I usually love their food and service but that didn’t happen today. Ordered a delivery through Uber and got multiple egg shells all over my pad see ewe. And had some burnt/moldy noodles. I tried contacting Uber support they said they can’t help me so I called the restaurant and they were not willing to help either because I ordered through Uber. Don’t really understand how it’s my fault, I was told that since Uber pays them then Uber should help me, but Uber won’t help me and they already got money either way so I don’t get this. How is it okay to serve food with so many egg shells?
Thai Spice Restaurant
one of the most amazingly best Thai food I ever had. The spice levels are up to the mark and the food is impeccable. We had the Pork Sausage Fried Rice, Crab Fried Rice, Chicken Cashew and Crispy Duck which was more than enough for 4 people.
The service is excellent and quick. They would check on you and would attend to your additional requirement as well. Ambience was great as you could sit outside and enjoy the nice weather and a chat .
Excellent place and good value for money. Less than USD 25/- per person spent in total for the dinner, hence this is a good place for a family or a couple to enjoy a nice dinner, with good portions.
Definitely recommend this place for tourist to either have an authentic taste of Thai food or just to relax and enjoy dinner/lunch and company too...!!
We’ve ordered take away from here a few times and decided to eat in person for a weeknight dinner.
Food here is very tasty and ample portion sizes.
The Thai iced tea is a little too strong for my liking but I absolutely enjoyed it after the gave some half and half to mix into it to my preference.
Food came out quick and the service was good.
We got the green curry and pad kee mao, our usual and this place didn’t disappoint.
Came here for my kids 16th bday party w a group of 12. The reservation process could be easier (only allows to make reservations for up to 6 so had to do it twice but it’s fast so no big deal). The food and atmosphere were both exceptional. The prices and portions are more than fair. It’s hard to go wrong with GOOD Thai food. W that being said there are plenty of “Thai” places out there that taste like it came out of the frozen food section. This is not one of them. The ingredients were obviously fresh and everything was cooked perfectly. Presentation was great. Service was exceptional. We will be back for sure.
I visited this place twice, first everything was great! Liked the food.
Second time I am not sure if they changed the chef or waitress was new, they gave meat dumplings when I had ordered vegetarian dumplings . After that I was scared to eat anything .. ofcourse they gave nice free drink on occassion of mother's day! So I request the management to take care not to do such blunders and be sensitive to people with different eating habits..
I liked the veg soup a lot..
A pleasant place. Many traditional Thai dishes on the menu. But waiter confirmed many modified for American tastes. I asked about Khao Soy, a personal favorite, and he said they substitute fried chicken to keep the locals happy. Had a great Som Tam salad which was very good. Final sad note was getting fortune cookies at end of the meal.
I was visiting family in Austin and we have friends and family in Lakeway. They suggested Thai Spice. We went and had a wonderful experience. Food was excellent, great portions, and our server as well as food runners were professional, charismatic, and helpful. Place was very neat and clean. Only minor point was three of the four members of our party received their meals 7-8 minutes before the last person, so we waited awhile with food in front of us to eat for the last person’s meal. But they apologized profusely and recognized the error. Otherwise it was excellent and I highly recommend!
Used to be good but now food is mediocre at best - pad Thai is 90% onions with very little (chewy) meat/ noodles, curry was a tiny portion with no flavor. Unfortunately, the service is even worse and the table and restrooms were very dirty. They had the nerve to roll their eyes when we asked for simple things like napkins and a fork for each person at the table?! They also brought out dirty bowls and had an attitude when we asked for ones without dried food stuck to them…all around bad experience and the whole place just felt unsanitary.
Nothing to right home about...

Horrible customer service! No one should yell at customers first place.. you pay more to your custom orders and they don’t care.. veggie fried rice with extra veggies request, they charge extra $3 but put one piece of carrot and one piece of broccoli.. when asked they yell at you🤔💁👎👎👎👎👎
Portion to price ratio isn’t there. $19 for sub par yellow curry is $5 more than I’ve ever paid for a better and bigger meal.
