Creative twists on classic Thai cuisine plus an extensive wine list offered in stylish environs.
Hidden gem, we went tonight and loved the atmosphere and food. We had a ton of appetizers half price during happy hour. We had satay, egg rolls, corn cakes, dragon fire dumplings plus the cheese and crab rolls. All were in point. My beautiful bride was not overly wild over the corn cakes. They were good not great but EVERYTHING else was superb. The peanut sauce was amazing. We will be back for entrees. Can’t wait to try the Panang Curry. Pedro and Desiree did an amazing job taking care of us. Atmosphere is amazing. We will be back.
This right here...this is the BEST Thai in the greater Houston area. I loved walking through the club/bar area to get to our table. Wasn't expecting that. Loved the round table format. Our table ordered and served family style if you are into that. Good wine list, Multiple server format, so my glass never went dry. Absolutely recommend this place.
Merlions is our go to location for date night, friend meet ups, happy hour, special holidays. The drinks are crafted with excellence. Pedro makes the best Old Fashioneds which is my go to. Brooke the owner will give you excellent wine recommendations each and every time. As a foodie I can say this Thai food is so delicious, I have not tried anything I did not like there. I could eat here a few times a week. If you get the opportunity to try off menu items or specials DO IT you wont regret it. We have gotten opportunities to attend a wine pairing and the owners did an exceptional job pairing special dishes with the wine. The atmosphere is what makes this place special, you walk through the doors into something beautiful with great music, colorful decor and lights.
10/10 recommend. I originally came here during Houston restaurant week and was kind of shocked that they had a “dress code”.. after returning this second time.. babyyy! It was so good. We did the chefs menu, and it did not disappoint. Savannah was our waitress, and was so amazing!
We will def. be back.
It was Valentines and we were suppose to go out of town but had to stay due to work. No big deal last minute we called Merlion around 4pm to see if they had reservations or seating at bar first come first serve. Nothing was mentioned about a $85 per person fee we drove 45 minutes across town. The staff was not friendly at all from the greeter to the bar staff. Paying a $300 tab you would think your service would be excellent even if you sat at the bar. My partner paid the bill but when we got home he said wow that staff. Food is excellent but the staff makes the experience.
My family and I went to Merlion for my birthday. It was recommended to us and had decent reviews. Our server did not convey the level of spiciness of the food properly before ordering. Most of us ordered a 2/5 spice level as wet like spicy food. Half of our table could not eat their meals. The server did nothing to try and remedy the situation and explained the spiciness much better after we had already ordered and complained. The food probably would have been delicious otherwise. The one highlight was that it was very festive and a beautiful ambience. Overall though a disappointing birthday dinner. I won’t be back.
This is the best Thia food on this side of Houston. I get the Pad Thai and my wife gets the Kang Karl. They are a little varied on flavor by the day, but it's either the best ever or a really good meal.
The staff are great. They messed up my order (first of 30 visits). They remade the bowl in a timely manner.

Bryan took care of us for Valentine’s Day and was so personal and funny! Food was top notch as always! Can’t wait to come back.

We went with a large group. The food was all excellent, including the appetizers, curries and deserts. The bar area was loud and energetic, while the dining area was more moderate. I'd definitely enjoy returning with a small or large group.
Our first time dining at Merlion and it won't be our last. I had heard good things about it from friends and we decided to try it during the HRW event.
I admit having traveled to both Thailand and Singapore, I was a bit confused with the cuisine vs. moniker issue, but the curries we had were just about as good as the ones in Chiang Mai, and that's saying something.

Love the Dolly Parton Theme
We've been here twice now, and both times found the food absolutely amazing! Best thai food my wife and I have found so far!
We celebrated my son's 50th birthday party at Merlion in Seabrook, and it was truly unforgettable. We had a wonderful time filled with joy and laughter. The food was absolutely delicious! My son was beaming with delight, and I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the staff and owners of Melion Seabrook.
Thank you for your exceptional care and attention to my son's special day, making it a milestone to cherish forever.
We recently went for my besties bday. Party of 12. Everything was soooooo amazing, as usual. Been going for many years. Their curry always hits the spot! I love the spice. My sister on the other hand can’t tolerate spice and we communicated with the server and the kitchen manager came out to assure the food was to our liking. She loved hers as well! Bestie is vegan and loves it here as well! They have something for everyone!
