DAN HUE Cafe is a celebration of the spirit and vivid flavors of Southeast Asia, in the heart of one of America’s largest and most diverse cities.
Our Chefs have a passion for the culinary traditions from Asia while added contemporary touches help to create a menu that balances classic Vietnamese and Chinese comfort foods, with delicate fusions of Asian cuisine to create reasonably priced Vietnamese, Thai, and Chinese dishes which celebrate the street food culture of Southeast Asia.
First time coming here! I ordered a vegetarian pad thai dish. To be honest, I wasn’t that impressed for the price I paid for. The texture of noodles was pretty good but flavor was okay. Perhaps if they put little more of mushroom seasonings, that would be better.
I wanted to try pho yet they don’t have a vegetarian option since the broth is all made of beef broth. Vegetarian broth is appreciated.
Cheers 🥂
Got my Vietnamese egg rolls appetizer and appetizer was wrapped in wonton wrapper and not the rice paper. Clearly says on the website wrapped in rice paper. They were inedible. Extremely disappointed. $12 I’ll never see again. Also did not get my peanut sauce for my spring rolls. Total paid for my disappointment is $22
Today me and my mom did not like our food.
My Vietnamese salad tofu was tasteless. The only thing I liked were the rice noodles, the peanuts, fish sauce, lettuce and cucumber that came with it. I ended up putting most of my tofu in another small bowl.
My mom's pho soup, the meat was so rough as tough as the sole of the bottom of a shoe. She couldn't even chew it to rip it apart. She removed her meat from her soup as well. Also, prices were too high for the low quality. I am very disappointed and I wish I could have my money back.
I left hungry, and just got home and cooked myself something else.
Food is low quality and pricey! I ordered Singapore noodles they came out sticky and clumpy! Sent it back.. definitely was not going for low quality cooking for price of food! I’m glad to accommodate $$ only with the good food I’m paying for.
Decided to try this place for lunch for my mother's birthday lunch and we are so glad we did. They say then down quick, we made reservations just in case lunch rush hour was busy but it was not too bad. The server was amazing! He took our orders quick and was very attentive to everything. The appetizers came out fast and so did our lunch. The food is delicious and the lunch portions are more than enough. We really enjoyed my mother birthday lunch and they even allowed us to bring a cake. It was a great experience, the place is nicely decorated, it has plenty of seating inside and outside for a nice day. Would definitely come back.
Ok. This is our second time there. And being that Asian food is my favorite I’vegot to say something.
Both times was on Sunday. Not sure if the place is 70% empty because is Sunday, but I am assuming is because the food wasn’t good at all.
The meats, including the chicken was hard to chew, lacked color and flavor.
I asked for a Ribeye dish and I didn't mind it being medium rare to rare, but I did find it with lots of tendons and hard tissue. It's my first ever bad ribeye. I think it wasn't a ribeye at all. But the price of the dish said otherwise.
The only saving grace of that place is the waitress and the kind Hispanic guy who served the food.
I hate giving bad reviews, but they need to radically improve their food.

Blends of Asian cuisine. Outstand waitstaff.
Overpriced, mediocre food.
The Pho broth was pretty tasteless and boring

Just horrible customer service and the manager was enough worse after messing up my order he did nothing to fix it nor apologize for THERE mistake enough tho I spent $70 for something I trashed! Never going there again a rip off imitation of the real Kim som the cafe management sucks!
Worst food ever. Plus $70 for 2 people.
Live and learn
I simply love it
Consistently good. Friendly staff.
Food has sadly gone downhill. They got rid of the vietnamese eggrolls for some cheap premade disgusting ones. Service is also awful, we were the only ones there and the waitress seemed bothered and uninterested, never checked on us, no refills, nothing.
