I ordered green curry with chicken and a thai iced tea. The curry was spicier than I expected - I was literally crying. It was very tasty though. I ended up taking half of it to go and it was easier to eat later in the evening when it wasn’t also temperature hot.
I came in with a large group; we asked for separate checks, and not a peep of complaint. They were happy to accommodate, which I found refreshing.
Eggplant used in Pad Mah Kear is tight. I know because we run a restaurant ourselves. There’s no doubt about the eggplant being old. Pad See Ew was good, delicious taste. However, attitude is very bad, considering we were the only customers in the restaurant, unlike the Thai hospitality one would expect. The server lady was clearly not happy to see us, got the feeling that she does not like Indians. We drove from Fredericksburg just to dine here, based on online reviews.
First and last time I go there. The food had a weird taste and it was way too spicy for "medium", we could barely eat it. We love Thai food and eat it frequently all over the US. We have our favorite spots but always willing to give a new place a try. The older lady who appears to be the owner does not have the greatest attitude. No customer service skills, it's all about the transaction. They allow no substitutes on the white rice, for fried for example, even at an uocharge We sent the fried rice back as the tofu was cold. The seafood in my meal was cold mainky the scallops so I only ate one. As I was eating and bit really hard into a pretty large piece of shell, thought I broke my teeth. I experienced temporary pain. Mentioned it to the server and showed him the shell but he just brushed it off. At the time of the check, no apology, no discount, nothing. Again, it's all about the transaction. Wouldn't eat there again even for free!
The absolute best basil chicken fried rice I’ve had in my life!! Highly recommend. Family owned and operated, it will leave you wanting to go back.
A solid two. I went with family and it was our second time there. First time was also not great experience so we decided to give it a second try. Not any more or any less. The food is less than mediocre. The people that work there sit in the restaurant area on their phones and as we waited for the check, they were just all on their phones and one was wrapped in a blanket watching video.. not very family friendly since they don’t have any side dishes and do not have any meal sizes for kids. We ordered for ourselves and had to order an adult sized meal for our toddler since they had no side dishes of even rice or steamed veggies. Anyways i wouldn’t recommend restaurant, especially for those with younger kids.
Everything was delicious!!
We come here often and love it. It's the best Thai food in the area.
The absolute best basil chicken fried rice I’ve had in my life!! Highly recommend. Family owned and operated, it will leave you wanting to go back.
All the employees are extremely nice in the restaurant is clean and the food is excellent
I always love the food here, which I still lived right down the road. Things have changed a bit but still a very friendly great place to eat.

The server who took our order needs to put a smile (fake smile) on her face so I can give 5 stars for the service. The server who brought our food out is friendly.
Very prompt service, food was prepared in a pleasantly fast time. The Duck chef’s special and pork belly was fantastic. Will be my go to for Thai when I’m in the area
Really Good food. Must try.
First walk with unhappy face ☹️I don’t like the customer service at all, the food not bad but overpriced with the amount of food, never comeback again
Always prompt friendly service. Each dish can be tailored to your preferred spicy level.
I ordered green curry with chicken and a thai iced tea. The curry was spicier than I expected - I was literally crying. It was very tasty though. I ended up taking half of it to go and it was easier to eat later in the evening when it wasn’t also temperature hot.

Great Thai food. The spice level was very good. The calamari and crispy pork belly were awesome. Everything was great.
Authentic Thai food. The chilly sauce is super 🔥. The menu option is just right. Service is excellent.👍👍👍
Food was burned and over cooked. Tried to get resolution and told it was a chief in training. Too much money for a chief in training. Do not eat here.
Best Thai I have had, from DC to Stafford. Price for portion was on point. An they mean spicy when they advertise as spicy, no joke. The atmosphere is laid back with quick service. Close to the 95 exists too!
Food was delicious!
Everything was delish! Watch out the papaya salad is SPICY, but still so good. Service was amazing and the owners were very sweet, they replaced the papaya salad cause we couldn’t take the heat.