Great food, and very kind staff. Always consistant.
It's what you expect from a chain.
The lunch special is great with soup and salad. I ask for no egg roll and steamed tofu. They even have brown rice!
Lakeway staff and manger is very rude. If due to health reasons I have to order veggie only for garlic chicken, they are so rude to put a chunk of chicken on top of my to go order. Then their faces are also very stern if you ask some changes in the dish.
I have never seen a any restaurant that gets mad at you if you have health issues and you want to order veggies or less spicy:
Unbelievable … never seen such unfriendly angry staff.
Great food and large portions. Great service.
If you order delivery, don’t expect to get your full order.

I’ve ordered curry from here a few times. They really need to make improvements. First, they need to cook their food longer. The vegetables are pretty hard still. They don’t have to be complete mush, but at least not hard. It feels very lazy of them. Also, provide a non spicy option and let people build on it as they like. I can’t tolerate too much spice. I don’t want a bunch of jalapeños in it to start.
$18 for mushy pad Thai with no spice/flavor. It really wasn’t good. Very disappointed especially for that price point.

Hard and dry vs sticky mango sticky rice. That had a great rating, but I was thoroughly disappointed. Tom kha basically only had mushrooms other than the protein.
Honestly amazed how good the food was. The meat quality and flavor profile on the pepper steak amazing, portions were fairly big. I will definitely come back next time. Great service, awesome menu.
My Dad and Step-Mom are regulars here. They are crazy about the food AND the staff. I live in CT and wanted to treat my Dad to a birthday dinner as a surprise. I contacted the restaurant and although super helpful they had obvious concerns such as possibly paying for the wrong couple. I figured it was a no go but described them and asked if they think they have them identified to give me a call. The restaurant did reach out shortly and were able to confirm the couple so I could pay for their meal. I received a call from my Dad afterwards. Not only did they make that happen but they also presented him with a card signed by the staff and a slice of cake with a candle and birthday song! He was so happy and it was clear that he felt pretty special. I really want to thank the staff here not only for making my Dad’s day when I couldn’t be there but for being so great to them each and every time that they visit. I’ll definitely be dining here next time I visit! Thanks again!
It is a very nice place to eat. Service is good. The food is really good. It's a bit on the pricey side, but you will feel full and not feel guilty about it.
We’ve ordered take away from here a few times and decided to eat in person for a weeknight dinner.

Ordered takeout for 4 of us. With a 15% tip and without any drinks it was $85. The food was ready on time. When we got home discovered they had not included one order of rice even though clearly printed on the receipt. Some meals were big (red curry though there was very little meat in it), but the salad was small. Overall the food was fine but nothing special. Really used to like eating here a few years ago, but decided to try their takeout recently. Overall...not impressed and not coming back anytime soon.
Ordered the butternut pad kee mao
With chicken, no tomatoes (I am allergic to them), no jalapeño and no chili
And I got exactly nothing of that order
It had tomatoes, jalapeños and absolutely no chicken and no butternut noodles
Very disappointed, this is the second time they have majorly messed up on my order
It will be the last
To bad I really enjoy Thai food
I enjoyed the food that I had and would like to try a couple more dishes when I go back. The portion size for the value is good.
Food is very good. Desserts are amazing!

Great food
The place had been opened for about 20 years and they are consistently good.
The food is great but they randomly close 30 minutes early. Even for pickup orders. Change the hours online if you don’t except orders past a certain time.
Good and service was great but the atmosphere wasn't quite up to what I hoped for dinner. It struck me as a great lunch place but not really dinner. That being said. the food was delicious, fairly priced and the staff was great
Unbelievably good food!
I didn't know what to expect here but was pleasantly surprised at how good the food, atmosphere, and service was. We're coming back for more.
