Took me awhile to find this place because it's not exactly on Broadway but on the corner so it's fairly easy to miss if you're not aware of the location. Other than that, this place is sublime. A tad on the small side but I dig the theme of the restaurant for it gives off an authentic Thai feel.

The server was very courteous and kind which made ordering a pleasant experience. All of the dishes are very reminiscent of whenever I go to Hainan Jones for lunch because the menu is very similar to that. I ordered the Roasted chicken with rice, dumplings and Iced Tea. Their Iced Tea is an unusual but interesting beverage. It's your standard Iced Tea but mixed with milk, at first I was thrown off a bit like "Who mixes Iced Tea with milk?" But when I took a sip, it was surprisingly good, it was enjoyable. The main dish and the side were oh so tasty and filling, it definitely hit the spot. Some stuff on the menu were more pricier than others but worth it nonetheless. I totally recommend this hole in the wall spot with excellent cuisine.

I just moved to Astoria and this was the first place I decided to eat at and it did not disappoint. Yummy food! Thanks for the warm welcome to the neighborhood!

Diner Review №9

Super flavorful meal! The chicken is so juicy and crispy, the curry rice is also very delicious. The soup and side salad is a nice addition on a cold day.
Fast service and attentive staff.

Diner Review №10

It was alright!

Diner Review №11

The food and portion sizes were fantastic! One of the tastier fried chickens I’ve had in NYC

Diner Review №12

Small shop with a few tables for dine in, but stopped by for a quick lunch. Really great food, I got the cutlet and it came with a small salad and soup. Amazing service! Definitely recommend to anyone in the area

Diner Review №18

i have been their customer for a while and been ordered too many times but last time was the nightmare! dont get me wrong i really love their food but last time was making change my mind. they messed up my order. i ordered Khao mun kai but i have received Khao mun kai tod. that was really pissed me off. i ordered around 7-8pm but got eaten at 10pm i could not reach out to let them know that i have received incorrect items and not done yet i have not received the sauce for Khao mok kai ouuhhhhh what should i eat with it? obviously Khao mun kai on the ticket. can u tell me its Khao mun kai for you? *so disappointed *

Diner Review №19

Worst place to eat in. Nasty service and bad staff and bonus the chicken was served uncooked. Unprofessional staff and bad vibes. Asked for an extra plate the waitress and the cook had an attitude. They looked down on us because we were young and Asian. They only treat white people well. This place is the worst sorry to give you this review but the boss should fire the staff or retrain them to serve customers with some respect. We work hard and give you business but in return you give us disrespect and bad attitude. Please retrain your staff!!!!!

Diner Review №20

We asked for paper plate and red chilly and the girl in the back didn’t wanna give. I don’t know why she had an attitude. We paid 47$ and didn’t eat.

Diner Review №21

Amazing chicken dinners. The staff was very accommodating considering 10 of us descended on their establishment. We didn’t have to wait long and all of it was delicious. Generous serving sizes.

Diner Review №22

My husband and I ordered delivery. I got The roasted Khao Man Gai Yang and my husband got Tom yum noodle soup. The chicken tasted amazing! Portions were generous, food was great. I have celiac and they were very helpful in answering questions when I called them.

I am editing my review because on the phone I was told that the roasted chicken had no soy sauce. A day after eating their food, I started experiencing symptoms but didn’t realize it was their food since I had explicitly asked for gluten free and been told the food I was ordering was gluten free. Last night we went to eat at the restaurant and when I asked about gluten free options, they said all their food has soy sauce. If you have celiac, please be wary.

Diner Review №23

I’m absolutely will be a frequent customer here. Authentic hainanese, flavorful and fresh ingredients. Excellent food handling and packaging. You guys are the best.

Diner Review №24

Legit Thai. Great Thai tea. Amazingly well cooked chicken, flavorful ginger rice, and a side salad and soup to balance things out. Can't wait to go back.

Diner Review №25

Best fried chicken! Quick service and delicious food.

Diner Review №26

GREAT AND SIMPLE KHAO MAN GAI

Diner Review №27

I recently had a delightful lunch at Chick It Out Thai Restaurant and I couldn't be more satisfied! I indulged in “The Original” Khaomangai lunch, paired with Steamed Dumplings, and topped it off with a refreshing Thai Iced Tea. Each dish was a testament to the chef’s skill and dedication to authentic Thai flavors.

The Khaomangai was a perfect balance of tender chicken and savory rice, complemented by a zesty sauce that left me craving more. The Steamed Dumplings were a delight, with a delicate wrapper and flavorful filling that melted in my mouth. And the Thai Iced Tea was the perfect sweet and creamy finish to my meal.

