Neighborhood nook with contemporary decor preparing a menu of traditional Thai specialties.
Great food — regularly order take out. 4 out of 5 stars because their soup portions are smaller than expected and the menu does not specify size or amount of soup. Otherwise, food is delicious and other portion sizes are as expected.
So happy to have tried this spot! Unlike other nearby Thai restaurants, Kinara has very reasonably priced dishes with phenomenal flavors. The coconut shrimp appetizer is so light, crisp, and delicious. The drunken noodles satisfy that Thai flavor and texture craving. I also enjoyed the mango iced tea - it complemented the spicy meal perfectly. I ordered take out and service was super fast too! Highly recommend :)
Way too much sugar!!! In everything we ordered including the peanut sauce for the fresh rolls.
Otherwise this is a cozy little place to dine. We came because of the excellent reviews.
All I could taste was the sweet. Someone has a heavy hand with the sugar. We have eaten a lot of Thai food both in the USA and in Thailand. There is normally some sugar added, often more than I like, but never as much as at this restaurant.
We ordered fresh rolls, pad thai, red curry, yellow curry, Gra Prow Grob, Tom Yum soup, and basil & chili.
Recommended only if you like very sweet Thai food.
Ordered the drunken noodles through Grub Hub and I think I found my new favorite restaurant. Food was delicious and perfectly seasoned and cooked. My only regret is playing it safe with spice.
Cute little space with good service and good food for the price. Serving sizes are just about right, and most dishes can be made vegan or vegetarian! Appears to have a very loyal lunch clientele, probably because service is fast. My boyfriend and I were in and out in 30 minutes. Perfect for a little lunch break.
Mostly Lincoln HS kids who come here but the food is amazing. It’s what you would expect of an average Thai place and then some. Don’t come around noon on a weekday however because it’ll be overrun by students. The food itself is great but their service is what stands out. Even though they have a small location, they always do their best to make you comfortable. Highly recommend!
Food was fantastic, flavors delightful, ingredients fresh.

Basil Belly was the best Thai food I've had outside of Thailand. Service was quick and friendly too.
Fabulous food and fabulous service. Very small, very clean, nondescript in, and takeout restaurant. 5++ stars!
I had the appetizer coconut shrimp for about eight dollars. The pictures for the appetizer indicate that the shrimp are very large. When they were served to me, they were very small. I could hardly taste any shrimp inside and they were tasteless overcooked And too crunchy. I have had other dishes there, which were very good, but they need to take the appetizer shrimp off of the menu terrible

Amazing Thai food, attentive service, and close to Providence Park = Perfect!! I highly recommend it!

Phenomenal. Prices are fair, service is exceptional and friendly, and the food is delicious. On top of all of this, a super cozy, intimate setting.
Quick, delicious food with the perfect amount of flavor and spice in the curry
Heel lekker eten
Neighborhood gem!
Food was so very good. Very very good. I’m kind of fussy and everything we ordered was amazing. Larb=amazing. Squash curry = amazing. Drunken noodles = amazing. Tom kha = amazing. Basil belly = amazing.

Very good thank you and thank you for helping with my one year old. Great food.
I ordered delivery from this restaurant and just happened upon it while reading Pdx Eater, and I’m glad I did! The food was absolutely delicious!! I can’t comment on the service or atmosphere, but food was ready quickly and delivered promptly (thank you Uber Eats) and it was really good!! I will definitely be returning!!

Quaint, friendly service.. Fresh food, imaginative menu and close to the stadium. Five stars!! 💜
Delicious food, large portions, and quick service. I can't recommend this place enough!
Delicious good quality food. My go to Thai place 👍
I only ordered here from DoorDash for the few days I’m in town. My goal was to try as many different restaurants as I could for the time I’m here… but let me tell you the food here is sooooo gooood I had to eat it more than once. Get the Thai Basil friend rice with duck, Tom yum soup, and the blue crab wontons. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT.
The food was delicious, with authentic Thai flavors in every dish. The service was friendly and quick and the pricing was affordable. It's a cozy setting, smaller restaurant but that adds to the charm.
Came at 630 on a Tuesday. We ordered an iced tea, the drunken noodles, veggie dumplings, cucumber salad, and choo-chee pla(fish). The former three were all excellent, but the fish was outstanding. It was lightly fried and incredibly flavorful. The service was fast and the portions were good at a reasonable price point. Would recommend.
Im a rather picky eater, and I had to stop myself from finishing the whole plate. Great pricings, cozy atmosphere, great personalized guest experience
The food is fabulous. Only take out but quick and easy. If you go at lunch you may run into them kids from the local school.
Kinara is the best Thai we’ve had in portland! They’re so kind and the food is always delicious!
