We visited Try Thai located in Front Royal Virginia. This restaurant has changed ownership since we last visited and the food is quite different. I had my favorite Thai dish, which I used to frequently have at this restaurant under the previous owners. This dish is basil fried rice with a fried egg on top with an appetizer of chicken satay.

To start off the chicken satay was absolutely wonderful and exactly the same as it has always been.

The basil fried rice however, had a different texture to it than any other Thai restaurant that I've been to. Do you know those bags of instant rice that you get where the rice is kind of squishy? That's what the rice was like, unlike traditionally being fried rice even though it's a fried rice dish. This uniqueness really made the dishes texture rather unpleasant even though the taste and spice was fairly tasty.

The staff is very friendly and responsive.

This section of Front Royal is typically LGBTQ friendly and this restaurant is no exception. The single person bathrooms are clean and feature locking doors.

We ate here two years ago and it was so amazing that we traveled near here again so we could come back. The crab fried rice and the pad Thai is absolutely the best I’ve ever had. Thai coffee is beautiful. Highly recommend!

We were the last customers of the night, stopping in after a day of hiking in Shenandoah National Park. We ordered the veggie crispy rolls, the Kra Pow, and the Drunken Noodles (both with tofu). Our server was so nice - she saw us looking at our photos from the days hike and chatted with us about it. Definitely recommend!

Wow! We were driving home from Tennessee back to NJ and decided to stop for our wedding anniversary dinner. For 11 years we have stopped almost every year at various Thai places. This one ranks up at the top! My husband got the Duck & I got Beef and Shrimp Pad Thai. For apps we got spicy calamari and dumplings. Highly recommend stopping here! Service was top notch, including recommendations on what to order for food and drinks.

This is my FAVORITE Thai place! Super friendly, customer friendly...ask for the surf and turf fried rice!! ( crab and beef) Not what you would expect at downtown Front Royal!!

Parking was a bit difficult as I do drive a big truck. The food was very tasty and fresh; I did takeout. The pad Thai was a bit too much saucy but the fried rice was perfect.

Cool vibes at Try Thai. Food was good. I enjoyed the chicken pad thai, fried tofu appetizer and chicken satay. All well made. I wanted the chicken won ton soup and was grateful when the waiter advised me that it had shrimp, which I chose to avoid.

We were the last ones there and yet the staff was patient while we finished our meals and enjoyed our time there. We will be back.

Excellent Thai food! We waited a but it was worth it. Red curry and tom yum soup were freshly made and delicious.

Food was ok . The server didn't really show up much had to flag the person down for refills on drinks. But they added 20 percent Gratuity which i guess is because we had two small children, I will never recommend any one to go there based on that reason alone.

The whole town make you feel so welcome, and the restaurant was the reflection of that. The environment of the restaurant was really friendly, their drunken noodles was awesome! My regret is i live so far away i wont be able to have it whenever i want. Their Red Curry was pretty good too paired with the bowl white rice.

Went here for date night, it was a great choice. Greeted with a smile and owner was eager to answer any questions and brought us a bowl and cold water for our dog. The food was top tier, would recommend it. They even have a dog friendly patio out back which we utilized. Make the trip it's worth it.

Really good Thai food. The drunken noodles were deliciously spicy, the peanut sauce was a great compliment, and the seafood salad was delicious if not a little small. Altogether I highly recommend if you like Thai food. Looking forward to going back and trying other dishes

Got the Asian wings for an appetizer tasted like broken wings Yes they were all broken into pieces throw it in a deep fryer with no seasoning whatsoever. The crispy duck tasted like cardamom could not distinguish any other flavor other than the cardamom. Severely overpriced and portions way too small.

Visiting Front Royal for a weekend and we've been looking for great Thai food for a long time since moving to Virginia. Try Thai is delicious and they definitely delivered. We sampled quite a few things and it was all very good. Green papaya salad is a nice refreshing appetizer on a hot day. Our entrees were drunken noodles with chicken, spicy level 2, pad Thai with beef, spicy level 3, and we got a side of garlic fried rice and Thai Iced tea.
Drunken noodles were super flavorful, and the pad Thai didn't even need lime it was great on its own. I have to say, the garlic fried rice was fantastic. Strongly recommend giving Try Thai a shot.

Great food

Really great Thai food in a cute historic town! They let us eat outside in the patio (which was very quiet/secluded) with our dog, much appreciated! I had the Pad See ew with tofu, which was just what I was looking for. My husband had the green curry with vegetables which was also very flavorful. The drinks were great and so was the mango sticky rice. Typical Thai food menu with great high quality ingredients and recipes. Will come back here on another hiking trip day. Thanks again!

