An extensive range of Thai dishes is served at this standby for students & neighborhood residents.
Today was my last visit to this establishment. I've eaten here for lunch a few times and today after paying for my food, the waitress asked me why I never tip when I come. First, I am not a person who just eats out and never tips but the bottom line is tipping is a common courtesy not a requirement. Not to mention I have only eaten alone at this establishment so I am not even speaking about a gratuity. While I have never had a problem with my food (I've gotten the same thing each time I've gone there) the waitress is unfriendly and simply brings the food to the table and collects payment. The fact that she is paying attention enough to notice that I have not tipped her, but yet doesn't even interact with me (even something as a simple as "hi, how are you") really left a bad taste in my mouth, and therefore I will no longer be eating at this establishment.
overseasoned, didn't remove the potent smell/taste of beef in pad see ew. Crab fried rice was overcooked with crab pieces sprinkled on top - didnt seem fried at all because it didn't mix with other flavors in the dish.
i came for the lunch special, three courses for 11.95 which seemed like a great deal to me. i ordered the spicy lemon grass soup, shrimp dumplings, and shrimp pad thai and was not disappointed. the shrimp pad thai was absolutely phenomenal! i am a big thai food lover, and this pad thai exceeded my expectations with how flavorful it was. i got two small shrimp dumplings and they were fine, just your average dumplings. i very rarely drink soup, but this soup was also delicious. ill definitely be coming back :)
My friend and I came here because of University City Dining Days promotion. They were offering 3 courses for $15 so it seemed like a great deal. The place is pretty small and very simple. The menu had plenty of options. We tried the shrimp lemongrass soup and veggie spring rolls as starters. Both were good. The soup had a nice kick to it and good sized shrimp in it. For entrees we had the green curry and vegetable drunken noodles. Both were excellent! Green curry had a wonderful, slightly spicy flavor and the noodles were loaded with plenty of fresh veggies. For the third course we had green tea ice cream and fried bananas. The ice cream was too earthy for me—I expected a lighter, sweeter flavor. The friend bananas were absolutely perfect. Served hot and crispy and sweet. This place is BYOB so you can bring your own drinks but bring an ice bucket for your wine because they don’t have them. We also got dirty wine glasses and had to ask for more. Other than that the service was good.
I ordered delivery for Thai Singa House, whereI had a positive first experience with an order for delivery. The first time, I had ordered Chicken Pad Thai and Pad See Ew with Chicken. Both entrees were good and 4-star quality. Since I had a positive first experience, I couldn’t understand reviews on Yelp and other sites with ratings below a 4-star when I ordered the first time.
My second experience, was enlightening. The order was literally inedible. I ordered a double portion of chicken pad thai. They elected to give me fried tofu and chicken. That’s incorrect, as well as problematic when you’re gluten intolerant and place in the notes “gluten-free”. The second dish was beef brisket and chicken. I’ve been eating brisket, probably since it could be digested in my baby food. I have had it for decades in places across North America and Europe. It was the worst tasting brisket I’ve ever had- without question. The texture was bad as well, possibly because it wasn’t sliced properly- against the grain? Regardless, I was irritated, and extremely disappointed.
Though the portion size was good, it didn’t matter, because both entrees ended up in the garbage disposal. Now, I understand the average rating, and its justification. I’m being empathetic and mindful of my first experience for giving 3 stars.
I ordered on DoorDash last night and still can’t beleive how good that drunken noodle w beef was. They also accommodated a gluten free item and were very friendly on the phone when I asked. Will return for sure
Yesterday was my first time coming here... safe to say I will be back again! Food was out super quick and they were super accommodating with my request. Staff were very kind. Food was also delicious.

my favorite thai spot in university city -nicest workers, never a wait!
The food was excellent. The service was excellent also. The atmosphere was nice and it was quite even when getting crowded.