I ordered some tom yum with seafood, dumplings, and green curry. The food was amazing and the ladies up front were nice and sweet. I came in ordered, and then had to pee. The bathroom smelled soooo good and it was super clean. I loved that because that me and the kitchen is clean and they care about their restaurant. I came kinda late like 830 and they close at 9 but a couple came in and since they were regulars she said she would still take them. I thought that was super sweet and the customer service is amazing here. Come eat here! ❤️💯
Listen spicy is spicy!!! I’m Pakistani and the spice level DEFINITELY hit the spot for me. I always get a Drunken Noodles!
Been here 3 times now, food is always great BUT…… The SERVICE IS NOT. The older woman who has been there each time is far from friendly. No hello, hi, or any other verbal responses. It’s actually kind of insane. If you go here great! I would recommend doing take out.
First and last time. The lady is clearly unhappy from the moment you walk in. Check your order if you get takeout. She intentionally forgets to give you everything you ordered.
I'm not going to lie, I order one specific thing here - the Salmon. It's healthy and delicious. If I want to be a bit of a fat kid. I get the sticky rice with mango. It's awesome
RIP to my stomach after eating the MILD panang curry. I’ve had a lot of Thai food and this was by far the spiciest I’ve ever had, to the point of being unenjoyable. My husband ordered hot red curry and I took one bite and had to spit it out. It was so spicy, I don’t know how anyone could eat it and enjoy it.
Eggplant used in Pad Mah Kear is tight. I know because we run a restaurant ourselves. There’s no doubt about the eggplant being old. Pad See Ew was good, delicious taste. Wonderful and great dining experience! Too notch local cuisine. Last night, we had curry puffs, chicken lettuce wraps, chicken with rice, and pad thai. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to all of our friends and family when they come to visit!
I love the drunken noodles and chicken wings. Service was great, and everything came out in a timely manner.
Went for lunch and had the Tom kha soup, loved the flavor, crab ragoons were OK and the panang curry was very flavorful and the service was wonderdul.
Nara Thai is my go to Thai destination in Stafford. The inside is cute (I love all the elephant decorations). We got Thai tea, chicken satay (not pictured), curry puff chicken, Thai chicken wrap and mango sticky rice for dessert. The Thai chicken wrap and mango sticky rice were my favorite.
Very yummy panang curry with chicken. Mango and sticky rice is very delicious. Very nice staff and great service.
Our favorite Thai restaurant in the stafford/Fredericksburg area. Be aware that the spicy IS hot and the Thai spicy is super hot! I generally handle spice well, but this place can knock your socks off. That said, the food is phenomenal!!! The green papaya salad and Tom kha soup are my personal favorites. We’ve never had something that didn’t exceed our expectations. I can’t recommend them highly enough.
The food is good however their service when you pick up is always quite gruff. Whomever picks up our food is usually dealt with as if we are a huge hassle in their day. They massively decreased the size of rice you get with a curry to a laughable amount.
Delicious, authentic Thai food, excellent service
Amazing!! We ordered delivery and the food was so hot and fresh. It was delicious actually! Superior to other Thai options in the area. We ordered the Pad Thai (I got tofu & veggie and husband got the chicken), vegetable spring rolls (they were actually crispy and not mushy and came with a yummy sweet sauce!) and the Bangkok chicken wings. Will be ordering again!
Loved it! We will be going back there soon!!
Awesome choice of appetizers and entrees! Delicious chicken pad see ew.
I got the mango sticky rice, pad thai and the yellow curry.
Mango sticky rice- it was absolutely awful. I’ve seen so many people eat this and even looked it up to see what exactly it was and what it tasted like.. so I was excited.. the rice was so hard and dry and the mango’s didn’t taste fresh at all. And it wasn’t as sweet as it said it was supposed to be because of the coconut.. Very disappointing.
Pad Thai- I don’t really have anything negative to say about it. It’s spicy and it taste normal
Yellow curry- I love yellow curry but I felt like the carrots in it was too hard & there was maybe like 2 small pieces of potatoes in it which is my favorite part…
Overall, I ordered everything “medium” in spice. The curry was hard to eat in one setting as the spice was a bit too much. It isn’t American medium so keep that in mind. But I still ate it.
The food is ok except the mango sticky rice.
