I love when you get more than you expect. There are places that have all of the décor, the location, the atmosphere and some of those places I will never visit again. Not all have the funds like a Olive Garden or have some great location. However, they have heart, the passion and you can taste it. What great Panang Curry! It is just as good as local Thai restaurant near where I work. Pad Thai Noodle was just as awesome. I will return here again. My daughter loved the food. These are the restaurants I want to keep in business. And we are still visiting almost every visit to the area.
For a Thai restaurant in the US, Jen Thai Cuisine has done excellent compared to other US based Thai locations. Their food is excellent, and the pricing for portion size is very reasonable. The staff is very communicative and kind, checking in at an appropriate pace. The cuisine is tasty and filling, and a great location to go to if you’re craving Thai food.
I have travelled to Thailand often and had much of their popular and standard cuisine, and unfortunately many US based locations taper down their ingredients or taste to appease Americans, but Jen Thai stayed close to true tradition and brings a lovely and inviting clean atmosphere with tasty food and kind employees. Definitely worth visiting again!
I know I’m in America, but when I go places in this country I always have to find a place that has some good Thai food, I can’t help it!!! This place though, man they’re awesome. I ordered Tom Yum chicken with rice and it was good, but after they knew I’m Thai they took it to another level!! I got 2 bowls of Tom Sab (not on the menu, probably workers' meal), coconut jello, and a Thai omelette on the house!! They said “You need strength for work girl, eat up!” Oh my gosh that Tom Sab was AMAZING, it literally made me miss Thailand. 🥹🥹 I chatted with them for a while and when I was about to leave they said “You’re staying at a hotel near by right? Come, it’s cold to walk, I’ll drive you there!!” Are you kidding me!!!? Let me tell you peeps, Thais’ generosity is at the top of all. Especially with food sharing and hospitality!!! Thank you guys. ❤️❤️
We stumbled upon this quaint little restaurant by chance, and we’re so glad we did. It is now one of our favorites! They have wonderful service and the food is delicious. Our favorite dishes are Fried Spring Rolls, Thai Fried Rice (with Vegetables or Chicken) and Green Curry with Chicken. It usually doesn’t take long to get our food, and yet it always tastes like they took their time preparing it.
This restaurant is nestled in a strip mall, and is quite unassuming from the outside. The inside reminds me of a bistro, complete with cafe curtains and a chalk wall listing the day’s specials. This restaurant is worth the drive to Virginia Beach!

They do not have discounts.
Tried Jen Thai for the first time due to high reviews. We ordered Massaman Curry, Red curry, and Pad Thai. The meat was tough and dry in all the dishes. The Pad Thai was a strange pink/red colour which is not the colour of the usual tamarind Pad Thai sauce, and the flavour was wrong. It contained no bean sprouts and maybe 1 or 2 green onion slices, very little chicken, so overall it was dry and was missing the usual sauce and wok caramelisation associated with the dish. Basic Thai food, room for improvement.
A hidden gem, in a corner of a small strip of stores, among UPS, dollar store and a CBD store, is where you find Jen Thai Cuisine. Upon entering you can tell locals love this place. 3 tables were already occupied with folks enjoying their dinner. As my friend and I were seated, there were plenty more people coming in to pick up their carry out orders. The place is cozy, clean slightly needing more light although one can argue it’s dimly lit for the ambiance.
My friend ordered the eggplant and shrimp dish. I ordered the Pad Prik Sod which is fried tilapia fillet smothered in brown sauce with veggie cuts. I chose mild. The dish was visually appetizing, smelled wonderful. The slight disappointment was when the dish was tad too salty!
The service was wonderful, we were asked whether I want more of the hot green tea I got. My friend’s ice water was replenished each time.