Green / red curry with shrimp, veggie or tofu are authentic Thai ( numberless trips to Thailand since the late sixties) in flavor and consistency, Tom Yom soup is mostly delish with or without meat/ shrimp also enjoy their spicy fish cake out of this world, all their noodle dishes are classic Thai ..... probably best Resteraunt to enjoy classic siam cuisine in Philly at the time....... really like, love and dig that lil resteraunt a leftover of a once gigantic Resteraunt, bar and ballroom ......make sure U bring Ur beverage of choice.........khwam xyak xahar thi di / bon appetit....
Ordered carry out for the first time the other day. The woman was so hospitable and made me feel very welcomed! Food was fresh. I’ll be back :)
This longstanding Thai dining establishment is the best. I recall such joyful experiences. My late husband and I fell in love with their dishes even before they opened the Penn Campus location. I wouldn't have experienced delicious green papaya salad if Somboon, a certain sweet, Thai Singha House restaurant proprietor hadn't, in 1990, asked me if I wanted to try something new to the menu. In 1999 my husband experienced a catastrophic illness and life changed significantly. We moved far away in 2004 and this is the one irreplaceable restaurant we truly missed. I see there is no longer screw pine cake in the menu offerings. By the way, a certain sweet Thai Singha House owner and very special woman, Somboon, makes amazing screw pine cake that will take you to heaven (or parranibbana). Saddhu, saddhu, saddhu!
Amazing Food & Reasonable price. Green curry is best!
I fairly enjoy this place for a quick pick up or dine in. It's BYOB if you dine in, and I like the fried rice and pad Thai. It is a small joint, and even though the taste of the food is good, I wouldn't expect if you are trying to find 'gourmet'
Food wasn't tasty at all
Nice meal and friendly staff.
Say Hello to Tom when you go in❣️
While the outside of this quaint Thai restaurant looks plain, inside you are welcomed with beautiful Thai art & even though small, a wonderful dining experience!
Thai Singh House has never served me a meal that was not fresh, delicious, & reasonably priced. I love that they don't serve pork in the wonton soup & the broth is very delicious. I've tried almost every dish & all are scrumptious! While I haven't been to Thailand if this food is any indication of what I can expect on a visit, then I can't wait to go!
I <3 Thai Singh House!!!!!!

Very delicious food at very reasonable prices!
My first time here I got the chicken pad thai and it was delicious - light and not too greasy but very filling, the noodles had a good flavor and the chicken was very flavorful as well. Make sure to squeeze the lemon on top as well!
Second time I came here I got a noodle dish as well which was good! I think I would recommend the pad thai more.
Very low key, more of a casual lunch spot or a informal dinner with friends. Worth a visit though.
Best Thai place ever. So much better than Pattaya. Awesome!!!
Been coming here for years.
The food is fresh and delicious, reasonable pricing and great service.
They never let us down
This restaurant is pretty bad. The food there is good but charged at a questionable price such as the Sampler, which costed me 9.25$ but had barely any amount of food at all. The worst part of the experience was the "gratuity" fee, which was given to me by surprise as the waitress didn't even warn me about any extra costing because of the group members I had. Not all of it was bad though. Most of the main dishes were reasonable for their price and good at that. I just wished that the appetizers were at a reasonable price and that the bill didn't include a surprise fee. 3.5/10
Tasteful food
Best shrimp pad thai I have ever eaten ever. Family owned, prices reasonable. Will try everything else on the menu soon.
The food here outshines ANYTHING you may want to point out as a flaw! EVERY menu item I have tried was 10/10! True hidden gem!
Solid Thai food, fast and friendly service. Very reasonably priced.
Drunken noodles sub tofu was great 👍🏾.
Spring rolls was on point. Affordable quick service , respectful staff. Nice experience!

Food and service is truly amazing. I have eaten here several times and the staff always take great care of me.
Food was good but portions were too small!
Delicious! Always very reliable, fresh and hot food even when delivered. I love the shrimp and tofu pad Thai, chicken satay, and calamari.
Best Thai food in the city HANDS DOWN! Staff is super friendly! Get the chive dumplings and thank me later. You're welcome!
Everything here is sooo delicious...
I ordered the salmon curry and the shrimp spring rolls...