The lady who gave me the food was ok as well, I had takeout. Nothing special about this place. Maybe would try again. I spent about $40 for the three dishes.
I had the papaya salad and the green curry here. I really enjoyed both, and thought the curry was delicious while being at just about my limit for spiciness. Not much energy—we were here on a Saturday night and saw some people grab takeout, but nobody else sat in the dining room until we were leaving. Service was efficient but not what I would call warm or friendly.
We always make sure to stop here for lunch whenever we pass by Stafford. Great food, and very spicy!!
Best Thai in Stafford!
Always a solid choice for tasty food served piping hot with friendly service. Thank you for another great meal.
This visit we had the Tom Kha Ga (chicken in coconut broth), pot stickers, cashew chicken and pad thai. It was delicious as always!
Okay food, weird location.
They should have a sign that says “Best Thai in Stafford”. Because it is. The food is excellent, establishment is clean and the service also was excellent. My wife has been here several times and raved about it but it was my first time. I had the green curry and boy was it spicy but loved every bite. Even their tap water tastes better than mine at home. Definitely a go-to spot in Stafford.
Food is pretty good and would recommend if you can get them to ever answer the phone.
Fantastic food and service!
Very rude service, overwhelming taste. Too spicy to eat. My kids said, they wanted tea. So I asked whether kids can have tea. And then waitress said. I am not their parents. You tell me. I don’t know.
Amazing Thai food! If you are used to authentic Thai food make sure you ask them to make it Thai style (spicy and more flavors).
Great Pad Thai! Reasonably priced!
Me gustó este thai! Muy rico, no muy caro y buen servicio.
Very good food. You know they mean their spiciness when they offer Thai hot. They estimated the food to be ready sooner than it was, but nothing egregious. Service was very prompt when we tacked on a side. Would visit again!
Great Thai place. Decent selection, nice staff. The food here has never let me down! It's our "Go To" Thai restaurant in Stafford. Some could say the food is a bit pricey, but the portions and taste make up for it.
That Thai hot spice is heavenly.
My go to is the Drunken noodles, but have tried several other things from the menu.
Go here
Ok
Bye
Great service and food
Just had Mothers day lunch there on Sun May 14 2023. Location was clean and bright. Staff was excellent and attentive. Food was very good. Large portions and a good amount of seafood. I would recommend to a friend.
The spring rolls were light & crispy, not at all oily. So delicious. The chicken in the chicken satay was a little dry but the two sauces were great. The lard na with chicken was very flavorful. The service was very quick and attentive. We will definitely go back.
Great place for carryout. Grabbed lunch lunch there one day and everything was super spicy and authentic. Looking forward to going back. Can't say too much about the atmosphere because I got carryout, but seemed fine.
Beware of 4inch long black hair in your Pad Thai! What a waste of money!
First and last time I go there. The food had a weird taste and it was way too spicy for "medium", we could barely eat it. We love Thai food and eat it frequently all over the US. We have our favorite spots but always willing to give a new place a try. The older lady who appears to be the owner does not have the greatest attitude. Mentioned it to the server and showed him the shell but he just brushed it off. At the time of the check, no apology, no discount, nothing. Again, it's all about the transaction. Wouldn't eat there again even for free!
Best Thai food I’ve ever eaten. As we were eating, the employees were hand making the spring rolls. Everything is fresh!!!
I didn't dine here. I drove by Restaurant in my car and Google is telling me I ate there. I did not. Weird
I’ve been to Nara Thai a few times now and they never disappoint. The red curry is delicious and spiced wonderfully. I’ve also gotten the drunken noodles and that was equally as good! I recommend the crab rangoons for an appetizer!
Great service and great food. Pad Thai is all time.
We love Thai food and this local spot does not disappoint! I only gave it 4 stars due to the cost. It is a bit on the pricey side, however, they make their food with lots of flavor, good portions sizes, and you can tell a lot of time and love goes into it. We have had the vegetarian spring rolls, drunken noodles with shrimp, basil fried rice, plain fried rice, Pad Prik Sod, and Mango sticky rice. We are Vegetarian/pescatarian and we've found great options. We like our food medium hot to extra hot (I'm the crazy one!) and they definitely understand the assignment. We have only taken out so I can't speak about the dining in experience. Great local spot! A must try!
