This is a really neat spot!! The woman who takes orders was super sweet to me and my friend. You have the option to customize the spice level of your food. I got the Thai fried rice with pineapple and a Thai tea. My friend got the Pad Thai with a spice level of 6. We also got the spring rolls. I was super happy with the food. In my opinion, tastes pretty authentic. I had been craving spring rolls and rice for a while and this hit the spot. Thank you Ban saisong! I'll definitely be coming back.

The girls were begging to go back again. This husband and wife always impress us with the delicious food, service, kindness and creativity. The girls love the fried rice, veggie rolls and of course the surprise sweets! They even enjoy the Pad Tai(level 2 spicy).
Next time we're forcing ourselves to try more options.
Give them some business, I know you'll enjoy it!
I’m pretty disappointed in my lunch today. This was my all time favorite for Thai in the past. I ordered lunch today. And the veggies which are my favorite part were clearly frozen. Typically I would order extra snow peas and that was not an option today. The flavor was bland. It is just much different form when Bob ran it. So sad about this review.
Small restaurant off 21st. Order and seat style. No waiter.
Limited seating. In fact, limited room. Good take out traffic. I won’t say this is a dine in restaurant. Doesn’t have that kind of feel.
Food is okay. I think simplified. Fried rice is good but soggy. Laab is pretty simplified. Not what I expected Laab dish to take like. Thai pho was good, small portion.
It is so hard to find authentic high quality Thai food since I moved to Ohio. This place reminded me of my childhood eating at Thai restaurants in California. Absolutely delicious. They were very generous with ingredients, and unlike with other places the rice was moist and fresh
This is definitely a hidden gem in Newark! The Tom Yum soup with beef is unbelievably delicious. The Yaki-Soba is also really good with beef. I got 0-1 spice level for both the soup and noodle dish. The mango and sticky rice is also good but I think there might a little coconut flavor and I am just not a huge fan of coconut but is still good! I will be going back, even if it’s just for the soup 🍲
Very polite costomer service , always able to flex to how we prefer our food and what goes in it , found our favorite Pad Thai spot ever hands down nothing else compares
Pad Thai chicken a little spice extra peanuts
Thai tea for drink everything is divinely delicious

Dinner was very tasty. The crab rangoon is amazing.
One of my absolute favorite restaurants healthy and delicious! Hidden gem ♥️

Sometimes the best food can be found in a little hole in the wall locations. That perfectly sums up this place. Great crab rangoon, pad thai, pahd see iew, mango sticky rice and just the nicest owners. Pretty bare bones and tight for eating in but I would do take out from here any time!
The food was delicious and the owners were incredibly friendly and gave great service. Plenty of gluten free and vegetarian options, and they went above and beyond to make sure my kids enjoyed their meal. Would highly recommend
The place maybe small inside but the service and the food was amazing! I wish I could eat there everyday!

Authentic and delicious. Food is fresh and flavorful. I also agree with another reviewer that the Crab Rangoon are on point!
Love the food here. Best for carryout only. Glad they recently added crab Rangoon & egg rolls too. Hubby loves the red curry with chicken & I change it up every time & have never had a bad meal. Hits the spot when I have a craving for noodles.
So good! Can't wait to return!
Best Pad Thai I've had in Ohio
Tom Kha with Tofu was AMAZING! And the Thai Tea was the sugary drink of your dreams 😍
On point for a Gluten free and Dairy free meal as they use rice and coconut milk. Green curry was better than most although they served with sticky rice which wasn’t the texture I’d wanted. Will be back for this hole in the wall gem. 💎
Fantastic food. We got the drunken noodle and the Sen-Lek Kee-Mao, and the fresh rolls with pork. Honestly, this is some of the best Thai food I've ever had. We got smalls, and it was still a ton of food! I HIGHLY recommend going here, the vegetables were clearly fresh, the seasoning was perfect, and it was super affordable. EAT HERE. DO IT.
Food is good, a little slow sometimes though

So good! Loved the drunken noodles and the pho
My friends and I absolutely loved it here! The food was so good. Even the small portions were enough to fill us up completely.