Ordered delivery. DO NOT get "yellow curry" or shrimp spring rolls! Why is this place still in business?! The yellow curry was neither yellow, nor was it curry. It was lazily chopped huge chunks of low quality ingredients swimming in some kind of pink gelatinous spicy water? The shrimp spring rolls had very smelly and tough pieces of old frozen cheap shrimp. Literally inedible. I got a full refund thru Grubhub and threw away.
Service was, as expected, excellent. Tge food was fresh, hot, and delicious
Not sure why this location decided to change how they make their Vietnamese egg rolls. Egg rolls used to be delicious, been coming to this location since they opened. Now the egg rolls are wrapped in thick wonton type wrap and are disgusting. Not authentic at all.
I tried to call and talk to the manager about what was wrong with my food so that I could have saved them this review but when I called he was very argumentative and unhelpful… The shrimp in my shrimp fried rice had poop in the shrimp still and some even still had shells on them inside of my shrimp fried rice…
Very pricey.
Always delicious
The worst food I’ve had! I ordered vermicelli bowl with chicken and extra viet egg rolls. They put chinese egg rolls! TF is that???? Very deceptive! Never again!

The food is decent most of the time, I just do not appreciate even going in for take out due to how rude the employees are over there. Very dismissive and cold. Even with getting take out I just want to be in and out with how the staff will treat you.
Usually all asian restaurants the waitstaff work as a team to take care of tables. But this restaurant the waitress or waiter have their own individual tables to take care of. But anyways the server Lan is an older Vietnamese woman but yet she can handle when it gets busy. She's nice, really talkative, and show hospitality to her tables. She is basically the ONLY person who care and acknowledge your presence, she dont ignore you. It was awhile back when I last seen her, don't know if she still work there. But I recommend everyone to request for her.
Everything is very bad. Please shout down your cafe. It is ugly.

The staff is always so rude as if im not spending $70 for 3 dishes. I keep giving them chance after chance, thinking maybe they just having a bad day. So for overpriced, inconsistent food and awful service, I'm done.. How can you come from another country and look down on me an American because of my skin color..
Waiteress was not nice
Un lugar muy bueno para visitar, excelente servicio y excelente comida en variedad.
The owners are rude, they treat employees badly and respond badly to customers. Terrible, I had a very bad time.
The server lady name Lan, rude as hell, very impatient, bad attitude. The food was a disgrace, this is probably the worst Chinese food I've ever had, the food is tasteless, bland as hell, I recommend people do not waste your hard earn money on this place. The service is awful
Good place
Food and atmosphere great and you must experience eating
Food was good and the atmosphere was comfortable
The food was good until I found a fingernail almost at the bottom of my BBQ pork fried rice 🤢
Worse of all, I only found it because as I chewed I felt something hard in my mouth and spit it out to discover it 🤮
In this day and age, I’m not sure why an establishment wouldn’t be wearing gloves, but they don’t have to worry about me eating there again.
I was in Houston for a conference and stopped by Kim Son for dinner one night. It was within walking distance from my hotel. I ordered take-out. The service was quick, my order was ready in under 10mins.
I ordered the shrimp spring rolls and shrimp v-bowl. The spring rolls were a nice size and the sauce was a perfect pair. The v-bowl was decently sized as well. I had leftovers, which was my lunch the next day. The v-bowl was good, but I would have liked a little more sauce and should have ordered a small thing of fried rice to add. Those comments aside, the food was delicious and I imagine other entrees on their menu are delicious.
The Orange Chicken was delicious. Great flavor and good portion for one person. The plate comes with Rice. Not enough in my opinion. Prices are Not cheap. Expect to pay more than $20 per plate. Service was good.
I am new to the area so I didn't know if I should call in to order food for pick up right away but this place was so helpful and really really fast. It smells so good inside too. Definitely need to come back and sit down for a meal inside of picking up food and running around.
Great food and friendly staff.
The food was amazing.
I stopped by on Friday evening.
Oh what a surprise 😮.
The sweet and sour chicken with fried rice. I also had white rice.
To my surprise it was the best I've ever had.
