Loved the calamari, wings, and shrimp tempura sushi roll. Pad Thai was mediocre. Service was good. Cool place. Will return.

Diner Review №5

We try this place every year or so for over a decade, it’s consistently good. I like that they periodically change up the menu, we tried an innovative shrimp tempura appetizer with the Gorgonzola fondue sauce. It was a little bit jarring, but I give them credit for the innovation. We ordered the wide noodle dish with vegetables, and the Penang curry with tofu. Both were delicious. There’s a general slight tendency to be a little heavy on the coconut cream.
Vegetarian options for every entrée.
Our server, let us relax and enjoy our wine long after our meal was finished. I’m glad they canceled the cork fee!
Other than that this place consistently delivers, highly recommend.

Diner Review №6

This was excellent. The Thai iced tea was very flavorful, some of the best I’ve ever had. We tried the kobe hot rock which was super fun and also extremely delicious. I had beef lo mein and my partner had the chicken pad Thai. We shared the tempura fried ice cream. They were all very delicious and we had a great time in this beautiful little spot. We’ll be back for sure! I want to try the sushi and poke next time.

This was our first time trying this establishment. The pad Thai was very flavorful, and it was not dry at all. The Kobe beef was very tender and delicious. We also tried their coconut curry, the flavor was exquisite. We also tried their calamari and the rock shrimp, we are very disappointed because the batter had no flavor. I would say skip the appetizers and go for the entrées. Their online menu on their website also needs to be updated. Two of the items on there were not available anymore.

We had the seafood drunken noodle, tempura shrimp appetizer, and mandarin salad and they were all fantastic. Seafood cooked absolutely perfectly and the flavors were spot on. We will be back! Next time we will bring a bottle of wine as they don't offer there. Really lovely experience

Main kitchen dishes have international flavors and are prepared perfectly. With that being said, the sushi is prepared with expert precision and presentation. Be prepared for a great experience!

Best place to eat and enjoy!!

Diner Review №16

We're always greeted with a smile and they're very accommodating depending on our needs for seating. The service is good and they're very attentive without being annoying. The food is always fresh and delicious and can be customized per dietary needs/wants. It's our go to when we want Thai food!

Love this place! The food is AMAZING! My go-tos are pad thai, curry duck, sushi, wings, and dumplings

Diner Review №19

Went for lunch yesterday with my wife. I was here about a year or two ago and remember being dissapointed with the food and lack of flavor. This time, the service was great (manager or owner was very attentitive) amd the food was delicious. We especially loved the lettuce wrap.

Diner Review №20

I have been here two times and I have had such a pleasant experience. I came once with my boyfriend and the food was delicious and the staff was so kind. The other time I came was for my birthday, we were a larger group of girls and they were beyond accommodating and respectful. I plan to go here again next week for a delicous! I love the food here!! One of my favorite Thai restaurants in the area!!

Mikado Thai Pepper Restaurant was a phenomenal dining experience. Restaurant is a double sized storefront establishment that is roomy yet intimate and cozy at the same time. Super chill vibe and comfortably relaxing. We ordered the summer Rolli and they were fresh, tasty and delicious. The tom yum koomg soup was equally fresh and delicious. The pad see ew was also fresh and exceptionally tasty. The basil chicken with rice was also amazing. I ordered the chicken fried rice with plum sauce and this was an amazing dish. Our server Marie G. was exceptionally patient and helpful. All prices on menu more than reasonable. This is an amazing restaurant and I highly recommend it!

Diner Review №27

I almost always get takeout these days, but it is a place with a classic ambiance to dine in, too. I love that they still offer some of their classic Thai dishes from the original Thai Pepper days, but now have excellent sushi and Japanese options too. The best miso soup on the Main Line. And when in season, their mango sticky rice is a special way to finish a meal. I have been a fan since the mid-1990s.

Diner Review №28

I got some sushi, egg roles, and the wonton soup and got BAD food poisoning. I’m on day 3 and I’m still bed-bound

The food was okay, not great. The environment also was okay, not great.

Diner Review №34

We have ordered dinner for our small gathering of 12: spicy beef noodle, chicken fried rice, satay, vegetable dumplings and salad. All of them were delicious and the order was ready on time. Thank you!

