Small, humble spot featuring Japanese, Thai & Laotian fare, plus a tiny sushi bar.
My son and I tried this place out for the first time. Family owned and operated. Dad is the sushi chef. Food was awesome. We ordered the large sashimi boat. His daughter thought we may have ordered too much. We laughed and then ate it all. Would highly recommend everyone to stop in and try.
Best sushi restaurant in Albuquerque, if not the best I have been to in the country! The rolls are excellent and easily a meal in themselves. Also, the pad thai and pretty much everything on the menu is excellent! It's is a family owned and operated restaurant. They are amazing people, and quality is always top-notch like their service! I have been going here for over a decade, and it has never disappointed, just been great! I would give more stars if I could!!!
It's a small dining area, but it's very pleasant and friendly. The food was tasty; it was delicious. Their sauce was a little bit salty, more like a teriyaki sauce. The waiter was very pleasant; she answered all the questions that were asked about certain food items. We didn't have to wait long to be served.
I can say enough about how great this place is. The staff is amazing, and it's the best place in town to get sushi that is gluten-free/friendly. We love this place, best sushi in town!
The softshell crab appetizer was amazing and surprised us. It was a big bowl with a lot of crab and cucumbers, rather than just the crab and some sauce like most places. We enjoyed that more than the rest of the meal, it was a beautiful presentation and could have been a small meal for one person.
Service was slow, a bit disappointing after reading all of the reviews. Maybe she was having an off day, there was only one other party there, but it took a while to be approached.
This place is AMAZING! Locally owned restaurant that has a huge selection to choose from. I usually get sushi and squid salad here, but they have Pad Thai, beef fried rice, stir fry, pho, and curry. They have a Thai tea that is the BEST in town. Everything you try is really good, with very large portions. Owners are there daily, this restaurant is a must try! Highly recommended!!!
Friendly staff, wonderful food!

My favorite place for sushi in Albuquerque. Great Japanese, Thai, and Laotian food! And the people are awesome.

Chicken teriyaki was perfect
Drunken noodles and pad thai were both excellent. Sushi rolls were fresh and very delicious. Highly recommended. One of our favorite "hole in the wall" restaurants in the Abq!
Haven't tried the food yet but they're so nice and amazing I blew my tire and they let me sit inside waiting for the tow truck. 10/10 recommend it also smells divine
Super nice staff <3 very amazing!!
The sushi was great, try the monster roll! It really was huge with nice pieces of sushi on top that were basically like sashimi. Massaman curry had great flavor, little rich but that is nice with sushi, potatoes cooked perfect, and presented nice with lots of sprinkled peanut crumbs. Server was patient and accomodating with our toddler. It was the middle of the week, but very relaxed atmosphere. Will go again.
The food is amazing! This place never disappoints. Family owned, fresh ingredients, attentive service. I’ve been coming to eat here for years and will always come back.
Food was good but 2 of us got mild food poisoning. Service was not the best but sever charged us 20% gratuity for having part of 5 and a baby that isn't even old enough to sit in a high chair. And it was so hot in there until the sun went down. Very disappointed for it being the visit since I've heard great things about this place. Probably won't be going back unfortunately.
Ok nothing to rave about
Absolutely amazing food. I had the Panang curry with chicken, my wife had tuna sashimi and our son had a caterpillar roll. We also shared a gyoza and a sushi combo.
Food is amazing and the family is wonderful hosts. We have tried others but this is the best for us
Excellent sushi and service. Yum!
Very good food. Got the combo D and soft shell crab. The miso soup is very authentic.
The service was nice and quick. I recommend ordering simple sushi here, because the salmon sashimi was good, but the fancy rolls are so Americanized and slathered w/ sauce. The Monster roll sounded good but it was a huge mess/mistake dripping w/ what looked like Thousand Island. The portions were good, but the rolls just all seemed to taste the same which to me is sad and not the point of sushi.
Love this little place! I come here all the time especially on special occasions like my birthday! My favorite is the volcano roll! My partner like their sunrise roll.
This is my fave sushi spot! I like to get sushi combo b with a salmon hand roll and Thai tea
Varied menu with lots of intriguing options in addition to familiar fare. Reasonable prices and generous portions. We tried several appetizers and entrees and enjoyed them all. Looking forward to returning!
Been searching for good sushi in Albuquerque for awhile and finally found it. Prices are fair and the food is good.
Great sushi, looking to come back and try some other menu items in the future!
