Thai Cuisine
I thought my waitress was really nice. She was really educated on gluten-free to make sure that I did not eat something that I was allergic to. I will say though that this is not the best Pad Thai I've ever had. It was pretty okay but it was definitely not something that I'd order again. The vegetables were a little weird. Other than that the edamame was cooked perfectly and I couldn't say anything bad about my experience overall. I most likely would come back here and try something else on the menu. I do love that they use cardboard instead of Styrofoam take out boxes.
We went here for dinner and shared crispy rolls, pineapple fried rice, and chicken massaman. We also each had a delicious starter of the Thai Salad. The Thai Salad was fresh and the veggies were crisp and good. The pineapple fried rice was very flavorful and good. I would definitely get it again. The massaman was so creamy and sweet and yummy. We had an all around good experience and I plan on coming to Joy Thai when I am back in town again.
I will say that if you are in a rush, order way ahead of time. They have only one cook. This wasn’t a problem for us because we were in no rush but keep the wait time in mind when you plan on coming here.
We’ve been on a road trip for a few days and were sick of fried fast food. We had a hard time settling on a food place since our kids wanted stir fried. My husband wanted curry and I wanted warm noodle soup. I grew up in a family food restaurant. This doesn’t mean much except my taste buds are super spoiled and tend to lean toward mom and pop shop more. After trying out, I can said with confidence that this place fits all of the criteria! We came a little after 12. Waited 20 mins and all food was served. Every dish was cooked to perfection. Fried tofu was perfectly cooked - hard on the outside and soft on the inside. Pad See Ew was so delicious. My daughter (super picky eater) ate half of it without my asking. My husband said the mango curry was 10/10! Before leaving, we also picked up Thai ice tea and a kiwi drink with popping strawberry. We finished it before leaving the block. It is so nice to see a little culture in the middle of Pennsylvania! Next time we pass through, we will definitely stop by and spend a little time to enjoy this cute little town.
We ate at Joy Thai last Evening for the first time in a while. Our food and service had not been good the time before but we decided to give them another try. So glad we did! Our food was delicious! We ordered the fruity shrimp appetizer, drunken noodle and Siam Mango Curry. Everything was yummy and the service was excellent! Will definitely be eating here again!
I was craving some tasty Thai and decided to give Joy's a try. Portion sizes and flavor were poor....Spent a good amount of money for a low quality (temperature was cold and tiny portions). Photos can speak for themselves. I put the wrapped chopstick as a measurement reference. $7.95 provides you with 5 wings "Thai Buffalo" they are smaller than chicken wings at any local pizza shop and have 0 flavor. $7.95 provided you with 4 tiny; sadly flavorless and cold chicken satay sticks. $24.95 affords 4 tiny pieces of lamb, on the upside this actually has flavor. The ice thai tea was decent. Overall, there are larger portion and more flavors in the area, don't choose here.
Peter was an excellent waiter! He was friendly, competent, and fast. That guy deserves a raise! The food was spot on as usual. It's usually very fresh, hot, and delicious, and it was no exception when we were there Friday. Joy Thai is one of my favorite restaurants in Williamsport.
The photos show what we ordered. The appetizer: Crabcake Pancake/ entrees: Pad Thai with an order of plain sticky rice and Thai Ginger with rice/ desserts: Coconut Ice Cream and Mango with sweet sticky rice and toasted sesame seeds. Everything was terrific!
Best food I’ve had in Williamsport in a long, long time!
Good food, great service.

Excellent food. We recommend the Drunken Noodles, Red Thai Curry, and both the Offshore and Onshore dishes, depending on whether you want the soup broth.
Good service. Doesn't take long for the food to come out, though we haven't been there when it's crowded. Relaxed atmosphere. Relatively quiet; so it's easy to have a conversation.
Doesn't have its own parking, but metered street parking (25 cents per half hour) usually is available, and there's a municipal lot just a half block away, but I think the parking rate's a bit higher there.
Just a short walk from the Genetti hotel.
September 2024 update:
My original review was from 5 years ago.
We heard that the ownership changed hands a year or two ago, and that it might not be as good. Our latest visit proved that we had nothing to worry about. We are in town once or twice a year, and stop in here every time. The food was still wonderful. The green curry dish knocked my socks off. Much more flavorful than I'm able to find at Thai restaurants back home. The two other dishes we had were just as good.

