Straightforward cafe in a shopping center offering traditional Thai cooking for dine-in or takeout.
Just ordered for the first time, My sister and I got the Tofu Pad Thai, Medium spice (perfect spice) it is absolutely delicious!! My brother got the Pork Pad See Ew it is delectable!! As well as the fresh rolls & Thai Iced Tea! Authentic, nice portion, delicious and beautiful presentation! As well as very friendly staff! We got our food so quickly! I look forward to dining in! Iβm happy we chose to try this place tonight! πππΎβΊοΈ found a new go to spot for Amazing Thai Cuisine! π«Άπ½
It's too bad we don't live nearby because the food was delicious & the prices are very reasonable.
I got the red duck curry. I figured the small cubed stuff was potatoes, but they're actually pineapple. That was the perfect complement to the duck & peppers. My wife got the pad see ew & she liked it. She ate about half & had the other half for breakfast instead of the drab continental breakfast offered at our hotel.
Would we return if we didn't live 6 hours away? Absolutely
First night traveling, looked for something close to the hotel and since we do not have much good Asian food near where we live, we decided to try this place.
Just in a strip mall, nothing fancy. BUT Great, authentic Thai food. We were in Thailand a few years ago and this was every bit as good.
I would stop here again!!
Fast service and friendly staff!
I love the salmon and Thai pumpkin curry! It took me a few times of coming here to eat to warm up to trying it but now itβs my favorite dish. We always get salad rolls, too.
Some of the best Thai on this side of town! The crispy green bean chicken and the "spicy chicken salad" (which is just crispy chicken on a bed of herbs) keep me coming back again and again. Other dishes on repeat include pad see ew, pad kee mao, and the yellow curry. 'Hot' is nice and spicy, but those looking for real spice should go for the "Thai spicy". Takeout travels well, and service is just fine in person, although their forks are oddly small and could use an update. Definitely a gem!
Presentation was spot on! The prettiest salad rolls I think Iβve ever seen! Not to mention some of the best! Very shizo forward. I loved the Chinese bbq pork option, with excellent quality bbq. Things here are so well thought out!
I loved the iced tea served in quart jars, I really loved the Tom Kah served in the white tin bowls.
The Tom Kah was perfect in all respects! Piping hot, spicy, the perfect amount of all the goodies. Really, some of the best Iβve had.
After a long day of treasure hunting at yard sales and meeting extraordinary people it was such a pleasure to be served extraordinary food! It completes a perfect day.

Fantastic experience and good service.
Wow! Best Thai food I've had in a while! I love Thai food and this place is the Real Deal. I was blown away by the Drunken Noodle. Prices not terrible either.
This place is great! One of those hole-in-the-wall joints you may just stumble across with mind blowing food and great service! Iβve had a few curries and noodle dishes - all were delicious. They do a stellar pad Thai.
Recently discovered Sa Bai Thai and keep going back because the food is so good.
What has happened to this poor restaurant??? have been happily coming for a couple of years. Unfortunately today, I picked up a to-go order of curry and stir fry. Upon arriving home stir-fry was half full. I called to inform them and request that at a later time I receive a replacement. and they told me I had to drive back βfor them to see itβ. Of course at a later hour my terminally ill husband and I were not going to do that. No more a customer I will be!
The Rard Naar (#28) with chicken is amazing. The serving size was also great for $17.
This is an amazing casual dining spot for authentic classic Thai dishes. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. Love the papaya salad (Lao-style), larb, and pad see ew.
The best Thai in Portland. No question.
Seriously stellar food! Everything is delicious, you can't go wrong but my personal favorites are the pad kee mao and yellow curry. Don't be scared by the down and dirty atmosphere or Sandy Blvd, Sa Bai hangs with Portland's top tier of Thai food. Everyone there is incredibly kind too! veg/vegan friendly
If you live in East County and are bummed out by all the mediocre Thai food in Gresham, do yourself a favor and drive just a little bit farther. It will make your night and you'll be thinking about it tomorrow. Sa Bai Thai forever!
Food was excellent π
Service was decent
Atmosphere was ok
That said...I would 100% recommend!
