The soup is spicy, and the spice level starts at medium. The soup includes pumpkin and other vegetables, as well as the bamboo shoots. It was very flavorful and hard to compare it to any other dish I have tried. We also tried a dumpling appetizer that was unique. My wife ordered a Thai dish, basil chicken, and it was excellent. They offer a variety of Asian teas, as well. The prices are very reasonable, and we really enjoyed our experience.

Visited on a Thursday afternoon after exploring Bok Tower and Gardens. The restaurant is small and had just one server during our visit, who was kind, attentive, and friendly. We began with a beef dish that my husband adored, followed by the red curry vegetarian, which I found very flavorful and well-spiced. My husband enjoyed a duck dish, and we also tried the basil fried rice, which was the highlight of the meal. I had it with tofu, and it was both flavorful and delicious. For dessert, I had the mango sticky rice, which was excellent. Overall, it's a fantastic place for a taste of Thailand, and I recommend it.

We both had the Thai iced tea. Ting greeted us and waited on us. She was super friendly, and helpful with the menu. We live in Lake Wales, but even if we didn't, we would make the drive for this food.

We are snowbirds and came across this gem of a restaurant while we were out and about . We were greeted by a wonderful woman, who always has a smile on her face and her name is Ting . We’ve been there four times now and everything we have had has been simply delicious. The attention to detail is amazing the crab Rangoon, were the best I’ve ever had !! The soup is so flavorful and delicious. The salads are amazing. The spring rolls are fantastic. Everything we’ve had has been superb. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anybody !! The staff is super super friendly, great service and such a gem of a restaurant, I would give it all the stars allowed . !!! AAAAAA plus!!!!

Kua Lao is a hidden gem! I am so grateful that I live so close and can frequent the restaurant. My wife and I have eaten here well over 20 times, and every time has been an excellent experience.

Food here was delicious! We tried 3 different soups (Tom Kha Kai, Tom Yum, and chicken wanton soup) which were perfect for a cold FL winter night. Each were awesome, but the best was the Tom Kha Kai. We also had the laarb (chicken) and a noodle dish (Kua Mee Lao) that was a bit of a mix between phad thai and Pad sew. you can choose what kind of meat you want in your dish and they even offer various spice levels. I'll definitely have to come back!

We’ve eaten here several times. Everytime has been fantastic. Some moments have been busy and we had to wait a little to get served but we understand there’s one lady holding down the dining room. She’s always so friendly and helpful. We’ve tried many dishes and they’ve all been fantastic. We truly enjoy this place!

We came from out of town, from southern florida and we LOVE thai food, so when we were driving into town and saw a thai restaurant with 4.8 stars and we decided to go. The apps weren’t bad at all! Crab rangoon and some wings were definitely promising, but when we got the mains it was definitely less than ideal, my drunken noodles were unlike what i’ve had before to say the least, not terrible, but compared to what i’ve had before, disappointing. My mother got the pad se ew, and it was salty to the point where it wasn’t easy to eat, and my mom wasn’t sure of the quality of chicken. my dad finally got the ramen, and it looked like undercooked package noodles and it had a hard boiled egg, which is odd because eggs are typically soft boiled in ramen. The people seemed great, the atmosphere was fine, butt the food left some to be desired. I wanted to make this so people are more cautious about reviews.

It was my first visit to Kualao Lao Thai and I will be back. My Sesame chicken was the best I’ve had. The spring rolls were good too. My husband had Kua Mee Lao with chicken and it was fantastic too.

Let me start off by saying me and my daughters are Thai and Cambodian so I guess we can get a little picky, but it just shows how much we appreciate good And authentic Thai food. Finding Thai restaurants here in Florida isn’t easy and it’s even harder to find good ones. We just moved over to this area from the Orlando area and I Was really shocked to find a Thai restaurant 20 minutes from my house. Since I am having surgery today yesterday, I ordered dinner to go and it was delicious. The spring rolls were perfect. My curry was so full of flavor and spicy but not ever powdering. I finished with the mango and sticky rice and I am so happy I did. I washed it Down with an iced coffee. I am so excited to order again. We will be repeat customers for sure, In fact, I am officially craving it as we speak so wish me luck on my surgery because my recovery meal is going to be Thai . Mmmmmmmmmmm

Ate here again and still as tasty as the first time. Duck pad thai had so much flavor and just the right amount of heat. Portion is also really generous, easy to make into a couple meals. Spring rolls and crab rangoon had great crunch. Pork tapioca dumplings were...definitely a new texture for me, but worth trying!

Great little resturant hidden off the beaten path. Clean facility, definitely not a chain. Home cooked Tai food, full of flavor. I would recommend stopping by, I know I will be back. My apologies for photos as we had started eating so some plate look sparse only because we devoured it.

