Insee Thai Kitchen serve authentic thai food to Mt Lebanon and near by neighborhood.
Please come visit and try our newly restaurant.
Wow, this is definitely some great Thai food! There are so many different Thai places in Pittsburgh, but this place is one of the most hole in the wall type spots I've heard of. It's a decent ways away from downtown, but not too far. The food quality is excellent and the prices are pretty reasonable. Tonight, I ordered the pad Thai with tofu and Thai custard with sweet sticky rice.
The pad Thai itself was quite good. Some of the noodles are a bit clumped together, but that could have been just due to travel time. They use an ample amount of tofu, not too little or too much. Most of the pieces were tasty and flavorful, but a few were a bit tough. Their sauce has a slight red hue to it (similar to Thai and Noodle Outlet). But, I prefer this sauce since it's not overpoweringly sweet. Nice crunch from sprouts.Would have liked a few more peanuts or a stronger nutty flavor. Still, very good, and they read my note saying no green onions. Portion was ample, more than enough for a meal or a meal for a hungry person.
Their Thai custard was phenomenal. Local Thai places like this make amazing desserts! It tasted homemade and makes you feel warm inside. The custard was perfectly sweet, and had a slight edge which was caramelized (which was extra amazing). The rice was well cooked and soaked in coconut milk. Would have appreciated a bit more coconut milk on top. The packaging for this dessert was also interesting (a container inside the standard box).
All in all, the food at Sawasdee is delicious. They make a solid Pad Thai and the Thai custard is top notch. Prices are in line with other places and the portion sizes are ample. Haven't tried the sushi, but they also have a sushi menu (thus the name). Check it out for some no frills and delicious Thai food in the South Hills!
On a scale of romance novels to documentaries, Sawasdee Thai & Sushi is an often-read favorite. While this was my first experience of their cooking, it's clear that it will not be the last. They offer delicious comfort food that also feels just ever so slightly healthy.
The avocado curry was a delicious blend of flavors, but it was the pork dumplings that completely swept me off my feet for their perfect fried quality and savory tastes.
We ordered through GrubHub, and it was a perfect delivery and experience. Thank you!
Will absolutely try everything on the menu with time, haven't been disappointed yet- crab Rangoon is excellent and the drunken pad Thai with noodles introduced me to an entire new flavor. Bar setting, Five Stars, Wonderful
The tom yum soup was phenomenal. I wish it was slightly spicier but overall it was great 5/5.
Pad thai 3.78/5
Had the most delicious meal at Insee Thai Kitchen: pad Thai, fresh rolls, chicken satay and mango sticky rice for dessert! So fresh, large portions, and friendly staff. Definitely has become one of my go-tos for quick and delicious Thai food.
I absolutely love Thai food, and after moving to Pittsburgh half a year ago, I tried a bunch of places, but the food was just OK. Then, I found this place, and I am so, so incredibly happy I did! It is a tiny, hole in the wall, take out only, the lady who owns it works in the kitchen. She is super nice, and her food is just wonderful!
I've pretty much tried the entire menu exvept for the sushi, but narrowed it down to my favorite dishes, and lately have been getting these on repeat. I love the drunken noodles with beef (I like them very spicy), the red curry, garlic chicken, basil beef or chicken and the samosas.
The prices are decent, not different from other Thai places.

Not a dine in, but the food here is great :). Also the Thai coffee is SO GOOD!!!
This place has the best Thai food. The chicken Satay is so good it comes with 2 different sauces and they are so good.
So. Good. I've eaten here twice in the last three days
Ordered noodles but got rice but the flavor is so out of this world delicious that I can't even be mad. Will be back. The place looks like a hole in the wall but wow the flavor.
The food was delicious. Definitely a place to go back to.
The inside wasn't much. Only a single table to spit and eat at. This is definitely a place that you want to order take out from!
Food is just ok. Missing items in a take out order is the definite way to aggravate me. Not responding to numerous requests to make is right ensures that I never come back.
I would give a zero if i could. Im not at all a picky eater, but the food was terrible. I got samosas and pad thai. I would never recommend to go here. I paid $31, for this. I threw it away, thats how bad it was. 🙄

I just spent over 50 dollars to have a order delivered. The entire order was wrong. No one too blame but the restaurant. The delivery service did their job by delivering what was given to them. The right name on the bag but the entire order was wrong. I just don't get it. Yes I will probably get a refund for uber eats but now am out of dinner for tonight. This is crazy how you can spend money and support a business and they can not even double check to make sure the right order is being delivered to you. Such a frustrating experience. What a waste!
Amazing mango curry and the tom kha soup was delicious. I am not one to shy away from Thai spice, so I asked for the soup at an 8 (out of 10) and the curry at an 8 as well. Needless to say, I may have found my match and I couldn't have been happier. I had some real brow sweat and it was still full of marvelous flavor between the heat and the sweet mango.