Chick It Out Thai Restaurant is featured in LaListe, and once again, LaListe proves to be spot on with its recommendations. Whether you're a fan of Thai cuisine or new to it, this spot is a must-visit. The food is outstanding, the service is warm and welcoming, and the overall experience is one to remember.

Diner Review №28

The place is so cute and cozy! The food is really good but my favorite dishes were the chicken dumplings, chicken puffs, the spicy chicken rice!

Diner Review №29

Penny is amazing. I always love the food here. Get the grilled chicken and thank me later!

Diner Review №30

I had such a nice night at this place! I love the food and the people were really nice too! Highly recommended it! I love it

Diner Review №31

what a cute and homey place! i got the chicken over rice and wow the sauce was so gooodddd and the portion was so large! this is for sure a place i will visit again!

Diner Review №32

Yummmmmm! Had "the noodle" and it was delicious. I ate it with a fork in one hand and chopsticks in the other.

Diner Review №33

Absolutely loved the Thai-style Hainanese chicken here! The dish was flavorful, tender, and perfectly balanced. The ambiance of the restaurant was just as impressive – warm, inviting, and beautifully decorated. It made for a relaxing and enjoyable dining experience. Highly recommend for both the food and the atmosphere! Let’s Chick It Out! 🐥

Diner Review №34

This place is too delicious. I have to deliberately walk on a different street so that I don’t pass it. Otherwise I will inevitably go inside and order their incredible food that is ready within minutes at a fair price! Can’t wait to go back. I want to try everything they make.

Diner Review №35

Not a great eat in type of place. The chicken was delicious! And everything tasted fresh.

Diner Review №36

I love fried chicken. I'm on a mission to find great fried chicken around NYC.

This spot that only makes chicken dishes .

They have about 10 or 11 types, and their fried chicken is no joke! Look at the size of this!! They are huge!

It's sliced and served along with your option of rice( ginger or tumeric rice), miso soup, salad and sweet chili sauce to dip.

The bird is marinated overnight in a soy sauce and then dredged in seaosned AP flour and fried.

The recipe is simple, and the quality of the fresh chicken brings out the great flavors. Juicy and moist

It's crunchy, moist, tender and fresh
Toy, who heads the kitchen, said it's made with love, and that adds flavor. 🙂

The folks here were fun and friendly. They were very cute and anxiously waited to see what I thought of their chicken. Toy, Noy and Ally were really sweet people.

There was a steady stream of regulars when I was there.

Washed it down with Nom Yen a sweet creamy Thai drink. So good, took one home.

Check out Chick It Out, try one of their 10 different chicken dishes and this fried bird.

Diner Review №37

As somebody who’s been to Thailand this hainanese chicken Isn’t authentic at all if you’re somebody who’s went to Thailand and craving that when you got back to America, you will be disappointed. The workers are extremely nice but I’m just being honest and it doesn’t come with a soup. And it’s supposed to

Diner Review №38

This place is a if you know you know! I normally don’t eat hainanese style chicken but when I saw the many ways they prepared it.. I was hooked! I got “The Cutlet”, which is chicken thighs fried and placed on a delicious hot bed of ginger rice. My mom got the “Khao Mok Gai” which uses curry tumeric rice. For starters we got the dumplings and curry puffs.

You also get soup and salad included with the meal. For drinks we got Milo and Thai ice tea. The drinks are only $4 each! This spot seems very popular for take out or to go orders but they had around 3-4 tables for dining in.

The food arrived quick and the server was nice! I now have a favorite spot to get chicken!

Diner Review №44

Easy one of the best thai spots in astoria. They specialize in chicken and rice. We got the combo so you could choose two options for the chicken. I got cutlet and roasted and it did not disappoint. We ended the meal with a mango sticky rice and loved how it wasn’t too sweet.

Diner Review №45

I’ve eaten here a few times and it tastes good, but I must share that I got very bad food poisoning from one batch of chicken rice — and a friend got similarly terrible food poisoning from a curry puff (and we both have strong stomachs!) — so please review those food safety practices 🙏🏽

Diner Review №51

Really enjoyed the food and experience here! Gosh the flavors were bursting and Thai food in Queens is definitely a hit and it's a great price. I really enjoyed the Dumplings and crispy chicken with rice meal. Check out our video on Instagram @jadaexploresall! I'll definitely be returning! YOU MUST TRY THEIR DESERT AS WELL!

