Straightforward spot with an open kitchen making Thai classics with sushi, sashimi & cocktails.
My daughter and I enjoyed a dinner here on a weeknight. It wasn’t too busy and we were sat right away. We loved the window table we were at, looking out over Cary Street. We shared 3 rolls, seaweed salad, and shrimp tempura, which also comes with tempura vegetables. The specialty roll was huge. It was more than enough food for the two of us. I would definitely come back.
We had the entire restaurant to ourselves for a little and the customer service was great!!! Even after some customers came in, our customer service was still good. The margarita was delicious and we loved the giant single ice cube in it. The sushi rolls were on the small side, but happy hour price Maki rolls are not bad. The restaurant is well decorated and has cute vibe inside. It was an easy stroll from the canal walk to the restaurant. Food was good. Not the best best taste and quality of Thai food that we have had. 5 for service and atmosphere
I was absolutely surprised!
The food was excellent! I had pad Thai and asked for it to be spicy. Spot on! Shrimp was a decent size, fresh and cooked just right. Not dry nor old.
Everything was great! We had a little miscommunication with our order BUT our waiter was able to make it right. He was actually VERY kind and he was very attentive for him being the only waiter at the time with a few tables. My table was content with their food and service. If I’m ever finding myself back in the area I would make the effort to stop by.
First time to try this resto. Good service and the Thai foods that we ordered are worth to try. I have ordered the soft shell crab appetizer and loved it and also the pork basil with rice! Have tried the mango sticky as well I would say was okay coz of the coconut milk it’s not really that coco Hahhaa but still recommend this place 🙂
This place is definetly a hole in the wall find. The food was super tasteful and really healthy portions. Sushi was nice and fresh and the food had a great kick to it. They accidently messed up my order so they gave us that plate of extra food which we ended up giving it away to someone in need.
The staff was Super friendly and gave us great recommendations.
The inside was super nice and clean and so were the bathrooms.
Where else can you get maki rolls this amazing for $4.00?!?!?!?! Their happy hour (4-7pm) is incredible and the food and service are great! We had eaten in the other location (more Thai, no sushi) and thought to give this location a try. We were glad we did and we'll definitely be back!
A nice place in the neighborhood. I enjoyed the good pad see ew and dumplings. Service was average. Would come back and try again.
Went and got seated, after sitting for about 15 minutes we had to grab one of the servers to ask for a menu ourselves. Then we waited another 20 minutes until we finally left since no one acknowledged us or would take our order.
I often get food delivered from this place, but this was my first time dining in. They absolutely didn't disappoint. The place is beautiful, and the service was awesome.
This was yummy 😋
The service is amazing, and food is some of the best I have ever had. The owner is super friendly and polite, and I always look forward to seeing him there! I am a regular now :)
One of the best restaurants I've been to in the area. Food is fantastic, everything you order is fresh and delicious. The staff is the most helpful and the owner only wants you to experience the best time here. It's my new regular place to go out to eat!
The guy in there is the best waiter I think anyone could ever have. You’re in good hands when you go to mom’s siams2
I work 10 hours and doordashed the Crab Fried Rice. A waste of $20. No flavor. Taste like the only used lemons and cilantro to season this. So disappointed!!!
Mom’s Siam is delish and so fresh! Every dish we tried was excellent! Definitely stop in on your next stop to downtown Richmond
Yeap it's good. I drop in from out of town specifically to get good Thai.
The servant missed up with order and brought something different. The Asian servant was rude and impolite and dismissing my what i am saying. I wouldn't recommend this place.
Really great Thai food. The owner/server was so proud to take our order. The chicken and vegetables (Pad King Prik) were really fresh and service was quick. It was a bit hot in the restaurant or I would give a 5.
Worst pinapple fried rice you ever eat..its all bland and hardly find a pineapple piece in it..i asked the server and they made anoter one and it was worse than the first order...never try pineapple firedrice here...
Really like Mom's Siam. Especially with all the places gone post COVID, they've done a good job staying on top of their game. Last time it was pretty loud but it seemed like there was a big group event going on. Overall its a quality go to for work or casual social fare
Terrible experience. My girlfriend and I went here and were the only people I. The establishment was empty and then suddenly got busy after we arrived. To be fair it was lunch time, but when I say everyone literally was served food before we even got ours, everyone was eating. This place is ridiculous. And had the nerve to still charge us a $70 bill.
