Since 1999, Thai Peacock has satisfied Portland's palate. With emphasis on merging Pacific Northwest tastes and homestyle dishes of our past, we offer a fresh take on Thai comfort food. Our goal is simple: provide delicious, affordable fare that patrons will enjoy everyday.
Unique & tasty Thai food! The house sampler is a must-try for a great intro to their appetizers. Crab Rangoon is prepared differently here (breading wasn't my fave). Egg noodles with shrimp (shells included, not my preference) still tasted good. Loved the classic fried rice with minced chicken – a delicious first! Worth a try, especially for the appetizers.
Food was delicious. My only complaint was the music was too loud and didn’t suit the environment. But everything else was great. My friend and I are vegans and there were plenty of options. I had the yellow curry this time. I’ve eaten here twice with her and both times the food was good. I got both tofu and extra veggies this time because the last time the veggies were scarce. That also would be a constructive criticism, more veg in their vegan dishes. There were plenty when I ordered extra and it was only $2 more
My partner and I stopped into this restaurant after a rainy hike here in Portland. We were seated right away and ordered relatively quickly. We started off with the tofu spring rolls and the papaya salad, both of which were incredible and very fresh and flavorful. These two dishes were extremely enjoyable, and I would absolutely order again without a doubt.
We then each got an order of the khao soi or tofu curry noodles, which is one of our favorite Thai dishes. Only one order came out, and we waited for over 10 minutes before flagging down the waitress to see where the other order was. It turns out they had forgotten the second order, which was a little annoying, but it came out maybe five minutes later. I don’t typically like to eat while my partner hasn’t gotten his food, so I waited, and unfortunately, my food was cold by the time I started to eat. In addition to that, there wasn’t a lot of broth in the curry noodles, which is in my opinion the best part. The dish was actually quite good, I just wish our food had come out at the same time and that there was more broth.
Overall, we quite enjoyed this place and would definitely come back and maybe try some different dishes. If you’re in the Portland area and enjoy quality Thai food, we recommend trying this place, especially if you’re vegetarian.
The reviews are right on the money.
This is the most upscale Thai food I’ve ever had, and it opened my eyes to a whole new take on Thai dining. The Pad Thai felt more “intentionally crafted” than any I’ve had before (which I know sounds super lame but I genuinely don’t have better words for it), and the side of the Thai Peacock Panang Curry was incredible as well.
Absolutely thrilled with my choice to come in!
Food was delicious and affordable. I didn’t like the pork belly, but they switched me for tofu which was as expected. Place is very cute, lady servers were grumpy and looked like they hated their day, they gave us instructions on where to go but didn’t even guide us. The waiting area is tiny but they had a heater above the door which made it nice. They have upstairs seating too. Don’t forget the chili tray.
Note: Don’t blame me that I didn't warn you! usually leave positive reviews for restaurants, but let me tell you about this one. The waiter had such a terrible attitude and was rude to me. One of our order was messed up, the food was overly salty, and we couldn't even eat it all. And yet, somehow this place has a 4.5-star rating? Give me a break, Oregon!
My hotel recommended this place. I was craving something authentically Thai. With the flavour profile of sweet sour salty spicy and sometimes bitter. What I received. Was very bland farang food. That was so salty. No acid no spice at all. I was so disappointed then I found out via other tables that the waiter would ask them spice level. I was never given that option. So all my food was so mild like you would give it to a baby. I was really looking forward to this place based on recommendations. Such a bummer.
I had the Tom yum. Which looked so watery. It did not have the intense red/orange colour. I asked the waitress why was it such a salt bomb. She replied. Too spicy for you? I responded. I tasted no spice. But I realized later on. That they assumed that I wanted. Mild for everything. This was probably the worst tasting Tom yum I ever had. It did not taste. Authentic.
I also had larb. Which is one of my favorite things Thai. At my favorite restaurants that serve it. It is always spicy. Here at peacock. There was no spice. At all.
Delicious food , I recommend the hat Yai chicken Dewy the manager is excellent . I highly recommend coming here for great Thai cuisine .
Food at Thai peacock was amazing, my friends visit from California every so often and we always go back because it’s top tier. Probably the best Thai food I’ve ever had.
