Located in the heart of historic City Market in downtown Raleigh, MOFU Shoppe is an airy Asian-inspired eatery and bar. The dishes and specialty cocktails are inspired by foods commonly eaten in several Asian countries including influences from Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, China, Vietnam, Laos and more. MOFU Shoppe refers to their approach to food and identity as nature (Asian-Americans) and nurture (growing up in the South around lots of diverse ethnic food).
Mix and match small plates and snacks to start, share a few entrees and finish off your meal with something sweet to eat or a dessert sake. A variety of dining options help make MOFU a unique experience for all kinds of guests including excellent gluten free and vegetarian options.
We visited MOFU Shop restaurant because of its unique menu . We were seated immediately and ordered drinks. My Old Forester Old Fashioned was excellent and my wife tried to order a chardonnay, but the bar was out and she switched to Pinot (tall pour). We ordered two shareable (kimchi tots and dumplings. Both were excellent..... For dinner my wife ordered the pork belly bowl and I ordered the chicken and ginger plate. Both dishes were delicious and we had a good time. One suggestion is that as first timers, the waitress could have assisted us with the menu and serving size. My selection of the chicken and ginger plate was insufficient for a dinner meal. Either way, we will return because the food was excellent.
Service was decent, food was BAD. Would not recommend to anyone who is familiar with authentic Asian flavors.
Got the Dan Dan noodles which were essentially inedible. Could not grab a single noodle as it congealed into one giant ball of oil, noodles and pork that was shredded so thin that it became a paste. If you look at the picture you can see the oil POOLING at the bottom of my bowl. Not to mention the flavors were completely off, and there was absolutely nothing Asian or Chinese about that dish.
Also ordered the smoked pork belly bowl, which was atrocious. The rice was seasoned solely (and overly) with salt, served with a tiny sprinkling of unseasoned corn and carrots, and one flavorless piece of grilled pork belly. Didn’t come with sauce and was completely dry.
Another person in my party ordered the bowl but with fried tofu substituted. We all tried the tofu and it had absolutely zero seasoning or salt.
Our group also ordered the beef bulgogi dumplings. I tried one, and it took me a solid 3 minutes to chew through it. Tasted like Play-Doh.
We had a group of 8, no one finished their entrees and no one took their leftovers home. I don’t typically write reviews, but this meal was really upsetting considering that the reviews for this place are so positive. If you are looking for authentic Asian flavors, do not eat here.
We were greeted by Claire upon entering and she is very personable and has a very pleasant personality. Great music in the restaurant. It's at a perfect volume to have comfortable conversations with your family and friends. The decor is very chic and peaceful. We ordered the smash burger with kimchi tots, bahn mi with kimchi tots, yotiao dessert, pork & chive dumplings and lime glazed wings. Everything was delicious and the sauces were bomb. Compliments to the chef for such fun and delicious creations! Highly recommend coming to visit and allowing your taste buds to explode with happiness. Great place to book for parties too, they have a nice, private area upstairs. Will definitely be a return customer.
EDIT 1: I don't know what happened. But the service was absolutely atrocious! Drew was the reason we returned. And Claire is the reason we won't return. Damn shame. Attitude issues, no hospitality, absent minded, just dropped food on table! You could clearly tell she did not want to serve our table. Just a terrible representation to this spot!

Pro:
- service (Drew F. was fantastic, super nice to my kid, and even made the house lemonade sweeter for him at request)
- food quality amazing
- menu variety
- pork belly (omfg)
- my kid is a picky eater and still demolished the chicken wings.
- all the dumplings!
- amazing beers on tap
Con:
- Dan Dan noodles (not bad, but just not at the same level as everything else)
This is a definite repeat every time we go to
Marbles up the road! Marbles > mofu > ice cream
Stopped in here my first time by myself for lunch and had a great experience. Great aesthetic inside and I had friendly attentive service. They had an old fashioned variation on the menu so I gave it a try. Great drink a little sweeter than I typically prefer but well balanced with the fruit. On the server’s recommendation I ordered the corn curry with chicken. Delicious. A lovely yellow coconut curry with lots of veg still holding texture and the chicken was cooked perfectly. There was lots of other interesting dishes on the menu so I’m going to need to get back to MOFU try more food and add to this review.
:)
Mofu has a lovely ambiance and delightful vegan food. We got the impossible dumplings (not pictured), the vegan tofu bao buns, miso soup and coconut corn curry rice bowl (my least favorite but still delicious).
The only thing I wish they’d do differently is label the vegan/can be made vegan options clearly on the menu. The hostess was a great help in checking in with the chef and giving us a rundown of the vegan/can be made vegan options.
