Warm, informal restaurant serving traditional Thai cuisine & a sushi selection for lunch & dinner.
I really love this place but this has happened multiple times. When I put in special request for something not to be Styrofoam, they always put it in Styrofoam anyways. One reason I don't want it in Styrofoam is because when the hot fried food hits the Styrofoam it melts the Styrofoam. Which 1 does make the food taste like Styrofoam but also makes feel like I'm ingesting micro plastics which is not good for me either.
Coming from Asia, I tempered my expectations when visiting but was pleasantly surprised by the service and food at this place. My family ordered the chicken fried rice (chicken a little overcooked), red curry chicken, and lunch special (yellow curry). The portions were generous and the flavor was good. Our waiter was attentive and helpful. Clean bathrooms. Would definitely go back!
We had not eaten here in years. Food was very good though they were out of 3 things we ordered... and in my sweet potato tempura roll the sweet potato was so raw it was crunchy of of that rather than the fact it was tempura fried... server was good and atmosphere was too cold and kind of blah...
Very tasty authentic Thai food. The boxed lunch is a big tray like an airplane diner box but much nicer. It is around $15 and includes a small salad, a couple of sushi rolls, and soup. It's definitely a light lunch, but a salubrious one.
Ordered the scallops and sushi. The sushi was outstanding, hence the 3 stars because the scallops were actually 4 scallops buried under a heaping pile of bell peppers that overpowered the taste of everything. No mention on the menu of bell peppers in this dish. I despise them and was stunned to see a dish packed full of them. I picked around them the best I could, ate then went to McDonald's because I was still hungry. For a $26 dish I expected it to be what the menu says.
The restaurant was freezing cold and lacked anything similar to ambiance. The tables are fairly packed together at not particularly a great date night kinda place.
The sushi was fresh, artfully presented, and excellent. I will only get sushi there if I return, but it is definitely WORTH going there for sushi (though some rolls were $20 for 8 pieces...ouch).
Please include proper descriptions on the menu. Bell peppers are overwhelming in taste and seem to be on many of the entrees. Yuck.
Service was excellent and a nice quiet atmosphere. Stopped in for lunch and the specials were priced fairly and I'd say worth a stop for your own impressions.
I wasn't very impressed with the meal, but it arrived quickly and as I said, services were quick and the restaurant was very clean and pleasant.
The curry and the miso was rather thin and underwhelming for my personal taste. The rice was good, the sobe noodles seemed overcooked and the pork in all our dishes was tough and seemed precooked and not seasoned. The sushi roll was thin and I really don't want to critique it unless I try a full order.
Portion size was large for the cost so another plus. I personally think better options are available.

This is a little hidden gem in Maryville. Such fresh food. Very clean. The portions aren't huge but the quality is great and the prices are very modest.
Elegant dining room and was service great. Chicken fried rice with sweet onion was perfect to my taste buds.
Good Asian food Reasonably priced.
The Sushi 🍣 is what we had and it satisfied the appetite. I would go again especially for the good service.
Fantastic curry and sushi. I would recommend highly for date night.

I've been coming here for 19 years. I've traveled and had sushi a lot of places, but it never compares. I love the Kawasaki roll, but everything here is good. I have so many memories with this place. It is truly special.
This is a great place to get food. My wife loves the sushi and I love the chicken fried rice. Also, when you go, you have to order the cheese rolls. They are soooo good. This is a place where my wife and I treat-ourselves to great food.
Great food , great service, fair price
The Atmosphere was nicely decorated, the service and food were poor. The waitress did not check on us, she was mostly out of sight, when we were trying to get her attention, she was mostly on her phone. I was supposed to receive fried asparagus, crab, and shrimp, but when I bit into the shrimp found it was a fried sweet potato. When I asked my waitress about it she said "it should all be shrimp" then walked away. My wife got the teriyaki chicken and only got 4 small pieces of chicken. Overall the sushi was decent, but I will not be returning and would not recommend.
I'm a lunch regular at Lemon Grass who picks up food there almost every week, and it is one of my absolute favorite places to eat in Maryville.
