed a fantastic meal at the king and Thai. We were walk-ins and we were seated almost immediately. Our waiter was attentive, friendly, and made great recommendations. We shared several appetizers and everybody was delighted with their entrées. Will definitely be back.

Diner Review №5

Unbelievable. It's been many years since I've orded/dined at this restaurant, and this experience served as nothing but an affirmation to never give my business to them again. I ordered the basil fried rice, priced at $17 for just rice, basil & onion- that's IT. Paid an extra $5 for shrimp, and an extra $1.50 for peppers. For a total of $24.00. What I got- rice with a mere *4* shrimp, that's IT. Not even jumbo shrimp but literally the smallest shrimp you can buy. Zero peppers. Barely even any egg either!. $23.50 for literally just a plate of rice with basil and a few onions. That's IT. A complete rip-off. This place is unconscionable. They exist just to rip people off. If you want good, decent valued Thai food I highly highly recommend EE Sane. Or probably literally any Thai restaurant except King & I. Shameful. no wonder they only have a 4.0 rating on google-- shoulda done my research!

Diner Review №6

I have eaten at King and I since they opened in 1988. Probably 100 times. Excellent across board!!

Seated promptly but no one acknowledge us for 15 min. Left and didn't eat. Food smelled good but didn't get a chance to try it.

Diner Review №11

We ordered the $35 fried snapper. Honestly, It was horrible. We waited for long time and itye fish dish finally served. It’s apparently over fried and almost not edible. Only noodle and fried rice are decent. Service is good. Will I go back again? Definitely no.

Diner Review №12

Just finished my meal. Maybe my expectations were too high as I usually order from Ee-Sane but the food was mediocre. It wasn't bad, but just not great. Meh is how I'd describe it.

Diner Review №13

Stopped for dinner after a show at Turner Hall. Everything we ordered was so incredibly delicious; I ordered crab rangoon and larb, my husband ordered beef satay and fried rice. We devoured half of it by the time I remembered I wanted to take pictures before we dug in. The staff was so friendly and helpful, even with them being as busy as they were. We'll be sure to stop again!

Diner Review №15

First choice for Thai in MKE area and in top three take out spots for us. Owner is bright spot of community, service always excellent, and can not beat the Volcano Duck!

Diner Review №16

Great service (Lee), even better food. Loved it. Would highly recommend!

Diner Review №17

Amazing service, food was absolutely phenomenal. Wish I found this the first day in Milwaukee rather than the last night!

Diner Review №18

Absolutely amazing food and service! The food was ready in less time than expected, 100/10!!

Diner Review №19

Ordered the crab rangoons and they are the most authentic crab regions I’ve ever had! We also ordered the Panang curry and the noodle soup which were amazingly delicious! Service was impeccable and oh so friendly. Would definitely return.

Diner Review №20

This is one of those places that just does it right . It's delicious Thai dishes done well. Everything I had here was excellent. From the Appatizers like the Chicken Satay to the Volcano duck to the Thai Iced Tea. Everything was done beautifully and the service was great. The atmosphere was also very nice. It had some really beautiful decore and is great for anything from a date to a family meal. It can get a little pricey, but the protions are such that even someone who eats a lot will get two meals out of their order. Most dishes reheat well too. Its one of those places where you feel every dollar you spend is truly reflected in the quality and quantity of the food. No gimmicks where the cost is passed to the customer. No giant menu where everything is mediocre. No nonsense. Just good food with professional service in a lovely establishment. Will go again and would recommend highly to anybody looking for good Thai food.

Diner Review №21

Had a good meal here. Food was good, and the owner of the restaurant was nice and funny. The restaurant was medium-sized with many tables and also a bar. It for sure was on the pricier side, however.

This restaurant is also a Thai Select restaurant (meaning it is Thai-government certified), fyi

Diner Review №22

Ally was a very kind and gentle host.

Diner Review №23

Delicious food and frienely staff.

Diner Review №24

Best Thai restaurant in Milwaukee! Great atmosphere and service. Best pad Thai I've had and the duck curry melted in my mouth! Absolutely amazing.

Diner Review №25

Re the one-star review below and the owners response.
I was the other party.
The food was truly appalling, with the main courses being particularly bad. The deep-fried red snapper was entirely inedible.
We did complain to our waiter. She immediately went away and brought us a bill for over $90

Diner Review №26

Possibly the worst meal I have ever experienced in a restaurant .. please avoid !!!!
Myself and my friend both orders starters and mains .. the starters (beef jerky and cocunut prawns) were deep fried to almost a crisp .. both were tasteless
But the mains were even worse
I ordered beef and cashew nut .. it had so much black pepper in it it was almost inedible .. I managed two or 3 bites and was enough for me

My friend orders red snapper .. it was deep fried to nothing but a dried out carcass with almost no fish meat on it .. i can honestly say it was the worst looking meal I have ever seen served .. we had to cover it up it looked so bad

Diner Review №27

Food was pretty good. They're spiciness levels aren't accurate if you're used to really spicy food, though. I got their highest and didn't feel a thing.

