Casual Thai restaurant with authentic flavors, offering classic favorites such as Pad Thai, Curry, and wide variety of menus. Available for both dine-in and takeout.
Came to Vermont for a ski trip and this was right across from our hotel. Ordered take out and got the Yellow Curry with Tofu Mild and white rice. Veggie Spring Rolls & the Chicken Katsu. Let me tell you, some of the best Thai food I’ve had in a while! Very authentic, and I love how full of spice their flavors are. The katsu was delicious as was the curry. Came back 2 days later to bring food home for my family. Got the crab Rangoon, curry again, pad Thai with shrimp mild, basil duck mild, and the snapper fish. Oh my goodness, every meal here is a hit! I wish Thai Smile was close to me. Reasonably priced and good sized portions. Flavorful and authentic!
Got food to go last two times. Sadly the new owners are missing something.
The first time the food was way too hot. We asked for mild and it was extreme. Chalked it up to a misread of the order.
Gave them another try to see if the flavor would be dialed. This time we got home and my chicken pad Thai was tofu, not chicken.
Wrote to owners and shared image of the error. No response.
Safe to say that we will no longer be getting food here and future buyers be weary
Small and quaint but staff is so nice and so helpful. Opted to take a chance to snag a table & we are thankful we did.
Food was incredible. Our server was an older gentleman and super nice! You could tell he works really hard to make sure everyone’s happy!
Lots of vegan choices, just ask!
We wanted the avocado fresh rolls but sadly they were sold out, thankfully they had spring rolls which were very good!
Next dish was the Rama Dish, requested no fish oil (not sure it comes with it or not but had to be safe - allergy) with tofu. Came with Jasmine Rice and was extremely good! The sauce was incredible. Everything cooked perfect.
My mom got the Khao Soi Noodle with chicken and said it was the most incredible Thai dish she’s ever had. Between the flavors and the texture, everything was cooked perfectly.
We are just visiting but highly recommend checking out this place whether eating in or getting take out. Well worth it. And price very fairly.
A very creative and delicious Thai restaurant , really enjoyed it. I especially recommend it to all friends who come visit to VT. You must try it, also the price is also very affordable..
There is also an ice cream factory nearby. You can also visit it to get a fantastic ice cream after the dinner..
This is one of the best Thai restaurants in US. So glad we found this place during our recent visit to Stowe. The food is so delicious and the prices are reasonable. We dined in the first day and also did a take out the following day. The portions were good. There is ample parking space and a lot of vegan and vegetarian friendly food options too.
During a spontaneous road trip through Vermont, I stumbled upon this hidden gem of a Thai restaurant nestled along the way. Located somewhere on the journey, it was a delightful surprise to discover such culinary excellence in an unexpected place. While I can't pinpoint its proximity to a town, I can confirm it's close to the Ben and Jerry's ice cream factory, which adds to its allure.
The food at this cozy Thai joint is nothing short of extraordinary. The papaya salad transcended my taste buds to another realm, boasting flavors that were simply out of this world. The Khao Soi noodle dish stole the show with its unparalleled deliciousness, making it a standout among Thai cuisine experiences. Additionally, the chicken wings were a perfect blend of crispy and succulent, while the Thai fried rice was an absolute delight, leaving me craving for more.
Overall, this restaurant is a must-visit for anyone traveling through the area or craving authentic Thai flavors. With its mouthwatering dishes and cozy ambiance, it's sure to leave a lasting impression on any food enthusiast.
Don’t forget to grab some guava candies on your way out, it’s super tasty.

Yellow curry with chicken was fantastic. Beef pho broth was delicious and everything else that was ordered looked really good.
This place has such a solid khao soi. Way better than what you would expect to find in rural Vermont. Easily exceeded my expectations
This place is the best! Such a good menu and everything is delicious.
Food was amazing and fairly priced! I went with a small group of friends and we all agreed it’s by far the best Thai place in Chittenden County’
Came to Vermont for a ski trip and this was right across from our hotel. Ordered take out and got the Yellow Curry with Tofu Mild and white rice. Veggie Spring Rolls & the Chicken Katsu. Best Thai I’ve ever had. Portion sizes are fantastic for the price, and service is also very good. Note: medium is a bit spicy!