Definitely not worth the money I spent! They forgot the rice even though I asked if it came with rice. And this tastes nothing like the Thai food I have gotten from other restaurants. Disappointing and wasted money.
I haven't had the experience of dining in the restaurant yet, only picking up. I can always count on my order being correct, hot and delicious. The staff is friendly and welcoming. It is our favorite Thai place in the Stafford area.
I was very excited about the pineapple fried rice, it was not bad but does not compare to many of the other places I have had it before.
Excellent food and great service. They were able to accommodate our party of 9 without hesitation and we had lots of fun new dishes.
Great Thai Spot!
Have been going here for almost a year. I tried a few different items - everything is delicious! I will keep coming back and try new things. I have not been disappointed.
Great local place to get Thai food. เมีย likes it and she has a hard time finding Thai restaurants that taste authentic. The employees are kind and attentive, but what else would they be - it is a Thai restaurant after all. Cozy and authentic, give it a try if you like Thai food.
Oh boy! So much Yum! 🙂 Clean, fresh, pleasant and efficient service! What a gem of a restaurant. ♡
Delicious, dine-in Thai restaurant just off Garrisonville Road/Route 610 in Stafford, Va. Lots of great menu choices. Food was super hot, freshly prepared and very tasty. Service was fast and friendly. Everything you want when going out for a meal. Highly recommend Nara Thai Cuisine.
I would give this place zero stars if I could, it’s disgusting. The food is awful, uninspired, lazy, dirty tasting, not seasoned well and definitely not Thai and I’m Thai. Besides the worst Thai food I’ve literally ever had, the older lady who works there is god awful, whoever told her it was a good job for her to work in any hospitality capacity obviously misled her. Bottom line is, if you have money keep it, do not spend it here at any cost, the positive reviews are probably ownership and staff trust me. This
place needs to close and the restaurant itself needs to be gutted and revamped so that nobody ever has to remember that this was ever here. Rotten seafood and boiled tough beef in the curry, cmon.
The food is so delicious and the staff is very courteous. Also lovely decor. Big fan of the chicken satay and pad thai. Beautiful utensils that look like gold.
Honestly not worth it
Been here a couple of times. Friendly, although when busy - don't expect them to chat you up! Food is simply amazing. It's about as close to authentic Thai as you can get outside of Thailand.
Prices everywhere are insane right now, so please don't hold that against these businesses. Otherwise, it's a great Thai place!
Consistently great food. We had the Penang curry, Drunken noodles, papaya salad, pad Thai, curried chicken lettuce wraps, and dumplings. Great flavor nuance between the various dishes. And Thai hot is very very very hot, so know what you’re ordering! Always love going here when I’m in the area.
The food is as delicious as the portions are huge! Great value for the price. Can't wait to come back!
Just a little hole in the wall, not a fancy place, but clean, service was great, no wait and the food was soooo delicious. We got lettuce wraps, yellow curry and Singapore noodles. Delicious!
The food is absolutely amazing, portions are generous, and they have takeout. You legitimately can't go wrong (pro tip: the drunken noodles are life-changing), and I can't recommend it enough.
The drunken noodles and panang curry are excellent! Very friendly.
Great Thai food, I eat here about once a week.
Service was a bit slow, food was ok, but prices were a little high.
Food was amazing! Crab Rangoons were the best I've had. Drunken noodles were awesome; I asked for them hot and they delivered on the spice. Most places say spicy but Nara actually means it! Super yummy. Only taking one star away because the woman who sat us and was greeting customers was not very friendly. She made sure drinks were filled and did a good job but never said one word. I would say thank you and also told her the food was wonderful; she didn't even reply. Other than that it was great and we will go again but maybe do take out instead.
