Local thai cuisine, family owned and operated.
Fantastic little Thai restaurant. Everything feels and tastes as if I were right back in Thailand, with decidedly refined atmosphere and style. The Pra Nam and Orange Chicken were amazing. Absolutely best Orange Chicken I have ever had from any restaurant - crunchy and delightfully sweet without being overpowering. 10/10 worth a visit if you are in Portland!
Khao Thai is consistently the best in quality and quantity in the south east neighborhood. Better than ladda , better than nakwhon- I have tried all the Thai in the Portland area and nothing hits the spot better. Trust. It’s so underrated. It tastes so authentic , just like home but better .
We discovered this place a week ago and came back again today. My mother, wife and kids love the food here. Delicious, well prepared food. You can hear the wok in the back making that magic happen. The service is above 5 star. A place that deserves a 5 star all around. We will be back again very soon.
Incredibly lovely place. I wish they are more packed because they’re so underrated. I’ve road tripped across the US trying random Thai places and this is a true gem that I’m glad is so close to home. The pad Thai was perfectly sauced, flavorful, and a nice chewy texture. The panang curry was nutty and deep with tons of flavor and fresh vegetables. The rice was fluffy. I tip extra for how lovely these people are and how much they deserve it. Highly, highly recommend supporting this spot!
Order was incorrect. They refused to correct it when we called back. Total waste of money and time.
$11 for a BIG portion of Chicken Pad Thai with good flavor!
Portland's favorite topic of conversation is complaining that the 90s are over. So come here. The 90s are back, baby! Get your standard thai dishes at 90s prices with smiles and genuine attitudes and appreciation. I swear that they are open 365 days and the service is fast and repeated. I won't say that it's the most mind-blowing Thai spiced-dishes you've ever had, but it's standard fare and much more importantly, it's consistent.
Hole in the wall Thai place with super attentive service, amazing food, and is very family-friendly. Highlights: Pad kee mao, pad thai, papaya salad, tom kha, and pad see ew. The basil fried rice was also excellent. You can taste the smoky wok flavors in each bite. Help support local small businesses! The owner is so sweet. We will keep coming back to try other dishes. ❤️

Exactly what I was looking for
I was looking for restaurants open on Christmas and they treated me with the best service I've gotten at a restaurant and when I was walking out I forgot to buy a drink so when I was walking back in to ask for a Dr pepper they gave it to me for free. Very good food, service and atmosphere I'm definitely gonna come back soon 👍👍

My favorite place for Thai while I was visiting Portland. Their pumpkin curry is some of the best I've ever had!
Nice people, good food, and good prices!

Best Thai food in Portland!!!
Chicken made me horribly sick! Worst food poisoning of my life! They refunded me but did not apologize or seem to care about anything but getting a doctor’s note from me so they could file insurance claim. I’m not sure they didn’t intentionally poison me! Insanely sketchy
Not a very busy place for lunch but comfortable. Food was good and the portions were quite large.
Food was good, fast service, very attentive. Very nice people. Definitely recommend if your just wanting a quick meal. A lil pricey for food quality.
The pad see ew was awful. The rest of the food was pedestrian. The service was pathetic. Our server disappeared at one point and we had to open the front door to get her attention. I do not recommend this restaurant at all.
Very good fresh authentic dishes served by family run kitchen. Consistent quality on all my visits.
I love all their food, and the best of my favorite is the fried eggplant and slow cooked pork yummie. I am very happy with all our choices! Great thai food at great price👍
The staff is always friendly and kind! Get the veggie tempura if you’re sitting down to eat. I’ve had multiple of the noodle dishes and they are always tasty!
Everything was amazing. I ordered some chicken wings!!! Omg! They were delicious crispy. The egg rolls are so good. I also got the chicken pad Thai . It’s amazing. The service is really fast!
The whole place is adorable. Enjoy ❤️
Great Thai restaurant. It's really inexpensive for the quantity and quality of food you get.
Interview food, excellent prices
Fairly inexpensive especially for the portion size! Food and service was also excellent.
Only problem was if you are short the chairs are so low so you cant reach the table

Wonderful food as always and quick attentive service.
Friendly, kind, and generous people and fantastic food!
Kickass Thai food in a cavernous, unpretentious setting. Very flavorful.