Moved to the area 3 years ago and finally went. Atmosphere and customer service was great but the overall food was mediocre. My wife had the pad Thai and lacked any flavor, as was my dish, masaman chicken curry. Plenty of other local Thai restaurants in the area that are far better. Wished my experience as like the 5 star reviews but fell way short.
Sat at the bar for an early bday celebration with my dad and loved the whole experience. Food is great as well
Went for my 10 year anniversary with husband. Our waitress was very inattentive no personality no recommendations. I had to go get a hostess to get her back to the table. Maybe she was new.. the lamb dish I got was not cut well. Big chunks of meat. Even the appetizer was not great. I wasn't sure why so many people were there. We have been before a couple of years ago and the experience was much better. Not sure what happened.
Good food, but there are plenty of other good Thai places. Incompetent wait staff and the added a tip to my credit card after I tipped in cash. When I asked them to refund it they did nothing. Never going back.
Server did not accurately explain that the spice level here is very high. We were told it ranges from 1-5 and was not told until handed our bill that we could have gotten 0 or even 0.5.
When we told her we could not even eat our food at a spice level of 1 and 2, we were told “I told you so.”
She didn’t check on us after we got our food to ask if everything tasted alright. Would’ve been happy if they would’ve at least tried to fix the issue but didn’t.
My husband came home sick and nauseous afterwards so also worried the food was not cooked properly.
Definitely a shame, and we wasted our money.

Went for drinks, so haven't tried the food yet...but the drink menu is one of a kind. I had a Thai basil margarita.....sounds odd, but that is the best margarita I've ever had.
Worst pad Thai I have ever had. Noodles were dry and almost crunchy. We ended up not eating them. Will not eat there again.
Aside from that, it would be a nice place to go to enjoy a glass of wine.
Lovely art on the wall
Nice dim lighting, great service!
Neve a disappointment
Great variety
Great service
Checks every box for every occasion ✅
Great food, great service. A favorite for date night or small celebrations.
I would come here every day if I could! Love it! Best in area! Exceptionally consistent. Great Happy Hour too!
Awesome place. Jake C. is a legend
Best restaurant and wine in clear lake. Rad prik is the best on the menu.
Went for a birthday dinner and Merlion supplied decorations, champagne, and dessert, all complimentary. The happy hour menu is great value and the service has always been attentive and thoughtful.
Best Thai Restaurant in the area, great food, service and atmosphere.
Special place with super service! Fantastic food, great outside view, and best dirty martini in town!
Best Restaurant in clearlake area. Everytime we return, the experience has been Amazing. Recently our server Deliala was so kind, attentive, and just a delight. Thanks for making my wife's birthday a memorable one.
updated review...
we celebrated our 30th anniv tonight and you treated us like royalty. we will forever remember this night. the staff, the rose petals, the dessert... we adore merlion and drove all the way from Lake Conroe to visit.
past reviews...
Kelly, this 5 star is for you. i dined sun night and had the best time talking foodie stuff with you. you really knew what to suggest and i loved it all. you made my day.
Had a reservation for tonight. This used to be our go to date night spot but now they’re seating everyone so close together you can literally touch the other guests at the tables beside you. I could hear the lady next to me better than I could hear my husband across the table. This place is too expensive to not enjoy your date. Sad because I love their food and used to really enjoy the atmosphere of the place. But it was visibly uncomfortable for both me and the lady sitting to the right of me.
Absolutely amazing food, great service, and awesome ambiance. If you're looking for a date night spot, this is it for sure.
Merlion in Kemah is a gem! The authentic Thai food is absolutely delicious and truly captures the essence of Thai cuisine. The atmosphere is vibrant and fun, making it a great spot for a meal with family or friends. If you love spicy food, this is the place to be – the flavors are bold and perfectly balanced. I had an awesome dining experience and can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend!
I had the pad thai with the combo steak and shrimp..... I'm not really sure if I ever found much steak or shrimp.... The meat portions were terrible and the service was absolutely horrible.... My wife and I will never eat here again....
