Kru Brooklyn is a must-visit for anyone looking for an upscale, contemporary Thai dining experience.
Came in for dinner with a friend a few weeks ago and really enjoyed our meals here! We ordered the Roasted Bone Marrow, Red Curry-Rubbed Half Branzino, and Honey Soy Crispy Pork Belly and we thought everything was amazing!
The Bone Marrow and the Pork Belly were my favorite dishes here. They have a limited quantity of the Pork Belly dish every night, so you might have to ask the server if it's available. We couldn't finish the Pork Belly because it felt a little too sweet later on, but regardless, it was just so good. Definitely would be down to come back to try other stuff as well :)
Went with the staff recommendations and so glad we did. Each dish was thoughtfully crafted and delicious.
The steak tartare had a thai spicy flair, the crispy noodles a wonderful blend of sweet and refreshing. The branzino was perfect.
Great atmosphere, wonderful service, and delicious plates.
Went there with my best friend for dinner and loved it.
The place is beautiful, love the decor. The staff is warm, welcoming,& attentive and gave the best recommendations. The foods is mouthwatering, absolutely scrumptious; authentic with the right balance between spicy burn and taste. (They will ask ur spice tolerance). The unlimited rice will have you screaming with joy. I apologize for eating so much of it, I’m Haitian. The staff was encouraging and sweet about it!
You leave satisfied and full. I strongly recommend.
We went for restaurant week. Ambiance was great, looks amazing. I love the Gallery wall they have in the main dining area.
Food was great, we had the restaurant week menu and tried almost everything. The squid salad was delicious and tart. We could have lived without the pork jelly, but if you lack collagen, it’s a great way to get it. The entrees were definitely our favorites, the curries were made delicious. Note: We sat next to another couple and they left because they didn’t have many vegan options.
My husband noticed that the wait staff looked very under dressed, some just looked like they rolled out of bed. Don’t know if that’s the vibe, our water was just wearing what looked like an undershirt. I don’t know if that was the uniform.
My overall experience at Kru was underwhelming. The evening kicked off with an unintentional wine shower, courtesy of the waiter who shattered a glass of red wine onto me from the table next to me—which, by the way, the tables were uncomfortably close together. I was left with a drenched sweater the whole dinner.
My wife and I had come for a Valentine’s Day dinner and started with the creamy crab meat tartlet, which was delicious. Crab without the hassle of peeling shells? Yes, please!
For small plates, we tried the heirloom tomatoes, steak tartare, and bone marrow. Unfortunately, the tomatoes were flavorless and had a soggy texture, as if they’d spent the day marinating in fish sauce. The steak tartare was fine, but one of the two bone marrow servings had no marrow—though the flavor of what was there did not disappoint.
For the mains, we had the half branzino and cow tongue steak. The branzino was cooked perfectly and packed with flavor, though a side of pickled vegetables would have elevated the dish. The cow tongue steak in curry stole the show and was my favorite of the night.
I may consider giving Kru another try, but only if they change the menu—and keep the wine in the glasses.
The best Thai food I have had on the east coast. Ordered a 3-course meal starting with the crab meat tart, then steak tartare, and finally massaman (red) curry with beef tongue. All three dishes were incredibly flavorful. It was a Friday night and the place was full and festive. Highly recommended.
Delicious (but spicy)!
Outstanding food. High recommend the lobster tartare and the bone marrow.
Hidden gem. Same chef as Fishcheeks. Husband and wife team. Go before it blows up.

Just awful. The food had no nuance, all acid for the salads. The bone marrow was so overcooked it was just a pool of grease with some stale prepackaged toast squares. But most appalling was the service. The diner next to me left 45 minutes ago and the dirty dishes are still there. My dishes are still here and i’ve paid the check 10 minutes ago. I was presented with a check where the tip was pre-checked at a higher level than I would have given. Maybe this place was great at one time but now it’s a sorry mess.

This place is so lovely and the food is truly exceptional! Great date spot, friend spot, just all around gem!
