Relaxed Thai choice serving curries, noodles & other classic fare in a lofty space with a warm vibe.
We tried this place in the corner in downtown and we’re really impressed by the restaurant itself with high ceiling and a really lively atmosphere inside the servers were great and extremely attentive. We ordered soup appetiser and entree specifically we got the Tom Yum soup the fried calamari for an appetiser and drunken noodles for a entente. The food was okay. Feel that we’ve had better Thai overall and I would rate this place as average and may try it out again in the future, but definitely not a go to for me at this point.
Awesome little spot in the heart of downtown Houston. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is quaint and cozy. You’ll be especially lucky if you have Jay as your server. He’s kind, attentive, and makes the dining experience feel like eating with family. I couldn’t recommend it more.
The only thing better than the food here was the service from our server, Jay! Wow. He was attentive and respectful and knew just what we needed when we needed it. The atmosphere is so chill and relaxing. Had a bottle of wine and savored the incredible flavors of the fried scallops and chicken pad Thai. What a hidden gem. All of the stars for Jay and Thai Cafe!
Wow. Just simply wow. Picked the restaurant based on the reviews and it did not disappoint. Jay was our server and it was 5 star service for sure from the ice bucket for our wine to keeping our glasses full he was excellent. And the food was great. I highly recommend eating here and can't wait to come back.
Ordered take-out and food was mediocre. So many other thai restaurants that taste a lot better.
I had a very pleasant experience sitting at the bar. Very nice service. Good food, good vibe.
The server was so kind and helpful! The food was absolutely great, loved the pork pad Thai and the crispy chicken fried rice!
Amazing food and great vibes! The dumpling curry, top tier!
The food and service was great. Would always recommend.
Great service. Amazing food. Nice portions
The food here was fantastic! Some of the best tom yum I’ve had in Houston. Our server, Jay was very nice and did a great job. Definitely coming back!
Amazing food! Jay is an amazing server and made our experience very enjoyable.
Awesome service green location!!
The hot chocolate was really good and the overall ambience of the place is really nice. Would definitely recommend coming here for a short break

Service was amazing, especially Jay. He was very attentive. Will be coming back!
The food was excellent, with a spicy chicken pad Thai that was delicious enough and such a huge portion that I was stuffed and was happy to take the other half home!
Our server, Jay, was very prompt with his service and regular with asking us if we needed anything. He noticed our cameras and took a minute to discuss with us how we enjoyed taking pictures around downtown Houston. He was very amiable and requested that we return soon and to not be a stranger! A very pleasant dining experience all around.

Great service! Jay was very friendly and attentive, and this visit kept up our pleasant mood. Quite a treat!
Great food and very attentive staff
Friendly.
Thai food here is excellent.
Will come back again. Great mango sticky rice, pad see ew, and pineapple fried rice. Everything made the way it should be.
The restaurant had a warm atmosphere and delicious food, making for a delightful dining experience. The attentive service added to the overall enjoyment!
If you're looking for a delightful dining experience in downtown Houston, I highly recommend visiting a charming Thai cafe that truly captures the essence of Thai cuisine. As you step inside, you're greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere, adorned with vibrant decor that reflects the rich culture of Thailand.
The menu offers a wide array of authentic dishes, from fragrant Pad Thai to spicy green curry, all prepared with fresh ingredients and traditional recipes. One standout dish is their Tom Yum soup, which perfectly balances the flavors of lemongrass, lime, and chili, making it a must-try for any spice lover.
The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring that every guest feels welcome and well taken care of. Whether you're there for a quick lunch or a leisurely dinner, this cafe provides a lovely escape, making it a perfect spot to enjoy a delicious meal with friends or family. Overall, it's a delightful gem in downtown Houston that you won't want to miss!