Been eating here since their old location and it was my girlfriend's 1st time having their food I told her it was amazing yet I had quite a bad experience with service ordering takeout this evening. I ordered over the phone a soup and a yellow curry so my girlfriend could pick it up on her way home. When she arrived they left off the curry... no big deal things happen well, when she orderd the curry in person they brought out Green curry instead of Yellow making her wait even longer. She asked for a manager to try to correct the situation and they just said it would be expedited, the initial order over the phone was well over an hour prior to receiving the food. Service is definitely on the decline unfortunately, however the food and atmosphere are amazing.
Beautiful decor and great food! The service we received was amazing!
Delicious food! Mia was a fantastic server and made perfect food recommendations!
Great food, great atmosphere
My husband and I LOVE Merlion - a true favorite for special occasions!
We LOVE the Salmon Raad Prik, the Tom Kha chicken coconut milk soup, the Merlion peanut curry. And their drinks are great!
Absolutely the best food and my favorite place to go!
Merlion Thai Restaurant & Lounge on 4th in Seabrook is a gem for anyone craving authentic Thai flavors, especially their seafood dishes. They're known for using fresh local ingredients, and it really shows in the taste. The ambiance is cozy, making it a great spot for both a casual outing and a special occasion. Plus, their recognition from OpenTable and Wine Spectator speaks volumes about their quality. Definitely a must-visit for a memorable dining experience.
This is one of our go to places in the area! Great atmosphere, awesome food and the staff rocks. We always enjoy our celebrations here! Ps. Goatcheese and lobster ravioli is to die for! Not on the menu... just ask for it!
Always a great experience. Both the food and service is top notch and the wine list is one of the best in the area. Beware when choosing you spice level hot definitely means hot.
My husband and I went to celebrate our anniversary and they made everything very special. Rose petals on the table, excellent service, complimentary dessert and complimentary champagne on the house. We had a lovely evening. My only slightly negative is that the food can be improved. It is not bad, but not very authentic. I feel it has been modified to suit folks who are not used to thai food. They do give enormous portions., definitely sharable between 2 to 3 people.
The food is americanized and flavorless. The steak and lamb chops were difficult to cut and chew. The tea is not brewed fresh and the flavor/smell was rancid. Paris priceses with chuckwagon food. Yuck.
Not real Thai food, americanized. No spice, very little flavor. Bar scene is the best. Great bartenders. Very loud and very dark.
Merlion is fabulous. Great food, ambiance, and staff. Shout out to Liz, Veda and Clay behind the bar for being awesome.
They go out the way to give great service & awesome food. Couldn’t be happier with my past experience!
Food is fantastic, kitchen was very slow when we were there on a Tuesday night. We waited an hour for our entrees.
Best Thai food in the state of Texas
This was my husband and I’s 2nd time to visit Merlion, the curry had us dreaming about the next time we could go. The staff has been kind both times we went. When we ordered my husband ordered extra chicken on his curry. The waiter told us there would be an up charge (which is usually fine), except when we got our bill the waiter had charged us $21 (the entire cost of 1 curry) for extra chicken. Both my husband and I had the yellow curry, and for each it was the same price $21. When we asked about the bill we didn’t even speak to our server because he didn’t come out… so we spoke to the woman who I assume is the manager? She told us that ordering extra chicken alone costs the same as ordering it with curry. My husband and I were scratching our heads on how to make this make sense… so I asked if I were to only order chicken only - no curry, I would pay $21 for protein alone?? She replied yes. My husband often orders extra chicken and it has never cost us more than $8. She told us that they base the price on the protein, but for curry only (No protein) it costs around $14… so $14 + $21 = $35…. And my curry didn’t cost $35 with the chicken. Which means I should have only been charged $7 for extra protein making my bill for his curry $28. If we had known that we were going to spend $21 more we would have ordered another curry. Or not gotten extra chicken at all. It was very confusing, and the way it was explained made no sense. It kind of ruined the experience for us. After explaining our disappointment she offered to take something off the bill for us however, we were so done by that point we just left… Because of this our bill with the tip was almost $100 just to add extra chicken. The food is great but the service and explanation was strange and disappointing.