Diner Review №35

We order lunch from Mikado at least once a week, a favorite for sure!

My son and I like this place since the food is always tasty - regardless of what we order. My personal favorite is the pineapple chicken. As an added bonus, the service is always GREAT.

Diner Review №46

Food was significantly repugnant. I spent $120 and totally regret it. I hate leaving bad reviews but this review was deemed necessary. I ordered crab fried rice, Poseidon roll, tofu appetizer, pad Thai, pineapple fried rice w shrimp and chicken, annd Penang duck w red curry and everything was disgusting. I should have went with my better judgement. They told me to come back in 30min. I went to gas station two blocks down the street and came back and my food was done and bagged which meant it took them 10minutes to prepare it which tells me nothing was cooked fresh. The pad Thai was overly sweet taste like jelly and it was so mushy the texture was of jelly. The sushi roll taste very fishy. I could only withstand one bite. Also, both fried rice orders tasted foul. They should honestly be shut down. My daughter and I threw our food out. My husband, against our better judgement, was hungry and ate his crispy duck and rice. Unfortunately, he got food poisoning. DO NOT EAT HERE!!! The food is not only nasty but not fresh. I added a picture of the pad Thai looks like dog throw up yuck

Diner Review №47

Great food. I have eaten here a couple of times and was glad I did both times.

Diner Review №48

The chicken was overcooked and dried out and the soup was served cold other than that it was ok.

Haven’t eaten from here in a while and decided to order takeout. This place had the best Thai food for years but now it’s the worst. I think they have a new chef which sucks. Pad thai was not good and the chicken was super thinly sliced (cheapos). Drunken noodles was disgusting and the beef in it looked like it was just boiled (and had no flavor) and then added into the dish to mix and serve. Thai basil fried rice was the most disappointing as it used to be the best. Literally had no flavor AT ALL (not even a taste of soy sauce at least)! The beef again looked like it was boiled as it had no flavor and the golden color. Will not be coming back here. This was my favorite spot for the thai basil fried rice. So sad.

Diner Review №53

Great easy meal in Ardmore. Been getting the poke bowl here for years. It is still my gold standard for poke bowls. I’m yet to have one anywhere else that comes even close. It’s huge as well so it’s a good value. My family eats here every week. It’s consistently good and the employees are wonderful. I recommend the crunch bowl with extra crunch and avocado.

Diner Review №54

Everything was Excellent & Delicious 😋. I can't wait to go Back

Diner Review №55

Diner Review №56

Felt like I entered into an old time chinese restaurant. The sushi was sub par, the Peking Duck appetizer was horrible, burnt beyond recognition, clearly a reheat item, and the Tom Yam Soup was just ok. There are way too many great sushi places in the area to subject one to sub par food. This place is now on my no go to list. They have lost their mojo big time!

Diner Review №57

The food was fantastic. The Tom kah gai soup was the best I've had, and the pad thai was great, could have used a couple more shrimp but a huge portion. Definitely a great place to eat.

Diner Review №58

Diner Review №59

Possibly the best sushi on The Main Line. Always a crowd pleaser!

Diner Review №60

Diner Review №61

I wasn’t a fan of the food here, I could figure out if this was a Thai, Japanese or Chinese place. I guess it was pan-Asian. I love Asian food but the red Thai curry with salmon didn’t have the flavour I would usually expect, also the salmon was overcooked making it dry. The sea bass was moist and had good flavour, but the rice came late for this dish. The shrimp dumplings were like dim sum (breakfast item). And we had two servers who kept were asking if we were ready to order - seemed a bit disorganised.

Diner Review №70

This place is a mix of Thai and Japanese (sushi mostly). I do not recommend the sushi. Thai was good. Chicken massaman was a crowd favorite, good flavor, but chicken was dry. Overall quality was good, especially the shrimp shumai. The place was overpriced for what it is. Feels not very authentic, but a good quick go-to if and when you need it.

Diner Review №73

Literally the worst Pad Thai I have ever had

Diner Review №74

Always great, fresh, and quickly made dishes. Love Japanese, Thai food. Staff and servers attentive to guests.