Fantastic food, consistently high quality, and excellent service every single time. And all done at a very reasonable price which can be rare to find these days. If you're on the fence get off it and go eat this place, my favorite is the chicken fried rice but everything I've had there is fantastic.
Our favorite take out spot! Always fresh & delicious!
When it comes to sushi and Thai foods I have yet to see the Lemon Grass beat. It doesn't look like much on the outside, but once you enter you will find an immaculate interior with some of the best cuisine in the area.
Meager portions, the food was mediocre at best. Our server was amazing it didn't make up for the lack-luster dining experience. It's clear this restaurant is focused on profit over quality. I have never had that much green pepper in a curry dish. The dinner for two is pretty much a ripoff. And the cost definitely did not match what we received. If ALL of this wasn't bad enough, they overcharged us! Our bill shows that they charged us for "dinner for two TWICE." We are going back tomorrow to try and get this resolved. Stay tuned. 😳 We won't be going back. No, thank you.
Really good food 😋
I got the peanut butter shrimp plate. It was pretty tasty. The prices on the menu are pretty expensive. Our server was great, always asking how we were doing. The inside could use a bit of updating. It met the just an above average food place.
Lemongrass is a wonderful place, very nice atmosphere, outstanding staff. I only rate 2 stars on food, because of my personal stance on Thai food...I've only tried it a couple of times, and maybe I'm just ordering the wrong thing for me. The coconut vegetable soup that I had was very very good!
My husband & I decided to give Lemon Grass a try.
Unfortunately, we both got sick a few hours after eating the food here. We don’t recommend.
Ordered Tum Yum Chicken Soup - it was flavorless boiled chicken & the broth itself was bland.
Sushi ordered - California, Kawasaki & Spider
Bland & one note all around. The rolls were falling apart & tastes like salt. Couldn’t even taste the different fish & the fried soft crab didn’t have any crunch to it.
Drunken noodles - Taste like salt & sweet bell peppers. Noodles had no taste & felt like the noodles were boiled & tossed with sweet peppers.
Our total was $65 and definitely NOT worth it.
First time visit for lunch. Great service and atmosphere, but the food didn't rock my world. It wasn't bad at all, it just didn't meet my expectations.
Nice atmosphere, always great service and delicious food.
Lemongrass is THE best place in Maryville to get sushi! 😋🍣
Great food and wonderful staff.
Party of 4 during the dinner rush, place was packed and so many take out orders. The food was great! Sushi was fresh and the drunken noodles were delicious! Could have just been a little spicier for my taste. We will absolutely be going back. Staff was attentive, kind, and professional. Love having this little gem in my town.
First visit here and we loved it!
Cute place! Sushi was good. Highly recommend the honey crab sushi.
Always delicious food and excellent service.
Slow slow slow
Great food great staff. Don't be fooled by the outside appearance. This place is great
Horrible service, we watched as others that arrived after us received their meals and left before we received our entrees. When we finally received our red curry and pad Thai (after almost an hour wait) the food was lackluster and lacked the true depth of flavorful Thai food. We will not be returning.

The sushi was outstanding, hence the 3 stars because the scallops were actually 4 scallops buried under a heaping pile of bell peppers that overpowered the taste of everything. The only thing I rate them down for is they close at 3pm until 5pm. On my schedule, it makes it hard to get to due to my hours of work. My wife had the spring rolls, 2 for $5, which I thought to be a bit expensive. She also had the Pad Thai Noodles with shrimp. She rated the noodles very high. She also had a Dr. Pepper for $2.99. I had the Teriyaki Chicken, which came with an abundance of white rice. It blended well with the teriyaki sauce. The chicken came in semi large pieces cooked with mixed vegetables, mushrooms, onions, and squash, cooked in the teriyaki sauce. Overall, it was very good, though the chicken was a bit tough. We had the lunch venue, so I would expect the dinner menu to add more quantities for dinner menus and prices. Enjoy.
Massaman curry with tofu is amazing
We had not eaten here in years. Food was very good though they were out of 3 things we ordered... and in my sweet potato tempura roll the sweet potato was so raw it was crunchy of of that rather than the fact it was tempura fried... server was good and atmosphere was too cold and kind of blah...