Diner Review №28

Nice staff but terrible food and way over priced.

Diner Review №29

Good was AMAZING and service was so lovely. The atmosphere was wonderful. Would happily come here again!! I got the Pud Thai and it was absolutely the best one I’ve ever had. Would definitely recommend this to anyone in the area.

Diner Review №30

I ordered this off of Uber Eats often. Their Pad Thai is good, and highly customizable. Their food is spicy when you ask for it. Their spring rolls are also crispy and delicious.

Diner Review №31

Diner Review №32

The employees are nice and they're helpful
It is a tad bit expensive, but you'll get your money's worth!

Diner Review №34

Great atmosphere. Friendly staff.
Delicious crab wontons.
Soups were watered down.
Calamari tasted like rubber bands.
Fish and shrimp were not fresh.
Rice had no flavor.
Short staffed - lack of responsive to easy requests.

Diner Review №36

was staying at the hyatt regency. wasn’t the worst thing i ever ate, but i wouldn’t necessarily recommend the place. got pad thai

Diner Review №37

It was our 1st time eating here and it did not disappoint! All of the food was good and amazing. Staff were friendly and accommodating especially the lady who took our order. Would recommend ordering the satay and volcano chicken!

Diner Review №38

I was in Milwaukee over the weekend for a race. After I finished grabbing my race gear - I needed to find something to eat. I saw this spot across from my hotel and decided to give it a try. When I walked in, two ladies (who I guess are the host) were having a conversation and completely ignored me. I smiled as I walked in, but I wasn’t acknowledged at all. If another restaurant was open in the area, I would have walked out and went there instead. After being ignored the time I was standing there, I went to the young lady at the bar to try and place an order and she let me know I would do that at the host stand. I let her know that the ladies ignored me when I walked in, and once they heard that then all of a sudden they decided to speak to me and show me the menu to place an order. The food was mediocre and the chicken was dry and overcooked. The only good thing in my order was the veggie spring rolls. The pad Thai was a little lackluster and rubbery. After the ladies blatantly ignored me, I should have took that as my sign to go somewhere else, but couldn’t wait for anything else to open.

Edit: While I appreciate the response, please do not make excuses for your staff. When I walked in, there was a lady sitting at the host stand and another lady standing by the menu talking to each other. I’m standing right in front of them - they definitely saw me and decided to ignore me.

Diner Review №39

What an incredible place. Went here on a recommendation from a friend and had a great time. The food was delicious, the service was polite and friendly, the atmosphere was pleasant. Try the tom kha soup!

Diner Review №40

Wife and I walked in at 8pm on a Saturday night. We were seated right away, but the wait was long. The waiter was very harsh, almost irritated that he had to take our order. The food was about the same as the service. We ordered chicken fried rice and pad thai. The meat was very dry. You can tell the meat was pre-cooked and stored aside from each dish and added later because it had no flavor or seasoning, and it was just tough overall. We ate the rice and noodles but left the chicken. Average to below average experience.

Diner Review №41

The green curry is ABSOLUTELY Amazing. I never had green curry this good. Highly recommended

Diner Review №42

Diner Review №43

Terrible the last two times we’ve eaten there. The quality of the meat and sauces needs some attention. Used to be a favourite but not anymore.

Diner Review №44

Delicious curry and rice!

Diner Review №45

Some of the best thai in the MKE area. So impressed with their red curry. I absolutely love coming here!

Diner Review №46

We went with a large group and had excellent food and service. The wait staff was very attentive as well as friendly and the food came out quickly and was hot. I would definitely like to go back and try more things off the menu.

Diner Review №47

Food was seasoned good. do not come here if you don’t like a burst of flavor in your meal. :)

Diner Review №48

Dissapointing

Diner Review №49

Back in Milwaukee for a college reunion and HAD to make my first stop at King and I and they did not disappoint! I was accidentally given the wrong spice level on my noodles and called to see about a refund. Not only did the woman work with the owner and management to get me a full refund, but they also redid my order and delivered it to me for free! Customer Service like no other here. 10/10 all around!

Diner Review №50

For twenty dollars per entree, I expect my takeout container of curry to be more than 3/4 full. My wife’s Pad Thai was full (also $20) but mine was between 1/2 and 3/4 full. Very disappointed for the money. It seems like someone got lazy for my dish in particular. Flavor of both dishes was fine, though.

Diner Review №51

I enjoy the food from here and have both dined in and ordered it through Door Dash. The atmosphere and staff were also great when I dined in. The only downside when ordering Door Dash is the order has been messed up a few times.

Diner Review №52

Thai noodles spicy very good

Diner Review №53

All in all, it's a good restaurant. I'd give it a B to B+. It's pretty pricey however. The wait staff has been good the 5 or so times I've gone there. I've only had the seafood dishes.

Diner Review №54

Always great dinner plates. Very tasty. Good service.