I can genuinely say I’ve never felt more valued at a restaurant before — they went out of their way to make us feel welcome while we enjoyed the meal. We’ll be back!!
Crab Rangoon is on point and the green curry was excellent. A little bit of a language barrier but overall a great experience.
This is my favorite restaurant in Newark, Ohio. A fabulous hidden gem I stumbled upon recently. I have been back three times this month and each time the quality is amazing and owners are super sweet.
Good food, good people, in a ity bity space (but not if you're carrying out)..
It's been a few months since I've ordered from this restaurant, and I always loved the food. I love heat, and I always ordered mine with a spice level of #15, and it was perfect 😋🌶🔥
I called to place an order, and I spoke with someone new. They said they would not do a spice level that high because no one would be able to handle that 😒
I tried to explain to this person that I am quite familiar with the spices and it's not a problem. No luck on that one. So, this person said they could put some on the side. (It wasn't enough)
Then, while having some semblance of some heat, the food itself had no flavor to it. I have since been told that the restaurant has new owners. This saddens my heart. What was once a great restaurant that had great food, even if it was a little pricey, has been reduced to this. I can honestly say that I will have to search for another place to get Thai food.
This is a small restaurant that has great food, I have never been disappointed in anything I have ordered. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting authentic Thai food.
Great food, Good service, I love real Thaifood
Food was 100% authentic and mind blowing. Pho was AMAZING as well was the mango sweet sticky rice. The owners had the best customer service and went above and beyond to make their customers happy.
This was the first time to eat here. the food came out very quickly and it was running fresh. It is a very small eatery that has a couple of seats in it but the owner is looking to expand it. the prices were very good and the quality of the food was very good. I definitely recommend eating at this establishment.
I suggest the crab ragoon. You get 6 for $6.95. They are big pieces stuffed with filling. Nice crispy golden. Took home and was still perfect.
Great food and service.
The best Thai Food I have ever tasted! The service was great and a lovely Thai couple runs the whole shop! The pad thai has so much flavor and the noodles were delicious!
One of my favorite places to eat in Newark. Food is always top notch and service is always great, super friendly. The drunken noodles and pho are my go to dishes. Always delicious! 😋 🤤
Ban Sai in Newark is a true gem tucked away in the heart of Ohio. With every bite, you're transported straight to the bustling streets of Bangkok. The authenticity of the flavors is undeniable, and each dish sings with a chorus of traditional spices. But what truly sets this place apart is the warmth of the staff. Their kindness radiates, making you feel like you've been invited into a family home. A visit to Newark isn't complete without a meal here. Unquestionably, a must-eat destination.
I can not give this place enough praise. Everything on the menu is amazing, the curry, the noodles, the stir fry, the sweet mango rice. I recommend it all! And now they serve sushi, I am in heaven.
It's run by a very friendly and knowledgeable husband manning the counter and an amazingly talented wife cooking everything fresh to order for you. And they've just brought on a very talented man who is helping broaden the menu (sushi!) Definitely check it out if you haven't been, you will love it.
Love their food but the owner needs to use fresh vegetables not frozen. However, I've visited the restaurant on numerous occasions
Pretty bland, it's like having flavorful food described to you. For the price there are better options.
Hands down my favorite take out restaurant in Newark. They cook the food with care and always serve quality dishes. I love the salads, noodle dishes, curries and specialties. I have ate here numerous times a month for years. If you like quality food with fresh ingredients than this place is likely to have you addicted. Thank me later.
Their menu online is old..
Need to go there to see the current menu
Their pad tai is a bit too sweet, but it has a very light wonton soup...I reused the soup to make a rice soup.
It's so hard to find good authentic pad Thai in Ohio...most places are sugar covered flavors. Only one place I had was very good, but they closed the restaurant many years ago.
Do not eat there when it's hot...the AC is not on and the exhaust fan in the kitchen is not on either...the smell is not good for your lungs.
Owner was rude on the phone when trying to ask him questions will never go here again
This place is incredible. I travel a lot and I honestly don't think I've had better Thai food (except maybe at home). Today was supposed to be just a quick and easy (not to mention cheap) take-out, but what I got instead blew my mind. This is nowhere near the take-out that you think about.
