Kampai, located at the vibrant corner of Galloway and Sunset, brings together the culinary delights of Japan and Thailand. Expect a unique fusion menu featuring fresh sushi and flavorful Thai curries, perfect for an adventurous and delicious dining experience.
I went here for lunch with my son.
The outside is not impressive! It looks very run down, dirty and dingy. The parking lot and outside of the building can definitely use an update and cleaning. BUT… the inside is clean. The servers are all very friendly and attentive. And most importantly, the food is fresh and delicious! The prices are also very reasonable.
We split the fried gyoza as an appetizer. I got a salmon skin hand-roll and the dragon roll. My son got the salmon skin roll. Everything was presented very nicely and tasted great!
Kampai is not close to my home. I was only in the area for a Dr appointment. If I’m in the area again, I will definitely go back.
My “go to” local sushi spot for when I’m craving some sush. They’re always quick when ordering take out and the quality is usually very good. Some rolls are better than others, the classics are usually always great. Kampai roll, zombie roll, and the pad Thai are my faves.
I’ve been a long time customer and we mainly place orders online for pickup at least twice a month. My main and only complaint because their food has always been fantastic, is that they changed their online ordering website and the new one is a complete disaster. I use to be able to pull up my previous orders and make changes or just reorder which would streamline the process. New is not always better.
First time. Liked this place as we met up w/ friends for a late lunch. Parking was difficult, but restaurant owner/Mgr was very helpful in getting us a space.
Went for a very late night date & honestly, the food and service were amazing. We loved the hot green tea (plus free refills!!!) & we got:
- steamed gyoza (must order)
- rainbow supreme roll (my personal fave)
- kampai roll (comes fried)
- neptune roll (more spicy mayo than anything else)
Loved that they were able to accommodate even if we arrived at 9:30 pm. Devoured our food & left happy!
I been coming to this place for over 10 years is very close to home.
My favorite rolls are : Neptune, Mango Roll, Ninja Roll.
Service: 10 out of 10 they are like family every time they see me.
Place: Typical Japanese cozy restaurant
One of my top sushi restaurants in south Miami.
Wow being in the restaurant industry I realized I have visited many sushi restaurants! But in the past and always I got back to the best the original sushi Logo! Kampai! For years a staple now a legend . Love it old school sushi by master sushi chefs ! First the pan fried gyoza was amazing with the sauce w ginger lord! Then the spring rolls were crunchy fresh wow!
We ordered rolls wow the crunchy tuna roll was awesome and the dragon roll yummmm but the recommendation from our server she was awesome the rainbow roll was the best . Rainbow as in a roll w shrimp on top one with tuna fresh one with white fish one with salmon amazinggggg! The crunchy tuna was so fresh delish love the spicy mayo!
Of course the fried shrimp was ahhhhh! Some Sapporo beer cold to go with the sushi and you have a sushi dream. Still the best Kampai scores!

Great food, great restaurant.
The best Sushi in town!!
Delicious as always
Bad experience with food and service
Fried rice had a cartoon on it . The service was bad , bathroom and restaurant with a dirty baseboards.I don’t recommend this place

Delicious food, attentive and gracious servers, and beautifully presented dishes. I wish this place was in my home town!
Great sushi
Un lugar para compartir con amantes de la comida japonesa