Diner Review №75

Our waitress was lovely and the food is good. The tempura appetizer was a bit onion/bell pepper heavy, and the dipping sauce a little flavorless. The edamame was tasty, but not super hot. The miso soup was excellent as was the sushi. We would have preferred seating on the Japanese side, but we’re not given an option. The entire restaurant is charming either way though.

Diner Review №76

Diner Review №77

Great staff/food

Diner Review №78

This place never fails me no matter what I order! The food is always fresh tasting and the flavor is always abundant! Take out or in person. Great atmosphere too! Parking can be difficult but that's normal for the area. If you can't find street parking go for the municipal lots a block over.

Diner Review №79

Loved it. Food was awesome. Presentation great. Good variety on the menu. Sushi was fresh and good quality. Service was good. The seating was unusual where we sat you kinda climbed into the table. But they did have regular seating we just went for the full experience. Definitely recommend giving them a try.

Diner Review №80

We booked a table for our special event. Ordered appetizer and sushi. Sushi was brought after 20 minutes and appetizer at least 40 minutes after ordered, which was overcooked. Horrible! Do not recommend.

Diner Review №81

Waiter guy RUDE and Disrespectful.

Diner Review №82

I was here a while back ( like over 10 yrs ago) and loved the food but this time it was just ok .The service is amazing but i felt underwhelmed with the calamari, soft shell crab sushi annnnddd I cant remember the last one (that says a mouthful in itself). I'm going to give them one more try for old times' sake. I'll keep you posted!!

Diner Review №83

Fantastic Thai and Japanese food. Great environment, good service staff, lovely food.

Diner Review №84

I forget the name, but there is a guy Waiter Give him a raise like for real, give him one like right now he deserves it, he is the best employee you've got there. I see him I'm whipping around that place taking everybody's order doing his thing. Bring out the I wouldn't be surprised. If he's in the kitchen chefing it up right now.

Diner Review №85

We went to Mikado after several years and now I know that was the last time eating sushi Here.
The sushi rolls were subpar I would say supermarket grade ; the rice in them completely flavorless. Fish was not the freshest. I have incredibly sensitive palette and sense of smell. The fish did not smell but tasted bitter and was slimy in texture. Imagine fish being in the plastic wrap two days too long past the expiration date .
Not good at all.
The sushi rolls were falling apart.
They were not decorated. I mean sushi if Art. In form, taste and presentation.
Platter was not decorated at all. Little dot of wasabi enough for one person.
On top of everything it was served on
Plastic plates!! Yes!
Plastic plates for $100 worth of sushi.
This place is a pass for me and whomever is reading this should avoid it too!
There is plenty of other sushi options in this area
Oh and lastly tables were sticky.
I guess the only plus was the older lady greeting us with a huge smile and the waitress who was prompt and pleasant.
We won’t be coming back!

Diner Review №86

Very nice place. Had mostly starters - everything was delicious. Perfect for a date night. BYOB. Prices are good and affordable.

Diner Review №87

Diner Review №88

This is my favorite restaurant to eat at as far as the food goes. Softshell crabs are the best.

Diner Review №89

Such a cute restaurant. The atmosphere is very nice and the food is great.

We got the appetizer special that came with a summer roll, fried roll, dumplings (shumai) and chicken satay. All we’re delicious.

We then got the seafood wide noodle which was amazing! And they were able to provide hot chili on the side to make it even spicier.

Lastly, we got the sushi boat and it was good. The fish was fresh. The special roll they added was excellent. I wish there was a little less rice on the California rolls but that my opinion.

The service was fast and we didn’t wait long for our food.

Definitely recommend coming here for any type of outing.

Diner Review №90

Duck is by no means Peking style and is very dry. Sashimi is not as fresh as expected.

Diner Review №91

Disappointed. Bought pad Thai. By the time we got home, it was a block of pasta. My kiddo did not want it. Not much flavor. $11 for the pasta with no meat and $5 for 4 shrimps. That was excessive.

Diner Review №92

Diner Review №93

Had a sweet, parent date at this lively little sushi spot in Ardmore, PA. This Japanese-Thai fusion restaurant was a great half-n-half to satisfy our cravings--two entirely different vibes, their menu mixes spicy and fish sauce of Thai food with the fresh fish of Japanese cuisine. The flavor fusion is the perfect solution for the indecisive folks like me. In fact, it is so half and half the two sides of the store look entirely different with completely different vibes!