The Thai iced tea wasn't bad; I've had better...and much worse (looking @ you, Thai Phoon).
We didn't realize that the restaurant is primarily take out (we ended up there by accident, as our true destination was closed for the day) but there was a table in there and the young lady said we could eat there if we didn't mind everything being served in take-out dishes (we didn't mind at all, since the drive from Bethel Park to our home in Washington, PA was a bit of a task if we wanted a hot meal).
My husband had the mango and chicken salad and he enjoyed very much (He's not into heavy spice, so his was a 1 on the heat scale).
We ended the meal with an order of mango sticky rice. The sauce was delicious, though the rice was very small-grained and a bit mealy. The mango was fresh, sweet and flavorful. It was a mango night for us both!
Over all, it was a very pleasant experience and I'd definitely recommend the place to any Thai-food enthusiast!
I got there when they said it would be ready, and before the door closes behind me, the lady says my name, adds the last container to my bag, and has it in my hand before I got to the counter. The pad, the masa-something curry, fried bananas, and mango rice were all so good. I wish it wasn't an hour from my house.
Mediocre thai food, even for the suburbs. Bland and low quality.
Dine-in experience was gross
Overall disappointing
Worst thai food. Ordered pineapple fried rice and they delivered half cooked chicken and dried rice tastes like a plastic rice.
Sawasadee Thai Kitchen is a slice of Thai food heaven in an unlikely place. It’s Mom and Pop, hole in the wall, bare bones, no frills, (NOT dine in) and among the best Thai food I’ve found in the US since living there for a fair price.
Fried rice was good and fresh roll was good but Thai curries lacked authentic taste. Were very mild

Great food, huge portions and prompt service!
I was telling the owners tonight how me and my girlfriend love the food here and order probably like once a month here. I always get the red curry but everything else that we have gotten is very good. Thank you and we will be back soon!
Serves some do the best dishes and it is always tasty. Never been disappointed and we go repeatedly. Lemon grass soup is forever favorite along with a large variety. Must try.
I had the drunken noodles amd curry fried rice. Everything was delicious. Amazing service, very welcoming and kind. Will definitely be back!
Favorite Thai place in the south hills ! To go orders are always ready when they say they will be. You never have to wait for your order! Food is great. Employees are so friendly !!

Best in town
Their customer service absolutely sucks 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
Tasty food, good quantity and reasonable prices!
My friend and I ordered the drunken noodles and the pineapple friend rice. Both orders were bland and disappointing.
Great Thai takeout place. Loved the pad Kee mao. The chef/owner was really friendly.
Not sure what happened to this place. It used to be very good. Im not sure if there was a change in ownership or chefs but I gave this place multiple trys because of how good it used to be and im not sure ill ever go back. Everything is just so bland and not only that but super dry as well.
Food and portion sizes are ok. The real reason I’m leaving a bad review today is because the guy working there today was not wearing a mask.
One of my favorite restaurants! Has amazing sushi and noodles!
This place use to be really good. Not sure if ownership has changed hands or the cooks left but it has been a train wreck for my last three orders (seriously, kept ordering hoping it would go back to the way it was). Don’t order for this place.
Update October 2020
We decided to give it another go since it’s been a couple of years and they’re back. Solid green curry at a reasonable price. Great weekday dinner if you’re pressed for time.
Not sure what happened to this place; I like their food, but they never follow order instructions anymore. I’ve received orders that I can’t eat twice now, with the order instructions even more specific the second time.
Great food, Great people!
They didn’t deliver what we ordered and then wanted us to pay for a new meal, the one we originally ordered. The employee was very argumentative about the situation. Will not be a returning customer.
Ordered their Spicy Crab roll & Crab Tempura roll off Uber Eats. The Spicy crab roll was amazing!! The Crab “Tempura” rolls was covered in green bean casserole topping.. the French fried onions on a sushi roll is something i wouldn’t be wish on my worst enemy.
Worst combo ever. Avoid Tempura roll and get yourself the spicy roll instead.
Tasted like thanksgiving leftovers
This was strange. We ordered two pad Thais. Considering we had not been here before, it would be a good test of the menu. It was not spicy, which is fine. Some like to control the spice and that is fine. But it doesn't taste like Pad Thai. It was very salty which was odd for pad thai. I also suspected that it had a tomato element? Somewhere behind the salt it had some odd flavors. I am not entirely sure what this is but it isn't like any pad Thai I have had before and that is definitely not a good thing. Maybe it was fish sauced to death? It is a reddish hue like someone put ketchup in a pad Thai. Overall, the very salty nature of the dish made it very difficult to eat. We will be passing on this place in the future. I am giving it two stars since we had excellent delivery through Ubereats and a prompt/courteous driver. If it wasn't for the location and the delivery, we wouldn't have ordered from there and we will not be ordering again.