Food is great 👍🏼 Service very poor.
I had ordered a coconut bubble tea today in which there were no bubbles but just mashed up black tapioca in the bottom. When I asked the waitress about this, she said "I purposely made it soft so it's not "too hard" for you". She later reluctantly asked, "Do you want me to make it again for you?" To which I agreed, and she showed an unhappy face. Sometime later, she brought out a small sample of the mashed up tapioca and said this is all that I have. Do you want me to make it again with this?". I refused and later asked her to just take away the drink (which she did unhappily). The waitress did not check in or ask us how the food was. Kind of sad that the service is like this when the rest of the food is delicious.
Ordered spicy fried rice and was served regular fried rice. However, they did fix the order. Food was good and not overpriced. Good portion size too.
Good food at a reasonable price. Service was also quick.
Best Asian food in town!!!!!
The crispy rolls are delicious!!!
Highly recommend, service is great and curry is awesome.
Love this place, very kind service and the food is delicious. Extra peanuts !
Love their Thai milk tea with boba 🩷
Very nice restaurant. Very reasonable in price. Good portions of food.
Visiting from Pittsburgh and we have a lot of Thai restaurants there. I ordered Pad See Ew today from JoyThai and it was delicious! One of the best I have had!
Fantastic Thai curry's, able to ask for it to be more mild or spicy. Milk teas are delicious as well! Massaman curry is def my favorite

Delicious Thai fare
This is the best Thai restaurant in the area and honestly just some of the best food period. Top notch authentic dishes with so much flavor!! Staff was super friendly and we are very excited to go back and try some more absolutely amazing Thai food!
The mango curry is absolutely delicious!
Great service, nice atmosphere, reasonable prices. Food was good and well worth the price.
The atmosphere is simple and comfortable. I've gone for lunch twice recently and I've time it was quite full- the people after us had to wait quite a while- but the other time there were only one or two other tables. It's small so it can fill up quickly. The food is great and has a perfect spice level for me- hot but not too hot. Had Tom yum, coco soup, drunken noodles, Boba tea- all excellent. Wait staff were pleasant and efficient.
I came back to eat here cause I used to love this place and had my favorite buy the pad Thai was watery!! This is such a disappointment to all Thai people. The old owner 6-7 year ago was way way better!! I will never spend a sec eating here nor spend a penny!!
One of my favorite spots in Williamsport! Their pad Thai is my favorite and I get it all the time. A bit too much carrots but they're on top so it's no problem . The sauce is fantastic. Always great service. I never dine in so I can't comment on that.
Very good Thai.
Favorite place to eat in williamsport, Great food, Atmosphere, and the Staff are wonder people to have a conversation with. Sometimes the portion sizes are too big for me LOL
Good boba
I've been coming here for the past 2-3 years, the owners have always been very kind to me. While I've not tried every dish I know that no matter which one I may order I will likely like it. One I have to save I've loved the most is the Hot Jungle. I will keep coming back when I can, always great food and service!
Ordered Pad Thai, the eggs were pad, no bean sprouts, no peanuts, undercooked noodles. When I brought this to the attention of the waitress, she brought the cook out who argued that the dish was properly prepared. Sorry, we wont be back...probably the worst meal that I have ate since being in the hospital
Would leave 0 stars if i could
I recently placed a large order for many people in short notice. There was many special requests with each order and it all came out perfect. Everything tasted great and was correct. Even with annoying miscommunication on my end the customer service was great.
Excellent food.
I was a little disappointed that I couldn't get the curry but they assured me that any fried rice was gluten free. And it was!
Excellent food!!!
The green curry is flavorless and uses baby carrots. The chicken is gross. No effort was put in and there is a serious lack of spice. The only vegetables in the pad Thai are shredded carrots. Not worth the price at all.
Really tasty food here. I wish they had something spicier though. The rank 5 spice level is delicious it just isn’t that hot.
Pros: Food tasted really great, awesome service and friendly, large clean open atmosphere
Cons: Chicken was def on the stingy side, Pad Thai was on the sweet side, used too much American vegetables to substitute for Thai vegetables (broccoli, carrots aren't Thai food)
Take out was so fast!
