Thai Golden is a family-owned restaurant and cafe located in Carmel, New York. In a no-frills space, we pride ourselves on serving the finest and freshest home-style Thai cuisine in the Lower Hudson Valley area. With the expansion in 2016, the cafe addition has provided the restaurant to experiment with more drinks, live music, art parties and an overall warm environment between traditional and the contemporary.
Well done service and bright gorgeous view on the Lake Gleneida , tasteful food, flavors are amazing at this Thai restaurant. We had a great lunch and I would definitely come back . I was Thai Golden for the first time there . Everything was excellent and fresh and look forward to trying other things .
We ordered take out couple of times and yesterday we decided to eat in. It was busy so we waited a little long for the service but it's understandable on Valentine's Day. The food was great as always. Portions are big enough that I took some leftovers home. It's the best Thai restaurant in this area.
The Thai Golden has many good choices of Curry. Highly flavorful with a scale of spice intensity 1-5. You can customize your meal accordingly.

By far the best Thai food in the area.

First time in for an event, but we order delivery religiously. The lamb, curries, and duck rolls are the favorites in our house!
Authentic Thai. Dumplings were tasty and the curry chicken with rice just right
Service was fast and the Beef Pad Kra Pao was very tasty. Entree itself was a bit small I could have had 2.
This place really sucks. Ordered a meal and four people came in after me and got their meals served. Gave some baloney about they ordered online. Why does that give you priority? I’ll never go here again.
Their Khao Soi is incredible! I can't find it anywhere, I'm so happy they serve it.
I’m embarrassed to say I’ve lived here for 4 years and only tried takeout from Thai Golden for the first time tonight. Everything was excellent and fresh - duck rolls were delicious, curry was legit and same for the drunken noodles. Will definitely add this place to the rotation and look forward to trying other menu items!
Absolutely delicious Thai food, incredibly friendly and helpful staff, fun and beautiful casual atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back.
Cute little spot with a wonderful staff of great young servers. All the servers from our waiter, (Sophie-he was kidding about his name) to Emily and Hailey were funny and personable but they also offered great service and were attentive. The food was pretty good and I definitely will be back. Cute spot
Delicious thai food at reasonable prices.
Love this place!
Delicious drunken noodles. Tasty bubble tea.
I'm not really sure what happened, but my wife (who is from Thailand) and I stopped in for lunch the other day and had to leave without ordering. We walked in, and there was one girl working who ignored us for long enough for me to think to myself, "ok, should we just sit anywhere, or should I call in to place my order?". Finally, after looking at the menu, she came back and asked what we would like to eat. My wife asks who was working in the kitchen today, and she looks at us like she could not understand the question 🤔. She asked again and got another look. I said to the waitress, "she was asking because she used to work here and knows some people and the owner. She just wanted to say hello." My wife said. "Never mind, I'll just get Som Tum soup, but can you make it like Authentic Thai style?" The waitress says," uhhhhhh... I don't know what you mean... the only person here today cooking is so and so, and they don't know what that is." My wife then said that a person from Thailand who is a chef will know, can you ask them?" She says,' ummm, yeah, buuuut I still don't know what you mean. " Not in a helpful inquisitive way but in a triggered, offended way. Basically, indicating she was not going to just ask but wanted to have a stand-off . Finally, after a long period of not being patient or helpful, says..."I don't know what you are talking about, I will have to call someone else." Walks away for like ten minutes and hides in the back until we quietly stand up and let ourselves out and went somewhere else.
Replying to the Owner;
Thank you for addressing the problem, it is not a big huge deal. We were from Carmel and my Wife wanted to hopefully speak to some old friends, but I assume that they are long gone. We were in the area and decided to stop in to say hello but was not aware of the fact there were new owners. We have been away for a long time.... Good luck, hopefully this can be a learning experience for everyone. Not sure why things went so bad over such simple questions. If you are concerned about it, then you have reasons I'm sure. Not going to press the issue. Hope you can understand from our perspective.
