Azie's mission is to deliver the amazingly rich heritage of Japanese and Thai culture to diners in the Main Line. Mixing traditional with blazingly contemporary, the food, beverage and experience at Azie is carefully designed to surprise and elevate any night in or out!
I recently had a delightful lunch at Azie in Media, PA, with my nephew the day after Thanksgiving. He had a strong craving for sushi, so we decided to give Azie a try. We kicked off our meal with edamame and crab and cream cheese egg rolls, both of which were delicious. For our main course, we enjoyed a variety of sushi rolls, including the New Philly, shrimp tempura, and California rolls. We also ordered the chicken drunken noodles, which were incredibly flavorful and had just the right amount of spice.
The service was outstanding; our waitress, Murph, was exceptionally attentive and made our dining experience even better. Overall, I would rate Azie a perfect 5/5. The ambiance, food, and service were all excellent, making it a memorable meal.
Azie has great ambience, service, and food! Last night we went to Azie and sat in the open air space on the second floor. The setting was really lovely. Our server Ashely was also lovely! She was very friendly, welcoming, and made some great recs when I asked. Our drinks, appetizer, and entrees were all delicious.
We’ve been to Azie several times previously and have always enjoyed it. Their brunch is also delicious, and I’ve had a few really tasty cocktails here.
The service and food were fantastic. It was very busy when I went with my husband, but our server Dom handled the large crowd exceptionally well. He was very attentive and our food was served quickly and piping hot. For a starter we ordered the bulgogi spring rolls and the California rolls. The spring rolls and sauce were delicious. The rice vinegar in the sushi rice really brought out the flavor of the seaweed and the freshness of the cucumber and avocado. For our entrees we had the drunken noodles with beef and the ny strip steak with sweet potato fries. Everything was great by the caramelized honey butter with the sweet potato fries was out of this world. My husband and I kept coming back to the fries and honey butter! Overall our experience was wonderful, the food, atmosphere, and service were all very worth the price!
I can’t say enough good things about this place. My family and I have done dinners and brunch here and loved every one.
Recently we had our wedding reception here and it was (other than getting married) the BEST part of the day. They opened early just for us and the staff was so friendly and accommodating. The management was awesome and even worked with us as we doubled our head count a month before the date - seriously could not have been any less stressful - they were so flexible.
And then there was the food - they did their brunch menu plus extras (everyone especially loved the Kobe meatballs!) Should have taken more photos because the spread was fantastic. My only complaint would be that I couldn’t fit more in my stomach. All our guests talk about is how great the food was! Our 3 year old scarfed down the eggs and seafood like I’ve never seen before.
I’m so grateful to them for the above and beyond service, the ridiculously good food and considering the whole package how incredibly affordable it all was!
And now that I’ve written this review, I think we are going to have to go there for dinner tonight.
Thank you, Azie! You guys rock!
I rarely write negative reviews but I could not let this go. I go to Azie a lot and I love their mushroom dumpling soup. I ordered DoorDash tonight and I got the mushroom dumpling soup. I bit into the dumpling and it was COMPLETELY raw. All 3 dumplings RAW. (picture below). I called azie and asked to speak with a manager and did not get that request. I asked for a refund and they told me since I ordered through DoorDash there was nothing they could do and they insisted I call DoorDash. They told me they would remake it but I would have to pay for the DoorDash travel expense. DoorDash did their job- delivering my food safely. They are not going to refund me. Needless to say I am very disappointed with Azie and shocked that they were not accommodating in the slightest.
Amazing service, friendly staff and awesome selection of asian fusion food.
Highly recommend the duck and the sashimi/sushi platter for two.
For dessert we got an incredible recommendation: banana bread pudding. This is a must try, the bread pudding has a smooth texture, very rich banana flavor, and a great icecream on the side.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.
so i keep going back to azie because i WANT to love it. they have an amazing atmosphere/vibe, fun menu, and good drinks. i am an avid sushi fan and i’m not very picky, but it is some of the most average (maybe even a hair below average) sushi i’ve ever had. and ive had a decent amount from here. rolls, special rolls, nigiri. its fine! but thats it. which is disappointing considering how expensive it is and the upscale-ish vibe that would make you think you’re about to eat some of the best sushi of your life. hot food is definitely better, but not by that much. also the servers have always been ANGELS like super super nice, but the service is pretty slow :( even when i’ve been there when it was completely dead. the service at the bar is definitely faster. i would go back just for the drinks and vibes alone, but for the quality of food and high price point, i PERSONALLY don’t think it’s worth it. love that azie blue though <3. sorry this was long i am just very passionate about sushi.