First time to try this resto. Good service and the Thai foods that we ordered are worth to try. I have ordered the soft shell crab appetizer and loved it and also the pork basil with rice! The service was fantastic! The food was excellent! What I've had is great! Both dine in and takeout.
My husband and I went there for lunch today. 10 mins. Later still no water or the beverages we ordered. I ordered an appetizer. My husbands meal arrived before my appetizer arrived it was soup. My meal and appitizer arrived after my husband finished eating. Our afternoon date lunch was very dissapointed. I had to bring my meal home. My husband was tired of wating for my food. The owner and staff was well aware of the of the delay. No apologies were given. Food costs so much these days, however eating alone was not acceptible we will not be returning!!!!!!
The food was fine. The service was bad. Our server kept her earbuds in the entire time. We had to ask multiple times for items. At one point she was standing right by our table on her phone and we tried to get her attention multiple times before the cook came over to tell her we needed help. The restaurant was empty also so it wasn’t like she was busy.
I didn't like it. The receptionist, the bartender, the waiter all rolled into one. Doesn't have time for anything. The food is not super tasty, as they say in the reviews. She left hungry! I would not recommend this place!!! I am writing a review for the first time, never before. But to ruin the evening so much, I'm shocked! Spend 40$ for what???
Great food and service!!
A must stop if you’re in Richmond, great tasty and fresh food. Stir Fry, Hot and Spicy Soup, and Sushi; just super.
My daughter and I enjoyed a dinner here on a weeknight. It wasn’t too busy and we were sat right away. We loved the window table we were at, looking out over Cary Street. I've had nothing but great experiences here. It's one of my go-to thai spots. I only try the curries and stir fry dishes so I can't vouch for the sushi. What I've had is great! Both dine in and takeout.
Nothing to write home about. Pad Thai was 99.9% plain-ish noodles. Not very flavorful. Sushi was mostly rice. Won’t be returning.
Went there for lunch. Ordered the lunch special which came with few side options. Choose hot & sour soup along with chicken basil curry. So good and delicious. Would definitely recommend it for others.
Really good food, definity recommend, good service too. Fried rice, damn good, best rice from any asian spot ive had
Had the Papaya Salad and Panang Curry and both were very delicious and the right amount of spicy, service was quick and friendly!
The manager was awesome!
LOVE the food. Amazing pricing and amazing customer service as well. I come here weekly.
The food was amazing, I had to go back and try it because of the smell!!!! everything was delicious
I tried this place for lunch today with my coworker. The food was amazing and the man, who I think was the owner or manager, was extremely friendly and nice. I will definitely be going back!
We had the entire restaurant to ourselves for a little and the customer service was great!!! Even after some customers came in, our customer service was still good. The margarita was delicious and we loved the giant single ice cube in it. The sushi rolls were on the small side, but happy hour price Maki rolls are not bad. Unbelievably DELICIOUS!!!! I’ve had Thai food many times in my life and I’ve never had Massaman Currry and Tom Kai soup like this before. Authentic, flavorful, chicken was so tender hmmmm mmm good! We also had the fried rice and sushi-tasty! Excellent price as well. Service and ambiance were top notch too.
The food here has really really good. I tried this restaurant as I originally tried the Mom's Siam Restaurant and figured they were the same. While the food was a little different, I really enjoyed it anyway. I would recommend trying this restaurant and will return if ever in town.
I had the Chicken wings and chicken Thai fried rice at 4/5 spicy.
I absolutely love thai food so this was fantastic
I mean, I've never been to Thailand, but of the Thai food that I've had, this place has the best. Also really good sushi and really reasonable prices. The staff is always friendly and helpful.
The restaurant is a little small and packed, but given the location, you can't really expect more.
Very welcoming place perfect location if you can grab the window seat its a very romantic spot ..food was good but the true gem was the service very attentive and friendly was pleased with our jolly waiter.. 🙏 thanks
Overall, the food was very tasty and great atmosphere!
When I had an issue with my appetizer, the waitress fixed it right away!
I’ll definitely be back!
Service was fast, efficient and friendly. The food was excellent and plentiful. Environment was nice and quiet, so we had a great dinner with friends!
Where else can you get maki rolls this amazing for $4.00?!?!?!?! Their happy hour (4-7pm) is incredible and the food and service are great! We had eaten in the other location (more Thai, no sushi) and thought to give this location a try. We were glad we did and we'll definitely be back!