I love Thai Smile! They have the best Thai food in the Waterbury/Stowe area and even when they’re busy, they’re still fast. Their massaman curry and pad see yew are our go-to dishes but any time we get something new we love it. Such a gem!
The pho soup is delicious. The service is good. The waiter doesn’t smile and talk too much but he did his work well. The price is good very affordable. Would recommend this place to travelers if you like Thai food.
The BEST THAI FOOD I HAVE EVER HAD
Great Thai. Clean flavors. Spice is well executed but be sure you want it spicy if you ask for it.
food was quick and amazing.. however i’ve heard a lot of complaints about the service. Didn’t have any issues while we ate!
Small and quaint but staff is so nice and so helpful. Opted to take a chance to snag a table & we are thankful we did.

We stopped here for a late lunch after touring the area. The food was delicious! We had Crab Fried Rice, Panang curry with chicken, Massaman curry with shrimp, and Cashew Chicken stir-fry. It came out hot and fresh. I only wish mine had a little more fresh basil on top.
Only got takeout both times I ordered from here, but the food is shockingly good Thai for such a random place in the Vermont mountains. Orders were cooked quickly and under the expected time and tasted delicious. Reasonable prices. Highly recommend.
Great place, good food and attention is super.
Great food !
Good made to order and staff so friendly
100% Recommend this place
Have been here before in my last trip , this time food was pretty average ..dint like it that well
Feels like Thailand
The food was delicious, and the service was excellent.
Great food!!!
Really Thai food
Excellent food and portions! Really popular though so may take a while to serve the food. Bit definitely value for money and friendly staff!
Excellent massaman curry and drunken noodles!
Smelled good but owner said “We’re closed” impolitely, no apology. Sign says they are open til 8:30!! :-(
closed 9:00, we coming 7:50PM, but the cashier said we have nothing, terrible attitude
We had lunch here on a cold rainy afternoon. We got the Pad See Ew, Spicy fish and Chicken Pho as well as a chicken Tom Yum soup. The food was delicious and hit the spot. The soup and the spicy fish were the standout dishes. Would recommend Thai Smiles for anyone craving a good Asian meal in Stowe.
RUDE SERVICE AND RACIST MANAGEMENT
The management is terrible and racist. We were a group of 8 people who dined at the restaurant tonight. They split us up into 2 tables of 4 which we were fine with. We ordered separately from the other table, had a different waiter, etc. When it came to paying the bill, they charged us an additional 18% gratuity above tax for having a table of 8. On top of this, they expected a tip. When we argued that we were in fact two tables of 4 and shouldn’t be required to pay the large group tip, they said “YOU PEOPLE don’t pay tip anyways” and pointed out our race and ethnicity. The service was extremely rude and we would not recommend anyone dine here.
Additionally, the green salad says there’s cucumbers in it on the menu, but we received the salad without any cucumbers. When we asked the waiter, he said “today, sorry no cucumbers.” However, every other dish had cucumbers which means it was easily available.
A very creative and delicious Thai restaurant , really enjoyed it. I especially recommend it to all friends who come visit to VT. You must try it, also the price is also very affordable..
There is also an ice cream factory nearby. You can also visit it to get a fantastic ice cream after the dinner..
Incredible food every time!
The food was excellent. Served fast and hot.
Was really good! Better than expected!!
Really good Thai food, especially given its location where I wasn’t expecting decent Thai food!
Really delicious authentic Thai food. The curry was amazing
We made a stop on our roadtrip at Thai Smile. Lovely place! We really enjoyed our food there, it was very delicous! The Pinot Grigio is really good! Staff is very friendly. There’s a parking space infront of the restaurant. I sadly forgot to tip in the end (not common as a european, so sorry!). If we will be back in that area we will definetely come back to Thai Smile. And tip. 😉
I recently placed a large take out order. We were shorted 2 dumplings and the remaining ones were undercooked, no rice for the Massaman Curry, and the Pad Kee Mao was so spicy we couldn't eat it and we are used to spicy food. The Pad Thai was so so but the dishes served to eat in patrons looked awesome. I recommend eating in vs take out.