Very happy to have luckily stumbled by this restaurant in Williamsburg. Staff was very accommodating and able to get us seated on a busy night. My friends and I were all impressed by the food starting with the appetizers and great wine and cocktail list too. We'll be back soon.
A true gem hidden in one of Brooklyn’s buzziest neighborhoods. Incredible food paired with genuine hospitality and a super fun wine list. Can’t wait to go back.
Opens the door to the history of Thai cuisine. Every dish was delicious and tasty. Must drink wine/ beer with the meal to enhance the experience
Just a negative experience with Kru and its booking partner Resy. Had a medical emergency that led me to miss my reservation. Was charged a no show fee from Resy which I understand it’s protocol but I figured maybe I can at least talk to a manager. Kru/Resy had no phone number available or customer service to contact. I emailed Kru after the fee was charged to at least try to explain and book a different reservation. My friends and I had gone to fish cheeks but won’t be going to kru or fish cheeks anymore.
Service was friendly and very helpful. Food was delicious. Bone marrow was yummy and the Saffron chicken was tender with an incredible greek yogurt sauce. Ambiance was fun too.
Everything, and I mean everything, was perfect. The cauliflower might be my favorite dish I’ve ever eaten.
Had an amazing experience here. Service was excellent and they had perfect recommendations for us that landed even better than expected. Food blew all of us away- carefully crafted and couldn’t be happier. Would definitely recommend.
Great presentation, friendly hospitality, but for the portion size the price was 50% higher than it should be.
Cold noodles were off-putting with tropical fruit, prawns and very few noodles.
The portions are small and we ended up grabbing pizza afterwards.
Food is amazing. I love their foods. It’s one of the best wine list. I would recommend this place for new experience. Special place for me! I will be back.
Loved the jackfruit salad, crab dip, branzino, and bone marrow! The orange wine was amazing.
Went there with my best friend for dinner and loved it.

You leave satisfied and full. I strongly recommend.
Wasn’t going to come here to the relatively low rating (4.2 at the time of this review), but decided to anyways because my father recommended it. Went on a Thursday night for dinner and was blown away by the food, service, and ambience. This isn’t just your regular Thai place. My favorite dishes were the “Salmon Roe Leaf-Wrapped Salad Bite”, and the “Roasted coconut milk bbq” with chicken. Be warned that they are not afraid to use spice in their dishes (I enjoyed it though). Really appreciated the attention to detail in the interior design. It is an open concept that almost looks like a large garage. I definitely want to come back.
Excellent restaurant stunning flavours and elements with entrees and main meals. Efficient service, food was delicious. Atmosphere was elegant and quiet. You don’t have to go to Manhattan for good restaurants 👍👏
An incredibly delicious meal. Everything tasted fresh and authentic. The flavors were original. It’s not Thai as we know it but elevated, yummy Thai.
Sophisticated, unique concept that takes Thai food in really interesting directions. Highly recommend Kru if you want something different. Also the staff is friendly and knowledgeable and really dedicated to making the experience memorable. Really recommend this.
Amazing Modern Thai Cuisine!! Young jack fruit small plate and the lobster dishes were my favorite! Oh and you HAVE to do a relish they offer!!
Really good cocktails with depth, delicious food and solid service. Had a small bite and the curry hamburg steak (so flavorful!), and it was the perfect amount of food, savoring every bite. Will definitely be back.
Everything was perfect
One of the best restaurants I have been to in New York! The food was amazing, service was so great. They sent us complimentary amaros after dinner and there wasn’t a meal we didn’t like. It’s such a hidden gem and would recommend.
It was a good meal, some things I’ve never had before like the savory fruit bite or the crab dip (it was a warm dip). Beef tongue curry was super spicy as they warned. Sadly there was only one dessert, fermented rice ice cream and it was not good at all. Tasted a lot like goat cheese…
Very mediocre Thai - you can literally find better through your local GrubHub
Nice atmosphere and kind service (though all the dishes come out immediately and all at once), but the food was disappointing - highlighted by their lobster dish. For such a high price point, it was disappointing to not be able to taste lobster at all. Just strong curry and pineapple flavor - the protein could have been anything. A lack of subtlety in flavors was a theme throughout, though the branzino was the lone standout dish.
