DO NOT come to Betong. They are cash only, so I gave them a 20$ bill for my 10$ meal. They didn’t have enough change, so they only gave me 1$ back? Sorry, but if you are cash only you should have cash to give back as change…
Everything about the meal was plain.. They use plain rice, plain chicken, instead of fragrant ingredients. And this place really needs urgent updates. (they do not have most of the things on their menu) I wonder how they stay in business, it’s questionable.
Sorry for writing this but really not worth the visit.. $10 for a lunch plate, no sides, comes with plain soup (nothing in it.)
I got a mix chicken rice (steamed & fried.) one was dry and one was oily. I couldn’t finish it.
My friend’s pork chop was dry and oily at the same time.
Surprisingly, the only good thing was the rice.
Went there for lunch. Chicken is their offer, but sadly their dishes of chickens were not tender at all (only a few were good). Their nan is mostly supermarket bought, I will not recommend at all. Curry chicken's potato were hard and raw, chickens were cold seems like just came out from fridge and heated up quickly. The other chicken was bad too, msg are all over, chicken was not tender.....
A disappointment for a chicken specialty restaurant that is worse than a below average restaurant. Will not come again.
I ordered a family meal of 4 and was told they are out of roti and it will be replaced with bai choy. I agreed to it. After 30 mins drive home, All I got was 4 plates of rice, a plate of chicken and a small portion of bai choy. On the menu, it said this meal comes with a big hainanese chicken, big curry chicken, string beans, chicken rice, and roti. I went back and asked if they give me the wrong order. The guy who took my order told me the meal now doesn’t come with the curry chicken or string beans. So if it doesn’t come with those anymore, why did you tell me you guys had no roti, it doesn’t make sense to me. I do not like being lied to. And if there’s a change with the menu, make the change on all the sites and platforms. Such waste of money for a plate of chicken, I can get from elsewhere for a cheaper price. 4 plates of rice that smells like regular rice I can cook at home. I’m just speechless when he told me. update your menu if there is a change.
By far one of the most underrated hole in the wall restaurants in Flushing. Their Hainan chicken is really tender and the rice is just perfect. Price wise it is around $9ish which is pretty cheap these days for a meal. I definitely recommend it for anyone who likes Hainan chicken!

This was the worst Hainanese chicken rice I've ever had. They used plain white rice instead of fragrant chicken rice, and the chicken was extremely dry. Very disappointing.
Did Betong change management???
I ordered to go today. I still like your Heinan Chicken but this time no chicken soup and little salad??? I like the yellow paint furnishing though. You need to revamp your menu, cooking ways, plate presentation in order your business to survive.
The restaurant super nice. The workers are super nice like the food is just not authentic at all like I’ve been to Thailand I’ve had. Haiann chicken, and Tesco lotus it was the best thing ever, and this doesn’t taste even close to it.
The price was great and the service was great as far as checking on our table. The food was flavored however it was not flavored to the actual dish. The Haines chicken was served with only rice and a side of broth and the hoisin sauce was not the best pairing to the dish. The chicken quality used was dark meat which is different. Honestly the north was the only part I did like about the dish.
I also did order a mapo tofu which was more like hoisin sauce with ground meat and tofu. The sauce was not bad but it seemed like it could have been a different dish.
My dislikes about it was the expectation of ordering the dish was not expected nor was the flavor. The flavor of the dishes I received didn’t taste terrible but should be named a different dish so it doesn’t throw off other diners expectations when ordering.
They do offer a special where their lunch dishes are e$10 fr the meal which is quite cheap. So I guess you get what you pay for but if you ask me would I return, I would not because it didn’t not meet the expectations of the traditional Chinese dishes.
You can't believe the $10 Hainan chicken lunch only has 2/3 🍚 rice? Is that rice so expensive nowadays? Does the Hainan chicken taste like that? Not even a piece of tomato or cucumber?

This place is owned by an old Italian guy now. He charged me $12 for hainan chicken that’s advertised as $10 on the menu in cash.
As of July 2024 the portion you get is no longer the photos shared by previous good reviews when it was still run by a different owner. Sad few strings of meat with rice and that’s it. The soup it came with was also warm and gross.