Brilliant

I been waiting since 7:40 for a order it’s 8:06 the girls just stand there and say 5 minutes and then go back on their phones doing nothing
Great good, love the cute way the sushi chef made the Sashimi. It was adorable and even had a tiny crown made of carrot. Love!! Never disappointed when I order sushi here.
The brunch buffet is fantastic!
Mice crossing the dining room floor as if it were their personal playground. First & last visit.
Everything was great and the service was very accommodating
First time and had a great experience. Sushi and pad thai were great. They don't have a kids menu but do have some solid items not listed on the menu like Mac and cheese. Nice outdoor seating as well!
Didn't really know what to expect here but the food was fantastic. Never had a Kobe burger..... excellent!!

Azie was a fascinating experience because the atmosphere and service were exceptional. I thoroughly enjoyed the servers help and the decor was top notch. However the burger was weirdly subpar, and the fries clearly came from a bag. Overall not worth the 20 dollars.
Great place, fantastic food and service 😁
Paid in cash for my takeout and they shorted me on the change!! I asked where my coins were and they said they didn’t “do coin change”… food is good but I probably won’t be going back again.
My husband and I ordered sushi ( a plethora of items - pork dumplings, california & rainbow roll, TNT, Philly roll), we were happy they offered delivery via GrubHub. The food arrived on time and appeared presentable. However, we both became extremely ill after eating. Not sure which roll made us sick, but we confirmed had food poisoning - violently sick for multiple days. Still recovering from the food poisoning symptoms - 3 days later. Obviously this can happen with seafood, maybe it was just a bad batch - it was ordered later hours on a weekend night so maybe it was the end of the nights seafood?!
Excellent for a business dinner for small groups.
Amazing food and atmosphere. Abby attended to us and was friendly, courteous, and attentive. Will definitely return.
Very enjoyable meal, great margaritas.
Nice food with great value.👍
Excellent food and outstanding service
I usually go to the other locations to dine in. This is the first time I went to this location. I ordered takeout. Surprisingly the price that I paid in the amount of food I received. I was not satisfied whatsoever. I’ve noticed when you eat in the restaurant you get a lot more versus take out.
I ordered pad Thai and had to pay extra for vegetables. One avocado roll
And crab fried rice, barely any crab in there whatsoever.
Truly truly disappointing. I spent $50.
Ashley, the nicest and sweetest waitress ever!

Best Asian fusion I've had in a long time. Perfect pricing. Presentation of food was elegant and artistic. Flavors were balanced perfectly!
The bartender and staff are fabulous here! Great upstairs environment and their taste in music is immaculate. Check it!!
Great food. Very nice atmosphere. Reasonable prices and everything is super fresh. Something you absolutely want when dining out for sushi. Located in delightful downtime Media on State Street. Perfect for any type of celebration or date night. Enjoy!
Great place for date night
Wasn’t a fan of this place I came with a friend the host and the young man who was taking care of us didn’t give us quality service food was wrong and they put us in the back like we were slaves and kept the white people In the front never again
The food and atmosphere was great - my husband said the duck was not as good as my scallop dish - Our guest also had duck and said it was 4/5 . We all loved out appetizers which were spectacular.. dumplings , tempura shrimp and the crab rolls.. I could do a replay .. Our waitress was the sweetest and service was excellent !
My girlfriends and I love the happy hour. Murph is our favorite bartender! She’s what brings us back to the same spot time and time again!
Great time at Azie. Walked in around 6pm on a Saturday night without a reservation and was seated immediately. Wonderful, fast and professional service. Carly was our server and she was awesome! Food was delicious.
Murph is the best bartender in the place. She is delightful and super attentive.
My friends and I come in on Wednesday’s just to see Murph! She is the absolute best. Great service and the food is a delightful bonus.
After 20 minutes in the extremely loud dining room, we still hadn't gotten the menus we asked for. I asked again, and the waiter stopped to take 3 orders on his way to get our menu. Clearly they have enough customers and don't need any more.