The restaurant's set up feels cramped for a large space. Good fresh house-made curry unlike typical Thai restaurants would use premade paste.
We always try something new every time we eat here! Flavors are so unique and delicious. The savory fruit bite is the perfect starter - we also got the branzino and Cornish hen and loved both. Highly recommend the green peppercorn beer, it’s not spicy but crisp and refreshing.
It’s not like any thai food I’ve ever had but that aint a bad thing!
We went for restaurant week. Ambiance was great, looks amazing. I love the Gallery wall they have in the main dining area.

One of the worst meals I've had in a long time. Untrained staff (we tasted wine from a coffee cup!). We ordered the Restaurant Week tasting menu, and none of the dishes were introduced to us when placed on the table. The serving staff were clearly very inexperienced and unfamiliar with the menu. The food was very average. There are many other good options out there
This place is amazing! The flavors are so authentically Thai! Must eat! Must visit!
Amazing ! ✅
fireeeeee kinda pricey tho. loved chicken and the bites
Friend and i got their new years eve prixe fixe meal and the flavors were off, some dishes way too salty or sour. One dish the fish was not thoroughly cooked and still pink inside so we ate a few bites of remaining courses and left. My friend has had diarrhea for 6 days now after eating here.. i had a horrible stomachache
Anyone who is reviewing this place and complaining about the salt or spice level doesn’t know what authentic Thai food is…and maybe should stick to the Americanized, McDonald versions of Thai, like Sage on Graham Ave 🤦🏻♂️. Thai is all about a balance of salty, sweet, and spice. And they are all INTENSE. This place has tradition, authenticity, and innovation under one roof. This is hard to find. Maybe it is not your thing, but to review it as not good is to not understand Thai food. For lovers of more traditional Thai flavors that haven’t been “dumbed down” for the western palate, Kru is a welcome addition to a very limited number of true expressions of Thai cuisine in the New York area.
Kudos to the Kru crew. 🙏🏼
Amazing flavors!!
Food was terrible. Apps were mid. Everything was either too salty or way too spicy.
This place is phenomenal. We shared 6 dishes. All really great, robust flavors, good portions. Great service. And also decent wine. I’ll definitely go again. I’m a bit surprised as to why such a low rating. Our experience was excellent.
The food was truly authentic, but the authentic food is not always tasty. Some of the hot food were cold.
This food is bananas good. Come hungry and order: the steak tartare, crispy noodles, crab relish; fish relish, the lobster and the branzino. The crudité that comes with the relishes is so fresh, so clean, so crispy. Also order the egg omelette. It’s a must!
Utterly fabulous and interesting Thai food elevated in both flavor and presentation. Everything was tremendous and the type
Of food the whole table talks about. Try the crispy noodles, the crab or fermented fish relishes, the duck and definitely the stuffed whole fish which looks like a deep fried fish but was stuffed with a delicate rice mixture that contrasted well with the crispy skin. And maybe the best of all was the steak tartare. We will be back often!
We were totally blown away by this meal. The fermented fish was my hands down favorite dish!!
Amazing, underrated, authentic. Love the crispy noodles, all the dips, the tartare is one the best I've had and don't skip the duck!
Absolutely delicious!!!
Got the crispy noodle salad, branzino, and beef tongue curry. Crispy noodle salad was a personal favorite -- sauce and the fresh fruit paired well. Wish there was actually more fruit since I would love every bite to have a piece of fruit. The branzino was very special -- haven't seen anything else like it. Also a perfect spiciness and the pickled vegetables were a great pairing. Beef tongue curry is spicy and they do warn you. Great place for some more uncommon Thai dishes.
Very flavorful bites
Nice authentic Thai. Could be Spicy!