After a hospital stay, I stumbled upon Betong Hainan Chicken in Flushing. Despite its empty appearance, I decided to give it a try. I ordered the soup and Hainan chicken rice, and while waiting, noticed many takeout orders for their mixed Hainan fried chicken rice. My meal was perfect for my recovery, tasting just like homemade. The friendly owner, Billy, said he hired the thai chef who uses only organic chicken. This spot is ideal for families, especially those mindful of MSG. Highly recommend!

This is under new management. The pictured is 100% not what you get. The "Hainan chicken" was shredded up and look like it was left over chicken. The crispy chicken was soggy. Rice was regular white rice that was over cooked and soggy. it was highly disappointing meal.
This place is not the same restaurant that I used to come before. The food is horrible and there’s no service at all. This is my 1st time having such horrible food in Flushing.
好恶心的饭…好难吃的鸡…好脏的碗……好黑的店……凭什么一碗味精洗锅水要收两块钱…到底是谁问要不要洗锅水了……
I didn’t think this place can get any worst. The owner is a terrible person.
I like this place. Food is so delicious!
As a pregnant woman I really made a mistake when I ordered the Hainan chicken rice from here. After I finished ordering, I sat down to wait for my take out, flies in and out of the place. I feel a bit hesitant but didn’t just throw away the food cause they do look decent. Boy I was wrong… keep throwing up after having the meal and until midnight.
I think the restaurant change the owner! Very small amount of food! Like half amount of rice , chicken and soup than previous! But price not half
EDIT: Possibly new management. It was not served with the traditional ginger rice, instead being served with a soy sauce rice.
Chicken also seems different now and I didn't get a chicken soup even though they used to serve with soup. Food was served hot though and rice was soft. While it wasn't the style of chicken I expected, the manager seemed nice and service was decently fast.
3.5/10: meh if you're in the area
I think maybe this place closed down? My dad went there today to try and pick up a family meal and he said the place was completely pitch black and the door was closed. He even tried calling them but no one picked up.
Price increased, food quality decreased. Bring back the previous boss and chef please
Quality of food has gone wayyy down since Dec 2022, portions are much smaller, and the taste is no longer the same. Old crew is never around anymore, I wonder if the business got sold
I ordered the family meal for two(C1). This is the fourth time I ordered it and it will be the last. The portions are so much smaller than previously. It barely filled the tiny containers. It was like a meal for one person. There are so many other restaurants nearby. I would be surprised if they are still in business in the near future.
I bought Fried Hainanese Chicken for takeout and as I was waiting I saw the other recent reviews and new instantly I made a mistake. The food looked okay but tastes bland and very disappointing. This place really needs to be let go so don't try it, cause its not worth the time, money, cause you can get a better meal probably anywhere nearby
I don’t know how they have over 4 stars when their customer service is terrible. I asked the old guy if they got my order from Chowbus or not, because Chowbus said my order hasn’t started yet, and his response was my order will come if ordered online.
I asked if he can please ask the kitchen or go take a look, because on their iPad it says “1 new order from Chowbus”. He just continues to tell me the order will come if I order online. A 20 minute wait is now 45 minutes.
And no, the food does not taste like it’s worth the wait.
They can only pay for cash, and that is really inconvenient.
This was the worst delivery/ takeout experience I've ever had in Flushing. I ordered via their delivery partner Fantuan pad thai with shrimp, chicken curry over rice, and roti canai with dipping sauce. The pad thai arrived soggy and without any sauce or seasoning, including sugar or lime which is usually part of pad thai recipes. There also wasn't any shrimp which I paid extra for. The roti canai arrived without any dipping sauces. The chicken curry was watery but at least I can't say it didn't fit the description of what I ordered. I am very disappointed as I went to this place 2 years ago when they first opened and quite liked the hainan chicken I got and always intended on going back.
Been here a few times and used to get the family set for 2. Last visit was first week of jan 2023, not sure if they changed chef or management, the food is the not the same.
I ordered pad thai and pad see ew and got something that it seemed like they just put it in the pot and hoped for the best. They used what looked like regular spaghetti for both meals and it had chicken when I asked for tofu... what makes it worse is I ordered to go and I helped the server put the right meal in the computer (language barrier)... Bill was $27 and I gave them $30. I ended up giving the food away... it's my fault for not checking before I left but I had to go. They were nice that's why I didn't give 1 star... I'm so upset but I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else.
Worst Hainan Chicken. The chicken was dry and rice was hard. You can taste the "history" being in the storage. The sauces were ok. Whole family got food poison just by sharing 1-2 pieces as a snack.