Delightful! Drunken noodles beef was perfect with right amount of spice and heat. Green curry chicken had amazing flavor and tons of veggies. Walked in a ordered and had our dinner to go in 7 minutes. Everything tasted amazing!
It isn't bad. Just wouldn't call it good. I ordered via Uber Eats and I do think that if I could have specified spice it would have been better. The Pad Thai I received was about a 1 in spice. Delivery also was in a smaller container than I would have expected for $11 before delivery. The chicken in the Pad Thai actually almost had me going to 2 stars. It has no flavor.
Would I order delivery again? Probably not. Too many better options. If I was near there and a friend suggested going, I'd probably eat it again. I will say like another reviewer did. I was very happy it was not overwhelmed with fish sauce.
Delicious Massaman Curry. A decent amount of vegetarian restaurants and unlike other Thai places, there isn't fish sauce in everything.
Great Thai food.
Sweetest people in the world. Love the drunken noodles, love that it can be delivered!
The Tom Yum soup is - "Simply the best, better than all the rest"
Amazing food!!!
Food and service is GREAT
First visit and i got the green curry noodle dish. It was amazing. Highly recommended.
Super fast service. Discount on all orders when paying with cash. Country Pad Thai is very good and very spicy. Great local joint
I Uber Eats deliver a lot for this family.. and get tips. Must be good stuff!
A small shop with a big punch! I’ve never had anything bad from them and it’s always good food and a great choice for any night of the week
Good food, it's a family store in the neighborhood. Very good place to support
Very disappointing!! We had some people over who wNted Thai food for dinner so we placed an order and picked it up. We got everything we ordered, but except for the rice, it was all sub-par!!
Thai food is complex and plays off sweet, salty, spicy, and acid to make a symphony of flavors. What we got was bland, uninteresting, and one dimensional. And this was true across all six entrees we got.
Not likely to try them again.
Excellent food and friendly staff. Some of my favorite dishes are the dumplings, pineapple fried rice, pad see-ew, country pad thai, and of course the sticky rice with custard for desert.
Really great food.
Very bad food. Taste is horrible, meat is synthetic and frozen. Sushi not prepared to order. I got food poison and have been throwing up for the past 3 days. The owners won’t even consider giving me an apology. Many better places to eat in mt Lebanon.
It's...okay. I love Thai food and there's not many options in the area. Most Chinese places will do Pad Thai, but if you want something more then you need to find a proper Thai place.
There's nothing bad about Sawadee, but it really pales in comparison to a lot of alternatives downtown. When I get Thai I usually expect to taste lots of flavors... garlic, ginger, galangal, lemon grass, basil, fish sauce... Y'know... Thai food flavors. Having several different types of noodles, it's just a light soy sauce flavor. Nothing offensive, but it just doesn't scratch the itch.
A solid place for weekend takeout.
Didn't even call ahead and still walked out with food in less than 10 minutes!
Not a desirable taste
We really like their sushi. Their Thai dishes are good but not the best in the area.
The food was so bad... It did not even had salt... We ordered 5items he gave only 3... For which he did not even apologize...
Waited over an hour for food and then was refused service because we wanted to pay with a card. They offer a discount on all cash payments -- kinda sketchy. Usually they still take the cards but make you pay full price. Today that didn't happen.... Thai Touch just down the road in Mt. Lebanon and Thai Spoon in Dormont are both fantastic and cleaner. We won't return here.
AFTER LIVING IN PHILADELPHIA AND NEW YORK I HAVE FREQUENTED MANY THAI RESTAURANTS. THIS PLACE HAS AMAZING THAI FOOD. I HAVE TRIED 4 DIFFERENT DISHES THAT I USUALLY USE AS THE BENCHMARKS AND ALL ARE DELICIOUS. THE PAD THAI IS SOLID. TRY THE TOM KHA SOUP. IT IS INCREDIBLE. ADD A FEW PEPPER FLAKES AND VIOLA.
We're avid Thai food consumers. Our metric for good Thai food are: 1) Phad Thai. 2) Curry. 3) Specialty dish. 4) Fried Rice. 5) Soup. In Pittsburgh, we haven't found a place where we love all 5 of those dishes. Today we found one. The Country Phad Thai has that authentic taste. It ranks up there with Thai Tom in Seattle and Bangkok City in Dallas. The Red curry tasted just right. It can be thicker, but the taste is great. The Silver Soup was BANG ON. The highlight was the Crispy Chicken with Basil. It was AMAZING. Kudos to the chef. We will definitely try the fried rice next time. Our favorite Thai restaurant in Pittsburgh (you name it, we've been there).
OMG! So good! All the ingredients are vibrant. Have ordered quite a few items off the menu and have not been disappointed! Love the chef and the staff. Great service. Take out and delivery only, no dine in,
