Peony Asian Bistro has become my family go to for quick sit down and order food and in a hurry. We have never experienced await time, it’s family friendly, fast turnaround when food is ordered and food is well prepared. Food tastes wholesome, service is pleasant and a very nice atmosphere. When we need a place to go after Sunday service, or on some holidays, when everywhere is booked and waitlist, we have always found a quick sit down here. The owner and his wife are very engaging at times and friendly.

Food was wonderful!!! Why is this place not busy? Enjoyed hibachi style meal, egg roll and egg.drop soup. Everything came out hot and tasty. I even had soup to go. We are visiting but will definitely be back.

The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is calm and quiet with nice dim lighting paired with peaceful back ground music. I found this place randomly a year or so ago and it's now my go to for asian and sushi (can't beat BOGO sushi rolls 🤤) and I live all the way in Roxboro if that tells you how good the food is!!

Got the bento for dinner and it was filled to the brim with food! Not just that, but it was hot, delicious, and fresh. 10/10!

My issue is that online it says they do BOGO Free sushi, but in store have no idea what I was talking about and said they don’t do that. Kind of annoying, but I got relatively cheaper rolls so whatever.

The best service and amazing tasty food! You need to try it!

Food was not very good. In fact, some inedible. Service was slow and she seemed annoyed with us being there. Won't go back.

The food I ate gave me a bout of food poisoning. Not feeling great. Avoid this place.

My boyfriend order Dinner and they completely gave him the wrong item. I don’t know if it’s a language barrier but Chicken with Fried Rice and Chicken Fried Rice are two completely different dishes. When he called for a refund the manager hung the phone up in his face but before that told him he could not get a refund. When I proceeded to call in the co manager blatantly lied and claimed my boyfriend ordered the wrong thing. She played voice auto of the encounter and nothing was heard on my end, in regards to the altercation. I will never order from here again you have lost a valuable customer. The whole encounter left a bad taste in my mouth especially the hanging up on a customer just rude rude rude !!!

Very friendly staff, and the food was delicious and fresh!

I went for a light lunch. I had egg drop soup with wontons. The broth was really good. Not loaded with corn starch like some restaurants like to do. The wontons were outstanding. I ordered an eggroll which was not very good. The cabbage seemed really old and smelled off. I saw rave reviews about the eggrolls which I disagree with. The restaurant was very dark. It almost looked like they were closed. Don't go out of your way for this restaurant.

Great Sushi

Kinda dark, but crowded and decent food at decent price.

Food is fresh and delicious! Very accommodating for dietary restrictions. Wait staff is great at lunch, but twice we came for dinner, about 1-1.5 hrs before closing. Restaurant was very understaffed both times (just two people and a cook) and we felt very neglected and rushed. The two staff (waiter, cashier) did not check on us, we had to ask several times for our water, and once they started mopping the main floor and doing similar tasks well before time to close. It was so unpleasant both evenings that we doubt we'll ever come again, at least not for dinner.

The food was really good! I enjoyed it I got General tso chicken and it was good. I loved the fried rice and egg rolls!!

Sushi specifically, is always so much better when it’s not the guy who’s the server , the cashier and the waiter making it 😂. Besides that I love this restaurant and have been coming here since 2012!

This is a small Asian restaurant o\in a strip mall that serves good fresh food and has a friendly . I often stop in when I don't feel like cooking.

The staff here is wonderful. We go with our two young boys and they are always so welcoming, friendly, and accommodating to us. The food is delicious and there is variety for everyone. We love going here and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Literally came here our last night in Chapel Hill and wish we came sooner! They had a great selection and good quality sushi. The waitress was so friendly and kind! And she alerted us to the BOGO deal on sushi rolls. The food came out so quickly!

Complete trash food. Asked for Szechuan chicken and I was handed the most rundown excuse of food that’s ever touched my palate in my tire existence.

This has been my favorite spot for quick sushi for over a decade! You can stop in for lunch on a Friday and make it back to work during your lunch hour. I love the spicy rolls and the edamame. Always delicious!

We've moved from the north east and this is one of the only good Asian cuisine we've found in about a year. Moving in a month but will be making the hour trip for date nights occasionally. The peony triple is my favorite and the staff is always kind. Very clean too!! Wonderful prices

I hate to give this restaurant a 2 star. My family has been eating here for over 10 years, and whenever someone from out of town asked about a nice place to eat, I’d send them to Asian Bistro. BUT over the last two years their food quality has deteriorated and after the General Tso chicken I ordered on Saturday, I have decided to stop eating there. The dish was unrecognizable. And almost without flavor. Perhaps they have a new cook (I couldn’t bring myself to say “chef”) that needs to be replaced, I don’t know. But at these prices I refuse to take another chance. Maybe I’ll give them a year and try them again. It’s sad for me since they are so convenient and they used to be SOOO GOOD!!

Amazing food and customer service

I've visited this place a couple times and have ordered 8 different menu items - nothing tasted like authentic "Chinese take out". Most of the items were also under seasoned and bland.

It is an authentic Asian bistro that gives a wide selection of asiatic dishes. The food is great and so are the workers!