Diner Review №55

Loved this food! Authentic Thai. Everywhere I go I try it and I was not disappointed.

Diner Review №56

We got the volcano chicken. The flavor was OK but the chicken was dry. The rice was old.

It's like a Chinese takeout.

Diner Review №57

Very easy to get a vegan meal! All staff we interacted with were amazing, and the overall experience was great.

Diner Review №58

Great restaurant right downtown and had vegetarian options for my family. Will be back again!

Diner Review №59

Diner Review №60

King and I is always a great dinner! Highly recommend the Volcano Chicken! Wait staff is very pleasant. A super great place to enjoy a nice dinner!

Diner Review №61

My best friend and I went for the first time food was exceptional and their service was delightful. Very festive inside for the holidays. Great place for date night, an evening with friends, and a fun night at their bar.

Diner Review №62

Amazing experience! Our server was great, food was great. We had the Pud Thai, Panang Curry, Fresh rolls, and Chicken Satay. Everything was perfect!!!

Diner Review №63

This is our favorite restaurant for the last 13 more years since the restaurant was at different places. But till today, the taste id's the BEST with great service. My favorite place

Diner Review №64

I will not be returning to this restaurant, first the food is not that great, the waitress continued interrupting us as we tried to eat our food then when we asked for the bill, there was a discrepancy in the price after she realized it she rushed back to do some corrections, then she returned back with it lower than the original price, and asked if we were leaving a tip, which I thought was very tacky, you don't ask your customers if they were leaving a tip...

Diner Review №65

Today's dinner did NOT disappoint. Tom Yum Gung soup was delicious, Volcano chicken was crispy and delicious and the Pud Thai was tasty. Our waiter Lee was awesome, quick and friendly.

Diner Review №66

I ordered Pad Thai and fried spring rolls. The spring rolls were excessively oily, lacking proper oil drainage. Additionally, the noodles in the Pad Thai were overcooked, resulting in an undesired texture. Lastly, no parking lot for the restaurant.

Moreover, the service was bad, particularly from the host at the entrance. Furthermore, the restroom facilities were not functioning properly. Considering the overpriced nature of the food, this experience has left me with no intention of making another trip to this restaurant.

Diner Review №67

My friends and I went to this restaurant last night. The waitress came very late and disappeared for a long time. We waited for an hour and only one starter and the Thai teas came. We asked the waitress so many times but she kept saying it would come in 5 minutes. We were in a rush so we asked for takeout. We waited for another 10 min and it was still not there. We were so confused so we stood beside watching the ppl cooking in kitchen and none of the dishes we ordered was not even made. We checked with the waitress after another 10 minutes, she told us those dishes are already in process of making, but she then told us she completely forgot to put our order into the system when we wanted her to check when would our meals be made in order. We waited for out an hour and half and the order was not even into the system! We were so upset and we wanted to get a refund for the meal that we didn’t get. The waitress again said the meals are almost done so we could not get the refund. Then they rushed for the cooking and all the meals were done in 5 minutes. This is one of my worst experience ever! Only the Thai curry tastes fine and the rest were not very good.

Diner Review №68

Great food but terrible service today, which we were surprised with. Didn't receive our drinks for over 50 minutes! And food came out at different times. We were then rushed to eat. We even made a reservation.

Diner Review №69

The food was wonderful as always. However, the service was surprisingly bad. We were seated at 5:50 and did not receive our drink order until 6:40, even with several asks. Regarding the food, we were served our plates at different times; and an item was forgotten.

Diner Review №70

Got the crab rangoon which was garnished with generous 1 (one) leaf of lettuce. Volcano chicken was dry and with raw vegetables

Diner Review №71

We did carry out. Based on reviews I was expecting out of this world Thai. I had the volcano chicken. Huge positive- sauce is on the side. I love being able to add the amount of sauce to my meal. It was good but I wish I had gone spicier. Be sure to follow the spice guide. It was good, but I like my food with more kick. I would have for sure gotten a 3 as a minimum. That said the vegetable rolls were outstanding!! I highly recommend the peanut sauce too. Good Food? Yes. Gotta have write home about it? No.

Diner Review №72

Delish food and great service!

Diner Review №73

Food was great and I will definitely order again!

Diner Review №74

Very authentic, great service and food was fabulous. Don't understand bad reviews. One of the best thai food places I've every ate at. Thank you ally.

Diner Review №78

Everything was top notch

Diner Review №79

Stopped in for some food on the way to a concert. Even though not many people and we were at the bar to be quick, still took a long time for the service. We only had a deep fried app and some Thai fried rice, so very had to judge the food. However, the Rangoon were over fried and the Thai rice was greasy and left me with heartburn the entire night. I know, my fault, ha ha. It might be worth a try if sitting down, but do not recommend for a quick bite.

Diner Review №80

Brought my friend here for dinner. I have been here a few times and this was his first time.