I got the chicken coconut soup with the wontons as well beef cashew stir-fry. Both were full of complex and tasty flavors. Not watered down at all. Will come again if I'm around town.
Good food. Good service.
Got the pineapple fried rice with chicken. I can't say with words how good it was. I wasn't expecting much coming in but holy HELL this food is good. Great portion size too.
5 stars :)
Delicious! Found it on Google just passing through the area and was very pleasantly surprised to find vegan/vegetarian food with perfect spices. Would absolutely stop by again. Thank you!
Great food, Large portions at a good price.
Moving out of the cities, finding comfort food was the hardest. When I found Ban Sai Express Thai Street Food, I was filled with excitement. I order through phone for take out. The customer service was amazing! The food was even more amazing! It brought comfort to me as Thai food is my comfort food. Everything from the Pad see ew and the Tom kha was so delicious. I'm glad I'm only a few minutes away. Will order again!
Fantastic hole in the wall. Food is way underpriced for how delicious it is. I typically get their tom kha and pho, but everything i’ve tried on their menu is absolutely fantastic. 100% would recommend to anyone in the area to give it a try
I got the pad thai and it was delicious. Vegan friendly options too! Would definitely recommend a try!
The best Thai food in Central Ohio. Small establishment, best to place a to-go order, and the wait time is generally around 45 minutes. Believe me, it is well worth the wait. This is like the home cooked Thai, not the mainstream fusion Thai.
Everything here is amazing , I'm so lucky this is near my house. Also the guy that answers the phone is always super nice
Great Pad Thai, best I've had!
I have been here several times, and it's always fantastic. The rolls are so light and crisp and fresh, and the peanut satay and chili sauces both go great with them. I've had the yellow curry, pad basil, and curry fried rice. The spiciness was a little lacking the first couple of times ordering 4/5 heat, but today I asked for "make me wish I was never born", and they NAILED it. I think this place is going to be my Wednesday ritual for a long time to come.
Last time ate there both me and my son got sick really bad
Had the yellow curry and pad basil. Both were phenomenal. A large yellow curry ($14) with rice was 3 full meals for me. Their rolls were also delicious. Light and crisp, ant the peanut sauce that came with them was amazing. I'll definitely be going back soon.
This is one of my all-time fave places to eat. You can taste the love in the food here and you literally can't go wrong with anything on the menu.
Always delicious
The sweet and sour chicken is the best I’ve ever had
I ordered the Masaman Curry and the depth of flavor is out of this World. Very friendly and the food is made custom to your flavor preferences. Will definitely be returning.
I rarely give out five stars especially these days due to pandemic so the store's "atmosphere" (which I used to normally figure into my reviews) won't count . Ban Sai only has 2 tables so it's as close to being a pandemic era ghost kitchen as you can technically get. That said, since discovery, I have been eating only a very small portion of the ample menu but that makes little difference because I know whatever it is going to be no less than 4 star great!
It’s so good, they’ll spice it up or leave it out if you like,. Absolutely delicious, the flavor is amazing, a gem I just found!
Very good.
I’ve only ever had Thai food this good and it was in NY! I’ve tried many Thai restaurants from across the east coast from FL to NY
I have to add my review to the many 5 star reviews this place keep pulling in. This is where I get my most favorite dish of all (if you can call soup “a dish”). The Tom Kah soup is just amazing. Love, love, love it. And the rest of their food is just as good.
First time here....wow! Excellent curry chicken, Thai salad. Definitely returning. I am picky about authentic Thai and Indian food. This was the real deal!
Delicious fresh food that that you can order with your choice of spicyness. The owner\ proprietor is friendly and is glad to help with your order.
Absolutely delicious! We ordered a large Drunken Noodles to share and it was fresh and hot from the kitchen. Flavors are definitely right on and authentic. We will most definitely be back to try more of the menu items!
Great food! Great prices! Huge portions!
Never had Thai food. It was superb! Freshly made and were helpful in getting the right spice for my entree. I loved the Drunken Noodles. I will reccomend it to anyone.
Great food. Noodles were done well.
Hidden gem. Authentic food, amazing soup, hearty portions. Friendly staff too!
