Trendy eatery serving an expansive Pan-Asian menu that includes sushi, kimchi & pad Thai.
My family and I Googled a place to dine after the theaters. We found an Asian cuisine to our liking. The restaurant called Shangeri-La is a comfortable heaven with excellent customer service. The way the sushi was prepared was top quality. The ramen was especially delicious. We were also able to customize the ingredients to our orders. In addition, the place has the right feel of a comfortable Asian restaurant, which is organized, neat and friendly. Near the end of our stay, the waiter asked if we wanted dessert. It was tempting, but the food was so delicious that the ramen made us full and satisfied. Thank you Shangeri-La!
I was craving Ramen and this was the only one that looked promising. It was good! Legit. Not bad at all. The noodles could have been better quality but it’s okay. I ordered Tonkotsu Ramen: Spicy (but it wasn’t spicy at all) extra Boiled Eggs, extra Pork Belly & extra Noodles. So it brought 4 pieces of each and an extra container of the noodles shown. The pork belly was very good ! I’ll definitely buy again another time.
I ordered a nice meal I was excited for yesterday. While eating my sushi, I noticed that it was a little too chewy but I ignored and kept eating since I was starving. I ignored the fact that maybe the food was old and sitting out. For the rest of the day the only food I had was shumai that came with my meal and soda crackers at night when I was hungry. The morning after (right now and still ongoing) I was woken up with a huge stomach ache and nauseating symptoms. Knowing the feeling of food poisoning this is most definitely it. I feel very sick as if I need to throw up and these sharp pains that come and go with no breaks. I couldn’t even go back to sleep. I don’t know what exactly in that food caused this but be more sanitary. For a 4.3 star restaurant it’s really shameful for such unsanitary conditions to handle food. NEVER. Again.
First time coming. My son saw this place and requested to eat here. Ordered shrimp tempura rolls, salmon roll and tuna and avocado rolls to go. The food came quickly. The staff is friendly and polite. The food was very good. The sushi was very fresh. The shrimp tempura was still crunchy when I got it home which doesn’t always happen. I will definitely return to try the ramen and other hot dishes. Very nice cozy space. My son loved his sushi- his exact words were ‘that was hella good’.
Great spot for lunch. So much better than your traditional Chinese food place. The menu is extensive but easy to navigate. They have lunch specials and larger dinner combos as well as sushi and Thai food.
All the dishes I've had so far, I could recommend. The Mongolian beef is loaded with flavorful tender beef as well as crispy veggies. The mango basil chicken is sweet and herby, and the chicken is extra tender. The fried flounder is crispy but juicy and has a great fish flavor. The pork fried rice is true fried rice and not too strong. The wonton soup is my favorite. Fresh wonton in a flavor broth. The wonton remind me of dim sum style.
I'll make photo updates to my review the more I eat here!
One of my favorite sushi places for more than one reason. The food tastes great and it is fresh! Hot food is served fresh out of the pan/grill. Service is good. They sit you down quickly and service you readily as well. My criticism on customer service is that sometimes you have to call them to refill your water or for something additional. To have higher quality service they should check in often to see if anything is needed. Another critique I have is for the bubble tea and Thai ice tea . I don't like how it's already pre-made with loads of sugar. They should put the sugar in as per requested. Some people still want to enjoy outside food without compromising their health if they don't have to - ME.
Sushi is nice and soft. The sushi isn't super cold. The rice is luke warm and tender (not soggy or overcooked). It is soft and freshly cooked unlike some sushi spots that have hard cold rice - I don't like that. The meat in the sushi is plenty and very tasty. Great quality sushi 🍣. There are plenty vegan options as well. Steamed veggies, noodle soups, vegan sushi choices etc.
Update: desserts are also very delicious. I had the chocolate mousse cake - it is very soft - has a velvet texture, decadent in flavor - not too sugary, but sweet enough, very creamy and chocolatey. I also had the green tea cheesecake. It has a dense firm texture. The cheesecake taste like green tea, it is a light flavor but sweet to taste, not too overwhelming sweet, just right. It comes top with a green tea flavored syrup that is a neatly swirled on top , makes for a nice decor with a sweet touch. They also have Asian desserts that I did not try yet.
Bathrooms and tables are clean.