My go to place to order fried rice. never had issues with my orders nor delays.
I loved the Thai Salad and side order of white rice.
Excellent Thai food - would like a little more shrimp in the curry though lol
Pretty delicious. Pad Thai is reliably good, though, I really do like the tofu chunks, which you don't always get in chicken pad Thai. Yellow curry was good; first time ordering that from here. Also, just learned they have crab fried rice, which was excellent. Husband gets the Thai basil w chicken, which he says is fine. Service is good. Speed is good. Prices are good. Serving sizes are good.
I love the food here and the service is great! 10/10 would recommend. Cristian Plancarte is a great cashier and is very kind and friendly.
Decent Thai in Williamsport. We ordered pad Thai, spring rolls and masaman curry. While it wasn’t the worst it wasn’t incredible. Felt the masaman curry was a little too sweet and heavy. Spring rolls were good. Pad Thai was good but also a little heavy. Would have liked it to be a bit lighter in general but again not a bad spot and would like to come back to try their other dishes
Joy Thai is the only place I go for Thai food, absolutely hands down the best around!
Joy Thai is so good!! It’s my go to for take out. I’ve gotten lunch and dinner from here dozens of times in the past year. Everything I have tried has been delicious and I’ve never had any issues with the service. I’m really glad we have this place here in Williamsport.
Not doing dine in at the moment but the food is very good.
Good taste
We have lived in Thailand for several years and it was so good to get authentic Thai food at Joy Thai Cuisine! The owner even came out and spoke with us - we really appreciated that!
very poor
AUTHENTIC THAI CUISINE WITH HIGHEST QUALITY INGREDIENTS 🐘👌💞👏🎶❣🐘
...even use sweetened condensed milk for Thai Iced Tea 😃🎶💞🎉 the restaurant is willing to pay extra to make it authentic for the traditional taste full of flavor 😃💞🎉
I asked for EXTRA SPICY aha they delivered.
Delicious food. The mango curry is definitely my favorite item on the menu.
Expensive, mostly rice.
Lewisburg location is fantastic. Definitely recommend the crab fried rice.
Loved everything I tried
Great food, quick service. Their garden salad is one of the best I've ever had. So fresh and flavorful!
Had a nice chat with who I think is the owner while we waited for our order to be finished. The food is authentic Thai, and since we asked for it to be Thai spicy, it was! Be careful about ordering your food Thai hot: we lived in Thailand and I love spicy food, but even I couldn't finish my food. Still planning to go back!
Am from out of town and this was my third time eating here, never dissapoints! Superb food and good service!
Love this restaurant - delicious food and friendly staff!
The food has amazing flavor, good amount of spice but not too much , all around just delicious!
The staff is so sweet and the food is amazing. By far my favorite restaurant, if a bit pricey.
Absolutely love this place. I've lived in a number of cities/areas with great Thai places in the past (Chicago, Houston, Columbus), and this place is up there with the best. We get it once a week we love it so much!
I was craving some tasty Thai and decided to give Joy's a try. Portion sizes and flavor were poor....Spent a good amount of money for a low quality (temperature was cold and tiny portions). Well prepared, good customer service, and good food
I purchase lunch or dinner here around once a week. The staff is awesome and so is the food! I look forward to my Joy Thai - Fridays every week!!
Best Thai food--by far--in central PA. Their Thai iced tea is pretty amazing, too. Highly recommend.
Drunken noodle all the way!
Love their Thai and they practice great hygiene and safety procedures.
This was the first food we ordered when we moved in and it was delicious.
Our favorite place in town. Been there many many times.
Best Thai place in town hands town. I've had better in other places, but the staff here is friendly and the food enjoyable.
Amazing food!
Better choices in the area. Pricier than others and less quantity.
Pad thai was excellent
Awesome. First time dining here and we will be back. Nice atmosphere great food and service. Many choices whether you like spicy or mild. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Excellent food best thai food in the area
Food was great. Atmosphere was great. Not as spicy as I would have thought. Will go Spicer next time
The service was fast and the people were kind. The food was pretty awesome, the water though for the tea was a little mediocre but the great food made up for it.
