Rice Thai Cookery is a family-owned business and is built on our passion for authentic Thai cuisine. We serve authentic Thai cooking alongside a menu full of yummy dishes and even more delicious drinks.
Love this place for a quick bite at lunch is when I usually go. Love downtown Milwaukie and Rice Thai Cookery adds to the love. Great food. Good portions. Fast service and so kind. Good seating, although the bandwidth in the restaurant is slow and sometimes non-existent meaning you may have to talk to your person across the table.π take out is fast and packaged well and stays warm. I love the chicken pad Thai and love the peanut sauce. Parking is not great at busy times.
I am so incredibly impressed and relieved that I found a new favorite curry place so close to my house. I've ordered yellow curry many times from multiple places throughout the years and this is by far one of the best. The curry was not runny, watered down and lacking in substance like most other places. It was thick and packed full with food. And has the added delight of different color bell peppers which is not typical of other places. Also, the rice was fresh and soft. Most other places I've ordered takeout from comes with crusty, hard, old rice. I just love the yellow curry from here and will be ordering it regularly from now on. I'm excited to try other stuff on the menu as well.
Been wanting to try this Thai food restaurant for awhile, decided to stop by for lunch. I had the chicken fried rice dish with spring rolls. It wasnβt the best Iβve had nor the worse. Iβd say itβs a 3.6 for food. The restaurant looked clean including the bathroom. Wonβt be the first on my list for Thai food .
Been going here for over a decade - family gets lots of take out. And while itβs one of our favorite eateries in Portland Metro, it seems to be trending the wrong way.
Recently have had several entrees that were just not up to snuff, not bad, but certainly not superb. We have also experienced our to go orders being incorrect as of late. Donβt want to stop spending our dollars here, but not sure how many more sub par experiences we are interested in. We are hoping bad experience just a fluke and RTC gets back to their GOAT status.
I don't often write positive reviews for places, but this place deserves one. That's how good Rice Thai Cookery is. The best Thai food I've ever had, and I've been to Thailand...twice. I got the yellow chicken curry. So flavorful and tender. My friend got the chicken pad Thai and was also very impressed. This place is a hidden jem in downtown Milwaukie. One of those places you walk past often but never stop in at. Do yourself a favor and give it a chance.
Great taste. Used to live in koh lanta and koh tao in thailand. My tod mun pla and fried rice were just like at 'home'
got take out and the noodles had absolutely no flavor. I ordered pad see ew, the noodles were still white, no flavor what so ever. will never return.
Went for a family celebration and had a good time! Food was good and service was mostly good as well. A nice place and we will probably go back!
Good food, quick and friendly

Oregonian living in Bangkok, here, and I must say... this place does BKK justice. Well done, krub ππ
Thai food made here is really great!
It's always fun to communicate with staff in their Thai vernacular.

You can't use ingredients that aren't fresh and expect people to not be able to taste that. I ordered the peanut chicken with shrimp and right away I could tell the chicken was not fresh. You can't wash, cook, or spice away that taste off of the chicken.
We met up with friends and had an amazing meal
I had the Pineapple Curry along with the tofu salad wrapps
There red curry is my go to. Girlfriend got the Pad-Thai and said it was the best she has ever had. I want to try new things, but I can't get past my favorite dish...

The food was delicious!! Will be back . We had seafood with veggies very good and spicy basil chicken. Both very yummy.
I've wondered about this place for a while, and I was in the neighborhood tonight so I stopped in for dinner.
I ordered the red curry duck special, and it was out before long. The dish was great - and unexpectedly nuanced - and they didn't skimp on the duck. I ordered it spicy, and it had enough chili to get my attention (I'm a bit of a spice hound), but not too much to detract from the juxtaposition of the savory and sweet elements.
The restaurant has friendly staff and a low-key atmosphere accentuated with vintage Americana and low lighting.
Well worth it for a $20 meal!
Our waiter was lovely but sadly that was the only good thing about our experience.
Pad Thai came with a crazy amount of bean sprouts (there were equal sprouts to noodles) but no rice. Noodles had VERY LITTLE sauce on them. Which was a shame because the peanut sauce is nice.
Chicken satay had pathetic thin little pieces of rubber chicken. The βcucumber saladβ was nothing but 3 quarters of a slice of cucumber in the dressing.