Barely edible food. Especially the appetizers. The tartar was ok but pig ears and cold noodles horrible. The coconut chicken tasted like it was left for two days on the stove, tasted like burn. The branzino was ok. The green curry, no flavors at all.
They bring us our entrees while we were still eating our appetizers. We had to ask for them to change our plates (and they looked very surprised we asked for that)
The place was half empty on a Saturday night, should have been a warning.
Kru Thai in Brooklyn is a hidden culinary gem that takes traditional Thai recipes and infuses them with a fresh, contemporary twist. It's like a flavorful time warp for your taste buds, delivering an array of tastes that are truly unique in the U.S.
Now, when it comes to my personal favorites, you absolutely must sample the Ma Hor, Saeng Wa, Crab Lon, and Plara Relish – each dish is an explosion of mouthwatering flavors. And don't overlook the whole deboned branzino; it's a culinary masterpiece. Kru is an essential visit, where culinary history blends seamlessly with flavors that transport me back to the delectable tastes of my childhood in Thailand.
The moment I set foot in Kru, I know I am in for an experience of a lifetime!
The restaurant is very charming with delicate decorations of pictures of various types of herb on one of the walls. The overall lighting and little votive of candles are also very inviting!
The presentation of each dish is amazing, but even more important/impressive is the quality and taste of the food. All ingredients used are fresh and prepared with pride.
CHEF OHM is truly the MASTER In recreating Thai dishes from 100 year-old recipes!!
KRU stands out as one of the most popular Thai restaurants in Brooklyn. The KRU team's expertise in the forgotten menu of authentic Thai cuisine with the vibrant flavors of Thailand.
The highlight of our visit was the Mar Hor, an incredibly refreshing appetizer that set the tone for the meal. This was followed by the savory cold noodles and a relish with fermented fish flavor served with fresh vegetables. We also indulged in the Grilled whole fish stuffed with rice and the lobster curry, perfect for sharing.
KRU offers a diverse menu filled with amazing dishes waiting for you to explore. We highly recommend this culinary gem!
If you want fine dining for thai food (which its not).. this is the place for you. Overpriced dishes that almost hits authentic Thai flavors. The beef tongue curry wasn't bad as far as heat goes, but you will not be eating it for primarily the flavors. The steak tartare was delicious, with a nice heat that creeps up.
Wanted to love this place, but they served us the wrong meal (that members of my party were allergic to, so they didn’t eat anything at all) and when we asked to have it replaced, the waiter asked us if we could just keep it since the kitchen was about to close- then charged us for the dish even though we asked to take it off the check. Food was ok but not worth the service (,:
Fun and elegant little gem tucked away in an industrial street with garage doors opening to a beautifully decorated, refined and comfortable space. The food was excellent, the service was relaxed and friendly, the drinks were delicious. The atmosphere was perfect for a cozy date night. As a special plus, the cost for a night out is reasonable. Thank you Kru, we will be back.
It’s an amazing experience at Kru. I’ve never been to any Thai restaurants in NYC that so brave to creat a completely different menu from others. They really set themself to other level of Thai restaurant in NYC. Kru is not only different Thai food but everything is so carefully prepare and thoughtful. I love to come here with no expectation and just enjoy the foods. Service is really right on spot. Not too formal but always their for you.
Fantastic dining experience; food, drinks, service, and ambience was amazing. The dishes and flavors were very different to a standard Thai restaurant you’d find in the city but just as fun and exciting! All the dishes were cooked perfectly and packed with flavor but highlights were the Mar Hor savory fruit bites, jackfruit salad, and sweet pork belly. Can’t wait to go back and try more dishes!
I really do not get why this spot do not get a higher rating on google. Are people just not into new modern kind of food?
In my opinion this is one of the best Thai inspired food I’ve ever had. A lot of super creative way of combining ingredients, super fresh, high acid flavor profile, very bursting like of flavors but not heavy or greasy at all (my problem with many many restaurants ).