The food is fresh and good. They have Vegan and healthy dishes options. I got the lunch Thai Fried Rice with Shrimp and spring rolls to go. Surprisedly I got large plump shrimp. The food lined with foil kept the rice nice and hot. The rice and shrimp was so flavorful and good. The spring rolls cabbage was not over cooked. They are quick, 10 minute wait. Will be trying mixed veggies and rice noodles dish next time.
The food was 5 stars. The tacky Dollar Tree Valentine decor and no patience for me to ask questions about menu almost made me leave, without placing an order is why they got 4 stars.
Tried several different dishes at this Thai restaurant and haven't been disappointed yet! The food is delicious and the prices are reasonable. Will definitely be back!

Always excellent Thai selections to choose from. Their crab fried rice is delectable. They can create it from not spicy at all to spicy and then some if you like. The staff are polite and professional. They are following current respiratory hygiene guidelines. Recommended.

Delicious Thai food. Very generous in serving and welcoming environment

Gave delivery driver the wrong order - then called the customer and blamed the delivery driver, making the delivery driver lose money. If you order from here, TRIPLE check everything and make sure you have the correct order.
They have great Pad Thai and good rice. They have great customer service and are very friendly. I would recommend this place for anyone looking for some quick Thai food.
Jenns Thai is completely amazing in all aspects! The customer service the food we cannot get enough of this fresh tastey seasoned perfectly delicious food!
The moment I walked in this place I felt like it had a soul. The service, food, and price were all good. I intend to come again.
Great Thai food.
Outstanding food and service! Great flavors! Best Thai in the 757!
I've eaten at multiple Thai restaurants from the West Coast to the East Coast and Jen Thai is the closest I've found to traditional Thai food. Highly recommend the pad Thai as well as their weekly specials. I order here for all my Thai cravings!
This is the best Thai restaurant this side of Las Vegas’s Lotus of Siam. They close at 8 so get here early enough but it is worth it. Great service, the most delicious Thai food I’ve had on the east coast.
I’ve been to many Thai restaurants and the Pad Thai is always either a hit or miss but this restaurant is one of the few that I think make it very good!
Love this place and the yummy food they make. Authentic and the sweetest staff !
Red curry. Evil jen rice I think it's called is good too!
Wonderful staff and delicious food. Ordered the yellow curry and the fried rice. Both were delicious and came out quickly.
1st time....great little local place. Menu not extensive but great taste and large portions
We didn’t like the flavors of the chicken pad Thai, drunken noodles, or the sticky mango rice. Service was excellent and friendly. Portions are huge and pricing is affordable.

The soup was good Tom Kha Gai. Fried rice was steamed rice with curry paste added in. The shrimp was thawed. Not stir fried. I had to re do once I got home. The soup was good.
Excellent food and service!
Delicious curry, cute atmosphere and friendly and warm services.
Holy cow!! First time at Jen Thai. Easily the best bang for your buck when you’re looking for the finest Asian food.
The Panang curry was out of this world. So robust and flavorful. The Thai Tea was also perfect.
Definitely the new spot for that Asian craving
Jen Thai is a homey feeling atmosphere that serves great Thai food. When in doubt ask for their reccomendation and you will be happy with anything they bring from the kitchen.

Food is excellent! Their hasn't been a time when the food wasn't good! Staff is very pleasant as well and the foods comes out fast! Give it a try you won't be disappointed!
I’ve been coming here for years and typically get food a few times a month. They are very affordable and the service is always good, especially the server Gift. She makes people feel welcome. The food is delicious and made fast. No complaints. I highly recommend Cashew Nut Udon for a delicious dish that you cannot find at any other Thai restaurant.
The red curry is the best I have had in a long time! So delicious 🤤 I’ll be back to try more things soon for sure 👍🏾
Ordered the pad see ew with beef (hot spice level) and it was a 10 out of 10! The spice level was right on point, generous portion size, and the food was really fresh and delicious. If you like Thai food than this place is a must when you are in the VA Beach area. My order was to-go but the restaurant seemed very clean and the lady working was really friendly at the checkout counter.