Always a pleasure to eat here!
This place was a pleasant surprise!!The service was amazing and the food was excellent!! Our waitress was so sweet.
This place was packed with lots of to go orders waiting. We were seated within a few minutes and our orders were taken shortly after. They were down 2 chefs and with that came a longer wait for the food. Nonetheless it still came out very hot and with great flavor. The pineapple fried rice and Tom kha soup are excellent. All the staff were so attentive and friendly. The food is always consistent.
They are back to being 30 minutes behind schedule on their estimates. Please adjust your estimates when you're that far behind, and stop lying to people about what the wait will be. It's so disrespectful and unprofessional to say 2 minutes when it's really going to be 30. I have ordered from here every Thursday night for years but I cannot handle the lies anymore

Pros: ambience, location, kids menu in a Thai restaurant is unheard of.
Cons: Slightly expensive
Recommendations: green curry, kids chicken fried rice
Rice taste like shrimp, Sesame Chicken cold in middle...
Came in for lunch special. For the price of a curry I also go two small rolls, miso soup, and a ginger salad that was better than most paid for house salads. The Panang itself was rich and well orchestrated. Service was almost too fast and friendly. Could have used a tad more rice for the generous curry portion.
Food and service have been great the 2 times I've dined in and ordered out. I've especially enjoyed:
- Lunch special (dine-in only)
- Beef pad thai
- Crispy fried duck
- Fried rice
Tip: If you're dining in and you're in a rush, you'll have to be assertive about waving down a server. This doesn't bother me.
Noticed the rating didn't reflect my good experiences so I had to chime in. I'll be coming back regularly!
Best Thai food we have ever had.
Good food and friendly staff. Never disappoints with the quality and quantity of food. Definitely recommended
Best Thai in Texas
nice thai food!
Great food and great service definitely going back.
I order Pad Thai noodles for lunch to be delivered and they sent no utensils! It’s noodles
Delicious Pad Thai
Thai Spice Restaurant is a true flavor paradise! The authentic Thai dishes had my taste buds dancing with joy. The cozy ambiance and friendly staff made it a memorable dining experience. Already craving my next visit! 🍛🌶️👌
I'm soy intolerant and the server took that into account and told me what dishes to avoid and even was able to get the kitchen to make a soy-free fried rice for me. Wonderful and gracious service!
Great restaurant.
This place is downtown quality Thai food in an unexpected geo. I randomly stopped here after a lake day and have now shared it with many friends. Everyone'sloved it. Damn good green curry.
Good standard Thai food.
Fui hace poco y el trato y la atención pésimo , me lo recomendaron porque el ambiente era agradable, la comida no es tan buena , me hicieron esperar demasiado y a la hora de traer la factura no se tardaron en nada
I visited this place twice, first everything was great! Liked the food.

I liked the veg soup a lot..
This is our local go to Thai restaurant. We eat here on a regular basis and the food never disappoints!
Amazing food. Hands down best basil fried rice I’ve ever had.
Amazing interior and so good! Go get some of the best Thai food in Austin!
Please bring back the lunch buffet!!
One of the best Thai places I've eaten in a while. My wife and I try to sneak in for lunch whenever the kids' schedules allow it. Their Thai tea is also killer if you are on the run and looking for a fix.
Their curries are all excellent but my partial to Pad Thai. I haven't tried something I didn't like yet.
The food is great… don’t order online and give them your information on the website unless your ready to receive a lot of spam to all your socials and phone number… I thought it was fishy they wanted all my info just to order pick up. I ordered from their site.
Incredibly slow. Take on way to many orders that they can’t fulfill. Also, if you are there to pick up, they will forget your order and just let you sit there. Told the same lady 3 times and she forgot every time. Had to ask a different person to finally get my order.
What's not to love about Thai Spice? My husband and I have been eating here since high school. The servers are always friendly and the food is always delightful. Consistency is key.