I highly recommend restaurant. 👍🏾
I really enjoyed the food here. It was outdoor seating because of the Pandemic. Didn't enjoy the busy roads though. Another thing i didn't enjoy was that there were other customers talking in vulgar language unaware my kids were present. Other than that, the food was great. Service was nice too. Would definitely order again but maybe takeout. Atmosphere was not comfortable.
always a great experience here!! both dine in and takeout the food is always piping hot and delicious. there are so many vegetarian options, the green thai curry with tofu is my absolute favorite thing on the menu, and the serving is extremely generous. my boyfriend loves the tonkatsu ramen as well! we also got the scallion pancakes which were yummy and crispy, and the sweet potato tempura roll which were a bit too soft, but still really good overall! will definitely return here again:)
The sushi here is great. I decided to try the drunken noodles and pad se ew and it was unfortunately very disappointing. The noodles aren’t the typical flat thick noodles, these don’t even have enough sauce. The noodles feel dry. But they have a good amount of protein. I expected more but the sushi is still good and the bento box are still good. But I wouldn’t recommend these flat noodles.
My stomach hurts every time I eat Chinese especially this place. I just had two bites of chicken and my stomach is in shambles.
Possibly the only nice Chinese restaurant in the Bronx. Also has a good selection of sushi. I used to love in the past when they had the all-you-can-eat menu, unfortunately, this stopped during the pandemic.
I been going there for past 10 year the place was amazing went there yesterday the service was horrible I don’t know what happened to the place the severs were like cheat cheating in the corner the place wasn’t even busy at the time I called them twice to get me and my kids some water it took them 20 min to give us some water, we ordered lots of food but the the dirty dishes were next to us the whole time. The food was ok I don’t think we will going there any time soon
Amazing chicken & broccoli
Maravillosa comida
I've been coming here for quite some time. Staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, food is always excellent. They have great beer bucket deals and a good sake selection...absolutely love this place
Love this place!!! Def try the Ninja roll!! And they have free delivery outside of Ubereats or door dash so you save on money there too. The general tso shrimp is good too!!!
FAV SPOT FOR SUSHI !
Good food
Good prices
Fresh Sushi
I love the house special fried rice

This is my favorite in the Bronx. Everything is fresh and delicious! The staff is incredibly hospitable. Service is quick and pleasant.
Sushi is always fresh and rolls are beautifully crafted. It's my go-to everytime.

Just really admire the place. The food is always fresh and scrumptious.
Best food spot to go to around the area. Also had an amazing time 👍🏻 & excellent service. 😃
Some of the food was ok, however, one of the guys should at the door when he should be behind the desk. I had the impression he didn’t want patrons to eat and walk out . I think a partition would help them. His actions
made the guest feel uncomfortable .
Clearly he was looking at someone that he thought was gonna run out the door, but it ruined the whole atmosphere. Then I paid with a 100 dollar bill
He used a tester which was ok but he almost tore the bill Stroking it so hard when all he had to do was stroke it once. Overall, I didn’t like it. I do not think I will return.
Been coming here for years, great food and service. Also bring your own bottle!! Lol
Tonkatsu Ramen!
I was a bit disappointed by the quality of the sushi. Either super dry or oversaturated with sauce 🤷🏻♀️
Before the pandemic I used to come here for their unlimited sushi. This option is still available but not at a bargain price.
Today I came for lunch and was pleasantly surprised over their large portions for entrees like Orange chicken, Chicken teriyaki, and Pad Thai. The food was delicious and the service was great.
I have been going to Shangerila for many years. It is located in the south bronx and it is in a nice and quite area. Sometimes parking is hard to find, however you can easily get there by taxi or train. I love the variety of sushi that they have. I loved when they had the all you can eat buffet option right before the pandemic. They are also really great at keeping the food fresh, when it comes to UberEats. The sushi prices are still reasonable. The sushi is fresh and the service is also great. The restaurant is clean and organized. One of my favorites is the sushi boat. The food is served quickly. Sometimes it is a bit crowded, the wait time isn't too long. While not living so close to this location, I always go here for the quality of the food and the great taste!! This is a must to try!! Go and check them out!
Came here for a birthday dinner and everything was fine. The waiter was helpful, the food was served quickly and nothing was wrong.
The food was delicious, perfect. The service was amazing, above and beyond. I really will come back to the restaurant. I was with my kids and husband and they really loved the food.
Is what it is...fancy chinese food
Good is always fresh and tastes great. Service is fast and friendly.
