Serving Fresh and Healthy Thai Cuisine since 1999
I have been ordering from this Esan Thai Lents location multiple times, and they have never failed to deliver top notch food experience for great prices. I have ordered Pad Kee Mao, multiple Fried Rice dishes, Crab Cream puffs and soups. I wish I had taken more photos. They are rich in flavors and you can almost always taste the freshness of all ingredients. They are best had right after you pick up the order and it's still hot. I will be coming back for more!
I rarely leave reviews, but this place warrants the time. We live close and have ordered delivery at least ten times in the past year or two. It's always delicious and flavorful. Our favorites are the Thai fried rice, fried tofu, veggie dumplings, pork dumplings, coconut shrimp, salt and pepper shrimp (my favorite). The food cart is in a nice spot with a bar and indoor and outdoor seating. Good food cart pod in general. Parking is tough in that area so you gotta keep your wits about you with the freeway entrance and pedestrian traffic.
They serve halal chicken in their stir fry, so I got the pad see ew and replaced the beef with chicken. Super flavorful sauce, chewy noodles (not overcooked!), and a sizable portion enough for 2 people. My friend ordered the pad Thai which was decent. The only downside is how long it took to get our orders, it was pretty quiet but we waited over 30 mins for our two dishes. I’ll definitely be back for more Thai chicken dishes! 😍
Paid $3 for broccoli to be added to this chicken pad thai. I’ll let the photo speak for itself. Asked for medium spicy and that was the only “flavor”. Noodles horribly bland and very dry, no flavor whatsoever, no peanuts or carrots. Disgusting. When I called back to share my experience, got nothing in return. Save your money. This is the worst thai food I’ve ever had.
You have try thai wings and veggies dumplings.
The boy from cashier said they have for limited time for now.
My family always order from Uber eats for many years.
I’m glad and happy that they even open for snow cold days.
Food was super boring and not enough flavor. Didn’t taste fresh, tasted like a watered-down Panda Express type Chinese imitation of real Thai food which is supposed to be fresh, dynamic and tasty. The pot stickers I ordered tasted like the frozen ones I used to make when I worked as a line cook. The pad kee mao was mushy, boring mess and overall I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Very bad customer service. O was waiting 30 minutes for food. They closed the window and looking badly. 👎👎👎👎
The pad kee mao and Tom yum were both really good, perfect lunch spot
I love my Pad Kee Maoo here…
Love the salad roll too…

The last few times I’ve been here, the food quality has really disappointed compared to the first few times I went.

Their food is awesome. Portions are fair but the taste is fantastic. I love coming here for their pineapple fried rice and pad Thai.
I got a Thai tea and it tastes horrid. Tastes very salty and weird. I’m not sure what wrong with it, but I’ve never had Thai tea that tastes like how this one tastes and I’ve had Thai tea from tons of places
I always come here for thai food, food is always fresh and hot. When you’re craving for something spicy and fresh, you can count on them. Wait time was just so long for two items.
This is the best Thai food in Portland! I’ve been coming here for two years and have never been disappointed. The people who work here are super nice and the food is always amazing.
Best Thai food in town, the owners are such great people and i have been coming here for years. Highly highly recommend!!

I come here all the time and support this place. was a bit shocked when they wouldn’t address my food issue. I wasn’t able to eat the food
Esan is one of my favorite Thai places in Portland; I get lunch there at least twice a week. The owners and staff are all super nice and the food is excellent. They have a large selection of vegetarian options, and can make most if not all of them vegan if you ask. My favorites are the Pad Gaprao, Pad Phet, and Pad Prik Khing, which I get vegan and spicy. Highly recommend!
Five stars based on:
- salad rolls: a good tight (but not too tight) roll packed with freshness and tasty tofu in every bite, peanut sauce and sweet chili sauce. the ne plus ultra of salad rolls imo.
- papaya salad: deep rich funkness on the sauce, definitely in my top two papaya salads (my other being "lao & thai kitchen" on 72nd).
- pad prik khing: the coup de grace, with a deeply-layered sauce full of unique spices, with kick and a hint of sweetness that works so well. great ratio of meat and veggies, and all the veggies cooked perfectly.
The best Thai Food in Portland AND the nicest staff!
Great selection and always excellent quality!
Amazing people that make amazing food. I eat here probably three times a week. I've never been disappointed in the 3 years of eating here!
Very impressed! Her pad Kee Mao was off the hook!
The ingredients are so fresh!
I totally look forward to coming back here. Best Thai food I've had in a long time. And good prices! Highly recommend this delicious Thai food!
The BEST Thai food in Portland! My partner and I get takeout from here at least once a week, and are consistently blown away with the flavor and consistency that they're able to accomplish, especially in such a small food cart. Plus they are so friendly! Highlights include the drunken noodles, yellow curry w/ salmon (special) and coconut shrimp. We love this place, and hope you do too.
Good good but we waited 30 minutes for our food
There’s a reason they have been killing it since ‘99! Delicious, fresh and generous portions.
Top notch food, quality, taste and service. The staff there is amazing and one of the best around. It's a great atmosphere where they treat you with the utmost respect. Tram and Rafiel are really good people, and their staff seem happy.