Excellent service, we were attended by Jay a very nice person, I will recommend these places it's excellent 👌

Wow. What a gem. I was in town on business craving some Thai food downtown when I happened upon Thai Cafe. Not only is it a spacious and well appointed restaurant, the service was fast and the portions MASSIVE. I ordered the chicken pad Thai and I was not prepared for the side of the dish. It was a pleasant surprise, as was the taste. Very flavorful with noodles cooked to the right consistency. Finally, the service was excellent and friendly. I was served by a gentleman named Jay who was very attentive and kind. Will be coming back here again!
We had the chicken satay and pad Thai. Both were excellent.
Food not great. Delivery was incorrect and they could care less. Pad Thai was left off the order and the manager said it was “too difficult to get in the bag” so they just left it out. What a joke.
Very professional and really good Thai tea
I came in and I had no ideas on what to get, and the staff was so friendly and helpful to help me through the menu.
best Thai tea ever 🤩🙌 Service is always amazing!!!!
Great salmon curry
If you ever want authentic Thai food, go somewhere else. This place is dreadful. No person who has ever eaten proper Thai food before would think this place is good.
Very delicious food and good service. I’ve been multiple times and the quality of foos is always very good!
The service there is amazing apart from there being one waiter, he was very nice 🙂
My boyfriend ordered the Pad Kee Mao and I ordered the chicken Green Curry and oh my goodness- they were both packed with flavor and each bite was as if it was the first one!
The curry was sweet, spicy, savory all in one, the perfect combination they make it very well 🍛
The Pad Kee Mao is what my boyfriend ordered - super flavorful, noodles were cooked to perfection & the spice level ordered was just what he needed (Thai spicy level) 🌶️🥵
Last but not least, we ordered the Sweet Mango Sticky Rice for dessert and I could not get over how sweet that mango was. The rice was sticky and sweet just as promised 😉 not sure if it’s condensed milk or coconut milk but it’s the perfect touch to the mango.
I was surprised that there were only a few people dining in - it is so relaxing and quiet in this establishment 🧘🏽♀️
Don’t sleep on this place! It’s so worth it!
I will be back 😎
Love the service, food options, pricing and portions. Location is convenient. Our server was extremely professional and polite during service forgot to ask his name but he was awesome. Food tastes great too. Service was quick as well. Could be your go-to Thai place in downtown Houston. Give it a try.
Excellent food and great service consistently. I recommend the crab fried rice.
Had the fried Tofo, healthy fried rice with salmon and prik king (Thai hot-SO good!) wish I had had room for the sticky mango rice, next time!
Everything was fresh, hot and super flavorful. Service attentive and very nice. So happy to have found this place!
Food was excellent. I ordered the tofu pad thai and edamame. The pad thai I ordered was cooked well, and was thai hot. Sometimes places do not spice things appropriately when ordered spicy, but they delivered! I wish the restaurant was a little cooler, but it was not overly hot in the building. Jay was our server. He was attentive and punctual, while also being extremely friendly. Happy Birthday, Jay!
Server Jay is the nicest and the food was super good especially the green thai tea.
I visited on a Sunday afternoon and had the yellow curry with tofu. It was incredibly tasty and creamy—definitely one of my favorite curry dishes in Houston. The service was excellent, thanks to my waiter Jay, who was attentive and made the experience even better. Definitely coming back!
In town for the weekend, decided to get this place for take-out. One of the immediate notes is that parking is bad. The staff seemed friendly though, and the overall look inside the restaurant looked nice.
Food wise, we got a chicken Pad Thai and a pineapple fried rice. We didn't care a lot for the pad thai, and the fried rice wasn't bad. They both didn't have much flavor.
We paid 35 dollars for only the 2 meals, and neither was a huge amount for paying like 17 bucks for each. Neither had the quality or quantity amount to justify the cost.
This restaurant is not worth coming back to, IMO.
Love the place. The food is authentic!!!
Delicious food and great service. My favorite dish is the Pad Thai Cafe.
I popped in real quickly for a serving of mango sticky rice as it had been a craving of mine for several weeks at this point.
The service was succinct and he got to me within no time despite there only being one staff member working the night I had come in.
The vibe of the place was impeccable and the little fish were funny to look at too.