The staff here is kind, considerate, and overall fantastic. I'm beyond impressed and appreciative.
Food is amazing.
My favorite place for Thai food
Wonderful place for dinner
Quirky, fun atmosphere. Excellent, friendly service. Food top notch. We will definitely be returning.
Food was delicious. They are fanily friendly, the vegetarian options are amazing.
Thai Golden is my favorite restaurant in Carmel, hands down.
The food is incredible and I have some favorite dishes that I cannot live without (i.e. green curry, pad thai, roti, thai classic stir fry, mango sticky rice... JUST TO NAME A FEW!) You can taste the passion used in the cooking and the atmosphere is so cool with the variety of bright colors and scenic lake view. It's also a bonus that the cutest little gift shop is connected! Just nothing ever bad to say and I will keep coming back again and again, and you should too!
We have been going here for a few years now. The super-friendly staff goes above and beyond to tailor dishes, and the food has never been less than perfect! Absolutely wonderful. My favorite Thai food in the Tri-State area!
I can’t understand how this place stays in business. Who in their right mind would go back for seconds. Some of the worst food I have ever had period. I was somewhat concerned for my health while eating the food however I ate it anyway lol. Totally tasteless, I ordered the beef soup, chicken wings and dumplings and it was totally gross. No flavor in anything, the wings were burnt and tasteless, the soup had no taste and the meat was like rubber. The dumplings I was able to cover up in sauce, so I’m not really sure how they tasted. Highly recommend that you don’t go here.
Their drunken noodles are to die for! They have such amazing food and the servers are so nice. Also the view of the water isn't so bad.
My pad Thai smelt and tasted like a dirty diaper, I know what pad Thai should taste like I’ve been eating it for 40 years. I’ve had better instant pad Thai from a supermarket shelf.
Will not return.
As a native of Bangkok, Thailand, I am familiar with Thai cuisine, and I believe Thai Golden in Westchester serves the most authentic Thai food in the area.
We were in the area and appreciated the autumn 🍁 colors. By accident, we found Thai Golden.
We chose the "Thai Basic" - Pad Thai and Papaya salad with Grilled Chicken. The Pad Thai was pretty good. The Noodle was perfectly cooked and served with the right amount of sauce. The Papaya Salad also offered a well balanced sweet, tangy and spicy notes. The Grilled Chicken was marinated in authentic Thai spices which could stand by itself.
It is another must try restaurant if you are in the area.
Sorry, we forgot to take more food pictures. We were busy eating.
Pad Thai wings!
Very friendly service with a tasty menu, which includes vegan options.
The food is amazing! The roti appetizer was fresh and tender. The sausage was very tasty! The grilled pork was juicy and delicious! The kitchen is closed 3-4. Staff were very helpful and patient! Would highly recommend!
Best Thai around!
Best Thai Cuisine in area.
We were up in Brewster/Carmel for the weekend, just visiting from Brooklyn. This place was legit to say the least…they had a very unique variety of traditional and new age Thai dishes. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious food. The red fish curry with rice noodles is especially yummy. Definitely try this place if you’re in the area and enjoy Thai food!
Appetizers and main dishes were good, all on par. Desserts missed the mark completely. Bubble tea was pricey and the tapioca was on the hard and sticky side. "RAW" dessert seemed interesting on paper but was not very good and super pricey. Our waiter seemed out of it and, there was no AC so very warm inside, not what you want on a summer day.
Please be aware that they are NO longer offering lunch specials. Prices were increased. Delicious food, great drinks plus wonderful staff. It's just a shame that they stopped offering the lunch specials. I ordered 1 chicken pad Thai, 1 beef Pad Thai, 1 order of Duck Rolls and a large Taro bubble tea for almost $55.00 for 2 people. If I have known that prices were increased that much, I truly believe I wouldn't have go in.
Pad Thai is yummy and also highly recommend their Thai iced tea! They have a little shop inside their store with cute Knick Knacks too.
