House of Thai is definitely pricier than most Thai restaurants I’ve been to, but it comes with the neighborhood. Their food was absolutely delicious and packed with authentic flavors! Their service was good; our waitress served our food quickly, remained attentive as it got busier, and made sure everything was okay.

I would definitely recommend ordering their Spicy Basil Fried Rice with a Thai Iced Tea. If you can handle heat ask for their hot chili sauce, it adds a nice kick. They serve in large portions, so don’t be afraid to share with your friends! Their Mango Sticky Rice was good, but I wish it had a richer coconut flavor. For the price of the dessert they could serve you a bit more rice and mangoes. If I’m in the area again, I’ll definitely come back to try out their curry dishes or noodles and definitely have another refreshing Thai Iced Tea for these warmer spring days!

Be aware that they close for an hour around 4pm for lunch and open their doors again around 5pm! We showed up at 5pm and they made us wait outside for about 10 minutes before seating us. They could’ve at least seated us and let us look at the menu in the meantime, but I understand it’s their lunch break. That’s my only real complaint, but it won’t deter me from coming back.

I really like the atmosphere. The waiter was very nice and the service was very quick. I got chicken green curry and spicy basil fried rice. The curry does not come with rice which the menu clearly says, but I think is a bit of a shortchange for $12.95 curry. All that said, the food was very very good. I’ll definitely go back. The fresh ingredients make up for the lack of rice. The chicken was all white meat. It wasn’t as spicy as I’d have liked, but the after brought extra pepper to fire it up. The fried rice was excellent.

What a gem! My wife and I had a delightful dinner here. The staff are kind and attentive. The food is beautifully presented and flavorful. I had the "Love bird in the golden" and it was a wonderful departure from my usual pad thai. I recommend this place for some great Thai food! And try to leave room for dessert!

Massaman curry and pad tai are just awesome here. I always love having take out here. Grab and go home, also the Tom kha soup made my life when I’m sick.

Worst massaman curry ever no flavor no peanuts and when you call the shop there only remedy is they will tell the chef for the future. Me while I now have dinner that is tasteless.

I came here for a lunch special and I wish I could say good things but I cannot. I’ve been visiting the Thai spots in the area and there a a lot and this one was the worst - lunch special came to $19 for just a very small salad and a small portion. I ordered red curry - what I ate was not red curry just some sort of sauce but didn’t have the flavor or spice level of red curry - hardly and chicken and I’m not even a protein person but there was barely any in there. The poor rating is more for the flavor than the portion because it didn’t taste like Thai food. The salad albeit very small at least had a nice peanut sauce. I would go elsewhere- too many better options in this neighborhood

Ho preso il Pad Thai ai gamberi e la seconda volta all'anatra che ho gradito di più per via di una salsa meno dolce. Porzioni abbondanti e di discreta fattura con prezzi nella media. Peccato la chiusura alle 22 per chi è abituato a cenare tardi soprattutto in vacanza.

Their behavior is appalling. Save your time and money by choosing another nearby restaurant. In an emergency, I needed to use the bathroom briefly. Despite no other customers present, they insisted it was for patrons only. Considering the lack of public bathrooms nearby, I believe restaurants should provide this facility. Despite it being almost 5 in the afternoon, not mealtime, they could have shown humanity by allowing me access, possibly even covering the cost. Why support businesses that only value us as ATMs?

I work in the area and have ordered lunch a few times for pick up. I stopped by once for dinner. The food is okay. The last time was a week ago. I ordered the basil fried rice lunch special. The rice was kinda hard. I prefer other Thai restaurants in the area.

We ordered the food around 8:00pm and it said the food was on the way and delivered by 9:30pm but we never got food. Waste time and money. Never order food again.

The Best in NYC!

Definitely for white/American palette. The larb is the blandest for any Thai restaurant. Where the fish sauce, the lime, the burst of flavor??? That was a miss. Also got the dancing chicken. There was no dancing on any level. Just sweet stir fry. Where’s the heat?? Where’s the spice??? I wouldn’t recommend to any one wanting something authentic. So many other authentic Thai in queens. THEY CANT COMPETE WITH HUG ESSAN.