My friend picked up sushi from here for me and its by far the worst sushi Ive ever had! On top of them charging me $7 for a roll that says its $5.50 online! Absolutely terrible.
Good sushi and Thai curry
One of my favorite spots to eat on my cheat day
$15 lunch “special” took 30+ minutes, making me late for work.
I've eaten here twice now and both times the food was great and the service was outstanding 10 out of 10 recommended 👌
Many good restaurants on East Carey Street in Richmond, Virginia. We hardly tried them all, but one of the best must be Mama Siam 2, directly across the street from where we stayed. It is an unpretentious place, reminiscent of the neighborhood restaurants of a generation or two ago. Yut, our server, greeted us warmly, gave us the best table in the house, and took good care of us.
I ordered Massaman curry with shrimp and a side of steamed vegetables. My husband had his Thai-Lao favorite--Khao Soi, with noodles in a spicy, coconut broth with seafood added
The food and service was so good we took some home for breakfast!
Food was wonderful. Service needs attention
What a hidden gem!
Great service, delicious food friendly staff
I had a bad experience at the restaurant. A person came to take the order from me and i had ordered two things and he confirmed from me the same. But after 30 mins the server comes up to me and tells we don't see any other order for you, it was just the miso soup. I had to re order the second dish again, and the server did not even consider asking me about the other order. They gave me the bill after first food item only and I had to order the second time again and wait for another 10 mins for the food to come. The food was tasty but the service was poor.
The restaurant is a tad small and can crowd up pretty fast, but the food and service are so good that you probably won't mind. I highly recommend the red curry
The food here is awesome. Every time we go the wait time isn't bad either. The only complaint we have is that they're always little nets flying around and it's hard to enjoy your food. The last time we ordered we took our food home.
Much better places around town that treat people better. This place served me bugs and called the cops on me when they wanted to charge me full price for it.
Really nice cocktails and the pad thai with tofu was spot on. Dropping a star because my partner got the pineapple fried rice and we both agreed it was pretty flavorless. Otherwise, cute interior and friendly servers!
The servers are more like extended family to us. This is our go-to spot, and we live in Midlothian! Our grandmother, who is a true southern belle, tried the sushi and loved it. 🙂 The servers are congenial, observant and amazing. The chef will modify the meal to your preference. The vibes are peaceful and full of light. We highly recommend Mom's Siam 2!❤️
I don’t usually review places, but I have to forewarn other sushi diners: the maki rolls, i.e. the typical sushi rolls you might buy, were lumpy with way too much rice, and the rice was spongy and gooey. Too much of that orange mayo-based sauce dripped on top. And the pieces of sushi were so big that you couldn’t really fit them in your mouth in one bite. We were cutting each piece in half sloppily breaking up the seaweed wrap.
In short: I’ve probably been to 50 sushi restaurants in my life and this was in the bottom three.
Had lunch with my wife here today. Very friendly staff, huge menu. Both of our meals were piping hot, very generous portions and absolutely delicious. A+
Excellent Thai food in downtown Richmond! I make it a point to stop here every time I'm in town. The place is fairly small. So if you're going for lunch, try to arrive before the normal lunch rush but they do move people through pretty quickly. Great service and awesome Thai!!
Fernando should be your waiter. He's literally the best.
Why have we not gone here before?? We had Pad Thai and spicy shrimp shushi. The pricing was cheaper than expected for the portion size not to mention the quick service and hospitality was glorious! Hidden between stores/restraunts we have walked past this location many times, that will not be the case any longer… be stopping in every time we go out into the city.
Sorpresa deliciosa en un viaje corto en Richmond! Comida tailandesa super sabrosa!!
3 main things service, food and price point. This restaurant has Aced in service, food and price point too. We ordered rva roll , Tom yum fried rice, green curry, udon noodles and Tom preek. I have to say that none of them disappointed. Food was finger licking good, staff was really attentive and nice and price point was well aligned. Will visit again when back in Richmond...
We've eaten here many times and it's usually a good experience, but not today. My husband ordered gluten free drunken noodles for lunch and has been extremely sick (throwing up) ever since. Allergies like this are serious, not a dietary choice. Unfortunately, we won't be returning. I am only posting this because I hope the feedback will encourage the restaurant to be more mindful/careful when people express they have a dietary restriction.