They are cancelled. I ate with them a few times and the food was great. But lately it’s been gross. I don’t know if they have a different cook or if because of COVID they aren’t using good ingredients but it’s been flavorless and not the best. Not to mention delivery takes forever and sometimes you get forgotten about altogether. Tried to give them a chance but after today’s 3rd gross order... I’m done for a while. Check on y’all in a year. (Options are limited in this area)

This Thai restaurant is great, family owned and operated. The food is really good and the owner is so welcoming. I would love to have this restaurant in my town it reminds me of my favorite Thai place in San Diego.

We went there for the first time last night, and overall it was a nice place. It was roomy and had a relaxing atmosphere, and the waitress was nice and friendly.

For the appetizer we ordered potstickers, and we got five for I believe it was 7.95. They didn’t really have any flavor and in my opinion were not worth the price. For the entrées we got the drunken noodles and pineapple fried rice, and both were good and flavorful, and a good size.

From the moment put in our order to the time we got served our entrees, it was probably 45 minutes later, which was a little surprising and disappointing since the restaurant seemed to be about less than half capacity.

Delicious, fresh Thai food! I haven’t had Thai this wonderful since my days in Los Angeles, Chicago, and San Francisco. It’s superb! The service was friendly and efficient. The restaurant has lovely decor, tall ceilings, well-spaced out tables and booths, and outside seating. It’s conveniently right on Main with ample parking nearby, but they also do delivery. And the menu has lots of options. So glad they’re in town!

I have to start : Bikini Shrimp 🍤, later Soup 🍲 Poh Tak, main Dish Soft Shell Crab 🦀 & Seafood. They all was Delicious.

I was here celebrating a friends birthday with some other ladies. We all ordered different foods and a few appetizers. The food was very good. The service was great and our time here was enjoyable. We will be coming back again.

We’re visiting Front Royal and looking for a place that had healthy vegan options. This 100% satisfied our craving. We ordered two dishes thinking we share and take some home. We ate every bite! The Pad Thai with tofu was scrumptious. We had a vegetable plate and the sauce was amazing!

First time here, moved up here from the metro area. I really miss all the amazing Thai restuaruants out there! Although their is only a few spots out I front royal, this place goes above and beyond with their quality of food and customer service. Andy welcomed me immediately with open arms at the bar, broke down every dish and how its cooked which is mind boggling because he hasn't worked here too long! You can tell their staff take pride in their work. While I was waiting for my to go order, Andy and I had great conversations. Who knew my order coming out was thw worst part because I didn't want the convos to end! I definitely will be back and everyone should be coming here and if not, you are missing out!

Lovely place. They brag about authenticity, and I'll comment that it's more authentic than most. But they don't believe you when you say "Thai spicy" and still don't make it spicy enough 😂. But that's just me being picky, the food is pretty good for Thai in America. 8/10. Service is friendly and helpful. I actually like the atmosphere here more than the food. I'd definitely frequent this place on a Friday night if I lived nearby

Amazing flavor! Perfect portions! And the right amount of spice. Some people are hesitant to eat Thai food because of the spicy heat. Don't be scared here. Even if you are shy on spicy or you're a "bring the heat" kind of guy like me, this restaurant seasons the meals perfectly!

My S.O. and I, who live in Front Royal, had dinner here last night before seeing a movie down the street. We both had krapow with chicken, and it was delicious, the abundant sauce and Thai basil especially. The chicken was tender, the food was served piping hot, and the spice level was perfect. The server was very friendly and the atmosphere relaxing. We highly recommend it. We'll definitely be going back!

From the appealing atmosphere, kid friendliness, the food: crab ragoon, wonton soup, and drunken noodles everything was fresh and had depth of flavor, plus the owners were super friendly, and hospitable.

My husband drunken noodle dish was a bit too spicy for his taste so they were more than happy to modify it to make it to his liking. I tried his shrimp and it was super good! A must try 😁

The $16 “signature” eggplant dish was made up of more than 50% onions and 10% thinly sliced eggplant. I was kept waiting for 10 min after the food had arrived to receive a fork, that’s after I notified the waitress. And the service left much to be desired, cold, short, unfriendly. This was our first time and last.

Amazing ambiance and scrumptious food. We came back from a long tiring kayak ride and gobbled up all the food. Drunken noodles, fried rice (regular and basil) and Pad Thai were great. I would skip Garden Veggie next time as it was kind of salty.

Their outdoor seating area is comfortable, quiet, and dog friendly.
Enjoyed a delicious meal here that was the perfect level of spicy. Looking forward to coming back and trying more off their menu.

Really good place to stop if you're in Front Royal.

2023 edit: The food has become a bit hit-or-miss. When it's good, it's still excellent. But it seems like about half the time, the food is just profoundly bland. Let me tell you, it's a very strange experience eating a Thai curry with no flavor! I generally get my Thai from Winchester now.

2020: Wonderful restaurant, still fairly new so the decorating is still fresh. We haven't had anything here that we haven't loved.

We made a quick stop here after our trip to Shenandoah. Food and drinks were delicious, good service and nicely decorated restaurant. We’ll come back to try more next time we are in the area.