This place introduced me to Thai food and made me love it! The best place that I didn’t even know existed! 10/10
Was looking for a place to grab something for lunch and thought I’d stop by. Ordered the pad thai with tofu and it was delicious! Owner was very friendly too! I had no idea there was a Thai place so close by, but I’ll definitely be going back.
Delicious food!
This restaurant has the world's worst chicken gumbo and garlic bread
The food from this place is outstanding. This was the first time ordering from here. We got the yellow curry, Pad Thai, fresh rolls, and Thai fried rice. This compares with anything I’ve had in big cities of DC, Columbus or Denver. So glad we found it!
The food was awesome, it taste great and had a nice texture to it. The service was nice too, with welcoming workers.
Authentic Thai food that is fantastic!
Fantastic food! We have eaten here several times and everything is always great!
💜💯
The food was great tasting and the service was wonderful. We will definitely be stopping for take out again.
Great Thai food and they now have tofu. Flavors are on point. Servings are plentiful. Great vegan/ vegetarian options. Bonsai Express is a great dining option near downtown Newark.
Literally best food I've ever had!!!
My go -to dishes are the Thai fried rice and that new Thai spaghetti dish. Amazing food and even better customer service !!!
Absolutely delicious always cooked fresh each order, extremely friendly owner and awesome prices!!!!
Best curry in town! We are lucky that Newark has a Thai option like this. Just about anything on their menu can be made vegetarian, as well. Don’t screw this up, Newark, support them so they will stick around.
Aloy mak mak!....owner is jai dee mak! Food very yummy. Good place for thai soul food!
Great food at good prices, with gluten free options available.
Ordered the Pad Pak with chicken and shrimp, spicy level 5, oh my was it good. The Pad Tai was also sooo good. And you have got to try the Tom Yum soup
ขอบคุณ...❤🙏🏼💐
Absolutely delicious! Try the drunken noodles!
This has to be one of the most underrated places in Newark. The food... SOOOO GOOD and everything is fresh! Cooked to order for the spice level, very important to someone who has very little tolerance for spice who is married to a guy who LOVES that stuff. Your order is going to take some time, because they take the time to prepare it just for you. The soups, ya'll Tom Yum and the best Won Ton I've ever had.
Incredible service and incredible food...what more is there to say?
I recently started spending two or three days in Newark weekly as of the last few months, and this was my first time actually trying food beyond my normal safe picks. I came here on a whim after a hard workout, little dinky spot, colorful walls and a couple decorations, nothing over the top. It had a certain hole in the wall charm to it. Food was a 15 minute wait and it was worth it. Let me say, it was still piping hot when I got home (about a 10 minute drive) and was very delicious. Pad see ew was my dish, though, I wish I asked for more heat, the flavor was there and it was great. I really do highly recommend this spot, I will happily come here often with my stays.
Found this looking for a new place close to home. It's located in a small space next to a quick mart, but oh man! The people running it are so nice and the food is awesome! The prep time is reasonable as well for the quality of the food. I got one of each of their pork buns(spicy, sweet), shrimp pad cashew, and Thom kha soup. Everything was delicious! Seriously consider stopping in if your close
I don't go out to eat much because I'm gluten free but there are many options here and this is the best Thai food I've ever had you gotta try the beef fried rice!!!
The Druken Noodle dish is wonderful.
Great food and friendly owners, I would recommend trying it out for yourself. I look forward to coming back and trying the steamed buns.
very delicious! i got the chicken pad thai and it was some of the best ive had, not too soupy not too dry. definitely a must have whenever im in town
Phenomenal authentic Thai food! Drunken Chicken was outstanding. Highly recommended. I didn’t have a chance to try the steamed buns will be back.
Very happy to have an Authentic Thai food here in Newark. We welcome you to our neighborhood. It is a very simple decor and run by a husband and wife combo. Thai King's picture help to reaffirm its authenticity.
Must try their curry and Thai hot and sour soup. Make sure you check with them on the heat level of each dish. Their mild dishes will still have a little heat.
Last don't forget the steam buns. They are the delicate little jews on the menu.