Delicious! Maybe my favorite Thai spot in all of Portland! Also with excellent and flavorful vegetarian options. Definitely recommend!
Best Thai in Portland! Amazing drinks!
Food is so soo good. I haven't eaten anything like it before and I have been to numerous thai restaurants before.
delish garlic fried rice, tasty trout
Brilliant atmosphere, great food, and top notch service. This is a gem in Portland and one that never gets old. Do yourself a favor and check it out!

Thai Peacock makes the best fried rice ever, but if you're a vegetarian and you don't live right next door, be careful.
They get your order wrong a lot (meaning they add meat) if you order a veggie dish, which is hard to deal with if you live farther away and can't drive back to get your order rectified.
Honestly, this is kind an issue all over Portland so it's not all on Thai Peacock. People just need to pay more attention to ensure they're not adding meat when someone orders the no meat version that is an option on their own menu.
The Matsaman Curry was amazing.
My friends and me got sick after had dinner there. We omitted and diarrhea almost the whole night. The food must go bad💀. I’m curious how many people got sick these days because of the bad food. You made big trouble. 👿 food poisoning. Who can tell me what can I do. Has anyone contacted the restaurant and reported it to the related departments? Like FDA, USDA, FSIS? We are waiting your response!

#43 was gassssssssss
Some of the best Thai in Portland
I’ve gone on 2 different occasions and tried different curries with the pork belly and chicken. Both were pretty dry and chewy. Every else about the dish was flavorful.
The reviews are right on the money.

I was surprised at how good it was! I ordered from the Comfort menu, pad se-ew with pork loin ($15 menu). Good flavor and a surprising amount of juicy, thick pork pieces. Less expensive, generous meat, and better tasting than a take-out spot near my home. The lychee hibiscus juice wasn't too sweet, and they let me try a little before ordering. Love the warm, cozy interior. It'd be hard to find a spot at peak meal hours though (only 6 tables that seat 4 each), unless they open the front area that has smaller tables. Will definitely come again :)
Today is a sad day for me my friends. I used to love Thai Peacock and occasionally get the Pad Thai whenever I needed a pick me up. However, last Sunday, everything changed. My friend and I ordered pad Thai and golden noodles with chicken and immediately after were horribly food poison. It was not anything else we ate I already went through all options because my mind could not accept being betrayed by one of my favorite dishes. But alas, it’s true. We both spent all night throwing up ( I will spare you the graphic details) - I have never been so food poisoned in my life, it was horrible.
While we got a refund, the damage was done. I hope this was just a fluke, but it was a pretty devastating one. Perhaps the chicken wasn’t cooked thoroughly? Maybe you should consider getting a vegetarian dish. RIP my love for Thai Peacock. Perhaps one day I can eat pad Thai again but for now I’m so traumatized I won’t touch the stuff. Nothing pains me more than to write this review! :(
They have great pad kee mao and Singha beer on draft. You can tell they have well seasoned woks because the noodles are just cooked to perfection. I got the extra spicy and it was a pleasant level of heat.
Food is decent just watch for spice level.
this place would merit a five star review from me and quick like easily accept for one exception. being a local and ten+ year customer i must say: two or three nights a week the b-team cook is running things and he is no chef. indeed, it often seems to be deliberate 'mistakes'. potato/carrot in curries are totally raw- not crispy w/ some life left in them...like a ten second boil raw. the crispy trout? my favorite? dressed upside down every time (skin on top not only gross but flipping it loses all of the sweet house mayonnaise). order mild jungle rice? it's going to burn your grill off. can't say which days but usually not weekends. i'm just saying this place kills it but on those off nights? you'll leave a bad review, too. do you hear me, guys? that cook can't be that cool.....
The food was sooo delicious. 100 % recommended.
Note: Don’t blame me that I didn't warn you! usually leave positive reviews for restaurants, but let me tell you about this one. The waiter had such a terrible attitude and was rude to me. Best Pad Thai I’ve had with amazing service.
kind service, delicious food (i had Golden Noodle), good portions and prices, all gender restroom, etc.
One of the best Thai restaurants we've eaten at in a long time. Food was very good and wait staff was quite accommodating. Would highly recommend.