Great food. Great service. Clean place.
Incredible sushi. Excellent service.
First time eating here yesterday an it was delicious!! Nice hot a fresh!! Will definitely be eating here again! I had the chicken masaman curry
I'm getting to know Thai food and loving it. It's our date night destination now.
I enjoy the food here and have been coming for several years. Today, I was treated very rudely by the wait staff who was talking surfing on her phone and talking to other wait staff while I waited. I saw my sushi was ready and sat on the bar while the waitress continued to talk with wait staff. She brought the sushi and did not take my order. I asked to give my order. She brought my rice and slammed it on the table and walked off. Where is the manager?
First time here. Sushi was good, not great. Fried Rice was good. Appetizers were good! A little pricey but overall would come here again!
The food was amazing. The service and atmosphere was awesome. I will go back.
They have great sushi here. It is made fresh and right in front of you. My favorite is the Ninja roll, and my wife likes the Holiday roll. It is one of the most popular spots in town.
We get takeout and it is fantastic. Super fresh,
I had 2 to go dinners. They apparently did not put the lid all the way on the container for my green curry, and half of the sauce ended up in the bag. So my meal did not have much flavor.
Best curry in TN
Delicious food
The server Robert has an attractive as heck mustache and face. Jesse is a pretty cool dude I guess. Food is pretty chill too.
My boyfriend enjoyed the fried rice, but my drunken noodles were inedible! I've eaten Thai food all over the country my entire life, and I've never had a meal anywhere this bad. My noodles weren't cooked, the beef was rubbery and unseasoned, I ate 1 fork full of my meal, and my waiter never asked how things were. We paid tipped and left, but I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who's actually eaten Thai outside of TN.
Absolutely excellent in all ways and very affordable! Will definitely return and recommend to friends and family.
These folks should remove the word "Sushi" from their signage. I had dinner there with some friends on Sat., and I marked six choices from the separate, paper sushi menu, and not only did I *not* receive the two HAND-ROLLS that I'd ordered, but all the TINY pieces of cut rolls were dried out, the wasabi was dried out to the point of darkening, and not once did the server check back. The Thai dishes were decent, but for me to receive 'supermarket' sushi, and a bill for four people, $115, without tip, it's a given that I won't ever come back.
Definitely not what it used to be. Either management has changed or they simply do not care enough to provide a quality meal. I ordered red curry with pork and indicated spice level 4, the second spiciest option available. There was not even a remote inkling of spice. I ordered to go and live 2 red lights and one left turn away, making my drive less than 5 minutes. I could even make the walk in about 10 minutes if I wanted. So You would think that the food would still have been piping hot? Much to my surprise it was less than lukewarm. That's beyond infuriating knowing they chose to send out food that wasn't even hot to begin with. The rice was also cold and the top half was already hard. I was hungry though so I scarfed the food down only to be stricken with a swift case of food poisoning not even 3 hours after eating it. I should have known but decided to chance it anyway. A major red flag should have been seeing only 2 people in the dining room eating when I arrived when historically Lemon Grass was always packed out at lunch. I'll never be back. Major disappointment
Absolutely spectacular, blow-your-mind good for working class prices. The yellow curry was a symphony of flavor. The pad Thai was unmatched. Service was great, atmosphere was great. You have to try this place!
perfect
The best place to eat sushi in Maryville! The fish is fresh and the offer a good selection of rolls.
I was part of a group of 8. It wasn't hard to move around. I like going for lunch. I had a few parking options.
My husband and I love Lemon Grass. BUT tonight it took 40 minutes to get our entree. Very disappointing. Not busy dining room just poor kitchen management.
We tried this restaurant for lunch today. Our waitress was excellent. She provided us with good choices for lunch and made recommendations. The food was delicious. The spring rolls were probably the best we have ever eaten. All of the entrees we had were great. We will be coming back again and will bring friends.