I've only been here once but it was quietly some of the best asian food I've had in VT
Got take out this evening! I find it difficult to find Khao Soi, so I was thrilled when I saw it on the menu! Best.Khao.Soi.Ever. My fiancé has never tried khao soi and he loved this so much that he asked me to call back and order two more! Just the right amount of spicy and sweet. So sad we have to wait til our next vacation to order it again! The katsu chicken and crab rangoon were also delicious. Stop by and support these hard working folks!
I’ve gotten takeout here a few times and eaten in once. I cannot comment on the reviews citing problems with bills. I didn’t experience that when I ate in, and if you order online it’s all transparent. One time on a takeout they did forget my spring rolls (it was a large order). But my whole family loves the food. It is nice and spicy. I’ve had Thai food all over the world and this, while not completely authentic with ingredients (no betel leaves, no dried shrimp for example), is excellent. The only dish I’ve been disappointed in is the wide noodles. But I’m really not a fan of those anyway. Also I’m not a sushi lover so I can’t comment on that part of the menu. I’ve had soups, apps, stir fries and curries and they all were good. I’m partial to Penang and green curry. And the basil or the eggplant stir fries. I live nearby so it’s a challenge not to order from here too often for my waistline lol. I do agree that parking can be difficult. But there’s parking by the true value and not that much of a walk.
Great Khao Soi!
Delicious!
What a surprising and great selection of menu options. Flavorful and fresh.
We are glad picked this place for dinner after our Ben & Jerry's factory visit. The food was outstanding and service was quick. We got their papaya salad (had a spicy kick to it which we loved), chicken wings (were the crispiest and yet one of the most juicy wings we've had) and the Khau Sui Curry Noodle soup w Shrimp (was outstanding as well... The crisp noodles paired so well with the egg noodle soup). We got their Von Kropp and Singha beers and both went well with the food.
Excellent food!
Amazing food and great service and atmosphere.

Food is great! Prices are great! People are wonderful!
Had an amazing meal at Thai Smile. The food was very good and it was prepared with incredible speed. As always, had to get a Thai iced tea which was excellent. The server was kind and helpful. The prices are very reasonable as well. If you are in the area, I would recommend stopping at Thai Smile.
Chris@ North East Ford
I got the massaman curry with chicken and a Thai iced tea, it was DELICIOUS! the food came out quickly, was well presented and the staff was friendly. I will definetly return!
Excellent food, fresh veggies and very tasty Thai food. We were looking forward to eat here and the place did not disappoint.
On a Sunday evening, I ordered the Chicken Satay, Crispy Moon, Tom Kha, Basil Fried Rice, and Thai Coconut Custard. My somewhat large takeout order was ready in 20 minutes (10 minutes early) and everything looked and tasted exceptionally flavorful and fresh. I ordered the Tom Kha and Basil Fried Rice with "Mild" spice, their lowest level of heat. Both had me coughing and drenched in sweat after a few bites! Not sure if they overdid it on the spice, or if that's normal. Fortunately, it didn't last too long after drinking lots of cold water and finishing off the meal with the Coconut Custard. I like mild-medium spicy on certain dishes, but not sure if I can handle their version of it. Beware of the spice! :)
They are very nice. The ambiance look new and they have sushi bar now. I had pad kee mao I don’t know if they change the recipe but this time I had it a little salty.
We had an amazing meal at Thai Smile. The food was super authentic and delicious. We had the spring rolls, which came out hot and fresh. For our main dish, we both ordered Pad Thai with a spice level of Thai Hot and got a order of the pineapple fried rice to share. The flavor was great, and the heat was perfect. Honestly, one of the best pad thai dinners we have had anywhere in the nation, and it was just tucked in a shopping center not far from Stowe Mountain. 10/10 food and service. Our water glasses never sat empty and the waitress and waiter were super kind. If you want authentic thai food, then look no further than Thai Smile.
Just ate at Thai Smile for the second time and it once again knocked my socks off. Tom Kha soup to die for, and curry that warmed me inside and out. A much needed rejuvenation after skiing that I didn’t know I needed. Wanted to go into the kitchen and shake everyone’s hand and personally thank them. I didn’t do that, so here’s a Google review instead. Thank you Thai Smile, for putting a smile on my face :) will be coming back.
Do not skip this restaurant! It is the best delicious Thai restaurant I’ve ever eaten at.
