She was very attentive to my needs, even making sure to bring me a glass of water while I waited for my to-go order. The food was cooked quickly and tasted great. The dining area, though small, was clean and full of natural light. I noticed there was a high chair available at the far side of the dining room. I look forward to coming here again!

This has been my recent go to place for Thai food. The service is amazing, the lady that runs it all is so friendly, kind, and truly cares about what she does. I tend to stick to Chicken Pad Thai and will ask for special things like extra green onion and it is always delicious. It’s nice to regularly go somewhere and be remembered too. It’s a cute small restaurant that is perfect for a cozy casual meal. It’s also nice to just take to go as the service is prompt. I’ve tried other things on the menu all of which are good too.

If you love Thai, you also know that it's hard to find a place with a unique and authentic flavor. Many places taste the same or have an American style. We were in the area and got a to-go order of Green Curry and Pad See Ew. Everything was delicious and prepared quickly. Im not sure why some reviews say this place is expensive and not authentic. It couldn't be any more authentic than it already is. The prices are very reasonable and cheaper than most Thai restaurants. The portions were perfect for leftovers as well. I was promptly greeted and given a glass of water as I waited. Good food and great service. Give this small family business a try. It's better than most of the Thai places in the Olympia/Lacey area. Facts, not just an opinion.

This is a fine little establishment. The owner is incredibly sweet and one of the hardest working people I've ever encountered. She does everything from being the waitress to cooking and everything in between. To have just one person do everything is incredible, and she's smiling the whole time. Edit 10 months later - Still 5 stars! I have been coming to eat in person every so often and thoroughly enjoy myself every time. While I often go for chicken as my protein option at other places I always get tofu when I come here - she gets a great texture on it!

Original review - I ordered delivery here a while ago but forgot to leave a review until now. The owner was wonderful, we ordered super late - it was right near the end of her business hours - she was out of tofu. Since we ordered online, she sent us a very nice message apologizing for the lack of tofu, and explained she was worried about substituting it for a different protein in case we were vegetarian. Instead, she absolutely loaded us up with a variety of veggies! I can't even remember what the specific dish was at this point but I remember it was very good.

Came here by chance on a Google search. I almost don't want to make a review because I want to keep this place to myself. But this place is such a gem and deserves to get way more business!!

The woman who runs this place does it entirely by herself which is incredible. I was so sure there was someone hiding in the back cooking, but nope! She handles taking the order, cooking, refilling/service throughout, and the register. A complete one-woman show!

Even handling everything, the food was so good! It wasn't too salty nor too oily which sometimes happens with Thai restaurants. Also the vegetables were cooked well, they still had a bite to them and weren't soggy which sometimes happens at other restaurants. Flavors felt very authentic and it's obvious she cooks with a lot of love for her food.

I will come here again very soon! I need to try the whole menu.

I really enjoy the chicken wings and chicken larb on occasion, although the last time I ordered the chicken wings at least one wing was not cooked all the way through and it was a little bloody at the joint area of the drumstick. The lady that helps me when I come in to pick up my food is always nice and the restaurant dining room seems cozy, but I have not dined in before. The food ends up being not consistent, so I am unable to depend on the same level of flavor or execution of the same dish(es) with each order.

I really wish I could give a higher score, but the meal was uninspiring. I felt so bad because there was one person running everything - waitress, cook, and bussing. We ordered the calamari that costs nearly $11.00 and was shocked to see 4 calamari rings and 1 very small rung come out half burned. The fried chicken wings did not look like the picture on the menu. I got the Tom Kha and asked for tofu, but got chicken instead. This did not taste like it had enough spice (I asked for 4 stars) and it did not taste like it had any lemongrass. We also ordered the pineapple fried rice that again didn’t have any heat and lacked pineapple flavor. Overall, I would not return.

One of the best Chicken Pad Thai I’ve had around town. So glad I decided to try this place on a whim after finding it on google maps. Highly recommend. I also got the Chicken Satay which really hit the spot. The lady who sat me and took my order was very friendly. The food came out very quickly. She also gave me a free Thai iced tea refill.

Don’t understand the 4.6 reviews, we ate red curry and ck with vegetables, HORRIBLE! Curry was watery-no creamy-no curry flavor, my husband words: “so far this is the worse curry” yep, I agree; ck dish only green beans and ridiculous portion for dinner price 13.95, 1/2 size comparing to any other place. Fresh spring rolls were decent-9.99- overall, expensive for the small portion tasteless food. Never again!

Prices are about 30% higher in person than online. The waitress I had was so sweet and food was quick but the curry I ordered was flavorless. I ordered medium spice and it tasted blander than mild. Granted Tacoma is very white, it still missed the mark for me.