My favorite neighborhood Thai food restaurant. They have a super good Brussel sprout dish. Also really good curries!
I would give Kinabalu Thai zero stars, actually. This was the worse Thai food I’ve ever put in my mouth. The only thing edible in our entire order was peanut sauce.
Great chicken pad thai. Simple quick mobile order, the wait wasn’t long at all. Thank you to everyone here for serving my lunches.
After living in Thailand for 1 year, this IS authentic!!! Amazing food & service, you won’t be disappointed. For starters I had Khao Kloog and I would recommend!
the best thai food in joplin 🫡🫡🫡
I am obsessed with this place! Everything I've tried has been fantastic and they have a lot of unique options I haven't seen at other Thai restaurants in Portland. I used to work nearby and now have to make the drive back every so often for the khao kloog, my favorite.
My new neighborhood go-to spot, I literally went here every day for a week after I found out about it because it’s 5 minutes away from my place and the food is FANTASTIC. I definitely recommend the Pad Kee Mao (my partner’s favorite) and the Gra Prow Grob (my favorite). I was getting really disappointed in Portland’s bland thai food, but this place restored my faith. The spice level is nice too, they don’t skimp!
My hubby cannot resist the cashew chicken here. I have tried a few items from the menu, and been happy with every single one.
Amazing food
Really delicious and good sized portions. Will be ordering again!
Khao Klong is my favorite, haven’t seen it at any other restaurant.
More and more I'm beginning to think when it comes to Portland, Oregon Thai food can do no wrong and I know that's not literally true. Because everyone can have an off day. But in these single meals, if they are anything to go by then, dining at this restaurant is an amazingly easy choice. If you're going here, you're going for Thai food and the food was delicious. The price was competitive and the Thai iced tea made me want more. If you're looking for a reason to not want to spend money at this restaurant, I can't give it to you. In all honesty, I'm sure it's like every other restaurant I've been to. It's not magic. It's a lot of hard work and dedication to craft and it's not magical in any way but at the end of the day for me an amazing Thai meal is magic because of the hard work they do here.
Such a wonderful gem doing takeout only right now. Love the Tom Yum soup, vegetarian special kabocha squash “pad Thai” a stir fry in the yummy sauce. Love their green curry too! Never been disappointed yet!
I recommend the alternative Pad Thai dish- Mee Gra Tee.! It’s pink and yummy! I Exchange the chicken for more tofu.
Khao Kloong is a unique dish that I’ve never seen at another Thai restaurant that everyone needs to try. The bits of crispy rice give it a great texture and it has a pleasant snap of ginger. Absolutely fantastic.
Seriously delicious
Great tom kha. Spring rolls are a bit loose, but tasty. Staff were friendly. I'd go again.
My girlfriend and I love this place. Great Thai food with large portions, at a VERY reasonable price.
Pickup was really easy and quick. However, the food was way too sweet. This was my second time ordering since a year ago, hoping it changed, but it is still too sweet. If you like Thai food that is sweet, this is for you.
Food is consistently good every time.
Worth the wait! Literally the best Thai food I've had in portland <3
One of my favorite places. Friendly fast and affordable.
The pineapple fried rice and brussel sprouts w/ peanut sauce are awesome!
Some of the best Thai food in Portland!
Kinara Thai is one of our family's favorite Thai restaurants in Portland! Their Tom Yum is so flavorful and filling. Their Pad Thai is the best in the city. And every single one of their seasonal dishes knocks our socks off. One of the best things about Kinara is that it's a local family owned restaurant and the people who work there truly take pride in their work. They always are able to accommodate a wide range of spice tolerance, dietary restrictions, and non-experimental eaters. Our toddler has gotten more and more curious over the years and now happily will try choo-chee pla or larb. Things that aren't typically found in a toddler's diet. We are glad that they survived the Pandemic and appreciate the abundance of caution they took during the heights of COVID surges.
Food is delicious, staff is friendly, owner is respectful. Will definitely come back
5 years ago, Tina Granzo took and posted one of the most soul-shattering photographs of Thai food the world has witnessed. The sun casts its long shadow across a lump of rice lovingly plopped alongside a perfectly inscrutable main course of sautéed vegetables topped with fresh mint leaves. Soaked to my bones in ennui, I remember the Tom Kah soup that would change my life, but that children, is a story for another day.
Delicious food, lovely people, long waits after Timbers games. Worth your time.
Curries and Pad Thai here are delicious. :)
Best Thaifood on the west side, great staff.
I’ve been pleasantly surprised with a few thai places i’ve had in portland, but kinara many dishes tasted completely different and lacked flavors and spices. With all the rave reviews i was caught off guard by the bland dishes that only had one flavor…sugar. Tasted completely different from all the places i ve had on my many culinary trips to thailand. Even the bad, very westernized thai restaurants here have more flavors and complexity than the dishes of kinara. I ve had alot of great food in thailand and also had alot of good and bad thai food around the world. But the top three worst thai dishes i ve ever had were from kinara tonight.