We ordered via delivery service both nights we were in Portland. Everything we ordered was excellent. Would highly recommend.

So good 😊
Great vegetarian options. Reasonable price, and authentic taste.
If only my stomach were twice it's size! Such amazing food, the trout dish, the crab ragoons the Tom Kha and the Thai coffee, my goodness! I'd eat it every single day! Extremely high compliments to the chefs and waitresses!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
They hung up the phone on me and my wife 3 times, so we ordered online, we saw the great ratings.
We were very dissatisfied with the food, we are huge fans of Thai. We got pad Thai and it had a very odd fermented sour taste to it, and we got the golden noodle which tasted very dry and unflavored.
Really not sure why the great reviews but for us, the customer service was meh and the food was worse.
Pretty good Thai food close to my home. Fairly reliable.
My favorite Thai. I frequently weekly.
If I recall correctly, I got a Groupon or something similar, and it turned out to be a great decision. Thai food=comfort food. I ordered Khao Soi (Thai Coconut Curry Noodle Soup).
Service was fast, food was all cooked well. I got 25. House Curry with pork belly, textures were great but flavor fell flat. Overall felt more like a cafeteria than a restaurant.
Delicious food with fast friendly service.
Very good place. Good food. I had salmon fried rice with Thai iced tea, and it was very nice. I will be back for sure.
Food was delicious and affordable. I didn’t like the pork belly, but they switched me for tofu which was as expected. I got the house made curry with pork belly and a lychee daiquiri. Both were amazing. As someone who loves lychee, you could really taste it in the drink. I also let the intrusive thoughts win and ordered the Thai tea cake to go because I wasn’t hungry enough to eat it there but wanted to try. It was also a complete hit— does this place miss?
Food was great (had the Pad Phet) and the Thai Aviation was very tasty.
Sorry to say it didn't hit the mark with us. And sadly we ate at their kiosk shop and their food and service was amazing. First of the pretty girl who was serving us her demeanor seemed to greatly change when we asked if all of their curries are spicy almost felt lokr we were insulting the establishment by even asking the question. I ordered it anyway, and the taste was not bad at all but I literally had to pull all of the items out of the broth due to how spicy it was (and that was the mild) The meatballs appetizer was very good probably the best dish. My fiance ordered the garlic fried rice with the pineapple braised pork. The meal was ok but definitely far below all the great Thai restaurants in PDX. The service was sub par at best.
Best Thai food I’ve ever had
Really good food and amazing drinks
Good food, authentic art caught my eye.
If you go to this restaurant dine in. It has beautiful art, great staff willing to work for you not just get the food. Also the dining is better up away from the inner city, less problem from the homeless people in the area
Delicious, fresh and perfectly seasoned Thai food.
그냥 맛난 한끼 먹어요. 미국은 어디든 다 불친절. 그래도 맛없고 불친절한 것보단 낫잖아요
so yum, kinda expensive.
Ordered takeout. Just not good. No flavor, just bad
Amazing food and service
Food was delicious
This is some of the best pad Thai I’ve ever had. It had complexity of flavor, a little Smokey, salty, umami, touch sweet, perfect ratio of veggie and protein, and with a hint of lime. Perfect. Gyoza are good too.
Nice location near other things to do, order ahead so you don’t have to park long (not a lot of great options for parking)
Eating here made me want to move to Portland.
The crispy trout was AMAZING. Reasonably priced as well
Toll!
Love the crying tiger! The service and atmosphere are superb
Service was strangely biased (e.g. reverse discrimination). Nothing provoked from my side, but my Asian friend was treated respectfully. Too much stupid going at this place with forced bad behavior by the waitress/server as though I was the problem. Could be coaching from the mgmt to behave in this way to make it seem like the customer was a problem. Unless you want to conduct a social experiment or be a part of their experiment, I'd NOT recommend this place but rather suggest going to other Thai restaurants in the area that have better behavior to customers.
Wow! Probably the best yellow curry I’ve ever had! Highly recommend this place especially if you’re from out of town!
Food was delicious!
Attitude of the servers were so rude!