Amazingly spicy pad thai!
Delish Thai! I had the pad Thai and a Thai ice tea. My husband had the yellow curry and we were both very happy! The price is right as well!
My favorite padthai 👍👍👍👍👍
My son and I picked this place using search along Route for Thai food. We were both in the mood for our favorite dish, pad se ewe. We had limited time and when I asked how long I was told 7 minutes and the food was ready in six! On top of that we were given a pager so that I could sit in my car out of the cold while waiting. I am excited to try some other dishes at this food cart the next time we're out that way.
We live in the neighborhood.. always eat here!! I usually get drunken noodles or red curry , my boyfriend gets a new plate every time because they are so good! But tonight I got my favorite drunken noodles with extra veggies and they were extremely overcooked and mushy. The business was rather busy on a Friday night of course(which explains the dish I got they probably were handling multiple plates!) but we decided to call and just let them know because we eat there all the time And never have anything bad. They insisted we pick out something.. either the same dish or something different and come get it whenever we wanted no questions asked! This is a great spot. I will always recommend. Amazing food, even better service!
Best Tom Yum in town! Spice levels are serious so dont go asking for medium spice and not expect a kick. I go medium hot and my mouth waters, its so good and the owners are kind people
Epic food, amazing fresh ingredients. Thai green curry is top notch and so are all the noodles and the tom yum soups. Great service and the owner is a wonderful person!
Hands down my favorite place to get Thai food in Portland. They're great with their spice levels and I've never been disappointed when trying new items from the menu.
We ordered mild pad Thai, and it's too spicy to eat.
Pretty good pad thai
My wife makes me get her food from here every Friday. They make very good food
Order delay too long time, only several customers, even you preorder 1 hour ago, they still delay your order more than half an hour, low efficiency
Green curry was delish
Food had no flavor and stale! I ordered a pad prik king with beef, medium spice level and crab puffs. The food had clearly been sitting for a while. Super spicy, no flavor. Crab puffs were so stale and hard to bite into. The beef was so rubbery. Very disappointed because I used to come here all the time and it never failed but now it isn't the same.
Got their Tom Kah soup and Green Cury yesterday and it was the best Soup and Curry I have had in a LONG time. I couldn't stop eating it. Bravo 👏 👏 👏 very very well done ❤
We ordered the Pad Kee Mow with tofu, Yellow Curry with chicken, and the crab puffs. As it was our first time we got everything mild spice level to see how it goes. There was a very little kick to everything, we will definitely do medium next time. The noodles were amazing and the tofu was really tasty. The curry was incredible, all the veggies (especially the potatoes) were perfectly cooked, chicken was flavorful and juicy, and the rice it came with was great as well. The crab puffs were the crowd pleaser. Perfect size and amount of filling and the texture was on point, fried well and not overdone. We ordered to go and got a drink inside while we waited. They give you a little beeper to let you know when your order is ready which was super helpful and convenient. Service was great! Looking forward to going back!
Mouth watering yummyness. Great place to stop. I am new to this restaurant and the lovely people running it suggested that my original choice might not be the best choice. With their super help I got an amazing meal! We had Squid, Pad Thai (beef), potstickers and #61(chicken). Highly recommend this place. Also there is a bar next to it where you can eat and get drinks. Plus plus
I love this location amazing food and great customer service 👍
Excellent service, great food. Get what you pay for
Food is so good. I will come back next time I crave Thai food
I go here a lot & it's always delicious! I always get what I ordered & the staff is always very nice. The food is always ready quickly even though they're so popular & busy🌟
The E-San Thai Cuisine Food Cart in Lents makes the best Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles) I have had in Oregon. The basil and veggies are fresh, the noodles are perfectly chewy, and the sauce has a delicate citrus tang. They are very busy at lunch today and it was absolutely worth the 20 minute wait. Very friendly service also.
Best phad thai!
The best!
I've always loved this place, delicious food, food so good it'll make you drool scratch and bark :3
Always delicious, but this review is more about the awesome humans that work there. Last night I was waiting for my order in front of the cart and a differently abled man came to the food carts. He was not wearing a mask and loudly speaking/yelling at each cart as he walked by. He ordered a dish from E-San and they informed him it would be 20 min as they were very busy. He said ok, but a minute later, got a different employee's attention and told them his bus would be there soon. The gentleman told the customer that they would go as fast as he could and would try to make it before the buss got there. The customer then stood directly in front of the cart and was not abiding social norms (example: he tried to open the cart window when there wasn't anyone there). The gentleman from E-San gently asked him to give space for everyone's safety (myself and others looked uncomfortable). The customer stepped back and realizing that everyone else was wearing one, put on a mask.
I wasn't there when the customer got their order, so I don't know if he made the bus, but I have no doubt that the staff did their best. I had to write this review because, though E-San has always provided me with good service, the kindness they showed to someone banging on their window, standing in front of their cart, and generally making a scene reminded me how in these terrible times, humans can be good to one another.
