I came to the restaurant during lunch time. Finding a parking spot for my car was not easy, I had to wait for another car to leave before I could park my car. Inside the restaurant was fully packed, customers had to find a table themselves. I sat at a table that was not cleaned yet, there were no other empty tables available. Not long after a server came. There was only 1 server who had to take orders, work the cashier, and clean tables. They need to hire more servers so customers can be served properly. The food we ordered was very spicy even though we ordered mild.
Overall, the restaurant was very crowded during lunch hours. Parking was difficult, there was no host to seat customers, the tables were not cleaned, and they were understaffed. I had to wait long for my food and the order was wrong because they brought spicy food when we ordered mild. The restaurant needs to improve several things to provide good service to their customers especially during peak lunch hours. More servers should be hired and management of reservations, seating, and orders needs to be improved.
So far, this is the best pho I’ve had in Chattanooga. The Spring rolls were good, with crunchy vegetables and spicy black pepper flavor. The Thai dumplings were excellent, not over salty. The golden puff was also very good. It was similar to a little sausage patty, (you get several of them) with ginger and lemon grass flavor. Generally the food was a little bit too salty for me, but I’m sure I will return over and over. I can’t wait to try other menu items.
The restaurant is small but the service is great and fast since the remodel. I love eating here.
Best pho in Chattanooga area!
Love this place but I have to take off points for Midday closings
Loved the service and vibes but the food wasn't that great for Thai food and it was overpriced. I got the curry and rice and it was watery and did not satisfy me.
Best Thai in the Chattanooga metropolitan area
Eat at your own risk. Trust me.
Okay. Pad Thai okay, not much flavor. Wife had chicken pho - broth salty and had a beef flavor but the portion was good. Atmosphere? No. Not a place I’ll come back to.
The employees who work here are extremely rude, food is not very good. The past owners were amazing people. Really disappointing to see what’s come of this business.
Great food and great staff.
Love the fresh rolls with the peanut dipping sauce and the esan sausage. You can choose your spice level here which means they cook everything fresh here.
Best Thai food in Chattanooga! Not a fancy place at all, just good food and plenty of it!
I don’t know I just can’t give it five. The flavor was fine but I don’t like my vegetables and meat drowned in sauce that’s too sweet. To where I can’t taste what’s in it. The mixed vegetable dish was really lacking in broccoli compared to other Thai that I’ve had.
Best asian food in north Georgia
One of my favorite Thai restaurants!! Our picky children LOVE this restaurant especially the chicken fried rice!!
Be careful with spice if you’re sensitive to it. I love spice but there’s been times it’s set me on fire haha.
The Tom Yum soup is phenomenal!
Don’t usually even like Thai but this place is amazing
Fantastic food and friendly service. Watch what spice level you ask for though, in true Thai tradition they don't play, that spicy Thai fire will destroy the unprepared!
I love Thai Esan! Never disappointed
Quick fast and excellent service! Food here is delicious made with good quality. I'll be coming back whenever I'm in town. Wish you were closer.
Excellent food!! Great service and a friendly staff!
Authentic Thai food.. pretty delicious and I enjoyed the spice very much.
The only complaint about the food is that the meat is really low quality.
The atmosphere is just very basic and no real thought put into it or money invested into it..
The art was cool though.
The service was pretty good.
The coconut soup is so watery and bland. Pad Prik is a little bland too. Not bad food but not good thai food
Best Pad Thai in town!
Excellent Thai food with good service in a low key environment. Reasonable prices and good portions. Great appetizers, fresh roll is excellent. Wonderful variety of dishes including many vegetarian options.
I ordered take out today from this restaurant, the food tastes good, but their packing is very harmful to health. They are placing hot food directly into the styrofoam togo boxes, where the heat is melting the styrofoam and toxins are released into the food, they are very harmful when ingested. Attached the picture of the melted styrofoam by their food.
I had laab and grapow. Both delicious. Both with pork.
Had the fried rice , love the portion of meat in proportion to rice. Many times I find myself fishing for beef in a big bowl of rice so this was a nice! And yes everything tasted good !