I LOVE THIS PLACE THE FOOD IS THE BEST WENDY & RAY ARE FROM THE ARERA I EAT HEAR ABOUT TWICE A WEEK IT'S SO GOOD
Got takeout of the pad see ew and the pad Thai and it was genuinely the worst Thai dishes I have ever had.
Wings are good to go..
The best
For a local spot they are really good. I can't complain coming from an picky person. I Pau attempt to every detail and I can honestly say both my son and I love this place.

This is hands down the best Chinese food in this neighborhood. The sushi is excellent the rice is real fried rice. The wonton soup and the hot and spicy wontons are amazing. The people are very friendly and you con not go wrong eating here. Just give it a try and see for yourself.
I've been using their take out service for over a year. I order exclusively their General Tso's chicken combo with fried rice. The last three times have been terrible. Chicken has been consistently tuff, and the whole meal tastes like it was pre made, then frozen and thrown in the microwave. It's not fresh. I should have known something was amiss, when was told "It will ready in 5 minutes." That's my experience. Never again. P.S. One reviewer wrote " Food was brought to our table in 15 minutes." Good food does not take 15 minutes. This person was most likely brought up on school lunches.
Food is really good but it seems like they cut corners on the Thai iced tea. It's mostly water. Please work on your Thai iced tea formula!
Have not been there in a while, but we live how the fixed up the place.
Just go, you'll like it.
DO NOT EAT HERE !! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE !! They do not care about their customers they only care about taking the customers money. I WARNED YOU , DO NOT EAT HERE! THERE ARE BUGS! Look at the previous reviews. Don’t support bad business!
There is a better place at Sugi Sushi on East Tremont.
If they delete my review to cover themselves I will post it again.
They charge too much for their bubble tea they used to have two sizes now they only carry one for $7 you get it cheaper in the city
Need to step up the kitchen I ordered pork fried rice and 4 wings I received 3 wings the rice was mushy
Good Food, but no more All You Can Eat :(
The food will literally melt in your mouth! I have eaten here well over 50 times and the food is fresh every single tome. This is not that greasy food your looking for. It’s savory, fresh and full of flavor. The portion sizes are HUGE. You will definitely have left overs.
Súper recomendado que buenos desayunos para comer algo diferente servicio recomendado y buen ambiente
First time coming. My son saw this place and requested to eat here. Ordered shrimp tempura rolls, salmon roll and tuna and avocado rolls to go. The food came quickly. EDIT:
It's been quite a while since I've dined here. Everything was so delicious!
The first time i came here, i had such a great experience. Their food was delicious and the environment was cool. We had so many different delicious sushis i didn't have a chance to understand what I ate (in a good way). Because of the great experience , i decided to order takeout with this restaurant. Unfortunately, each time i ordered something, it wasn't as good as it should've been. I ordered their takoyaki and it wasn't made the correct way (was half balls instead of full. Had sesame seeds instead of fish flakes. It was weird.) And their pad Kee mao aka drunken noodles was made using Italian noodles instead of traditional flat rice noodles. That takeout experience was the worst 30 bucks I've ever spent on food. They specialize in their sushi. Trust that and you'll be fine.
We ordered spicy vegetable noodles that weren't spicy at all. We ordered the spicy seafood noodles that weren't spicy and had zero flavor. Dumplings weren't great either, California roll was mids. My wife didn't like her chicken tempura. The best thing was the chicken and broccoli with French fries, which I could've just ordered from the local Chinese food restaurant for half the price.
I always order through Uber eats and the food always comes fresh !
Fantastic food, lots of variety, prompt & very friendly service, vegetarian options and acceptable pricing. Great spot!
Great place to get fresh authentic sushi. Wasn't too far from home. It was not crowded and no wait time to sit when we got there.
Excellent ribs and won ton soup best Chinese food in the Bronx lots of variety .
Ordered for the first time. Service and food were excellent. Ordered 20 pc. sashimi and Naruto roll. I will definitely visit again.
It's OKAY place for a sushi. I wouldn't recommended it.
Definitely amazing quality food and big portions , would definitely go back
Very good food
Food was tasty although a bit pricey. Staff was friendly and provided good service! The atmosphere was nice and the terra cotta warrior is a nice touch as well.
Great spot good food.