Had dinner here on 12/16, and it was fantastic. Loved my Divers Scallops dish!
(Would have been even better if we didn't have to choose alternate drinks for them being "out of" a beer and mixed drink on their menu at 7pm.)
Excellent food and service. Had several lovely cocktails and a delicious poke bowl.
The food is delicious, served fresh, and the cocktails are devine. The bartender has crafted some absolutely creative and sublime cocktails that you simply must try.
Wonderful food, service, and drinks were very good. I will be back.
The New Philly roll is a dream!!!! The different tempura options are all delicious- the tempura is so fresh and unlike any other I’ve tried. Matt, our server, was wonderful. Can’t wait to return!
Great food. Great atmosphere. Service was amazing. Staff is very polite. Definatly recommend.
The lobster in the lobster mac and cheese was tough and rather dry but the mac and cheese was really good. My friends said their dishes were delicious- - One was duck and I forget the other. The service was excellent, and the server very pleasant.
Elegant atmosphere, freshly prepared food and courtesy staff. This restaurant is always popular in Media and does not disappoint. A great place to celebrate a birthday or anniversary. The Azie roll was perfect, spicy tuna, avocado and a light crunch and dessert was the most perfect creme brulee!
Hungry sad dogs.
Tomorrow I go off to the UK to see my granddaughter and I am travelling on my own. My partner cannot get away and I will miss her. I asked her where she would like to go to dinner as a minor consolation and she said Azie so "her wish, my command" I booked dinner. To round the evening out I had also bought her a lovely necklace and the idea was to go here, have a great meal, give her the necklace and have a lovely evening prior to my departure. That was the plan but not the result at all.
I have been to Azie a few times. Generally, it has been a good experience so I was not anticipating any issues. It looks like any issues that could have been experienced during other visits had all been saved up specially for last night.
We arrive, are seated promptly but it degenerated from here, since my soup took about 20 minutes to arrive and our main courses were at least half an hour after I finished it. Three other parties arrived at tables surrounding us after we arrived; remember this bit if you please.
Firstly, my partner is vegetarian, not an unusual dietary preference, and there are no vegetarian soups and only one vegetarian appetizer, which is literally a bowl of beans. She orders a jasmine tea to hold her over, which seemed nice enough, but it is hard to mess up Jasmine tea. At this point it all starts to go wrong. I order the clam chowder which in retrospect was gelatinous, almost gloopy and rather monochrome in taste. Then, we sit, and sit, and sit. I can't say it felt too long but that was down to the charming nature of my companion alone. I have ordered the strip steak and my partner the tofu poke bowl. As we sit we observe that all the three parties around us are tucking into their main dishes (some having ordered what we ordered) and we are still sitting, waiting, sitting, waiting. At this point I think I should say something, so I raise the issue with our server.
The meals arrive with a few minutes, and we get going. Well that was a mistake. I had ordered my steak rare. What I got was indeed rare but also almost inedible. As I cut into it I thought my knife must have been blunt but no, the meat was fighting back. Having been subjected to the indignity of being cooked, it was asserting its displeasure by fighting dismemberment. The fries were soggy with a load squashed under the "meat". It was awful. I did not ask for a box as I have two dogs. I was not going to subject them to that steak.
At this point we decide to go. I spoke with the manager and was refunded the cost of the steak but to be honest, that just compensated me for inedible food, not an evening, carefully planned being spoilt. Our server was charming. To be honest had the food that did arrive been delicious I would not be writing this review. However, food that, slow to arrive compounded with being appalling has prompted this review. I know from experience that Azie is capable of better. I may go back but thanks for nothing, spoilt evening, bad memory and hungry dogs.
Here are a couple of other reviews.
From "Zachary: “Do not get the New York Strip. 28 dollars for the worst Walmart quality piece of chewy shoe leather imaginable. Take this off the menu or change the price to 12 dollars. The chef should be ashamed to serve such an abomination and the manager should be reprimanded""
The second from “Amber” and they ordered steak, too. "the steak itself - while a good size - didn’t taste like anything”
After reading that, what would you think dear reader ? I always feel one mistake is forgivable, repeating that mistake can happen but three time is inexcusable. This is not a failure of service. It is an abject abnegation of managerial responsibility. Servers can only work with what they get and they often bear the brunt of a dissatisfied customer. That is not the issue here. Management is meant to facilitate the jobs of the employees and when service is slow, choices limited for alternative dietary preferences and despite other one star reviews mentioning a particular dish, the same pap is served up, there needs to be a change.