Wow their spicy red curry was laughable. Very watery and not spicy at all, I ended up feeding it to my 9 month old. Their rice was poor quality, over cooked and they filled the box up half way. The pad Thai had a decent flavor but almost no bean sprouts and very little chicken. This place was a quick way to lose 50 bucks 👎
Food was excellent 👌
The food was really good, I just expected a bit more spice to the Green Curry, but I think they are trying to be more sensitive to the American taste buds!
Sushi was amazing & yellow curry chicken was delish
Our server Stefannie catered to us during our entire meal. Would highly recommend having her as your server if you ever go there!
First time coming here. Ordered drunken noodles(beef was a bit hard, noodle wasn't wide like it usually is), 3 sushi rolls(the two spicy tuna crunch rolls were greasy tasting like they added more crunch and less tuna, can't even taste the tuna, you can tell from the color and texture in the picture that it barely had any tuna on the top) and basil roll(was good)
Tough flavorless chicken, oily flavorless pad Thai, mushy vegetables, spicy red curry not spicy. Reasonable price point but bad food.
The food is excellent. Really fantastic Thai curries and the sushi tastes really fresh. Oh and if it says it's spicy it's like legit spicy. They also have this cute little bento thing for whatever the special of the day is. I will totes be back.
Usually great pahd thai. This time missed vegetables and some flavor.
Omg don’t let the outside fool you! I have came twice before and decided not to go in. So glad I did. It’s white tablecloth and napkins. The food was great! They close from 3-5pm (which I did not know) but they were kind enough to still seat me at 230. Nice choice of wines and good sushi selection!
Great food, great service and great atmosphere!
We've been recommended this restaurant by a lot of people but it's not my favorite. The parking lot is very difficult to maneuver in to start. The seating is kind of awkward which makes the atmosphere not as comfortable. It feels a bit like you are on display and you have to talk quietly because of the proximity to others. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive and it appeared the other staff were as well. The food was okay. We had yellow curry with chicken. It was good but nothing to write home about. It could use more salt and just some interest in flavor. We also had mango sticky rice which was very bland. It tasted like it was essentially sweetened rice with some almost ripe mango cut up beside it. Very very little to no flavor. It satisfied the thai craving since our regular thai place was closed.
My family ate here for the first time tonight. We all ordered different meals.
For our starters we got chicken satay and vegetarian spring rolls. The chicken satay was not like any other I have had before. It was dry and did not taste of much. The tiny amount is sauce was not enough for all of them but it didn’t taste good so it did t really matter. The spring rolls were good.
For the main course we ordered, Panang curry with pork, spicy basil leaves with pork, drunken noodles with tofu and pad Thai with chicken. When the server brought our dishes to the table, two of them were wrong. He also did not remember who ordered what. This left two of us with food and two without for about 10 minutes while they fixed the problem. I had almost finished my food before the others arrived. If I had waited, our meals would have been cold.
Both the panang curry and spicy basil leaves consisted of a lot of chopped bell peppers. When I say a lot, I mean 90% of the dish was bell peppers. The pork in both dishes was way overcooked, tough and there was not much. There was a bowl of white rice to share too. The spicy basil leaves was uninspired and did not taste of much. I had asked for it to be Thai hot but it was not as spicy as my wife’s dish which was only 2 star spicy. When the waiter brought it to the table he sloshed it around and there was sauce all over the bowl and dripping from the bottom of it. The panang curry was tasty but again, too many bell peppers and not much overcooked tough pork.
The pad Thai was plentiful but lacking somewhat in the flavor department. My wife only ate a few small bites before we boxed it up to take home. It tasted ok but literally every other Asian restaurant in the area serves better pad Thai.
The drunken noodles were the best dish. The noodles were overdone but the flavor was ok.
It was a disappointing experience. The food was some of the worst Asian in the area. On top of the below average food the service mistakes forced two of us to eat before the other two. We could have waited and eaten cold food but that sounded like a worse option. After the mistake, our server seemed to want to avoid us and he made no attempt to make it better.
I will be avoiding this place in the future.
We had ordered, Pad Thai and Pad Tai sew. Both were really bad, wrong sous, the cook had no idea how it has to be done. Do not waste your time and money for this place. The entre egg rolls were frozen and not made.