Delicious!!!!!! We had the steamed dumplings and chicken satay for appetizers and then crispy chicken with ginger rice and Singapore noodles for our entrées!!! So, so GOOD!!! The restaurant is in a strip mall, but not hard to find. Quite a few tables but not crowded! Very clean and bright. Our waitress was extremely helpful and patient with us..... she offered suggestions and that's what we ordered. Great suggestions, too!! The Singapore noodles were awesome as was the ginger chicken! We then had sticky rice with mango for dessert....WOW, what a treat!! I'd never had it before, but I'll be asking for it again! A definite place to try if you're looking for great Thai food!!
What can I say? The food is very authentic, so delicious and the service was wonderful. Will go back again if i go back to VA.
They were so nice and absolutely kid friendly stopped on our long drive and they took care of us with excellent service and even better food!
Ordered beef and chicken pad Thai along with spring rolls.
Both items had an underlying taste…almost like the cooking oil is stale and reused. I eat Thai food often so I could tell it wasn’t just how they make it.
Wouldn’t suggest this place based off that. Did not finish my food, obviously, since it tasted dirty.
Way toooo much black pepper in their food. Hard to eat. Happened 3 times in a row so I'm guessing that's how they make it...yuk
Best thai curry ive had so far in the area! Green is spicy, masamun was great too!
This is my go-to thai spot. Will always recommend them to anyone looking for good thai food. The staff is beyond amazing. Their spring rolls are probably my favorite in the stafford/fauquier area. Any of their dishes can be made with tofu and veggies. My favorites are: pad ka prow, Singapore noodles, panang curry, pad see ew, ginger ginger, cashew chicken, and drunken noodles. I get these all with tofu and veggies.
Wonderful food! Never had a bad meal here.
Got the Chicken Satay, Spring rolls, and Num Tok. Sauces were odd all around. The peanuts sauce tasted too much like coconut cream for the satay and the vinegar sauce that came with it was very sweet. Spring rolls were good but not enough sauce for 4 little rolls. The beef from the salad had too much dressing and the meat was not the most appetizing.
The appetizers were awesome. Tried the rolls, fish cakes, and papaya salad. But the entrees were a bit disappointing. The Pad Thai was overcooked, the noodles were mushy and the Masamaan curry wasn't as thick as usual. More diluted like green curry. Maybe from a different area of Thailand? Per usual, the cost of food is expensive. For 3 appetizers, 2 entrees, and Thai tea, the meal was over $85 with a tip.
I like Thai House much better, but they just had a poor public health review 😫
This was really good. Surprised it's in Stafford. Ambience is pretty low key. I look forward to trying it again.
Its always have a good meal at nara.
If you are just after mediocre thai food this is the place to go. But if you want decent thai food this place ain't it. It was expensive too for what it was.
I've had thai food all over the globe and this was by far the worst in quality and flavor. I won't be returning even though I live down the street.
Our family of six had a variety of dishes. The dumpling appetizer was good and vegetable spring rolls were pretty typical. Those of us who ordered non-spicy (which is below the one pepper dishes on the menu) got dishes with some kick but overall we’re good. That said, they were not the non-spicy level that the waitress explained they would do. My daughter ordered mild to have some kick in her dish but it was a bit over spiced with hot pepper. Same with my wife. I also ordered mild and my dish was far hotter than my daughter’s. I did not enjoy it. The waitress asked me if my dish was too spicy when she saw me sweating and I told her yes. She just smiled like it was amusing to her and went away . I’ve been to Thailand dozens of times and had fantastic food there. Occasionally a place would over spice on purpose to see if I would eat it. It’s just something they do there to westerners. The experience here reminded me of that. At least in Thailand, they always immediately took the dish away and replaced it with a mild version. The bleach smell was heavy at the table but I understand that. The service was a little slow since they had a lot of take out business going. Overall, there are other better options close by, so I don’t need to go back. I would have tipped much better had they not been so heavy handed with the hot pepper and at least responded appropriately when I told them it was too much.
Nice place, staff is not friendly, but the food is delicious.
Fried rice was good. But the pad Thai is a bit too sour for me. Found a little hair in the pad thai(not sure if it’s mine). Thai iced too was okay, sorta musty
I eat here most days either for lunch or dinner. Hands down best Thai ever!
Legit Thai food with great service.
Best Thai food in Stafford.