I’m not the biggest fan of Thai food, I’ll admit. This place, however, is really fantastic. The staff are friendly and attentive, the food came out super quick, and everything I had was delicious. I tried the Evil Jen Fried Rice at a medium spice level and it was great! Very excited to return and try their other dishes.
The food is authentic and the service is prompt. We are going to level 4 on our next visit!!
Green Curry is always the best with the medium hot spicy.

Stopped in before heading to a concert, and was not disappointed. Some of best Thai food I've had in the area (Hampton Roads, so a pretty large region) and I will most certainly be headed that way again. Portions were enough for two, with attentive, swift, and courteous dine in service. I prefer a slightly more formal dining experience, but it will absolutely not stop me from risking tunnel traffic to eat there again. We might even bring more people next time.
What a gem! Great place for Thai. Lunch specials and great service. The food is great.
Cute little place, authentic and delicious!
Small efficient operation. Specials posted on blackboard on the right as you enter. Moderate prices. Great food. Last night I had Jen's revenge fried rice. Wife had special red pinapple curry. Ohhh so good. Highly recommend this place
I eat a small mountain of pad thai everytime I go. The pumpkin curry must have a honorable mention as well.
Tried this after reading the reviews and got basil fried rice, pad Thai, and drunken noodles. Rice and noodles were ok Pad Thai was very disappointing very dry not much flavor. Don't think I'll try it again. Customer Service was really good.
Cute little Thai spot that does a brisk take out business, but don’t over look the dine In experience. Everything we ordered was great, we went especially for the crab fried rice and it didn’t disappoint!
First time in. Everything was way better than expected. I will be back very soon! Thank you!
We had the best Thai... I've ever had hands down their Coconut milk curry chicken 🍲 was amazing., The corn fritters tasty ..and their Cayenne sweet sauce for the spring rolls... Perfection...last but not least the service was phenomenal...thank you for such clean and refreshing atmosphere...
Really delicious Thai food. I’m from New York and this is the spot I take my grandma too- just as good as my favorite spots in NYC.
Best Thai food restaurant around and excellent service!
I'm in love with this place. The Tom Kha will make you forget all your worries while the noodle dishes will take you right over to flavor town. The atmosphere is quiet , clean and family friendly. The servings are family style so if it's just you be prepared for left overs. Prices can't be beat and the service is too notch. When those ladies get to cooking, just know you're gonna be happy. Wash it all down with a Thai ice coffee and you'll be recharged to do it all over again.
This place was amazing. We were looking for something fast and convenient after dropping my niece off with friends and Jen Thai Cuisine showed up in the search. We decided to give it a try and I am so glad we did. I had the Basil Fried Rice with Shrimp and it was delicious. By far the best fried rice I have ever had. Will definitely return and tell family and friends to try this place. Thank you for wonderful and friendly service.
Jens Thai has the best Thai food in Virginia Beach with a very personal touch on hospitality. Whether eating in or taking out they are the best. Love the lunch specials their soups and their curries. Highly recommend!
Food is amazing. Best Thai food around
Surprised by flavor, quality and prices of this unassuming spot. Ordered Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles. Shrimp were huge and noodles were chewy and unbroken.
I tried Thai food for the first time here and now its easily one of my favorites! I recommend the "Drunken Noodle" or the "Basil fried rice".
Mediocre at best but I come from DC area where Thai food taste better. The larb gai was excellent even though it’s not on the menu and made for me at request. The panang curry was not as steam hot and creamier then others I have had. Wonton soup broth was good but the dumplings where hard and can tell was frozen. Springs rolls was ok but they give you barely any sweet chili. I wanted to try to fry rice but looking at the pictures I felt I would be disappointed.
AMAZING AMAZING!!! GEM IN KEMPSVILLE!! We ordered online, such a pretty website and customer friendly. Food was ready in 10 min and I ordered a bunch. Jens fried rice is super yummy with a big kick. Check this place out for deliciousness.
