I have been coming here for years. I traveled all around the world and this is one of my favorite Thai places. The people are very friendly and welcoming. The food is always fresh and delicious.

The only reason I can’t give it 5 stars is because they really need to work on the booths.. the furniture is old and some booths seem broken. They would probably get more repeat business if they focused on that.

The food is AMAZING! We got the spring rolls and Money bags for appetizers and a won ton soup. I got the Pad See Ew with chicken for an entree and my husband got the Pad Woon Sen. We got fried ice cream for dessert. All of that and the bill came to under $100 (I had 3 beers and my husband had 2). Everything was DELICIOUS and the service was wonderful! It's a small place but they really make you feel welcome and at home! Can't wait to go back!

Absolutely the best Thai joint in Richmond. They renovated the place during the pandemic. It looks great and the takeout food during the pandemic has been awesome every time. The service is always friendly and very family oriented. You feel like family when you dine in. The spicy noodle soup is my go to and the Bangkok chicken drumsticks are great for football season.

The Basil Duck was too salty over use of onions peppers in almost every dishes I ordered. The Thai fried rice was okay. I would eat somewhere else if you want more authentic Thai.

Price went up, taste going down. Basil fried rice's color wasn't like before it was darker brown. The taste is bland too. Guessing cooker changed. I'm a little bit disappointed.

Let me tell you!!! The food and service here were out of this world. We got the money bags as an appetizer. Truly delicious and amazing. Great presentation on those as well. All the food was fresh, tasted great, and we could really tell that everyone involved here really cared. Our server also seemed to be the bartender and person on the register. He was very kind, helpful, and happy go lucky! Loved the full experience here, we will be returning, thank you so much!

Cozy New York bistro atmosphere at night, and the food is exceptional. I’ve been going since they opened 5 or so years ago and it’s one of my top 4 restaurant in the Richmond area. TRY THE SPICY NOODLE SOUP. It’s the best pho style soup I’ve had. The depth of flavor blows regular pho out of the water. Bangock chicken is a close second. Lightly battered. Soooo crispy. Mind blowing flavor profile.

Great place for genuine Thai food. We've eaten there several times, mostly for lunch. We like the green curry pork and summer rolls. We've only tried a few other dishes on the menu but have enjoyed each. If you like Thai food or even think you might like it, give this restaurant a visit.

We have come here multiple times, especially for their teas to go! We absolutely love it! The host is always so sweet and efficient. Definitely recommend!

Food might have been the best Thai I've ever had and even though one guy was running the whole show the service was outstanding, we will be back!

I used to like their food a lot but this last order I requested it medium spice and instead of adding the spice in the food they put the chili flakes in a little cup instead. Was disappointed because the spice didn’t end up dispersed evenly.

The yellow curry is the best yellow curry ive ever had by far its so good, I usually get curry once a week for lunch and I wish I could make it over here for lunch id come every week.

Marigold Thai is one of my favorite places in all of Mechanicsville. Whether I’m ready to celebrate with friends, or quietly recovering after a hard week—Marigold always makes me feel better. The food is delicious and portion sizes are large. There’s always quiet music going and a calming movie. I recommend it to everyone, especially people with social anxiety. This is a super low-key and delicious dining experience. Try the Massaman Curry or the Noodle Soup with Chicken if you’re not sure where to start, both are mild and delightful.

I came here on a Tuesday night, this restaurant is quite small but the lighting makes it comfortable and spacious.

For my appetizer, I got the garden rolls. They were tightly compacted which makes it easier for the individual pieces to not fall off, unlike certain restaurants in Richmond. The sauce paired nicely, not too salty, similar to hoisin sauce but a bit more umami. The added crunch of the peanut bits faired quite well, it was a nice texture component. The earthy flavor paired well, bringing together the whole appetizer.

For my main, I gotten the pad see ew. Rich umami, extremely savory dish. The flat rice noodles were fun to eat, a very bouncy texture. For my protein I gotten the tofu, it absorbed the sauce nicely. The outside bit crunchy and chewy, with some charred marks (charred favor added more flavor making it taste better), all in all, a very savory dish to end the night.