Inedible dishes:
-drunken noodles: the noodles were cooked wayyyy too long which made the entire dish extremely soggy and disgusting. I cant remember the last time i had noodles with this bad texture and overcooked! Had very mediocre flavor.
-Pong ga ree prawns: wayyyy too sweet. Thats all you can taste in this dish.
-green chicken curry: another dish that was wayyyyyy too sweet. Another dish that all you could taste was an overkill of sweetness.
Mediocre dishes:
-green papaya salad: nothing to write home about. Needed more acidity. At least this dish was edible.
-Lettuce wrap larb: the flavor and seasoning of the ground chicken was good and pretty authentic. However, the ground chicken was so dry that it made this dish pretty bad. If they cooked the ground chicken better this dish would have been great.
Good dishes:
-Nom jean pla: this was the only dish that they did an authentic job cooking and had different flavors and spices, similar to tastes that you’d find in a restaurant in Thailand. I had to pour this sauce into other dishes to save those dishes.
Excellent
Had their crab dish, it was tasty, subtle but rich flavor. Rice was good and nice portions.
Bland. And pretty expensive.
We ordered 25 separate meals for a holiday office party last night. The food arrived on time, piping hot, and every order was correct. They even threw in some extra appetizers and everyone LOVED it! 10 out of 10 would order again!!
Ready in 15’
5’ from my house
Easy
Tasty dishes made with high quality ingredients. Easy pickup experience, and friendly!
My favorite Thai restaurant. Their yellow curry is so good. The potatoes come with the skin but it's so thin that it is not an issue. Keep in mind that you need to order rice separately, especially if you are ordering to go. highly racommanded.
Delicious thai food at a decent price for the area.
Kinara is soo good every time. They’re always quick and really kind in the store. Prices are reasonable as well. The Khao Kloog can’t be beat!!
We love Thai food. It has been a staple for us, for years. We moved to Portland, OR (from Seattle) 2 years ago - and have been trying various restaurants since then to find our 'Thai Home'.
Tonight, we hit the jackpot when we tried Kinara Thai. Not only did they accept our online order, 30 minutes before closing (we don't usually do that) - BUT, the food came hot, fresh & flavorful.
Kinara's blend of seasoning in every dish kicked it over the edge to a 5-star rating in our book. Super generous servings (true enough) - but the flavor profile was in our top 5 of all-time (and we are 50+ years old). We can't wait to visit in person (based on the reviews about the ambiance).
Next time we order, we'll report on specific dishes - but suffice it to say, YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED! The quality is incredible.
Excellent food with perfect spice levels. Just wished I had found this place sooner!
Grubs, some of the best Thai in town.
This is a long-overdue review for a delightful place with tasty meals. We have never had a bad meal here, and my wife and I have visited A LOT over the years--great place to bring friends, too. Classic case of the menu being smaller--but everything on it is delicious. Everyone's friendly, the price is low (especially considering the quality), and you should always get the fresh spring rolls, too.
Not only does Kinara Thai make delicious meals, they are taking COVID precautions seriously and keeping both customers and staff safe. Takeout orders are prepared quickly, and the staff is friendly and accommodating. This is my go-to restaurant when I don't feel like cooking.
They are taking great precautions for the pandemic. Food tastes great, crunchy vegetables and hot food, perfect.
I loved the cooking here. One of my FAVORITE places to go anytime.
Whether you are looking for sit down or takeout, this is my favorite Thai food restaurant in Portland. The food is always fresh and tasty and the spice level is consistent. The staff is super friendly and takes the time to get to know you. I could not be happier that they are just a few blocks from my home. Favorite dishes - Drunken Noodles, Green Curry, Blue Crab Wontons. You won't be disappointed.
Best thai food EVER!!
Friendly staff, quick service, and good prices. Good food too!
Some of the best dishes in town. This spot is hot.
Super yummy!! The pork dumplings are WONDERFUL!
Great food with friendly fast service.
The overall food here is delicious, the prices are decent and the staff is lovely!
Will probably be our go to Thai takeout place while living here. The food is delicious. We ordered Drunken Noodles, Chicken Fried Rice, and dumplings. Food came hot. Food came flavorful.
Great food that is always consistently delicious!!! They are being beyond careful during this pandemic and taking all the proper precautions making me feel extremely safe and comfortable. On top of that they are always accommodating to my gluten free allergy and can make nearly everything on the menu GF :) highly recommend and please support this amazing local business!!!
Most authentic Thai food we have had in Portland.