Lunch menu was ok. Food seemed like it had been sitting cooked for a while. Restaurant was cold.
Best Pad Thai I've had in Austin. All three at my table were very happy with their meals!
First time eating here. My wife and I both enjoyed our meals, I had the "Tiger cried" which was cooked perfectly and came with white rice and a Thai spicy sauce. My wife had the "taste of ginger" with chicken which I sampled and you could definitely taste the ginger but it wasn't to overpowering and the vegetables were delicious. We also split an order of pineapple fried rice which is also pictured, and had wonderful flavor as well. We we're well taken care of by the staff and will be back again.
Food is great but they take on far too many customers and to go orders. We waited 2 hours for delivery when we were told 35 minutes and tried cancelling but the driver had been there 30 minutes waiting. Setting proper expectations is only fair, even when the food is good.
This food was delicious and our service was outstanding. This was some of the best Thai food we’ve ever had and appreciate that it’s here.
I went for lunch with the family. Food was subpar and expensive. On top of that 20% tip/gratuity is already added to the bill. You do not have the option to grant the tip based on the service and quality of the service. I was disappointed to pay >$20 per person for the quality of food&service. I will not be going there again.
Food to go, I waited 5 minutes for the one server to check me out. Hardly any patrons in restaurant but many bags of food to go. I ordered Tom lemongrass soup, it was so salty I could not eat it. The vegetable dumplings were falling apart so mushy, waste of $17 . This restaurant has steadily been declining over the last two years.
Still solid. Liked it better when you served yourself at buffet for lunch
Food was below average to average, pineapple fried rice had most probably a high amount of fish sauce and the curry powder but low amount of pineapple, dumplings were barely warm almost felt as if they probably took it from freezer and slightly steamed it and gave it definitely wont suggest it. Location was good service was okay. I am assuming the 4+ stars is probably cuz of the location. Definitely wont be returning. Definitely not worth the price i had way way better food for a much lesser cost.
I’ve eaten here probably over 30 times and the food is always great. However, as of late the quantity of most dishes has gone down and the prices have gone up as well. Its part of inflation I suppose but I won’t be ordering as frequently as a result. Such a shame.
I was first seated at the very far end of the restaurant when I first entered there's hardly no one there at first but then you will have to wait after seated I was given a menu and sat privately. I then thumb through the menu and the waitress who is very busy came by after being seated 16 minutes afterwards. She seemed to be overwhelmed with guests and dinner. The place was not that packed but yet there was not that many servers which is happening all over the place. I sat down and ordered the "tom jerd soup, then " phai thai combination. The flavor was missing this time around the usually are very flavorful this time it looked like a quick meal. I was very surprised that I was served jasmine tea that was semi-cold. I was very surprised but I will be returning to give an upgrade or an update at a later date. They usually serve better than what I received so I will give them a chance at least to see if there's any change.
Delicious food. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Lunch menu includes soup and appetizers. Service was prompt. Staff courteous and efficient. Our Tom yum soup had plenty of chicken and mushrooms. We ordered Pad Kee Mao with beef and Green curry Fried rice with shrimp. Both were delicious.
Love the new store front! The food was just as I remembered it! The Hot and Sour Soup is the best ever! One of my all time favorite places to eat!
Wonderful taste. The green curry fried rice is a dish that you get only at this restaurant. It is very good. The green/red curry with rice is really good as well. Remember to ask them to cut the veggies into small pieces. (They give huge pieces by default)
the service is very lacking , just take your order and we didn't see the waitress the whole meal.
When got the check we saw a 20% charge for service and apparently it's mandatory for 5 (family of 2+3 kids) that explains why whey don't bother to serve you.
They automatically add gratuity of 20% which is bull.
Been here several times this year 2022 to eat dinner out. Always find it tasty and affordable. Never crowded, though they seem to do a fairly busy weekend evening take-out business. That’s fine, quieter dining experience.
Tasty and delicious food
Really good food.