This is our go to sushi restaurant in chapel hill/ durham. The sushi is consistent and delicious. The sushi chef is one of the best I’ve seen in this area. It’s always superb sush. My particular favorite is going during their lunch special , which includes weekdays and Saturdays. My children love the sushi and we get a couple of the triples that include 3 rolls with soup or salad. We love their spicy tuna, spicy yellowtail, Philadelphia roll, and generally the rest of their menu is all really amazing. The price is amazing and we always devour all the food. If you are someone who cares about quality, ratios, and consistency, then you will love it like we do. They do have a list of fancier rolls that we occasionally get and are also amazing. But we keep coming back because we hit the perfect balance between amazing cost and amazing, delicious food. You get the best quality and the best price here and it’s so worth it! Highly recommend it!

I went more for the Chinese menu, but they have a range of Asian dishes. One of the better Chinese places that I've been to.

The flavors were really good and consistent. A little pricy, but not completely unreasonable. Portions were good.

The ma po tofu was sweeter than I'm used to, so wouldn't get that again. But we also had dumplings, beef lomein, and orange chicken, all of which i would recommend again.

Open for Christmas, crazy busy for pickup orders, staff was working hard. I'm thankful they were open.

We’ve been coming here for years! Solid consistently delicious sushi and Asian fare with great customer service. The gyoza and hibachi are surprising amazing since this restaurant has many types of Asian food. They raised their prices after the pandemic and I feel like it’s a little too high but it hasn’t stopped it from being one of our go-to restaurants!

This place is the worst Asian food I've ever had. Old, stale, burnt, and cold. I ordered, drove across the street way before it should have been ready but ahhh, it was. Amazing.

Little skeptical at first coming from out of town. However the eggs rolls were amazing and soft but just hard enough on the outside and hibachi chicken and rice was was great along with the sushi by one get one def worth the price. Really enjoyed the food!

Tried this place and it has lots of vegetarian options! In particular, The Sesame Tofu is perfect! Tofu is fluffy and not squished! Huge helpings for take out and not spicy at all, which is great! My go too place when ordering takeout!

OMG! So good. Everything from crab Rangoon to soup to sweet and sour!

My takeout order was ready quickly. But host was rude on pickup. Gyoza was bland. Spicy tuna roll had an alarming bright red color - nothing natural about that. Hibachi: steak was way over cooked and vegetables were soggy 5 minutes later. Fried rice was dry and not actually fried at all - just had some soy sauce splashed over it. Disappointing all around.

I ordered takeout dinner, it was ready within fifteen minutes after ordering. I had the Mongolian Beef with white rice. It was very flavorful and prefer amount. I also ordered a pork egg roll, and must say it was one of the best egg rolls I’ve had in a long time. I was greeted upon entering and lady was very friendly and thanked me for coming in. I would definitely go back there and eat in or takeout. I would recommend to friends and family.

Everything was good. But Ericka our server was out of this world wonderful. She had 7 small tables and 1 large table all by herself and not one of them was waiting on anything. If you eat here ask for Ericka.

Just went here for the first time! The dining area was very cozy and clean. The food was super yummy, and the sushi was delicious! The sushi had a great texture, as well as a very fresh taste. Definitely some of the better sushi I’ve had in the triangle area. Last, but certainly not least, the server was so very attentive, efficient, but, most importantly, kind. Had everything else been bad, I still would’ve left pleased because he was so nice. Will definitely be back!!

It is my favorite restaurant. Whether you get the bogo made to order sushi rolls, any of the entrees, or the build your own bento box dinner, I have never found such consistently good quality food (and so much of it) for the prices.

The staff is very friendly, and takes adjustment and accomodation requests very seriously, without being overly attentive.

Visually, it perfectly straddles the line between decadent extravance and simple coziness. Thanks to the glowing fish tank at the front and simple dark wood and black furniture throughout, the red walls with shimmering, intricate art, and the lighting, while appearing a little dim at first, is warm and centered over each table, allowing it to be perfectly balanced by the time your back touches the seat.

The bathroom is always clean, well lit, and stocked, while remaining a small, 2 person use at a time, comfortably relaxed and private affair.

I have been going for years now on every excuse I have to be in the area. And I have never brought someone here only once. Everyone I've introduced to Peony has happily returned (if not requested) again multiple times.

*having a couple of small shopping centers next door, across the street, or max 3 mins way, with stores ranging from total wine and more to dsw, home depot, old navy, party city, Barnes and noble, Joanne's, and more doesn't hurt.

**And neither does the Frozy's Frozen yogurt and bubble tea being right across the way. (Which is how I discovered Peony to begin with, and is now the essential second stop for us, no matter who I'm with)

Sushi is always well presentable and delicious! I come here almost about once a week for the past couple of years and never have been dissatisfied along with the great service.

We love Peony and have been coming for years. We typically get takeout, but occasionally dine in. Not only is the buy-one-get-one sushi an excellent deal, the quality is consistently fantastic. We always get the shrimp mango roll and the spicy yellowtail roll as those are regularly our favorites, but everything we've had has always been good. Love it here, highly recommend!

Never had a bad meal at Peony! Both dine-in and carry out orders are always delicious. The staff are friendly, and the service is very quick. The menu is massive — has something for everyone. My favorites are the tofu with mixed vegetables, mapo tofu, and moo goo gai pan. Prices are excellent, especially for lunch specials, and portions are more than sufficient for a couple of meals.