I absolutely love ordering from here, best place to get curry in Portland. I unfortunately haven't been able to get my usual Pumpkin curry in awhile due to being pregnant, but you better believe im having it as soon as the baby is out! 🐢❤️
Our go-to spot(weekly) for the Jiffy Lube crew, always fresh, fast and friendly. Laab salad is fire, Thai yakisoba (with chicken, pork or beef) and orange chicken are filling and dang tasty!
Wonderful flavorful food. Some of the best Thai food in portland. Reasonably priced.
An excellent variety of Thai dishes, made with the freshest of quality ingredients and perfectly seasoned! Portions are generous and priced right with many vegetarian, gluten free, and vegan options, as well as several meat and seafood options.
The owners are kind and welcoming, and the space is cheerfully decorated and comfortable. I can't believe how many times I've driven past this pink colored building and not realize that it was a wonderful Thai restaurant. You only signage is a very small sign high up on the building. I do recommend better signage because I fear too many people have made the mistake that I did and miss this great restaurant. I will be back soon! One note is that hotness levels seem to run more to the American than the Thai palate, so order spice level accordingly or ask the person serving you.
Fantastic food. We had lunch after shopping for a wedding dress. Best Pad Thai all of us have ever had. Quick service. Will definitely go again
my go-to thai spot. average prices but great servings !
Love the food here! It's been our go to neighborhood Thai restaurant since they started!
This is our go-to neighborhood thai place. They are always quick, super friendly and the food is top notch. It's also one of the more affordable options in the area
So delicious. In a city where Thai food is highly competitive, this place definitely made me take note. Ordered chicken basil and pad kee mao.
Everything exceeded my expectations. Food was fresh. Taste was on point and full. Pretty authentic compared to the food I've had in Thailand. Noodles were the best IMO. Bouncy, slightly al dente, yet soft. Rustic chopped (not perfectly symmetrical like prepacked).
Not to mention, it came out minutes after we ordered. Our seats weren't even warm yet. 😅 Bookmarked and 100% returning.
This place is so underrated. I'm sad it isn't more busy. This place serves the classics well. The food is fresh and just great. To me Portland's comfort food is classic somewhat Americanized Thai and to me this place is a perfect example of this. It is never busy which is sad to me. It's a great place and the price is right. They also offer gluten free according to the menu. Portions are big. My husband and I split one dinner portion and while we weren't stuffed it was perfect for a lighter lunch.
Thai food is an especially competitive genre in Portland but this place stands out.
It was so good i would definitely come back the only complaint I have was the kid watching tic toks at full volume behind the counter. Besides it was perfect
So very satisfying
The food was delicious. Fresh ingredients; skillfully prepared. The atmosphere was problematic for me. I am super sensitive to mold. This is an old building in a city where most older buildings have water damage and thus mold growth. Unless you know you have sensitivity to molds, it's unlikely you would notice it here. There's no smell or visual evidence of mold. And the food is good! We were pleased with our pad Thai, pad kee mao, and vegetable stir fry.
Very friendly and nice people. The Yakisoba is full of flavor. This place has the best crab puffs I Have ever had.
Garlic asparagus & shrimp was *divine*; garlic spicy beans also very good. Peanut sauce on pra ram (friend's order) was also truly exceptional.
We were in the area and found this place and based on the high rating decided to go for Thai food. First off we were the only ones in the place on a Thursday night 6:30 pm. The floor was sticky. We ordered Pad Thai (tasted like vinegar and ketchup) and several other dishes. The winners were the masaman curry and thom Kai. Very suspicious of their rating based on our experience 🤔
The food was really good! Delicious and friendly staff! Super clean !
Phad Thai - lumps of sticky noodles, very little veg. Not going back.
The khao soy on special was really good.
Nothing bad but really just okay. Thai fried rice and noodles were pretty bland. Salad rolls were just lettuce and a strip of tofu. Fried tofu was good, but yeah, really middle of the road Thai food.
yum
Is the Beef Noodle Soup Kuay Teaw Nua?
Service was good. Food not so much. I can’t understand how this place gets five stars. The pad Thai my son had was cold and tasted odd. I had to return the Tom Kha soup as it was perfumey and the chicken in it was off. I feel sick to my stomach. Ugh. My husband’s dish was tasty however had only 3 or 4 small slices of green pepper when described as a pepper dish. My son’s Thai ice tea was great.