I went here with my boyfriend and the servers never checked up on us only to seat us down we were the only ones that were not getting attention and it was probably because we’re brown and that’s so messed up
Delicious food, good service & great price.
The food was very good, nice spice to everything.
Very good. I had the yellow curry and it was outstanding.
One of my favorite Thai places around, service might be a tad slower than normal and the food does take a tad bit longer than other restaurants but it is definitely worth it.
Freakin great! Best Thai in the area!
Average at best pad thai -- not impressed. But lunch special portion is large, probably good if you just want a very nice sized lunch for $12.
Very good food. We picked up to-go many times during covid and now enjoy the patio.
Had the chicken fried rice wasn't to impress
We order takeout from here at least once a month (for the past 2+ years). I’ve had Pad Kee Mao at so many places across the US and in Thailand and this place is among the best I’ve had. It’s consistently good too - we’ve never had an “off” order ever. Yes, the wait can be lengthy sometimes, but we just order ahead and plan accordingly - it’s clear the food isn’t rushed and the quality and consistency reflects that. My husband loves the Massaman curry too (and the Panang curry is also fantastic). Highly recommend!!
Had the most amazing experience today! The hostess was SO nice and helpful. Definitely coming back!
The pad Thai was delicious! I got a soccer level 1/5 and my husband, who eats a lot of spicy food, got a level 3/5 and we had a hard time eating it because of how spicy it was.
The coconut cake (recommendation came from the lady that took our order) was to die for! The quality of the coconut water and the way it was presented was really nice! So was the basil fried rice and the appetizer sampler. We enjoyed the curries (panang and green) that we ordered as well. Their outdoor seating arrangement amongst their Gardenia, Hibiscus, Marigold and Impatiens plants is cozy!
Superbfood. Varied and tasty.
They are incredibly slow. If your time matters to you, do something for yourself and find another place.
YUM. Our family go-to for take out. I have been spoiled with very great Thai restaurants in my time and am so lucky this one happens to be in my backyard. It’s a hard decision to decide on which dishes to order because they have all been so good.
Food is consistently tasty.
Love the Pad kee mao chicken..
Just spent $56 on two meals and got great flavor in the sauce. $45 worth of white rice $4 chicken and $5 shrimp.. Really?
Update - It took you 6 months to reply....
Very bad service. It's been 40 min and the only thing served is water. Empty restaurant, not many people and still they are taking that long for 1 dish. If you have 45 min to wait for your food, do give it a try.
Went here for my first time amazing experience. FOOD WAS DELICIOUS!!
We had take away and everything was very delicious. We’ve lived in Southeast Asia for a while and often struggle finding good Thai in the States. We shared a chicken sate, green curry with brown rice, and a Penang curry with white rice. Great place and we hope to eat in soon.
Delicious food. Check out their lunch specials!
Their pad kee mao was one of the best ones I ever had. In love with this place. I wish they were near my home.
Food was really tasty, however...it took a LONG time to get the food. And although the waitress was nice, she was not interested in waiting on us. Had to ask for sweetener for tea, then soy sauce for food, and had to interrupt an employee break to ask a different waitress for the check. Two entrees (garlic shrimp, cashew chicken both with miso aoup, and 2 green teas was $50. So kinda pricey too.
We had yum nur, Tom yum, tiger cried and pineapple fried rice. Pineapple fried rice was the best - had pineapple, cashew, dried cranberry and slices of chicken - the sweetness and sourness was well balanced. Portion size was quite big we couldn’t finish all but everything was just great with the right sourness and spiciness. Won’t recommend tiger cried it’s overcooked - the mushroom bell pepper and the beef. It was really bland and even with the dipping sauce which was tangy sour it didn’t make this dish more edible.
I absolutely love the food here. The Tom Kha is my all-time favorite dish and no other restaurant can compare. The broth is so rich and has a lovely hit of lemongrass and lime that makes it exceptionally delicious. I have never had a bad meal or bad service from Thai Spice, they are simply wonderful!