I ran in and ordered, never heard of this place but I was pleased.
DEFINITELY DELICIOUS 😋 😍
5 OUT OF 5 🌟 STARS 🌟!
LOVE LOVE I'M GOING TO SAY STOP BY FOR THE BEST I'VE HAD.
I sat at the bar and was able to enjoy tv s all around. The place was lively, the staff was extra friendly. I got my drink and egg rolls first and they were spectacular and hot! The pho came out with veggies and plenty of napkins. I always get sirloin, and the broth was flavorful! My bean sprouts were fresh and the basil was big and green. I slurpped and sipped this bowl of broth, meaft and noodles til it was almost gone. This place ha great food, great customer service and most of all delicious food!
Soft shell crab tasted old and not fit to eat. Special fried rice was far from special. Lackluster flavor & few ingredients.
Food was horrible. Threw most of it out.
Te atienden muy bien
Excellent Chinese meals at average prices.
The food and service were first rate. We always enjoy Kim Son restaurants. But be prepared, this restaurant is located in an upscale part of Houston, and the prices reflect it. So if you want to treat yourself, enjoy a great meal here.
The pho with Chicken Broth. SHrimp & BBQ Pork was not hot enough and tasteless. Will stop going there.
Food was delicious! Service was awesome!
I’m a long-time diner at Kimson and I just ordered the Killer Combo with rice, from Kimson Cafe Memorial, and it was inedible!!! Tasted like someone poured dish soap or some sort of chemical in my food. It was horrid! They did give me a refund for the meal, but I was not satisfied at all with the, “oh well!” attitude from the management when I called. I’ll NEVER order another meal from that place ever again!
Just to expensive!
Food was absolutely delicious! Our server was a delightful woman who made sure that we had everything that we needed.
I am extremely DISAPPOINTED at the amount of protein that was given to me. I placed 2 ordered for pick up. Paid $17 per plate and with tip totaled $40. When I get home I was so shocked to see the minimal smoky of protein that was added to both orders. I basically had an order of rice with a side of meat. I won’t be ordering from here again.
A nice neighborhood restaurant with great food and service. I enjoyed the glazed pork with brown rice.
i was very disappointed coming here. i paid $24 for grilled pork and chicken on white rice and it was terrible. the chicken was dry and the beef looked like it was cooked Sous Vide and the painted grill marks on it. even worse was the red napkins smelled like chemicals and the wait staff wore plastic gloves. they would clean tables with the plastic gloves on and not wash their gloves. the staff was very friendly but they need to work on the food quality and take the gloves off!!
Excellent!
I love Kim Son.
I don't know what type of kim son cafe I have to try this place because I know about the dim sum
If you want the Kim Son experience, visit the downtown location on Jefferson. This one just seemed like any other strip-mall Asian restaurant.
We used to love this restaurant but the last 2 times we have had food delivered it was awful. The food was terrible-fried rice, pad Thai was basically inedible and I threw it away. It didn’t seem fresh and I didn’t want to serve it to my family.
DO NOT DoorDash or UberEats from this place. They do not read instructions. I specifically asked for no cilantro and guess what, cilantro all through the food. Not edible! This is not the first time either but I thought I would try again and obviously nothing changed!
Very salty food wasn't as hot (temp)as I like
Good food and good service
Fried rice was delicious. The lo mein and sweet & sour chicken were not delicious.
Amazing food with a wonderful atmosphere and service. Will definately be going again!
Super delicious!
Kimson Cafe: A Great Place to Get Vietnamese Food
Kimson Cafe is a great place to get Vietnamese food. They have a wide variety of dishes to choose from, but their pho is definitely their best dish. The pho is made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, and it's always cooked to perfection. The broth is rich and flavorful, and the noodles are perfectly cooked.
I've tried a variety of pho dishes at Kimson Cafe, and I've never been disappointed. My favorites are the pho tai (beef pho) and the pho ga (chicken pho). They also have a great vegetarian pho option.