The staff was incredible, kind and made my birthday dinner a fabulous experience. Drew the server was amazing! They served a cake we brought and they made sure we had a great time. The cocktails were also very good.
However, the food was just bad. my pork belly bowl was completely flavorless, the rice mushy and over cooked and the not even salt on the pork belly. i didn't finish it. my friend had bao buns that were also flavorless, a little spicy mayo and one of the buns didn't have the seasoning on top. another friend got the noodle bowl and the whole thing tasted like simple tomato sauce, no variety of flavor.
Overall this seems like just another one of those places you pay a lot of money for the ambiance and vibes to make up for lackluster food.
I came here for dinner and I've got to say that this place has some of the best dumplings I've ever had (bulgogi beef and chicken and ginger is what I had). Also, the Thai banana negroni is a must have. After the dumplings I still had room for some more and Spencer steered me towards BAO buns, and I'm glad that he did. He certainly made the dining experience a fantastic and flavourful adventure.
Been here before and the food was great but the front desk host is awful. She was extremely rude to us on Valentine's Day for literally no reason. Definitely not worth the dumplings that you could make from Trader Joe's frozen section.
2025: I have been here a few times, normally for shareable. The food is good and the service was good but when getting there at 8pm (no reservation) and asked to sit at the bar I was asked if I would be eating and drinking after a pause from the hostess. When my reply was yes I was quickly informed that they closed at 9 but that I should be good. Made me not want to order food or even sit down. I did and was out of there by 8:40 with plenty of time for the team to be off by 9.
Before: Food was okay, service and drinks was a bit slow. It was a Wednesday evening- ordered a second drink when they brought the first.
Food was okay, not my favorite, but the waiters were nice and quick.
We were there 2/5/25. Ordered the lamb shank and the grits and shrimp. This is a new menu and either it should be taken off immediately or someone needs to educate the cook. The lamb was horrible - dried out, tough and so very bland. Not a spec of flavor. Next up - WHY would you put a heavy beefy gravy on shrimp and grits? Could not taste the shrimp because of the gravy. Perhaps you should put that gravy on your dried out lamb. Won't be back.
We showed up at 9:28 for dinner, and were asked what we wanted. A table for two, please. The website says they serve until 10:15, and we were told the kitchen closes at 9:45 and we could get takeout. Does no one want to work downtown anymore?

I'll start with the service and atmosphere
Service: 2/5
We had reservations for Tuesday at 7:30. There were only two servers; it took them a while to notice us waiting at the entrance, and they were very slow returning to our table each time. I blame this not on our kind servers, but the lack of adequate staffing. I also ordered the French press coffee and was denied (I think they just didn't have time or feel like making it)
Atmosphere: 2/5
The side of the restaurant where we were seated was very poorly lit. It was especially strange because the other half of the restaurant was decently lit, and then our half just wasn't. It was cold enough in the restaurant that we put our jackets back on. Minimal decorations; you did not get an identity or even food genre based on the decor. In summary: quiet, cold, dark, empty.
Food: 2/5
To start, we ordered the bone marrow and (5) chicken dumplings for appetizers. The bone marrow was fine, although the marrow:bread ratio was far off. The dumplings were also fine; they had very basic filling and were swimming in soy sauce with a few pickled vegetables. I enjoyed these more than I should have because I was starving.
For our mains, we had the pork cutlet rice bowl and lao khao soi. If you're not familiar with the latter, you could Google it to get an idea of what it traditionally looks like. That is not what we received. What we got instead were short, overcooked noodles that we had to fish out of the bottom of the bowl with a spoon. The chopsticks were pointless because the noodles were tiny (~1 inch pieces). The soup broth was basic and underseasoned. The pork bowl was worse; I was offended to have paid 20 dollars for a heaping serving of oily rice with some carrots, a few pieces of corn, and some pickled red onion (and pork). The best part was the pork, which was still somehow dry. The whole bowl was boring, unseasoned, and uninspired.
It is difficult to tell whether Mofu Dumpling Shoppe is aiming for authentic Asian cuisine or a unique spin on classics, but it misses both by a wide margin. For 2 people, we were out the door for $110 with two small appetizers, our meal, and one drink (one of us had water). If I could go back in time, I would spend half that money elsewhere, and hopefully have leftovers I would actually want to bring home.
I was really looking forward to trying MOFU for the first time. Unfortunately, we found the food very disappointing.
Pros: Waitress was friendly and attentive, the wings were tasty.