Sunday afternoon, after visiting Bok Tower, we were looking for a place to eat in Lake Wales. What a pleasant surprise. Our table had spring rolls, coconut soup, crab ragon, salad and duck green curry. All was amazing. Will be back.

I love Kualoa! I eat here at least once a week. The food and service are both ALWAYS great. I am from Lake Wales, and Kualoa has been an amazing addition to our dining options. It's now my go-to when I'm not able to cook for dinner.

This was my first experience with Laotian food. For the price you can not beat it. We had the Basil Duck and Basil Chicken, both dishes were great and food was freshly made. We also tried the Wings and Spring roll; which were great as well. Please enjoy these unique restaurants that Lake Wales has to offer. There is one waitress, so please be patient.

Fabulous food

I want to love this place. I’ve been looking for a Thai place in Lake Wales, but this was disappointing. I ordered take out, two orders of red curry with tofu. The rice provided with the meal was about 1/3 the amount needed to eat the meal. The rice was mushy and bland. The peppers were enormous in our red curry, making it so you had to eat each ingredient individually. Then to pay $11.99 for that is really disappointing.

I will try it again in the hopes this is just a new restaurant finding its footing after opening.

Came in with the family and everything on the menu looked good. We sat down, but never got any service. The woman working behind the counter picked up empty dishes from others next to us, but never offered us any water or to take our order. Pretty disappointing.

Ordered my food to go. Ordered the beef Pad Sa Ew and Tom Khem Moo. My first thought when picking up was that the portions seemed small but when I got home and started eating with my partner it was perfect. Haven’t had good Lao or Thai food since moving to Florida over 10 years ago without having to drive over an hour so this was an excellent treat for me. Please don’t be scared to try something new or different, it’s so worth it.

To order more than one course and have it come out at the appropriate time at this particular restaurant sad to say, you must order your appetizer, consume your appetizer, call the waitress over order, a salad or soup if you wish consume your salad or soup call the waitress over-and order your entrée, I have no idea what they have for desert? Food is great. Server needs a little guidance for a complete dining experience. We dined in this was our 2nd experience with the restaurant.

Wonderful to find Lao cuisine in Lake Wales. The hot and sour soup was delightful. The pork with vegetables was very nice. Watch out for the fish dipping sauce...it is fiery. Then, enjoy the soothing Mango with sticky rice. It is great.

Trying some place new We were looking up Thai places and came to this because of the reviews, but I was not impressed with the food. We walked in between 8 -830pm a few groups were in, not busy. It seems like we took her by surprise, she was ready or sure where to seat us. I guess because they were closing soon maybe. My friend ordered something in the starter section that sounded or was described as a dumpling. Well when it came out, it looked very unusual to identify. Found out it was made of tapioca and stuff with a minced meat, there was truly flavorless gummy ball the "stuff" inside slightly tasty if not surrounded by gummy stuff.
The vegetable soup was hot fresh and delicious. Yum. I ordered something described as Laos style stir fry noodles and I chose tofu as my protein. My friend had Teriyaki Chicken. her dish was a bit weak on flavor. It didn't taste bad but was not good to her because it was weak kind of bland as she said. My noodles have a light flavor not bad not great. All that and we drank water, which was terrible tasting tap anyway, all for almost 40 buck. Not impressive enough for me to spend money to try another dish, however if someone invited me and was paying I would be willing to try other dishes.

Delicious from the first bite to the last! We shared an array of items; wonton soup, spring roll, crab Rangoon, beef pad Thai and pork fried rice. Everything was fresh and hot and enough food for at least another meal or two. Monk was our server tonight. He was very attentive and answered our questions about the menu. Very clean and welcoming establishment. Definitely will be back soon!

Kualao is INCREDIBLE! It’s mine, and my childrens favorite place!!! Tonight, we got the steamed pork dumplings for the appetizer, then for my meal I got the drunkin noodles with steak in it and I asked them to cut up the peppers and onions small, and of course the kids got their favorite, spicy ramen! Which is HUGE!!!! So I always let them split it and they get full and still don’t finish! I usually order to go here, because it’s a small place and very nice inside and quiet and I have the kids always but they promised to behave, and they did, so we were finally able to get pics of it properly plated so I can finally make a good review. They do package to go orders extremely well though! The dining room has a wonderful atmosphere and everything is extremely clean! I’m a server and have been in the food industry all together for 18 years so I know a clean restaurant when I see one. And I currently work at LW Family restaurant, and have almost 2 years now, which is known for our daily deep cleaning so I really notice when places are as clean as us. Kualao also serves REAL STICKY RICE! No where I know of in Polk county does!!! And it’s so good! I order the sweet chili sauce to dip mine in. They also have it fried on sticks as an appetizer which is delicious as well, and their crab ragoon, is TO DIE FOR! I’ve tried a lot of dishes from here and everything is delicious! Another bonus is the prices are great with all huge portions!!! They even have Boba tea! The chocolate one is my kids fav! Mine as well lol So definitely give it a try and let them know amber sent ya! We go so much, I kid you not, all the people who work there know my name haha. I promise it’s worth every penny you spend and more, for the authentic Thai food experience!

