Veg Basil Fried Rice was amazing. Plenty of veges and well cooked with balanced flavors.
Garlic sautéed veges was also really good. Really yummy.
Vegan Pad Thai was a bit liquidy and soupy. But still had enough veges and. Crunchy peanuts.

Not sure why the server was disgruntled. She felt sulking when we made a couple changes to our order and gave us looks when we asked for water to fill our bottles. We praised the dishes but still that didn’t bring a smile on her face. Maybe it was their closing time and she’s the owner so can afford!

But still - great food and highly recommend. Nice clean restrooms also.

They have a small vegan section on the menu. Would be amazing to have a vegan curry option. Beautiful presentation and clean dining rooms. Had a Thai iced tea with coconut milk and fresh rolls. Recommend to add tofu to the fresh rolls and to the rice.

Take out can be tricky trying to keep it all hot! Everything was great. The salt & pepper calamari were fried the right way. The wings were tasty. The Chicken Basil & the fried pork was really well made. The only downfall was not enough rice. They are one of the few places that actually do the spiciness right.

The most disappointing dish is Tom Yan Kong, we also add 2 extra dollars for the pot to keep it warm, but extremely useless. Lack of multiple flavors in it, such as Lemon grass and basil. We ordered seafood Tom Yan and is nearly 25 dollars, but I doubt the seafood like shrimp and mussel are all frozen. The combination of the soup is like frozen cooking packages, with unflavored seafood. Once again, huge disappointment, the only thing that’s normal is the Thai Milk tea. I’m curious of how can you lack of so many flavors for the food you recommend on your menu even with a high price (Tom Yang)? Hope you make some changes then I might consider to change my review. By the way, the server who served our table is nice a friendly.

Unique to this establishment is that their curries do not have egg plant in them. The green curry did have green squash, green beans, tomatoes, broccoli, basil, baby corn, and carrots.
All vegetables were fresh.. As the photos show, the presentation is lovely. Splitting the meal with my wife, the 3 items were very filling.
The bathroom (single stall) is clean and the coolest (temp wise) place in the restaurant. I enjoyed seeing a diverse group of cultures in the restaurant today. This establishment is a good runner up to our favorite in Salem... but everyone's taste is slightly different.

We tried the yellow curry with sweet potato and veggie lovers stir fry, both with chicken. I know it sounds like hyperbole, but it was definitely the best Thai food I'd ever had, by far.

I ordered the yellow curry medium spicy and it was perfect for me--- I like spicy, but I don't think I'd want it any hotter. They had a large order on the drink menu, including mixed drinks. We didn't try any. They also had many vegan and vegetarian options.

It's a modest little Thai restaurant, with inexpensive but tasteful decor. Soft, quiet minimalist ambient music playing in the background. And the final surprise? It was really inexpensive. Two full meals with a pot of tea was less than $30!

I love this place! It's my boyfriend and I's new favorite Thai restaurant. The food was all very fresh and delicious. Prices are reasonable and so are the portions. We can't wait to come back and try the other dishes. The red curry is so good!

My wife and I have ordered takeout from Royal Thai since they first opened. I've been in Salem for some time now, having spent time in the Bay Area, Portland, and Seattle. Royal Thai competes with the best of them.

I will say we have never dined in, but the takeout has always tasted amazing, fresh, and the service is fast and pleasant. The portions for the price are almost unbeatable.

Don’t order the soup without asking for noodles! It’s absurd that you have to ask for noddle for a pho soup but I guess that how it is here. When I called to inquire they were rude about it. Don’t bother with this place!

Me & my friend got THE WORST food poisoning from the Pad Thai. Wont be graphic but both of us were sick for about 2 WEEKS. Wish I could give this horror show a ZERO star review.

I've come here with my grandparents often and had received great service but recently I went with just me and my daughter and when I entered I was asked "What do you want" after 5 minutes of waiting to be seated while the restaurant was mostly empty and for the rest of the time I was there I was treated very poorly. This was the same server as with my grandparents, I'm not sure what her problem was.

We love going to Royal Thai Kitchen. One of the owners know my nieces by name and always come out to say hello and talk with them. Whenever we order takeout the food is ready on time and hot!

This place is great. We tried several dishes and all came out piping hot, with great flavor. The service was prompt and friendly. The restaurant is clean and an overall nice place for a relatively quick bite that’s not too pricey.

This is our go to Thai spot in Salem. We’ve tried nearly all of the Thai spots in Salem and this one is by far the best we’ve found! Their yellow curry and drunken noodles are so good, comforting and have good flavor.