On Saturday September 11th at around 1:30 my wife kid and I made the trek down to Stafford from Woodbridge to try this place. We were very excited about finding a new Thai place with high ratings. Unfortunately when we walked in we were met by a grimacing old bat. She never said a word to us she pointed to a table and slammed the menus down. Understanding that we weren't welcome to turned back around and walked out. She didn't bother to say a word to us or even look our way. I don't know why she had an issue with us but maybe I knew her informal life or she just didn't like the way I looked. Nobody should be treated that way she really drained some of our positive energy.
One of my favorite places in the area to get good Thai food. But after my recent visit I won't be back for awhile. I usually order the basil fried rice and it's usually filled to the brim. It's usually enough for my whole family to enjoy. This time the container was half empty and my children were upset there wasn't enough for seconds. I understand there's a pandemic but it sucks the customers are the ones getting the short end of the stick.
I will definitely be going back. It's not the best I've ever had but it ranks very high on my list. I ordered the ka prow beef and the sauce was absolutely delicious. I ordered it Thai Hot and this is probably the only place that actually means Thai hot (and that's a good thing!). Very generous portion. The take out container was rather small and it made it hard to mix the rice (minor problem).
Ok, the best Thai food I have ever had! The Chicken Satay is tender and delicious. The seafood Tom Kha soup is so smooth and a generous portion too. I love the Panama Curry Chicken, which is very tender and no fat hanging off of it.
Good Food. No lunch menu.
Love the food here. Full of flavor and spiced like Thai food should be.
clean restaurant, attentive staff, and most importantly delicious and healthy food. Try the guava salad for an exotic flavor or go for a curry. I get all my cheat meals here because I know it is not much of a cheat.
Without a doubt the best curry I’ve had in Virginia. So authentic, spicy, and everything I was looking for in a Thai place! Will be back
This place is amazing! The customer service is great. The food is delicious and worth the price.
Fried rice rice was amazing. I wanna visit with my parents.
Everything was magnificent!!!! 100% recommended
Love this place. Friendly, nice atmosphere. Love the pad thai and thai tea.
One of the best Thai restaurants in the area.
This Thai food is amazing!!! Service was great
as well. We will be back!
This is my favorite Thai food in the area. I’ve been getting take out here reliably since last summer literally such a hidden gem. My favs are their Pad Thai, Red Curry, and Drunken Noodles literally all of these dishes are 10/10 and I love spicy food so I’m not afraid of their Hot and Thai Hot levels so delish!!!
The food is ok, but there was a problem bc I asked for soy sauce & sriracha for my fried rice. Which is odd. Recieved looks & an attitude. So I definitely wont be going there!
Small but comfy, mostly to go customers. Food was great but limited menu, and pricy.
Great food as always
Everything I tasted is yummy, love the food
I really enjoyed the fried soft shell crab. The food was fresh.
Great tasty food. The spice levels were Medium, Hot, and Thai Hot and the Hot had a solid kick to it and I have a good tolerance towards spicy foods. They can make dishes without fish/oyster sauce if you are allergic. They did not seem to offer this option when I said I was vegetarian.
Must Try:
•Basil Fried Rice (Hot)
•Pad Thai
•Drunken Noodles (Hot)
Delicious and very quick service!
AMAZING FOOD!! 5 STAR SERVICE! We ordered pickup and forgot the drinks, when we called they delivered the missing drinks to our house!!! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!!! Food was great! Large portions! So tasty and fresh! We will make it a regular stop!
Amazing small business with the best food!!! I struggle deciding to eat thai anywhere else because nowhere else is this good.
Favorites include the pla sam ross (fried tilapia) and their three flavor sauce with it is incredible.
The basil fried rice is delicious and has crispy fried basil leaves on top. I see people buying it for pickup all the time. The steamed mussels(pictured)with lemongrass, galanga, and plenty of this fantastic broth at the bottom. Nam Tok, crying tiger, and other dishes you can get with their spicy marinated beef will get you hooked. Pad thai here is delicious of course if that’s all you’re familiar with but being adventurous here will pay off well. You will always see the same people working because they are dedicated and good at what they do. Please support this place.