Every time I try a new dish I feel so pleasantly surprised, it’s like opening up a present every time.
It’s very very sensual and sexy food.
And the service is always amazing , great ambience.
Would be a regular here and will bring friends back for sure.
If you are looking for your hungover pad Thai, this is not that. Kru is the taste journey you look for at a 5-star restaurant. Come before the masses find out. Everything is meticulously plated, intentionally balanced in taste, and a sensational experience. Just go you fools.
Absolutely fantastic food - not your basic Pad Thai kind of place, this is truly exceptional, with utterly delicious and unique dishes and wonderfully welcoming people. Cannot recommend this highly enough - the relishes alone are worth the price of admission.
Extraordinary food, amazingly kind people, beautiful decor, and thoughtful beverage list. Not your typical Bangkok-style Thai menu - expect adventure and enjoy.
Super! Cibo ottimo, ambiente tranquillo e rilassato
lobster curry was amazing! best lobster prep i’ve ever had!
Cute spot in Williamsburg, very quiet and bright.
The cold noodles dish really stood out to us - it had a variety of fruits (very uncommon ones) and the base was coconut-y and creamy. It was super unique!
The sweet pork belly side was also good, it is very strong in flavor and salty, I’d recommend getting rice with it. It is not something that you can just eat on the side.
Crab deviled egg didn’t have much flavor except for spicy.
The hamburger steak green curry was not good - I would not recommend it. The combination of flavors was a little weird and it is too salty for our palette.
Branzino stuffed with rice was interesting, it was definitely a unique experience and a little spicy as well.
There were two ice cream options:
- chilli lime(?) sorbet: was sour (expected) but also interesting
- fermented rice ice cream: was stinky like cheese but also interesting
Overall it was a fun experience trying different dishes that we would never have tried anywhere else!
Did not expect to like this food as much as we did based on the ratings. We genuinely enjoyed every dish. Stand outs were the jackfruit salad, raw squid(??) salad (tasted like ceviche), crabmeat curry, bone marrow, and the sweet pork belly. The pineapple lobster curry was a close second with LOTS of lobster in it. I didn’t love the duck and veggie strew but others did. Would definitely come back here.
Hidden gem in Williamsburg! The stuffed fish is amazing ✨ great flavors & service
Absolutely stunning restaurant with an authentic and unique spin on Thai cuisine. Ambiance, team and food all outstanding! Highly recommend for any occasion. Chapeau to the chef 🎩
Incredibly authentic Thai food.
This is a new modem and unique experience with Thai food. Wonderful, beautiful creation.
No patthai or Tom Yum….sorry!
Excellent the way they present the homemade to the beautiful Thai food and taste good. Try something different with real thai chief executive, You can’t got in NewYork.
อร่อย เมา ได้ใจ จริงๆ😊ขอบคุณค่ะ
Totally over-priced. Service and ambiance not at the level of a restaurant charging $30 for a “relish” dish. Food was ok but not exceptional.
Nice staff. Average food and overpriced.
Gorgeous restaurant space, one of the most unique i've been to in NYC. It's also not your traditional Thai food.
Mediocre and sometimes genuinely bad food at exorbitant prices. Had an inedible pig's ear that was all chewy cartilage, rubbery prik belly curry, and over-spiced and under-seasoned "relish." Left most of our food uneaten, and yet servers at no point asked us how the food was or whether there was anything wrong, etc.
Kru is a standout among Asian restaurants I've visited, and I find myself eagerly wanting to return. Kru deviates from the typical American Thai restaurant, which often features Pad Thai and spring rolls. Instead, it offers a modern spin on classic Thai cuisine by combining local ingredients and incorporating elements of fusion cooking. Although many places attempt this, Kru's execution is both precise and inspiring. While some traditional Thai ingredients may be absent, the flavors leave no doubt that you're enjoying some of the best Thai food around.
The restaurant also dispels the myth that an Asian eatery must look old-fashioned or rundown to serve great food. I find such stereotypes to be racially prejudiced and nonsensical. Kru's dining room is sleek, modern, and cozy, with warm colors and a relaxed, low-key atmosphere. The welcoming nature of the owner and chefs further enhances the dining experience.