Amazing customer service, been going to that location for 5years! Best atmosphere, customer services, friendly and amazing food 😋🤤🤤 super spicy the way I like it!
Excellent food, service. Great Happy Hour and amazing staff!!!
We came for lunch on a Saturday and we were early so it was very quiet. The food was good and had some nice variety that you don't find everywhere. I had the duck soup and it was a super tasty broth and quite filling. Green Papaya salad was excellent and not shy on flavor which is a must. Service was good and food came out promptly. Mild negative the hot tea came out lukewarm but that's a small annoyance and the kids were happy no wait tea.
Wouldn't order the Tom Yum Seafood Soup for takeout. It comes in a pint-sized container that's not filled all the way up. So you get about 8 ozs of soup for $10.00. Also, the seafood is only 2 shrimp and 4 very small squid/octopus rings and the rest is broth. If you want soup for takeout, I'd advise getting the "bowl" of Hot and Sour Soup. It's only $5.00 and comes in the same size container as the Tom Yum. Normally, everything I get from here is great, just not the soup this time.
Really enjoyed lunch & service.
Hands down some of the best Thai food in richmond! Unusually get the Drunken Noodles or the Chicken Basil and both are delicious.
Overall a good experience. Excellent food. Service was okay. Friendly staff.
The service is sweet. The tom yum soup is terrible. TOOOO sweet. I get that people make it lots of different ways but the overwhelming flavor is just canned tomato paste. Super sweet, not sour, and not even a hit of chilis. Heard good things about their drunken noodle, but I won't be going back to find out.
Stopped in because I really wanted basil chicken. I sat and waited for 10 minutes without any help. I was patient with it until 3 white women were seated and immediately helped within 2 minutes of being in the restaurant.
Our favorite Thai place! Great food, fresh sushi, and nice customer service! And super fast takeout!
Always loved the food here. That new nuclear drink they make is crazy!
Tasty drinks, delicious Thai food, and a cool location conveniently located near the canal walk right across from Fountain Bookstore. All my items were very good! And great portionn sizes. I will have leftovers.
Just a short walk from the canal walk.
Excellent food and drinks. Very nice building and shop.
Had an awesome meal at Mom's Siam today. Great pad see eaw!
Mediocre food and poor staff knowledge of their own dishes detracts from this restaurant. The Pad See Ew noodle dish had food noodles, sauce, and broccoli, but the beef was tough, chewy, and over cooked. The sashimi slices were thin and had the texture of being just recently defrosted. Additionally, the sashimi was served on a bed of lettuce that had some brown spots indicating the lettuce was less than fresh. Finally, one of the staff members mis-represented the number of slices per sashimi order.
My go to dinner spot everytime I'm in town! Food is great and very tasty. Service is excellent!
Very good ! Fresh and clean.. I had. The sushi and drunken noodles
Large portions, helpful staff, delicious food, and cozy atmosphere. The staff was able to explain the menu and wine selection pairing, and both my friend and I went home with a ton of leftovers! Great value and flavors for your money.
Terrible Service with no one in the restaurant on a weekday after work, they basically asked if I was there to order food to stay in our takeout from a table they were sitting at. Didn't bother to do anything but keep asking me what I was there for while looking at the menu, when I said I wanted to order a drink as well, as I was sitting at the bar, they then proceeded to tell me the bartender isn't there so I won't be getting served, although they where there and most likely could serve me themselves but I got hint they just didn't want to serve me at all.
This place will continue to be empty with horrible customer service like this.
I have to be honest this was the worst Thai food we have ever eaten and actually threw the entire meal away. This was take-out order yesterday 6/1/22. Where do I start. steamed veggie dumplings all stuck together like wet mush. When I tries to separate they just broke open and became a mess. Veggie Side soaked in water with no absolutely flavor. Mussels two were real pink and fresh, all others dark brown and out of concern for freshness I stopped eating them. Tofu and shrimp was drowned in sauce, tofu was soggy from an excessive amount of sauce. My daughter was starving so she just ate her stir fry chicken. That said; I would appreciate a full refund prior to me disputing the purchase with American Express.
Ava was great! The food was so yummy! A little disappointed that our soup, sushi AND main course came out at the same time, but not enough to reduce the score.
I haven’t had Thai in sometime, walked in and greeted politely and was asking for assistance in helping me order as I like a lot of spicy food.