Great food and service
Awful service, 15 min waiting
Super slow and unorganized
Amazing taste 💕💕💕
This was delicious. And one dish packed some HEAT!! It was fantastic. Love the variety and options. Will be ordering again soon!
Love E-San Thai, but at this particular location they always deliver the wrong items. Most recently they waited 90 minutes after we placed our order to tell us it was cancelled.
the fried tofu appetizer looks really great on the picture, veggies, sprouts and some tofu. ordering you get a simple pile of tofu, nothing else. just tofu by itself. the picture on the website is very misleading.
Good food, good portions, very delicious. A little light on the flavor but definitely worth the money. My go to place, none the less. Great prices and friendly prompt service. I would have added photos but I ate it all before the review.
The food is good, but not worth the headache if they mess something up. They don't stand behind their product and won't make it right for the customer. They forgot to include something in my order and we're not willing to correct it. Too bad their customer service skills are lacking, that's a big part of what keeps customers coming back. As for our family, we won't be back. Too many other good Thai places around.
UPDATE: Earlier when I said the food was good was based off previous meals. Today the food was pretty flavorless. Don't waste your time with this place when there are SO many better options.
Phoned in an order at 4:42pm told them I would like to pickup at 5:15pm arrive at 5:20pm.... oh it's NOT ready? REALLY!!!!!! can you not figure out how to complete an order. 🤦♀️
Ordered take out for pick up and didn’t check the bag - since he listed out the items when I picked it up. They forgot the egg rolls, and it wasn’t worth it to drive all the way back. The Pad Thai was decent if not great, probably worth 4 stars. But we ordered the Pao Prik King in part because it was one of the only things on the menu that didn’t list mushrooms as an ingredient. Then it had mushrooms in it. Thankfully it was a preference issue rather than an allergy, but it’s really frustrating when places add vegetables that aren’t listed on the menu. Parking is also a total nightmare at dinner time even though there’s a dedicated parking lot.
This place is phenomenal great customer service Uber eats had originally messed up our order and they took it on themselves to make us a whole new order and gave us a free appetizer when we drove there to pick up our food thank you
The staff here are super nice! I order to go all the time and it's always ready within 10 to 12 minutes. The pad see ew is one of the best I've tasted 💓
The food is excellent.
There is so much mediocre Thai food in Portland, glad I found this place on the southeast side. Raphael rocks!
Close to my home. It's always been quick and tasty!
Delicious choice of foods for all types of people
Their food is great, and their customer service is even better!
Large menu so you will surely find something to like. I got the Pad See Ewe. I would have liked maybe a few more veggies in it. Liked that they had chili oil on the outside so the customer could choose their own heat level. Prices were good too.
Bangin grub and late hours
Great food truck with a great taste of Tai food. Its located at Red, FlipSide bar near foster 92nd.
Amazing pad kee mao. Spicy for a medium, but so MUCH flavor!
The curry here is always perfectly made and delicious. The serving sizes are larger than you would get at a brick and mortar restaurant for less money. Over all the food and feel of the place is authentic and leaves you feeling full and happy.
I love this place I go there at least 3 times a week great food and amazing service.
Best pad see ew
This place has really good food and they stay open late and it can be delivered to you through Uber or Postmates I believe Uber for sure
Open late and my go to for a fast, tasty meal.
Some of the best Thai food in Portland!!
My favorite thai place! Love the customer service and food here
I have eaten at thai restaurants and food carts throughout Portland and this is my favorite. I have eaten here over 10 times and every time the dishes are so full of flavor (and spice if you ask for it!). The panang curry and pad kee mao are spot on.
An added bonus is the owners are super friendly and I have seen them take care of the other food cart owners in the area. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Seriously amazing Thai dishes and friendly service! Highly recommended. Can grab a beer next door as well.
Amazing Thai food and friendly people! Can’t wait to come back soon :)
Very Friendly and convenient. But tasted bland to me. I really wanted to love this place. The price was average for carts, but sadly the pad thai lacked flavor and seemed to have less meat/protein than other places. Just kinda felt lackluster to me.
Fyi: Do not attempt to park in the parking lot if you have anything bigger than a Honda civic. Even if you have skills with bigger vehicles, it's really just easier to park on the street and walk a block.
E-san cart is great. The asian fusion cart was ok even tho they gave me the wrong order.
Best Tom Kha soup I’ve had in a long time. Pineapple rice is delicious. Their prices are super reasonable, all around excellent meal!
Best Thai food in town, great customer service!
Excellent food and service.
The owner is super friendly, and everything I've tried here has been awesome! You can't go wrong, and I stop here almost every week, so I've tried quite a few things. I highly recommend the Thai Sausage fried rice. The sausages are made locally specifically for them, and are unlike any others I've had. Great spices and lime leaf flavor.
Amazing food!
So happy this opened near me!
This particular location is excellent. I have been to some of the others and wasn't impressed. The owner is a great guy and really knows his food. The best drunken noodles I've had in a long time. The phad Thai he makes puts most everyone else's around here to shame. Noodles are always cooked perfectly, and his spice is spot on. He will actually give you some heat without just throwing chili oil on and turning it into a greasy mess. I've been here every week since they opened.