The service at Kimson Cafe is also excellent. The staff is friendly and attentive, and they make sure that your food is served hot and fresh. I would definitely recommend Kimson Cafe to anyone looking for a delicious and authentic Vietnamese meal.
Here are some other things I liked about Kimson Cafe:
The prices are very reasonable.
The portions are generous.
The atmosphere is casual and comfortable.
Here are some things I would change:
The restaurant can be a bit crowded, especially during peak hours.
The wait can be long, especially on weekends.
Overall, I would definitely recommend Kimson Cafe to anyone looking for a delicious and authentic Vietnamese meal.
PS: If you're looking for a great bowl of pho, Kimson Cafe is the place to go!
Ymmy
Always great food.
We usually order the V-bowls with grilled pork. Online it says it costs $9-10. However when you order on phone and pick up the food, it is almost double the list online price. For three V-bowls, it was $50.
The quality used to be excellent with long strips of grilled pork. Today, the grilled pork was in pieces and of very poor quality.
It is a ripoff and will not visit this restaurant again, after going there since they opened about 15-20 years ago in Memorial City.
Food is always great here
Great food and service (at Memorial prices).
Wonderful food
Spring rolls aren't always freshly made. The wrap is gummy. Pork in my v-bowl was slightly burnt. Pan fried dumplings were ok.
Always good. Never had a bad meal. Been coming to their cafe and restaurant for 10 years. Has not failed me once.
We have been coming here for years. Food quality is good, but prices are so high now, it is not worth the money. Sesame chicken for $20+. I don't think the value is here anymore.
Used to be a neighborhood favorite. Prices are way high. Food quality has gone down. Meat had a funny frozen taste. Rice was hard as a rock. After many years of eating here, we will never go back. Owners need to come in and take a look at what’s happening here!
Fried rice and soups are good staples. The chicken entree didn’t taste fresh.
Among favorite places..soup with shrimp amazing
Ordered pickup, didn't check my order completely, my fault. When returned home, not everything was there. Called the restaurant and informed them and they said everything was there. Basically said I was wrong. Everything was correct.
Not a huge deal, I know what I received. But definitely will not return.
There's other options.
Review is for takeout via Uber Eats.
The huge Kim Son in Bellaire is very well known among the Vietnamese community. In my opinion, it's nothing special but a good introduction to Vietnamese cuisine.
Pick-up was ready extremely quickly, within 15 minutes. We ordered two servings of the Hong Kong Beef Noodles and one order of the Vietnamese Wonton Soup.
The Hong Kong Beef Noodles were as expected - well stir-fried with a lot of sauce, not enough beansprouts (we actually add more fresh beansprouts) and moderate amount of beef. It's nothing special but almost always consistent.
The Vietnamese Wonton Soup on the other hand was fantastically bad. Four pieces of wonton and two pieces of boneless spare ribs dunked in something I can best describe as flavored seawater. It was so salty that my mother wanted to go back and return it to the restaurant. Would not recommend.
Have gone twice for a work lunch. Haven't tried anything that I didn't like. they do have a lunch menu, the selection is ample and the portions are pretty big which means the dinner portions are even bigger. It's a small quaint little place definitely worth a try.
There are a lot of other options for real Vietnamese food in Houston and this ain’t one of them.
Price is very high
Protein portion was skimpy
Mountain of noodles to keep things cheap. I’d not recommend
Nice ambiance
Great place, good food, but a buck or so more expensive than it ought to be.
Quick but unfriendly service
This place charges $17+ for a Chinese food lunch special that is mediocre at best. It’s mind blowing that people can afford to eat here. The only good thing is that they have a very wide variety of food here, but the greedy pricing really destroys any good aspects of this place.
Excelente
The food was super tasty and the service was great. Wonderful place for casual dining. My husband got the seafood pho and said that it was worth every penny. I had general tso's chicken and a miso soup. The fried rice could have been better, but went very well with the tso sauce.