Spectacular! We spent 3 weeks in Thailand and Vietnam this summer and the food at this place is every bit as good as the food we ate on our travels. This was our first visit and we had: pad see ew, panang curry, Tom kha gai soup and the papaya salad. Only a couple of small criticisms. The veggies and meat in the panang curry were a bit overdone and on the soft side. Personally, I like the vegetable to have a bit more snap. Also can’t figure out why one of the least expensive types of food in the world is on the expensive side when served here in the states (applies to all Thai places). But . . . The fact that you can get different portion sizes with different prices is welcome and very much appreciated. Even with the small critiques, this place gets a solid five stars. We will be back every time we need a Thai food fix. If I had anything to say about it I would eat here every day but my family gives me a two times a month Asian food allowance.
Excellent food! Being Thai food Its a little different from the run of the mill Chinese food restaurant. We've been here twice and will go back again! You need to try it!
Highly recommend!!!
This place is amazing! We’ve returned a few times and loved every dish we’ve tried. The Masaman Curry is incredible as well as the Pad See-Eww and Pad Thai. So happy to find a great Thai place close by.
Ban Sai Express is one of Newark's Hidden Gems! Excellent food and service always. I would highly recommend Ban Sai !!
Excellent food at a great price. Large portions, fresh food, wonderful service.
The best Thai food Ive ever had. It's fabulous. It's not super fast, but the time you wait is well worth it. Youll be happy you tried this place. The fresh rolls are amazing and the Tom Kha couldn't be better. Small sit in area. Sit in or take out. We've done both. Hope this place stays around a long time!
Been here a few times, love the Pad Thai, Tom yum, and the fresh roll. Also the Sala Bao are a must!!
Good food and nice people.
Amazing food and great prices! Best tom yum I have tasted! The wrap with peanut sauce a must try!
I've eaten at some of the best Thai food restaurants in the USA. I will definitely eat here again.
Love this place dinner last night was awesome !!! Taste just like home! Will definitely be coming back
Really good food! Tom yum and tom kha on the menu.
Authentic Thai food. Excellent. Be careful of spiciness if you're new to Thai.
Great food!!!!!
Yum! Yum! Yum! We have been waiting years for a great Thai restaurant to pop up in Newark and this place does not disappoint. It was terrific and the large portions were super generous.
I never write reviews, but this place was phenomenal and deserves to be recognized. We got the Pad Pak and the Pad Thai on our first visit, they were some of the most amazing dishes I’ve ever had. The vegetables were crisp, and the sauce was light yet flavorful. My wife and I were delighted by the friendly atmosphere. We will definitely enjoy this neighborhood gem frequently. This place is fantastic!
Welcome to the neighborhood!
Authentic, great tasting and fairly priced.
I stumbled upon this place by happenstance and boy am I glad I did. My spouse can testify that I'm borderline addicted to all types of Asian cuisine and when I heard this opened right by our house, I was so ready to try it.
We just ordered takeout from Ban Sai for the first time and we couldn't be happier. I got massaman curry and my spouse ordered drunken noodles. We also got a side of the spicy bao as well as two pork fresh rolls.
Let me tell ya: Everything (and I do mean everything) was delicious. The massaman was packed with flavor and heat and the vegetables were tender without being mushy. The drunken noodles were savory and scrumptious. The bao was so delectably light and fluffy and the rolls were crisp, crunchy, and absolutely mouthwatering when dipped in some peanut sauce.
Ban Sai has modest prices, serves generous portions, and is a welcome addition to the town's food scene. I recommend all Asian food fans to give them a try. I sure know that I can wait to explore more of the menu!
Absolutely fantastic. I had the Pad Pak which was very flavorful and just the right amount of heat at a 5. My wife had the Pad Thai which was great. We will definitely be going there again.
A friend recommended them. The food was terrific, everything fresh from scratch and well-spiced. We had the green curry, ordered 10/10 spicy, and the pad cashew, ordered 7/10 spicy. We also had the fresh rolls. The owners were really friendly and knowledgeable about the foods. They have gluten-free options and they also have a wok they set aside just for vegetarian options. The only caveat is there is no public restroom. They have carry out available as well as dine-in. There are only a few tables, I would say enough seating for 8 people total? It's definitely more focused on carry-out. We wish them well and think they're terrific! We're looking forward to our next meal from there.