Kru's menu is divided into three sections: small plates, relishes, and curries, accompanied by an array of side dishes. Since most Asian cuisine is meant for family-style dining, Thai food is no exception. We began with "Ma Hor" savory fruit bites and "Miang Tab Tim" wraps, which were expertly prepared using fresh ingredients that harmonized with the traditional flavors. The Bone Marrow "Golae" is now a must-have for me, as the combination of turmeric, chili, and coconut cream pairs wonderfully with the bone marrow, creating a crispy, creamy, and hearty bite. The steak tartare was similarly impressive, with Thai seasoning and a cured egg yolk rounding out the dish.
From the Relishes section, we chose the "Lon" Crab and "Pla Ra Hed" Relish, both of which were visually stunning and delicious. The chef's attention to detail was evident, as even the color scheme of the vegetables was considered when plating the dishes. The "Lon" Crab featured a vibrant orange-yellow chili miso, coconut cream, and tamarind dip, accompanied by vegetables of the same color palette, offering a feast for the eyes as well as the palate. A similar approach was taken with the "Pla Ra Hed" relish, which was served with an assortment of fresh green fruits and vegetables.
We also had two curries to sample: the "Kaeng Kua" Pineapple with Lobster Curry and "Kaeng Pa" Beef Tongue Curry. Both were delicious and showcased innovative techniques that enhanced the flavors of these traditional dishes. The salted egg yolk pearls added to the lobster curry introduced another layer of texture and umami, complementing the sweet curry perfectly. The beef tongue curry was spicy and herbaceous, pairing well with the omelet rice.
For dessert, we enjoyed sweet fermented rice ice cream and a kabocha cream cone, both of which offered a delightful balance of umami and sweetness. Our meal at Kru was exceptional, and I highly recommend giving it a try when in New York. A collaboration between Kru and Waldo Thai could be an exciting prospect!
Flavours you’ve never had before! Dont expect your classic Thai dishes here but come for a truly unique experience! We managed to walk in on a Saturday night for a table of 4 and was blown away by the food! The show stopper for me was the duck, such delicate unique flavours. We also tried both the desserts and were an acquired taste.. if your like me and like the combination of sweet and savoury together then you would love them! Would defo come back with v v foody friends.. very experimental flavours not for the fussy eater and also reasonably priced
I wanted to like it! Food is almost very good, but every dish is trying to be a little more than it should (i.e. apple curry).
It's so gratuitously spicy, a waiter even tried to help by pouring two drinks all over us. Unsuccessful, but we appreciated the effort.
Wow - such an incredible addition to the NYC food scene. Everything is so flavorful, different, and unique. Thai food on an elevated level, a must go.
It's good. Solid 4 stars for everything.
After reading a very exciting review I was looking forward to enjoying Kru. Sadly I thought the entire meal was incredibly disappointing. The lobster curry is too, too pineappley and sweet. A real shame especially considering the expensive price ($130 a head) for not that much food.
Very nice place and nice service. The cocktails are a little more expensive than the rest of the places in the area and both the pork belly curry and the apple curry were
very spicy without indication on the menu!
Very nice stuff and good food.
Ate here last night with some family and was blown away! The restaurant is so beautiful, and the food is elevated Thai with dishes I had never heard of before. The Ma Hor Savory Fruit Bites were phenomenal...so much flavor packed into such a pretty little package. The Miang Tab Tim Wraps brought one of my dining companion almost to tears he was so blown away. We had a relish and two curries, everything was beautifully presented and delicious. It was said over and over again at the table how this was the best meal any of us had had in a long time. The flavors were unexpected and bold, the ambiance was lovely and the service was so friendly and approachable. I can't wait to return! Definitely a place to bring family or out of town friends you want to impress. Oh, I am pregnant and got the Ginger and Grove drink and it was so good! You can't go wrong.
