Ocha thai is our go to thai restaurant in Plano. This place serves really tasty thai food in affordable rates. There is plenty of seating, good ambience and great staff. Service was perfect. They gave a complimentary mushroom soup which was good.
For starters, we had their thai herbal chicken which was amazing. Also their wings which was normal.
For the mains, we had their Ocha fried rice which is a combination rice of beef, shrimp and chicken. Also their singapore curry noodles, pineapple fried rice and drunken master.
For desserts, we had their mango sticky rice and fried icecream. Mangoes were really sweet and their sticky rice was as always delicious.
Overall i would highly recommend this place !

A decent place with good ambience and service. The food is good, but some of the dishes taste almost the same - the Yellow Curry and the Massamam. And you may want to order the Thai tea with lesser sugar, if they allow. They definitely have ample seats and the service is fast and good too.

The curry and pad thai here tastes like what I ate in Thailand. And the portion and price is very reasonable enough to eat here on weekdays when I don't want to cook. Went on Sunday for really late lunch. They were not very busy. The menu options were good . We had curried fried rice , crispy chicken and paratha curry. They food was served real quick . All the food item tasted amazing . Really liked the paratha curry . I alasata prefer paratha curry if the Thai restaurant have it in their menu. Perfect flaky parathas with a good portion of curry having tofu and veggies.

Food was good but the service was slow and the staff kept forgetting our our side order. I understand it's hard to handle peak hours but that was late in the night. Around 9.45pm. The were in a hurry to set things for closing. We waited 10 minutes for someone and after ordering sides and getting we waited 5 more min to get our orders the way we requested and again we waited 5 minutes for the person to come back. All we requested was extra basil and sprouts for the soup. It took 15 minutes.

Ordered steamed dumplings and crispy pad Thai. The portions were very small for the price. It was expensive for food that was just ok. The crispy pad Thai was not as described, instead of noodles it was the wonton strips; we were expecting noodles plus the wonton strips. Disappointing all around.

I've been here a number of times, and each time is even more amazing—the cuisine is truly fantastic, and the service is excellent.

I am not sure where to start. Let me begin by saying we walked out before being seated. The two ladies who were a part of the wait staff in the restaurant said they were too busy to attend. They asked us to pick up the menu from the bar counter and seat wherever we chose. We did not find any suitable table for a party of 4 to sit. We asked if they could get the booth cleaned, which was vacant but full of soiled plates and spilled food. They said they would not as they were busy. We were scared , if they would ask us to go to the kitchen and cook for ourselves. It was a poor experience.

Ordered togo and even the service I got was exceptional. The lady at the register was very helpful in answering questions I had on some of the dishes. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. I chose spice level at 4 out of 5 which for me was perfect. I would definitely go back.

Always delicious and always fresh, I have had several items from their menu and all were exceptional. Curries and Thai entrees have all been spicy and authentic, as have been their spring rolls. I highly recommend this hidden gem right off Hwy 121 in the Colony.

Worst customer service I have ever come across, we order noodles and when we got our order it was under cooked, So we told our server the same and the lady ‘Hugo Mejia’ was like “Have you ever eaten at this place” such an arrogant lady. No respect to the customers. When the owner was called upon he never felt to apologize for the food but in return was saying they had many orders to fill and blaming us that we ordered the food late.

2. Food is below average, would not recommend to any human.

I am really picky when it comes to Thai food as true Thai food is some of my favorite. I personally love heat and know Thai restaurants are some of the few who KNOW heat. So I ordered down on heat while trying a new location. Well theirs is mild BUT they have a spice tray you can request to easily adjust the heat in your dish. I wish more Thai places did this plus the food was delicious.

