Contemporary Thai restaurant offering curries, noodles & fried rice dishes with vegetarian options.
Excellent Thai food in downtown Waco, Texas. Very calm and pleasant atmosphere, no blaring TV's to distract from a great meal. Very reasonably priced.
UPDATE: A year and a half since my first visit/review here; food still excellent, service efficient and professional, calm and pleasant ambiance. Highly recommended.
The portions were not comparable to the prices. There seemed to be a lacking of spices/flavor to the dishes as well. The atmosphere is quite nice and the restaurant is attractively decorated. The waitress is extremely polite and friendly but the gentleman who brought the dishes to the table and operated the register appeared to have left his warmth and charm at home.
Best restaurant in Waco I can guarantee!!!
Not just a food is the best servers are also the greatest! Kind, careful and polite they knew what customers want so you don't even have to ask for it.
It was amazing and awesome experience and I hope you guys can have the same experience that I luckily had. 😀
Our first time to this Thai restaurant. We ordered the appetizer combo and everything on it was good. For the main course, we ordered Pad Thai, Pad Kee Mao, Beef Kana, Pad See Ew, and Garlic Pork. All dishes were good. For dessert, we ordered Coconut ice cream with Sticky rice. The ice cream is home made and was delicious. It tasted better with the sticky rice.
We would definitely come back!
Order Door Dash chicken Pad Thai last night it was so sweet dont even taste tamarind nor thai flavours, same for yellow chicken curry no flavour at all.. Maybe we chose a wrong night to order....sad realy sad..☹️

This is the best place to eat! They have a wonderful atmosphere and the best waiters!
Good stuff!
Good food, good service
Wonderful owners! Have a lot of passion and are very kind and willing to assist with any needs or questions.
Not as spicy as I'm used to but my 2 yr old son ate a whole bowl pack of rice with the panang curry. It's pretty good

Everything is made fresh when you place your entree order; I'm a huge fan of yellow curry (with all the veggies from the green curry dish), also love Bangkok noodle, pad kee mao, the wide noodle dishes are some of my faves, they have a good salad too and specialty soups.
Best restaurant in Waco I can guarantee!!!

Went for lunch with a friend and prices are very affordable! Got an entree for $9.95 with pad kee mao noodles, fried spring roll, and soup of the day. The service was excellent and great environment for lunch with friends in downtown Waco!
The last 2 times I've ordered takeout from here I was disappointed with the portion size. I ordered yellow curry with chicken and tofu and the container was only 1/2 full with only 4 small pieces of chicken. I paid close to $20. The time before last the potatoes on the curry were undercooked and hard to chew and again only a few pieces of chicken in the container. Come on guys... You can at least fill the container for the amount your charging and put some more chicken in the entree you charging close to $20 for. Very disappointing!
Got a to go order. It was incorrect. 2nd time this had happened
I always enjoy having dinner here. The restaurant is a peaceful environment, fairly quiet. The food is always tasty and filling!
The food tasted like how a dirty musty sponge smells
Our go-to restaurant when heading to AP. Fresh delicious food, big servings, and affordable prices. Best Thai restaurant in Waco.
7/18 went to the restaurant and was treated poorly. Waited 1 hour for vegetables as well as took at least 10-15 min for seating. Others came after us and received their meal and we never received our meal. We were told they were still making vegetables. Others after us received their meal and had rice and other complicated meals. If you are African be aware of how you are treated in this restaurant. If I could give a zero I would.
Good food. Sometimes server seems uninterested. 3rd time we've been with same experience. Food is goo, level 3 spice not even that bad.
Portions are not huge generally but the quality of the food makes up for it. Attentive waiters and overall pleasant vibes. Tom Kha always hits the spot
Great food and efficient wait staff. Small, family run place, so at times of high traffic, patience is necessary. Worth the wait. Homemade ice cream is devine!