Lastly for my dessert, the fired ice cream was delicious, but my only complaint is how thick the breading was. It was a bit hard to break the shell. It tasted fine, I guess, nothing to be expected. But once I break through the shell, I notice how rich and cream yellowish color the ice cream looked. It was like custard when I bit into it. Smooth and delicate.

Anyways that’s my experience.

We ordered here for the first time last night and it just wasn’t good. I had the Pad and mixed vegetables and it was completely flavorless. I had to go outside to pick some of my Thai basil and added to it plus some other seasonings because it literally tasted like nothing. My daughter ordered the Bangkok chicken. All it was was a bunch of chicken that would be used for sweet-and-sour chicken. It had the smallest amount of sauce and a couple of little pieces of broccoli and carrots in it it was Terrible. My husband ordered the Drunken Noodles. He said it was just ok. We normally eat Thai from Mom Siam in Carytown so we know what good Thai food taste like. Super disappointed because this place is right up the road!! Over $50 for three blah meals 😒

Really good food, good service, moderately priced

My sister, friend, and I hit this spot because it's a good halfway point from where we each live. The food was amazing! I got the Pad Thai, sis got the Pad See Ew, and our friend got some kind of chicken soup. Delicious!! The Pad See Ew was the best. So much flavor.
It took quite some time to be waited on for our drinks. Our food orders came out quickly though so that was nice. The building was stuffy, not sure if the AC was working but each of us got a bit sweaty from the heat. I would eat here again- but might try during the cooler months.

Marigold Thai is my favorite in the area and tonight they again showed me why. Food was delicious as always but it’s the service that sets them apart. Truly the best customer service around and the food is incredible! Cannot recommend them enough.

Wonderful, amazing perfection

Awesome hole in the wall place with about 10 tables. Got the spicy noodle soup and tofu pad thai. Flavors were amazing. Nothing greasy or poorly seasoned. Service was very prompt and the server was extremely polite. I ordered the soup as "American hot", I'll get "thai hot" next time. Portion sizes were great. Prices very reasonable: $35 for two entrees and an appetizer. We'll definitely be back.

Decided to give this a try. Really excited because we love Thai food. No AC on a 95+ degree day. Still wanted to try it…. Took forever for them to clean a table for us to sit. Never had a chance to try the food because we were never greeted or served. They were too busy taking to go orders coming in after us.

We come here with a large group, more than a dozen people. The staff are nice, they serve our large order in good time. The place is quiet, good for conversation.

A hidden gem in Mechanicsville. Food was excellent and our waitress was nice. Really surprised we had the restaurant to ourselves almost the entire time we were there on a Saturday evening. They definitely do a lot more takeout orders as I saw at least 10 customers come in for orders.

I'm a regular at this place. You have the freedom to pick and choose how you want your food to come out. For example I usually get drunken noodles, with tofu, fried chicken, extra thai basil, spice level extra thai hot. I even have them bring out the spice rack if I want to torture myself even more. The owner is very polite and respectful and even let us try a new drink on the house which they were going to start serving at a later time. Always a good experience when I go!

First time here, our dishes were good. So much it’s worth getting again. Only complaint I have is place was a little warm inside and no ice with our water refill and water was at room temperature.

Not a good visit at all. We walked in, stood at the "welcome" counter for 2 minutes before being greeted and asked if we were dining in, we were, was told there was a table in the back and she left to go do other things. We sat down, brought menus and dropped them on the table. Came back 5 minutes later for food and drink order. Drinks came pretty quick (water and coke) appetizer came about 10 minutes later, the chicken wontons were pretty okay. Dinner came about 15 minutes later. I got the marigold fried rice, the rice had almost no flavor to it and the fried chicken was kind of... wet, and the sauce was overly sweet. Wife had pad see ew, she said the noodles were slimey. Got checked on once after we got our food. Had to wait to flag down the waitress when she was dropping food off at another table to hand her my card to pay. Didn't take what was left home.

Great Thai for a reasonable price! We’ll definitely be back!