Let me just tell you about this place. The Thai food is amazing and some of the best you will ever eat around the greater Houston area….heck in any area. The service is amazing and they make you feel you are right at home. They are friendly and care about you having a great fine dining experience. I am a creature of habit so I love my favorite dishes (Spring Rolls, Lobster Dumplings, Goat Cheese Salad, and Chicken Panang). I have been coming to Merlions for the past 14 years. It is a gem and can never get enough of their foods nor ever say anything horrible about their staff. I have had 2 tops to 20 top parties, and they have always been spot on. I read some of these poor reviews and think are we even at the same restaurant?? The owners and staff pride themselves on service and are sticklers for getting the food and drinks out in time. The food is made from scratch to order so it’s the freshest when it lands on your table. I rarely post reviews but I could not resists after I read some of these negative ones. You can’t go wrong with Merlions. It is an amazing place in every way!! Great people, great service, and outstanding food!!!!
We went on Saturday at 5 30 for a meal .There were 16 of us.This was only my third time here,1st time 13 yrs ago at a Weddng and once a couple of years ago for a meal. They were ok.We and our daughter arrived after the others who were sat down on Saturday..They came to us to order our drinks after about 5 mins of our sitting down and a little later but it was at least half an hour before we could order our meals then,an hour later,we finally got them so we had been there an hour and a half before we ate.Bad service!.Not enough waiters. They were very busy so basically they were short staffed and maybe the kitchen is not big enough or they have not enough Chefs.Three of us ordered Curry.Min e was a sweet Lamb Curry with Pineapple and there seemed to be a courgette as well mixed in there. The meat was a little tough .The sauce was ok.My Husband and Son had spicy currys,my son the Green one with Salmon and my husband a spicy Orange looking Curry with Lamb. His Lamb was very tough and tasted fun n y he said.He should have sent it back!.My daughter had egg rolls with somethi ng as her friend did.I was ok but my husband got terrible stomach pains and terrible diarhe Sat night and Sunday all day and felt sick.My son had bad stomach pains and diarhea Sat night and all day Sunday,my daughter's friend had Diarhea and felt sick also but my poor daughter, she had a terrible headache, STomach pains and was vomiting all the time and never got up until 4pm the next day.Now this was obviously caused by the restaurant, depen d ing on what you ate as the oth e rs were ok I think. The curry sauces apparently all had a fish base. There were only about 6 little pieces of Lamb in the Currys and probably the same with the sal.mon and other thin gs.For that it was 28 dollars.inc rice.So not worth it and the bott les of beer were dearer than the pubs also.My poor daughter has now got a UTI and aches all over.Everyone was perfectly fine before they ate .My daughter goes there often and has never had a problem. We will not be go I ng again but they need to get sorted with the staff in the kitchen.Something defi nitely going on in there and I hate waiting and waiting a lo ng time and I also hate it when they put the service charge on for you which they usually do with a group and they did.Janet Foster
I was taken here to celibate my birthday, the table was set up nicely with little birthday words our wait staff was friendly and helpful our app was alright but the entrees were great. Unfortunately we had to wait a very long time to get our entrees after finishing the apps and the worse part for me was it was extremely loud in the room we were in, people yelling and others trying to talk loud so they could hear over the others.
Went for a nice dinner with my husband. Been to restaurant many times. One of our favorite.
We sat for a long time before we got a waiter. Got our drinks delivered and had to wave down a waiter to order meal. She took our order. Wasn’t our original waiter. We were told 2 people would be waiting on us. Had to wave down a waiter after 45 minutes to ask about our salad. He comes with our salad which obviously had been ready. Then at an hour again waved down waiter for our curry. In meantime “manager “ had come over with all kinds of excuses as to our long wait. When food finally came my curry which was ordered as red was yellow. She said waiter said I ordered yellow. I have never ordered a yellow curry. Her response was … it’s good!!!!
We left very upset and disappointed. She informed us we wouldn’t pay for the red curry which we took home ans didn’t want it at that point. Our waiter never apologized, he was literally useless. Will not be back anytime soon. Very disappointed!
We had the best dinner in some time at Merlions. Shay, our waitress was fantastic and had great drink suggestions. The calamari was the best we've ever had and our entrees were even better. I had the Merlion Thai Peanut Sauce Curry with scallops and my husband had Suara's Fried Rice. We also requested a shot at the suggestion of a friend who is a regular and Pedro brought it out personally. It was an overall amazing dining experience and we will for sure be back.