Disappointed. The food was average and the service was rush and not friendly
Best Pad See Ew I’ve ever had in my life
Not a bad Thai restaurant in Waco but not the absolutely best I've tasted either. It's good if you are not familiar with Thai food or if you have kids that don't eat spicy. All the dishes we ordered was favorable and it had a lot of vegetables which I really liked.
Service was attentive but not spectacular. Overall I would still recommend.
The pad Thai was a generous portion but did not have much flavor.
Pad Thai is good, but the service is absolute GARBAGE. The people are so effing rude for no reason. I hate dealing with them for takeout orders. Too bad their noodles are hella good, otherwise I'd never come here.
My family and I have been going here for at least 15 years and it’s still the best Thai in town! I recommend getting the Pad See Eew or the Goong Pad Prig Pao. The coconut ice cream and sticky rice is divine! They make the coconut ice cream in house and it is unforgettable.
I love dining at Bangkok Royal. The food is delicious, the service is excellent.
Excellent lunch meal choices, very good service
Never going back!
We were in the Waco area and decided to try the Thai food here. To begin with, the guy that took our order had no interest in doing his job and was reluctant to answer anything.
We ordered the Pad Kee Mao (always been a fav dish of mine) based on the reviews of this place and the menu highlighted this as one of their popular dishes. We were utterly disappointed at how the dish looked and tasted. It had a very starchy texture and the noodles were broken into tiny pieces. I have never had pad kee Mao this bad in my life!
When we expressed our concern to the server.. his exact words were "we order the noodles from outside, so we cannot guarantee how it will come out. Next time order the thin noodles". We had nothing to say in response to his reaction.
Overall a complete disappointment!!
Charming. Delicious food. Friendly atmosphere.
Pad thai is rather sweet, no sprinkles of peanuts as topping, it is overall ordinary. Tom yum seafood is at the same level. Thai iced tea is excellent!
Nice place. The food could have been better but for the price I guess it's OK.
It was a totally different evening for us. My son and husband and I just needed something to eat, and usually we do sushi, but this time the hubs said we need somethin different. And so we came here. Their fried egg rolls are to die for, the wonton soup......omg. and my Hubby had I don't know what it was but it too was delish. We will be back.
Food is very flavorful! And you cannot beat the prices!!
Loved Bangkok Royal! After working in Thai restaurant and needing Thai cuisine fix, this was the place!! The price was great, portions and quality was excellent. Ordered the fried rolls, Thai dumplings, bbq chicken, wonton soup and pork stir fry. Last but not least Thai milk tea. Will definitely be back!
The portions were not comparable to the prices. There seemed to be a lacking of spices/flavor to the dishes as well. The atmosphere is quite nice and the restaurant is attractively decorated. Yummy 😋
meh… i had a hard time cutting the shrimp with a fork.
The wife and I drive from out of town weekly to eat at this restaurant. Everything we’ve tried has been delicious. Fresh ingredients, extremely friendly staff and beautiful decor. Don’t miss the coconut ice cream!
Great food! They chop up the noodles which is kind of weird, but everything tasted great!
We ordered takeout, Thai fried rice with chicken, Tom Kha Kai, Panang Curry w/chicken and Bangkok Noodle. The order was ready on time, prices are reasonable.
The food overall was average. I personally ordered Tom Kha Kai, it is a favorite dish of mine but I was disappointed. Other than it being spicy I felt it lacked flavor. Bland seemed to be the overall consensus. I don't see any of our group ordering from here in the future.
Service and food were amazing. I got the yellow curry and it was so good. I should've asked for a bit more spice though.
Fast service, extremely fast food (<5 minutes wait time), and affordable prices. The Thai fried rice was delicious, would definitely come back again.
Everything was great, fast and reasonably priced.
Had good lunch prices, great tasting food! Curry and pad Thai were legit. Only comment is bathrooms could use some updating : toilet paper dispenser broken, soap dispenser broken, a little dirty.
Dropped in here after a day in Waco, quick service, good food! Pad Thai was good and #35 Pad Kao Pohd was excellent!