Order: crab, lobster curry,
Verdict: I wanted to like this more, it was inventive and beautiful. It was all just much too sweet for my liking.
Had the opportunity to visit Kru last fall, and it did not disappoint. The food is pretty spicy, but still full of flavor—and the lobster curry was insanely delicious with a heaping portion of lobster. They fully deserve the Michelin star they received!
Another place magically appearing at the edge of willy and greenpoint. Barely noticeable from the outside but the moment you walk in — warm crowded vibe of a gastropub with tons of botanical decor on the walls. You can’t really tell this is Thai.
The menu is unapologetically small — which I appreciate — unique, and supposedly authentic. Lettuce wrap filled with prawn definitely unusual and bursts with flavors but I don’t think I like it. Something bitter and not the most pleasant texture. Steak tartare is good, not great. Rich in flavor, with chunks of lemongrass which I don’t think I’ve ever had raw but it works here. Perhaps a bit overpowering. Generous portion. Relish is their most unique item and this crab version really grows on me. Lobster curry has rough chunks and is very one dimensional; almost wishing for some smoky flavors of wok or some variety in there, not just pineapple. Dessert is pleasant but not memorable and the sweet fermented rice yogurt flavor is barely noticeable.
Drinks are strong and follow the “small curated” theme. I enjoyed all of them, with young Thai probably hitting the closest to home and “three buddies martini” irking me with a $20 price tag for a barely filled tiny glass that they serve it in.
Overall, good experience but not necessarily a must try.
For an intimate date night, and attentive staff Kru is the place. I really appreciated how the staff took care of us and read the resy to wish us a happy anniversary. The drinks were good priced about $17-$20, reasonable.
The steak tartare was great, I enjoyed the the Thai spices that elevated the flavor beyond a usual steak tartare. The bone marrow tho was also complex in flavor, not just getting the fatness of the marrow but also the other Thai flavors fused with it just made me want even more.
The pla ra hed was a pleasant surprise of flavor that paired really well with the vegetables. I appreciate the diversity of at least 8 different greens. The rice omelette was a nice non-spicy dish that helped calm my tongue.
The pork belly curry and beef tongue curry were good just a bit to spicy for our taste. This place does take spice seriously so you’ve been warned.
The rice flavored ice cream with poached peach, raspberry, whipped cream, and toast almonds was a refreshing dessert that help calm our tongues after the fiery experience.
Nice beer selection and friendly service, but food was offensively average. Came here for a big Friday night with friends and honestly couldn’t say I’d ever like to eat any of those plates ever again. Glad it’s over, every calorie felt wasted.
One of the better Asian-fusion restaurants I've been to. The dip we got tasted was spectacular. In terms of the main dishes, my wife is a pescatarian, so we went for the Apple Curry, which tasted amazing. Highly recommended.
Tried out 6 dishes in total. Crabmeat Lon is the most memorable with rich flabour, fresh veggies and large lumps of crab meat. Pork belly curry is thick, delicious and balanced. Beef tongue was needless spicy, which covered up taste of most of the ingredients.
Good cocktail selection, a bit of walk from subways. Great service and finally kudos on the hostess in pajama pants😆.
I'd heard this place was new and already on some top food lists, it was good, however for the price points I'm not sure I'm convinced. They also suggested more food than we needed, and some of the dishes are just insanely spicy. It's not great for vegetarians as the apple curry is a little bland
Good food, nice atmosphere. Loved the passion fruit margarita!
Food was amazing, but super pricey, it is the only thing refraining me from coming back.
It was all just ok, yet quite expensive. No vegetarian protein which is a staple of Thai food. Service was ok, food was ok, cocktails were ok. Wouldn’t rush to recommend and given the price point 3/5 seems fair.