One of the best Thai food restaurants, foods is prepared well.
DON'T ORDER DELIVERY FROM THIS RESTAURANT!!! We're big fans of Thai Spice food, but instead of driving all the way into Lakeway, we're ordering delivery nowadays. So far, we tried Grubhub and Doordash. So far, three of the six Thai Spice deliveries have been very late, anywhere from 45 minutes to an HOUR AND A HALF past our original delivery time estimate. We asked the drivers why, and they say that the restaurant accepts too many too many orders. Their kitchen can't handle it. Tonight, our first delivery driver gave up after WAITING AN HOUR past the original pick-up time. I don't usually complain or write reviews, but this restaurant should know better. They've been in business for 15 years, maybe more.
Great atmosphere. The waiter was attentive. The appetizers were great and the wait time was very short for a nicer restaurant. 100% recommend
Food deserves 5 stars. I myself have only know one other place to be this good, Thai by Thai in palm coast, FL. Best in Texas right here look no further.
This place should have a 5.0. We travel all over the country and Thai food is a staple. This is probably the best Thai food I have ever had. The place is beautiful and clean. Servers are wonderful and the food is DELICIOUS. We will be back again and anytime we are in the Austin area.
Very good food and service
I love the pad see u! So good and I totally recommend it, though I do think the sushi has a lot of rice and not enough stuff on the inside!! But it’s great and filling!
Great menu, delicious food, well priced.
This place is definitely a diamond in the rough. Food was wonderful, ambiance was amazing, service was top notch! Loved it!!
Last week, I ate at Thai Spice with some friends. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food. I had chicken satay, which was pretty good, and miso soup, which seemed really bland to me, but could be my taste buds. But, what really rubbed me wrong was this. The menu I had, as did the person next to me, showed a $7 price for the chicken satay. When I went to pay my bill, they charged me $8. When I asked our waitress, who brought me my bill, about it, she said it was $8. I told her that the menu said $7. She walked over to the wait station and looked at several menus, all of which showed $7. She then told me that that was the old menu. Then she walked across the restaurant to a cabinet and brought me a new and different menu that showed $8. I don't want to accuse anyone of being intentionally deceitful, but why would you, knowingly, give people an old menu and keep the new menus in a cabinet. If you have new menus, wouldn't you toss the old menus and put the new menus out. It just seemed a little too much like bait and switch. I'm disappointed. When I reminded the waitress, several times, that the menu she gave me said $7, she just kept saying the price is $8. At most restaurants, or businesses, they would honor the "advertised" price, but she refused. While I have liked the curries here in the past, I'm rethinking whether I will return.
Great service great food.
This place is always good. Their lunch offers free apps when you order a meal, I hope they get back to offering the sushi, soup and salad buffet, that they offered during lunch.
I try to visit anytime I am in Lakeway. Pad Kee Mao and Tom Kha soup are my go-to orders.
Coconut rice is awesome! I have seafood allergies and my other food was cross contaminated, otherwise I would have given 5 stars.
Great Thai food. Loved the basil fried rice.
Ended up going to this place because a food truck park we went too was not open yet. We should thank those truck folks.
The good was great, the service was fast and the prices were good too.
We got the sesame chicken, cashew chicken and the garlic chicken. We loved the garlic chicken, found the cashew chicken good and our son liked the sesame chicken although it was too sweet for our liking.
The lunch here comes woth appetizer bar and that was something else. It has soup that was delicious, sushi that was falavorful, sprint rolls that were nice and tempura that was decent but the variety it offered to the meal made it a very different thai lunch experience and a very good one
We are going back in 2 weeks :)
The food was really tasty. Especially the panden cake and the coconut ice cream. We really enjoyed. The price was reasonable. Also, the staff was so friendly and they served a good service. Highly recommend them. 👌