Excellent Thai food and service! Every. Time. Dine in and takeaway. The one waiter gives his diners great attention.
Good food and service.
Very tasty, nice staff, you can pick the spicy level for the dish.
We just moved from Birmingham Alabama and found this gem. Love it here. Excellent food.
"Hidden gem" is pretty cliché, but this place could not have less visibility, hidden as it is in the darkest corner of a quadrangle strip mall. I got some sort of bamboo stir-fry and it was some of the best Thai food I've had in months. Like everything else in this general area they close sort of early, but I'll try to stop by whenever I'm around and they're open.
I got the pumpkin curry while there and it was delicious my friend who also got the pumpkin curry had asked for it without spice and it was still a little bit spicy so just be aware that even the no space I have some spice in it. They were very accommodating and gave us some more coconut milk for it so that it was less spicy for my friend the service was good would definitely come back
I ordered yellow curry with chicken to go and my goodness it was delicious!!! The service was friendly and expedient with a very welcoming environment. I'll definitly be back to dine in and try more of their menu. Yum!
As an economy measure they used waaaaay too many onions as fillers. Although everyone at our table of 4 ordered a different thing we were each left with a plate full of onions after eating the different ingredients on the plate. I tried several bites of the dish of the person next to me and feel like it tasted just like mine... Oniony....
Great family owners Thai spot- easily one of the best.
Amazing food!
Out of all the thai places I've enjoyed, this is my favorite. First, the food is first rate, fresh, tasty, beautifully presented. The service is great. Priced just right!
This is a lovely family owned restaurant with authentic Thai food. The green curry is amazing as well as the drunken noodles. They will make it very spicy if you like the heat! Great local place!
Excellent food and wonderful service! For the last several moths, this has become our weekly go-to restaurant for date night. The food is always perfectly cooked, delicious flavors, and an incredible selection of vegan options. We've ordered delivery from here too and the food was still hot by the time it arrived. Highly recommend!
Ordered from here today and got the pad Thai, pineapple fried rice, and Massaman Curry. It was ready quick and I took it home. I'm vegan and specifically requested a vegan meal. Even made sure they knew what vegan meant, which they assured me they did. The rice and pad Thai looked delicious but unfortunately, once we separated our portions there was egg in both. They admitted they made a
Mistake and offered to replace the food when I call and even threw in an order of eggs rolls. Which normally would have me bump my review up. Once we got the second portions. We took a look and found the portions to be smaller and the food did not looked cooked correctly (rice was almost yellow, missing the raisins, and cashews, pad Thai was red and almost had a tomato taste). Both of those items tasted bland. My guess is they remade them in a hurry and didn't cook them with any seasoning. The Massaman curry was great though and the eggs rolls were okay. But that doesn't make up for the mistake and the gross second round of food we got.
Cool and rainy evening called for some spicy food and Thai food was our choice. This was the first time trying out Jen Thai so we weren’t sure what to expect. Ordered steamed dumplings, green curry and pad thai with shrimp. The dumplings were tasty but a bit hard so hopefully they can improve this item. Green curry and the pad thai was phenomenal. Loved the pad thai presentation. The guy serving us was very polite and gentle and that added positive vibes to the overall experience. Will definitely recommend this place to others and will go back another time.
I have ordered takeout multiple times from here! I have always been very happy with the service and food that I receive. Definitely will continue going back and supporting this small local business!
Awesome curry. Green and yellow with chicken are my favorites!
I have been a couple of times before and found the food and service to be great. My Mother has never been and wanted to try we both got Paid Thai chicken. The lunch special are plentiful. We'll be back.
No pride in their food, sloppy, bland...inedible! I understand the hurdles that restaurants are going through but definitely won't go back.
Quaint little spot for a midweek outing with friends or date night. Hot & delicious if you like Thai food. Worth a try.