Kru is a symphony of flavor. The Pomeranite apps were so dynamic with a number a flavors dancing happily on my taste buds. We also had the wintermelon chicken soup which was delightfully comforting like mom’s chicken soup on a cold winter day. It was such a contrast to the other things we had. It was a great way to celebrate my birthday. The Lon smoked have was fun and delicious. You should try it for yourself. The only negative is that they don’t have a phone so we couldn’t call to let them know we were running a bit late for our reservation. Great service. Friendly people. Overall great experience
Wow… such incredible / unique flavors. They do an amazing job curating each dish. Absolutely delicious. Beautiful space!
Crab dip is unreal…favorite thing we got.
Terrible experience. Staffing did not know pacing of dishes. Went for the tasting menu on Xmas eve. At one point we asked them to slow it down (when they brought out an entree when we still were on our second appetizer) and they snapped back at us?? Five minutes later they placed our soups down, which were should have been our third dish, with the other app and entree already on the table. Our waiter ignored us for the remainder of the dinner and we had the bartender give us our bill. No apologies. Also the event was not very crowded, and they were adequately staffed- no excuses for this. Overpriced mediocre Thai. Would not recommend.
Insane food, super fun wine list, friendly staff--why aren't more people talking about this place??? A true gem
So yummy! Must get the jack fruit salad!
Place is very beautiful but expensive vs quality (30 dollars for a pork dip?) wasn’t a fan
Delicious and very interesting dining experience. They mean it when they say things are spicy. We tried the coconut based pork jowl dip - it was amazing!
Fantastic food. Not your ordinary Thai. Great service. Brooklyn vibes.
Place is skippable. Went there expecting a great menu but it was such a disappointment. Extremely limited options to pick and choose from, and the food is quite mediocre. If you want to visit a fancy looking place but don't care much about the food, you might like it. But if you are expecting a truly great Thai dining experience, the neighborhood has a lot more options to offer.
Restaurant and ambiance is really good along with staff, but food didn’t live up on my expectations. Menu was limited, Main dishes are packed with spices.
Some of the dishes I got were really bad.
Good:
Jackfruit Salad with Chicken - pretty good!
Rice omelet - pretty good! really fluffy, really savory, egg is the perfect yellow color and texture without excess browning.
Meh:
Pork Relish - The description of the dish could be a bit more specific, I didn't realize it was like a warm gravy of pork, the way the dish looks is honestly quite unappetizing, its like dipping crispy vegetables into a really thick gravy / chowder. It tastes quite good once you get over it, but it's just kind of funny.
Bad:
Pork belly curry - it was very sour, which I think is an eastern thai thing? But the pork belly was undercooked and in large chunks, which made it very chewy and unpleasant.
The price was also quite high, I paid $80 for 1 curry, 1 appetizer, and 1 side.
I found this place to be great. The food may be hit or miss based on other reviewers, but for my visit the food was executed perfectly. The atmosphere and decor was very pleasant the back courtyard is a must if weather allows.
It’s good. But fish cheeks is better.
Beautiful food and space. Definitely for adventurous eaters but will not disappoint from the cocktails to the delicious curries. Very fun spicy date night.
Amazing thai food, amazing service. Really appreciated the hospitality and attentiveness from the staff.
Lovely vibes and good food! Super friendly staff
Wow! I don’t normally leave reviews, but this was so extraordinary I had to take a moment to share.
Every bite was packed with the perfect balance of flavors and textures. This food is masterfully created with so much love.
Everything we tried blew me away. You can’t go wrong on this menu. I highly recommend the pomelo wrap. It’s the happiest my mouth has been in decades.
You won’t find any of the typical Thai food here. They told us this food was typically prepared for royalty. And that’s how I felt eating it… like a queen.
I want to go back next week to try the rest of the menu. That’s saying something considering you could spend a lifetime in NYC and never go back to the sand place twice.
My compliments to the chef ❤️
Was very much looking forward to this place but did not live up to expectations. Flavor too strong and food overpriced. Also basically entire menu contains chili so if your spice tolerance is weak like mine you will be sniffling throughout dinner. Appreciated the frequent wiping of table and utensils changes though.
Amazing authentic Thai experience with Williamsburg vibes
