La Moon Khao Man Gai, Thai Street Food
This place is delicious. The staff were kind and attentive. Their fried and Hainan chicken tastes just like how we had in Thailand from our recent trip. Boat noodles were also good, a little sweet but I was able to customize to taste with the variety of condiments provided. Generous portions for both dishes, worth the price in my opinion.
Food was awesome, Staff was sweet. We got the yellow curry and the Khao man gai tod, both were delicious with generous serving. we also got the pink milk which was very sweet and a nice balance. Very happy to have such a nice option for dine in and takeout in the neighborhood! will be coming back for sure.
Just terrific food. Best khao man gai I've had in Portland! Price is a little high, but quality is excellent.
So good, and many choices especially if you love chicken and rice. However the green curry was a favorite. Good prices and fantastic food.
Such a wonderful little spot. Best Thai food I’ve had in Portland, and that’s saying something. Warm, inviting environment and very friendly staff. This is now my go-to Thai takeout, and they have parking!
the food here is really tasty and authentic - the owner was super friendly and you can tell he really cares about the customer's experience. i loved it! will be back.

They play Boyce Avenue!!!
Also the food was very good. Chicken was very chicken flavored and so tender!
Beef noodles were fire too!!!
So yummy and super friendly service! Love
Yellow curry is a signature dish, applauded in this space. The spice level was appropriate but one of the constituent spices - cardamon? cumin? - was overpowering and frankly, ruined the dish. I ordered the crispy garlic chicken. It was very similar to General Tso's Chicken but not as good as good General Tso's Chicken (Powell Seafood). Wait staff was friendly enough - not especially attentive. Variable not under their control - view is a two-story u-store-it place with a cell phone tower.
In order to escape the incessant winter rain of the Portland area, my friend and I popped into La Moon. We were seated at a view table, where the view consisted of the steady stream of cars whizzing by on Powell, or the storage center across the street, or a medium sized cellphone tower. I'm sure that the owners spent at least as much on decorations as a party of four would spend on lunch.
We ordered from the rather limited menu and after a while the food arrived. My order was Yellow Curry with Tofu. It was definitely Yellow and had crunchy Tofu. It also had a few chunks of potato. The spice level was nice, but the Curry flavor was overwhelming. I couldn't finish mine. My friend got Yellow Curry with chicken. He felt much the same about his. He also got an order of Crispy Chicken which he didn't like . We left a lot of food on the table and decided to not return. We were the only people there for lunch, except the staff.
Really yummy food. Very good overall.
Went in tonight for Boat Noodle Soup and it was delicious! And so filling. They definitely do not skimp here. The food is great, people are great. And they had the cutest 3 year old doorman opening doors tonight and saying bye bye. I hope they pay her well lol
Incredible green curry, fresh and tasty chicken. Everything was amazing. 5/5
Delicious!! I got the Thai Style. So taaaaaasty and simple.
really great! We had curry and a combo chicken plate - both were excellent. Super friendly staff, and great tunes on the soun system! so stoked to have this spot in the neighborhood, and i can't wait to drop by again.
Sweet service. The food was amazing. Best green curry I have ever had. It was spicy and every pepper flavor hit with a different flavor and spice level as we ate. Truly layered flavors with freshness and wonderful textures. The Hainan khao man gai was fantastic, as well. They made everything GF to accommodate which was wonderful. Stellar. I’m sure they will be overrun soon so get it while you can!
Clean, well lit. Very solid food. This will be a staples choice for me.
Can’t wait to come back to this new little spot. We order the different styles of Khao man gai and the flavors were amazing and distinctive. It all tastes truly authentic. Was really excited by the sauces that were served with dinner and am eager to try the others.
Perfectly done. Lived in Thailand for a year and this is the closest rendition of KMG in town. Better than Nongs and huge bonus you have multiple chicken options at La Moon as well as the tasty ginger rice. Don’t miss out!!
This place slaps. Can't wait to try all of the different styles of chicken.
Checked this restaurant out last night with my husband and it was delicious! We started with shrimp tempura, which was perfectly crisp. My husband got the khao man gai todd and the chicken was also perfection. The rice was incredibly flavorful and came with a light tasty chicken broth with herbs. I got the beef noodle soup and it was beyond flavorful, the beef was perfectly tender. I definitely recommend this spot to anyone! Delicious food and super friendly service!
Outstanding chicken (fried and poached) and rice!!!!!
Delicious yellow curry!
By far this is the best Khao man gai I ever had and I had alot!! Wist it close by I guess when ever we travel to Oregon we have to stop by and have some.
Delicious, simple Thai food. We ate Khao man Gai Thai style, the chicken was moist and the sauce was outstanding. We also had a green curry. I love a great curry, and this was so delicious. Creamy, smooth.
We will be back.
Absolutely the BEST Khao Man Gai in town! La Moon Khao Man Kai delivers authentic flavors with every bite. The chicken is tender, the rice is perfectly seasoned, and the sauces are just divine. The service is warm and welcoming, making you feel right at home. If you’re looking for genuine Thai street food, this is the place to go. Highly recommend!
Probably the best Panang curry I’ve ever had, super tasty!
Best Khao mun gai
in Town
The Khao Man Gai is the best in town. I have a feeling this will be very busy soon.
I ordered the Panang Curry. It was delicious and well balanced. Not too sweet, not too spicy and very flavorful.
such a great experience!!! really sweet and welcoming place, the spring rolls and yellow curry were particularly fantastic
10/10 food, amazing service, they also give cardboard containers for take out instead of plastic which is great.
New hole in the wall gem on foster/powell and greatest new Khao Man Gai restaurant! Incredibly authentic Thai street food. There are currently just two employees doing it all, and they’re working very hard day and night to provide outstanding quality food and customer service. Don’t sleep on this spot!
The yellow curry was rich, creamy, and delicious -- probably the best I've ever had. I also ordered the lamoon noodles with chicken. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The noodles had a lot of nice flavor as well. Very well done. But like most of Asian restaurants on Powell and 82nd, you might want to bring a sweater ;)
I ordered Togo food was really good and fresh totally coming back!!
The food is very delicious.
This place is amazing, it has the best selection of Khao Man Gai in the city and is an absolute gem! Great service and attention to detail, a must try if you like Khao Man Gai
Nice new cozy spot for Thai street food. Food are fresh and delicious. People working here are super nice . Definitely a new regular place for lunch for me.
Great people running this and amazing thai food. The Beef Noodle Soup and Panang Curry are my favorites. Honestly, it's all good!
They got the sauce 💯💯💯💯
The folks involved with this place only put out the best food and are lovely too! I can’t wait for this their magic at play again.