I order take-out from here all the time (and make my boyfriend go pick it up cause I'm lazy). Figured I owe them an updated review since they are now an essential part of my existence. When I'm about to eat cereal for the third meal in a row I say, Wait! I can order thai food! I've also tried their soups now and absolutely love the Tom Kha soup. It's sweet and sour and creamy and so delicious. Their Pad Thai is still my favorite though, or maybe the basil fried rice. And thai iced teas - thai iced teas are a requirement for the full experience. Thanks for keeping me alive Kinara!
good taste!
everything was delicious and very reasonably priced. I recommend the drunken noodles. next time I'll ask for spice, because they had the chili icon next to it but didn't ask for a spice level, and it had almost none. still delicious.
Great food and ambiance
LOVED IT! We ended up here on accident. We were originally going to try Ichiza, but they were slammed, so we just walked around the block and found this absolute gem. The service was great, they were so welcoming, sincere, and attentive. It’s a small restaurant, but we didn’t feel stuffed into it, it was very comfortable. Now the food - the Thai Fried Rice was hands-down, the BEST fried rice (of any kind) we have ever had. It was SO flavorful and fresh. I would 100% recommend this restaurant!
Ordered the Tom Kha soup with vegetables. Veggies were cooked very well but the broth was way too sweet. Definitely too much sugar used in this recipe. But the place is very cute and staff very friendly.
Service was friendly and the food came quickly. We tried the fresh rolls, pad see ew, panang curry and pra ram; all were delicious and very well presented. It was a small cozy restaurant with a very pleasant atmosphere. We will definitely be back!
Friendly service, intimate venue, and very affordable and tasty food
Super friendly staff who can help even the most indecisive patrons. The restaurant has a warm and intimate atmosphere
My favorite Thai food place.
The staff here are super friendly and nice. The food is always good. I highly recommend trying this place.
Best Thai food I've ever had. Fresh, quality deliciousness!!
Great food. Good prices. Very small space. Lots of gluten free options.
Cute little place near Lincoln High School. Want busy and is larger than it looks on the outside, still small but a bit bigger. Good food. The Pad Thai was good. Not as much, maybe none, peanut sauce as I like, but still good. I am very sensitive to herbs and spices so there may have been something in it that didn't agree with me. If you are sensitive to anything make sure to ask about what all is in it. I didn't so it's my bad. I'd give them another shot, but will ask about all ingredients. The biggest reason for a four instead of a five is we had a vegan member of our party and they put eggs in his dish. Just be extra careful.
Loved it. New favorite spot
Cool spot
Excellent food! Great service! Reasonable prices!
Wow. I don’t give out 5 stars, but this place was completely en point. Pad Kee Mao and Pad See Ew were perfect. The service and ambiance are excellent. I’m impressed.
Incredible. Perfectly coooked pad se ew and pad thai. Just the right amount of oil and spices
Delicious food, super friendly staff, and a lovely atmosphere! Will visit again.
Great Thai!
Small cozy restaurant. Regular Thai food costs and regular portion sizes. The food seems healthy and is tasty. The staff is nice too.
Had a fabulous dining experience here! The waitstaff was super friendly, the ambience was nice, and the food was exceptional. I highly recommend the blue crab wontons, the tom ka with prawns, the pad see ew with chicken and the mango with sticky rice. I plan on making this my regular Thai spot!
Delicious food and very friendly staff!
Amazing tofu pad tai
First class food n service. Please make a point to have lunch or dinner her you won't be disappointed
Good food and a great atmosphere to have lunch with friends.
Always good. Excellent service!
Food was amazing. Owner and staff were super friendly and excellent service. Will come back. Love the Mango Sticky rice. NomNom.
I eat A Lot of Thai food and this one exceeded expectations. Had the chef special fried basa fillet with a red curry sauce and veggies. Was excellent!
Food is awesome here.

Easily the best Thai food I’ve ever had. Friendly service, good flavor, good amount for the price. Space is calm and comfortable.
Best Thai
Solid food but the staff is amazing. I always feel welcomed
Food: wonderful. Service: wonderful. Ambiance and all that whatnot: also wonderful.
I’ve been going for years and have yet to be disappointed. Small but cozy location, and consistently tasty food.
Great place. Fresh and tasty food. Thank you!
Amazing food
Very good Thai food. Nice quiet ambience, good service and very reasonable prices.
Great Food Great Atmosphere....
Ono
small place, cozy - fast, attentive, friendly service - most entrees (dinner) in the $12-20 range and big enough to feed 2 moderate appetites - spicy dishes are so labelled - chicken satay appetizer was OK, the noodle main dish was very tasty, with a mild kick - would definitively return
Great food....Awesome staff.please go there eat. Great wine selection too!
Delicious Thai staples at reasonable prices and good specials that you can't go wrong with.
Good food but plates are way too small