Casual place for delicious Thai food with very nice service.
Plating is beautiful and creative, food is always fresh and delicious dining in and taking out! One of my favorite Thai places! I seriously recommend the Pad Prik King!
Fantastic food!
Food was delicious and service was fast and easy. Always enjoy stopping by for a quick, hearty, delicious meal. Thai Tea is delicious as well!
Come here for the food, maybe not for the vibe and service.
All the foods were amazing. Hands down, best thai place in town for me.

No frills type place. The food is the best around.
The food here is so authentic that it is transportive. I feel like I'm traveling in Thailand again. Alloy!
Good food!
I've only ordered the crispy green bean chicken but I'm sure everything else is just as amazing!!

The fried rice was great! Tried the BBQ Pork and Thai fried rice, both were excellent!
My family and I agree that this is one of the best Thai places! The waiters were so patient with accommodating our baby. They were very helpful and kind. The food was beautifully presented and delicious! They also had many options!
Better than Thailand
The food was excellent!
Terrible, calous and rude staff.
We went to this place as a party of nine for lunch after noticing the higher than average rating on Yelp. Upon arrival we were informed we would have to spilt up since they didn't have seating for 9 at the time. We were fine with it. After getting seated at two separate tables, the main server came to our table and started off with 'just so you know our cooks are busy, there will be 15 to 20 minutes wait for everything on the menu'. It seemed odd that he wouldn't say that upon seating us. Moreover, he just stood there with a blank stare on his face after making that statement. In hindsight, perhaps he just wanted us to leave or was upset about something else and just did not care about customer service.
We were fine with that strange getting statement as well and started ordering. He kept on interrupting us, rushing us, being curt and impatient. We got thru putting in most of the order for our table in expect my wife's who asked him about the Salmon, he asked her to just read the menu in a condescending manner. And, while she was doing that, he just rudely announced- take your time, I will pause your order and left to go stand behind his counter.
I am very patient and easy going at restaurants, and don't expect much for service, but this person acted like he was burdened by us being there and made it known from the beginning. After this unprofessional behavior, we did not want to stay any longer. As we stood up to leave, not a single staff member made an attempt to even ask us what happened. This shows their level of customer service and professionalism.
I am sure you can find good, maybe even better food at other places with certainly much more decent human beings serving them- just like we did after walking out from there.
Good service, great food. I had the yellow curry it was really good.
Ordered takeout here on a friday at dinner time and they didnt dissappoint! Our food was ready in 15 minutes despite them also having a pacled dining room, portions were generous, and the food was delicious and perfectly spiced! They didnt skimp on the veggies and are easily accessible to the hotels in the pdx area. Highly recommend!
The reviews are true! Amazing flavor. This place is great!
I ordered chicken pad thai to go and the overall taste was good although on the sweeter side. Some of the chicken was a bit chewy but what really ruined the dish was the slice of lime that was placed skin down on the hot noodles. Putting the skin down made that area of food very bitter tasting. All things considered, I'd rate this a 3/5.
This place is okay, the atmosphere is nice but honestly the pad Thai was so bitter. I get every place does it different but there was almost no note of sweetness to be found. Their Thai iced tea is very good though and some of their other dishes.
My go to for pad Thai in this area.
Yum, yum, yum. We ordered eggroll and steamed chicken dumplings to start off along with a few delicious thai teas. Then we all ordered 3 different noodle dishes and everything was delicious π super fresh and so yummy! Wish I wasn't a visitor here! I would be a regular.
First night traveling, looked for something close to the hotel and since we do not have much good Asian food near where we live, we decided to try this place.

Fast service and friendly staff!
The food is good. Clean cuisine.
Donβt let the outside fool you, this is GEM of a restaurant. My father and I loved the food and atmosphere. Wonderful food. We ate the Tom Kha and curry fried rice. We will absolutely be back!!