When they said 10 minutes here they very clearly meant it because it was exactly 10 minutes.
I had gotten the Thai tea and the Thai green tea and I do very much recommend both!
The Thai green tea has a bit of a minty after taste though, still absolutely delicious.
Thai Cafe is my go-to spot for Thai food in Houston. The green curry was rich and creamy, with just the right amount of spice. The portions were generous, and the service was fast and welcoming.
Food was amazing and Jay was very courteous and helpful.
Jay was super kind!
Very kind staff
I found a Houston hidden 💎! If you have not eaten here YOU ARE PLAYING YOURSELF!!! Absolutely amazingly delicious!!! I had the soft roll, fried tofu, Pad Thai with tofu and the mango sticky rice. First, I love flavor and they have it! The texture of the fired tofu was that of the best fired chicken ever! It was seasoned light which complimented the sauce divinely. It reappeared in my pad Thai with held up to the sauce! The plating here was well thought out even thought the food is affordable! Service was phenomenal and EVERYTHING I had was made to order. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for being a great restaurant and value your menu and how you service your guest!
Great little place in downtown Houston. The space was clean and comfortable. We were greeted and seated promptly, and the order for our drinks was placed once we were seated. Questions about the menu were easily answered. The foods were served in a timely manner and well presented. Everything was very tasty!
Solid Thai restaurant, one of my favorites in Houston.
Muy rico todo !! Excelente servicio ❤️
Great food and customer service!!
Great Thai food! Will be back
Great spot near the courthouse! I highly recommend it. Very reasonably priced, too!
Great place for Thai food at downtown!
The atmosphere here is welcoming and open the service is quick and friendly and the food is 5 out of 5.
Da Best…
I feel the food was okay but extremely expensive compared to other Thai places with the same menu option.
The Orange chicken I ordered last few times was not to the usual quality. Chicken was not hot and was overcooked and tough like a chicken jerky. I typically order arrive and wait for my meal to be compleyed. So there mo way my order sits for any amout of tome befor i eat it so a long pick up time isn't the issue. I gave them 3 stars off the fact that this dish for years has been a home run for me every time I ordered it in the past, but not so much recently.
I could say that this is the best Thai restaurant in the area of Houston Downtown, TX, with quality and quantity of food. Moreover, there is very good test of authentic Thai food as well. Literally recommended.
Recommended menu:
- Chicken Satay
- Tom Kha Chicken
- Tom Yum Shrimp
- Pacific Volcano (noodle in a kind of Tom Yum soup)
- Pineapple Duck Curry
- Crab Fried Rice
And - Thai Green tea
And also they have also beautiful interior decoration with Thai and Christmas stuffs.
Today I have dinner in here. The Pad Thai noodle is wrong, they must use the right type of noodles. But the taste is good compared to others restaurants in America. However, the waiter chased us to ask for tips. (?) As an Asian, I just pay for the food I ordered and we don’t have to pay anything else for the waiter because they bring us the food and keep asking “You okay?” for tips. The waiter keeps saying like he doesnt earn any money because we don’t tip. In Asia, we have exceptional service but they don’t do that for tips, they do that because the standard is high and they are trained to treat customers as a king because customers come to their restaurant. Tip is optional but in here they acted like I have to do that. Nothing exceptional, our standard is high, so I don’t tip. Please training your employees well. The employers should pay them, not me.
A nice, peaceful atmosphere to eat exceptional Thai food. I had the Pad Kee Mao noodles with beef which tasted great. The service was polite and very quick to bring out food. A great restaurant!
This place was wonderful! Great food, attentive and kind staff, and it’s beautifully decorated. Will definitely come back again.
Great food great service best thai food in Houston. Recommended
I came here for dinner and from the start it was exceptional service. Our waiter was Jay and he made us feel like our business truly matter. He was attentive, kind, and very helpful. The food was great and you could tell everything was made with fresh ingredients. My husband is in a wheelchair and the tables were a great height. There was a slight ledge to get in and Jay actually got hands on and helped him into and out of the restaurant. This is the type of business that you should go out of your way to support. I will definitely be coming back!