I just moved here three weeks ago and stopped here from just a google search, as I wanted Thai food. Boy did I not miss! The food is fresh and service is excellent. I had the seaweed salad, crab fried rice, and mango sticky rice! Hands down delicious!!!! The flavor! I will be back again and again.
****UPDATE Came back a second time and it was a NO! I am so disappointed because my first review and 1st time was so good! I ordered the veggie basil with white rice, you can pick a protein, but I chose just veggies it came with some veggies like bellpepper and baby corn, but I expected since I had no protein, it would come with more veggies as it is an option for this dish. Not only was my food room temp, but there was no additional veggies outside of bell pepper, basil, baby corn and a slice of carrots and a few pieces of mushroom. I also ordered seaweed salad as I did the last time and it was lukewarm and runny. How and why is seaweed salad luke warm and runny. It is a no for me. I can not stand a inconsistent restaurant when it comes to making food. stay consistent if you want consistent customers.

I’m going give you all grace cause I love your food, but I do want to call out the bad customer service I received tonight. We called around 9:15PM to place an order for pickup per usual. They answered the phone, put us on hold for 5 minutes making it impossible to order in a timely manner. So we hung up to call back and they had both phones were off the hook. It’s 10:00PM as I’m submitting this review.

I don't have to eat halal but I was excited when I heard this place was halal. Every single Thai place I've eaten at that is halal has amazing food. The atmosphere service and food is amazing. If you like Thai food don't miss out on this place.

This is about customer service ONLY!
We ordered our food from Favor. We were not able to add or make edits on the app. Therefore, we called the restaurant, a nice young lady answered, she wrote down our changes (literally just no bean sprout and extra egg on ONE dish), name, and phone number and said she could make the changes and would call us back. She also said we would have to pay for the extra egg to which we said was not an issue but to please do it through Favor. The young lady called us back stating the order was put through, but she hadn’t made the changes so we would have to pay over the phone since the driver had already swiped the card and paid. This was exactly why we had called earlier to avoid paying over the phone since we are NOT comfortable giving our credit card information over the phone. She argued with us and did not take accountability over her mistake which was not adding the charges before hand and wanted to force us to pay over the phone. At this point I asked to speak with her manager to which he then said he spoke with the owner and that they could not make the changes without payment from over the phone. Beyond disappointing customer service. The customer is not always right but your employee’s mistake was not my doing. If a customer is asking you to do something do not say you can do it then don’t. Terrible management.

tl;dr. this place is wack, the service sucks and the food is way below any normal persons standard

my recent gastronomic expedition can only be characterized as a woeful misadventure. The service, to be frank, was a disservice—marked by a staggering lack of attentiveness that drove a nearby couple to premature departure following an interminable 40-minute wait for even the most cursory acknowledgment of their presence. As for the culinary offerings, they were nothing short of a culinary affront; the Panang curry lacked depth and nuance, while the scant offering of Mongolian beef was a veritable travesty, presented as it was atop an incongruous mound of coleslaw. I can, with all sincerity, assert that unless one harbors a perverse desire to subject their taste buds to the most lackluster and uninspired fare imaginable, a visit to this establishment should be summarily avoided.

My family and friends recently dined at Ocha Thai in The Colony, Texas. While the overall experience had its positives, there were areas that could be improved.

We started with the dumplings, which were tasty, but the portion size of four was smaller than expected – other Thai places usually offer six. In comparison, Simply Thai's dumplings were preferred for their better texture.

The papaya salad was decent but lacked that special touch to make it memorable. The Tom Kha Gai soup, ordered at spice level 3, was good and hot. However, I would recommend going for spice level 4 for those who enjoy a bit more kick.

The Ocha Thai fried rice was satisfactory, though it didn't stand out as exceptional. The Thai tea, while not bad, missed that distinctive Thai tea flavor.

It's worth mentioning that everything served at Ocha Thai is halal.

Service, unfortunately, fell short of expectations. While functional, the lack of warmth and smiles made us feel more like a burden than valued guests. Some training or improvements in service etiquette would go a long way.

In conclusion, I recommend trying Ocha Thai for its decent food. However, there's room for improvement in various aspects, including service, to elevate the overall dining experience.