Decent. Small portions. Expensive
Went here for the first time today since I’m in town visiting family. I am extremely disappointed. I ordered the crab fried rice and it was disgusting. It had zero flavor and a tiny amount of crab meat. Will never return!
Nara has been a go-to place for lunch pick-up for weeks now, and has never let me down. Every dish tried so far has been tasty, hot, fresh, and service has been nice as well. I cannot vouch for them on their dine-in experience, but would highly recommend them for a quick lunch pick-up; orders usually only take about 10 minutes before they're ready.
Review Update: Changed my initial review from four to five stars. Since my initial review, I’ve eaten at Nara several more times, and it seems they only get better.
Good food. Good service. I like the atmosphere. Clean. Good for kids. Clean bathrooms. Good parking even when it is busy. Very authentic Thai food. Good mango salad. Good pad thai. Good drunken noodles. Good pad se ew. When they say spicy, they mean it. Spicy levels Miles, Medium, Hot. Medium is enough for most. Steamed Dumplings are good, but a little meat heavy.
I am disappointed because I trusted this place and will not be going here again.
For the past few years, my family and I have been going here and have always mentioned to the waitress or person on the phone that we were vegetarians and we’re looking for vegetarian-friendly dishes to order, which means dishes with no fish, no oyster sauce, etc. The waitress would happily say they’d be able to replace fish and oyster sauce with vegetarian friendly sauces in the dishes, and so after they confirmed that we’ve been ordering Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles ever since. My family obviously got excited that we finally found a place that had options for us.
Fast forward to today, I tried ordering the same dishes, mentioning the same thing about being vegetarian and then after all this time they told me it’s impossible to make those same dishes by replacing the fish and oyster sauce with a vegetarian friendly sauce, even though that’s something they’ve confirmed several times in the past. After hearing that, I lost trust in this establishment since clearly they initially gave false information just to keep customers like us, which can be dangerous to those that have allergies and can get life threatening reactions.
Do not order from here, especially if you have dietary restrictions/allergies. Looks like they are not as transparent as they should be about what’s in their food.
Nara Thai let us down this time. We ordered carryout duck curry, duck spring rolls, and chicken pad thai.. The duck dishes were great, especially the duck rolls, but the pad thai was overcooked and dry, and the garnishes (green onion, bean sprouts, cilantro) were sparse and not fresh. The usual lime wedge was also missing. Perhaps it was a busy Friday night and they just couldn't keep up, but fresh and tasty pad thai is something you should be able to count on from a good Thai restaurant.
I have been going to this nice and clean restaurant since I moved here and I must say, they have remained consistent with their delicious food! It has become my favorite Thai restaurant, not only in Stafford but within Northern Virginia. Great food and excellent service, too!
This review has been a long time coming. It’s been 3 years since I first stepped foot in Nara Thai and I’ve figured out that I will always return. Prior to Covid I traveled frequently and was able to taste Thai from corners of the world but I will always return to Nara Thai in stafford... Why?, you ask?. Because they serve love.
Chef is extremely talented and puts her heart into every dish served here. Stafford is lucky to have her in our midst. This is not your average Thai spot!! The flavors are authentic and rich. Family lives here.. in every dish and interaction.
Please continue to support Nara Thai because they serve healthy, delicious, thoughtful dishes that warm the soul!! Post and Pre COVID they’ve taken every precaution but continue to serve with love. If you’re on the fence.. DO IT. If you’re a patron, continue to support small business.
They give their culture and taste to us so let’s continue to support them!!!

Food as always fresh and hot!! Best Thai in the area hands down!!
I ordered some of my longtime favorites, tom kha (medium spice), yum wansoon (medium spice) & mango w/sticky rice. The Tom Kha was absolutely perfect! Tender chicken, not too many vegetables. The Yum Wansoon was definitely not medium spice. There was zero flavor but the red chilies. I even tried rinsing it off w/hot water, in my strainer (I hate wasting food) but it's just inedible. Oh & there was no mango with the sticky rice. I would have bought some mango if I'd realized that the online menu & picture weren't correct. Plus the sticky rice was salty. That was another first. How does boiling rice in coconut milk = salty?