I just cannot write glowingly enough about this place. I've been 6 times, had a different starter and main course each time, and loved each and every one of them. Fresh, bright, layers of flavor and spice. The place is small so come early or late because you will want to take your time and share several dishes!
The Pad Kee Mao is THE best noodle dish I have ever had. Absolutely perfect texture on the noodles, veggies were perfect, spicy basil sauce was delicious!
This is my favorite Thai restaurant in the area. The YT food truck doesn’t count as a restaurant; plus the truck does not offer the variety of this place. I have not walked through their doors to dine in (been door dashing it), but I will very soon and looking forward to it. I still have so much to try here. It will be worth driving over the ridge.
Great family-style Thai! And even a few Vietnamese specialities like Beef Pho and Summer Rolls.
The chicken dumplings are out of this world. You HAVE to try them if you eat here! Everything else is pretty good too 😋
This place is always great. The food is fresh, affordable, and served quickly.
I’ve ordered from Thai Esan multiple times and typically have good service with great food. Today I placed an order online and waited over an hour only to be told the order was never received on their end of the online ordering platform, after showing the employee my email order confirmation twice while I was waiting. This restaurant is often busy on the weekends so I expected to wait, but was frustrated that I had been told my order was being made and would be ready soon multiple times only to find out it never went through the online ordering platform. After waiting for over an hour I canceled my order and left; the staff was not apologetic but did refund my order as I requested.
Everything we had was delicious. I will definitely go back again ❤️❤️
Great food, good service, and good atmosphere.
The food is excellent but the service, while not the worst, could be improved. I am willing to endure so-so service if it means I get to enjoy some of the best Thai food that I have had!
Pho Lao is phenomenal! Fresh Rolls are my absolute favorite! I have had every Thai restaurant in the Chattanooga area, Thai Esan is hands down the best!! 10/10
Best Thai so far! Cute little cafe, great food! Panang Curry is my favorite!
Edited to 4 stars because they honored the comped meal and were really apologetic and kind. Thank you, Thai Esan!
Hands down the best Thai in Chattanooga. Unfortunately, tonight we had to wait an hour and a half for just two takeout curries. (UberEats orders seemed to be prioritized which isn’t appropriate). They did apologize for the wait, which was kind, but that’s the point where a comped item or a discount would’ve been appropriate. On top of all of this, our curries were only about half full. When we asked about this, they filled it very slightly and with only broth (no veggies/protein).
Apparently, they have new owners. Smaller portions, food served on Styrofoam plates and cups. Drinks in plastic glasses. I like to eat Thai food served in a real dish. No complimentary water. No plans to visit again.
Delicious fresh rolls! It's hard to find them made without pork in restaurants, at Thai Esan their fresh rolls are prepared with tofu and shrimp. The coconut soup is also very good, it's Elegantly simple comfort food. The staff are friendly and very accommodating. Give them your business!
Very bad food. I ordered a take out so idk about atmosphere but I can say it looks like a make shift
Mcdonalds into a thai restaurant. Where do I begin; I ordered one spicy fried rice with shrimp(the shrimp was boiled, they told they will saute with the rice but they did not), it was not even fried rice; it was boiled jasmine rice with broccoli, bell peppers, carrots and shrimp. I also had ordered a pad thai and god the taste; all ginger and sweet, nothing else, while apparently it was “supposed” to be spicy as the menu stated. The lady was also someone who would not understand a thing I would say. Had to starve through the night because of such terrible food.
Pathetic Thai cuisine!!
I got myself a Spicy fried rice only to have boiled jasmine rice with some boiled veggies and shrimp..absolutely zero taste!
Don’t dine in/takeout here if you wanna try authentic Thai
Some of the best Thai food you can get in Tennessee
Always order from door dash but had the chance to go in and try and the food is delicious. Service is always great!
Delicious Pad Thai, egg fried rice. Great table service and takeout, Doordash.
EXCELLENT! The Pad Thai portion was ample and the flavor was great. The Fresh Rolls (2 Pieces) were amazing. Will definitely be eating here again.
EXCELLENT! The Pad Thai portion was ample and the flavor was great. The Fresh Rolls (2 Pieces) were amazing. Will definitely be eating here again.