It was alright to be honest. Didn't really have a "wow" factor to it. The prices are rather high , I've gone to other places and have had about the same for cheaper and better. Wasn't bad bad, but wasn't standing out either. A good visit overall.
Delicious!
Great food and very cute items on and around the tables.
I had a day off and wanted to get soup. My daughter wanted Thai food. Hmm. We found this place on the internet. She ordered Thai tea, which was nice. I ordered a beer. The soup I got was Grrrreat but I will definitely return.
Such good food and great service! I love how friendly the staff is. I’ll def be back for sure!
Great food and very generous portions. My wife and I have found a new favorite Thai restaurant!!!
Nine stars as always!!
Supporting black owned businesses in our great city of Virginia Beach. Ray and his wife provide great tasting Thai food and matching customer service. This is a hidden jewel in the old Kmart shopping center, next to the UPS Store.
Ordered via GrubHub. The food was awful. Chicken pad thai had no taste, was dry and incredibly salty. Cheese wontons were also flavorless. My toddler has chicken nuggets ans fries that were soggy. For spending $40 on the meal, it was not worth the cost. Never ordering from them again.
I love the food and flavor and all, but come on, get the freaking order correct. When you order with tofu, don’t give chicken instead! At least get it right on a nearly $30 two-dish dinner order.
Excellent food. Very clean and incredibly nice and friendly staff. I highly recommend you check them out.
Great food every time. Try the Green Curry! Great restaurant.
Actual spicy food! Hard to find in virginia beach.
Very good drunken noodles and fresh spring rolls!
THE BEST CURRY IVE EVER HAD! Literally I've ordered all of their currys via take out or delivery and they are all SO good. I highly recommend this place for take out!! The red curry has a really spicy kick to it so if you are into less spicy I'd go with the panang curry. Lovvvve the bamboo shoots in the red curry 👌👌👌 and if you are vegetarian they have tofu curry!! SO GOOD seriously I've never been disappointed.
If you want to talk about a hole in the wall joint this is it. Jen Thai consistently delivers delicious and authentic Thai food that will leave you wanting more. My wife isn’t one to enjoy spicy food but she will literally fight me for my leftovers because it is that good.
The staff is always friendly as well. Love this place and will be returning again and again.
The food was 5 stars. The tacky Dollar Tree Valentine decor and no patience for me to ask questions about menu almost made me leave, without placing an order is why they got 4 stars.
Ordered the beef Thai salad.... it’s just Romaine lettuce, a few cucumbers, carrots, tomatoes, tons of onions, with minimal beef. Not a full salad at all, looks like it came from a bag at a store.
Luv there pad thai n there curry 😋
Great thai food
Hands down the most flavorful Thai food you’ll find in Hampton Roads!
This is the BEST thai food I've found since visiting Thailand!! The Tom Yum soup and drunken noodles took me back in time!!
Awesome food!
I love this spot!!! Their curry is incredible !! Good quality, great portions and great service!! “Spicy please” :)
The best Thai around
Usually don’t do Thai. But happen to pass by it numerous times so gave it a shot. Went in for lunch the lady recommended me Penang curry. Must say it was one of the BEST CURRY I’ve had. Added in the side of dry chili and was blown away!
First time. I just picked this one on Google as closest Thai food restaurant that already open when I wanted to order for a little early dinner(4pm). I did pay attention to rating though. Ordered online to pick up. It was the right pick. Ordered 4 things. The classic Pad Thai tasted a little different than those I know, but everything was good. I will order from here again.
Love the food especially the Pad Thai, Red Curry, and Evil Jen. The food has great flavor. The place is small but very comforting. To me, it’s the best Thai food in the area.
Ordered tom ka, pad see eew, massaman curry. We are from DC and my boyfriend is Thai and was born in Thailand. This was as good as anything you would get in DC or his mother would cook. Wonderful! Definitely check this place out!
My first time eating here, the service, atmosphere, and the food were awesome!! The portions were large and filling. Reasonably priced and I will definitely visit there again!!