I get padkeemow at every thai restaurant I go to. It was amazing! Definitely in the top 2 out of over 50 thru-out the country
While the food was good, I had an issue with the young male worker who took my phone order when I went to pick up the food order. When I brought up the wrong item to a cashier, the cashier summoned the person who took the food order. It was getting close to 9pm so they couldn't correct the order which was acceptable by me. However, when the order taker was questioned by a woman server, he loudly and curtly replied, "I repeated spicy beef salad to you and you said yes." I know I repeated my itemized food order back to him. He didn't have to gaslight a customer. He could have said, "I repeated spicy beef salad and I heard you say yes." instead. At this point, I just wanted to get out of this place. He left a bad impression of the restaurant because I have enjoyed dining here in the past.
The best Thai food I've had to date! Small hole in the wall place but always busy and great food. The employees are always friendly too.
Presentation was spot on! The prettiest salad rolls I think Iβve ever seen! Not to mention some of the best! Very shizo forward. I loved the Chinese bbq pork option, with excellent quality bbq. Things here are so well thought out!

Always friendly staff, and the food does not disappoint π
Cozy and good service
Everything was great! We will be back
Best Thai place in town. Hidden gem
Ken was our server, he did a great job. I started off with Thai Iced Tea. The Spicy Chicken Salad came next and it was delicious. Mussaman chicken curry hit the spot. BBQ Pork Fried Rice was excellent. It's a very light rice dish with thinly cut bbq pork. I didn't have room for the fried bananas. Next time!

That was the best Thai I have had in a long time. I was most impressed with the amount of food for lunch I was able to bring leftovers for dinner.
Anyone else have the hardest time getting through on the phone for take out orders? Food is 100 stars. Phones suck.
Everything about this restaurant deserves 5 stars.
Elegant with the right vibes, and letβs not talk about the amazing food and cocktails! Consistency is key and the meet it every time!
Lunch today was fabulous. Shrimp are big and succulent. Gorgeous presentation.
Exceptional service, incredibly friendly staff, and consistently delicious food with generous portions that offer excellent value for the price.
Good food, nice people π
I purchased the chicken phad thai & it was great. They are very generous with their portions. I was able to eat leftovers for lunch the following day. In my opinion Sa Bai Thai is at the top of my list & I'd recommend them to everyone.
Our favorite neighborhood place to eat! Their food is always delicious, great portions and attentive staff.
excellent food & service! I got larb & drunken noodles to go.
My very favorite Thaiβ€οΈ
Best Thai food ever. The staff is fantastic. I have been going here for years and their service has always been great.
Wish they had some beer
Always great. Great people. 3 years ago they did our food for the wedding and it was phenomenalπ«ΆπΌ
This is real Thai food. I have spent most of the last 2 years in Thailand. I was privileged to live with a Thai chef, and she prepared meals that delighted all of her friends at dinner parties. These guys take extra effort to make it as though you were in Thailand. They truly are "Sa Bai," which means "good."
Great food. 1st visit. We'll be back!
I got the larb, papaya salad, fried rice, and potstickers. All were delicious and perfectly seasoned!
The Friendly Village is an unassuming strip mall on Sandy Blvd with one of the best little Thai restaurants in Portland. We ordered chicken potstickers, larb with chicken, barbecue pork fried rice, and Lao style papaya salad with sticky rice. The vegetables were fresh. The seasoning for every dish was perfect. Service was fast even with a steady stream of folks stopping in for takeout orders. Lots of vegetarian and gluten free options on the menu.
Second time here - very good authentic Thai food! Love their Tom Kha soup, green curry and Pad Thai noodles. Definitely a hidden gem ππΌ
Food was great! Had a green curry and it was delicious! Servers are very nice.
Best Thai food in the area. We ordered pad thai, pineapple fried rice, pad woon sen, red curry and appetizers sample. Everything was delicious
I had the best pumpkin curry here. The food was hot, delicious, and well presented. Service was courteous. My only complaint about the atmosphere was the fan in the bathroom which is high pitched, loud, and creepy, but only noticeable from within the bathroom. Everything was clean and comfortable.
Expensive for the portions. Order was wrong. Pad Thai flavor was definitely present. Not to greasy which I appreciate. Mild was hot! Medium was only a little hotter! Soup was great! Curry was good but again had spice when requested it not. Calamari was fried but soggy and had a fishy smell (not worth a penny). Overall not great when considering the $$
Wonderful portions, and terrific food!