Ordered my food and waited an extra hour after it was supposed to be done. Wish I could say this was the first time. It's constant.
Got here at 8:23 and was told I couldn’t sit because they were closing at 9 with huge attitude and eye rolling and huffing lol spend your money elsewhere
Food is great, service is great; don't quite get the atmosphere as it doesn't look like a restaurant..
Good Thai! The Curry is great
Delicious Thai! Authentic, flavorful, and great value!
Never a bad meal, got food fast, everything is perfect.
Best pho in town. Also love the masaman curry and the mango sticky rice.
Some of the best Thai food I've had, including a month in Thailand. Highly recommend.
Best pho I’ve ever had
We have some great Thai restaurants around Hamilton County, and this one is one of my favorites. Great quality and you get a lot for the price.
This place has changed my standard of good food. If I could eat only this food for the rest of my life, I would live in absolute bliss and contentment.
Super affordable prices and amazing food! I had the masamaan curry and it was delicious.
Inedible! I love Thai food, but this food is inedible. I ordered delivery thru Door Dash, which came way late and leaking. My orders forgot to include rice, but little did I know that this would be the least of my problems. I will never order from here again as all of our dishes were not worth a second bite and we were starving! Disappointed, as Thai restaurants are not plentiful in Chatt, but resist the urge!
The food was amazing!! I got the large coconut soup, which I heard great things about, and it was as great as I had heard! Definitely planning in going back to try some of the other things that sound amazing.
Had the Red Curry, ooooh yeeeeah so good!
The food was fresh and flavorful partially because of all the fresh veggies and spices. They actually make the food spicy if you want spicy.
The staff was very friendly and the restaurant was clean. Service was fast.
Their Red curry is very good. We will definitely be coming back if we want food in Nashville.
10/10! The staff is nice, and the food is great! I’ve had noodles and curry- both were delicious.
I was expecting a longer wait considering they make everything as you order (which I prefer anyway) but they were very quick. Not a lot of seating but enough for the lunch crowd that I witnessed when I ate there. The pineapple fried rice with chicken was fantastic, great flavor with just the amount of spice I had requested. It is a shared parking lot but I found a spot easily. I would definitely recommend you stop in for dine in or take out

This restaurant is a little gem. The food is always great and super fresh. Waiting is always part of the process, but it is worth it. The wait is due to freshness and their great popularity.
The new owners never answer the phone and last time I got Pho it was missing all the fresh stuff...lame
Best Thai place in Chattanooga!!!!
This place is great. Authentic Thai food served fresh. The service was excellent dining in and getting take out. It is a bit of a drive for me, but well worth it.
We love Thai Esan! It is our favorite Thai restaurant in Chattanooga. Our favorite dishes are Pad Thai, Panang Curry, Pad Kee Mao. You can’t go wrong here!
Soooooopo good! I wanted Thai and only had been to a couple other local Thai places. I accidentally found this place and I can’t be more happy. Place a takeaway order and drove over to pick it up. Nice little place with great food! Two servers (I didn’t get their names) were fantastic! Thank you so much for greta food and for making your restaurant my new go to for Thai!
Best Thai food in Chattanooga
i love it here so much their food is so comforting and perfect. 5 stars every time.
Oh man, I moved from NJ (hood food haven) to Chattanooga and wondered if I’d find good asian/eastern food here. Glad to know I did!!! Kudos to the chefs. The mushroom soup is a bomb combination of umami, sour, creamy, and savory. The red curry is so flavorful. And the lady at the front table is so friendly and sweet. I will be going again, again, and AGAIN!
We ate there several times until someone showed me their TN Heath department scores and comments… people please read this. Not washing hands and bugs.. another person here has a pic of of the roach in her soup…never again.
This is a very authentic Thai restaurant. I highly recommend the Pho and Pad Thai! And the Thai tea is delish! Fast service and plenty of seating! They also do takeout orders.
Food is good and very reasonably priced and quite tasty. Double check your take out order before leave the restaurant though as the last two times we have ordered online for takeout, something was missing. Missing spring rolls the first time then missing kids shrimp the next time. As long as you double check your order before leaving, you’ll be happy.