I think the management changed. Last time I went, the boss was yelling at the employee. And the food was cold. I fled away.
Management changed and while some of the food has changed, the family choice, they include delicious bok choy with the Hainese Chicken. And the sauce for the chicken, it's still just as good before management. I would still go there again though, despite change in management.
Overall bad taste waiting time dine in 25 minute without no table n chicken like hard no ingredients soup no taste reap cheap vegetables no taste rice not fresh at all for $22.99 plus 18% tip but no service don’t believe go try u will get regret for sure
The food here is outstanding. The go to for a delicious, quick, and extremely affordable plate of Hainan Chicken Rice. If you are coming off the 7 train and need a quick meal, this is a must try.
Been meaning to write a review on this because It saddens me to see a good restaurant go down. Not sure if it’s because of new management, but I don’t see myself ordering anymore from the place I always used to rave about to my friends. No sauces were available, didn’t have Thai iced tea and didn’t take my online pickup order seriously(took over an hour after confirmed pickup time). Missing vegetables and the fried chicken was soggy. The pictures will speak for themselves :’(
Do not waste your money here. They do not use fresh whole chicken for their so called Hainan Chicken. They use chicken thighs/drumsticks and de-bone it to make it seem special. Also, if you’re a foodie, then you should be able to taste the difference. If it is authentic Hainan Chicken they would be able to sell “1/2 a chicken” in their menu instead of indicating small or large. Best way to know is ask them for 1/2 a chicken and no need to de-bone and see what they say or give you.
This place is a rip off. I ordered Pad Thai with chicken and received a total of 6 small pieces of chicken. In fact, I received more hot chili peppers than chicken in my Pad Thai.
Best chicken in nyc so far
Worst hainanese chicken I ever had
Roast duck and roast pig good. a bit pricey
They will serve you bad spoil chicken. I bought a lunch box and I’m pretty sure the chef or whoever is packing the box knew the chicken was stale and spoiled but they will still serve that. Won’t give these type of unethical people my $$ anymore
the wait is long ... not worth it
My friend worked two months last year, in my experience, this restaurant isn't that good. For example, there’s an old man who sits on the longest table for the whole day and keep watching the costumer who dine in. Think of an old man staring at you while you're eating, that feeling, OMG CANT HANDLE IT!! I wish I could call the police if I can. And guess what? He told my friend to charge two dollars to non-customer for using the bathroom, and if they don't pay, he will let my friend chase people away. He even let the chef put in less chicken for dining in. There are less than ten pieces of chicken in Hainanese Chicken rice, which costs almost $9, and the chicken is just boiled chicken, it's just boiled chicken rice, and it has nothing to do with Hainanese chicken rice. This restaurant is a fraud!!
They didn't write “cash only” on the door, so the customer have to take money from the bank after the server said it was cash only. He doesn't even allow Zelle to transfer money. Because the money will transfer to the female boss not him. My friend said the old man doesn't want to pay the bank money so they didn't prepare.
Last year were 10+ pieces of chicken in Hainanese chicken rice and cost like 8 dollars, now? Less than 10 pieces of chicken and costs 9 dollars. Lol
Confused about the 4.6 rating… The most mediocre hainanese chicken rice we have ever had, and the roti canai has no taste whatsoever.
Chicken is ok, i actually liked the rice better. Service was a bit slow but I didn't mind as I was there to catch up with some friends
Great meal, served quickly. It was my first Hainanese Chicken and Rice, and holy smokes, what a great dish.
Betong Hainan Chicken was so good. My husband's been on a mission recently craving Hainan Chicken, and absolutely loved this place.
It's a small hole in the walk place, however those are always the best too. We went early afternoon, it was quiet but more time to figure out what to eat since we were hungry.
Appetizer and our entrées were delicious. Before your food arrives, you are served a hot drink and a small bowl of white potato soup. Our appetizer was soft, crisp, with the curry sauce. Our entrées were a great portion, made to perfection.
There were only two people working, the chef who is mostly behind the scenes getting through the kitchen and delivering the food up and our waitress were a small team. Our waitress was very friendly, attentive each time she came over to see if we needed anything or checked in to ask how our food was.
At most, you just need to look for parking in Flushing. Since it's right by main street, it can ge extremely busy. I recommend you park elsewhere, and take the walk going to Betong Hainan Chicken. It might be hard to miss from the outside, just look for the restaurant carefully.