Very good food in the middle of nowhere
food is best in carmel ny
We enjoyed it very much! We had an appetizer of fried veggie spring rolls. They were very good with the sauce. I had Sam rod. It was very tasty and I almost ate everything on my plate. The jasmine rice was delicious. My husband had the traditional Thai basil stir fry and loved it. I had a mango bubble tea with passion fruit poppers. It was delicious!! I never been to this place but we will definitely be back for sure. It was reasonably priced, clean and a delightful atmosphere.
Nice place. Food is delicious. Staff are great. Easy parking. Quick service.
Good service. Great food.
Clean and nice place.
My wife and I often drive 30+ minutes just to eat here. Plenty of vegan/vegetarian options, and the drunken noodles are on point.
Love the little shop as well.
This is not your average Thai restaurant.
Very tasty dishes. Helpful service in deciding what to order.
Worst thai we ever ate. How do you call yourself a thai restaurant and have horrible, dry, tasteless Pad Thai? Very sad - where is the passion for food these days. Won't be going back here anymore.
I loved this place! I went there about a month ago, and it’s still on my mind haha. I bought like 10 bobas for my cousins, and they all loved it. 100% recommend!
We enjoyed ourselves. Definitely will come back. Sorry, no photos but we got Roti, crispy squid, drunken noodles and red curry.
Excellent food and prices. Great Vegan selection, 4 Vegan desserts too! Casual, chill atmosphere.
Wonderful local authentic Thai food. And I am pleased to say it was my first place to try thai food since.
Fantastic food and friendly staff. Love that place!!
Always love my experience every time I go there
First time here and the food was Fabulous! Loved the whole atmosphere.... Looking forward to going back!
This place is a hidden treasure and my favorite new addiction! Read ahead to learn why you NEED to check this place out!
Do you enjoy Thai cuisine? Then you will LOVE Thai Golden. It's been around for awhile, but I had never tried it until this past Saturday. We were all quite impressed - so much so for me that I can't wait to go again!
This place is fabulous for both Thai lovers and newcomers to the food genre. If you enjoy meat and/or seafood, you'll find lots of delectable fare to satisfy your palate. Vegetarians and vegans will also have many satisfying and tempting offerings from which to choose.
(On a related note regarding dietary restrictions, my only criticism is that their fryer has cross-contamination issues. The wait staff was kind enough to inform us of this. So if you are a strict vegan wanting to order, say, the fried tofu, but you don't wish to have your food cooked in the same fryer that handles meat/chicken/etc, that could be problematic. It's odd because there are tons of vegan/vegetarian offerings on the menu that are fried, but the issue I just mentioned may very well discourage vegans from ordering those items because of cross-contamination concerns. It really doesn't make sense and they should absolutely remedy this by having a vegan-only fryer. That is the sole reason for why I gave four stars instead of five! However, even with that small caveat, vegans and vegetarians who don't wish to risk cross-contamination will still have plenty of lovely dishes to choose from.)
Onto the fun parts: my favorite dishes! I ordered the fried veggie spring rolls to start. They were some of the best I have ever eaten and the sweet chili saucy accompanying them was a perfect addition. I'll add that the prices are quite reasonable here. While you don't get enormous amounts of food, you also don't need a magnifying glass to see your meal. And you won't go broke if you add on an appetizer or special cocktail (they have some good ones!) The portions are fair (some members of our party even had leftovers to enjoy for later) and the quality is great. One member of our group ordered the fried taro root, and I got to sample it. I loved it (I might just make a meal of several appetizers on my next visit). Those wanting something a little lighter should try the summer rolls. They are a more health-conscious choice brimming with herbs and flavorful vegetables.
The entrees are fabulous. I had the pad thai noodles and added mock duck (soy-based vegan "meat"). I'm not a vegan/vegetarian, but I often eat cuisine that is, so I was grateful for the option of "fake" meat. It was a savory, sweet, and satisfying meal. And for my drink, I enjoyed a chai bubble tea.