Be careful with the food here! A yellow curry gave my wife horrific food poisoning. She was up all night dealing with it :(. Also, and purely our opinion, the atmosphere was a little too clubby and the music too loud. Not particularly impressed with the service either. The staff aren't the most exuberant or friendly.
Order as is. Substitutions are costly. Food is excellent.
I'm not sure if I made a mistake or not, but the food I got at the restaurant was not the best. I ordered a Panang Curry with a spice level of 2, satay chicken, and jasmine rice over the phone. The area was alright, and I didn't hang out long enough to really gauge the atmosphere, but it seemed chill. The satay chicken itself was decent and was accompanied with a nice peanut sauce. The panang curry itself was where my issue lies. When I took a bite of the curry I immediately realized that I can taste the spice and I can taste coconut milk but I honestly couldn't taste anything else. It felt like it lacked boldness in its flavor and felt mediocre. As a preface, I'm more used to Pakistani and Indian curries so that could be where my disconnect lies or it could be the fact that I did not get a super high spice level so I would take my opinion on it with a grain of salt.
Always great food and beautiful bar.
Good service, delicious drinks, tasty food, and they also have Thai dishes.
Had a large group and we had a wonderful time. Service was amazing. Everything was so fresh and delicious. Best Thai food hands down in Houston. We tried so many different dishes and everything was amazing. Will definitely be coming back.
Delicious food and beautiful decor! Read Prick was to die for
Best Thai Food around@
Fresh, foods are cooked at the command, that is why it takes a little bit of time to be served,
This place is great, my favourite thing is the pad Thais, unfortunately, chef Andrew passed away, but the place still holds great memories
Always a great happy hour!
Gorgeous just gorgeous! Drinks were A-MAZ-ING!!
Staff is still great!!
This was a wonderful place! The whole restaurant was decorated for Christmas, and the atmosphere was so welcoming and relaxing. The service food and drink were very reflective of the environment, with seasonal options and fun interactions. I was blown away with the selections of meats that can be alternated with your favorite dish. This was my first time here, and I’ll definitely be coming back.
Ordered food to go this evening and was extremely disappointed expensive $$
Asked for #2 in spice level and it was at a level 5 or hotter hard to enjoy the meal dumplings.
We have always ordered food here and experienced with there level of heat.
Ordered Pad Thai and pork in the dish tasted like boiled pork.
Egg rolls were extremely boring for homemade egg rolls..
Not sure if there is a NEW cook but food was not good.
Too many Thai places out here to wasted have our evening there tonight.
If they were smart they would try to salvage me and my family/company but this review will probably be washed away not addressing the problem.
****
Received a call from a female that did not identify who she was from Neelion
All this women wanted to do was ARGUE…..
Definitely not great customer service and how she handle it just put gas to the fire..
Our experience was ours alone and she can not tell me or my family how it was because she did not eat our meal.. unfortunately my 84 year old mother could not eat the FIRE either.
Again like I said before this is not our first time here..
The femal employee said the peppers were hotter than normal…
Wow don’t you think the restaurant should have informed people ordering food??Especially sense they called us back after we placed order to answer and confirm our order??
Guess they forget that small detail???
Not ok…
Beware when you eat her not cheap
Server was great. my sister's and I all shared a Chicken Curry. very spicy, but great curry.
Best Thai food ever
Our server was amazing and the food was great but the music from the bar was SO loud the bass was shaking out table. I understand having a fun atmosphere on one end and a dining experience on the other but the bass was way too high and made our dining experience less enjoyable:/
We have been going to this restaurant for the last 4 years and we find the food and management to be excellent.
Great place for fun and great food
This place is one for the record books. Some of the best Indian food around. Careful with the spices the heat can get hot fast. I’m a spicy food lover and a 3 is my limit here. I’ve been here 3 times and had multiple dishes as we normally share. Everything had been so delicious. This is definitely one of our favorite places to come. Make a reservation early as they can fill up fast especially on busy nights. I love the fried rice, dragon dumplings, lobster dumplings and everything else on the menu.