Immediately we were impressed with the decor and the cleanliness of the Restaurant. It truly looks like an authentic Thai Restaurant and not like some sort of modern bar like many of the newer ones that have just popped up.

It has a show kitchen where you can actually see the staff making your food. Both of us have worked in another Thai Restaurant and we were very impressed with the professionalism of the cooking staff. They seemed to really get along as a team and there was a definitely calmness even though they were in the middle of making orders. Management obviously has standards when it comes to hiring and it's obvious when you can actually see who is doing the cooking.

My friend had the Pad Thai. He was impressed by the fresh ingredients and the definite care that was put into the preparation of his food.

I had the Pad Prik Khing with Beef. I have had this several times from here and it has never disappointed. The Beef was perfectly cooked and almost melted in my mouth and the Green Beans were just the perfect crunchiness. Obviously no amateur created this dish. And of course, the sauce is fantastic and full of flavor. Everyone should try this dish.

If you are willing to pay for Quality Thai Food and are willing to drive anywhere to get it, I would definitely recommend the King and I to be at the top of your list!

Diner Review №81

My sisters, niece, and I had gone to The King & I to celebrate our father's birthday. The food was good, but the restroom was smelling bad 😫

Diner Review №82

I like how every menu item is offered veggie style so you can try all the flavor profiles. Also like how you can select your Heat rating for all of them.

Diner Review №83

Food was okay. Not bad, not great. Service was outstanding. The atmosphere is dated and likely could have been updated 15 years ago but they are getting by.

Diner Review №84

Customer service was A+. The gentleman who served us was very nice and professional. Food was A+. The volcano chicken is the best dish. Appetizers were good and so was their chicken and mushroom soup. Nice atmosphere and very relaxing. Loved it.

Diner Review №85

Excellent food, great service, vet welcoming

Diner Review №86

Diner Review №87

Good food .we could use some pictures in a menu first time I had Thai food. Will be back one day.

Diner Review №88

Food and atmosphere were great, server was cranky, crabby and needs to retire.

Diner Review №89

The name of the restaurant is expected, but the food was great. I'm comparing to other Thai food that I've had. The server made an excellent recommendation for me as I was not very hungry. The Thai iced tea was fantastic.

Diner Review №90

Diner Review №91

I had one bad experience with this location and they made it so right I was blown away. Total customer for life. Also, the food is AMAZING!!

Diner Review №92

Service was horrible! Table for four -- We asked to place an order for appetizers while we decided on our dinners. He never took a drink order! Had to ask for beverages when the appetizers were served.

We got one entree 8.33 minutes before the other two were served and then the final entree (a refire of the incorrect order) about 1.5 minutes later. With the first entree they brought a second entree that in no way resembled what was ordered so they had to take it back. Didn't offer to take the first entree back and keep it warm nor did they offer a new plate of hot rice.

Filled one water glass while the others were obviously low. We later were able to request more water - he filled one glass again and was actually warm and without ice.

All in all the food was mediocre - what a shame because they used to have wonderful food and much better service. My young granddaughter said he was really nice which is probably the only reason he still had a job! She also said this seems to be the way it is since the pandemic! Truly, two very sad statements. We spent $150 for four people and will probably never return.

Diner Review №94

Diner Review №95

Diner Review №96

The Volcano Duck and Volcano Chicken are fantastic! So good!

Diner Review №97

Highly recommend the Tom Kha soup and green curry

Diner Review №98

Chicken was not seasoned, the sauce was clearly from a package, the shrimp tasted like oil, rice was dry...

Diner Review №99

Diner Review №100

I eat a fair amount of Thai food and the King and I does not disappoint. I especially liked the peanut sauce that came with the chicken satay and that they offer 5 heat/spicy levels to the dishes. The service was attentive and the decor bright. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others visiting Milwaukee.

Diner Review №101

Classic Milwaukee Thai restaurant. Overall a nice dinner.

Food: We had Vegetable Tempura as an appetizer, very good, especially the sauce. I had Tom Yum soup. I don't like mushrooms, but this soup is delicious, the highlight of my meal. For dinner I had Pud Prig Khing. They were out of beans, so they made it with other vegetables. It was ok, I didn't love the sauce flavor. Would like to go here again and try something else. The Thai tea was outstanding.

Service: It wasn't very crowded on a Thursday night, maybe 3 other tables. The food came quickly, but the server wasn't around very much. Water often empty, didn't clear finished dishes, had to flag another server to get the bill. Saw a couple of servers on their phones often.

Atmosphere: Nice decor, a lot of Thai statues and decorations. A little dated, but classic.

Diner Review №102

I’m so disappointed. I had really high hopes from this place because of all the good reviews but our order was so bad. We ordered the Massaman curry, chicken satay and drunk man noodles. The curry was missing all of the vegetables that were supposed to be in it so it was just chicken and sauce. The noodles were ordered to be very spicy and they had no spice at all. And the chicken satay we ordered got switched for the vegetable tempura which is very disappointing because due to health reasons I can’t eat fried food so I had to just throw them away. We ordered through Grubhub and luckily they refunded us for the satay but I’m still highly disappointed. Will definitely not be ordering from them again.