Cons: 5 small dumplings that were not very good (I lived in Asia for 7 years) cost $15 - ridiculous, Worst of all, all five of us had upset stomachs after the meal. The grits in the shrimp and grits dish were watery and undercooked, and the mushrooms were inedible - obviously dried ones that were not fully reconstituted. The vegan curry noodle soup had an unpleasant flavor (I enjoy various Asian flavors), and the cook did not bother to break up the impossible meat - it was in two big clumps in the bowl. The cumin lamb was overly greasy & did not have any cumin flavor. I also wonder if they use MSG because I had an unusual headache an hour after eating. I really wanted to like this highly rated restaurant, but there are much better Asian restaurants in the area.
Food truck turned restaurant. We Loved this place and the food and can’t wait to come back and try more dishes. Bar has wonderful innovative drinks.

i only went to see the server drew and it was the best decision i had ever made in my life. ONLY come if your coming to see drew
Food was sooooo goood!!! Service was so amazing and really quick!! Ambiance was also really cute. The neighborhood is also really awesome of you want to do a little walk after you you stuff yourself.
The service, the food, the atmosphere… TEN OUT OF TEN! We started with the beef bulgogi dumplings which were AMAZING! Our one order of this turned into THREE! The entrées came shortly after. Presentation of the dishes were a 10/10! I ordered the sticky short ribs and they were SUPER tender and complimented the mash potatoes well. We followed our dinner up with asian churros at the recommendation of our server. This has been the best food and service by far this 2023 year! You leave hard shoes to fill, MOFU!
Great dumplings. We sat at the bar and had a wonderful visit
EDIT 1: I don't know what happened. But the service was absolutely atrocious! Drew was the reason we returned. And Claire is the reason we won't return. Damn shame. Decent dumplings over priced and nice beers, the impossible burger was nicer and had some good flavors
Had high expectations but the food disappointed. Didn’t seem fresh. Got 2 small plates and unfortunately left.
Delicious food and a wonderful atmosphere! The dumplings were especially delicious, but not a thing we ordered missed.
Walkable to the Raleigh bus depot, nearby shops, and Moore Square is also a plus.
Very decent food. Good and spicy. The Brussel sprouts totally live up to the hype! Such a cool trendy but not trying too hard vibe. Friendly, helpful staff.
4 stars because of pricing. 5 stars if everything was $1-2 cheaper. Everything I got tasted great but I don’t know if I necessarily got the best value price wise. I’d recommend checking it out regardless for the atmosphere and menu options if you enjoy noodles, dumplings, and rice bowls.
I came here for dinner and I've got to say that this place has some of the best dumplings I've ever had (bulgogi beef and chicken and ginger is what I had). I came here tonight and ate at the bar by myself and had an absolutely amazing meal and atmosphere. The bartender was amazing and recommended a wonderfully sweet flavored sake shout out to ““ friend“. He was so nice to buy me a drink, wink, lol, I got the fried rice with pork bits and the pork and chives dumplings. Both were absolutely delicious. I will definitely be back and recommend this place to anyone especially friends and family.
I loved the dumplings!
The food was great. I found this restaurant on social media awhile ago and I finally was in town to try it. I sat at the bar like I usually do and I was ignored. The young lady bartender was distracted the whole time talking to other staff about whatever. I ordered a drink which was delicious and some dumplings to start. She clearly forgot to put in my order for dumplings because it took almost 30 mins then she said "they had to make it again, fresh" and yet my food was barely warm. I ordered the rest of my meal to go and ended my time there asap. I may go back in the future and make sure Im not at the bar or order to go.
If I could give 6 stars I would! Drew was a great server and this place has impecable timing.
Service was atrocious. Food was good though
We had Spencer as our server and he was amazing! So attentive and even ran almost 2 blocks to give me my credit card back after I accidentally forgot it. The food was also incredible, we will definitely be back!
This is my second time here. The food is amazing! During my first visit I tried the fish bao buns, crispy Brussel sprouts, beef bulgogi dumplings. My second visit I got the wings… the sweet chili and the lime glaze ( THE BEST IN DOWNTOWN RALEIGH). I also got the Mongolian beef rice bowl. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves to expand their taste buds and have a love for Asian cuisine.
Made a reservation (super easy) on Saturday night about 20 minutes before I wandered over with a buddy. Maggie (the waitress) was super attentive and friendly. Put in our order pretty quickly, and it came out in a reasonable amount of time.
I eat a lot of dumplings/wontons, and the chicken ginger wontons were pretty good. But the twice-cooked pork belly was really good.