Easily over looked but the place is really good. I love all of the thai dishes I got here. All of them were amazing. I went during dinner time, I ordered orange chicken, pad thai, and pad khee mao. It’s the type where you share with family and friends. The place is cute and staff were really nice and the wait for food is not too long. Really recommend anyone that is craving thai. I could see myself always grabbing lunch here and/or having dinner. Hoping anyone who looks at this place to stop by and try something on the menu.
Everything I’ve eaten from here has been delicious.
I had a great lunch here with a coworker. The service was fast and the food was delicious.
YAY! A person can get superb Thai meal in Portland without cannabis and shrooms as the main. Ok so, as a native New Yorker, I am constantly surprised at how unthoughtful the Thai food and pizza is in Portland. (I will not go into the general local cultural lack of sense of humor or concrete communication style as a pain point because you live here too.) Deep breath. But honestly, until today, I had given up on getting good carbs or ethnic food anywhere in Oregon. Don't even try to get a bagel. Boiled doesn't mean bagel. I digress. Khao Thai is delicious! The spice levels are true to size. The vegetables are fresh, and its the best, the only, Thai food that I have had in Portland in the 7 years I have lived here that I would order from again, with anticipation! YAY! Thank you!
We had fresh salad rolls, spicy green beans, pad see ew and basil fried rice. All of them were delicious, full of flavor and we would definitely go back!
Really tasty food,
The food was delicious and was more than enough to satisfy me. Yum yum! I ordered the spicy cashew chicken and it was delish in a dish!
If there was an option to grant 7 or 8 stars for food (and value) I'd grant them!
great pad see ew
Great paht see ew. Great fast service.
EXCELLENT food! My dad is Thai and he has very high standards for Thai food, but he was super impressed with this place and says the cook is very good. If you want Thai food from a place that Thai people like, this is the place to go. I'd recommend the curry and egg rolls, but my parents got the wonton soup and spicy basil chicken and both really enjoyed those. I think it's a mom & pop shop so you're also helping to support a local business!
Amazing food! Highly recommend the green curry with tofu. Service was also excellent. Will definitely come back.
Perfect pineapple fried rice 🫶
AMAZING!! I LOVE THE THAI FOOD REALYY
AUTHENTIC!
Wonderful place!! Food is always on point!! And the service is amazing!!
Delicious food and amazing staff!!
Excellent food, Excellent service, Excellent portions, Excellent prices, Excellent enviornment. The five 5's of an excellent restaurant. Highly recommend
Great Thai food - delicious, fast and fresh. We’re big fans.
Lovely little mom and pop shop serving up quality food
Yum yum!
Really good Thai. Typical storefront location. Not fancy but very good across the menu.
Wonderful Thai food. They have lots of seating inside but do lots of take out quickly. Our server was very nice.
Super super super super delicious!!!! ❤️❤️🙏🏻
Surprisingly and delightfully spicy. Very good, will make it a regular place.
Rapid and V. friendly service. Good food!
Super friendly amazing food and service!
Excellent food, good sized portions, friendly service
Excellent service, delicious Tom kha!
I live in the neighborhood and I’ve been in twice already and I will keep coming back! I had the pad Thai and the pad see ew and each time is was absolutely cooked to perfection, seasoning and everything added to the dish made it absolutely delicious!! They also had wonderful kind service which is always a plus! Thank you Khao Thai, I am very greatful for you and the wonderful food you make, I’ll come see you soon 💗
Literally one of the best Thai food I’ve experienced in Portland, super nice people.
As a Thai, I must say that the authenticity and service was top notch. Definitely recommend
Good food good services.
Delicious everything! Curry was delicious, everything tasted fresh, and I will definitely be returning!
Just ordered pickup. Generous portions. Very tasty food. I've lived in NE Portland my whole life, and I'm familiar with all of the Thai restaurants in my neighborhood. I have to say, there's something about this place. The women behind the counter couldn't have been nicer. Seriously. They were effusive and lovely. Granted, we were the only people picking up (minor snow/ice on the roads), so I don't know how it will be when the place is packed, but I hope this restaurant gets packed soon. It seems to deserve the clientele.
Service was fast and food was authentic and delicious
Great food, great service, and cute waitresses! I found my new favorite Thai food spot!