We came for lunch and were able to get the last available table. Despite how busy it was, we were served pretty quickly and really enjoyed our meal. My only notes are that the floors and surfaces could definitely be cleaned better, and it seemed like they were understaffed.
Vey good AUTHENTIC Thai food.. loved it!!

Very shady business practices. They want to list items at certain quantities for specific prices then want to set and argue with you about it when you get your order and it’s not all there. That’s not professional at all. We will not be back because this is the second time in a row they’ve pulled this nonsense and tried to debate their own listings. I refuse to support that kind of mindset from an operating business. So owner tries to lie instead of admitting the wrong and gets defensive. Customer did NOT yell in anyone’s face, thank you very much. Do better and stop being deceitful. It is your fault for false advertising. It is not your place to belittle the customer or not honor your own listing. This is the second time in a row we’ve had to debate management over a legitimate order. Unprofessional period.
Price great, food great! I eat here like once a week.
Some of the best Thai food in the state. Always have a great experience here, food and service are great.
I've been coming here for years. Order for pick up or dash. I've dined in a few times as well
Today I dined in ordered soup and pad Tai. Server was rude. Made the experience terrible. Do better. Sincerely a regular.
The food is good and the service is also good. A good place to eat some Thai food without being too pricey. Great job 👏🏾
Beef laap and beef woonsen were very flavorful and surprisingly tender.
Ordered fried rice with pork, AFTER i paid i was told they were out of pork for the night, upsetting, on top of that the cashier’s attitude and customer service was non existent, very poor with no sense of care, first and last time at this place. Food was decent nothing special. Disappointing first time experience.
Hole in the wall type place. We loved it, interesting selections, not quite found in other Thai restaurants.
It’s been a while since I’ve been here and as usual not disappointed! Everything ways tasty and we were well taken care of.
Great food and service
All gold everything!! That is all I need to say
Be careful about 2 things....
1. Make sure to check your takeout before you leave because they have a tendency to leave out items that you paid for.
2. The counter girl doesn't think anything is spicy. My theory is that no matter what you say she is going to order it hotter. It is always spicier than I asked for. Last time I said "0" NO SPICE and it was still pretty spicy.
Beware.
Good Thai flavor for a very bland area of the world. This town could use a little freshness.
The young girl who works up front is extremely rude and unprofessional. To preface, I typically love eating here with my family; however, what I witnessed today was absolutely appalling and we will not be returning. I watched as the young lady (employee) berated a young woman (customer) throughout the entirety of their meal. She verbally attacked the customer very publicly and loudly for the entire restaurant to witness. The customer was just a young woman who behaved very respectfully and patiently while enduring such treatment. I have not left a bad review on any restaurant before now, but I have thought about this poor young woman and her family all day, so I feel it’s only right.
the young girl who works up front was super rude and unprofessional. I will won’t be going back. I’ve never seen such disrespect and rudeness
This is a small, hole in the wall Thai food joint. It should come as absolutely no surprise that the food is DELICIOUS. Everything was cooked perfectly and was so flavorful. We also got a massive amount of food for the price. We got two appetizers, three entrees, and a Thai tea, and I think we spent around $50-60. The portion sizes were also huge, I got at least three meals out of their Pad See Ew. If you live in Chatty and need a new Thai place to go to, this should be your spot. I’m almost sad we don’t live there based on this restaurant alone!
Best AUTHENTIC THAI in town, my mom was born in Thailand, my sister has lived there, and we’ve been to 5 popular restaurants in Chatt. By far, still our go to.
Wonderful dinner at Thai Esan. We got there right at 5p and folks getting take out arrived just about the same time. It was busy from the time the doors opened. The food was exceptionally good. The Thai Dumplings were out of this world. It's officially our new favorite.
The sign on the door says closing time is 9pm on Sunday, google maps says closing time is 9pm on Sunday. We got to the restaurant at 815pm and the girl told us we can only do take out as they always close Sunday at 830pm. We looked around and there were 5 tables with people still eating. It was super clear that it's either they don't want our business or they just don't wanna work anymore. We even ensure to eat fast to leave before closing time at 9pm, but no, we were told that we can only do take out. Guess what, we left. Such poor service, don't think I will be back.