Really high price for mediocre food and rude service
Showed and was told they were closed...the hours posted on Google do not match their actual business hours...please fix as I was looking forward to your food
The yellow curry was delicious! Love the quiet atmosphere, cleanliness and the service!
Yummmm, very good food but pricey,Totally worth the visit.
We visited this place at lunch and the place was busy! Honestly, I expected more for all food we ordered. Nothing stood out. My friends and I all agreed it wasn’t the best and definitely had better. It was okay if you want the real opinion. But the prices were cheap compared to other thai place we normally go to.
I got what i ordered so that was good. All in all a good place.
Dishes were a bit bland with small portions. Staff was efficient but not overly friendly.
Fast, friendly service. Great fried rice.
This place is to Thai food as TexMex is to Mexican food. With that in mind, know what to expect.
The sauces are a LOT sweeter than what I am used to eating at Thai restaurants. The spice level is low to very low. The food is reasonably priced for the portions. It is a base of sauce, meat, veggies, and rice or noodles depending on the order. I am satisfied after eating here.
This place has definitely gone downhill. The last 2 times I went the service was absolutely embarrassing. I had issues with both plates and when I brought them up the server literally said the chefs don’t care and won’t do anything and to just deal with it (but still pay of course for their mistakes). We were waiting forever and given dirty looks any time we’d asked for anything. I can say without a doubt the service is the worst I’ve ever seen, the food wasn’t great, and the overall atmosphere wasn’t amazing.
Great food, friendly staff, cute restaurant.
Good service and food
Bad service, bad quality, bad management
Waste time and money. We paid $95 for what we can't eat at all.
All the food was salty, we called the waiter to let him know and sent the dishes back to the kitchen, we hope they can redo it or do something with our order but the waiter acted like nothing happen.
Another order was wrong, we ordered Beef Salad but they bring us Chicken salad, when we ask, they just said “we have no beef”, at least they should let us know what they don't have.
The waiter didn't care about the problem of the food on our table.
We paid and left the restaurant immediately. We can't accept the way they serve and treat the customer like that.
Feel like no manager there and the staff doesn't care about anything, just let the customer go with anger.
Never come back.
Vegan - Tom Kha soup was the bomb. Penang curry was pretty good as well.
If you're looking for fresh authentic food, this is it! You won't be disappointed! Food is so flavorful and waiters are fast and efficient. Thanks from Ga!
Best Thai food in Waco!
Went here for the first time tonight and really enjoyed the food! I got the the Pad See Eew and it was delicious! Everything was cooked perfectly and I left extremely satisfied. A must try.
They are very understaffed …. Food is not that great . Ordered green curry , for first time in my lifetime i did not like green curry from a Thai restaurant . There was no flavor at all
We normally get the green curry and pad see ew. Always hits the spot.
A very unassuming establishment. Yet don't be short-changed; the food is EXCELLENT. Plus...the price for a lunch was amazing.
This restaurant is a staple in the Waco community. It is a local/Thai family owned business, and has been my go-to place for many years. They have so many great dishes, but “Bangkok Cashew” & “Pad Kee Mao” are next level.
The food quality was ok but the service was not. As soon as we were seated the server said "chop chop I have to go". We asked him for a couple of minutes and he wasn't happy. When he brought the main plates it was at different times, one person first the second person about 5 minutes later. He circled us while we were having our main course and brought the bill a couple of minutes later. It felt uncomfortable to have him pacing back and forth next to our table. We pretty much had to eat in a hurry and he asked us to leave because he had to close the restaurant. We started to argue but I got composed and said "I'm not doing this with you. I don't think we will come back." He actually mocked me and said "That's not a problem with me".
This was a disappointing experience. Not worth going back for such poor service, but worth to invest 5 minutes and write this review.
Customers be aware of the poor service 😔
The food was very good, the waiter was rude and showed attitude. They add 15%tip by default, I didn't lime to give him that much.
worst restaurant ever. the outside says they are open till 10pm and also map says they are open till 9. We went around 8.45 and there was this lady who very rudely said we are closed. Then we were just getting out of the restaurant saying the map was wrong. My friend told me maybe we can ask for to go but the lady again gave us the definition by saying when we say the restaurant is closed that means we are closed. never going there
Food and service were great!