Buddy got the pork & chive dumplings and the kimchi tater tots, and I tried a little bit of both. Not mind-blowing, but pretty good.
I would absolutely go back.
Mofu was pretty delicious on my first visit! Me and some friends tried the shaved beef noodles (so good and mild heat). For apps we had dumplings, the Mac and cheese, and fried pork belly. The Mac and cheese had a unique flavor, not your typical southern dish so have a loose expectation and enjoy the flavor. Can’t wait to go back and try more things. We ate it all so quick we forgot pics!
Atmosphere and service was great but the food was disappointing. Food came out fast, too fast if you know what I mean. Bulgogi dumplings were cold and tasted like take home from the night before. The flounder dish had almost no flounder, all fluffy taco and toppings. I'll think twice about returning.
Very good food, service, and atmosphere
Literally my favorite restaurant in Raleigh!! Amazing food and great service.
Truly one of my favorite restaurants in downtown Raleigh! Such a unique and intentional menu - true Asian-fusion! The BEST dumplings and noodle dishes. My other faves are the chicken wings (the staff always gives me half sweet chili and half green cilantro goddess), kimchi tots, and the fried flounder bao buns! But, honestly the whole menu is delicious! Make sure you make a reservation - the atmosphere is intimate! Also - the staff is always so friendly and makes the best drinks! Highly recommend (pro tip…this makes a great date night!)
Not good. We sat down and bartender would not even make eye contact. Very rude! Had to find the menu myself at the front. Drinks took FOREVER and were extremely expensive. Bartender was never nice.
Dumplings were okay but a COMPLETE rip-off for the amount of actual food we received. Then ordered Bao to-go and got some weird dried taco concoction for $14. Fried fish or chicken… still not sure. But def won’t be eating.
If you are unfamiliar Raleigh, the 2nd photo is what REAL Bao looks like- and it’s soft and fluffy. if they want to advertise this is as Bao then it needs to be advertised as their OWN version of it. Terrible and need to up their game. Thumbs down.
Beautiful spot ‘ needs more diligence and managing the floor. The food felt to mechanic and lack of passion in it
Very fun, but like a lot of other reviews mention...pricy. adds up quick at $13/5 small dumplings.
Great dumplings!
The food was top notch, but the service was a total let down.
We stopped in for lunch, and enjoyed the pork and beef dumplings, the wings, and the brussel sprouts. It was pricey but worth it. However our server clearly didn't want anything to do with the place, as she was impolite and borderline unresponsive.
Although it was mostly empty, we waited a good while for our meal which came out piecemeal. Some portions arrived well after others.
We would have ordered more food, but our server never returned. Overall the service here soured our experience and we're not sure if we'd return.
I recently visited MOFU Dumpling Shoppe located in downtown Raleigh and had a largely enjoyable experience. The dumplings here are a true delight, each bite filled with amazing flavors. The service matched the quality of the food—efficient and friendly, making the dining experience smooth and pleasant.
However, it's worth noting that the pricing at MOFU Dumpling Shoppe feels a bit steep. While the food is good, the value proposition might not sit well with everyone. Specially in Raleigh.
Additionally, the location of the restaurant might be a concern for some. The surrounding of this specific area of downtown Raleigh has seen better days and currently feels a bit less welcoming due to the presence of a somewhat sketchy vibe. This aspect might affect the overall appeal of the restaurant to potential visitors looking for a comfortable and relaxed dining environment.
Overall, if you're in for the food and service and don't mind spending a bit more, MOFU Dumpling Shoppe offers some delicious options. However, do consider the surrounding area when planning your visit.
I recently visited MOFU for an anniversary dinner with my wife. Instead of going for the larger dishes we shared the different types of dumplings and some small plates. Everything was delicious! My wife doesn't like overly strong drinks and these were perfect for her. We will definitely be visiting again.
Amazing food!!!
Coconut corn curry was amazing
Great food! Bartender was super cool!
The waitress was very kind and friendly. The host wasn't welcoming, and the food was kind of disappointing.
We had a great time
We came here for dinner right when it opens at 5pm. Made a reservation ahead as it was Saturday. The place is beautiful with aesthetic decor and chill vibes. Loved the beautiful windows. It's sharable items Asian influenced restaurant. We tried a little bit of everything. Food wasn't exceptionally great but wasn't terrible either so kinda in between. Some items were better then others.
What we had:
-Thom yum Mac "n" cheese (wasn't our favorite). It was too saucy for the amount of rice cakes. I wish it was more cheesy like in actual Mac a cheese.
-Impossible &chive dumplings were really yummi. Great flavor and sauces added a great addition. Tasted like a real meat.