On a cold winter day something is to be said for a nice bowl of some Thai soup.
Delicious food, easy to figure out the menu, friendly service.
This place is a regular for me and for good reason. The place may be small but the food has big tasty flavor. Definitely worth a try if you have never eaten here.
This is my second trip to this restaurant. The first time I was unimpressed to say the least. This time I went there for lunch and I ordered the "Evil Jenn". It was much better than the Massaman curry. I will say this the food tastes fresh.
My favorite Thai food spot in kempsville, always impresses.
Love the curry dishes
Great food adds prices
First visit. Excellent Thai fried rice. If you like spicy know that I'm a South Asian who loves and have been eating spicy food all my life and I took level 3 and that was a little unbearable for me.
The food was simply delicious!
The food was delicious! A great place for a quick bite to eat.
Always delicious. Best Thai food I know. You can watch them make your meal from the side.
Authentic Thai dishes
We were the only ones in their eating which was a red flag but it ended up being the best thai food I've had in the hampton roads area. Highly recommend!
Great prompt customer service. Clean atmosphere. Family friendly. However, the Chicken Pad Thai was DISGUSTING. Unlike any I had before. The overcooked noodles tasted like ketchup sprinkled with lime juice. Over priced at $12+ The cheap stuff they sell at the grocery store taste better!
So happy we found this place! Drunken noodles are delicious, and the Pan Broccoli with beef has become one of my faves. Great service too!
Tum yum soup too spicy and not much meat
I’ve been getting the Tom Kah Soup lately. It’s tasty but for EIGHT DOLLARS and CHANGE, I need y’all to fill the “to go” bowl to the BRIM. As someone else said, y’all are SKIMPING on portion size especially for take out. I ordered a small but again, fill it to the brim like you’ve been doing! :-(
Awesome thai place
I want to rate this place lowly so that you don't go to it because after my rating it'll probably be ridiculously busy, but it is absolutely by far the best Thai restaurant in this area. Try the angry angel if you like spicy stuff, if you love vegetables they will add extra veggies to anything.
Just... Wow. We ordered online I got the Nuer Yang and was just 100% dissatisfied. 10ish dollars for soggy lettuce, dry bland pork and a plate full of rice. Just, not worth it at all. Could have done better with $5-8 at Walmart. Will not be recommending and will not be returning.
Yellow curry is bomb af! Try it Thai hot. It’s my fav Thai spot.
Really great, as usual!
Amazing spring rolls.
First time here, grabbed to go and it was very good and made in front of me. Will be visiting again to try some other food. Great place
I am not Thai food expert:
Enjoyable food, good portions, well priced.
Crab fried rice is killer. Thai ice tea is amazing.
Delicious authentic Thai food; serene, quiet atmosphere with soft Asian music in background. Small place, service can be slow b/c it's so popular.
Such an unexpected surprise to find. As I was trying to figure out what to eat, I contemplated all the different restaurants around me and this one came up in my search several times but for some reason it really wasn't just jumping out at me though. Well, I guess it did if I notice that I kept coming up in the searches. Anyways I get there and I order the Mix vegetable basil fried rice and it was so delicious!!! The service was just as exceptionally amazing. They were very attentive the food came out really fast and piping hot, and I love my food piping hot till it burns my tongue. I would definitely suggest anybody in the area to try Jen's Thai Cuisine you will not regret it.
World Class all the way around. Finally, my new home. Not Ghetto like Shaking Crab.
I'm a big fan of their food. I always get the chicken red curry, Thai hot. Delicious, and very reasonable lunch special prices.
Nice staff. But I would classify this a home-style Thai food, while I prefer authentic style.
Quick turnaround for a lunch stop, good curry options, and more appetizers than most Tai restaurants
This place has the BEST Tom Kai soup... really... you need to try it... the rest of the menu is good but have I mentioned that you need to try their Tom Kai soup