Diner Review №103

Great Tai food. Love the crispy duck. Great location. Perfect for pre show dinners

Diner Review №109

Loved my drunken noodles. Nice and professional staff. They were pretty busy when we were there on Sunday night before the Bucks game so there was quite a wait to receive food. Rest assured that they keep working hard and as quickly as they could from what I can see. Make sure to leave a good amount of time to sit here if you're going before an event especially when they're busy. Would go again.

Diner Review №110

Tasty food prepared to your desired spiciness. Attentive service in a comfortable setting. My only difficulty: finding a parking spot in downtown.

Diner Review №111

Ordered off of Uber Eats. Thai food is my favorite genre of food and Pad Thai is usually my baseline for judging a restaurant. All I can say is… at least it didn’t taste like ketchup like some others. Honestly, the flavor was a good starting point, it just needed some more… more seasoning, more tamarind, lime juice and Thai chilis. I think my meal was spiced with black pepper which was odd and doesn’t fit the flavor profile. Luckily I had some duck sauce lying around so I could redeem it a little for some fusion flair. My husband’s Pad Kee Mao was decent, better than the Pad Thai. I think some tweaks to the recipes to taste a little more authentic and this would be a solid little restaurant.

Diner Review №112

Diner Review №113

Not what it used to be. I've dined here several times over the years. I recall they had some of the best seafood. It was here that I first tasted fresh seafood years ago and could tell the difference between the taste.

Went back recently and the touch is no longer there. Had the seafood Royal and the mussels were small and chunks of the shell were in the dish. Overall the food was okay.

Beef Laab was better than most other Thai restaurants in town.

Paneng curry was a bit sweet on three spice level. Not a bad or good thing. My dinner partner didn't like it, but I did.

Chicken satay and peanut sauce was great and I recommend.

Atmosphere and decor is still the best for Thai restaurant in town. The staff was friendly.

For the price and location of what it's trying to be, I'd say it's average for the value you get. You could add one ⭐ star if price isn't a problem for you. I still plan to come back and do recommend giving it a try.

Diner Review №114

Went there for dinner with my daughter, the service was slow but it would have been fine if the food was good. About average, and below average for the price. Restaurant was not busy at time we got there, but was busier upon us leaving. Overall 90 minutes to have dinner for two people.

Sometimes there's a bit of a wait for the food but let me tell you - it is well worth it! Try the crispy squid or their thai beef jerky for a delicious appetizer. Best Pad Thai I've ever had.

Diner Review №118

The Volcano Chicken is absolutely delicious!! Can't recommend it enough, we live about 35 minutes away but we go there as often as we can, have not found a better Thai restaurant and believe me, we have tried many!! Give them a try, you won't be disappointed!!

Diner Review №121

Volcano shrimp, crispy duck and sticky rice, my friend!

Diner Review №122

If I could give a zero star I would. I had one of the worst customer service there ever!! I work in the customer services industry for years and I have never ever encounter rude services before. The waiter that took our order was incredibly rude and he questioned us our orders as in we were stupid. I asked for a side of rice and he gave me a whole attitude, and commented his opinion on why I needed a side of rice with my drunken noodles when the noodles are already made of “rice”. FYI, I am Asian. I am fully aware that noodles are made of wheat. I only want a side of rice with my noodle dish because AGAIN, I AM ASIAN— meaning I cannot live without my rice. All I asked for was a side of rice and he said he’s never heard of someone ordering side of rice with a rice noodle dish (referring to the drunken noodle dish). After we put our order in, I was not happy with the service. Me and my friend walked out of there. I WILL NOT COME BACK THERE EVER AGAIN. I’m disappointed on how they treated me and my friend just because we WERE ASIAN.

Diner Review №123

I can't believe I hadn't been here until just a few weeks ago. I've been back twice, and it's now my favorite Thai place in Milwaukee! Food was so tasty- I ordered Pad Se Ewe, Drunken Man Noodles, Panang Curry, fresh spring rolls, among other things. Very tasty! Some entrees were a little more salty than I consume at home, but they were nonetheless a tasty treat! Love this place!

Diner Review №129

Service is always great and the food is excellent! Over the last year we’ve ordered both take out and dined in a few times, and the quality is always consistent. We often get the Pad Thai, Pad See-ew, and Drunken Noodles.

Diner Review №130

Served well.

Diner Review №131

Great soup and please don’t be afraid to ask for extra spice! My mother and I will ask for a level seven spice along with the accoutrements needed *see red peppers in a pepper shaker. Overall service is great and would recommend the tom yum or tom kha soup along with their famous volcano chicken or you can try their delicious curries. The wait staff are friendly and couldn’t be more accommodating. An awesome experience to be had at one of Milwaukee’s excellent restaurants! Enjoy!!