This was AMAZING!!! My family and I stopped after a hike nearby and this food was outstanding. Full of flavor! I got yellow curry, my husband got pineapple curry and my son got the pad Thai. We all shared and everything was amazing. The yellow curry was my favorite! The owner was so kind and friendly as well!

Edit: we have been back many times since this and still love it. We will drive farther to get this authentic Thai food. Their best is the curries and pad Thai. Most poor reviews are people getting the tofu meals😄 Well yeah, get something flavorful and you’ll enjoy!

Wow wow wow, the taste and flavor profile is incredible. Food tastes like someone in the kitchen actually knows how to cook and they care.

Food is good but we went in to dine in one night 45 minutes before they close and one of the workers were being passive aggressive tone about us coming in and said “YOU HAVE 10 MINUTES TO ORDER” with a bad attitude. My husband and I were kinda shocked and we ordered in such a rush I even got the wrong dish. Really unwelcoming behavior. Not the way to talk to customers. I would never wanna go back there just for that night.

This time I ordered for pick up I called before I placed the order to see what the wait time was, I was told 15 minutes. I completed my order at 3:20 pm and I’m currently sitting inside the restaurant waiting, because they’re still “working on it” 😒

We have been to this restaurant lot of times in the past but haven't been there as we moved away from the area. We drove over an hour to revisit this place yesterday for its authentic Thai taste. We had a terrible experience with the service. To make the matters worse, the seating is a nightmare. Not sure if the restaurant's policy has changed about seating but more than 60% of the tables were labelled "reserved" yet, no one turned up to be seated in those tables. With all the bitter experience, didn't get to enjoy the food at all hence, giving it a 3 star.

If you're planing to dine in, go there just to enjoy the food but don't expect any "service". Also, you would have to plead for cutlery. We're utterly disappointed in our visit and won't be making this mistake twice.

Thai tea full of ice, barely any drink in my Togo cup.

Review for 10/28/2023

Stopped by dinner on friday evening with my family. We were seated right away. Ordered Herbal Chicken fried rice spice level 4, Drunken Master noodles spice level 4 and Pad ke mao non spicy for kids to share as they do not have kids menu!

It took them atleast 15-20mins to serve food to our table. Fried rice and noodles were very bland, spice level around 2. Kids noodles were good!

We asked for spicey oil for additional heat, but the lady who took the order was gone and did not even show up. She came up after a bit and realized she did not bring us the spicey oil. She then vanished again and stood by the bar and ignored our request. People sitting next to us requested for the same and they were kept waiting as well.

We had to ask another waitress for it and she was very quick to get us the spicey oil.

Extremely disappointed with food and service, it is not acceptable. I am not going back again!

Went back after 4 years with friends, we were seated promptly, there seemed to be just one wait staff catering to everyone, so it seemed a bit slow.

We ordered corn fritters and tofu satay, they were just okay.

For the entrees we got red snapper fish, parata and curry, curry fried rice, pad kee mow and tom yum soup, it was all delicious.

Took away one star for the appetizer. The thai tea was good.

Will definitely recommend this place.

Great customer service! Kind and patient. We had their yellow curry and orange chicken AND food was bussin 💯 already recommended it to a couple a friends 👌🏽

Thai Crab fried rice is the best there.

Had dinner here with a couple of girlfriends. We all enjoyed sharing various dishes such as chicken pineapple curry, Tom Yum soup with tofu, papaya salad, garlic tofu with broccoli, and a couple other dishes. Everything was very tasty and fresh. We will all be coming back with our hubbies. 😋 One thing to note, is no alcohol beverages are available on the menu and I’m not sure if it’s BYOB.

Lunch set was value for money. Medium spicy was just the right amount of spiciness for me.

Visited with 5 members friends. All the items we ordered were so tasty. Background music and atmosphere inside restaurant is pleasant. Service was quick.

Amazing Food, the first best Thai food I ever had, also to mention the service is the tops.