All major credit cards and cash are accepted. Great food, friendly staff, looking forward to our next visit back.
It’s the worst food I have eat. I don’t know why there are a lot of good experience
Really solid Hainan chicken. Not very westernized so it might not be everyone's taste, but definitely sticks true to traditions with a nice presentation and service.
I thought it was still the same Taiwanese owner, I went in and looked at the menu. It was completely different. Not my taste.
A lot of food for a great price. Everything was excellent!
Amazing family meal deal. Food is fresh and full of flavor. I was pleasantly surprised. Service is FAST!
Nice little Thai restaurant. Good food. Nice people. Only takes cash.
I've enjoyed my meals here. The chicken and rice is tasty and simple. Well priced rice dishes and family meals.

Authentic hainan chicken rice! The owner is very friendly. The place is super clean! And the price is super reasonable too
Best hainan chicken and curry chicken meal.
Love this spot. Super nice to sit in. Super satisfying portions, delicious!
Good food. Hole in the wall!
Excellent khao man gai !!!!!
By far one of the most underrated hole in the wall restaurants in Flushing. Their Hainan chicken is really tender and the rice is just perfect. Price wise it is around $9ish which is pretty cheap these days for a meal. I definitely recommend it for anyone who likes Hainan chicken!
很好吃!
Order the Hai-Nan chicken rice dish. Ate it, few moments later, i didn't feel good. Feel like vomiting 🤢and also diarrhea. Probably salmonella poisoning. Ain't going back
The combo fried chicken and hainanese chicken was delicious and the price was good for the value. You must try their chilly sauce it was flavorful. Pretty authentic.
The foods are horrible. Worst hainan chicken and the curry are just watery and tasteless. The rice taste uncooked. We also had to asked for utensils. The place doesn’t look clean and the tables are sticky. The service was overall bad. Those 5 stars must be friends and family reviews.
The place is clean and the people working in this restaurant is very nice and accomodating
We ordered dinner for 4. Plenty of food and very authentic Hainan chicken. Kids like Thai ice tea. We took out one more portion of Hainan chicken to share with parents.
Delicious Hainan chicken!
A must go when you are hungry in the area 😜
One of my favorite restaurants in Flushing. Love their Hainanese chicken rice.
My family ordered to-go and all four of us had diarrhea later that night.
Chicken was not fresh. Avoid!
The order we have received looked completely different from what others have posted on Google.
Amazing hainan chicken combo!
Super friendly service as well!
Best hainan chicken in Flushing. Super fast service and generous portions.
First time trying Hainan Chicken and was quite impressed! The service was great and the place was clean. Coming back soon.
Best chicken meal ever. Nice service. Will come again!
Great food reasonable price. 5 stars
Delicious food and excellent service
Him my food. Loved thai tea.
Good price. Only takes cash.
Place could be cleaner...rather run down
Found this place on accident and we decided to give it a try and omg the food was so DELICIOUS! The portion is so large and the price is very reasonable. Customer service was also very lovely. We cannot wait to come back next time and will definitely let our friends know about this place!
Great food and service! I will definitely come back again!!!
Good food and service. Place is roomy with about 8 tables. Good place to sit down and eat talk during rainy weather.
This place is so good
Friendly and convenient. Everything I’ve had is good, especially like the roti, string beans, and soup.
Great Hainan chicken and sauteed string beans. Got the combo for 2 people. Included a nice Thai sauce + separate curry chicken and rice.
Loved this spot, can’t wait to come back. The Pad Kee Mao was incredible!
Friendly staff and great authentic food. Great hidden gem in beautiful Flushing.
New Malaysian/Thai spot. Hole in the wall, but clean and food is great especially for price. Women-owned so definitely go support!
Terrible customer service and the worst Hainese food ive had. Chicken was not good, curry was water down and the most oilest roti ive ever had. My husband had the server sent it back and the server didnt apologize and gave us an attitude. I would not recommend anyone to come here.
Would give this place 0 stars if I could. I just got shouted by the waitress at the front that looks like a boy and wears glasses, short hair. I asked to be seated and first thing she shouts is ‘ GET YOUR VACCINATION CARD OUT!!!’ . I told her she didn’t need to shout but ask me. And then she shouted back ‘BECAUSE YOU LOOK LIKE YOU DONT UNDERSTAND!!!’ I told her I am American and speak English then she started getting into an argument. I decided to leave. Very embarrassing service. TERRIBLE, how can I eat here after she talks to me that way?! No apologies from her. Please fire her.