This is the place to go for down home asian cuisine
Probably the most authentic food I’ve had since living on Soi 26!
Two German cockroaches crawled up the wall as I was trying to eat... They went around the corner and straight back into the kitchen.
I love Thai food and have been eating it over 20 yrs. Pretty authentic Thai
Green curry is too salty for me . The pad thai is about the same taste as what I get in fast food thai restaurants.
Thai ESAN was ESANELY good! From the Tom Kha as my appetizer to the pad kee mao to the mango sweet sticky rice dessert. It was so fire! I’m glad I decided to read other people’s reviews - definitely was worth it! The restaurant itself is relatively small, nothing boujee - so there might be a wait!
We enjoyed the food. Very good.
Non descript Thai restaurant that serves very good food. The portions are quite large with fresh ingredients. Girls up front were both pleasant and sweet. Highly recommend.
Edit: April 2023
Extremely poor service!
Arrogant staff and these guys don’t care about any customer.
If you are trying to get a to go order placed, good luck as well!
Hold times usually are more than 10 minutes, many times they don’t even want to pickup your call..
We wanted to give them one more chance so we went for a dine in experience, where we were told that they are out of all supplies at 8 pm (closing time is 9)!! In a very arrogant manner…
Go to this place if you like to get free insults!!
I hope the owner sees this review and tries to make things better…
For me, who lived in Thailand for a long time, I was disappointed that [Pad Krapao Moo Sap] was not on the menu, but the unique tasted [Thai Fried Rice (pork with Pineapple - full of coconut and curry scent)] and [Pad Thai] did not disappoint me. I really want to come back and try [Somtam Thai] and Thai Rice Noodles([Guay Tiew] always much better than Vietnamese for me). It’s not Isan style (means dont worry, there’s not much Pu Pla smells) Highly recommended.
I have visited several times and intend to visit again. I hope their good service will continue as it was when I went. This review was written without any financial benefit provided.
Placed an order online and my car was charged. Go to pick up my order, and the store is closed at noon on Monday.
You’re straight up disrespecting your mouth and stomach if you aren’t eating there. Everything is good, everything is fresh!
The food was delicious and piping hot. Will eat in again soon. The wonton soup is yummy.
The red curry is literally the best I’ve ever had. Also the Thai tea is amazing!!
Currently this is my favorite Thai restaurant!!
Large lunch menu including vegetarian options. Not sure however if they cook the veggies in the same pans as the meat dishes are. This could be problematic for those with Alpha-gal allergies. The Thai tea also only comes with half n half, no non dairy options. The Hot level of heat is definitely authentic and lingers. Server was new, be patient. Restrooms were clean.
Nice family atmosphere 👌
I dine at Thai Esan at least once a month and that’s not enough. 10/10. Best Thai in Chattanooga.
Really good food. My favorite takeout
The best curry 🤤
Friendly ✅
Yummy Thai tea 😍
My favorite restaurant in Chattanooga
Best Thai in town for sure. The curries are amazing. Great, flavorful pho. The appetizers are packed with flavor. So good every time.
Great food but soooo slow! You’ll wait more than an hour for spring rolls. NOT Worth the trouble. And then they don’t care. Either pay cooks more or just close. Not ordering from this place ever again.
Great curry
Food was good, but service sucks. Me and my husband ordered PadThai. Both plates looked different. Server did give us silverware and no straw for the drink. We had to get up and look around the counter to find some. Server didn’t acknowledge us or asked if we needed help or how was the food.
So good
Ordered spicy fried rice but it was not spicy at all. Not even a little spicy. Also was told 35 mins wait so I arrived after 35 mins and still had to wait a bit. Other than that, the food still tasted decent.
THE BEST FOOD AND SERVICE. Girl(didn't catch her name. But she's short and has glasses) up front gives the best service, fast and with a smile. 10/10 would recommend.
Great first experience!
Will definitely be back!