Finally, the dessert menus were passed around. Many of these are vegan or vegetarian-friendly and some are even raw. The menu included pictures that were tantalizingly pretty. I couldn't resist and opted for a berry-chocolate mouse cake. It was absolutely heavenly: incredible presentation and divine flavor.
Everything that I ordered that night, I would get again. And although you can pick up food to enjoy at home, I really liked the ambiance. The restaurant even has a shop area next to the dining space where you can buy luxury items like hand-milled soap, candles, and other cool stuff. Next time, I think I'll peruse and pick up some treats. That would be a fabulous way to cap off a nice meal.
In summation, I can't wait to go to this place again. I have a feeling it will become a favorite foodie haunt of mine. I look forward to introducing it to my family and friends who have not yet had the benefit of dining there. If any of this has sounded appealing to you, I strongly suggest you give them a shot!
PS Also worth noting was the service. Our servers were friendly, upbeat, attentive, informed, and enthusiastic about everything - especially the food. They clearly enjoyed working there and were obviously fans of the cuisine. This made the whole dining experience even better. I applaud them for their waiting skills and urge them to keep up the great work.
One of my favorite places to eat. Thankful they're only 20 mins away! Pad thai and Drunken Noodle are my comfort picks. Always having their thai iced tea with coconut milk, always sad when I finish it. 😞
I have gone here more than once and I will continue to go. The atmosphere is something you don't always find in Putnam County. It is peaceful, fun, and relaxing. All the staff there are so friendly and kind. The drinks for happy hour, bubble tea, and Thai Iced Tea all have amazing flavors, especially the Thai Sangria. The food has so many complimenting flavors that you would never think would go to together but they do: sweet and spicy. Their curry puffs are delicious, as well as the khao soi and ba mee. Thank you guys for always have above and beyond service and food! I wish I could give you more stars!!
My favorite spot in the area for Thai food. My most loved dishes are the red curry, pad Thai, the roti appetizer, any of the chicken wing varieties and the duck rolls. The bubble tea is always excellent. Bright, hip and cheery atmosphere with staff that is always attentive and friendly. I also love that the owners care about being a part of the community at large. I recommend this restaurant to everyone and think it’s one of the best in Carmel, which can be lacking in variety aside from pizzerias.
Buena comida en especial el padre thai
Great place to eat
Great place, great menu, very attentive and friendly service. Lots of good vegetarian options, including mock duck. The drunken noodles are phenomenal, super flavorful. Really nice and distinctive cocktails too. They have a cool little tea café and shop adjoining the restaurant. Recommend!
Quiet
Well served
Good service
Loved it. Delicious food, many choices, great prices. Will be back.
Went to get some bubble tea for the kids and myself. Everything was delicious.
Enjoyed my dinner, I had the Ba Mee special. Friendly staff.
A place to come back to.
Whatever
Excellent food, great service, highly recommended
By far the best Asian restaurant in many miles. Taste clean and fabulous
Overpriced garbage this place is either a hit or miss but you always walk away feeling a little screwed by something
Larb salad was yummy. They do spice level from 1-5. Outdoor seating was perfect.
Love this place! Super friendly, great food and nice outdoor seating across from the lake! Well done!
Delicious vegan options.
A little too expensive for my taste... But the food was good.
Great & fresh tasting food. They even serve gluten free meals as well. The bubble tea is highly recommended
I have been eating here for almost 4 years now when I was working in Carmel. I have switched jobs and am not in Carmel often so when I am traveling through I always order here to pick up on my way to my destination , however your closed restaurant from 3-4 is so inconvenient . And it was never a thing when I was working in the area when I first discovered the restaurant . I called to order , it was 250 , and was told I would have to pick up at 4 because they would be closed at 3 . I would have gotten there around 310 . I declined because I was traveling to CT and am not going to delay my trip an hour because you close your kitchen down. I understand this break may be to shift from lunch menu to dinner but many restaurants do this without shutting down their restaurants. There are many people that work 7-3 schedules and don’t want to wait an hour to pick up dinner. Your food is delicious , and I always thought it was the best in the area, but your schedule is really inconvenient for people working 7-3 or traveling through .
friendly atmosphere, great food. nice time and beautiful view of the lake if you sit by the window. must check out in putnam!!!!