Outstanding Thai food. Great service, and generous portions. Their Lemongrass chicken is especially good.
Drunken noodles were super good, gluten free options available!
Humble little establishment in an otherwise derelict strip mall on Sandy. Ordered the Drunken Noodles (Thai hot!) and some Mango w/sticky rice to go. The Drunken Noodles were tasty and pleasantly warm, although still not hot enough for my taste, and a little strong on the Thai basil. All of the ingredients seemed fresh, particularly the vegetables, which had that certain crunch, and portion sizes were healthy and satisfying. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her dessert.
This was a takeout order, because the restaurant is not doing dine-in service quite yet, so I can't really comment on the service. My order was quoted at being ready in 15 minutes, and it only took 10, so there is that. We will definitely be returning in the future.
Really good food and excellent service
Great food. Every ingredient was so fresh. Most deserved high rating.
I've gone here for several years for mediocre thai food, opting for takeout due to the terrible service and atmosphere in the restaurant but today was the last straw. After being emotionally extorted into tipping for takeout, yet again, i was then treated like an early Uber eats driver until my food was ready. Once loaded into the car i remembered that the curry I had gotten often runs out of rice a lot quicker than most other places. Not that there's a ton of curry, no, they just give you this tiny thing of rice for takeout orders. I sincereley went back and requested another small rice. I was told it was a $2.50 charge for that little bit of rice haha. After kindly explaining my dilema about running out often they just repeated the price, rudely, and after tipping them $5.00 for nothing lol. I Never mentioned it. I just turned and left and this is the result. Peace, and I hope I can save someone the frustration of this pit. Few places have good enough food to have this bad of service and get away with it, this spot doesn't.
I love the owners! Best THAI food ever. Havenβt been able to find something near as tasty as this place in Los Angeles! I miss this place.
I've been a return customer for over 8 years. Great local owners and authentic Thai cooking. The food is always excellent, fresh, and hot. π
Absolutely amazing food! Super nice staff, attentive and worked well when a rush of people came in. Ill definitely be coming back, and thank you to all who were working today!
Beautiful display with the fresh spring rolls. Lots of nice fresh veggies in the Drunken Noodles. Friendly and attentive staff.
I'm so glad to have found this place! After trying so many different restaurants I thought maybe my memories of my best friend's Thai mommas delicious food were a dream. Everything has been just how I remember, so good!
Excellent drunken noodles π and penang curry π
Some of the best thai food in Portland, hands down
Friendly and prompt staff with really good food. I wish I would have taken some photos.
Fantastic food. Fresh vegetables. Cooked right. Strongly recommend this restaurant.
Delicious food, excellent quality and friendly service.
Some of the best Thia food we have had in a while.
Graet people working there.
Awesome place.
Cute, little hole in the wall place. I was intrigued by the high reviews and i can now understand why. Service was great, food was even better. Cannot describe how flavorful my curry was, and the salad rolls with peanut sauce. I had the paradise curry with jumbo shrimp and my friend had the tofu stir fry. Definitely recommend!
Good food nice friendly people
Poor experience 4th time eating here. Pad Thai was inedible, smothered in salty sauce. Mentioned it to the server who responded with "this is our recipe we make for everyone", kinda a screw you response. He then had the audacity to ask my husband if I know Thai food. I'm Vietnamese, lived in Thailand for 3 yrs and an avid cook. Im giving 2 stars because food is usually good. I don't know who this server is but he sucks.
Found this gem today, and all I can say is wow! Very friendly and attentive. Amazing service and fast. The food is so fresh and tasty. This was the easiest menu to read when you have food allergies like gluten. We appreciate this restaurant and will definitely come back
Plan on going back A LOT!