After dining here for years, both in person and take away, I just received my order and there is a ROACH in the soup. Ordinarily, I probably would not have posted a review like this, but when I called for a refund the woman who took the call laughed, and offered to replace it. I had to argue for a full refund as she didn't seem to understand that replacing the buggy food was not a suitable option.

Xtra charge! Xtra charge! Xtra charge! Beef salad was basically dry. Asked for more of the dressing, “that costs extra.” Even tho it was so dry. I asked why the pad thai wasn’t served with a lime and they said “that costs extra”. Then I asked for chili paste, a pretty standard condiment that is usually just brought to your table in a jar. Again they told me “that costs extra.” I’m never coming here again. The food was mediocre at best and the service was accompanied with snark. There are other better thai restaurants in Astoria. Avoid this one, at all costs!

Great service and food. Fried Tofu Pad Thai was a huge portion and delicious. The chef special Crying Tiger was tender beef, a bit spicy but not intolerable. Lychee Martinis were strong and tasty. Would highly recommend this spot.

Found this Place very close to where I was staying and I am so glad that I did.
I was so fortunate to try my three favourite dishes:

Yum Nua (beef salad)
Mussamun Curry (w/ chicken)
Pad Kee Mao (w/ chicken) (aka drunken noodles)

Each dish was prepared extremely well with fresh ingredients and the right herbs and spices. Where dishes were supposed to be a little spicier they definitely were and you could really taste the quality of ingredients.

Service was quick and customer service was excellent. When we asked for recommendations on dishes you could really tell that staff knew what they were talking about the level of detail around flavour and preparedness for each dish.

I have no idea if this is a popular restaurant or not but from a quality standpoint - it was some of the best Thai food I have ever tasted (and I have visited Thailand).

Definitely visit this restaurant if you are in the area - service and food will not disappoint!

My friend and I both got Pad Thai which was delicious! The sauce was perfect. But we were mostly impressed with the kind service. The waitress was so attentive and kind, and noticed things without us saying anything! She also told my friend she looked like Lindsay Lohan so she was beaming. The restaurant is also lovely with an adorable outdoor area. We will be back! Thank you so much!

-Food was ready(12 min after ordered by phone).
-Beef Classic Fried Rice (lunch) and spicy Beef Pad See Ew (lunch) both come with side salad with peanut dressing on the side. Both had good portion, and tasted good and authentic too. Pad see ew was spicy as requested. No complaints!
-Price was reasonable for LIC area. Those 2 orders were total $32.56 after tax.

We order two lunch specials - Pad Khee Mao (chicken) and Classic fried rice (beef), both are along with a small box of salad. Also we got Golden fried tofu as our side dish. If you are in a hurry or just fancy Thai food but feel lazy to cook, go order House of Thai! Food comes quick and well packed, keeps hot and warm when we got.

Pad Khee Mao is kind of spicy pad Thai noodle, although it’s blending with heavy sauce, you can still tell the ingredients are fresh and the flavor is performing with harmony. Golden tofu tastes crispy outside yet solid of inside firm tofu.

Lovely experience with decent value. Would certainly go visit in person next time when craving authentic Thai food again.

Have not had the pleasure of dining in here but I had the chicken wings and another dish for take out. Both the entrees were delicious but the chicken wings were truly the best and very crispy.

The Thai salad was delicious. I ordered the Pad Thai with beef which had a good flavor overall.

Food wasn’t seasoned and very bland. The thing that was most troublesome was the treatment i received by the staff. They seemed to be feeling overwhelmed during lunch time and I guess decided to take their frustration out on me. Very flippant and dismissive. They also yelled at me for asking for soy sauce cause there was none in the bag (mind you my take out order was over $100). I don’t think I’ll be visiting again. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

I Google for authentic Thai food and was one of the places that came up. I chose this place since it got such great reviews.

HOWEVER, THIS PLACE IS DEFINITELY NOT AUTHENTIC. How I know, I was dated a a Thai guy for 2.5 yrs, and this place definitely does not compare.

I feel like I was eating dessert as food, everything was extremely too sweet. If anyone can recommend a REAL AUTHENTIC Thai restaurant please let me post here.