This was my first visit to Bangkok Royal. The food was delicious and the service, great! Our lunch group enjoyed an unhurried, pleasant, lunch and we agreed that we would visit Bangkok Royal again. It is a lovely restaurant but it can get a little loud when it fills up. I would definitely recommend Bsngkok Royal.
Great service. Pad thai was average to below average.
Very good Thai food. Excellent service. Perfect place to stop on I-35.
We have been enjoying the delicious food, efficient service, and beautiful decor of art for decades! Bangkok Royale has the best Green Curry of the multitude of Thai/Asian restaurants we have also dined. All the dishes are tasty, well prepared, and served in a quiet, beautiful setting with attentive staff. They know the dishes marked very hot require lots of water so your glasses are constantly refilled. The orange color hot Thai tea is also wonderful. This is also a great place for groups of a dozen or more friends to share a meal with prior reservation for staff to set it up.
This will be the first and last time my husband and I go to this place. We ordered $50 and some change worth of food, and when we got home the food was in a very small portion. I have been to many many Thai restaurant and this is the first time this happened to me. The Tom Yum soup that we got was super sour. Like I said I know how they should taste because I have eaten dozen of Thai food and Tom yum is always my go to so I know how it should taste. Honestly I had way better Thai food and this is the most disappointing. It wasn’t just special at all for how much they charge. My husband and I won’t be going back to this place that for sure. We tried it and didn’t like it.
Great place
Food from this place was great. The flavors feels so authentic a good. Waiters are nice too.
The spicy food could be spicier for Thai food but taste was delicious.
I read the reviews I can't wait to go try this place.
Great place for lunch. Good price and great curry dishes. The portions is small for lunch. It is typical for Tai food.
The southeast asian warmth is not felt & seen on the thai manager guy. Also, eventhough I am their sole customer at first, the servers lack attentiveness. Zero thai hospitality but the ambiance is centered only at the front desk. Except for the sauce, the Bangkok Platter lacks umami asian taste. The dimsum is generically frozen chinese. The fried rice was soggy & flavor was subdued. The spice & herbs are drowned by oil. The pineapple in it did not add flavor. The pork was tender though. Based on what I ordered, it is less characteristic of a thai food. But in fairness, I haven't tried other specialty such as curry-based food & it is safe to order white rice next time.
First time visit, great experience
Wonderful atmosphere and servers
Delicious Thai food! Really enjoyed the dishes!
Todo muy rico
This is a horrible place, I placed my order before the another customer and they brought his food out first which I think they are trying to be funny but I’ll never come here again.
Stopped in for dinner while visiting Waco. Had the Pad Kee Mao and the Green Curry, both hot spicy level. Both dishes were good with different aspects. Pork was the meat I chose for both. Really enjoyed the texture of the Pad Kee Mao noodles and the sautéed vegetables. The green curry was good too with the flavors I expected in a green curry. In particular I enjoyed the bamboo shoots and the sautéed carrots. The heat was perfect I would equate the hot spiciness to straight tobasco different flavor of course, but about that hot. The staff was friendly and attentive. I would definitely go back.
great food but horrible customer service the person i spoke to over the phone was extremely rude and had no idea what any of the dishes were…. you’d think you should know a little bit about the menu if you’re going to work here
Portion size was a joke considering how much the dish cost. Was told by my waiter they didn't have fresh spring rolls because "they weren't doing those today" I was pretty annoyed since that's mainly what I went for. I doubt I'll go back unless I'm super desperate for Thai food.
I ordered the pad tai and tom yum soup. The food had no flavor. It was missing the sweetness of authentic dishes. The soup was watered down and only had 2 slices of mushrooms. I paid almost $30 for favorless unathentic food. Do not waste your time and money here
Great, with lots of options, spiced well (and they Will adjust)
Good dependable comfort Thai food. That Sweet Rama is the truth.