This place and chaba Thai are in a duel for best Thai food around
Nice big portions of fresh delicious food! Thank you π
I don't usually think to write reviews but this is the best Thai food I've had in portland. The quality have the meat and veggies was fantastic and the portions generous. The service is always kind and friendly and they're happy to adjust the meals for vegetarians. The only thing that has ever disappointed me is when I have to eat somewhere else and I'm never as happy with the food LOL 10 out of 10 would recommend
It's a very unassuming spot in perhaps not the most visited area, but it's worth a trip to this little gem! They had some authentic dishes such as Khao Soi and Kua Kai on the menu. Fresh ingredients, generous portions, and great flavors, without the downtown PDX prices. Staff was super friendly. I'll be back
Great fried rice, curry, not a bad item on the menu. Servers were attentive but not smothering. Great place to take a friend.
Service was prompt and efficient. I ordered two dishes that were unfamiliar to me for a change of pace. Since I have never had a wide noodle dish before, I'm not familiar with how it's supposed to be. On both dishes the noodles were all clumped and stuck together and were difficult to separate. The flavor of both were excellent but those noodles? Perhaps they weren't cooked properly? I don't know since I have never eaten this before.
Super impressed with this Thai restaurant! Read all the amazing reviews and had to check it out. We were not disappointed!
Tried the Pad Thai and Pad See Ew. Both had great flavor and were perfectly proportional between the meats, the veggies, and the noodles. Medium spice was just right. Lemon water was also a nice touch.
A no frills restaurant in an old strip mall but is some of the best Thai food in Portland. Also if you like spicy their spicy is the real deal. Their Hot is 5 star hot but also have Thai hot which is next level make your forehead sweat spicy.
Excellent Pad Kee Mao, Pad See Ew, and curry soup with mushrooms. Very friendly staff. Update. RARD NAAR is my new favorite. I have ordered it the last 5 times.
1000% the best Thai in town. I'll never go anywhere else again. We always order shrimp pad Thai, shrimp fried rice. And the chicken yellow Curry.
This is the best Thai restaurant in aware of in the Portland area. I love their Red Curry, Larb, Tom Yum, and eggplant stir fry. Of course thier Pad Thai is great but you will be rewarded for branching out as they are truly exceptional and talented. Their service is also great and extremely welcoming.
Best Thai meal Iβve had in a long time! Everything was beautiful and fresh. Very clear dairy-free/gluten-free menu items
Food is so good and the people who work there are patient and very nice. I would recommend my family and friends to eat there.
Authentic, high quality Thai food with friendly service.
This is our go to Thai place in town. It's hands down the best Thai I've found in the burbs. They have the only pad Thai I've ever liked. They have the best salad rolls I've found in town--always packed with veggies and herbs. This place is packed at lunch always, but never has long waits. Just a great family run place we love to support!
I love Thai food and Iβve tried MANY of the restaurants around Portland. I love Sa Bai Thai. There food is delicious but also consistent from one visit to the next, which I really appreciate. I honestly canβt pick a favorite dish here!
We came to this place because of the high rating. The food was good, I like the drunken noodle. The larb was missing some flavor.
Wonderful place. The food is amazing and the staff make you feel like family. I highly recommend this Thai food.
Best Thia food around.
Great service and food! They have special sauces for vegan and gluten-free diners, although you can't get both. Almost everything can be made vegan or gluten free! And it tastes SO GOOD. Highly recommended!
I forgot to pay the tip..... Embarrassing
Great food. But don't serve alcohol.
We come here at least once a week. We love the food. The staff is nice and friendly.
Best Thai food Iβve had, and I eat it often. Their Thai iced tea with coconut milk is amazing. We also enjoyed cashew nut beef, BBQ pork fried rice, chicken pad se ew and the crab puffs were great. The wait was long but worth it.
Tom kha was excellent. Service was friendly and quick. I live in Washington and drive across the river for lunch just to come here.
Wonderful food, cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. Their Tom Yum Soup is our absolute favorite!!!
Outstanding unassuming hole in the wall. If this place was downtown with this quality of food there would be folks lined up down the street. The absolute best green curry I've ever had. Want it spicy? Be careful what you wish for. This place takes spice as seriously as they take their fresh ingredients. Looking forward to my next trip to this area. Thanks Sa Bai Thai!!
Absolutely no flavor in the yellow curry! I didn't know it was possible, LOL!
Rice was all dried out and almost crunchy... Such a big letdown!