Chicken wings were a bunch of little pieces. While more than six pieces not the same as six nice wings.
The half duck was two hind quarters. Not a half duck - no breast. Somewhat overcooked & dry.
Overall disappointing portions though exceedingly tasty. They need to execute as advertised.

This place is amazing. We've done takeout but finally dined inside tonight. Best Thai food in town! Their curry is too die for. The duck was excellent. Definitely need to try this place if you haven't, it will not disappoint!

We ordered the green papaya salad and cashew stir fry. Both were presented beautifully.
The portions are on the small side, but tasty. There were very few peanuts on the salad, or cashews on the stir fry, which was disappointing. But we will probably return, because the food was fresh and yummy.

Such good food! We have been looking for a superlative Thai place and this little place might be it. We ordered a variety and had a gluten free friend who was pleasantly surprised by how much she could have there. Great Tom Kha, cashew stir fry, curry- drunken noodles were the only less than perfect, with soggy noodles and little in the way of meat or veggies, but still tasted yummy. Looking forward to going back to try the Thai coffee, fried sweet potatoes dredged in coconut and the pumpkin curry.

I wasn't real hungry but wanted a little something, so I decided to give Royal Thai a try. I ordered their pattaya dangerous wings and fresh summer rolls. Absolutely delicious! The spring rolls were crisp and fresh tasting, and the sauces were the perfect accompaniment. The wings were nicely coated and crispy, and were SLATHERED in a mouthwatering thick, spicy, sweet sauce! If this is any indication of how tasty the entrees are, I will 100% be going back! Go getcha some! 😋

We have been coming here since they opened. This is not only my favorite Thai restaurant, but probably my favorite restaurant in general. Great selection of food and drinks, and 10/10 service.

Absolutely loved dining here ! Their Thai food is delicious, especially the Salad Rolls and Yaksobi Noodles. The Thai curry was a standout dish. Plus, the restaurant is very clean, making for a pleasant dining experience overall.

Oh. My. Goodness. I randomly happened on this place when browsing Google for a place to have dinner with my wife. Let's just say that we hit the jackpot! The service is amazing, the prices are right, and the food is some of the best you'll find in Salem. We started by sharing a bowl of chicken dumpling soup, which was incredible. My favorite kind of soup is pho, but this was definitely right up there with it. For her main entree, my wife ordered the Thai garlic chicken. I ordered the crispy chicken and basil. Both were absolutely amazing. Our only regret is that we haven't come here sooner. We will definitely be back again and often!

Late post: However, Best Thai restaurant in town so far to celebrate our Valentines day night out. Love our waitress, she was very attentive, kind, and friendly. She always had a smile. She pointed out and recommended that our choice was one of her favorite (Papaya shrimp salad). The chef sauces and entrees were made wonderfully great and delicious to me and my husband’s taste as it wasn’t too spicy or too hot to our taste buds. As a person who can’t eat spicy food, this place understands me. We love the food that we’ve chosen to order and the ambiance was comfortingly sweet and nice.

Today I picked up my lunch of curry puffs and Basil Chicken. It was ready early, tasty, great portions. I got medium heat and it was just perfect; enough to get my nose running but not enough to burn out my taste buds. I have also had their pad thai, wonton soup, and several appetizers. The quality has been consistent each time.

The food was absolutely delicious. Be wary of the spice if you're like me. But probably the best Thai food I've had in Salem.

The best Thai food I have ever had. I eat here about once a week either by dine in, take out, or delivery. Every dish I have tried is incredible. My favorites are the Pra Ram and Pad Thai. Don’t let the outside of the building fool you, this place is delicious and the staff are always kind and welcoming. Sadly, I am moving and will not be able to eat here anymore. This restaurant is the only thing I will miss about Salem.

My husband and I are always kindly welcomed in and receive excellent service by the owner. Going out to eat at Royal Thai is something we always look forward to. Ordered the Thai dumpling soup and Mango with sticky rice. The soup was very fresh and wholesome. Nice sized veggies and the broth was smooth. The sticky rice with mango was very good. The rice tasted like with was infused with jasmine and lavender. The place is small but they still maintain a relaxed chill environment. I would Recommend stopping in here if you are in the area. Service was pretty quick as well. The only feedback I have is change how the menu is priced. It’s a little confusing to know how much your order will be for some items.