-Kimchi tots (my favorite!) from the items we have tried. I love potatoes and these tots were very crunchy and soft on the inside with kimchi on top just so umami.
-Flounder bao buns very alright. Needed more sauce to make it more juicy so we used the sauce from Mac "n" cheese to add extra sauce.
-for dessert we tried "Yo-Tiao" Aka Asian CHURROS (ok these were so good!!!) great flavor, warm and soft on the inside, crunchy with a touch of salt on the outside. Comes with 2 sauces. I liked the condensed milk.
Overall not bad but can be better.
Me and my girlfriend came for a lil date night and were not disappointed! The vibe was very cute and upbeat. The service was fast and easy and we felt welcomed. The food … PHENOMENAL.
We had the mofu wings, Brussels, pork belly and beef bulgogi dumplings… and the ‘mac’ the Mac was utterly delicious. I have never had rice pasta but man the texture and flavors came together so well.
We will be back !!
3.9/5 average shop for dumplings. We had the beef dumplings (5 dumplings), brussel sprouts, white pepper chicken, and bao for about 24 per person for 3 people which was expensive for sure. The dumplings were pretty average, not bad but not the best I've had or something memorable. The quality of the chicken and beef meat was pretty good; so not low quality food, but just wasn't anything special. The chicken was pretty good and nothing crazy; just friend chicken pieces. And the brussel sprouts were average, not the best and a lot of money. Overall, based on the price we paid for the quality of food, not worth it and you can get better and more dumplings from elsewhere.
:)
My server must've been in a bad mood that day. It ruined the otherwise delicious asian fusion meal
Food is always delicious and service is always amazing! I will always come back to MOFU for all occasions
Amazing food, the dumplings, the crispy brussel sprouts and the baos are incredible.
Must visit
We really enjoyed our meal here! The environment is nice, the service was good, and the food was phenomenal. Definitely make a reservation ahead of time. We had a group of 5 friends sharing so we could try more options, which worked out great. I recommend the dumplings, beef tartare, Mongolian beef, beef Bulgogi, and pork belly bowl!
EDITED: so my first review was bc I walked in wanted to get food before we went to a show at Lincoln theater and they just ignored us. PLEASE make a reservation. I did today and had the most amazing food. I went with a group and we shared everything. All my friends said I made a great decision and want to come back. My favorite was the Mac and cheese even though I don’t like cheese. The pork belly and dumplings are always a great go to. If u can’t try it all then u will have to come back. I tried it all and will still come back. Saying all that I wish the hostess would have told me to make a reservation
We decided to come in for our tenth anniversary on the recommendation of a friend and were not disappointed. The pork and bulgogi dumplings were excellent, and we split a couple of the large plates. The service was outstanding, and we would come back again.
I'd love to come here for vegetarian dumplings that don't have fake meat. Lot's of vegetarian/vegans don't like that stuff. Please consider adding to the menu:)
we were going to a show nearby and wanted a good place for dinner with friends so decided to try MOFU. It’s an asian-fusion restaurant with small plates and mains - we each got a couple of different things to try. most were good, some were alright.
we got the kimchi tots, the mofu seasonal salad, the pork belly, the wings, beef tartare, and the beef noodle soup. we also got drinks. standouts were the salad, the wings, and the pork belly. the tots were alright and the noodle soup was not good. drinks were good and the service was great
All the food was good, curry, kimchi totes, all of dumplings, and the churro dessert. 10/10
Went as group of 2.
Impossible & Chive Dumplings -> Surprisingly delicious.
Twice cooked pork belly -> Flavour Burst at the bite.
Dan Dan Style Noodles -> Comfy and Sumptuous
Coconut Corn Curry w/ Tofu -> Perfect Spice and Refreshing
Yo-Tia Bread -> Plum sauce was amazing.
Vietnamese Coffee Mouse -> Best level of Coffee in Dessert
The pho was okay. Felt a bit lazy. Maybe I should’ve had the dumplings instead. Service was not super punctual. Meals came out staggered, checks got mixed up, and I had to flag down a host to get my drink that never came to me. The room had a nice design but lack of attention to detail during the meal made for a lack luster experience.
Always a good time! Great atmosphere, service and love the food.
Visited for a friends bday and I feel like we tried everything on the menu. Highly recommend
This is my favorite Asian restaurant in the Triangle! The food is incredible and the service does not disappoint. It’s my go to recommendation for anyone looking for something in DTR.