Had a really great dinner at Marigold Thai! The atmosphere is quiet, beautiful, & welcoming. I haven't had Panang Chicken Curry in forever and had to order it. One of the most amazing Panang Curry in RVA Area. Never tried Drunken Noodles and it was almost (Almost 😜) as the Panang Curry. The service was steady, friendly, and sincere. Truly a special treat for all of those who love great food. Will definitely be back!

Never seen fried rice being so sticky/mushy. Also, never seen tom yum soup having such thick tomato chunks.

This place is small. Everything took forever. Menus brought to us, orders taken, and bill. I have never had rice noodles, so it just might be my preference that I didnt like them. The flavor was good but the texture was sticky and squishy. Couldnt get past it. The cilantro rice was really good. You can add chicken, pork or shrimp to it. This is what I will order if I ever go back. But I dont think so.

One of the best Thai Curry meals I've had in Virginia. Hidden gem for sure.

We haven't grabbed a photo yet, but they are yummy. The volume is a little bit less than at some restaurants (I ate my entire serving of Massaman Curry, but I ate no rice.) But the flavor was uber yummy and I asked for mild, and it was not too spicy at all. It's a little thicker than I've had it at some places, and I like that.

Very Good! This is a necessary try! Replacement for Ginger Red since they adhere to corrupt policies.
Food is excellent, however portions are very small. Hard to leave feeling full

We started with the Garden and Spring Rolls and then ordered three of the noodle dishes including the Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, and the Drunken Noodles. We loved everything we ordered and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We recommend and would go often if we lived nearby, Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Great asian food at an affordable price. Did online ordering and pickup. The only thing I could say that wasn't great was when my order was ready. Placed order and was given a pickup time of about 40 minutes later. Not super long but not immediate either. Guess I'm spoiled by Chick-fil-A.

Oh so good food! Had lunch here, will definitely be back. We shared 2 appetizers: shrimp garden rolls (cold) & dumplings (hot). Generous portions, lovely presentations, plenting of delicious dipping sauce. Both were very fresh with complex flavors. We both had vegetable red curry for the main dish. Loaded with perfectly cooked vegetables, piping hot, delicious. Wait staff was attentive but not hovering. Such a good meal! Couldn't stop talking about it all day.

My wife and I came for a late date night. The restaurant was busy at 830pm and we took that as a good sign, and we soon found out why.

We were promptly greeted and sat. Menus and drink orders were taken quickly by their fantastic staff.

I had the Thai Iced Tea which was phenomenal and first time trying one. We shared the Thai Money Bags appetizer, I had Basil Thai Fried Rice, and my wife had the Drunken Noodles.

All of our food was hot, fresh, and cooked perfectly and well balanced. I will definitely be returning.

I've only ordered take out but this place is fantastic. Everything is always delicious and hot when we receive it! I try to go to new restaurants every time I eat out but this is the one place my husband and I always go to! Everyone is always super nice when we pick up our food as well! 10/10 love this place!

Terrible Thai. Fried rice was mush. Beef salad was bland, beef was not seared or grilled, more like boiled. Lab salad is bland and meat tasted steamed or boiled. Pad Thai was flavorless. They use rice vermicelli. Not flat noodles. Completely incorrect. They need to turn up the heat. Get the pans nice and hot before cooking. It make a difference. It’s Cooking 101.

Was excited to try this i just found it last night and so i got pad thai for lunch....this does not look or taste like pad thai. And the smell was horrid. They were so busy too like how can people eat this? I was disgusted at the smell and taste their garden roll was also gross i had one bite and spit it out. The only thing i got that was good was the spring rolls. But really how do you mess that up. I gave 2 stars because they have good customer service.

#1Extremely pricy, for the amount of food that you get. #2 fried rice on 2 different orders was over cooked and soggy, portions are small. #3 only 1 waitress working and wait times are horrible, prepare to do your own math on the check and leave cash, because you might not catch her for 20 minutes.#4 dumplings were 7$ for 6 of them, and the size of the dumplings measure to about the size of a normal persons thumb..... #5 thai food is known for being spicy and having a kick of heat. No heat or the spice was present. I wouldn't come back here for a long time.

Warm friendly environment.

I'm not sure what happened in the past year or so but their recipes have become more plain, smaller, and more expensive. Every dish my Wife and I ordered today was missing core ingredients or had changed slightly from when we first started eating their originally.