Also, not sure what was going on but the water tasted mildewy.
I had been craving Thai food for days and unfortunately this experience is very disappointing. They skimped on ingredients and over price the dishes. We will not be back.
Best Thai food around.
I and my wife had been trying for dinner so good and service was great and clean we will comeback again soon
Had a wonderful red curry with tofu. Delicious and the staff were so nice. Can't wait to go back. My friend had the peanut sauce. So good.
Amazing food. Had Penang curry. Great service
Good Thai food in a slightly strange southern America themed restaurant.
Very tasty and family run. Right next to the beer store so you can go in and grab beers to go while you wait for your take out
I haven't been here in quite a while.
We had their special lunch rice noodle soup. The broth was tasteless, the meat was tough, the meatballs were so unappetizing to even look at, I didn't try them. Our waitress didn't even ask us if we wanted to take the abundant leftovers home. Disappointing.
The food is fantastic. :)
Been here more times than I can count and have never had a bad experience. The food is always top notch and so is the service. Best Thai food in the area.
A treasure in historic downtown Milwaukie! Thank you for serving the community with your tasty dishes and friendly service!
Really good thai food, nice people
I'll give it another try, but in my first visit here was not a great one. The second bite of my chicken teriyaki was all gristle and I had to sneakily spit it into my napkin. The teriyaki sauce was watery and not very flavorful and it was expensive considering it's a pretty inexpensive dish to make.
The doors to get in are the heaviest i have ever encountered in any restaurant in my entire life, I kid you not. No worries about any children or elderly folk getting in here, because they won't be able to.... and watch your step on the ramp inside because it's easy to trip on.
I'm not sure what a Thai restaurant is shooting for with the decor (old American advertising is strewn about) but so far, it's the best thing about this place because somehow it works.
Perhaps other dishes are better, so I'll give this place another try sometime!
The door is very hard to open. The cell service is non existent inside
I work down the street from this place, so I eat take-out there very regularly. I love their crab wontons, spring rolls, and crab fried rice most. Food is always fresh, service is wonderful, prices are reasonable.
The worst Thai food I've ever had in my life it was overcooked dried out overpriced small portions and I even work with some people from Thailand that said the food is horrible and they would never eat there again anybody that thinks it's great hasn't had much experience eating Thai food cuz there's a lot better places out there would never eat there again
Recommended by a friend and glad we followed the suggestion. We ordered online and our food was ready for pickup in about 15 minutes. Everything in the order was well prepared. Food was very tasty and exactly as expected. Great value as the prices are better than similar Thai restaurants in the area.
We love love this place for dine in and take out. The spicy mango dish is great, salad rolls, pad see ew, etc. we havenβt had a dish we havenβt loved.
We love ordering take out from here! It's always our go-to when want something we know we'll love. The massaman and green curries are our favorite!
The food was good lots to pick from not very big portions for the price. Service was good was a nice quiet place.
Best Thai in the area. Yellow curry is amazing
When we coerce our people to come visit us in Milwaukie, they are always happy to have made the trip when we go to Rice Thai. Great food!
Food was amazing! And the service was awesome!
Love their salad rolls. So fresh and delicious .
I love this restaurant! They have great food friendly and attentive staff and an extensive menu. Every time I have gone there the food has been excellent. Tonight I got Panang Curry and my friends good the green curry and Pad Thai everything was delicious, because there was no leftovers despite the large sharing size portions.
My local Thai place, and I love it! I recommend the spicy eggplant and the curries.
got the Pad Kee Mao with chicken,
flavor was there.. Way to many noodles compared to all the other
ingredients. had a few bell peppers. The chicken was chewy
& some inedible parts.
seemed rushed. Flustered staff.. very disappointing..
Won't be back.
This place was excellent and service was amazing. We will be back! Nice sit down Thai restaurant.
Great little place friendly and fun the food was great it was clean and device was really fast .
Amazing Thai
Wonderful food.
My favorite place for delicious Thai food.
I absolutely love this place. I've been going here 9-10 years the service is excellent. I mostly order the appetizers their salad rolls with peanut sauce . I love the atmosphere a rusic antique feel. I keep coming coming back absolutely delicious.
Love these place, service, food amazing.
Good and prices are always good. Staff is always attentive and super sweet!