The staff was great. They were attentive and sweet. The sushi chefs were absolutely amazing. I was taking a little video of the set up when the one chef said "hi, Instagram!" and they all perked up and smiled and waved.

We ordered the papaya salad and tom yum for appetiser. It could have been much more spicy as we were expecting with authentic Thai food. For mains, we got the sashimi deluxe for two and the spider (soft shell crab) roll. The sashimi was chosen by the chefs and we definitely had our faves (basically everything from the middle). Next time we will order individual hand rolls/nigiri of the ones we liked.

Taste-wise, I would say it's 3/5. The staff was sweet and for me the star of the show--the people made it 5/5. And for this overall I give it a 4/5.

Diner Review №97

One of my favorite restaurants in Ardmore!

Delicious food; I highly recommend their sushi - although their entire menu is quite tasty. Friends have enjoyed lettuce wraps, poké bowls, fried rice, & other dishes here. The restaurant is also BYOB, which makes the dinner bill much more reasonable.

I’ve visited here many times and the service has always been fast & attentive, even during peak hours. Definitely worth checking this place out.

Diner Review №98

I've eaten here plenty of times and the food is usually really good. I ordered Spicy Noodles with Chicken. I was a bit disappointed that the noodles were salty. I would suggest they use low sodium Soy Sauce going forward.

Diner Review №99

Diner Review №100

Best Shrimp Tempura Udon!! The papaya salad and summer roll were delicious as well!

Diner Review №101

Super tasty place in Ardmore with fresh sushi hand rolled and very fresh seafood all around. I had an amazing fried calamari here and a great drunken seafood (drunken noodle at most Thai places) and my partner had an amazing duck dish and pad Thai. This place had been on my list for months and glad I finally got to visit, I'll definitely be back.

Diner Review №102

We dined in. It was delicious but I had called ahead 5 days in advance to confirm that food can be made vegetarian AND gluten free, as we had an allergy in our party. Unfortunately, this was not the case and my friend almost was served fish sauce and gluten in on soup. They were able to make my friend a rice dish, but moving forward, everyone in the restaurant should be aware of what can and can’t be accommodated.

Diner Review №103

The food is fresh and sooo good

Diner Review №104

Unpretentious but beautiful Thai restaurant and authentic Japanese sushi restaurant. Excellent fish, curries, and the best pad Thai in the region.

Diner Review №105

Total rip off , tried to order $100 worth of food online but their system wouldn’t allow me, so they wanted to charge me an extra $15 for doing it on the phone, bullS$it

Diner Review №106

I went with a good friend for lunch and we really enjoyed our meals. We are looking forward to going back soon.

Diner Review №107

Diner Review №108

Golden spot in ardmore area. They have great selections of sushi and thai food. My wife and I had lunch there, their thai beef salad was so good, albeit the dressing is overly sour for me! Chirashi bowl is equally good as well, this is out current to-go sushi in the area.

Diner Review №109

The Pad Thai is way too sweet, after 4 bites it’s like eating candy. The green curry is basic and lacks any complexity. The Philly roll is not good at all, it’s 85%+ cream cheese and what looks and tastes like sliced smoked salmon you’d put on a bagel. They use the wrong rice for sushi and you can tell once it’s in your mouth.

We ate about 20% of each dish and left the rest behind. This is the second time we’ve eaten here with similar results and that’s it for us. Pretty disappointing.

Diner Review №110

All around great. Service is fantastic. Food is great. Beautiful place.

Diner Review №111

Pleasant atmosphere. Good service. Food is excellent and consistent and nicely presented. Parking not a problem. Price is reasonable.

Diner Review №115

Incredible Thai food at fair prices. We ordered the Peking duck and Chicken Sate appetizers which I would order again! The spicy noodles with chicken was delicious as well and so was the Tom Yum Soup 😋 their hot green tea was delicious and made the meal even better

Diner Review №116

4.1/5
Rock Shrimp - battered and deep fried shrimp served with a gochujang aioli. The sauce was drizzled over but we asked for some more. Taste was really good but the batter could’ve been a little thinner.