Very good. Fresh original Vietnamese dishes plus a few extras. Ask to turn up the spice if you like spicy. They are pretty conservative with the "heat." Prices seem a little high for the food.
Was there about two weeks ago the waitress was duper she was very attentive
Memorial needs more upscale Asian dining. This place is a little pricey for being a casual dining place. They also do a ton of takeout and prepare togo orders fast!!!! They no longer have their sushi bar. They can do Chinese, Thai and of course Vietnamese but you can also ask them for something off-menu and they will usually accommodate as long as it's not something too exotic. They have a nice little outdoor seating area too.
I like the food here, however, this time EVERYTHING was either barely room temperature or just flat out cold. I ordered the chicken & beef combo served over fried rice and on the side they include a portion of steamed green beans & carrots, which were ice cold. Told the Veronica, the waitress, and she was genuine in her apology for unknowingly serving the food cold. I hope Kim Son advises the chef to manage the food temps more closely.
MID. Mediocre at best. Lunch special pepper beef was 17$ and it was mostly onion and bell pepper. The sauce was made with bouillon cubes which weren’t mixed in all the way, so I would get big chunks of just salty bouillon. Overpriced and bland.
Great food. Great service. I had the Vietnamese egg rolls, crispy noodles and Mongolian beef. The egg rolls were the best.
I love Phnom Penh noodle here. Thanks for carrying this delicious dish. Not a lot of place has it :)
Impressive beef satay and hot & sour soup! Delicious Vietnamese egg rolls, too! Economically priced with efficient, accurate delivery. Thank you, Kim Son Cafe!
Was trying to add extra to my order but guy taking it (some guy dressed in nice shirt and slacks) was basically telling me No, you will have enough on your regular order. Who does that!?! 🙄 If I wanna order something extra, I should be able to order something extra! Crazy.
Best Vietnamese food in town. Love their spring rolls, egg rolls, pho, and Singapur muddles. Service is fast and the guys there are always in the best mood.
Great quality food and cheap prices.
Great food, nice place and great service. Increase in prices, last time I went was before Covid, such is life. Great food!
Just to love this place but recently noticed a price increase, the food is almost double the cost it was just months ago...
Been eating here for 8 years now (i work in rice village at premiumgoods). For that 8 years, kim son cafe has delivered amazing customers service and amazing food quality without any flaw.
Esta muy basio el platillo que pedí no tenía casi carnes y la falta condimentos para este tipo de sopas le falta sabor y carnes variedad según pedí el más popular ahora si pido el regular medan pura agua la verdad no pasa para recomendarla
Reliable food and service
As good as it was the first day they opened the doors on Kingsride! The gold standard in Vietnamese dining.
Hit or miss at best. At $20 per plate I need to someplace else.
Great food. Nice variety on the menu. All of the appetizers are great. Many Chinese and Vietnamese style entrees. I've never had a bad meal here, even when ordering takeout. Nice atmosphere and extremely good service. This place is consistently great.
Update: still great food and great service.
The price seems super fair, their portions are great and the service was wonderful! The food was also so delicious, will definitely be going back and suggesting this place to friends! ☺️
This place made me like Korean food again.
Love this place so much!
My wife and I had been talking about this place after she was invited to accompany her clients. She raved about the tilapia plate that she had with streamed rice and what everyone had ordered. We decided to go next day so I could try it out. I know I start out talking about how quickly we are attended to and how the staff is friendly and helpful. Well this was the case here except the waitress that served us knew my wife and they were both talking away like old friends. She was very bright and happy to see her. We ordered after a few minutes and when our food arrived, it really was presented very well. Just some beautiful plates, pics are included with this post by the way. We shared the shrimp spring rolls and the lomein deluxe, I believe that was the name and of course the tilapia. Now I not an expert in Vietnamese cooking or anything close to that but the food was fresh, hot and had a clean taste. No after smell, no after taste. Really great flavor that just left me wanting to keep eating. The noodles were coated in sauce, the vegetables were slightly crunchy and the meat was tender and full of amazing flavor. I told myself to take the first bite and just let that linger for a minute so I get a taste of what I was eating but I never stopped shoving the food in my mouth. I just kepping eating and didn't talk for about 10 minutes. I and come back. It's been a while since I've had food that just leaves me wanting more. Please come by and try this place out. They do have Uber eats and Door Dash available if you rather have delivery. They are open everyday and also have a good wine, sake, beer selection to try. Awesome job guys, see you soon.