The staff is super-friendly and accommodating, the restaurant and bathroom are immaculately clean and the food is absolutely fresh tasting, flavorful and delicious! We had the Pad Thai, the Panang Curry, the Crispy Chicken Spring Rolls, and the Crab Rangoons. IT WAS ALL SO YUMMY and the best Thai food I’ve had in Polk County!!!

Monk provided excellent service and amazing feedback when questions were asked about the menu. The menu was super easy to understand and literally everything that goes into the dish with some exceptions are listed in the description. The portions were huge in comparison to other places and the price was right on point. There’s plenty of parking at this restaurant. they are closed on Tuesdays and also close Monday through Friday from 2 PM to 4 PM to do prepping for the dinner rush. The food was super authentic. Definitely will be back.

Finally Thai food in Lake Wales!! Try it, you can't go wrong if you like Thai food. The food is fresh, flavorful, and authentic. It is reasonably priced and the server is extremely nice and inviting. Can't wait to go back! Losing weight just became more difficult 🙃

We stopped by here later in the evening and it was very quiet. It is a smaller location but there is still plenty of seating. Two of us ordered curry dishes, one ordered a pepper steak, and the fourth was a chicken dish with green vegetables and a gravy sauce. We also ordered the crab rangoons and mango sticky rice. The crab Rangoons had actual pieces of crab in them and were very creamy and crisp. All of our dishes were well seasoned and large portions and came out hot and fresh. The only complaint was the chicken dish with green vegetables and gravy lacked flavor. It was very bland. The yellow and red curry dishes were very flavorful and spicy, but we like spice. The pepper steak was also flavorful and didn’t need any seasoning.
We would like to come back and try some other dishes and some of their teas. Everything was made fresh to order and was not heated up. The service was great and the inside is decorated beautifully. We will definitely visit again.

A very nice addition to Lake Wales! The food was ample and delicious. We shared the Lao stir fried noodles and the crab Rangoon-- excellent!!

Food taste was excellent but the protein portions were very small due to cost cutting. The adage from Wendy's "where's the beef" applies here.

Delicious Thai cuisine. I got the Holy Basil Chicken (pad kra pao). It tasted delightfully spicy, savory, and fresh with the red bell peppers, white onion, & green onions.

The Thai iced tea was subtly sweet. I could eat & drink here all day if I could.

Really nice restaurant the service along with the food was fantastic. Tastfully decorated and very clean . Lake Wales needed a nice place like this we will be returning with more of our family.

Large portions, good food and thai iced tea! The service was also great. My only "complaint" is I wish they had fishless creamcheese rangoons! But we will totally be back!

So far I've tried the Crispy Spring Rolls, Crab Rangoon, Pad Ka Pao Kai, Drunken Noodles, Lad Na & Pepper Steak. Everything has been good since the very first time I've went.

The only reason I gave this 4 stars is because I have not sampled much of the menu- yet. So far what I've ordered here has been excellent. The curry dishes are a comfort food that brings me back to my favorite Thai joint in Chicago. The portions are generous and the staff is courteous. I plan on going back soon.

First time ever trying thai food and first time having duck. It did not disappoint, food was fresh and tasty. Basil duck was well seasoned with a bit of a kick of spiciness. Spring roll’s and crab rangoon were noticeably fried in super clean oil. Also staff was very friendly and welcoming. I wish them much luck and I will be back 100%🤍

Nice clean and cute little restaurant. Super friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely delicious. We had the crispy spring rolls. Thai style spicy papaya salad, Teriyaki chicken and Drunken noodles. Everything was so fresh and cooked to perfection.

Great food for a reasonable price

I'm THRILLED Lake Wales now has Thai food! Order the Holy Basil Duck immediately!!! The duck is perfectly cooked and perfectly crispy/juicy/fatty. Clean, cheerful, airy environment. Great service, even though the place was very busy. Highly recommend!!!

Food is outstanding, a lot of culture for being a fairly sized place and it’s just something new we needed in lake wales! Don’t get me wrong… it just gets boring when you can get the same thing from 5 other restaurants within 5 miles so I recommend this place if you want to try something new especially when we don’t often get it in lake wales.

Delicious! Just what Lake Wales needed!

I stopped by Saturday Jun 17th the Pad Thai, Fried Rice and Crab Rangoons were all great. Don't miss out on the Limeade it's the perfect refreshment for these hot summer days and Ms. Ting is very kind.

Been twice - had curry and spring/summer rolls. Authentic tasting. The wait staff who may be the owner is darling. We will be supporting them, hope you will too!