Diner Review №132

If I could give 0 star, I would. The restaurant looks ok, the food is not bad, but I don't think they wash their glasses or dishes here. I still see people's lipstick around the glass when the waiter brought me water. I had to ask to change it 2 times and the waiter didn't seem happy to help me. He didn’t apologize. It was my first time here and I am very disappointed. I would not recommend.

Diner Review №133

Great food. Reasonable prices. Friendly service. A long time Milwaukee restaurant that stands the test of time.

Diner Review №134

Sat for 10 minutes. No one looked at us. We left

Diner Review №135

Very disappointing.

Tom yum soup was fairly bland with very dry boiled chicken thrown in.

Volcano sauce was either sweet chilli or undetectable, unclear whether they forgot to add the sauce to the beef jerky starter.

Seafood green Thai curry was comically spicy with the level 4 "native Thai chilli". Seafood elements were actually nice, particularly the sweetness of the scallops, but hugely overpowered by chilli that added some heat but greatly distracted from the good parts.

Service wasn't great, we had to prompt twice for drinks to be served and the starters and mains came out of sequence.

Came to $85 for two starters, two mains and two drinks - not worth returning.

Diner Review №136

We made reservations for 5:15pm on a Tuesday night. By the time we left at 6:30 all tables had been taken. I ordered the Volcano Chicken (pictured) because of all the reviews. I got level 1 spice, wasn't spicy at all. First time eating it, so I can't compare. I didn't think it was so fabulous like other reviews said. Others in my party got Drunken noodles, very tasty, and a spicy curry dish, nice. Last time I was here was probably when they opened in 88. I recommend this place.

Always a great experience. The Thai beef Jerry is great, the volcano chicken and shrimp is the best in the City!

I have been here three times in the past year and a half and all three times it has been genuinely the best restaurant I have ever been to. The atmosphere is amazing, every single time I've gone my server(an old Asian guy) has been phenomenal, and the food is genuinely the best food I've ever had at a restaurant. I cannot recommend this place enough, best food in Milwaukee without a doubt. Also it gives big portions for a very fair price, and I love the spice level.

Diner Review №140

Used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Milwaukee, if not the US. Carry out today was terrible. Volcano chicken used to be one of my last meals and today it had the texture of pork rinds;( No carrots or cabbage to go with it and they gave us the wrong spring rolls.

Here’s the email address that doesn’t work:

Kingandimke??

Waaaay too slow. Poor service too. We'll never go back after such a frustrating experience. Food was decent but when it takes over 50 minutes to get to the table that's no good.

And I did address it at the time and less than half the tables were occupied. It wasn't even busy.

Diner Review №142

Volcano chicken is awesome!

Diner Review №143

Delicious food, very well prepared. Definitely recommended if you like Thai food.

Diner Review №144

Service was beyond terrible. The waiter should be fired. I think they found any random guy on the street to wait tables. But thankfully I mustered through the horrendous service because the peanut curry was wonderful. The crab rangoon however was not. It has too much hard crust and not enough filling inside.

Diner Review №145

Seated 25 minutes & didn't even get a glass of water. Had reservations. Loud & stressful atmosphere. Never again.

Diner Review №146

Prices wrong on site - cold crab Rangoon 😞 - takeout not worth price at all. Used to love this place - disappointed overall 😑 hopefully just bad luck

Diner Review №147

GREAT food. We were a party of ten and everyone was so friendly.

Diner Review №148

BOOOOOOO!!! They literally write your order on top of the container, BUT still get it WRONG! Also, DO NOT pay for extras. Just like them not reading the instructions they OBVIOUSLY DON'T see where you paid extra for things. How does a Thai food restaurant ruin RICE?¿? It was wet! Wet left over fried rice? Really? The worst part calling to complain does NOT help. I guess they have Caller ID...lol Just skip this place. IT IS NOT WORTH THE PRICE!! WHAT A JOKE!!

Diner Review №149

Was in town on business. Had a great dinner with colleagues.

Diner Review №150

Traveling for work and was pleased to find a good Thai place. Fantastic food, great service. Highly recommended.

Diner Review №151

Very disappointed that we sat there for more than 10 minutes without being waited on. The gentleman who seated us (the owner?) went to stand off on the other side of the room near the kitchen and never paid attention to us. The one waitress walked back and forth on the other side of the room numerous times, but also never seemed to notice us. So we left.

Diner Review №152

We stumbled onto the hem, and we were so happy we did. The ambiance is amazing. The staff is attentive and friendly. I had a coconut curry & tofu dish with rice. My husband had the drunken noodles with tofu. The prices are appropriate for high quality ingredients and skilled preparation. We loved everything we had. The tofu was prepared perfectly, not too spongy or greasy. The spice level was spot on to balance the dish flavors. We will seek out this great place again.

Diner Review №153

Delicious food, friendly and fast service. As noted by others, the Jade Noodles are excellent but even the mild is quite hot. A side of plain rice helps temper the heat and use up the extra sauce.