Delicious and authentic Malaysian food!
I ordered the regular hainan chicken rice and fried hainan chicken rice to go. Both were superb and delicious. Took a while for my order to be ready ~20 minutes but it carried well and like I said tasted great. Simple menu, focusing on a few staples. I will definitely return.
Really great food and prices! We shared the family meal of roti canai, string bean and hainan chicken as well as a pad kee mow. Everything was so flavorful, especially the curry dip for the roti and the chicken rice. Also excellent string beans!! Just note that this place is cash only
I ordered a small family meal, and EVERYTHING was so delicious and fresh! Hainan chicken was so delicious and BONELESS!!! Will be ordering on a regular and trying everything from their menu.
Came for Hainan chicken but is now in love with the Fried Chicken!! Very fast service, delicious soup that comes with rice dish. Fried chicken is just, amazing!!
Hainan fried chicken rice is the best dish around this place, personally recommended 👍
Very good chicken and rice.
Excellent food and very fresh!
Good value and delicious 😋
After 2 days of eating non-rice meals, we are super glad to eat at this place.
The first bite into the fried chicken with a stroke of plum sauce and a full scoop of rice feels like heaven, the Asian heritage heaven where you meet the nostalgic taste of the rice your ancestors cooked.
Great stuff, not sure why this restaurant isn’t more popular. Loved the Hainan chicken.
Mediocre service, good food, small space.
Very good food with affordable price and very nice service!
Next time I will pay properly!
Best in Flushing I can find so far, Even the free soup comes with it is very good. Must try if you come to flushing.
Food was fire. Try their main dish !
Great service. Tasty food at an affordable price. Will come again!
Love this new place!! Amazing Hainan Chicken, very authentic!! Will def come back!! Highly recommended!!
之前在安姆赫斯,想吃得跑很远,终于来法拉盛了,好吃
Great chicken over rice.
Great family set, I especially love their string beans, it’s really yummy!
Can I put no star!! Fake hainan chicken!! Chinese post wrote the chief from Thai! No way! FJ Chinese!
1) OMG walk in the restaurant no AC and had flies flying around your dishes.
2) Hainan chicken taste like steam chicken
3) Roti Canai w/curry sauce, sauce and potatoes was cold
4) Pad Thai, sweet like hell and watery
This place is a good place for Hainanese chicken! The chicken was moist and the soup was savory.
Trash service, wouldn't buy anything from them anymore
Best Hainan chicken rice I’ve had in a while. Excellent service as well.
We got the C1 combo - comes with roti canai - hainan chicken (small), sautéed string beans, 2 chicken rice and a soup for $19.95… feeds a party of 2..
.
Everything was delicious, the roti was made fresh and the curry chicken was straight out of the pot, the potatoes was still piping hot…
.
The hainan chicken was moist and also boneless. The sauce was a dry spicy, garlicky with other spices, as opposed to the sweet soy sauce… the spiciness didn’t really linger so i was able to handle.. they do have a picture with the soy sauce in it, maybe you can ask for it..
.
The string beans was ok, your typical string beans dish…
.
Chicken rice, it’s not as yellow as as other places or as greasy, but it does pack a lot of flavor so don’t let the color fool you..
.
It was the perfect portion for the two of us.. We aren’t overly stuffed and certainly did not leave hungry. they also offer Thai dishes like pad Thai, pad see ew and pineapple fried rice.. head over to Yelp for menu and prices..
.
They are located 135-38 39th Avenue. You can easily pass the location as there it still no sign, so look for the address so that you don’t miss it. And be patient with the service as they just opened…
Exceptional.
Get the $35 combo that serves 3-4 people. Comes with 4 chicken oil rices, plate string beans with salty black bean sauce, Coconut curry chicken with roti and plate of Haianese chicken.
Chicken was good and tender and the rice is very flavorful. Recommended and will come again
Delicious hainanese fried chicken and rice in a nice low key restaurant. Drove all the way from Boston to visit a friend and I love the food here.
Good service and good food
I ordered hainese chicken over rice for takeout. Short 10 minutes wait. Great, tender steam chicken. A+