The food was delicious and fresh friendly staff
This place is awesome and when I say awesome I am talking about the taste, the quality, and the service. Your food is brought to you in not more than 15 mins and same goes for the take out. Before COVID they had a good buffet system I wish that came back. Seems underated, but the general TSO chicken with fried rice, sesame shrimp with white rice, wonton egg drop soup, Singapore noodles are some of the killers in this restaurant apart from their sushi menu. Parking is an issue, but if you wait for a while you'll find some street parking. Please do try and enjoy the food and service.
Great sushi and good prices
This place is very inconsistent. I ordered the kung pao chicken and it was extremely salty and just could not eat it. I wish this was dine-in so I can get my money back for this.
Shangerila is my best spot for good sushi. The have so many different options and great portions of prices for all customers. I'm always bringing family and friends here to eat sushi because the staff are very polite and respectful and you get your money's worth. The also make you get what you ordered on a respective time frame. Shangerila is highly recommended for friends and family enjoy.
Update, this is no longer all you can eat.
I truly love this place. The food is always fresh and the service is always excellent. Very consistent overall. My fiancé and I like the sushi boat! It’s awesome. The fried Oreos amazing. We dine here often. Great experience overall and they have sakitinis! My favorite!
Great food and diverse menu. Too bad Covid killed the all you can eat sushi 😢. Would recommend to friends.
Good service, excellent menu with photos. Reasonable price.
Angel rolls are to die for.
Excelente servicio 👍
I like this sushi restaurant for a variety of reasons. It tastes great and it's fresh! Fresh hot food is served straight from the grill or pan. Good customer service!
We have dined here for lunch twice this month. Both times the food was excellent. We ordered from the lunch menu which is a very good deal. We had kung pao chicken, sashimi, sushi combo, and eggplant with garlic sauce. Lunch specials are accompanied by miso soup and/or salad. The bento boxes offer both. An excellent pot of fragrant jasmine tea paired well with the food. We also tried the scallion pancake - yummy. The salad dressing is authentically delicious. Service is efficient and well paced. We will be back. I only took a pic of the sushi lunch.
This place is great! The food is delicious and the service is great, very friendly! I highly recommend eating here.
My husband said the sushi was actually good. We ordered the chicken tempura sushi (a bit bland, definitely needs the soy sauce). Avocado rolls were good. Shangerila Naruto Roll was different, and my husband enjoyed them deeply. We also had the Tokyo, california, and Eel dregon roll. The pork fried rice was excellent and flavorful. Korean beef appetizer was decent. Miso soup was excellent. There is no real parking other than street parking, which is a hit and miss. It's a sit down and wat environment, although take out is available. They partnered with delivery apps, so you can order online at their website or even Uber. Prices are decent. Staff is friendly. Definitely recommend.
Love everything we order from here. Absolutely great Asian food!

I highly recommend restaurant. 👍🏾
Our go to sushi place in this neighborhood. I've never had a bad experience here. Love the spicy crispy chicken and their salmon sushi!
If you love sushi 🍣 this is a good restaurant especially their all you can eat deal. I will return again.
UPDATE: The food is delicious as always, I've returned a few times, I'm always left satisfied and full. Their Plum wine is amazing and has just the right kick to it. I will say that their hours of operation should be adjusted since it says they're open until 10:00P, yet a few guests were turned away around/after 9:00P. Maybe there should be a sign that says dining ends at 9:00P but take out is available until closing (or until 9:45P). Overall, it's a decent restaurant.
While the atmosphere wasn't superb the place felt cramped and was very humid but the food and the service was excellent. I have the spicy noodles & wontons in hot peaanut sauce.
Unclean food. Spent hundreds of dollars here as I’ve frequented this restaurant with my partner. Thousands of people die from food related illness every year, this is a 18$ meal, fyi. The quality of this establishment has dipped down drastically and the food is not clean. Not to mention the staff wanted to argue about it. Go to sushi Q down the block for quality sushi.
Whoever said the ramen was good at this place lied
They are ok, I like that even if it's 1050 and they close at 11 they will still take your order. The Veggie Mei Fun is good, I get a lot of raw stuff it's OK could be fresher but its not fishey
The food is fresh and tastes good
I've been here multiple times; the food and service is consistently excellent. The decor is a nice touch.
Just missed the lunch timeframe by a few minutes. Otherwise good food although the story was pretty empty the time we went sans another group of people. Would come back again but nothing really popped as it did years ago.