5 yrs ago this Restaurant got a great review from moi. Today I'm altering my opinion. Food was more "americanized" Thai. We ordered via grubhub and picked up...Flavours bland, veggies from cans or prechopped in bags, meat quantities very small. Very nice staff, glad they were open on a holiday we don't celebrate, but....
we found a thick black hair in our peanut sauce. I did call this one in and he agreed to refund the 4 bucks we'd paid for it. We have grey and blonde hair.
prolly won't be back.
If you are sugar conscious, they will not include sugar in your meal if asked. This is extremely rare. I am so thankful to have found a place that will accommodate.
This has got to be, some of the WORST Thai food I have ever had in my life!
Not to mention that the portions are for children under five.
Great recommendation last night from the server for pineapple curry ! Thank you really enjoyed the meal :)
Had to leave a review because our meal was outstanding. Noodles and vegetables were cooked perfectly and sauces were fresh and vibrant. Portions were perfect.
One of the best Thai places Iβve ever eaten! Fast, great prices, good quality and delicious options! The staff are so friendly and itβs located in a great spot in downtown Milwaukie next to the beer store! Highly recommend
Absolutely amazing Thai, fresh fresh & delicious. Pad Thai, fried rice, fresh rolls, the yellow curry, all so great. Really good house peanut sauce!
Food was great! Service lacked. But will go back
Pad See Ew noodles were mushy and there was hardly any sauce in the dish; very bland. Pad Thai sauce was very acidic, did not taste like peanut sauce, and had a fishiness to it.
Pot stickers and spring rolls were very good.
Weird experience. Bummer closest Thai food but rather drive to sellwood or 217 hey from now on. Potential is there. Needs to be cleaned a lot.
This is a repeat destination for me. Their menu is affordable and tasty.
Really good salad rolls, pad se ew and pineapple fried rice
Very good flavor, cooking techniques, and attentive customer service!
Very large portions
I really love the food here. My fav is the Pad Kee Moa. I don't normally have mixed drinks but I did the last time I was there. I had a Mangotini, and it was delicious.
Nice local Thai restaurant. Good food and pleasant atmosphere.

Place seems well ran and food looks good.
Order the pad see ew and fried rice. both fair not excellent. Will give it another try and report back
some of the best pad see ew around
Consistently excellent food and service. Was a dine in favorite but super fast for to go orders these days. I'm a fan of the salmon curry and the jungle noodles.
First time here. Got Pad See Ew with pork. It wasnβt the greatest. Mostly noodle, very scant broccoli and carrot, and there was just something missing from the flavor palate. The tofu salad rolls were delicious though!
Friendly service and pretty good food.
This is our take away Go-to! So tasty every time!
This is my go-to thai spot. Everything I've ordered has been very flavorful and fresh The curries are great, I love the Kao Soi. Thank you everyone at Rice Thai!
This food is scrumptious! I love coming here for lunches.
Good food, spice is just right but they'll make it as hot as you like!
So fresh and the very best peanut sauce ever. Delivery in Milwaukie was within 20 minutes. Dining in, the service is always stellar in a warm, inviting and clean atmosphere. I feel so fortunate that this restaurant is in our home town. Love it!
Great experience! Consistently get the app platter, green papaya salad (extra spicy) and Kao pad kra prao -- always really good. Some other items have been meh or hit and miss but you can say that about any place. The service is always spot on.
The best fresh salad rolls literally anywhere in Portland. I make it a goal each time I travel somewhere to try thai salad rolls first on menu before I order anything else. Its my litmus test. Fab priced w peanut and sweet and sour sauce.
Kitsch environment w eclectic mix of vintage decor and new.
5 awesome STARS
I've eaten here like three times in the past week and I'm still not tired of it.
No flavor in *anything* except peanut sauce. Not even in the ballpark for Thai food. It's like no seasoning was used - not even fish sauce. Eat elsewhere & avoid.
Our food was flavorless. Ive never had pad see ewe that only tasted like chicken broth. We were impressed with their ability to avoid any distinctive flavor with the exception of peanut in the peanut sauce. Remarkable.
Always good!
I've only had the Thai iced tea to go but I love it
This is by far our favorite Thai food in town. All of the dishes we've tried are full of flavor. Peanut sauce is amazing! Every time we visit a new Thai place we end up comparing it to Rice Thai. They've set the bar high for us!