Everything was AMAZING! portions were great, well priced for what i got! it was enjoyable!
only con was uber eats delivered it late but thats not their fault :)
padthai tooo sweet

The food was incredible!
A staple in the community. Been coming for 20 years (before they moved from down the street). Best Thai food outside of Thailand.
The staff was very friendly. I ordered a Thai fried rice and chicken satay. I was very pleased with the flavors. The fried rice had flavorful pieces of red peppers, vegetables and onions, it also came with a slice of fresh lime. This would be the first time that I ever used lime on my rice and now I am hooked! I will ask for more the next time. The Chicken satay had a beautiful authentic grilled flavor. Like I said - everything was perfect!
Amazing. Tom, the owner, and Lek, who waited on me, were so friendly and went above and beyond! The Pad See Ew was delicious. The drunken noodles were good and spicy (altho not too spicy). And the Thai Iced Tea...mm mm mmm!! Definitely will be back!
So glad to have a good local place since lemon grass is gone!
I hate to admit that I don’t think I’ve been to Thai Singha House since they moved from their original location back in 2013. We ordered takeout last night and it was AMAZING! Spicy drunken noodles and rack of lamb 10/10! I will be a regular again.
Omg! I freaking LOVE THIS PLACE. The food is so good! The portions are great try ALL the appetizers. Gyoza, chive dumplings. You really cannot go wrong.
Really okay food
Always great authentic Thai food.
Shrimp Pad Thai
Great Food
Bad
Thai restaurant across from my old apartment - I would give it a 3.5
Pros:
- Dishes: pad see ew, drunken noodles, red curry
- BYOB! lots of club BYOs have been held here - the space isn't huge but it does make for a good BYO spot
Cons:
- Portion for price isn't the best in my opinion
- Once ordered in person and had to wait ~30 minutes for 1 pad see ew
A decent thai lunch place. Their lunch special is a pretty good deal, with quick service in a nice, casual atmosphere.
I had chicken satay as an appetizer and green curry chicken for the main course, and for dessert, I had fried bananas. Everything was very delicious!
Order arrived fast but food was just OK. Egg rolls were mostly doe. Very little veggie filling. Disappointing for how much you end up paying for delivery. Main dish Pai See Ew was just OK too... Meaning noodles were flavorful but Stirfried vegetables have very little taste. 🤷🏽♀️
Would probably only eat there again if I could go and order the food so I could make sure what I was getting.
Food was great sevice could have been better
The soft shell crabs were outstanding!
Very good food, my dad is the current owner. Pretty clean! Not sure about delivery though.
I have been ordering food from this restaurant for more than 15 years. Tonight, Friday night I ordered my food -as usual- to be delivered. They told me it would take 30-45 mins. I placed the order at 5:37, and at 7:00 decided to give them a call to see what had happened. No concrete explanations, there were just busy! Are you kidding me?? Then the owner who we know offered me 50% discount after waiting for more than 1 hour. When I asked them how long would it take, they said 20 more minutes. INCREDIBLE! I could not believe such poor customer service with loyal customers. I cancelled my order! I have been a customer for decades but after this experience I am done. In addition their food is mediocre and inconsistent.
High quality meals, not overpriced, nice quiet interior, nice folks around.
Great place to order from if you never want to receive your food.
Ordered delivery and it never showed up. Restaurant didn't answer its phone once. They called me back well over 2 hours to ask if I still wanted the food, and then proceeded to blame it on the website?
Don't order from these clowns. Horrific service and there's way better Thai food out there. An apology just isn't enough.
One of Penn's favorite local restaurants. Love the coconut soup and Thai Iced Tea!
Good food for restaurant week, good selection on the menu
Good food and relaxed atmosphere
Quite solid! Thai cuisine classics were available and in good quality.
Atmosphere was inviting and open, yet felt somehow private.
The food given was okay. I had a three course meal as part of the University City dining days deal. The soup was just warm. I would have expected it to be much warmer. The red curry given was also not too warm. That was disappointing. The spice levels as a whole was very less even though we didn't ask for it to be that way.