Always great food! Very welcoming/friendly folks.
Look forward to my next visit.
You will never be disappointed. The food
Is always tasty, fresh and delicious. The best Thai restaurant in the area. The staff is always professional and friendly! You must try it!!
Good pad Thai and great drunken noodles
Delicious authentic Thai food, laid back , friendly staff
Great food, drinks and environment! Will definitely be going back!
Friendly staff, great food! Try the Thai Tea next time you go in
This is a lovely date night option. I would highly recommend pad thai! Love this place because the staff is always super friendly and it has a cute relaxing atmosphere.
Rai and the staff here make some of the best Taro Root chips and Boba. I’m all about the Boba. Drinks at the Bar! Adorable and good vibes all around. I’m waiting for the spice! Great now my mouth is drooling.
*** A MUST GO! *** DON’T LET THE ODD LOCATION DETER YOU!
Easily one of my all time favorite spots! So consistent; always fresh, flavorful and unique options despite the classic and traditional dishes. Sure you can come for the pad thai and peanut chicken (as neither disappoints) but don’t overlook the specials and less common dishes! I find something new to love every time I go. The waitstaff has always been super helpful with recommendations and suggestions for the latest and less known items. (How I became obsessed with the duck roti rolls, a must have!) Their ability to customize the spice intensity of nearly every individual dish makes it an easy dining experience for even the pickiest of eaters.
Just go, you’ll be SO glad you did!
Great food, great service, great atmosphere. 10/10 love this place.
Second time eating from here and it's even better than the first and that's saying a lot! Got the beef and chicken pad Thai and it's absolutely delicious! The beef noodle soup is amazing as well. Run, don't walk to this local restaurant with incredible Thai food. The owner Samantha is an absolute sweetheart too. 5 stars all the way. If you're looking for delicious, fresh authentic Thai food, look no further than Thai Golden!
Food outstanding drinks very good service the greatest
So good. World class. Down to earth. Will be back.
Love, love, love ThaiGolden. Sets new standards for a 5star review. This spot has it all and then some more!
Food first: amazing food and at the right price. I would honestly have paid more for my food.
Staff: amazing Funny and understanding staff. Owners are on point. Their connection to the community and their commitment to that community is key. Love seeing them on the right side and in the trenches with us. I will continue to support them as I know they support me. Making us safer is a huge deal in this area.
Location: beautiful spot, beautiful decor, beautiful views. Can't trade this for anything close.
Thank you for a wonderful dinner, can't wait to come back and enjoy a meal. Love Thai Golden and will certainly send others.
Thai Golden is wonderful - they have the best dumplings, spring rolls, and chicken satay! Always fresh, fast, and friendly...love this place!
Solid Thai place right here in Carmel.
Admittedly, I haven't visited this place as much as other restaurants in the area, but every time I have, the food was good, the prices were reasonable, and the staff was friendly, courteous, and attentive.
I'll update this in the future if I get more chances to visit.
I have started eating at Thai Golden more recently as I have started to open my taste to many different cultures foods. The food and drinks were prepared fast and has tasted delicious. But I wanted to write this review because Tuesday night I was served by a waitress that was very attentive and helpful to me, she was always asking if I needed anything for the table and was extremely helpful in finding me a meal I would enjoy which happened to be the Pad See Yew. She did an excellent job serving and I will definitely be eating here more often.
This is some of the best Thai food I've ever had. You can tell everything is made with love. Every employee I've interacted with has been so nice and welcoming. I can't say enough good things about this place.