Great Asian place in Raleigh! Prices are a little steep but I think you get what you pay for. I love the kimchi tots and the curry. The atmosphere is cool and fresh -- it honestly feels like the kind of restaurant that'd be in a bigger city. I wouldn't really recommend getting a cocktail there though -- I've been let down by their drinks in the past. Other than that, it's a perfect date night spot!
Great food! Parker took good care of our party of five. Highly recommend. We will be back!
The food was....... good. I wouldn't hesitate to visit again, but it didn't knock my socks off either. Decent.
Great food and service was amazing. Favorite was Chicken and Ginger dumplings
MOFU is awesome. Such a great experience overall. The food was delicious, the drinks were great, and the service was fantastic. It was a busy night and I think our table got lost in the chaos (it happens sometimes— no matter where you are) but the manager came over and immediately apologized and was so nice, even offering us some sake to make up for it. Absolutely made the best impression. Our server, Drew, was also so attentive and kind, he was mindful of food allergies and checked in regularly to make sure we were doing well. MOFU definitely deserves 5+ stars. I loved this spot and will be adding it to my list of favorites in DT Raleigh!!
Great restaurant with a variety of dumplings. I can't resist the pork belly bowl.
Fantastic food, great drinks, superb service, all within a great atmosphere…one of Raleigh’s best kept secrets.
MOFU is surprisingly great. I have been deployed amongst the islands and countries of Asia and the Pacific. The drinks were good, and the bar was busy. Unfortunately, the draught beer felt less than ideal cold. Their Thai white pepper Chicken with fish sauce was very authentic. I remembered my time in Thailand fondly. Of course everything is slightly Americanized, but just enough to jive with our pallets. The wings were excellent. Most places sauce up their wings and they get soggy. But sauce on the side with very crispy wings are great. Obviously they are not buffalo wings. I also had the pork belly baozi. Very soft , light and crispy. Very good for anyone to try. Dumplings from a previous experience are also very good. Not too sugary, or out of context. Prepared well. 4.25/5. Please enjoy this.
Hands down best experience I’ve had in a Raleigh restaurant.
Went for a joint birthday dinner with friends and their families. Half our group was pre-teen kids, so we were a little worried prior to going. The worry left immediately when we met the staff and our waitress.
We did a family style dinner and ordered a bunch of dumpling plates (chicken/ginger, beef bulgogi, and pork/chive), several other appetizer style plates like the wings, brussel sprouts, flounder bao buns, and kimchi tots, and 3 main plates to share (shaved beef, Mongolian beef, and Dan Dan). There wasn’t a thing that we didn’t enjoy. Seriously, the brussel sprouts were probably the best I’ve ever had. The dumplings were a hit with everyone that we had to order another round. Wings were super crispy. Some kimchi is strong/potent. Not here. It was perfectly paired with the tots and not overpowering at all.
All the adults got a different cocktail and we all enjoyed our choices. Some of us got a second round because they were so good. If you want a place to have fun with your food while you enjoy it, have fun with your date or friends or partner, and not feel overwhelmed, yet still feel comfortable and relaxed while dining, MOFU is the place.
I wish I’d saved our receipt so I could shout out our waitress from tonight by name. She was excellent and very attentive throughout. I hope the owner/manager reads this through so they can identify her and let her know how appreciative we were for everything. Thank you again for everything tonight.
Decent food. God-Awful service.
Seated at 7 for a birthday dinner and the birthday girl was the last to get her food, 90 minutes later, at 8:30. Waited 30 minutes for our drinks.
Never again.
The only thing good about this place was the decorations. The food, however, was basically inedible. I ordered the Impossible Stir-Fry and was only able to eat maybe a 1/4 of it. Not only was there too much meat and too little noodles, it felt like eating a cup of salt and soy sauce. I could feel my sodium levels rise. Utterly disappointed and felt like I wasted my money here.
Food is amazing. Regular here in Raleigh... Diamond is an awesome bartender, she's the best! Sadly, called at 925 for a to go order...and they told me no. She said they close at 10 and won't take any phone orders. She also said if we walked in, they wouldn't serve us. That's ridiculous...I live 2 minutes away and they turn me down...and if I walked in at 925 there is no way they would tell me to leave...and if they did, they don't deserve to be in business. Again, food is delicious, but if I owned this place, I wouldn't turn down business because my staff was lazy...get new staff...the owner should contact me for feedback....I love good food but don't let kids ruin your business.
Best dumps in town
Great atmosphere, food and prices (for the quality). Menu has a lot of vegetarian options + unique flavor profiles. Highly recommended!