Diner Review №56

I now have forever, unforgettable, delicious memories from Chick it Out!
Upon arrival the hospitality is impeccable. Even though there was a little bit of a language barrier, the staff member explained everything so perfectly & even gave me recommendations! I opted for a Lychee Iced Thai Tea which was medicinal & healing in flavor, not what I expected but I appreciated it for the culture but that DANG Soda was amazing, literally! Sweet, Cold & Quenching! I got the Chick it Out Dumplings which were stuffed & brimming. The sauce for the dumplings was SOO Good I had to drench each dumpling I devoured in it. I got the Combo Khao Man Gai which was incredible! The sauces really make the dish. That Ginger-Soy Sauce was drinkably good! A little texture to it an it absorbed into that poach chicken with ease! Sweet Chili is a given that it’ll be good as it hugged the fried chicken cutlet upon delivery to your mouth as it exploded with flavor! Closing off with dessert we got the WARM Coconut Pudding & it was small, petite & full of comforting flavor. Oily, slightly sweeten & naturally coconut-y. The food is served in a paper plate so easy cleanup, dessert in cute little dishes in plastic containers to go & complimentary daikon soup & salad. I truly enjoyed the tangy & sour-y taste in my dish & overload of onions in the special Khao Man Gai with spicy chili lime sauce! Definitely a hole a wall worth being discovered!

Diner Review №57

Amazing food! I enjoyed everything that I ordered! The chicken curry puffs were incredible and the Guay Tiew Gai was to die for

Diner Review №58

The chicken is really good. I got a combo so I had plenty of sides, curry rice, soup and salad. Also had dumplings and curry cuff. I'm a 'Way' bigger fan of the dumplings.

Diner Review №59

Delicious!

Diner Review №60

If you’re looking for affordable places to eat and want to delicious food, this is your place to go in New York City Astoria. We started off with two drinks. Thai iced tea and lychee iced tea, and the drinks were really good. Then for main course we got. KHAO MOK GAI and spicy chicken rice. It came with complementary salad and soup. When I tell you the flavors and the texture of the chicken was out of this world, it was so good. For dessert we took mango sticky rice and that did not disappoint at all. It was the perfect way to end the dinner. I definitely definitely recommend this place go check it out. I did a whole review on it on TikTok (TaniShush) and Instagram (bengali_grande). Go check it out if you want more in-depth review.

Diner Review №77

Great price for what you get. I don't live around this area, and was just here to get the original chicken combo; but the fried chicken (see picture) looked really good, and I think it might be worth another trip back to try! The combo came with salad and soup as well that are not pictured - all very good.

Diner Review №78

Being one who loves chicken rice, I wanted to like this place but…

1) food: ordered original and chicken 2 way (mix of roast and fried). Very very generous portions (in fact way too big a cut compared to regular Khao Man Gai) but that’s about it. There’s some serious lack of seasoning in all of the chicken, with the roast one being slightly better than the other 2. The batter of the fried chicken was hard so I had to forgo the supposedly crispy skin. The soup tasted like nothing. The rice was somewhat fragrant but the texture was inconsistent (ie both portions had some hard rice). The nice part is that a salad also comes with the big meal. The Thai Iced Tea was normal.
2) utensils: complete use of single used plates and utensils and everything - see pic. While I truly understand that there’s labor concerns around dish washing, too much plastic/single use items is just a no-no.
3) THE PRICE YOU SEE IS CASH PRICE AND THEY CHARGE YOU EXTRA 4% when you pay by card, WITHOUT TELLING YOU!! I get that many stores provide incentives for paying by cash, but this is just outright dishonest and for that (and the below subpar food), I’m never coming back again.

Honestly there are a lot more other good khao man gai all over NYC.

Diner Review №79

Cute little shop with really tasty food. I got the fried chicken cutlet and it's so crunchy and flavorful. The store only has 3 tables, so I'd probably get it to go or come with only one other person.

Diner Review №80

Best lunch in Astoria

Diner Review №81

Absolutely delicious, affordable and great portions for the price and the Astoria location. The meals all come with soup and salad, too. My takeout order came out swiftly and packed very nicely. Just bring cash if you want to save a bit. Will be coming back.

Diner Review №82

For $14, got vegetable soup, egg noodles in a satay like sauce, fish balls, braised Hainan chicken, vegetable salad, and Thai iced tea. You get extreme value and phenomenal food! Ordered online for pickup and food ready in less than 10 minutes. Staff is super friendly. Huge portions. Had to save half for later.

They have a few tables, but do mostly takeout and delivery.

Can't wait to go back!

Diner Review №88

Diner Review №89

Food was incredible with a pretty generous serving. We ordered the original Khao man gai and the Roasted one-amazing flavors in your palate, and the mango sticky rice is one of the best.
Definitely coming back!!!