Excellent Thai food.
So good!!!
Unbelievable great food and service.
Delicious food, great service.
The best Thai food as usual.
This is by far the best Thai food I’ve ever had in the United States! It’s so authentic to the best cuisine I experienced in Thailand. The flavor profile in everything we tasted was absolutely amazing. Super impressed! They aren’t playing around with the spice level. Even if you like spicy food, a level 2/5 if extremely spicy - beware.
amazing as always
First time here. I was very impressed. Happy hour prices on apps. Was able to try several different plates at an extremely reasonable price. Service was excellent and informative.
If I could give this place 10 stars I would!!!
We had the absolute BEST sever Shaye! The best we’ve ever received at a restaurant! Shaye knew the menu so well and every item she suggested was perfect!
We were there to celebrate many milestones such a birthdays, anniversary, and engagement and Merlion did not disappoint!!
But what truly made this dining experience stand out was the exceptional service we received from Shaye. From the get-go, Shaye's attentiveness was remarkable; seemed to anticipate our needs before we even voiced them. She described each dish with such enthusiasm and detail that I couldn't help but trust her recommendations and so glad we did! She went above and beyond to make us feel like a valued guests creating an atmosphere of genuine hospitality that's hard to find these days.
So started with shrimp in the mussel sauce along with the French bread! Oh my word it was amazing! Then on to Kao Pad with sirloin and seared snapper with raad prick! All the dishes were just amazing.
This was by far one of the BEST dining experiences we have ever had! Food was great but Shaye was a gem and she was stellar! Before we book we want to make sure she’s there and asked to be seated in her section. We highly recommend this restaurant. We will be back!
Best place for adult dining, would not recommend bringing kiddos due to the artwork on the walls. The food is amazing and the customer service is top notch. Been a thousand times and by far is my favorite place for Pad Thai. You will not be dissappointed!
Great happy hour
Really good service , food came out quickly and was very fresh , varied menu and staff very accommodating.
Raad Prick is THE BEST curry I've ever had. The food is absolutely delicious, service was amazing, and the view from the Patio was great.
Get here ASAP! and Jake was an amazing server
We had a wonderful dinner here. Curry is amazing. Service was excellent and we like the atmosphere here. We will be back.
Excellent and varied menu. The Panang curry was flavorful with just the right amount of heat at level 2. Service and ambience were also very good.
Best Thai food I've ever had!
Mixed feeling about this place. the people were nice. The food was sadly average. the atmosphere was a bit confusing. I honestly should review lower but, they just do seem to care about this place.
As to the details, I think the biggest problem is the atmosphere. Its upscale but, somehow a club style. Perhaps this is meant to be a ladies resturant (so guys may want to stay away) as it just clearly seems to be aimed at women with all the mermail references. However, I do find it weird that its Tai food with this aim.
As for the food, its tai but, yet they are missing the main tai dishes like tiki masla. It was fairly bland as well as they are modifying the food. I think they may think heat equals spice which is untrue. The food is plenty spicy but, its not flavorful.
Let me just say, our experience with the staff was absolutely amazing. We had a sweet girl who did a great job for her first day. With that out the way, the rest of it was incredible subpar. I understand it's a "Thai-fusion" but considering there's an authentic Thai restaurant closer to where I live for around the same price, I was disappointed. All our food was subpar with flavors that just didn't work well at all. We ended up ordering more appetizers and did a "family style" entrees which was even more disappointing. Pad Thai was dry, the ribeye was weirdly sweet(?) And most disappointing, my Tom Kha Gai was extremely thick and had almost a sour milk taste. Considering it was for my dad's birthday dinner, I was extremely disappointed and embarrassed. Amazing service but do not go here for authentic cuisine.
Amazing food and atmosphere. great staff
This was my first visit to Merlion. Katie was an energetic and friendly server. She assisted me with my selection. (My suggestion is if you like your food spicy, go with a two. If you eat ghost peppers in your spare time, five will make you cry.) Scenery is wonderful. You won't be disappointed.
We enjoy coming here very much especially during their happy hour! The bar staff is very friendly and the food is always delicious!
Just came back last night to celebrate a birthday. Pedro was awesome as usual! Thank you Pedro!