Food is great. Young girl at register could smile once in awhile
Best curry I have ever had hands down. Also some amazing chicken dishes. Be warned when you ask for spicy its spicy. Orders are usually prepared pretty fast to
Mango curry, fire!
Recommend their Drunken Noodles
i see some people have had bad experiences here.. not me though, have eaten here regularly for 2 years
orders always correct and foods always good.
best thai food around hands down
their yellow chicken curry is primo
We really enjoyed it. There was a slight mixup with our order that was quickly remedied, but both dishes were delicious and our server was solid.
Pad thai π
Excellent. A hidden gem.
I ordered yellow curry I chose mild for the spice level and this is the spiciest yellow curry Iβve ever had and itβs definitely not mild. Luckily I was able to eat it it is flavorful and somewhat good but Iβm not a spicy person. If it wasnβt so spicy itβd be great.
Absolutely amazing, fresh, delicious food. Ordered a plethora of dishes, crab fried rice, moo ping, BBQ chicken, all scrumptious and definitely made with love. They have the best Thai tea, the plum sauce is crazy. I give 6 starsπ€
Their fried rice is the shiznit and they have several different protein options which are all fantastic, nom nom nom.
I've been here a few times now, and every time I go, I leave wondering why I don't frequent it more often. The staff is great and the food is always hot, fresh and delicious. I lean towards the drunken noodle or Pad Thai and it is always amazing. Definitely worth the visit.
Great food !!!!!
Mom wanted pad thai with no heat, I wanted mine medium. They were perfect. They were busy but still had our food out quickly. Delicious
Simply fantastic Thai food. And great service! The lunch specials here are a really good deal. You'll want to order way too much and take home a bunch for sure. Highly recommended!!
Nice place, great service. Amazing food. I LOVE the pumpkin curry, it is SO good.
Its decent thai food. Not great, not bad. I like to judge thai food places with their pad woon sen, and its decent and filling.
I'm only giving three stars because this place is super hit or miss. I've had great food with wonderful taste. Then I've had very bland food. Portion sizes are good either way.
Yum!
I've always really enjoyed the food here. They have good lunch special portions.
Ordered take out. Young woman and young men were not friendly at all and definitely seemed not to be happy - didnβt smile even once.
Best pad kee mao I've had. Been eating here for years. They are also one of the only ones you can have a cocktail at.
Honestly, had I never had actual Thai food I might have liked this. Also if I didn't like any spice to my food. Unfortunately though I have had good Thai food and I do like to have some kind of flavor to my dish. So I just can't recommend this place unless you like bland spiceless recipes.
This was my first time trying this place. I got the Crab fried rice and OH MY GOSH! It was so delicious! I'd give it 10 stars if I could! Can't wait to try other things from the menu.
We have catered lunches once a month at my work. Rice Thai Cookery is one of the favorites with my coworkers. Their food is delicious, their service is great, and their employees are friendly and professional. If you like Thai food, I highly recommend Rice Thai Cookery.
Not impressed. Super sweet Thai tea. Tasted like no Thai tea I've ever had. The Chicken Pad Thai came with 4 measly pieces of chicken and was mediocre at best. Husband ordered chicken mango curry and asked for it to be made hot and spicy, it came mild. Our server never smiled, didn't make eye contact, and was not friendly at all. She looked annoyed to be there, and was irritable with customers. She never filled up our water glasses, or checked on us. Not a place we feel compelled to visit again.
Always amazing food! Best curry within 5 square miles!
Really nice people and food.
Delicious! Fast service tooπ
This 5 star review is dedicated to the best Pad Kee Mau in town. Great staff, good prices for the portion size and great quality food overall. 10/10 recommended.
Great take-out! Fresh ingredients, great flavors, cooked perfectly. Red Curry and Pad Woon Sen were family hits.
The best spring rolls in the world. Also peanut sauce is to for for
Tasty food. Service is ok. Still worth checking out.
Great food and great service! Thank you.
Nice place to fit a crowd. They were very gracious when the kids in our group got antsy. Go for the curry dishes (nom) instead of the stir fry which was a little lackluster flavor-wise despite the "spicy" indicator next to it on the menu.