Ordered the vegetarian spring rolls, cocktails and green curry! The worst Thai food I’ve ever eaten. The service was so bad, the waitress could barely understand what I asked her. The spring rolls were soo oily, when I took a bite, there were drops of oil spilling everywhere. The green curry was ok, the tofu wasn’t cooked very well and the rice was bad.
Crispy fish!! I also had noodles pad see so delicious. I’ll be craving it and will be back
You can't eat inside when it's empty if you order food online
First time being in Portland, I stopped at a brewery near by for a pint. I asked the bartender if she had any recommendations on food near by. This place was mentioned and was highly regarded. We decided to give it a shot. Food was by far the best Thai food I have had, a little light on spice from what I’m used to but I bet you could ask for the food to be spicy. 10/10 I would stop here next time I’m in town.
The Thai curry I ordered was extremely salty and ruined the dining experience. I had to seek another Thai spot for dinner.
One of the top Thai restaurants in the Portland area! I’ve never had a dish that I didn’t like from this restaurant. Everything is well-seasoned, flavorful, and cooked to perfection.
I frequently try Thai restaurants and find other places have dry fried rice and noodles or the food is bland- Not here! I always come back for the garlic fried rice. It’s delicious!
The service is excellent and the ambiance is lovely. Very clean and visually appealing. The cocktail menu offers some unique and lively selections.
The parking can be rough in this area, as expected with most downtown locations.
Some highlight dishes:
Crispy trout!!! So good! Must try!
Golden noodles
Garlic Fried Rice
Braised Pineapple Pork
All the small plates are great and I appreciate the ‘House Combo’ because you can sample them all.
Excellent selections, quality, service, and atmosphere.
We had the garlic fried rice and salmon and the curry egg noodles with shrimp. So delicious!!!! We also had a mango iced tea and the lychee hibiscus iced tea. So refreshing and reasonably priced. We'll definitely dine here again!
Food came out very fast and was good. But halfway through my meal my cup slipped out of my hand dumping all down my left side it was upsetting but my own fault what really ruined my experience was that 3 waitresses walked past me multiple times looking and walking by.
This was my first time visiting this restaurant, recommended by a friend. The food was just okay—I've had better Pad Khi Mao and Pad Thai at other Thai spots. Unfortunately, the waiter seemed irritated and didn't greet us or even smile, which gave off a really bad vibe. Despite the nice atmosphere and great location, I wouldn’t recommend this place.
Definitely worth the hype! Didn’t wait or anything and the service was quick and friendly ! Not sure if I’d necessarily wait a while to go in but that’s cause I’m impatient 😋 food and atmosphere great 😊
Taste was good, but not very authentic. Restaurant is really small and pretty loud, but has a nice vibe. It was pretty busy, especially for a Thursday evening. Biggest disappointment was how offputting the server was. Felt completely disrespected and like I was wasting her time for being there. I want to give it another try sometime, just not sure when since there are so many other thai restaurants with good food.
Waiter Rudely asked me why I wasn’t tipping…was really weird.
My pad kee mao and my partner's fried rice was so incredibly salty. I think the kee mao was super reheated to the point that biting into a cherry tomato was scalding. The crispy trout is over breaded and just ok. So not too blown away on the food -- what I am confused and disturbed by is the storage of beer kegs in the bathroom. Hopefully these are empty, but if not, that can't be sanitary.
Been here multiple times. Curry, fried rice, pad Thai, papaya salad is amazing. I don’t think you can go wrong with anything you order here. Always have been seated very fast. One of my favorite spots in portland.
Pad Thai and Crispy Trout was fantastic. Good thai milk tea too. Not a fan of the pineapple pork, was a bit bland/dry.
The food is some of the best Thai food I’ve had in Portland. There is a wide range of spice options, whether you like it mild or super hot (:
I went into this Thai restaurant without knowing anything about it. I tried their Pad Thai first with the salmon. Soo good, then I tried it with the crispy trout and I’m in love 😍. It’s soo good, it’s literally enough to take some home for left overs. Im never disappointed everytime that I get it. Now I can say this Thai spot moved from my #2 favorite to my #1 favorite Thai spot in Portland and yes I’ve tried a few spots before and after coming here. I honestly can’t get enough. I need it like once a week to satisfy that “Thai tooth” (just made this up lol gonna start saying that now)
Our pad se-ew smelled great and tbh tasted good until we realized there was meat in our tofu pad se-ew.