I would like to retract the negative review I posted earlier regarding my experience at this establishment during a birthday party. After reviewing the reply from management, I have come to realize that my initial assessment was based on incomplete information and lacked an understanding of the underlying circumstances
Thank you to the Merion management for your timely response and professional approach. In the near future, my wife and I have plans to visit your establishment with the intention of fully immersing ourselves in the experience.
Merlion has great Thai food and amazing cocktails. The staff are very welcoming and attentive. They make you feel like you are right at home. Make sure if you are in the mood for Pad Thai that you look no further than Merlion. Enjoy the date night or night out!
Super expensive place to eat dinner, not worth going... save your money for more better experience else where, food not great and prices super high, not worth it
Super loud restaurant. Food expensive and okay. Service was good. Cheesecake dessert disappointing. Probably will not return.
Best Thai restaurant in SE Houston. Upscale, trendy and a great happy hour bar too!
Crowded and loud. But excellent food. Servers were nice and a guy who seemed to the owner, frequented tables to ask if we needed anything else. Highly recommend Merlion. Stay with wine, cocktails here are very week.
I'll just keep this simple. I took my folks here that are in town and we had the rudest service from waiter to manager. They could care less about your business. Its over priced, I guess you can call it, Thai food. No veggies with most meals. Rice and protein and fancy sauce.. Mom's Pad Thai was all noodles and dry. Not a great experience. Go to Tookies Seafood if you want great service and artisans for chefs and pay $100+ for dinner. This place is trying to be something it's not. The one star reviews all make sense. That was our experience too..
Amazing experience. Made the trip to Houston worth it. Shout out to Kathy ( hope I spelt it right ) for being an amazing host!
Some of the best food in the houston area.
Hour away from Katy but we make the drive.
Get the ahi tuna (off menu)
We love going here for date night. The food is always awesome. They are usually good about reminding but be sure to keep in mind the spice level is 0 to 5 not 10 haha. I like spicy food and a 3 is plenty for me. Also, a lot of the art work in the dining room is adult oriented. I usually try to position myself facing away from it, it is not my thing and ends up being distracting. It would be pretty nice if that did not make me face away from the door, but we still love it here.
Enjoyed a nice date night here with my wife. The atmosphere was pretty nice, overall, although the lighting made it very hard to read the menu. The service was not bad, but don’t be surprised to be here for a couple hrs; the drinks and food took a really long time. The dragon fire dumplings and Tom Kha soup were the best things we had. The lamb with massaman curry was not bad, and the pla choaplaya snapper dish was pretty good. I love really spicy food, but be warned! If you order extra spicy, it is NO JOKE. A level 2 out of 5 is seriously spicy. Good experience, but the tab was over $200 for two with a couple drinks and 3 courses.
Excellent customer service and best Tom Kha Chicken soup!
Excellent food and even better service. Highly recommend!
I absolutely love this place. The food the atmosphere. Everything is amazing.
Great times to be had in an upbeat, classy restaurant/bar. The drink menu is grand and the food is on point. Fantastic service.
หนึ่งที่เที่ยวที่ต้องมาสำหรับคนมาเที่ยวสิงคโปร์
The service was great. Clay took very good care of us. His suggestions were spot on, the food was all delicious. This was a perfect birthday dinner. Rose petals on the table as well as birthday confetti. A bottle of bubbly and a mini red velvet bundt cake was given to us at the end of the meal. They really go the extra mile. I can't wait to go back when Spring arrives and you can take advantage of the outdoor seating and lovely views.
Make sure to get a reservation - wonderful experience!
I posted a review 5 years ago stating that it was slow service and bland food. Boy has it improved. Our server, Jordan, was great! The food was full of flavor and spice. Everything was spectacular, from the drinks all the way through dessert. I am very critical of places and a 5 star from me is very rare. I would highly recommend this place.
Fantastically delicious food and an excellent drink selection, Merlion never fails as an excellent dinner location. This is one of our favorite places for local date nights, and they even have a bike rack for convenient parking out front.
Dumplings were some of the best that I've had. I tell everyone about this place.
Generous portions and tasty dishes. You can pick the level of spice you want. You may want to start on the end
This place has the best food! And Maddi is our Favorite!!! Great for date night, our kids even love it!