The employees are super unprofessional, rude, arrogant. Waitress Ann specially. Even they scam your Cc. Like I tipped them $ 5 on Cc and $5 cash. They made the Cc $5 , $15. And when I called them and inform them the waitress Ann was trying to make it so big she wanted me to wait for see the camera who did it and all nonsense. Wherever I had already sent her the recipe pic I have that clearly said it’s $5. The owner gotta take a strong initiative. Well I read the answer from your end, and just would like to tell you I’m in hospitality business and studied the same. Maybe we are serving wrong at our 5 stars Hotels. We got this type of billing issue everyday. And it’s pretty natural to make mistakes but we never ask our guests permission if we can check the camera!!!😉!!!!! Funny 😄 . Well we used to be your regular guest. At least twice month. And yes of course the food is good there. And you guys didn’t refund the amount yet.😄. Well the funny owner’s funny employee. Good bye you guys won’t see us again ever and business is marketing. You lose so many guests for your answer only. It made sure that not only the employees, the owner of the restaurant is arrogant too.

I want to give this place five stars but I feel like I should give them three so I have compromised with four. Why? I would love to support local and their food is very good most of the time. We were so happy when they opened an added another lovely restaurant to our neighborhood. We were also super delighted when they added outdoor seating. Why 3? Since they’ve been open prices have jumped and portions have shrunk. We understand they had “getting to know us pricing,” but if we get delivery there’s other cheaper options. Drinks are just ok. We also found out (The hard-way) vegetarian might still include fish. Their outdoor seating is now all in-closed defeating the point but I suppose winter is coming but in the summer it felt like a steam room. Lastly certain food menu items have declined. Small example we all got noodle soup. Less veggies and no tofu. Oh, and the music offends most of my family but I tune it out.

Still. Their food is good and they have a very friendly staff. We will continue to support and eat there. We also love the 10% cash discount. They are clean and most of their dishes predictably good. I’m happy they’re here.

They didn't catered to my food allergies and I had stomach pain from eating they're spicy food after I said no spicy food please make it without the hot spices and they disregard my food allergies and gave me hot spices anyway.

You only can fool people from boondocks who gave this place 5 star reviews. But not New York people. Not only it is inauthentic, but it tastes no good. I think the chef needs to travel Thailand or at least Jackson Heights/East Elmhurst to learn how to cook Thai food properly.

UPDATE: The owner dared to answer my review. I ordered a Pad Kee Mao which is a very basic Thai food commonly known as Drunken Noodles. It came in Pad Thai noodle. Enough said. Mai au khrap! If the owner doesn’t want to validate my review, that is fine. But why doesn’t he/she try the same dish at a place on Broadway in East Elmhurst? Since the owner thinks all my reviews are “unsatisfied,” for the record, I don’t review good restaurants because I want to keep them secret. Oh! I don’t like restaurant owners who regard people in Queens not as sophisticated as people in other boroughs. They bring mediocre food and charge Manhattan price. I don’t have any issues with price for good food. So I take it as an insult. I usually review those places.

The food here is amazing and they have very nicely lit outdoor dinning area but there’s a weird line of old beaten up chairs as you enter and some uneasy steps so not really handy cap assessable. The staff are nice though, I dined alone cuz I was on my lunch break.

Indoor dining restarted today so my friend and I went for lunch. Tables are spaced far apart, they also take your temperature and have you sign a log. Food is absolutely delicious. We both got lunch specials, which come with jasmine rice and salad with peanut dressing. I got the basil chicken which had big pieces of chicken and lots of veggies in a slightly spicy sauce. One of my new favorite dishes. My friend got one of the curries which she liked very much as well. Extremely reasonably priced for what we got, I think the total for both of us was under $25. Hoping this place does well and I can return again.

I had a lovely time here with my boyfriend. They have great drink specials, $5 margaritas. The lychee margarita is delicious and not too sweet yet flavorful. As far as food I order spring rolls and he ordered calamari. Portions are not huge so I would recommend getting an both an appetizer and entree if you're super hungry. The outdoor seating area was quaint, on a quiet and not too busy block which made our dining experience intimate. Lastly, we really enjoyed the music. It matched the ambiance of the restaurant in a modern way. They placed soulful and calming music. Will definitely be back to try some other options.