Love the feel of this restaurant. I make it a regular stop when in the downtown area.
This place has THE BEST curry in all of Houston! Came in for a quick bite and ordered the Salmon with curry and garlic rice. It was unforgettably the best tasting curry I’ve had. There was green beans, peas and carrots in the curry and it was topped off with the salmon. Garlic rice was so flavorful and complimented the entrée. We also tried the cheese puffs and they were perfectly crisp. Didn’t get to try anything else, but those two dishes were perfection and enough for me to confidently say that this is THE THAI CAFE you need to have, in the heart of Houston. Our server was attentive, kind and on top of everything! Don’t pass this place up!
Worst! Had the green salmon curry . They have put lot of turmeric . Not going again and suggesting everyone to avoid.
My friends and I had an exceptional dining experience at Thai Cafe last night, and it truly exceeded our expectations in every way. From the moment we stepped in, the beautiful ambiance and welcoming staff set the tone for a remarkable evening.
The restaurant not only showcased a gorgeous and inviting atmosphere but also an extensive menu of authentic Thai cuisine. Each dish (and appetizer!) we ordered was a culinary masterpiece bursting with vibrant flavors and exquisite presentation. The Pad Thai was a definite highlight, my favorite of the night.
What truly stood out was the impeccable service we received. The staff went above and beyond, catering to our every need with attentiveness and genuine hospitality. They were knowledgeable about the menu, accommodating to dietary preferences, and offered insightful recommendations.
Our time at Thai Cafe was nothing short of fantastic. It was a delightful culinary journey. I cannot wait to return as soon as possible. Contented smiles, full bellies, and memories of an evening filled with excellent food and impeccable service. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a truly exceptional Thai dining experience. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
First time visited this place, food was really good.
GREAT spot for delicious Thai food and beverages, wonderful service, and awesome atmosphere. One of my favorite things is that their protein options include SCALLOPS, which are fantastic in a curry and rarely offered in my experience. The lunch special includes a yummy salad, egg roll, and a REALLY good soup that is a must try! Highly suggest any of their curries and dining in provides a really lovely ambiance. If you’re near downtown Houston, highly recommend you give Thai Cafe a try!! ♥️
Not impressed at all. Tom Kha soup was watery and bland, with excessive amount of onions, it was literally the only vegetable ingredient except for a few mushrooms. Tofu and shrimp tempura were below any standards.
Food was great! Definitely worth the price paid. I notified the waitress it was my first time, and was guided through the menue efficiently and quick. Definitely a nice spot to have lunch!
Very pretty decor and the food was great, be warned that "hot" is very spicy!
A great choice if you're in the Downtown Houston area and wanting Thai. The menu had a wide variety of food and a good selection of drinks. Service was great as the waiter recommended a few of his house specials and was very nice.
Thai Cafe had a good selection of appetizers, we ordered the cheese puffs but would've liked for them to be crispier. The egg rolls and the chicken gyoza were amazing. The tofu pad kee mao was perfectly cooked-the glass noodles were amazing and I loved the way the tofu was prepared. The orange chicken was accompanied with white rice. The chicken was moist and delicious and the orange sauce tasted authentic and fresh.
The atmosphere was peaceful and lovely but the random Santa Claus figures threw us off since they were oddly placed in the middle of summer on the back wall.
Looking forward to dining here again!
Ordered VEGGIE drunken noodles last night and i received chicken in the noodles. I’m a vegetarian and haven’t eaten chicken in almost 5 years. Came back today and told them my order had chicken in it, so they remade it, I drive all the way to Pearland open my food and there was chicken in it AGAIN! I’m sorry but I’m not wasting my time coming back to this place again.
One of The Best Pad Thai in Houston, ask for Dan.
The food, service and atmosphere make this place worth visiting regularly! It's quaint and never a disappointment!
Under new management came with a fresh new decor. Set in a historic downtown building. Most tenants are attorneys. All dishes authentically prepared. I ordered the most popular dish, salmon bowl, according to manager Dan. Very flavorful & great presentation! Will be back for dinner soon. Great date night spot!