Merlion is a whole new level of Thai. Start with some TomKa shrimp soup, or they're currently offering Houston food week 3 course for $35 and the crab egg rolls were delicious and well filled. My family loves the arsenal of well flavored curries and they have a large range of spice levels. Even our spicy lover taps out at a 4 and the 1 is nothing to scoff at, just an FYI. Dessert isn't really what you come here for, chef Andrew is the star of the whole place and his specialties never go wrong. Try some of the Red Snapper in either the red curry or creamy oyster sauce, all I can say is Wow!
Excellent, delicious food
Loved the Thai Fusion food and how delicious it was! The bar area was very loud though, with lots of holiday parties. Loved the Thom Kha Gai, Dumplings and the food was quite delicious. Romantic dining room but bar too loud!
Some of the best Thai food in Texas. Do not sleep on this one. Delicious curries. Amazing drinks. Worth a few visits at the minimum!
Great Thai restaurant! We had lobster Panang (3) and ribeye Thai peanut curry (2). And as an appetizer chicken dragon fire dumplings. Both of the main courses had plenty of heat while maintaining great flavor. We will be back for sure!
Exceptional in every way! The atmosphere to the service to the food itself—and even the intangibles like care and attention of the serving staff. Merlion is the best kind of high class restaurant where higher prices are beyond justified in every facet of the experience. Our waitress, Cathy, rocked it! Can’t recommend Merlion highly enough for a special night out!
Food entirely spicy, over price, meat are tough, barely put meat on a dish that worth $35 what a jokes. Service are dang slow. Had party last Saturday and food wasn’t even good. How these people say food was good, do they even know how to cook. I’m sorry but very disappointed because I came home with very bad stomach ache after eating their food. I was about to go emergency that I thought I had food poisoning. Thanked God I drink hot tea and helps me little.
I got birthday reservations and everything was amazing! The table was decorated with birthday confetti and crushed rose petals. I wasn't expecting any of that. I got the shrimp penang curry with avocado and bamboo shoots spice level 3. It was perfect. They even gave me a birthday bunt cake (with a candle) that was also sooooo yummy. Thank you for the awesome experience.
Best Thai FRESH flavor profiles I've had in 13 countries
The food is a little inconsistent but the ambiance always makes up for it. Servers are great!
Thais was a cool dining experience, and we had a great server! The only negatives were that most of the menue contained coconut which I am alergic to, so my choices were quite limited and the lighting when walking in is extremely dark.
Bartender Lauren took care of us and we had a great time. This was our first visit but we definitely plan on coming back! Good service is hard to come by these days thank you Merloin for the great experience.
This place has amazing food and my waitress Lauren gave stellar service! It was my first time there and they did not disappoint! I had the crab bisque, lobster and goat cheese dumplings, and the panko crusted red snapper Panang curry. Delicious! I will definitely be back with friends soon.
Great food! 😋. Yummy drinks 🍹 fantastic service! Must be the reason the restaurant is always packed
Stopped in to get a drink ended up getting some dragon fire dumplings which were just that... Fire! They have the best happy hour in town and the service is excellent, particularly Lauren and Heather. They never allowed my glass to be empty and they were gracious, polite, and prompt. I will go there again and I recommend everyone to give it a try, you will not be disappointed.
While visiting my family on vacation we wanted to see what the hoopla was about a place we had come across online. “Merlion Thai restaurant and lounge”… I’d never really eaten Thai food before but I was up for an experience and an EXPERIENCE it was!! The most authentic and scrumptious dish options including a delicious traditional papaya salad, YUM! You can add spice levels to any dish if you like a kick. We dined in the bar area and the lights and art/music made the night even more fun. Our bartender/ server Lauren offered us the “raad prick” dish which is the award winning dish and WOW…I can see why. I got mine with nilgai antelope chops which I had never experienced before but was pleasantly surprised. Lauren also offered us the fried goat cheese on the side of our curry which isn’t the norm but was an excellent addition that I would try again. We live in Delaware but our families are now regulars and we will be back every time we visit!
Came for my birthday and had a wonderful time. Lauren, our server, was attentive and answered all our questions. We were even given a dessert for this occasion and I really appreciated it.