Cocktails were great. Food was good, but overpriced for what it was. Server was nice, but we didn't see much of him. I didn't care much, but a few in our party were pretty disturbed that we saw 3 mice while dining on the roof deck.
Second time there for happy hour and it’s always amazing! I love it there, food is delicious, drinks are great, and vibe is perfect. Can’t wait to go outside of happy hour.
We were seated quickly, drinks were solid and appetizers were amazing. They might have been the best part of the meal.
Entrees were good but definitely recommend getting more than one appetizer.
**Update: after seeing my review the assistant manager reached out to apologize and try to make things right so maybe I'll give it another try and see if things have improved. But it was nice of them to reach out.
I have never done this before but after sitting there with nothing but water for 35 minutes we got up and left. No one came to our table for a full 18 minutes after we were seated. We ordered drinks, which after another almost 20 minutes had still not arrived. Meanwhile three tables that were seated after us that we being handled by another sever already had drinks and appetizers. As we were leaving I saw our waitress standing at the back of the bar eating something.
We had an amazing time with amazing food and amazing service. The issue is their new pour policy regarding alcohol. Instead of increasing price and giving people a standard restaurant sized pour, our glasses of wine were maybe 4oz? Why not just charge a little more and give people what they’re paying for rather then rip them off? Mind you we were a table of 5 women celebrating a bday. We were there to celebrate we weren’t there to worry about how much the bill was going to be. It’s just in really poor taste ripping people off on alcohol when you’re a popular, steadily busy restaurant. Again, their food is always amazing and our server Vince was phenomenal. The mini martini glasses not even 75% full and the wine being maybe a 4oz pour is what makes you leave with a bad taste in your mouth. Not the food.
Great Appetizers & the lobster/ filet
One of my favorite restaurants in Media. Never a bad meal.
Best drunken noodles
Sushi, outside deck, our server Ashley - all five stars!
A little gem of a boutique restaurant. You will not be disappointed.
Just a wonderful time! The food was great and Abigail, our server, couldn't have treated us better!!
Looking for a good sushi spot in Media, this place will check the box. They have a big menu with a myriad of options for the non-sushi eaters and a pretty good sake list for the sake drinkers.
We ordered a mix of items from Kobe Beef fried rice, dumplings, sushi platter, a roll and some a la carte sushi. The food is good - no complaints. The sake was great. And the location is nice. Media has a great downtown area and Azie is in a great location among the hustle.
Great atmosphere, great staff and great food. Azie is so tastefully decorated with a broad and unusual menu to go with the vibe. Love it!
Good Sushi!! Had some other items on the menu and wasn’t as blown away by those though.
This place is truly remarkable. From the moment you walk in the door, the atmosphere and food are like no other. It is a very cozy place with great food, service and staff. Hannah goes above and beyond to make sure everything is Amazing and Gato and his staff are the best in the business. I would recommend this place to anyone. Matt, was our server is was stellar making sure we had everything we needed throughout the night. Thank you for making us feel at home and the service provided . We will most def be back!! Highly recommend to anyone and their families!
Too expensive
The food was so delicios🤩 And the staff very professional and polite.
Amazing food and service was so good. Olivia rocks! Highly recommended!
Best happy hour spot in Media. Great deals!
Love the bar here
We stayed till closing
Bartender was awesome
Helpful and nice
We keep coming back
Delicious food, beautiful space and wonderful service
As always, consistent food and service
LOVE this place! Best sushi in Mefia. Great for drinks too!
Their sushi is very good. Ambience is nice and I enjoy their HHs as well.
I’m thankful to have Azie in town. The cocktails and food are always delicious. Service can be a hit or miss though
Tasty food
Food is delicious. Service is great. Ambience is serene.
Food was amazing, service was excellent, restaurant was loud, but our amazing server moved us to a quieter corner when we asked.