Food was really bad, I do not recommend this place to anyone who has had decent Thai food.
Great Thai food!
Our go to Thai place!! All dishes so far haven't disappointed!! The fried rice is yummy, but my favorites are any of their seafood plates. I really don't have a favorite which isn't always the case for me. I normally eat the same thing over and over again.
Their tom kha gai is yummy, not what I am used to, it lacks a bit lemongrass, (I understand the prices of lemongrass here is ridiculous!) but it's creamy and yummy nevertheless.
The service is great!! Be prepared to wait a bit since as the sign say they are understaffed; however, we haven't had to wait too long for our food.
Worst restaurant I have been to. They kept us waiting for hours and never asked if we needed anything after the order. People joining after us got their order before and received great service. The food was pretty bland and tasteless. But the service from the waiter was the worst I have ever had.
Very nice place to dine in and a great menu. The pad thai was delicious!
Basic and very little flavor. Noodles are so over cooked I could barely pick them up without them breaking. There was supposed to be veggies in the pad thai and it was just the meats and noodles and a few largely chopped green onions. For 12 bucks its better homemade. We try and support small business and tip even togo but this one saddly was a let down.
Well rounded flavor and menu options to match. The staff‘s always accommodating and friendly to me. Definitely my favorite place for curry in town. Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles are to die for too - you really can’t go wrong with any fish you chose.
Highly recommend Bangkok Royal for a wonderful selection of awesome Vietnamese dishes for the whole family.
Great food. Hot green tea was also good and they keep your cup full.
Really good food!!!
Portions are getting smaller.
Service was good.
Food was good.
The curry dishes are wonderful!
Was really good, I’m fine with the smaller portions but there wasn’t much chicken in the sweet and sour chicken
Tasty food. We had the Calamari appetizer. It was so fresh and delicious. We couldn't decide between the Fried Rice and the Pad See Ew. So we got one of each and shared. Both were equally as good. If we lived here we would be back.
Phenomenal food...period!!!
My go to place for thai food in waco
I try go there eery now and then possible. it is close to my university and i like the taste veryuch. price is also good for me.
We’ve been going to Bangkok Royal for 25 years. Always good and consistent. Great wait staff. Dined at a recommended Thai restaurant in New York City a few years back…Bangkok was better.
Meat was very tender. Nice people. Overall very nice outing.
vegetables and rice with broth good..... chicken was sour or uncooked tasting. prefer to have had sushi had known this.
Delicious, service was excellent and they got everyone's order right despite the big party. Clean and it wasn't too loud inside, so overall great experience.
Fantastic food the only reason I didn't give a five was due to very small portions. Otherwise it was sticker shock for one person. However it will be only a special occasion my next trip.
Has been consistently good. Food tastes fresh with a touch of spice (requested). One of my favorite places! Lunch is the best deal as it comes with soup or salad and egg roll. Dinner has those to be extra. Their chicken ginger soup is delicious. I normally don't like ginger, but I guess because it is freshly chopped, it tastes great!
Great place to eat, very friendly Staff. I recommend the Yellow Curry.
The atmosphere and food is delicious.
1st time eating here. Had the pad thai. It was very good & I'll definitely be back.
Food was ok...for naming the restaurant Bankok, i was specting a fire hot spicy plate but nope.Just a plate.
Portions are small, but it is delicious. Staff is great.
Quick service but it was early for dinner on a Monday. I had the #31 with beef and a bowl of Wonton soup. Very reasonable prices and quality of the food was good. The beef was tender and the vegetables tasted fresh.
Always good and reasonably priced.
First time was excellent then dinner out with my daughter the other night a little bit substandard. The ginger soup was excellent however
Amazing food and great service!! Wow!!
The best of thai food you can get
Very disappointed with the quality of food. Will definitely not be back.
Good Thai food. I little pricey for the portions though.
Excellent food and service