Food was good, service was horrible! Took 40 mins to get our drinks! There were maybe 10 full tables. Guy next to us came in after and received food and drinks almost immediately. Server keep saying they were short staffed. I saw 4 people in the kitchen. I just dont think he really cared! Took credit card for payment, then didn't return it. Had to ask for it.

Diner Review №160

It was very good. I would like to go again. Just so you know if you can't handle spicy then 1 is not for you let alone 2,3,4. I wish I would have taken pictures but I forgot and went in for the eats. The lettuce wraps and ragoon are a must.

Diner Review №161

Wonderful food and great service, the volcano chicken is the best and its a must try! Hands-On owners, wonderful bar great location.

Diner Review №162

Don't get the Spring Rolls!!! Covered in oil!!! They made us another one and it was the same thing. The Noodle Soup tasted like it was out of the instant noodles bag. What happen to this restaurant????? It's located Downton and a few dishes are off. It should be on point all the time when you are considered fine dinning.

Diner Review №163

Great food great server restrooms where awful no toilet paper in 1 stall toilet seat broken in the other 1 and filthy dirty same in the women's I hate giving them a bad review they are my favorite Thai restaurant

Diner Review №164

Food was great. The server was rude. Argumentative. He reprimanded us for not mentioning that our ticket would be split. We were a table of two couples and he never asked. Friends of our had a similar experience (about something different) with the same waiter two nights prior.

Diner Review №165

I really wanted to like this restaurant 😭😭 I was craving Thai food and I thoroughly read the reviews for each restaurants and decided to order food from here… the pad thai is bland, the meat to noodle ratio is 2:8 :), usually pad Thai tastes ✨immaculate✨and pairs well with a slice of lime, but even the lime from my own fridge couldn’t save the dish. The noodles don’t taste good. I’ve had waaaay better pad Thai from a different restaurant so I’ll stick to that one instead :) I also ordered the “Panang Curry” lmaoooo I wanted to try it and thought it’ll taste good. The taste is good and savory BUT I personally get tired of the thick peanut savory soup easily. The curry has no veggies but only basil leaves & our choice of meat LMAO it’s 99.9999% liquid and then the meat of choice sits at the bottom. I’m personally not going to order the “Panang Curry” dish again :) I also ordered the coconut shrimp dish. Maybe it’s just me.. but it’s very pricey for the amount that being given? It comes with 5 coconut shrimps and each cost like approximately $2 per one piece of shrimp :/ it tastes good but nothing to rave about. Moral of the story, none of the three dishes I ordered struck a heartstring in me LOL how could three dishes be a miss😭😭 I don’t have it in me to order from here again

Diner Review №166

Very good food and quick service. The tom kah soup is great. Rich with generous portions of chicken. I had the king's special and it is very tasty with lots of vegetables and pineapple chunks. Surprising to find a good thai restaurant in Milwaukee. I was craving something other than sausage tonight. Well made food. Yummy

Diner Review №167

First of all I absolutely love their King and I fried rice. I've been hooked since 1997. I ordered thru eatstreet and when I got there they hadn't received my order. The hostess immediately got on the phone with eat street while the server went in back and got my ordered started. Before I knew it I was with delicious rice in hand. Thank you soooo much for the awesome service and quick solution to the situation. By the way... the rice was delicious as always!!!

Diner Review №168

The decor is nice. Server was a hoot😂 Kitchen was very slow😕 And it cost $15 to park!😬

Diner Review №169

I walked here from my hotel, and I got something exactly like what I wanted - spicy shrimp soup, and it IS spicy! The host and bartender were both nice, and the restaurant was nice inside.

Diner Review №170

Beautifully done, our waiter was great! Best authentic thai rice and pad-thai we have had in quite some time. 💯

Diner Review №171

So disappointing and greasy. While staying at the Hyatt across the street from this restaurant, I ordered takeout and most of it went straight in the garbage. The spring rolls were literally sitting in a puddle of oil and the soup had a thick layer of grease on top. 🤢

Diner Review №172

Diner Review №173

Food was delicious overall. Roasted pineapple duck curry was sweet & tasted great. I’d say cost was a bit pricey for the salads. My party got a steak laab salad and papaya salad and for the price, the portions were very small from other restaurants I’ve ordered from. Our server was very nice. On the day we went, they seemed short staffed but the overall service was good. Would dine here again!

Diner Review №174

No complaints! The food and service are both very good! Just make sure to know your spice tolerance because even mild was pretty spicy here!

Diner Review №175

This is a small joint which is quite obviously family-run. If I had to guess, the two servers working the floor were a husband-wife owner team. I enjoy a non-rushed dining experience, so I have no complaints. But note if you are looking for a quick meal, this wasn't a quick in-and-out experience for us on a Wednesday night, even though there were only four tables at the time of our visit. All of that said, no shade because I loved the experience. And they have an open view into the kitchen, which always instills a lot of confidence for diners and adds to the ambience, like eating at someone's home.