Curry was also very spicy compared to past experiences here.
Great tasting Thai food and reasonable prices!
Thai Peacock is a fine Thai restaurant. It was recommended so highly to us, I guess I was just expecting more. The food was good, but there was no "hotness" to my spicy noodle dish. To be honest, it was kind of bland. It was well cooked and there was a large portion. I would try it again, but would make sure to ask for the food to be a little spicy. But, before I do that, to be honest, I'll try some other places first.
Just to be clear, the people that work there are super nice and very accommodating. It gets great reviews so maybe it was just off for me?
Stopped here for dinner before a movie, and it was the Thai restaurant I've been hoping to find in a long time. Inventive, yet traditional. The atmosphere feels very Portland. The stir fried vegetables (#37) with pork belly were delicious, and the pad thai was one of the best we've had. The prices were very reasonable.
Incredibly tasty food, quick and friendly service. We had the papaya salad and the crispy trout for starters, the garlic rice with larb and golden noodles with tofu. All were delicious and fresh, but the trout was the star. If nothing else, try the trout.
Food was amazing! We had the pad Thai, penang curry and coconut shrimps, all very tasty
We had just flown into town late on a Sunday night and the staff were kind enough to makes sure we were taken care of
Loved the food and the atmosphere! The sticky rice mango drink was a bit too sweet though.
Generous portions, not too sweet
Love This Joint!
Love This Joint!
The food was amazing! We ordered chicken pad Thai and the pineapple braised pork fried rice and loved both. Crab &cream cheese wontons were super crispy and delicious even the mango iced tea was good. The food came out super quick even with only the 1 server she checked in on us multiple times! Will definitely come again
I wish I could give a 6 stars for food.
We had the most wonderful dinner. Green curry, ramen noodle and pad see ew were all so amazing.
5! 5 STARS!
Top 5 favorite restaurants I've ever eaten at.
Don't remember what GF got, but I ordered the daily special "Ba-Mhee with Cashew, Chili jam Stir-Fry".
GF and I left very full and sad that we couldn't finish our meal.
Now I have to go back to Portland...
First time dining in here. Having only ordered delivery through DoorDash here before, we decided to head here for a quick casual weeknight birthday dinner after an author event at Powell’s. Unfortunately, the service and the food were a bit of a letdown. When we came in, it wasn’t very busy and yet it took them a while to acknowledge us. When we ordered, they assumed we were getting takeout (they didn’t even ask if we wanted dine in or takeout). after we had ordered, they gave us our drinks in to-go cups. Perplexed, we then had to tell them we were dining in. We finally got seated. We were served the the Cream Cheese Wontons first and sadly, these didn’t have much crisp to them. Maybe it was a bad night but the Massaman Curry was a bit too salty for us too. Not sure what happened but when we had ordered delivery for the same dish before, it was perfection. Overall a disappointing birthday dinner.
Authentic, spicy, yummy
I tried a custom aviator cocktail, tom yum soup with shrimp, and pad kra-phrao (#29 basil stir-fry with chicken). Portions were generous. I thought I was ordering a small size Tom Yum soup for $7 but it was a meal sized one with 7 shrimp, lol. I still enjoyed as much of it as I could eat. The basil chicken was delicious. I surprised myself when I finished it all. The cocktails were also delicious. The service was impeccable. Everything came out very fast and all staff was checking tables frequently.
Best Thai food I have ever had! At a Thai place I always go for a curry with tofu, and you usually get something that is reliably good but tastes the same everywhere. Well, not here! This panang curry tasted exceptional - fresh and not like your run of the mill curry paste. I want to go back to Portland just to eat here again!
Definitely do not order for the Too Good To Go app for this restaurant.
Got two orders yesterday and the shrimp was spoiled. Food safety standards were definitely not followed for this order. Pot stickers were disgusting. We weren’t even about to try the noodle dish.
I was excited to try this place and hopefully find a new fave Thai spot. Unfortunately this won’t be the spot. They really didn’t seem to care that they’re serving spoiled food.