Diner Review №90

Perfect takeout spot! Great hainanese chicken

Diner Review №91

Ordered from here a few months back and it was great. Had it yesterday and now I’m suffering with food poisoning. Such a bummer.

Diner Review №92

Love this place! Was so pleasantly surprised to find this in Astoria. I've been craving this dish instead of the usual Thai restaurant entrees and this just feels so cozy.

Diner Review №93

Their Khao Man Gai is out of this wold! The young man that works there is a lovely lad who has both passion and skill. I recommend this place for both lunch and dinner and hope to go back to try the noodle bowl. Thank you so much you made my night!

Diner Review №94

Diner Review №95

Fantastic, cute and delish food. The mango sticky rice was heavenly and the best I’ve had in a long time. I also loved the soup and salad that come included with each meal. Crispy chicken with ginger rice is amazing. You know when places have just a few dishes they focus on, that they are going to do them VERY well. That's what you get here: a perfected recipe, of a dish that's appealing to everyone. The staff was really friendly too, with a fast pickup time. I will be a repeat customer thank you so much!

Diner Review №105

Great khao mun gain and kha mun gai tod. They give good portions and the chicken is flavorful.

I would suggest if you are getting the fried option to either eat-in or maybe ask them not to cut it and package it separately than the rice. Otherwise it will get soggy for sure.

Diner Review №106

Diner Review №107

Had "The Classic" and the Tom Yum noodle soup. Wasn't sure what to expect but they were both delicious. Soup was tangy and spicy! Will definitely be back for more

Diner Review №108

Excellent spot for Heinan style chicken rices. Very affordable and filling. Came here for lunch with a friend and got the Khao Man Gai salad and Lychee Thai Tea. Both amazing and priced just right. Place is small has maybe room for 10 people. Very cute decor and friendly staff. Definitely coming back as a regular.

Diner Review №109

Very good Thai chicken, simple but very tasty, the place may look very down to earth but the quality of the food is just very very good

Diner Review №110

This place serves Hainanese chicken, one of the most popular street food-style dishes in Thailand. The interior is small with only 4 to 5 tables, but it's very clean, colorful, and modern. I've ordered takeout a few times, trying "The Original Khao Man Gai" (slow-poached chicken over ginger rice) for $12.95, "The Cutlet Khao Man Gai Tod" (crispy boneless fried chicken over ginger rice) for $13.95, and Khao Mok Gai (grill-marinated chicken with turmeric on savory curry rice) for $12.95. The portions were generous, and each order came with soup, salad, and sauce. I especially enjoyed their crispy boneless fried chicken, which was incredibly crispy and delicious. Their various sauces, such as ginger garlic and sweet-sour, were also quite addictive. The Thai iced coffee was a delightful addition as well. I plan to explore their entire menu—it's highly recommended!

Diner Review №111

Service is horrendous! the woman that works at Chick it out in the morning/afternoon has a lack of customer service skills. She mentioned that i never order there when i had proof that I did. I had to go back to the restaurant and mentioned that I ordered it through the clover app. After proving that I was right not even a sorry from her for wasting my time. This place is actually expensive for what it is -- steamed chicken, and to be getting this level of service at this price point is laughable... Pretty sure place would go down hill if she is at the helm taking the orders.

Diner Review №112

Aroi mak - delicious.

Diner Review №113

I’ve ordered twice from Chick It Out and I’ve been pleased with my orders on both occasions.

Order:
The Roasted Khao Man Gai Yang: Comes with a side of salad and soup. The rice is a bit undercooked, but the meat is juicy. The portion size is nice, especially for the price.

Chick It Out Dumplings: The texture of the dumpling filling reminds me of a meat loaf. If that’s not a texture you like, you might want to try something else.

Thai Iced Tea: The tea is a little too sweet for my liking, but if you have a sweet tooth then it’s a good choice of beverage.

Diner Review №114

Chick It Out is a hidden gem tucked away behind Highwater. They've got a couple tables for dining in, but this is more of a to go place. I'd recommend a Chicken Curry Puff and a Thai Iced Coffee. Everything I've had is solid, but those Curry Puffs are really the sleeper hit for me.

My partner and I have ordered from here multiple times. Finally leaving a review because they always are consistent with the quality of their chicken. It’s always our go to spot for a healthy and hearty meal! They also give a good portion of chicken and love that they have a 2 way option for you to try two different types of chicken. My favorite is the fried chicken and the roasted!

Diner Review №132

Solid meals, go for the fried and grilled chicken with rice and their sauces!! Delicious

Diner Review №133

Incredible! The Combo set is a great way to try to various styles of chicken. Wash each bite down with the clear soup perfectly balances the chicken and rice flavors.