So, my wife and I wanted Sushi/Sashimi yesterday evening. We were planning on going to a different sushi restaurantin the area. They are closed on Mondays. So we went to Lemongrass. That is now our favorite sushi place. I got the sushi/Sashimi combo. My wife got the spicy tuna roll and the California roll. It was the best we've had. I had two beers and my wife had two glasses of wine. Clean restaurant. Staff was amazing. I highly recommend this place.
We love that place but the food was not like usual we will be back
So disappointed been going to this restaurant for 15 years we went tonight and when we walked in we noticed a bad smell
My pad ty was awful and there was a long black hair in one of our meals showed it to our server and all she said was that's not good
I wonder if there are new owners or management as it has gone down hill
The host was really nice and gave us amazing service
Best sushi in the area! Wonderful service!
Food is excellent. Staff very friendly
What a lovely surprise; this unassuming little bistro on a main thoroughfare in Maryville. Cozy, well appointed dining area and sushi bar. Uncomplicated menu with a variety of dishes for all appetites. The sushi is extraordinary. Huge rolls of fresh ingredients, excellently prepared. I chose the lunch box special for $13.99 that included a portion of California Roll, Miso Soup, Yellow Curry with Chicken, side salad and rice. Such a beautiful presentation in an expanded type bento box. Delicious curry and the best miso soup I have ever tasted. Oscar was my server and he was so friendly and professional. He clearly knew the menu and made excellent suggestions. If I lived in this area I would become a regular at this Maryville treasure.
An experience better suited to their core competence of sushi and noodle dishes. Chicken dishes and lamb chops are available, but lack the excellence of the Asian core offerings. We will be back, better equipped for making menu choices.
Really nice and very good food! First time getting sushi and it was very tasty.
This place got me addicted to sushi. Can't find anywhere else as good, even in knoxville. Great quality food and service!
Sushi was outstanding. Pad Thai is disappointing. Noodles overcooked and sauce watery.
On the top of our list to visit when we come home. Love the spicy crunchy tuna roll. Sometimes it’s a bit crowded, but that a good sign right?
Highly recommend!
Good sushi and Thai. The panang curry was delicious
Excellent food. Spice level was perfect.
The outside of the building might look unappealing, but this is by far best place to get sushi in the Maryville/Alcoa area. No other location compares.
However, I warn against paying online through their website. The payment portal uses non-secure HTTP to receive your credit card information, which is incredibly sketchy.
I'm originally from Florida and the culture in Tennessee is very lacking especially in the food authenticity. This place is phenomenal! The sushi was hands down the best in Tennessee we got the Holiday Roll, Ninja Roll, Rainbow Roll. We also had drunken noodles which were so flavorful and the Nam Sod is a must try! Rice is perfect yum yum yum! Also, it seems like there's great communication between the kitchen and front of house from what I can tell which is probably why it runs so smoothly! Will definitely keep coming here!
Ordered 4 appetizers and a dessert. Everything came out hot and delicious. Will definitely be returning!
Good
Ordered take out recently and when I went in to get the food, the carpet was sticky. Like really really sticky. When I asked the hostess what was spilled here recently she told me it's always like that. So, everyone that works, manages, or owns this restaurant walks across this absolutely disgusting floor hundreds of times a week and nobody does anything about it? Seems awful negligent and just lazy to me and makes me wonder if they're ok with the main dining room floor being nasty gross carpet that's seen its prime 10 years ago, what does their kitchen cleaning practices look like?
Please fix this problem, Lemongrass.
The Chicken is boiled so it's tough and has not taste. Ate it several times and won't order it again. Never had meat. The sushi is good
Appetizers where amazing and the sushi was spot on but the entrées were missing something... I love giving small business 5 stars but this time I just couldn't. The outside looked a little rough but don't let that fool you inside it was bright and beautiful decor...
The staff was all friendly and amazing just something about the entrées. I'll likely to try them again but unfortunately I'll not be making a special trip.