Absolutely outstanding. We got the whole flounder and it was the best Thai fish we have ever had. The larb gai was also full of flavor and just the right spice. The staff was also lovely. We loved chatting with Prau! We will be back!

Super friendly and genuine family that owns this restaurant. The food was amazing. The veggie rolls were a smaller diameter size which I like. My husband doesn’t like veggie rolls at all and said they were actually pretty good. He got the roasted duck curry and was in love. He would not stop talking about how much he enjoyed it. I got the kra pow and it was delicious. The spiciness level was perfect. Everything just tasted fresh and there were so many different flavors hitting your palette that blended perfectly together. I’m so glad they came to Front Royal! This town is seriously lacking in the restaurant area and this place is perfect! New favorite restaurant!

My wife and I recently dined at Try Thai restaurant, located in Front Royal. The restaurant is located just minutes from Interstate 81 and provided a nice stop for us while traveling. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the friendly and attentive service. The restaurant was tastefully decorated and the atmosphere was very inviting.

The menu offered a wide variety of authentic Thai dishes, and it was difficult to choose just a few. Our dishes were absolutely delicious and it was clear the ingredients were fresh and of high quality.

Overall, we highly recommend Try Thai for anyone looking for authentic Thai food and excellent service. The food was outstanding, the atmosphere was inviting, and the service was top-notch. We will definitely return again!

Best Thai I’ve ever had! The pad thai was so good. The serving size was perfect, and the shrimp was big and fresh. I have never had such good quality shrimp at a restaurant. The mango sticky rice was delicious. The service was also wonderful and so helpful and kind. I will be back! There is not a better Thai place anywhere from Front Royal to Winchester!

I would like to be fair and ordered seafood PadThai to go...got home and surprisingly, the food tasted like Chinese noodles....the restaurant had good reviews so I was disappointed about what I had...serving was also small.

Just a super place to eat and socialize. Fod is great.

I accidentally ordered from this restaurant instead of the one where I live. I realized my mistake within 6 minutes and called to cancel it since they had taken my credit card by phone, to my amazement, my order that they said would take 30 minutes had already been completed and I couldn't get my money back. (Obviously because this was my fault)

I recommend going here if you are in a hurry because they make their food very quickly. Very very very quickly. I am sure they make it this fast when you haven't ordered it by mistake as well.

Love this restaurant! We eat here all the time. Wonderful servers, delicious authentic food, really nice atmosphere, and great drinks. Just a note about a couple of the negative reviews: It appears they came in during extremely and unusually busy times (peak autumn leaf-viewing season on the weekend). It is virtually impossible for any restaurant to suddenly accommodate a huge and temporary influx of customers with their usual staff! We highly recommend Try Thai (and did not receive any incentive for this review!)

Sushi was horrible

Some of the best Thai food I've ever eaten, easily rivaling the Thai food I've had in New York. Drinks were expertly made and the food came out quickly. I cannot say a single negative thing about this place and I will 100% be going back. From drinks to the appetizer to dinner to dessert, the food here is incredible.

I love to start with ambience first, very neat and clean. High ceiling and great lights reflecton. We order multiple dishes and we enjoyed the most. I will highly recommend this place for Thai and sushi.

Thai food is by far my favorite cuisine. My second favorite is sushi. Try Thai can do both significantly better than others in Virginia yet alone here in Front Royal. From the Thai tea to the mix drink to the freshest of sashimi and bestest of version basil fried rice….it was outstanding. I sat at the bar and had a great conversation with the friendly staff during my visit. Tonight’s experience showed me that this is going to be a great date night for the wife this weekend. The chicken pad Thai was NOT good! The noodles were sticky, clumped together and kind of thick, they should be thinner! Second the flavor was not good. Will not be going back since I wasted 14 dollars

Such a cute restaurant with beautiful decor. There's some street parking. We came here around 7 pm on a Friday evening and the staff was very friendly!

We ordered some drinks, the Melon Margarita and the Vodka Thai Basil Smash. The Thai Basil Smash rated just like a lemonade and the Melon Margarita was very flavorful. We didn't try it but you can get beer towers here too which I thought was cool.

For our appetizer, we tried the Try Thai Platter. Everything on there was so good. We loved the Chicken Satay and the Pot Stickers.

For dinner, we ordered the Crispy Duckling and a combination Pad Thai with beef, chicken and shrimp. Both are delicious. Service and food were quick.

They also had a projector playing cartoons. I loved the atmosphere and definitely recommend!

Servers were friendly but not really helpful about the options. Food was good but not great. More of a bar feel than restaurant because of the actual bar and stage for musical acts, and the guitar next to the stage. I'm sure Friday and Saturday night are great there. Not a problem but just what I saw.

This restaurant is so nice! The food is so good, and the atmosphere is open and inviting. The women running the place were so kind, and really made eating here a fun and enjoyable experience :)