Great staff, awesome food, perfect date night ambiance. Ohh and they have a porter on Tap 🍻
The food is great and so is the ambiance. Honestly our waitress was hysterical which made our lunch that much more enjoyable!
This was my first time at Azie in Media and I enjoyed immensely. The service was friendly and wonderful. The food was authentic and delicious. I would visit again.
A colleague and I went here while in town for work. We ordered the bulgogi spring rolls (pretty good) and the Takeshima, Red Dragon, and Crunchy Dynamite. The rolls weren't bad but absolutely not worth the price. We both felt they were quite unremarkable and under flavored. Service, however, was great.
Atmosphere was alright (very modern chic) but as the place filled up it gets quite loud.
Overall, this place is alright but I don't think I would visit again. There's a lot of other good options on the same street to try before giving Azie another shot
Everything between our server Olivia and the food was 100% incredible. We’ll definitely be back soon.
The entire experience of eating here was the perfect way to eat the night. Every one of our servers was delightful, and Matt was absolutely crushing it. I’m from far out of state, but will definitely be coming back next time I’m around.
My husband and I came here for dinner the weekend after new years and it was still packed! We made our reservation in advance, thankfully. Because it was so crowded and busy it did take a while for our entrees to come out (~45 min from the time we arrived, so not too bad and kind of to be expected), but we didn’t mind. Everything was delicious—he got sushi and I got the sea bass. We also had the crab and cream cheese egg rolls for our app.
It was a great night, but I’m not sure I’d say it was 100% worth the price. As I said everything was delicious, but I’ve definitely enjoyed myself more at another place I can think of that cost about the same. Still, I would recommend Azie if you’re looking for a special date restaurant.
The happy hour is pretty good. We used to come here all the time, it was our favorite spot. The past year or so it has sadly gone downhill. The drink menu is lacking, the food is bland, and twice when I came for a workday lunch the service was painfully slow.
Service is a bit slow but the drinks are worth the wait! Food the consistently tasty and large portions.
One of my favorite places ever for sushi! This restaurant never disappoints.
I was in Philadelphia for a work project and this place was recommended to my by a local coworker.
Tucked at a convenient location neighboring a variety of shops and boutiques, this place stands out with great food and a calm atmosphere. They have good variety of alcohol, cocktails, sushi and other offerings -even some unique stuff for vegans which are actually delicious. The portions are of good size, very satisfying and also easily shareable.
Excellent food and service. Rolls are delicious, especially the specialty ones.
The dumplings and shrimp tempura roll were great but the drunken noodles had no flavor. The room was over half empty but we were all seated very close together in one end of the room.
Great food and very friendly service!
Had a great seafood claypot and cocktails. We'll be back!
Food was a little disappointing for the price. I had difficulty finding the pokey in the Poké bowl. It was completely buried in an enormous amount of lettuce and salad. Service was friendly.
Inconsistent food preparation.
To expensive for over cooked seafood dinner
Always great food and service. Love sitting on yje second floor balcony watching the media locals.
The best food at Ázie Restaurant, they have the best chef the best manager the waitress ever thank you for the delicious meal
Terrific service, food, and atmosphere. Our server Jason was extremely personable and had great knowledge of the menu. We took him up on several of his recommendations and were not led astray. Everything was delicious and came out quickly. Will definitely be back.
As always excellent sushi.
Absolutely love this place. Many different areas to eat at and the food is excellent. Drinks could be a bit stronger but other than that it's perfect!
Shrimp and lobster in my meal were tough and overcooked. The other dinners were good.
One of the nicest restaurants in Media
Don’t come here if you don’t have plenty time to waste or if you want to have a pleasant dinning experience. First, no host at front. When the host came she was in a bad attitude. Second, the food took ages to come out. Don’t recommend!
I also agree with one of the reviews that I didn’t feel welcome in this place, I was ignore and if I don’t speak up for myself I could not even get my food. Do you want to dine in a place where you have to speak up just for food??!!!! Please go somewhere else!
Appetizers are very good, entrees are served wayyy too hot and have NO flavor, desserts are horrible, stay away from Baked Alaska. Drinks are Ok, nothing special. Service is not good. Few drinks, couple appetizers OK, definitely not worth the price either
This is a service review not a food review If your not white don’t expect to be seated served with urgency. Whoever the waiter was today was horrible. Probably won’t even order take out from this location again.