I am a person who loves sushi but I have never been to a place so bad before the food was not good and the service was very slow and disrespectful
Honestly not sure why all the good reviews, We ordered takeout, and everyone joked about the food and then ordered pizza. We all got a kick out of trying the brown rice and watching everyone's faces. Teriyaki chicken was basically a soup, maybe the reviews are about the sushi?
The food is tasty here - especially the steamed gyoza! The servers are attentive and quick, and it’s a lovely atmosphere!
You won't find better Thai anywhere.
Excellent food and service
Heavy set waiter mid 40s-50s with the beard, not friendly at all. Most of the staff stands over by the bar and gossips. Ruined the entire experience. Doesn’t matter how good the food is, the ambience was terrible and the service was as well.
Great food
Food and service are amazing. I get the Thai tea and try something different from their menu each visit. Never had anything bad from here ordering something new each time. The parking lot is super small and difficult to use. The outside also hides it's a very nice restaurant inside. Inside is also a bit small, but the curtains are nice. You don't have to look at the ugly highway or listen to the cars.
Excellent food and service!!!
An icon in Maryville. Very popular because the food is so varied and tasty.
It would be wonderful if they would pipe in a little background music. A wee bit to quite for us and the voices from adjoining tables carry with the lower ceilings. But all in all....folks go for the food. (They seem to do as much business w Take Out as they do with dine in)
We are new to Maryville and Lemon Grass was highly recommended by our realtor. She wasn’t wrong at all about how good the food and service is! I had the udon chicken soup and Pad Thai while my husband had the miso soup and spicy octopus. We both walked away full AND with to go containers. The service was excellent and the portions very generous. We will definitely go back for more!
We enjoyed the food the service was good and the atmosphere was nice. Not bad for Maryville
Do NOT let the exterior fool you! This is fine Thai cuisine served with tablecloths and linen napkins! Inside is nothing like the outside! There's nothing in town that compares because no one serves Thai at this level. We were all stuffed and yet we wanted to prolong the fantastic flavors! If you're not there right as they open, call ahead to guarantee a seat. This place fills up fast!
Tucked away in Maryville this little Asian Thai place does a busy lunch service. It's not super authentic but the service is good and the prices are reasonable.
What can I tell you. It's my very favorite place to eat. The food is consistently delicious.
Great service, great sushi, generous portions. I could eat here every day! 🤩😍🤩
Bean sprouts were in the fresh basil rolls, and they were not listed in the ingredient list. I only noticed after almost finishing the second one. This is unfortunate because I’m pregnant. Stick to your ingredient list. People have allergies and other reasons they need to be informed of what they’re eating. Hopefully nothing bad happens.
Great atmosphere. I went there for my Birthday lunch. I got the "lunch box" nice variety. I was not a fan of the house salad. Normally I wouldn't eat a salad white eating Thai food. The vegetable used are fresh. Very delightful. I received a complimentary dessert for my Birthday. That was nice. Our server was very good and patient. I will definitely go back!
Thank you,
Emily D
Wonderful grouper and sushi rolls! The staff was very welcoming and helpful! Maryville is lucky to have such a great place!
I ate there for the first time recently and it was quite good! My boyfriend and I both got the maki combo and also got a rainbow roll to share. Everything was delicious and the service was pleasant as well.
Wonderful food and service.
Love this place! Their sushi is some of the best I’ve had and always fresh.
We were there to wish Happy Birthday to a dear friend. It was great food and service. We noticed that they did a great carry-out business. Perhaps to the nearby hospital. Anyway, I had heard of this restaurant and now I want to go back! My husband had a California Roll and I had Cashew Chicken. Yummm!!
Has always been my go to restaurant for sushi.. Has great entrees too. Food is always great quality and service is superb too!
I've heard great things about this place and was very excited to try it. I ordered online and when I arrived the food was not ready. The staff were friendly and the place was busy. As soon as the food came out of the kitchen I took it home. However, I was disappointed with the quality and flavor of the food. The beef in the fried rice was very stringy and chewy. The chicken in the curry was very dry and had a leftover flavor to it. The sushi was good, but it wasn't special. It was pricey and I am not sure when or if I will give it another shot.