After moving here, I tried Pad Thai at restaurant after restaurant and none got the spot until Thai Smile. The food was absolutely delicious and the restaurant has such a great atmosphere!
The food here is amazing. A must have whenever I'm in the area now.
Warning: check bill twice before you pay.
We ordered food with total price less than $90, but my wife said the bill is $120 before tip, the initial bill was even $240+ before she asked to double check the bill! My friend ordered food with total price around $40 was charge $50+, was told the extra was tax around 10%, but the actual total local tax is 6% including state/country/city! Another friend was told tips were not included but actually 18% tip was added already. The owner may fool you on the final bill, be very careful!
The food is good but watch for your bills -- they often overcharge you with more than 30% and often includes tips already but when you pay they ask you for tips again.
Food was okay, but the worst service we ever had. The waiter was very rude and dishonest. He threw the menu on the table. We said thank you and he never responded. For the check, I specifically asked whether the tip was added and the waiter said no. Then we found 18% tip was already added and we double tipped.
Man, this Thai food is the bomb! I got the Tom Yom Soup, Green curry, and basil fried rice and they all hit the spot. The chicken was so fresh and juicy, not like the frozen stuff they usually throw in curry.
Amazing place - great food and a really good owner
We saw all the great reviews. We got here and waited forever just to get fake chicken in our food. Never again will I set my foot here
One of my favorite places probably ever! The staff are lovely hardworking people and the food is just amazing. The location has changed hands many times but this is the best rendition yet! I hope people can enjoy it for years to come as it is a real treat.
My only recommendation is be careful with the spice levels the first time! Everywhere is a bit different so it’s always good to test the waters gently. No judgement if the heat is intense!
Phenomenal sushi and exceptional service with a smile!
There are seriously big options coming out of this tiny establishment. Big on flavor, freshness and appeal. Lots of take-out happened while I waited 10 minutes for my spring rolls, outside on the patio. Piping hot, crisp and delish. Then my shrimp, veggie and glass noodle entree' came, far more than I could eat in one sitting. You won't be disappointed. Authentic, fresh and [chef's kiss] flavors.
Absolutely delicious! A wonderful menu...thank you for such a beautiful evening
The food here was delicious and different! It was not the same things you see in every Thai restaurant. We ordered a crispy roll, Tom yum soup and two vegetarian entrees all of which were fantastic.
Great thai food
The food is amazing, especially the ginger dish and the pad thai.
Food was tasty and authentic. And because of that, wait times take forever. It is a seriously long wait.
Great food, nice service! Big portions for mains, vegetarian options. Delicious Tom yum soup.
We do take out fairly regularly at Thai Smile. The food is always delicious, fresh, selections and portions are ample, service is prompt! I highly recommend them!
Extremely fresh, super delicious, and well priced. It was also fast considered we went at a pretty busy time for dinner. Would definitely come back!!!
We visited Sat. night. They were very busy and it seems not enough people working.
We waited a while, but food was delicious!!
Loved the food. Authentic Thai flavor. I had tried so many Thai restaurants in New York but this is the best one so far. Very clean and quick service.
Very very good Thai food. Highly recommend this place.
One of the best Thai food I’ve ever eaten in my life. Period! Flavors are out of this world!
Great little spot for thai and sushi. Very nice
1st time trying thai, it was good. Only gave 4 stars because I requested scallions to be added to my dish and they didn't. Instead I received green onions and was charged .50 for it.
Crispiest chicken katsu I’ve ever had. So good.
Thank you 🙏 for delicious Thai food 🙏😍 the food tastes like eating in Thailand 🇹🇭 my feeling like eating at home 🙏😍 for almost 6 years we have been traveling around the USA. HERE!! THE BEST 👍
Came here on a recommendation and are we glad we did. Outstanding food along with great service. We only wished that we lived closer. Every time we are in Vermont you can bet we'll eat here !!! A real find that is reasonably priced
I love this place the shrimp fried rice was delicious and so was the chicken wings.
This place is outstanding, both for dine in and take out. We were visiting Waterbury, VT and were craving something spicy and flavorful and Thai Smile knocked it out of the park. We stopped for lunch and ended up also ordering take out for dinner!