Their food can be made gluten free, while they don’t have a gf menu, there are many options. I was really happy to head their pad kee mao was gf AND tasted so good. They have a vegan menu and I expect I will be trying more things. Every dish I’ve seen come out has looked very tasty.

SERVICE:
I have been a few times now and people have been consistently kind. The service is great and the food comes out in a timely manner and hot.

ATMOSPHERE:
Pretty low key vibes, the space is clean, cozy, and there are different seating options.

OTHER:
There is parking, a bar, they have take out options, conveniently located, and just overall a great experience. Will absolutely return and will continue to recommend.

My friends and I had the crab & cream cheese puffs, curry puffs, pad kee mao / drunken noodles, pad Thai and panang curry - with duck as a protein option! The curry puffs were perfectly flaky and had enough filling. Pad kee mao and pad Thai noodles were cooked well and had just the right amount of sauce - I’ve had dishes before that were underwhelming, and some with sauces that were overly salty.
All dishes were so flavorful and the portion sizes were very much so worth the price! I was not disappointed with the spice also - their medium spicy was actually spicy.
Customer service was a little slow, but well worth having the patience. One of our orders was also mixed up with another dish, but our server was quick to bring out the correct dish and she was very kind.

Food was all great and had good flavor and spice regardless of the spice level 😺👍 great service and a calm environment, prices were amazing for how filling their food is!

Had their chili duck, pumpkin curry beef, and mango sticky rice. The chili duck was really good. The pumpkin curry just ok. But their mango sticky rice is the best I’ve ever had anywhere. It’s purple sticky rice with some mint flavor and smells. Best Thai in Salem for sure.

The atmosphere is nice inside. They have a bar area to the right with a couple of chairs if you happen to come solo and tables setup to the left that can sit a couple or family. The pork belly was crisp and delicious. The vegetables were cooked perfectly, not soggy. The mango sticky rice was absolutely the best I’ve ever had so far. They use purple sticky rice and cut fresh mango over the top. The sauce they drizzle says coconut but it has flavors of jasmine. It’s so good. They also serve a small selection of delicious boozy drinks :} I highly recommend this restaurant.

Exceptional food and service. Hands down the best peanut sauce and yellow curry in Salem by far. Everything we ordered was delicious. The basil eggplant was exceptional and I could literally bathe in the curry noodle soup. The puffs are so light and crisp and the chicken satay nom nom nom. So much love and attention in this place. I asked the owner and her chef to prepare the food like food from Thailand. And yes, they were happily and enthusiastically preparing the dishes for us. We ordered Shrimp Som Tom and Pad Ka Prow with Crispy Pork Belly. They were delicious! The flavor was spot on, fresh ingredients, aromatic herbs and very well presented. Salem is so lucky to have another authentic Thai restaurant. We will go back and try more Thai dishes there 🙏

We had the mixed appetizer plate, shrimp papaya salad, chicken pumpkin 🍛 Curry, drunkin' noodles with seafood and crispy chicken 🐔 with seafood! OMG! It's was all perfect and we have enough food for another meal.

Spice level was a bit higher than most, so be aware if you're sensitive. Service was fast, accurate and pleasant. Would definitely go back in the future!

Another great meal at Royal Thai restaurant. We're big fans of their Cashew Chicken Stir Fry but there's several good choices including vegan options.

We've also had the "Pattaya Dangerous" chicken wings which were delicious (and a bargain). Highly recommend.

BEST THAI FOOD IN OREGON! The food is so fresh and so delicious! I'm so happy I found this place since moving to Oregon from California. The owner is super sweet and kind and always greets us with a smile. The servings are very healthy and I always feel so good after eating here. The pad thai isn't oily and the curry dishes have so much flavor and perfect level of spice! The freshness and authenticity of the ingredients really come through in all the dishes, and the cook is just amazing at their craft! I eat here all the time and the food is consistently always the same--DELICIOUS!

Our family group of eight has been eating Thai food in Salem for almost two decades. Our favorite Thai restaurant changed ownership during the pandemic and the food’s quality and quantity decreased while the prices increased. Other Thai restaurants were disappointing until yesterday, when we ordered takeout food from the Royal Thai Kitchen. We have found a new favorite! Portions and prices were good and—most important—all agreed that the food was excellent. We had the Pad Thai, Green Curry (too hot for me but others liked it), Drunken Udon Noodles, Sweet and Sour Stir-fry, Thai Garlic (my favorite) and Fresh Ginger. We highly recommend the Royal Thai Kitchen.