This little cafe is so delicious. The staff/family is super nice and the portions are large. We go at least twice a month. Plan on your meal having leftovers.
Thai food is probably the best food in the world but this restaurant made it even better
Not just the atmosphere which was very refreshing, the food was fabulous. Had ordered pad thai with tofu and fried rice. Both were superb. Rice was not as good as pad thai but was better than what I tried earlier.
One star less just for the quantity as for the price, the quantity was very very less. $17 for a small quantity of fried rice seems way overpriced to me.
Pad Thai delicious.
This was an absolute hidden gem. I'm always downtown and have never actually seen this place, I pass it all the time! Glad I got to try it because everything about it was wonderful. Our server was super nice and attentive. The place was clean and elegant and had so much character. The food was delicious and fresh with hearty portions. I'd love to come back and explore more of their menu. I'm interested to try the boba drinks or mango sticky rice dessert next time. This is also a great date spot because it's quaint and quiet - no loud noises and nice ambiance.
Yummy yummy come here and eat the food
The Tom Yum soup was excellent!
The staff is very polite and the atmosphere good. The food is very low grade though with no flavor so far and a low product quality…very basic. Even no fresh basil in a green curry…They should have a better chef there. Overrated
I always forget this little gem of a cafe is hiding off franklin street. Everything on the menu is amazing, the flavors are so bold and wonderful, i loooove the panang curry, but the salmon curry is also another good one too.
In fact, the sign outside stating they had salmon curry is what drew us in.
Take some time and stop for a meal here! it's worth it!
Flavourful food.
Awesome Thai place to eat in Houston. The curry was packed with flavor to go along with the Thai coffee. Pak our waiter was super friendly and welcoming and made the meal even better. Love IT
Great service and tasty Thai food. We had a selection from the lunch menu. Medium and one Thai HOT! All good. The waiter was very polite and service was fast.
I don’t normally write reviews but the atmosphere, service, and food was outstanding. Our server Dan was so sweet and very attentive. It really felt like we’d been invited into his home. Everyone’s dinner was delicious (we got sprich garlic shrimp, cashew chicken, pad Thai, and pineapple fried rice). Very fairly priced and nicely decorated. 10/10 would highly recommend! Will definitely come back next time I’m in Houston.
I would recommend this place if you are looking for good thai food in downtown Houston. The server was friendly, food came out quick. I recommend the cheese puffs, very light and delicious. $22 for a small bowl of beef curry seemed a little on the expensive side but the flavors were there. The cafe is small and has a cozy elegant feel to it, yet very casual and welcoming.
First and foremost, the location of this restaurant is truly remarkable. Situated in the midst of the bustling downtown area, it manages to provide a peaceful and serene escape from the city's hustle and bustle. The moment I entered, I was greeted by a soothing atmosphere, with tasteful decor and soft lighting that added to the overall ambiance.
The service at this restaurant is nothing short of excellent. The staff members were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. They went above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was exceptional, providing recommendations and accommodating any dietary preferences or allergies. Their genuine warmth and professionalism added an extra layer of enjoyment to the evening.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show—the Thai cuisine. Every dish that graced my table was a masterpiece of flavors. From the aromatic curries to the perfectly balanced stir-fries, each dish showcased the authentic and vibrant flavors of Thai cuisine. The ingredients were fresh, and the presentation was impeccable. Whether you're a fan of spicy delights or prefer milder flavors, this restaurant offers a wide range of options to suit every palate.
I took my client there, it was a great experience. The food is authentic thai, the services great. I recommend for you to order Thai boat noodle.
Very good
excellent food I recommend.
My favorite spot ! Enjoyed good food, great service, and was treated with kindness.
definitely overcharging for the portions and taste not good, paid $12 for 2 thai tea and it’s utterly disgusting. super disappointed in how expensive it was and wasn’t even good :( $68 down the drain
Ordered through Uber Eats pretty late in the evening (green curry and pad c ew noodle). Ordered no spice and the curry came with a level 2 at least - it also seemed runny/thin but otherwise an ok flavor. The pad c ew had a funny (fishy?) taste and the noodles were over cooked. I wouldn’t recommend.