Dara was a wonderful bartender! Really enjoyed the pork belly bowl and the chicken and ginger dumplings! Thank you Dara and Mofu stafff!
The food was amazing and we loved the decor/aesthetic of the place. Would definitely eat here again! (:
The best dumplings I've ever had. I stumbled upon here and consistently the times I've been the dumplings are unlike any other. I've taking dates here and various friends visiting the area and everyone agrees this is beyond worth it. The smoked pork belly highly recommend as something mouth watering you will always want to come back and order again.
Small portions but tasty
Food is good but the service is pretty terrible.
Overrated.
Stopped by here to try out the food for a birthday and needless to say the celebrant was disappointed. The Why- The person that took our order seemed to be not welcoming, only got checked on maybe twice during our dining, and food was decent but not the type I would box up to take home if I had leftovers (we had quite a bit).
Shout out to the ladies that brought out our food, they were cool.
PS- Stay away from the kimchi tots.
Let’s be honest. Food is only part of what you pay for. The food is fine. The thing you’re really paying for is service. This is by far the rudest and most obnoxious staff I have ever encountered at a restaurant. Perhaps train your employees to recognize guests as the entire reason the restaurant even exists.
This place is great! Nice atmosphere, good food and service! Everything we had was delicious. Even order takeout and it was still good. The wait for takeout can be long even if ordered ahead but still worth it.
One of my favorite casual spots downtown, hands down. The food is always amazing and they rotate out their menu frequently which is great for trying out new things! Cocktails usually take a little bit to get to the tables, but they are always delicious and well-balanced. If you’re in the mood for dumplings or noodles, this is your spot!
My husband and I tried the pork dumplings and chicken fried rice. The food was brought out cold and the quality was not good at all. It tasted like frozen food would heated up. The biggest thing was that it was super expensive for the quality of food delivered. Overall, super disappointing and I would say worst place I’ve tried in the Raleigh area so far.
Overall a really good place with really good food. The price was a bit too high for what it is but overall a good place!
Came here with my fiancé for date night, and the food was delicious! Highly recommend all of the dumplings, pork belly, basically anything on the small plates menu. For large plates, we ordered the shaved beef and noodles and it was really bad. Dry meat and noodles with no sauce- so I’d skip that one! But everything else was great.
L
Everything was great. The Sake Flight, which was my first ever was amazing. Our table of 4 ordered a little of everything. Delicious.
Great location and great food in downtown Raleigh. MOFU has amazing dumplings, but you really can’t go wrong with any dish that you order! It’s walkable from so many other great locations in Raleigh as well, and the ambience is fantastic!
This was my first time at Mofu and I will absolutely go back! I have Celiacs and the entire restaurant was kindly accommodating to help me avoid Gluten. The menu also has some delicious Gluten free options. The assistant manager waited on us and was the friendliest person, he gave me a whole list of gluten free options and offered me substitutions to make other menu items Celiacs friendly. My meal came out 3-5 min after my parties due to an error in the kitchen and he was kind enough to comp their delicious Vietnamese Coffee Mousse - wholly unnecessary as I was not bothered, but highly appreciated! Myself and my friends had a great meal, great drinks and the best time!
Great selection of menu items and happy to see the balance of vegetarian offerings with impossible meat substitutes. I enjoyed the kimchi tots and the d'impossible dumplings!
The atmosphere and service were excellent, creating a pleasant dining experience. However, as someone who appreciates authentic Asian cuisine, I found the food to be a bit lacking. The fried rice was overly salty due to an excess of soy sauce, the bulgogi dumplings didn't quite capture the essence of bulgogi, and the chicken was disappointingly dry, not pairing well with the sauce.
I went just for the fried pork, but there is nothing fried about it seared maybe but the flavor was there just not what I was wanting.
Really great food and fun atmosphere! Staff are really friendly and helpful too. We haven’t tried anything that we haven’t liked yet. We tried all three dumplings, brussel sprouts, shaved beef noodles, minced pork noodles, and the churros. Everything has been fresh and full of flavor. Textures are spot on too. Crunchy, soft but not mushy, crispy, juicy, etc. exactly where they should be. Bathrooms were a little dusty, but clean, which is usually a great indicator of how well the kitchen is taken care of.
One of our new favorite spots. Great place to try!
The food tasted and looked as though it came frozen and microwaved. The waitress was interested in waiting on us,I never got a refill and she only came to check on us once. The atmosphere was the best part of this visit, will not be returning.
Cannot speak on the other dishes, but the tofu belly bowl was abysmal for $20. The fried tofu lacked any kind of flavor or texture and was accompanied by 3 cold flavorless toppings. The gin jam cocktail was nice.