The rice used to be fresh with lot's of moisture, egg, and garnished nicely, lately it's been subpar close to that of instant rice, dry to the point it wouldn't stick to the chicken like it used to.

The Marigold Fried rice is now noticeably less chicken yet costs more. Also seems to be a lower quality chicken then it used to be, also not as crunchy as it used to be. That had been my favorite but no longer is.

Pad Prik Poa was good but no longer had the mushrooms like it used to, which was my wife's favorite.

I'll try again sometime far in the future but it's hard to want to spend more money when you know it's on lesser quality. I would rather pay a premium for the original Marigold Thai quality, I truly miss it

It's still good food, with a kind staff and worth checking out.

Came across this restaurant by accident, but definitely recommend it. The food was excellent and there were a lot of menu options. The whole ambiance of the place was cozy and peaceful, too. I took one star off of five because it was too short-staffed for the amount of people that were there. We also waited awhile for the food to come out, but it was ultimately worth it.

Had curry here. Was very good. We just had carryout but I like the inside seating and lots of big windows for natural light.

Food is great, but service is extremely poor. Took 1 hour to get our appetizer and over an hour and a half to get our food. It seemed like they were cooking for the door dashes and Uber eats before us. Will never think about dining in again. Extremely poor service.

If I could I would rate it 10/5 the service was so nice and the food was AMAZING, I've never tasted anything better!!! I definitely plan on going there again and suggest anyone else to go too!!!

Thai iced tea was really good. Wonton soup has a little bit of ginger or something in it that I really liked. A little bit different than most other places. Pad Thai dish also great. Marigold offers 6 levels of "heat" or spiciness which really let's you dial it in.

Called my family and my food in said it would take about 20 to 30 minutes cool no problem gotta stop somewhere before I get there. I get there and the food wasn't ready it took them maybe a hour till our food was ready and the food had leaked everywhere cause they decided to put everything sideways. I ate my food and I barely even touch it and my stomach was killing as if I at a 4 course meal. And now I ended losing all of my meal. I have been going here for a while now and I am very disappointed. I hope everything gets straighten out soon.

Just moved to Virginia from NYC, and excited to get on my Google Maps Reviews grind 😎 first up is Marigold Thai! I don’t have my furniture or silverware delivered yet, so I decided to order some takeout. I called about 45 minutes before closing and he told me it would be around a 45 minute wait because they just got busy. No problem.

As I’m getting into the car about 20 minutes later he calls just to inform me it was ready earlier than expected. Very nice of them to do!

Got there and the greeter was very friendly and helpful, and gave me my pad Vegetable dish, pictured below. I shot right home, and the smells alone were intoxicating 🤤

Food was really good! Great value, great location, place was clean and cozy, and I ate the whole thing in probably about 1.5 minutes. Fair portions and great flavor, really checked all the boxes. Can’t wait to come here again

1 downside: I usually try to leave one thing I didn’t like as a show of being unbiased: the styrofoam and the plastic container are not the most eco-friendly materials, I would’ve loved the paper cartons. I only ordered one item and got two pieces of Unrecycle-able (is that a word?) material. Paper bag instead of plastic was good though!

Food is quite good, but waited for over an hour for my food this week, even after being told that the initial wait time would be 30 minutes.

While waiting in person after the initial
30 minutes, I was told “15 more minutes”... then the food came out 35 minutes later.

So, 65 minutes from the time I ordered until the time I walked out with my food.

Again, the food is very good. Just not happy about how long it took to get it.

I had a sudden craving for Thai Drunken Noodles and I decided to try Marigold Thai based on their reviews. The service was fantastic (I did online ordering which was very organized and easy to do) they called to confirm when I'd made a mistake. When I entered they were taking additional orders by phone always a good sign. I ordered my noodles Thai Spicy it WAS Thai Spicy and very flavorful with the proper consistency! I ordered with extra beef and added an order of dumplings. I will definitely revisit again!

This restaurant has improved dramatically over the years. It's definitely worth trying again if you haven't in a while. They are in my rotation of local places for a quick delivery of good food.