Also try the Mango & lychee Thai tea 🐔🍚

Diner Review №135

Diner Review №136

Chicken served a hand full of ways. I wouldn’t say that this place totally blew my mind, maybe I need to order a few different things. The curry puffs were filled well and amazing, I just wish it came with a cucumber dipping sauce.

Diner Review №137

This place is solid. The menu isn't super extensive, but the chicken is legitimately good. I finally tried their food a couple weeks ago and have ordered again twice since. Their portions are filling, and the staff is very friendly as well.

Diner Review №138

Diner Review №139

The tastes are not constant. Sometimes good sometimes bad. For example, today I just ordered again same like always. The grill chicken was ok but not great like last time, the daikon soup tastes literally like water. The texture of the Ginger rice doesn’t taste like it used to be. Kinda disappointed.

Diner Review №140

No frills place that serves generous portions of roast chicken. The only downside is that there seems to be exxcessive plastic usage even as we sat down to eat

Diner Review №141

I don’t normally write reviews but the guy who owns this place was so nice, the portions were so generous for the price, and the chicken was great— it’s such a good option for the neighborhood! Support this business!

This place is super good! I recommend the original with lime Thai ice tea. The people there are also super nice 😊

Diner Review №144

The portions here are big; each plate comes with a small salad and cup of delicious chicken broth. The poached chicken was good and the fried chicken was better. Service was friendly.

Diner Review №145

So happy to have finally tried this place, and to finally find delicious chicken rice in NY! Portions are very generous, and I’ll definitely be back to try more. :)

Diner Review №146

Decided to try this place out after seeing one of my fave food bloggers raving about this place. Normally l am indecisive but i did not hesitate to order from here. The food was delicious; especially the crispy chicken. I got the combo chicken delivered that came with bone broth, salad, and good portion of chicken and rice. Amazing price foe the portion. My only grievance was that we did not get the special thick sauce (can’t remember the name), but despite it i am definitely looking forward to trying them again, in person this time.

Diner Review №147

With ginger rice but rice is no taste ginger, rice taste is basic regular white rice.

Diner Review №148

First time eating thai chicken in NY. This place is sooo good. The chicken broth soup with what I now know is daikon(a sort of raddish), superb. The thai coffee, strong, like I like my coffee.

Diner Review №149

The "no frills" experience without going to Thailand! They got chicken. Vegetarian? Don't come here. Want pork instead? Wrong place. Like how cute chickens are? Avoid. The simplicity of the menu is amazing. Once you decided on what you are eating, you must decide between roasted, fried or poached. That's really it. No other decisions to make. This place is awesome. I had chicken 2 ways. Neither was really better than the other. I was proud of myself for getting both. Generous portions and real chicken soup, not that garbage bottled stuff!

Diner Review №150

I did pick up takeout, was super fast. Takeout came with soup and salad, and rice has a nice ginger kick to it.

Diner Review №151

Delicious food and friendly staff.

Diner Review №152

Food is cheap but not very high quality. The chicken just tasted like it wasn't good anymore.

The egg noodle with grilled chicken ♥️ turmeric chicken with yellow rice are very well seasoned ! Will visit again !! Nice cute place !

Wow what amazing sauce, chicken and rice dishes! You walk in and the place is tiny with a modern look and pretty elephant mural on the yellow walls.

They have fun unique ice tea options. My buddy and I came here for lunch we started off with the miso soup and some salad. The miso was yummy, broth had great flavor and the salad was a nice little healthy quick bite. We got the combo chicken meals the fried chicken and wanted to try the poached chicken because it’s something new. The poached chicken was kind like a boiled chicken it was on but I liked the fried way more.

The sauces are what put this meal together the ginger garlic sauce and sweet sauce were some of the best sauces over ever had. The service was amazing and portions a generous size. I want to try the mango sticky rice next time!

This place is amazing! The mango sticky rice, the 3 types of chicken, and the taro bun were each legitimately out of this world! I haven't had anything that disappointed. They have different sauces to pair with the 3 types of chicken and it's perfect. I love the fact that it's neighborhood people that run the restaurant with roots in Astoria!

Extremely friendly. Food was tasty with generous portions. I ordered the dumplings and the fried chicken. The chicken was moist and crunchy!

Highly recommend!!!! I get the half fried and poached chicken over rice... comes with small salad and chicken soup/broth (reminds me if my moms soup) I also always order a pink drink

This place is truly a gem, with one of the best (if not the best!) chicken rices in the city. Everything was so delicious and well prepared, from the soup (which I normally don’t drink) to the chicken and the Thai iced tea. Outstanding!