Plenty of unique vegan options!
Tasty food, good vibes, and great staff! My friend and I split the shaved beef noodles, beef bulgogi dumplings, and chicken and ginger dumplings, and had the Asian churros for dessert. We especially liked the kimchi sauce served with the bulgogi dumplings! Will definitely be coming back :)
Kimchi tots were amazing!!
Oh my goodness! You have to come in, relax, and have small plates. Everything was delicious, especially the bao buns. We will definitely return.
Do ask for less salt and oil in your order.
Great dumpling spot in downtown raleigh. I got the wings (both flavours) and dumplings. All were incredible.
I really hope we came on a bad night, but wow was this place disappointing. We had 6:15 reservations because we were seeing a show at 8. Drinks took 20 minutes, and food we ordered at 6:25 showed up at 7:15! We had to eat super fast to make our show. The dumplings were good but the pork belly bowl was not. The pork was dried out and the poached egg was actually cooked all the way through so the whole bowl was dry.
Great staff. Delicious eats, plates to die for and share. They have a great vibe inside and we were lucky enough to be seated in the lofted area overlooking the rest of the restaurant. The dumplings are all insanely delicious, especially the chicken ginger ones. This is a great place to come to share lots of plates. The brussel Sprouts are amazing. The mofu wings are yummy. The pork belly was such Ana amazing g combination of flavors. All their dishes are an incredible fashion of flavors and styles.
Dumplings were mid for $12. This is a dumpling establishment. 5 pcs isn't enough for that price. Food was tasty, though if this is a dumpling establishment, providing a price of even $8 would be more worth the total especially because you are unable to taste test the dumpling menu. So to try 2 different kinds of dumplings you'd have to pay $24 plus tax. That is outrageous. The beef bone soup was delicious however for $16 and was enough for 2 people to share. Kimchi tatertots are bangin'.
Such a fun place! Great food, service and atmosphere. We've been several times, never disappoints.
Fantastic menu choices in an industrial chic yet elegant atmosphere. If you enjoy pan Asian with a creative flair this place is for you. A really cool eclectic environment. Chef Jade is creative, consistent and right on point.
One of the best food experiences I've ever had! I ordered the beef noodle soup, my mother ordered the smoked pork belly bowl and my sister ordered the shaved beef noodles and everything was AMAZING! We shared some small plates and the dumplings were impeccable! So full of flavour! The service was the cherry on top and our server Prince couldn't have been more attentive or fun to talk to! I'd give more stars if I could, couldn't recommend this place enough!
Great evening. Ordered a little bit of everything and it turned out great. Obviously get the dumplings but my favorite was bao buns.
Please, for the love of everything holy, please bring back the Tom Yum Mac and Cheese!!!!
Atmosphere and staff are pleasant. Went on Sat without a reservation and was told the wait time was 1 hour, though there were tons of open tables within 30 minutes. However, we sat at the bar immediately, and the bartenders were very pleasant and fun to talk with at times. We got the beef and pork dumplings, which were good but nothing special. I really enjoy dumplings that are a little softer and juicier. The kimchi tots are not worth it, just tator tots with some quite mild kimchi which should actually have a kick but didn't. My friend got a amethyst gin drink, which she enjoyed. Glad we shared just a few dishes because I wouldn't want to spend more money here.
The food was so good! My family and I had the pork and chive dumplings and bulgogi dumplings. We also had the kimchi tots and brussel sprouts with tofu. For dessert we had the Vietnamese Coffee mousse and the churros. The atmosphere was nice. Service was great.. Bathrooms are very clean. Definitely plan to return!
Britny was great and understood the menu - which made it easy to make a good meal decision. I ordered the pork and chive dumplings and they were DELICIOUS. I also ordered the minced pork stir fry with sweet spicy sauce which is also pretty good. Cute restaurant and great menu!
The food was really good. Chicken ginger dumplings were awesome. If you like Pho the Noodle soup is definitley one to try. The broth was so rich and full of flavor. It was definitley one of my favorites. Great Job!
Went here last night and was pretty stunned at the quality of food. The dumplings weren’t hot (like they’d been sitting waiting for the rest of our food) and I ordered a coffee and it was served cold. The waitress didn’t believe me and then told me someone had turned off their hot water so it would be awhile. Do they not use a coffee pot? I also ordered a pork belly bowl to go and didn’t see til this morning that this is what I paid $16 for.
love mofu! food (pork belly nap buns, shaved beef noodles, and dumplings!!!) and cocktails were incredible and our waiter Price was the best!