Excellent authentic Thai food. Exceeded expectations
Wow so so good. Insanely delicious. I’m leaving a review so I can remember to eat here again next time I’m in town. I know my photos are not of the food but there are other photos that feature that.
All you need to know is the food is amazing. Pad Thai one of the best I’ve had. The yellow curry was so so good. Big fan of this place
I would give 0 to service if I can, the server was so rude.
Thai Peacock is one of the best Thai restraurant's that I have been to outside of Thailand. We loved it so much, we ate here three times during our two week stay.
I had the special which was a fried trout on top of a bed of sauteed seafood. Everything wa fresh and the sauce was delcious! We tried a few different items on the menu and they were all just as good.
While the food was spectacular, I have to say that the drinks were probably the low point. They are served in plastic cups and are not really anything special from the ones we had. If they were to up their bar game, it would really be something special.
Our experience was wonderful and the food was amazing. The spicy basil fried rice with crispy trout is definitely a good choice.
Best Thai food in Portland
My experience was amazing
Outstanding. Period.
Wonderful food and an amazing atmosphere. Stop in on your way to Powell’s bookstore. The noodles were perfect and the food was not as salty as some Thai places I have tried. The service was prompt and the food came to the table quickly. Overall, a very pleasant experience.
Tasty stuff 😋 👌
I have had their food delivered, I have visited their little store in the market, I've been to their larger brick and mortar. Consistently FABULOUS. Eaten at both of their locations in the last ten days. They're simply the best!!! My favorite dish is the crispy trout matsaman curry, followed by the jungle curry with pork belly, and then Pad Med Ma-Muang. The crispy trout matsaman curry is one of the best curry dishes I've ever had and I crave it all the time. Brought our friend from out of town here and he could not get over how good it was. Great portions and well priced. Clean and cozy. Friendly staff.
Crispy Trout so good I had to order takeout the next day after dining in for dinner 🤤
Run don’t walk to try the crispy trout from Thai Peacock!
Other dishes we tried were the pad Thai; yellow curry and meatball small plate and they were tasty but the star of the show is the crispy trout - whether as a small plate or apart of their pad Thai you cannot go wrong.
Just like others have said - thank us later after getting the crispy trout.
Called with a very large 45 person take-out order with way too short of a notice, and the staff was incredibly accommodating and kind, managing to get me my catering order within no time. Food was fantastic, very thankful!
We ordered the Pad Thai and Pad Med Ma-Muang with chicken and both were fantastic for a reasonable price. The service was great and attentive as well.
The place stinks like you're walking into the bathroom. Asking the waitress about a dishe's spiciness, she misinformed me and it was way too spicy. She also charged us for peanut sauce for the crispy rolls without informing us about this extra cost.
This business needs how to learn literacy and how to maintain standards across all staff why would I receive better service from a busser then my own waiter. These people need to learn inclusivity and how to talk to the costumers. Was not happy and will not return with this demeanor that this business is okay with employeeing.
Fast, delicious, affordable, consistent food. It’s truly incredible how flavorful everything is yet comes out within 10-15 minutes of ordering! My favorites are the golden noodle, yellow curry, and pad Thai. Beware of spice levels- medium can be quite spicy!! I’m also a huge fan of the lychee juice. I tried it once a couple months ago and now order every time I eat here.
i’ve been going here for 10 years and it’s some of the best value thai in the area. always consistently good and their prices are reasonable. usually get take out but the dining experience inside is nice as well though usually a wait
Pineapple braised pork was the best thing I've eaten in weeks.
Good food
I had been to their location in SW Portland a couple of times and found them to be yummier than the typical Thai restaurant, so we had them cater our wedding of 120 people. Numerous guests said it was the best wedding food they'd ever had! The service was also top notch, with their catering manager kindly guiding us through every step of the process. They even offered delivery, set-up, and let us choose whatever items we wanted from the menu. The price was more than affordable. I also appreciated how they were able to have vegan dishes without compromising taste (i.e. no fish sauce). I absolutely recommend them, both in their restaurant as well as for any catering needs. Thank you, Thai Peacock!!