HIGHLY recommend for anyone looking for delicious, generously portioned thai food to truly make you smile. Beware though, they arent kidding about the spice levels so order accordingly! Special call out to the ginger stir fry and the basil fried rice!
FYI there is no frills outdoor seating where you can sit if you have a dog with you. But its minimal so plan accordingly!
Didn’t get a chance to eat here so don’t know how the food was but when we got there 40 minutes before closing the guy told us “we close soon so make it quick” then seated us in a dirty back room so we left. Very rude
Food is awesome. Quantity is quite a lot. So order judiciously and add later if it seems less ( which I don't think would be the case). We were 9 and wanted to sit together by arranging the tables which the person serving us was not very comfortable with. But after some extra polite requests, he agreed. Had great food and great time in the restaurant.
Our 9 year old said "they get 5 stars"! She loved the Avocado fried rice and even our 6 year old tried and liked it which was a win. I enjoyed the cashew vegetable dish but found it a bit too spicy to share with the kids.
Authentic and amazing Thai food served with a smile. Very kind folks who I assume own and operate Thai Smile. We were visiting with friends, and we all agreed it was some of the best Thai food we’ve ever had. We hope to go back before we leave Stowe, and we will definitely come back again when we return next year.
Excellent Thai food with fast service. Very popular locally - when I went to pick up there were take out orders lined up across the counter.
Excellent spring rolls and veggie fried rice. Super spicy at 3 star.
Stopped in first time for early dinner. No one else inside. Seated, drinks, immediately. Wife is Asian, I spent 25 years in Asia. Selection was good. Food was pretty good. Tom yum soup, fresh spring roll, and Pho Tai were OK but we've had better. We love Vietnamese food. This is a Thai place so maybe best to order Thai dishes. Chicken Katsu a bit overdone. Prices are a bit high all things considered IMO.
Outstanding thai food in small Vermont Town of Stowe. Right across Ben & Jerry Ice cream factory. A must try place.
If you like noodle soup, try Khao Soi Noodle. Vermicelli noodle in yellow curry sauce with crispy noodle on top. This is one of their signature dish there. Papaya Salad and fried also were very good. Tiny place serves some great food.
Quick, polite and efficient. Food was delicious!
Soooo we had a really excellent meal here! Its Vermont so expectations were low but man everything was fresh and delicious. We had ginger chix, chix with cashews, crispy pork (little spicy) im going to skip the boring chinese food restaurants and just eat here from now on!
Yummy food at a really good price!
My wife is thai and she recommended the Khao Soi. We both really enjoyed it!
Amazing delicious authentic Thai food. Highly recommend eating here for a taste or something different. Waiter was extremely polite and nice. If you love Asian food then this is the place. Did not expect to see a place like this in the state of Vermont in the area I'm in. I will definitely come back for more.
First time getting food there tonight. I got chicken pad thai, extra chicken, medium spice. I'm in my opinion it was perfect and just what i needed after a long day. Compliments to the chef.
Service was wonderful. Food served very quickly. Lovely presentation of food. Very fresh and cooked to perfection. Atmosphere pleasant with video of Thailand's beautiful scenery and beaches. Quiet and peaceful place to have a meal. Highly recommended.
Great food , with fantastic flavors, very friendly service,
It’s a nice Thai restaurant. Very delicious and savory. I’m not vegan but I love mushrooms and vegetable so recently started to fall in love with vegetable dish so I ordered vegetable green curry and it was really great! I wanna try it again. I really recommend this place if you love Thai food🫶🏻
It's wonderful to have such a great place in central Vermont! Thank you for being here. :)
This place is the best Thai food we have ever had. We came two days in a row while on vacation. We had the Thai iced coffee and tea, steamed dumplings, seaweed salad, pineapple fried rice with tofu, and avocado fresh rolls. It was super fresh and delicious and not greasy at all and the service was great. 10/10 will be returning
My husband and I stopped in after a day of snowboarding and it was SO worth it! We had the Panang and the red curry, both were delicious! Portion sizes were great and the food came out pretty quick. Will definitely be back on our next Stowe trip :)
Food was poorly spiced. Either too salty, too bland, or extremely spicy.
Best Thai food in this part of VT! We come from Chittenden County for it!