Excellent food and good selection
Old restaurant not really updated over the years. The food is very good; however their customer service needs improvement. The manager completely lacks people skills.
Pros: Quick service, and good cuts of raw fish in both the sushi and sashimi. Pad Thai was alright.
Cons: Miso soup was poor, cream cheese wontons were stale and obviously frozen, and an employee decided to start loudly drilling into the wall while confused diners were eating and had to stop conversations until he was done.
Definitely overpriced for the quality ($70 for two people).
Their food is always delicious!
Best sushi restaurant in Miami.
Excellent costumer service
The best and most traditional Japanese sushi I have tried. Love this place
The best fry rice in Miami💖😋💖😋💖😋
I'm bit puzzled because this place has good reviews lots of people ordering in and out. I ordered crab ragoon it had no taste beauty and the beast sushi and hand roll absolutely no taste.
I'm giving 3 stars because we ordered the chicken katsu and it was good.
****Kampai has lost a long time customer due to their new delivery service.****
I have been a long time customer of Kampai’s. We routinely order delivery on Friday night. Unfortunately, they have now lost a customer. Tonight, I placed my order and got a call back saying that they no longer have delivery drivers and they have a new site for delivery orders. I went to the site and placed my order and found that they charge a $23.00 delivery fee and they expect a 20% tip on top of that! Yes, you get the 10% discount, but that does not make up for that ridiculous delivery fee. What a shame.
Haven't been here in years. Glad it's still around
Great little local place. Decent prices and always consistent.
Love the food and the service! 100% recommend. My family and I go often and their quality is always top notch!
Great food, great menu, great service.
Love it.
What a great experience! Parking was almost impossible, but worth the headache. The restaurant is small and cozy. The service was wonderful and the food was AMAZING. The pricing is very fair too! Looking forward to going back!
Wonderful experience!! Great food and service!!!!
Love this place! The staff is always accommodating and so helpful in kind! Great spot for a date night or for the family... Sushi here is bomb!
Excellent
I’ve been here several times over the years and the food has always been decent. But today I ordered a take out roll and when I got home there was a fly stuck on one of the pieces. So grossed out and upset! Definitely never going back again.
The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Also my favorite place in Kendall to order Pad Thai 👍🏽
So fresh and not over charging. Love this place
Been going there for 20+ years.
Sushi nigiri was great!
Amazing food and service
Kampai is our Japanese favorite restaurant for more than twenty years
The food overall was amazing, but we ordered a Tempura udon that was just beyond horrible. Hot water with soy sauce and frozen vegetables. I couldn’t eat it. They didn’t do anything to switch it for something else, and they charge the full prize for it. A shame.
Great place for lunch. The service is fast, the food is delicious and inexpensive.
20 years eating here for a reason. Food is great, sashimi is a good size portion for the price compared to other places. They’ve never messed up my order. Recommend the yummy yummy roll but everything is delicious here. If you order on their website there’s a discount. They deliver as well.
Delicious and great variety of high quality sushi! The boat for two is my favorite.
Small spot , great spot to have sushi 🍣 👌🏽 and cold beer .
Plates are very savory as well .
The mango roll wasn't bad, but recommend the carribbean roll.
I been coming to this place for over 10 years is very close to home.
My favorite rolls are : Neptune, Mango Roll, Ninja Roll.
Service: 10 out of 10 they are like family every time they see me.

One of my top sushi restaurants in south Miami.
Great! Food and ambience were 5 star quality. Here with my best friend. So happy!
Parking was a bit stressful, we may be towed, but the risk is worth it. When we arrived, there was a car accident and turning into the lot was quite hectic, but no worries, my best friend took a long detour just because this place is so magnificent.
Definitely come eat here. We only ate shrimp
Best sushi ever
Loved it.
The lunch specials are fantastic! Both Thai and Japanese choices are great, and they're very reasonably priced.
Es mala no pude comprar comida porq no había nadie que hablara español
My top sushi spot I frequent in this area! If you want a quick service with good selection and delicious food, this is it
Everything is amazing from start to finish
the food is high quality, service is fast and very nice
Amazing place
Great food , great service.
Fantastic. The sashimi platter is excellent, best tuna and white tuna I’ve ever had. I would avoid the shrimp shumai but the rolls were great and service better. Enjoy an empty parking lot and fresh food!
Excellent sushi restaurant. The food is exquisite at reasonable prices.
I love this place. We come for here for regular dinners, quick birthday celebrations, order take out for family gatherings, etc etc. The food and the service are awesome. Tuna tower is one of my favorite dishes and it’s been the same great quality for years that I have been visiting this place. All sushi rolls are great. I stick to raw rolls, but my wife only orders cooked fish on her rolls and they are all fantastic and tasty. Highly recommend Kampai.
Super frently, the food is amazing love this place
Super excelente delicioso
The sushi reminds me of my Japanese grandma's cooking, and I have never had a Japanese grandma before. Delicious 🤤😋
Better than the maki sushi in miami
Bigger portions
Bigger rolls
Plus Thai food
All in one local
Very good place all the ladies are very special when attending a customer food is fresh all the time we go there often at least 3 days a week
A wonderful experience full of fresh food, great service, and a wonderful atmosphere.
Their sushi boats are top notch!
Although it's a hole in wall and on the outside looks like a truck stop it's the best Thai in Miami for us 😋
Impresiona que la imagen del lugar no es acorde con la comida del lugar, para los que gustan de un buen sushi, este lugar es indicado, precios justos y porciones justas.