I was disappointed. I tried ordering online. Evidently this restaurant doesn't have the ability. I ordered on the phone. I sat down to eat 😩. There was an Old Thai woman that recommended a soup. No water. No service. I asked for a glass of water after I tasted the soup. So that being said, Tacoma water and alley cats if you like meat in your soup. A couple of mushrooms and a small tomato. What a soup. I have had diarrhea two times in the past day. It's not nice.

my boyfriend took me here as a backup plan as our main spot was closed. all i got to say is, i am so glad he did. it was both our first time being here and boy! was it so delicious!! the lady wasnt just the owner, but the chef as well! she told us how she learned how to cook from her mother and it brings her joy to know people like her food so much! i had the yellow curry with chicken and i do have to say, one of it not thee best yellow curry ive had in a very long time! you can tell she really cares about what shes dishing up! the service was fast, the restaurant was so clean. over all, i would come here again!

Sooooo good! I ordered pad see ew with tofu. The tofu is lightly crispy on the outside and practically melts on the inside. Absolutely the best tofu texture I think I’ve ever had⭐️. Also ordered fresh spring rolls, which comes with three medium size rolls that are filling and delicious, and the peanut sauce they come with is practically melted peanut butter, in the best way.

I ordered takeout and the gal who was there cooking and running everything was very sweet and friendly and welcoming.

Recently moved to Tacoma and oh what a wonderful find. This place is so unassuming but seriously if you drive by stop and get something to eat. By far one of the very best Thai restaurants I've ever been to. The menu has all your favorites. The food came out HOT and full of amazing flavor. The owner does it all hostess and cook. HIDDEN GEM ALERT 💎💎💎I have been wanting to try this restaurant for some time. I waited so long to try and this lunch visit didn’t disappoint. The food is so yummy, authentically Thai and made with the freshest ingredients and seasoning. I had the Beef Lettuce Salad “Yum Nheau” , two kinds of noodles Chicken Phad Thai and Phad Kee Mao. The thai tea is also delicious made perfectly not to sweet. Thank you, Chef Chonticha for an amazing experience.

This a new business so they still have a lot of growing to do. The food was ok, but the new owner and chef was amazing. She is open for suggestions and cooks with love. I had pad Thai, holy basil, and beef and broccoli. The beef and broccoli needed some flavor, but everything else was fantastic. I will be back to give her another chance. I have a feeling she will be my new go to.

Been to Thailand twice and this place is the most authentic I've had in Tacona. The menu reminds me of one out of Thailand. Ingredients were fresh, food was tasty and the portions precise.

It’s not the best or the worst Penang curry I’ve had. My review is for the portion size. For 18.00 I got 6 pieces of fried tofu. Then Penang curry. It does not come with rice. I got 4 pieces of tofu and 5 slices of bell peppers. That’s it... I’ve had this curry in 48 states. I’ve never gotten so little. For the price they need to add more veggies and maybe some rice.

Ordered extra chicken in my curry. Container was not full and had to search for the chicken.

This place was great! I was able to get in and out with take away in under 20 minutes. I ordered an appetizer and seafood pad thai. Total before tip was $21.93, the portion size was bigger than expected, the taste and quality were excellent! I'll definitely be back to try another dish.

The pot stickers! Crisp, not over or under filled, tender on the inside. And the sesame sauce! Really good. Try the crispy orange chicken, too.

Update: The owner reached out and was extremely friendly and resolved the issue. Occasionally these things do happen. I was very pleased with the prompt reply and my next order was very spicy to my liking!

Old: I ordered takeout, it was nice and warm and my expectations were high! Unfortunately, I ordered incredibly spicy but it was bland and had absolutely no spice. I tried to call to see if something could be done about the order but there was no answer. I will definitely be going to somewhere that knows spice for my future thai orders.

This is the spot! Yes there's a lot of Asian inspired food in our area, but there's few as good as Chang Thai. Every item we've ever ordered, the service is excellent and they take care to ensure the food is perfectly prepared.
There's 2 locations, but we've always enjoyed the one on S 48th St. by the Mall.
Our favorites so far are the Golden Bags, the Pineapple Fried Rice with Prawns, and the Pad Thai. The Curries are delicious (make sure to order a side of rice).
Small businesses are the most important resources in our local communities. Chang Thai is a Jewel of Tacoma and Lakewood.
Also, if there's ever the slightest issue with your order, they are quick to fix it. Their kindness is authentic.

Best Thai food in Tacoma hands down! My girl friend and I go here at least once a week since the reopening and cannot get enough. Super friendly staff, we wouldn't change a thing!

Bruh! I’ve been to this place at least 10 times. I am so impressed with their authenticity and consistency with the food and service. I’ve had take out, went 20 minutes before closing, when they’ve opened and everything is always great.