Really nice staff, the food is quality and unique. They really make an effort to accommodate vegetarian as well. Ive enjoyed the past two visits, thanks!
The food here is A plus with an amazingly clean taste and the people who run the place are very nice.
Delicious go to when I am in the area. I love the spicy options and they make the food to taste. My favorite is the eggplant dish and to compliment the spicy drunken noodles. The service is friendly and timely. I recommend!
The best Thai food I’ve ever had. Stumbled across this place when my boyfriend and I were stumped on what and where we should get food from. This place stole my heart ever since I had my first bite and I also follow
them on Instagram as well. They post awesome content and sell some cool stuff at their restaurant as well. Highly recommend this spot to anyone and everyone because as I said it’s the best Thai food I’ve ever had. So fresh too ❤️
Excellent bubble tea and pad Thai. Will be returning.
Food was great, but the staff was a bit disorganized. Wasn't that bad overall though :)
The food here is top notch. The Garlic Stir Fry is to die for. The staff are always kind and friendly. Fantastic place to go.
Super friendly service and amazing food! I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. The pad Thai wings are amazing!
Go to this place regularly when in NY. Great food!
This restaurant is very very good. Their food is amazing and guess what is fresh. Try any of their soups with vegetables you will agree. I'm not vegan, but the nice thing is, for those who are, they do have vegan options cooked to how you like like. I would definitely go back to this restaurant.
Absolutely delicious. Pad Thai Chicken and shrimp is to die for. Cashew shrimp stir fry is amazing. The Singha beer is crisp and refreshing. I can't say enough about this restaurant. Beautiful view of the lake. Very friendly attentive staff. I wish there were more stars. It's a definite 10.
My favorite Thai restaurant EVER!! You won’t be disappointed ordering anything on their menu! My favorite orders are the drunken noodles and mango curry. The Thai iced tea is a must too! Overall, the ambiance and customer service is great and the food is amazing!!
This place is so good I love everything on the menu. Get a big ol bubble tea and you won’t be disappointed!
Come from the Bronx to visit family and come to visit here each time!
Love this place! Food is so good and the workers are amazing!
Best place around. Great food, great people.
Very good put you try to help the kids when did make a mistake and they really talk to you back and don't really want to do it when they drop stuff on the floor to pick it up and put in the counter when it should be in the garbage
Very very good food
Love this place!!!
This place is excellent!!! We started going here for lunch lately and everything the staff is always super friendly and the food is always delicious!!!
I would definitely recommend trying it out.
I ordered their chicken pad thai and fried veggie spring rolls. I absolutely loved both dishes and the service was great! So easy to order online and it was ready to pickup within 20 minutes. Definitely will order again!
The food there is so good! We got the dumplings, samosas and chicken potato curry puffs. The flavor in all is amazing. Not to mention the boba is amazing and definitely worth the trip
I absolutely love this place! While their food is absolutely delicious (and addicting I might add), I just wish they had a delivery service of some kind - either their own, GrubHub or Door Dash. I only have 30 minutes for lunch during my work day but if they offered to have someone bring it to me, I'd certainly be ordering from this establishment more often.
Literally my favorite thai place ever!! Amazing service, amazing food, and can we talk about the rawesome deserts?! This place gets all the stars.
Love this place- as good as any Thai food I've had. The Thai wings and the green curry are my favorite. The service is great and everyone who work's there is very nice.
I always have an incredible experience every time I go here! They always make accommodations for me for my vegan diet. I definitely recommend coming here!
This is my favorite thai restaurant!
I’ve been going to Thai Golden for years now. It started when they began doing their open mic nights. Amazing food & drinks. Amazing customer service as well. My favorites here are the chicken pad thai, shrimp pad see yew, chicken satay, taro root, and of course - boba!! It’s definitely a must try 🖤🖤
Friendly, safe, and very down to support minority and woman owned businesses. Great merchandise and food 💪🏽🤤👏🏽