A truly hidden gem in the Gessner I-10 corridor. Excellent food and service. A full menu to meet all of your favorites and something different.
Awesome food and the wait staff are great. The provide you with large portions for a decent price. I will make it one of my regular places to dine.
Had take out for dinner from this place and it was delicious! The egg-rolls were so good! I had the orange chicken with white rice and let me tell you, I want to go back for dinner! Great place.
Some of the best hot & sour soup forever! Can not wait for a repeat performance!
First time here. Pho was ok, portions were good but the broth needs more flavor.
Had great lunch service was great.
I have been a customer for a while and the quality of the customer service has demised extremely. Even stating how I and my family want our food explicitly. Ordering online and calling to make sure it’s correct and them still not getting it right purposely. We will never patronize Kim son again.
The spring rolls and pho was delicious and service was excellent.
Great food, Great service, Great price too. All in all it's great.
The food is okay, though not as good as the original location. However, the prices seem inflated. Perhaps due to location? The lunch special woks are around $14 per person and don’t have the usual soup and egg roll accompaniment. I’ll go somewhere else next time.
Great food and speedy service, my Orange chicken was flavorful and portions properly. No complains. Will be back again!
this is my favorite place for Vietnamese food. The egg rolls are addictive wrapped in lettuce and cilantro and dipped in Ginger Sauce. The Black Pepper Crab (soft shell) is my personal favorite with a hard second, Crispy Shrimp. The WonTon soup always tastes so fresh. I've never had a dish here that I didn't love. If you haven't tried Vietnamese food, you don't know what you are missing!
Great food and service.
Really good. Menu of Asian favorites. Across from Memorial City Medical Center.
Stomping my feet good.....QUALITY....VERY, VERY GOOD!! GREAT customer service, food was fresh and hot, nice portions and reasonably priced! Worth every cent!!!
The only thing that beat the excellent service was the excellent food. Jimmy, the general manager, visited the table to check on us and was very gracious.
Decided to try this place for lunch for my mother's birthday lunch and we are so glad we did. They say then down quick, we made reservations just in case lunch rush hour was busy but it was not too bad. The server was amazing! He took our orders quick and was very attentive to everything. The food is bad
All I can say is.... DON'T ASK FOR EXTRA SOY SAUCE! 🙄 Other then that, the shrimp fried rice was pretty good! 😊
Must first mention the tea. They have AMAZING sweet tea! Hit the spot!!
And now for the rest…
Had a group lunch with coworkers. We had the spring rolls to start. Very good, wrapped well and love the peanut dipping sauce!
I ordered the sesame chicken for my entree. The sauce was delicious and the chicken was tender. The fried rice was very fresh with egg and candle corn (always think of the movie, BIG, with Tom Hanks). The large broccoli florets on the side were steamed to perfection.
Service was superb! Seating is cozy with booth options or regular chairs. The patio is covered with nice outdoor seating, if you choose. There’s also a long bar with a television and lots of wine choices. All 6 of us left happy with our lunch and full. Will return to try the bar area and a glass of wine.
$$ - I usually try to give pricing, but this was the boss’s treat, so I don’t have that information for this review.
04/14/22
Just not very good.
Wow...Excellent...Unbelievably Awesome.
I used to frequent the one on Westheimer and EDO. I loved them both. THIS IS BETTER!