Food was on point Thai. My cup of Tom kha soup had a lovely and mysterious creamy pink color and was full of finely chopped veggies of all colors. The Siamese Jade noodles were beautiful. They don't soak up the ample amount of green curry broth provided so you could easily order a side of rice to supplement. They have local beer which I really appreciate.

My dining partners ordered crab rangoons (standard and as expected), fried rice, Won ton soup, and pad Thai with beef. Everyone was satisfied. The pad Thai was piled high with fresh bean sprouts. Overall a solid experience.

Diner Review №176

Pad Thai was ok. Tom kha was bad. Chicken satay was good. Beef salad was really good. Coconut shrimp was good. Fried rice was too greasy. I def prefer Kim’s Thai on the south side but if I was downtown would try The King and I again.

The King and I has some of the most authentic and delicious Thai food, hands down. Every time we’ve come here, our experience has been incredible, until last night. We had a reservation for 745. Our server did not come over to our table until almost 8. A different server brought us our food (which came out fairly fast), except our order was incorrect (no big deal, they brought the correct food within minutes). Our original server never came back to our table until it was time for the check. We had finished our meals by 8:25pm and didn’t not receive the check until 8:52pm. She took our credit cards (split check) and never came back.

We had to go up to a different server around 9:10 pm to find our cards. Meanwhile, our server was walking around clearing plates and wandering off into the other room after we tried waving her down multiple times. Other tables that were sat 20 plus minutes after us, were finished and checked out almost 30 minutes prior to us going to find out credit cards. When we alerted another server that we didn’t have our cards, she came back to us right away, with one card. Our original server came back over without the other card too. Nearly 45 minutes after finishing our meals, we had our cards and left. Every other server besides ours was incredible and prompt. We know with covid that service may be slower and we always take that into account. But this woman should not be allowed to serve if she treats all customers this way. The food was incredible, per usual, but the service was not.

Diner Review №184

I stop by every year after Anime Milwaukee and the food is always really good! Service is usually great but the time it takes for food to arrive can be hit or miss (might take a really long time with a big group or busy restaurant or normal amount of time if the restaurant isn't super busy). If you can't handle spicy Thai food, make sure to only order the mild!!!! Anyways love this place, love how there's mirrors on 1 wall so it looks twice as big! ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Delicious restaurant I actually ate there last month and I really enjoyed it, I’ve made a reservation for Valentine’s Day because the food is that good

Diner Review №190

This place is the first place to get me to fall in love with Thai curry. Their green curry is always top notch, I’ve ordered it multiple times to my home. It always comes piping hot - be warned, this place doesn’t mess around with spice! Even mild is hot, but I’m growing to love it because the flavor is sooo good. I would try their pad Thai and crispy duck, but I always want to get curry, haha!

My boyfriend and I came here about a week or two ago. We waited 10-15 minutes and was seated quickly which was great, however we one weren’t greeted by our server, two there was only one server, and three there was one only person expediting food. The hostess seating people was in the lobby entertaining guests, kind of sad she couldn’t help out/was our server. We didn’t get any water the server was running around joking with everyone besides us, we were probably a one of the few minorities there (sad to say it), or else just a few of the non regulars (trying to give them the benefit of the doubt). It was busy I will say but to wait that long without a single table touch from the server is quite unacceptable. We ended up leaving because we couldn’t wait, yes disappointing.

I am a long time customer of the king and I, Always love multiple dishes from them take out or dine in but this last experience was the worst ever! Yesterday, I purchased food from the king and I, Ordered online. I received a notification that the restaurant was charging my card for 2 separate transactions of the same amount for only 1 order and I only have 1 recipet. I contacted the store to resolve this issue, the young lady on the phone told me she would call the manager and call me right back....well sadly and hour and a half later she never did! Then I called the store literally 5 time from my phone and each time someone picked the line then hung up! By the 8 call finally the same young lady answer and stated: she called the manager they didn't answer, she doesn't know when they will be coming in and there's nothing she can do about the double charge on my debit card for food I didn't receive. I asked so what would I do going forward because I shouldn't have to pay twice and she stated that she didn't know!
I asked if someone else could help that is situation and she stated No. So I should just be okay with the restaurant stealing extra money after I paid for my food, if I order online!? I'm really confused and insulted by this entire experience. I just hung up the phone! They are closed on Monday's so I guess Tuesday I'll be back trying to resolve this issue, If they don't keep ignoring my calls! I really expected this good restaurant to have better integrity than that. Unfortunately, as a 5 year consistent customer even through the pandemic after this experience I don't feel valued as respected paying customer.

Diner Review №199

Really superb duck

Diner Review №200

This had been out family's go to Thai place, but after spending $30 on a duck dish and told it doesn't come with rice we are done. 9/10 our order is missing the sauce or other items, but the food is good. However, $30 for duck with no rice. That is shameful. Rice is the cheapest thing they serve.