Great Thai!
Good food
No way to go wrong here, but you must have the coconut soup.
I love the food! Dynamite noodle three stars.
This place has the best curry and Thai ice tea I have ever had. Tonight was my first time going there, and I will 100% be back! Great and very friendly service as well. It’s also very nice inside, quiet, warm, well lit and decorated beautifully. Again 100% will be back.
Friendly service and great food!
Amazing food very nice service
This was our second time here! Loved it both times. We got drunken noodles both times. Generous portions that are filled with vegetables and meat rather than solely being noodle heavy. Will continue to come back!!
Ok food with not so authentic thai food.
Food was great. A long wait to order, but then food came quite quickly. Didn't realize it was a BYOB restaurant. Will definitely be back.
Great food
Great service and absolutely superb wanton soup
Delicious, fresh, authentic food with outstanding and speedy service. Great vegetarian options.
My favorite place to eat in Williamsport, and the staff is also very friendly.
They had what I wanted and it was very good.i took my granddaughter there she had never been there and she said it was very good .
Always excellent. Had the Hot Jungle with Shrimp today. Great!
Best curry i could find staff is polite and attentive love this restaraunt amd frequent almost daily for lunch.
Great food first time eating there and would definitely go back
Amazing food, love the varying levels of heat, great service. Much better with being consistent than another Thai restaurant in the area. I've been here twice and I have zero complaints :)
Quite delicious lunch-- our group had drunken noodles, thai eggplant, massaman curry and coconut milk soup. Simple but tasteful atmosphere. Quick efficient service. Great place for a nice sit down meal if you are driving through Williamsport, PA.
Not the best. Not absolutely horrible, but I was there minutes after they opened and some of the food wasn't a good temp. Overall they weren't bad but I don't think I'll go there again.
Easily the best tasting Thai food I’ve ever had (had the Panang curry). However watch the spice level because level three (hot) had me sniffling and I can handle a good bit of spice.
Always delicious, great service the owner is a doll!!
Didn't like the service me and my granddaughter and my daughter and my girlfriend order are our dinner or lunch at to come 3 they told us we had to get out and we just started eating cuz I had to go pick up the kids I'll never eat there again going to make me pay for my full price for my mail
Excellent food
They were not open when I was there hahahaha
Great food and service
Hands down the only place to go for Thai in or around williamsport.
Amazing Thai food!! Good ambience!
Best Thai food I've had yet. Large portions, and well priced. Thank you!
The owners make sure food is brought out to their customers quickly. I give the owners 5 star every time I've been at Joy Thia Cuisine the food has been amazing... I have to admit since I've moved away I've really missed going there... ✌️❤️☺️
Great food, great prices, great service. Very good overall
The food is delicious! And the service is always friendly.
Amazing food, loved the atmosphere! The service was great and the prices were reasonable.
Best Thai in the city. And yes, there is more than one Thai restaurant in Williamsport.
We had lunch here recently and had a wonderful time. The food was a bit different than the Thai food I am used to but it was excellent nonetheless. So glad we stopped. I can't say enough good things about this place. Everything is fresh and so so tasty. Slowly going thru the menu but it's hard not getting my favorites. I'll be going here regularly for a long time to come. What's even better is that you will not find better service than this place. They know what they're doing here trust me.
Delightful dining! Food is delicious and service was terrific!
Great food!
Yummy!
When we first walked in the smells from the kitchen let us know we picked the right place. The food was full of flavor and the portions were pretty big. The staff were very friendly and kind. 10/10 would eat here again.
Outstanding dinner! Excellent service. Green Curry w/ shrimp, wonderful.
I was hungry and on the hunt for something good. After doing a quick search a Thai restaurant showed up within walking distance. I'll be honest the reviews alone made me want to try this place. I arrived right before them closing ( 2:40 pm ) to prepare for Dinner hours , I notice all Thai restaurants do this. I can run on all day about the customer service which by the way was phenomenal but to be expected. Now mind you I live in South Florida and I'm here on business so I frequent a lot of Thai restaurants. And let me tell you !!!! The food here exceeded my expectations and cured my taste buds desire (Yes it's that good). If you're in the area and want something tasty and delightful that will tingle your taste buds give this place a try.