A staple on State Street! Why go into the city when you can do better at Azie? The seasonal drinks are very well crafted, and the food is amazing. Be sure to check out the lunch offerings and the best happy hour deals in town!
It's ok. Everything is just ok. Meh
We have had a wonderful experience here every time, be it the two of us or a family gathering. The waitstaff are pleasant and efficient and the food is delicious. My favorite is the crispy duck, as the orange sauce is balanced just right.
The food at Azie was delicious. I am generally hesitant to get seafood unless the restaurant is close to the water, but very happy we did. For entrees, we had the Sea Bass, Tuna (which was a special), Calamari salad, Gazpacho, and a couple of sushi rolls. All of which were flavorful, fresh, and delicious. I also have to say, on the side of the Gazpacho were these delicious little crouton slices that were sweet and savory. For dessert we had the banana bread pudding and gelato. The bread pudding was pretty tasty, but the gelato was a little icy and not quite as smooth as I would like. Not at all is this a reason not to visit this restaurant. Very pleased with my experience.
A one time great place has become victim to staff shortages and a below average experience. This was one of my favorite places to dine in and order out. Now they don't get the order right and the drinks are below average at best and the bartenders are a shadow of Juan.
The Hawaiian Poke Bowl was amazing and different. Sad that they did not have quinoa any longer. Had great service. Great lunch place.
My daughters went in yesterday 6/16/22 they food took forever to come out. It was gross. My older daughter didn’t realize there was caviar in the tempura roll she ordered, she never touched it. Our crab fried rice is SEASONLESS. I would have made out better driving all the way to Philly n getting a corner store Chinese food platter. I wouldn’t recommend this place AT ALL!
The food was flavourless. The sushi taste worse than buffet sushi. Highly disappointed will never eat there again
Positives: Great atmosphere and customer service. The spring rolls were served hot and delicious.
Negatives: The spicy crab roll didn't taste fresh. The Halibut was dry and lacked flavor. The risotto that it came with tasted "sweet" as if they added some kind of pineapple juice in the rice. It wasn't good. The crispy duck was okay but tasted a bit gamey. The bok choy also tasted very sweet and was soggy (perhaps overcooked?). Overall I didn't think the food was very tasty for the price that you pay per entree. I may give the other location in Villanova a try, but doubt I'll go to the Media location again.
Prices were good and everyone in my party was happy with their meal. The interior is really nicely decorated. Service was good.
Consistently good food and drinks for years. Recommend short rib bibimbap, drunken noodles, Kobe beef fried rice, and the scallops. Rolls are all good, but Azie roll, TNT, and Wanderlust are usuals on my plate. Craft cocktails rotate, but are always in good form… my Belvedere martinis always appear with ducks on the pond:-) The bar is a great people scene most nights. One negative is the acoustics - it can be loud. Missing Juan behind the bar:-(
Great place to dine out in Media, PA! Love every single thing on the menu! Happy hour at bar and front seat is PHENOMENAL and such great $! You will love their sushi! It's AMAZING. Try the Azie Roll if you like sushi!
Came here for my first time trying sushi and have been hooked ever since! Food is always delicious and the servers are very friendly and helpful
The food is so good and fresh and the customer service was excellent highly recommended.
My entrée was wrong twice. Very disappointing.
This is the last time I order out from this place. I’ve ordered take out online and every single time I go to pick it up it is not ready (after going off of the pickup time they gave me). Today, I called in the order, thinking they’ll give me an accurate pick up time. They didn’t. I had to wait an additional 20 minutes on top of the 45 minutes they told me it would be ready. This is my second bad review of this place and the first time the restaurant responded to me that they are sorry about that and they’re working on it. Turns out they didn’t. Don’t waste your time here if you plan on getting take out.
I went here for lunch with my husband. We did have reservations because he said that it was a popular spot. We went on a Friday afternoon and it wasn't packed at all. There were so many options to choose from (appetizers/entrees and drinks). The place was clean, staff was friendly and the atmosphere was absolutely beautiful ❤️ alot of big statement pieces throughout the restaurant including the wine bottle display. Great for a quick lunch/dinner with friends, family, and she's like it would be great for a happy hour spot after work.