Usually I'm pretty picky about Asian food/food in general but this was a good choice. I ordered the drunken noodle (it's got a kick, so beware if you don't like spicy) and the crab/cheese ragoon things. The crab ragoons were a different shape than usual and I wish they were a little more crunchy. But I appreciated the home made twist on them.

This little restaurant is a true gem of a place. My daughter and I accidentally stumbled upon it and couldn’t have been happier. The young, enthusiastic owners show their love of Thai cooking and genuine hospitality to every guest coming in the door. Having traveled extensively in Thailand, I can attest to the authenticity of their beautifully crafted dishes and really enjoyed our evening there. WE WILL RETURN! They have only been in business a few months, so everyone needs to try them out and help them be successful!!

We were delighted to find this little gem of a restaurant in Salem while we were attending the Farmhouse Show. We’ve spent time in Thailand and found the flavors and creativity in that country was well represented here. The food smelled amazing as it cooked and it tasted equally good. My mom and I shared the Green Papaya salad with shrimp and the clay pot shrimp chef special. The shrimp were huge! Absolutely delicious! We will be back next time.

So we had all but given up on good Thai food in South Salem, then these lovely people bought and re-opened Royal Thai Kitchen. It is delicious, we are trying everything on the menu, one at a time, and so far it has all been so good. Best Thai food in town! Everything is amazing! Always get the Curry Puffs because they are perfect everytime. So puffy and flaky with an amazing filling. If you like spice ask for the spice caddy. Thai coffee & Thai iced tea are both tasty and sweet. A+ Favorite Thai in Salem.

Tried Royal Thai for the first time tonight - delicious! Service was great, handled dietary restrictions perfectly. Food was fresh and flavorful. The cashew nut stir fry with shrimp and the pineapple fried rice were highlights.

Ordered The Yakisoba And It was so Good My Broke Butt now is working here....Long story short it's not just for the free food and amazing bosses.

This place was pleasant. I had the yellow curry, theirs is pretty close to massaman, quite tasty and I love the little flower they made from a carrot. Their prices are pretty good and the service is fantastic. Also, they have very good Thai tea

We enjoyed a delicious take-out dinner last night. I had the Tom Kha soup and it was so wonderful. Loved the smooth texture of the broth and all the flavors! My husband and friend enjoyed their meals too. We also loved the spring rolls. The dessert was a wonderful surprise and free with our order (tapioca with coconut milk and jack fruit). We had never tried it before and it was so great. Our order was all ready when I arrived! Furthermore, everything we chose was in the order! Hurray! We have done a lot of take-out in recent months and I have been so discouraged about the number of times our order is wrong or incomplete. Your food is amazing and your service is excellent! We will be back!

Had lunch there with friends for first time. Good, fresh food, prepared in a surprisingly attractive way for a little restaurant. Will go there again. Made reservation for my small group of friends using Google Assistant for first time, and the table was all prepared for us. They even have a separate menu page for vegan selections.

Amazing amazing amazing! Crab and cream cheese wontons are a perfect appetizer, green curry was creamy, rich and perfectly spiced! Basil fried rice with chicken has a sweet and spicy mix and the portion size is tremendous.

Ordered takeout for our first visit to Royal Thai Kitchen. Very delicious and authentic Thai food! Prices are reasonable and the host/waitress at the front was very kind and hospitable when I picked up the food. Everything was fresh, hot, and delicious. The Royal Thai appetizer was very tasty and the fried items were crispy and delectable. The satay was to die for. I also ordered Thai basil with chicken and it was so satisfyingly sweet, well flavored, and scrumptious. I didn’t love the Sizzling Beef, but will be returning to order and try different dishes in the future.

This is not your average Thai restaurant. Not only the food but the presentation is a cut above.

We couldn’t choose what we wanted so ordered 4 meals for just 2 of us, but thoroughly enjoyed having bites of so many delicious items! We had green curry with beef pineapple rice with chicken, pad kee mao with shrimp and the lamb shank which came with rice and roti. The atmosphere was nice and the restaurant was clean. The server was helpful and kind. We will be back soon with friends and do our best to convince them to eat family style so we can try even more delicious dishes!

Super impressed with their take out! The lunch special is a great price for plenty of food, and it was delicious. We got panang curry, pad Thai, and pad see ew. Cute atmosphere too when I picked up the food. They also have a fun lemonade that I’ve never heard of, but was also yummy! Try them out, you won’t be disappointed! I wanted to do delivery but it wasn’t set up yet, and it was worth the 15 minute drive to pick up! Thank you!