It's a small restaurant and not enough seats for the long weekend skiers. We ended up ordering take-out and waited over an hour for them. ☹️ 😠 and they stated about 20 minutes.
Had food poison the second day, almost killed me..
I eat a lot of thai food and this is one of the best I’ve tried, at least one of the courses I tried. Phenomenal.
All of their dishes are amazing. Highly recommend
A must try if you're in the area. All 5 dishes we ordered were delicious, and the level of the spice was perfect.
The pineapple curry and pho were delicious.
Came here with some friends during a snow boarding trip. The place was well decorated with a small amount of dine in seating. It was packed. People in every seat including the waiting room and tons of people picking up carry out. Good signs. We got seated and a man with some sick tatoos who I think may have been an owner (not sure) was serving the whole restaraunt and doing carry out. Absolute boss. He was hilarious. After ordering the Basil duck, he said "you gone learn something today."
I sure did learn something. This place slaps. Everything was really tastey. I got their wings, tom yum, and duck basil. My friends got another duck curry dish with pinneapple lychi and some other things. We were all blown away by the flavors of everything. The wings were top notch, duck was super tender with a crunchy exterior, garnished beautifully with some crunchy basil leaves. The tom yum had so many flavors and you could taste each ingredient individually. I also got shrimp with it, which were perfectly cooked. I tried some.of the duck curry and holy moley was it delicious. The duck was so tender and just melted in your mouth.
Do yourselves a favor, youll be smiling for sure after coming here. At least get carryout but dining in is the true experience. The man who was waiting tables is a boss and it was a pleasure to eat there. We will definitely come back if in the area again. Thanks Thai Smile!
Staff were very friendly and the food came out quickly. No sushi on the menu and I was disappointed in the pad thai. My boyfriend did not like the dumplings either.
Small restaurant, kept my jacket on as the door was open in January.
Good and yummy Thai food in the area! Was pleased to have something soupy during cold winter after a day of working out!
Really appreciate the constant quality!
Wow
Really enjoyed this place...so much I had it twice in one 10 day span. The gentleman that greets and serves hustles all night filling orders for a busy little restaurant. He's personable and friendly, clearly having a connection with his regulars. I requested spicy and got what I was looking for, so specify if you prefer mild. I had fresh shrimp spring rolls, chicken wings, and different pad Thai over the two visits. The main dishes were definitely the best followed by the rolls, but the food was solid across the board. I enjoyed some hot tea as well.
On our vermont trip this restaurant was a great find near stowe. Great atmosphere and absolutely great service. The food reminded me the authentic thai food experience that i had in thailand. Server was also wearing traditional thai attire which was a nice touch. Thai basil fried rice and the tom yum soup was worth recommending to anyone. Will come back again for sure.
The food was absolutely delicious! We waited on a table for about 30mins and about 20-30mins for our food. But, it was a Friday night at a popular place, so that's to be expected. We were visiting from out of town and it was our favorite place we ate in Waterbury/Stowe!
Excellent food.
We drove 30 minutes (with kids) to get to this restaurant, excited to have some Thai. Their website and Google stated they were open until 8:30. We arrived at 7:20, and they said, “no seating, we are closed” (4 tables had people), So I asked if we could order take out since we came so far. “No, we are done (even though a woman just walked out with take out).” No apology, no explanation. I understand that people are short staffed and perhaps they ran out of food? But at least offer your customers a apologetic smile, or say you’re sorry. And for goodness sake, update your hours.
Food was good and spicy.
Fumes from the kitchen made us cough, they definitely need to fix that. Other than this people running this place were nice and courteous.
We had both the Pad Thai and Pad See Ew - and they were excellent. Terrific portions and fresh.
Highly recommended.
Delicious Thai food right on Route 100 in Waterbury. The menu is extensive, offering more than just the few classic dishes. The coconut curry tastes unbelievably creamy. Be warned, however, their "one pepper" warnings for spicy dishes on the menu is more like other places' two peppers.
Do not walk, do not jog, but RUN to Thai Smile in Waterbury to get their fabulous Khao Soi Noodle! It is heaven in a bowl. Bonus points for the owner being a very nice man. My favorite lunch spot during the work day, and also as a dinner treat some nights when I don't feel like cooking. A++++++!