Service was good, prices are reasonable. Brought two friends to the place based on reviews. Chicken Pad Thai no good, store bought sauce tastes better and noodles were undercooked.
Left overs brought home and eventually discarded.
We enjoyed our dinner here. We got the panang curry beef and Thai fried rice with chicken. Both were delicious! We had plenty leftover to take home. Good price for the amount of food you get.
Had a great authentic dinner on Saturday night. Definately a local favorite as there were non-stop pick-up orders. Service was wonderful as well.
* Just FYI it's BYOB.*
Hopped in to grab a pad thai, service and food were both great.
Amazing food and service. Very beautiful location!
Omg love this place. Tom Yum soup...amazing! Red Curry Shrimp is also amazing. The service here is really good.
Great restaurant with Thai foods. I love pad Thai and yellow curry.
Really good food! Ordered the pad that and it was amazing, big portion and very tasty.
Ate dinner here on a Saturday night. Ambiance (4)is fine. But the food (2) was disappointing. I had the shrimp panang —flavor profile all one note with no feeling of freshness. Chewy green bean and a few plain looking shrimp. Price of $25 ($30 with tip) is no bargain. Average rating: 3
The BEST Thai in town.
Salmon Curry 8 out of 5.
Coming back to town for this.
Great service, food and atmosphere
so kind, the food was very good and we will come back :) we tried the spicy garlic butter shrimp noodles and finished it in five minutes but the other foods looked good as well (had a pictorial menu)
I been here couple time
The Salmon Curry was the best curry that i ever have if you’re “Curry lover” this is the must!
And another thing that i like is CrabMeat Fried rice.
For the Pasta dish is good also.
Come try the place you never disappoint. Definitely come back.
Ps. And also the green and thai tea can’t pick which one better love them all
Best Thai food in town with high quality service, will definitely revisit again! THE BEST😍
Fantastic! The duck curry had an impressive amount of duck, we had gyoza, and of course mango sticky rice. It was all delicious and the guy server we had was very very nice
Food was all very good. One of our party had a gluten allergy. Our server was pretty knowledgeable about which dishes were safe, and was able to quickly confirm with the kitchen. The kitchen was able adapt the larb to accommodate the allergy, but not the (crab) fried rice.
Solid spot for Thai food.
The coffee was very good. It’s incredible how milk changes the taste. For a full experience, be sure to try it without milk first and slowly add the milk if you decide you want.
The food dishes were very tasty and I was fully satisfied. Enjoyed the quick lunch and will come back here for takeout /if in the neighborhood in the future.
Loved this place. Had a reservation for six, and they were great at setting that up and communicating throughout. Cute intimate spot. Great food. All six of the guests loved the food! The garlic butter shrimp pasta was delicious. Food had great flavor and the place had great customer service. Would recommend.
Very good service. Our server, Pak was very attentive. Top notch food and service!
Beautiful, stylish place! nice staff, friendly and attentive! Had a great time, everyone enjoyed it!
We love Thai food and this is definitely on the top of my list. First time here came in for a late dinner. Parking was lite considering the time. I'm sure during peek hours parking would be a challenge. Other then that the service was great. Will recommend this restaurant if your seeking for some Thai food. Our plates were delicious.
I wanted to really like this place. We rarely come downtown and saw the overall ratings and thought this would be good a good place to try. The staff was very nice and the iced tea was great. The decor is very cool. Then it went down from there.
-chicken goyza was overdone
-egg rolls were also overdone
-Cashew chicken lacked flavor. Even with medium spice. Vegetables were not fresh and also overcooked
-Pad Thai lacked flavor and vegetables not fresh
My wife and I fought over the bathroom for the next 8 hours after returning home. 😢
Again the staff was very nice and because of that we may try again but will wait a while before returning.