The Ramen soup is spectacular, the sashimi is fresh and looks beautiful, the service is excellent, the restaurant scenery could use an update, overall the food is great, give it a go, it'll set a high standard on your taste pallet
Outstanding Customer Service and Great Food. Thx from (Jose R. J & Wife)
Good feel place
Nice restaurant but bathroom needs to be more cleaner. I expect that if I'm paying alot of money it's not a luxury it's a must.
Excellent Asian food and great service!
Great tasty food their specialty is Sushi, very Hygienic and friendly staff.
23 birthday we pay 150 plus a tip
I started going here for the all you can eat. They no longer offer it, but they do offer sushi, ramen, and other popular asian dishes at pretty good prices. The ramen is inexpensive and absolutely packed with toppings. The broth is always flavorful. The sushi is fresh and delicious. The service is exceptional, they really make you feel comfortable and taken care of. I love going to Shangerila when I’m craving ramen in the Bronx. Always a great experience.
I love this place. I’ve been here a few times and they have some authentic cuisine. The food smells and taste fresh too. I usually go here for celebrations/birthdays and I have a good time when I do go. They’re a bit pricey on certain dishes but that’s understandable. I think it’s worth the money when I want to treat myself here :) Fried ice cream is AMAZING too~
My respects to the fusion of excellent flavors. As I looked at the menu I could already tell this place is special. From cocktails, appetizers main dishes, ambience and quality The Bronx adds another hidden gem to an already amazing Asian Fusion and Sushi greatness of the Borough. Great job to the owners and staff. Spicy Crispy Chicken and Saketinis can't go wrong. Recommend 💯%.
We dine in and order out multiple times a month and absolutely love it, staff is kind food is delicious and have never been disappointed.
The workers there are racist. I brought the food and I went to sit down because I wanted to dine in with my friend. The workers said because my orders were "small" that we weren't allowed to dine in. Mind you I spend $18 for two different meals. I asked for a refund if I wasn't allowed to eat here, which they gave me. They were making excuses for us not to dine in and it really felt like an unwelcoming environment. However, there were other customers dining in as well. So it had nothing to do with the pandemic. It's so sad to see racism between the people of color, in 2021.
Will the restaurant have All You Can Eat option ever again? This has been an amazing spot to go especially in the Bronx because there is no AYCE sushi around here. Would be so glad to have that again.
Not for me.
First and foremost, I’ve been coming here for about 10 years now! I love this place, but during this visit I was somewhat disappointed! I usually get the tonkatsu ramen but opted to try the seafood ramen. It was a huge disappointment! It came with shrimp, imitation crab, bamboo shoots, and nori! The ramen was bland and the noodles tasted as if they were pre-cooked! I also ordered ikura, which was quite good! My significant other ordered chicken fried rice which also lacked flavor! I’m happy to have Asian cuisine in the Bronx, but this was a disappointment! The customer service was great, our server insured to take care of us! The food needs a little more love! I hope to see some improvements, as this won’t be my last time visiting!
They no longer have the buffet menu everything is a la carte. Recently, I dined in and ordered pork lumpia for appetizer. I noticed some were a little soggy and some had the wrapper broken apart. I'm Filipino, I've made them and bought them frozen. These were clearly frozen and halfway through eating them I noticed they were extra soft in the middle.... It was raw, raw ground pork I've had all along. I told the waiter and he sent it back to be refried. I still got billed for it. I didn't complain, I paid the bill and tipped. But now I'm wondering if I should take my dog's dewormer or iust hope coke will clean my gut. 🤔
My favorite sushi place in the Bronx. Loved the Angel rolls and the Ninja rolls. Highly recommended.
The food here is always delicious. The staff is great and welcoming. Definitely one of my favorite places here in The Bronx.
Update 04/21/22 : I came here with my daughter for a little early dinner date. The food is great of course, although I would say the hostess that I had I wish she was a bit more personable.
Great atmosphere. Inexpensive. Good food.
great restaurant, but i miss ayce so much. hoping they bring it back soon !
I love this place .. 4 stars cause they don't have all you ean eat eat
Bring it back please
Love the food, love the atmosphere. My boyfriend and I LOVE coming here. This is our favorite restaurant. Highly recommend
Lots of dishes to try, including a whole sushi/roll section. Lunch special is a great value.