The waitress was very accommodating with helping me make my decision and I was very satisfied with my meal.
Spicy, very delicious, as I ordered the drunken noodles with chicken. I look forward to coming back here again as I got it to go and it was made and out the door in 5 minutes. This is on a Saturday at 7 PM, so it wasn’t too busy at the time. But that is very fast and I like that.
I got the Pad Thai and it probably is the most disappointing meal I have had in years. Just generally not good.
The service was good, so at least there is that.
Love the Dunkin’ fried rice and noodles.
Be aware how much they charge you.
The price they charge is higher than the menu price and they changed higher tip amount than I wrote. (It was take out not even dine in)
I ordered Tom yum soup but it doesn’t taste like Tom yum soup just basically sugar and chilies hot water. You have better choices if you want Thai food.
A fine Thai restaurant that was not very busy, but was quite tasty.
Best Tom Yum Noodle Bowl I've ever had.
The sushi here is great but there is a female waitress who likes to swipe your card twice so be weary of her and think about paying with cash because this is not the first time.
friendly, prompt service at 530 on a friday evening. Have eaten there several times and food is always excellent.
Great little spot right downtown. Lots of selection and delicious food!! Wonderful service that was helpful and attentive!
Great place for brunch. Thai food is some of the best in Richmond hands down. Service was excellent and very prompt. They were very accommodating to special requests and overall a positive experience! Will definitely be back.
Super hot and fresh pad Thai. Fast and friendly service. The spicy table condiments/sauces are absolutely phenomenal. So far absolutely zero diarrhea. Highly recommended. Will definitely be returning.
Edit: never mind. Just took 45 minutes to kick in.
The sushi is bad. I should have known better than to order sushi from a "Thai" restaurant...in Richmond. That's on me.
The sushi deluxe option is BS. Four shrimp, four tuna, four salmon and, of course, two escolar. Why not just give me all egg sushi or whatever else is cheapest? Out of 14 pieces, no yellowtail or eel or anything else?? You will leave full, though, if you eat all of the rice they give you. Here, apparently the ratio of rice to fish is 3.5 to 1.
Disgusting
Everything was delicious! Sushi was tasty and fresh.
We had lunch today & the sushi combo 2 is very filling. You get 3 rolls for $12.95. The place was clean & the staff was very professional & pleasant. The spicy tuna roll was delicious!
The customer service and the food was great
The food was delicious and service was prompt. One thing we noticed was the one guy who first served us was off putting and in a hurry it seemed. He must've been getting off work because a young nice lady took over. It affected the tip however.
Best lunch in downtown Richmond.
We had the Rice Soup and the Thai Noodle soup with beef. Both were fantastic!! The restaurant has a great atmosphere and is in a really cool location. I definitely recommend!
Delicious Thai food
Average chicken pad Thai, atmosphere, and customer service.
Covid sensitive. Great food. Great staff.
Great food and friendly stuff
The food was GREAT! And the SERVICE was even better!
Discovered this gem just down from our hotel, my wife loved the thai food and I loved the sushi. Really glad we found it
This place is so delicious 😋 and the service is fantastic ⭐️
Great food! If you are in Downtown Richmond and like Thai or Sushi Mom's Siam is a great alternative.
Delicious. Friendly Staff. Cool Vibe. Local Biz. Big Portions. Take half home. Mom's Siam - please change from styrofoam doggie bags.
Good food. Knowledgeable servers. Great service. Enormous portions (come hungry or share)
My server is probably the coolest dude I've ever met. His name is Colton and he knows everything about the food here. He was patient with us and recommended us the perfect combinations of food and drinks. I love this freaking place
Wow! One of (if not the) best Red Curry's I have ever had. So so good. The staff was very attentive and kind.
Always a pleasure
Awesome restaurant...food and wait staff.
Great food. Attentive service.
Great food at a good price. The wait to pick up is never long and staff is super nice!! Can’t wait to go in for a sit down meal because it’ll be even better.
Always delicious! Seems to be a step up in flavor and quality from Cary town location.
I am a delivery driver. So I only pic up from this restaurant. But heard the food is delicious.
Went a few weeks ago tonight idk what happen in the kitchen. Turmoil and confusion in orders. The servers were very hospitable but somebody kept coming up short this time. Everyone entitled to a bad night #forgiven