Best sushi in the area, hands down.
Muy rico! La comida de calidad.
y el servicio muy bueno.Tienen bastante orden en atenderte, a pesar que siempre están full son muy organizados en servir y entregar los pedidos.
Iré a probar los maquis.
My favorite sushi is the Mango Roll. This is the best place to eat sushi and the prices are very good.
Great food great service highly recommend!
Best sushi on Sunset Drive Miami Florida don't get fooled by the rest
I went here for lunch with my son.

Food was very good for lunch.
Just an amazing spot. Amazing pad Thai, teriyaki, sushi. I love it so much.
The service is always top notch as well!!
Both the food and service are consistently amazing, the place is clean and always delivers. We keep coming back!
The place needs to be renovated, bit the food is fantastic
Very good I recommend it to come back soon
The food was not that good, tasteless and a bit expensive for Chinese food, not Japanese, and I would even say that the prices are too high for the taste of the food.
Great place for sushi always fresh and great friendly staff
Always a pleasure to eat here or take out. Food is excellent!
Good food and very pleasant service, ☺️
I'm looking forward to my visit.
#1 Japanese restaurant in Miami!
My fiancé and I eat here all the time and I’ve never left a review. This is our favorite sushi place. The sushi is outstanding and fresh every time, and the prices are good. You can easily get plenty of rolls and not break the bank like you would at some of these chain sushi spots. Service is always great too. We love it.
The best Sushi in Miami!
Love me some Ikura
Great food, just not many vegetarian options though
Guys! Jesus!!!!! Hummmm!!!! Excellence!!!!
It was great! Great food, the service was great and the atmosphere is like an authentic japanese restaurant. I loved it.
Our food was excellent and the menu is extensive; the staff is always very friendly and efficient.
Hands down top Asian restaurant in my book great food, great service, very affordable 👌🏾
Best sushi spot in town! Yummy roll always hits. Tuna tower never fails. Everyone is so nice and quick service.
Great place!
Excellent food, a little cramped and there is a lack of parking.
Great local spot. We enjoyed our sushi and the service was nice.
Small but with a very good quality and variety of sushi, the service is fast and really good
Work lucnh, great customer attention and there are super attentive, even they speack japanese love the place.
We go very often. Food and service is excellent. Best Asian restaurant south of Flagler.
Awesome
Best place to go for food and service. Love to eat there
Love this place I’m a regular at least 3 times a month super great always fresh and awesome staff . 100% all around
In a word, disappointing. Frankly that this quality could get 4.5 stars makes me despair of the quality of Asian cuisine in Miami. I did not think this would fly in any major US city.
Take this boat for 2 as an example. First of all, it's way too much, nobody needs to eat this quantity for 2. The 4 types of fish are not at all fresh enough to warrant this amount of repetition between sashimi and nigri (the tuna in particular, to my palate, inedible). If your fish quality is substandard then at least go heavier on variety and rolls. When it comes to the rolls, the three cheapest and blandest types were chosen between California, Philadelphia, and what I perceive to be Florida. A bunch of cheese and processed "crab" is all I'm getting in my rolls.
I'd give 0 stars if I could and am immeasurably unhappy to end our vacation this way.
The servers were amazing and super nice. The food was amazing, had the miso soup to start with and even just the taste of it made me realize how good this place was going to be. Had salmon skin roll was pretty good too, and they even made the sauté with chicken instead of the seafood on the menu for me. Just amazing work they really seem to care for the people that come in. I Can’t recommend it enough 💕. The mango sticky rice was so good too they really made sure to get the most ripped mango even in the off season. They really went up and beyond with there service.
Usually reliable sushi restaurant. Good lunch value. The tuna nigiri I got this time was quite sinewy and poor quality. Service was swift.
Fun spot for work lunch. Would return for the sushi, but not the atmosphere.
A hidden gem. great food.
This restaurant needs renovations. Smells bad, like moho. I ordered sushi and it was not good.
Great little hole in the wall. Food is delicious.
Cuatro cocineros especializados ensamblan la costelación de platos... -frente al público.