Szechuan shrimp - served with rice but the dish was a little too sweet. Definitely not what we expected with a Szechuan dish but I can imagine why others might like it this way.

Red curry with chicken - the red curry was rich and decedent with loads of coconut milk. Once again, I can imagine some folks might like it this way, however the coconut milk diluted the strong flavors I’ve come to expect from a Thai red curry.

Diner Review №117

Consistently excellent, whether Thai or sushi.

Diner Review №119

Diner Review №120

Overall, great restaurant and service. I called ahead to inform the staff of my boyfriend's birthday for the special occasion. The host assured me that she noted it. However, no one knew, and I had to say something to the server. Otherwise, I would have given 5 stars but had to give only 4 stars.

My friend and I went here for dinner on a Friday with a reservation so that we can sit in their nice dining area. When we got there, the server didn’t even acknowledge that we had a reservation and just walked us to a random table close to the bathroom, which is totally not what we wanted. Not worth making a reservation in advance cause it wouldn’t count anyway. The food is okay but this totally ruined our experience.

Diner Review №147

We came here for an end of week date night. We used to come here years ago, and were expecting similar high quality that we experienced in the past. The wings were very dry and difficult to eat, but the sauce on them tasted good. The Thai beef salad was amazing, and was the best part of the night. I highly recommend this dish. We ordered the philly roll, shrimp tempura roll, and one of the specialty rolls. All of the rolls were very bland. I wouldn't recommend any of the ones we tried, and was a big let down from what we typically have. The service was good, as was the ambiance. I wouldn't recommend for a date night, but I might return to give them another try with different rolls.

Diner Review №148

I tried this place because of the reviews. The staff seem nice but I only did take-out so can’t speak fully on their level of customer service. I ordered the Philly roll, tuna avocado and eel roll and the seaweed salad + the pad Thai.

The sushi was horrible probably the worst sushi I ever had. The sushi didn’t smell too fresh but I still tried it. None of the rolls taste good. The seaweed salad was good

The pad thai was really bad too. The chicken is dry, too much sauce so the noodles are soggy and it taste like they put honey or sugar in the pad thai.

Very disappointed but this happens when you try a new place. I personally like flavor in my food and sushi shouldn’t be hard to mess up but it didn’t taste like anything but rice. I would never try this place again.

Diner Review №149

I've been wanting to try this place for a long time. I finally placed an order last night for pick up. Unfortunately, the chicken teriyaki was so minimal and too dry and tough to eat. We also ordered the lemon grass soup, which the smell and taste was so awful. Lastly ordered the chicken spring rolls which were okay, however the sauce was watery and not appetizing. I'm very disappointed, complete waste of $33! 😖

Diner Review №161

Diner Review №162

Very nice restaurant with great food and friendly staff. Food has a lot of great, deep flavor, and the curry is bright and fresh. You'll need to order it extra spicy to get real heat, but at the end of the day they are a family restaurant trying to satisfy the most palettes, so the spice level gets a pass from me. Awesome place!

I’ve been coming here for years and I think it’s one of the best Thai restaurants in this area. Plus you can get Japanese which is really good here as well

Diner Review №179

Ordered green curry salmon, shrimp/veg tempura, and thai iced tea. All of this food had some of the best flavor in the area. Tempura was perfect and sauce was light and complimentary. Curry had about 100 noticeable flavors, all in perfect harmony. Cant wait to dine in and try the sushi among other things.

Diner Review №180

Sashimi is super fresh. Price is higher than other places, which arguably is justified as sashimi pieces are also bigger and the location is more premium. While this is a good option, I tend to stick to more affordable sushi places with similar quality.

Diner Review №181

Diner Review №182

Nice service

Diner Review №183

You can only get a few things on the menu. The meals, especially the pad thai meals are very salty and and way to saucy. I recommend anyone to stick to the starters or sushi. The sweet chili wings are delicious and the shrimp dumplings are great. All the fried rice are good as well. The rock shrimp tempura is very soggy. I'm thinking it would have been crispy being as though it is fried.

Diner Review №184