Loved the food. Clean and quick and reasonably priced lunch menus.
Not authentic Thai but this is Philly
Solid Thai food, cool restaurant atmosphere.
I showed up for the early bird special. How serendipitous was this. I was presented with an absolutely wonderful 3 course meal for just over $10! I eaten at many fine & fancy Thai eateries, this was on par at more than half the price!! I highly recommend it!
Nice site for quality thai food. Got there near six, it wasn't packed at all. Certainly worth going back to. This place has a good design. Food is similar to a cafe in Indianapolis I loved.
Went here for lunch and I have to say they have a great lunch special (check out their website). So have this no sharing platters with the lunch I believe, which is why I took away one star because my friend literally had one bite and i head "are you two sharing?" uhm no, he was just tasting it...why so serious. It does say no sharing but one bite should not be a big deal sheesh!
But I enjoyed my food and so did my partner. $10 fo three courses isnt bad, and i got thai iced tea-always a hit. We spent about 35 dollars on lunch but thats because my partner ordered the rest of the menu =) service was solid, nothing to brag about. Place is quaint but cute and you have to find street parking, I definitely would come back again =)
Great food!
Very quick service here.
Every single time I've eaten here, the food has been amazing. Their staff is friendly and fast as well.
Irritating sound every 30 seconds....unfriendly staff...food was ok
Good food.
Decent place, clean ambience. Pineapple fried rice is good. Panang curry is really nice! The portions are a little large to finish a dish for a person.
Fresh ,delicious food .Great service!
Thai food is very good. I love Green Curry.

Excellent food and service every time I visit. The noodle dishes are great and all meals and sauces are homemade. I like the noodle dishes with chicken and a Thai tea the best. Great visit or for delivery for UPenn and Drexel students! Better than pizza and subs!
Unfortunately not as good as the original restaurant.
Lunch special is great, you get a lot of delicious food. Fresh ingredients. Love it!
Very good food. Large portions. We paid $15 dollars for a 3 course meal. Highly recommend this hole in the wall.
Take their advice on the spice/hot level! Dishes have good flavor, nice portion size, no corkage/bottle fee for BYO
Everything was amazing!
Quality thai food, not far from campus.
Sub-par Thai food. But Thai food nonetheless. I had the pad Thai. Asked for it spicy. 3 out of 5. Spice level was appropriate in my mind based on experiences elsewhere. If you don't like spicy food, I'd hesitate to go for a 3, as it was decently spicy!
I've only been there once and it will now be my new goto padthai place. The food is delicious, the service is quick and the prices are great!
I went for dinner on a Sunday evening and made it in time for the early bird special. It's definitely worth it if you want what's on that menu. Otherwise, the menu is reasonably priced and I enjoyed my penang curry. Service was good. I'd have to try more to give 5 stars. I asked to take home my leftovers and I was given something similar from the fridge. It makes me think mine was tossed by accident and I got a replacement.
Great food! Really bad service. But the food was worth it.
Good duck curry
Good food and service
Good food, terrible music that is beyond annoying-we almost left-emotionless wait staff. A woman next to us found a button in her sauce. Odd ingredient choice
Food is fresh andc tasty delicious.
The food is very good and the price is so reasonable. Their drinks are so refreshing and tasty.
I love this place.
Quality food in a ragtag neighborhood space.
.... It's alright.
good for BYOs and pretty great drunken noodles
Simply great Thai food. Don't order anything hotter than a 2 out of 5 unless you like extremely hot food.
Cozy and unassuming place. Good, cheap lunch special options and excellent service. Once they made a dish more spicy than what we asked for, and after we complained, they changed it free of charge. It's also BYOB, which is great for students.
Decent
Quick service and clean environment. Servings are on the small side, but the green curry and satay chicken were delicious.
Average thai food in good digs. Service was quick and the price was about what you'd expect for the area.
This was my first Thai experience and I was very impressed. A very nice atmosphere and quick service. We went in the afternoon and has no problem finding seating in this place.