Sakura Sushi also serves Lao and Thai foods. Pad Thai, Pho, Lao sausage, and many more are on their menu. We had ate their sushi rolls and Lao sausage with Jasmine rice. All great! I highly recommend this restaurant.
Great food with average prices. They appeared to be under staffed as there was no one at the door to seat us. Our waitress, with whom we were very pleased, was very busy and looked like she was the only wait staff for both sides of the restaurant. we felt bad for her and tipped her nicely to let her know that we recognized the extra effort she put forth, to ensure all patrons enjoyed their meals as well as the environment, as busy and stressful, that it was.
Overall...good experience and we will go back if ever in the area again.
It is a family favorite and the best place for Sushi in the Duke City
I have been going here for many, many years. The food is always consistent good. The people who own and operate are rotally delightful. I do recommend it to anyone. Even picky eaters like my daughter.
The food is incredible. He is very skilled at what he does and very creative in his rolls. Very friendly and this is my go-to sushi place. And the soups and the other dinners are just as good. They have a great selection and great people
I've been going to Sakura Sushi for years. I love everything about my experience. I love the variety of food, and the quality of sushi is fantastic.
Yum
My absolute favorite local Asian restaurant. Great sushi and great everything else. I crave their Pad Thai regularly. They give you a 10% discount for paying in cash too. The only knock is that the restaurant could use a bit of renovation, but that's a nitpick.
The service and food are wonderful.
Visiting from Dallas and we were blown away by the Massaman Curry's depth of flavor.
Good food and friendly. Nothing fancy but. Not expensive either. Recommend.
I mistakenly went to this restaurant thinking it was related to the Sakura up on Coors. It's is absolutely NOT. It's a hole in the wall sushi place and the people who run it seem to be genuinely trying to giving great service. They were quite nice, but I'll never get take out from this place again, though I might eat in with great reservation. We ordered 4 rolls, 2 nigiri and 2 appetizers. The packing of the rolls was hap hazard at best. But I popped them into my fridge bag with ice packs, tucked them soundly into the front seat of my car and scooted back home. When I got home I found that the person who made a roll just improvised and put a ton of some mayo sauce on my roll. Mayo always upsets my stomach, always. I know Americans and Europeans use a ton of mayo on their rolls so I'm extra careful about what I order. I personally got the Yellow Fellow and the Thank You Roll, neither of which is supposed to have mayo. I don't know what the second roll I received was but it wasn't the Yellow Fellow I ordered. The rolls were large but not particularly well formed. Every roll piece was literally falling apart as we were eating them, some fell apart on they drive home (I'm not a person who whips about and this is unlike other sushi restaurants that I've ordered takeout from previously). They seem to be produced by a novice. The quality of the nigiri was fine so the fish was good, but those rolls were a whole mess. My husbands gyoza was slightly over done but also not very flavorful. The seaweed salad was good but fairly standard. My husband said his rolls were just fine, not good just fine. For almost $100, plus a tip, we expected way better. Very disappointing. Not sure how they got so many good reviews, unless those people were focused strictly on portion size.
Very nice even where kind when I ask for a custom roll highly recommend this place
Amazing food, great service.
Lovely food and friendly staff!
This is some of the best sushi in town! The service is great and it seems like you get more bang for your buck than most other sushi restaurants in town. I love how they start your meal off with tofu soup and give you chocolate fortune cookies after your meal. They also have a bowl with candy that you can get a few pieces from when leaving the restaurant. All in all, I have to say that it’s one of my most favorite sushi restaurants in Albuquerque and I highly recommend it!
I had not been here for a long time because I moved to far to pick up.I gave it a try tonight again and it is just as good as I remember . Very friendly staff and great food.
Best sushi chef in town! They have a hug menu for all you sushi needs. Also a wonderful variety of other dishes/entrees to choose from. I personally love their monkey ball appetizer. I’ve tried several of their rices dishes & have never been disappointed. Small local business but weather you sit and eat or do take out it’s worth it.
Best sushi around in ABQ, all most reminds me when i lived in Tokyo . Highly recommend!
I've been to about 6 sushi restaurants in ABQ and this is by FAR the best. I moved here from Florida so I have been spoiled with seafood. I typically get the rainbow or Las Vegas roll, and other places in town are bland, understandably because we are in a desert. Here, the raw fish just melts in your mouth. It tastes so fresh and wonderful. Other places also don't vinegarize their rice like they should for sushi, and this place does. It is delectable! If you are snobby about sushi, this is your spot!!!
Not the awesome atmosphere for a 'date', but among the best Service and Sushi in the city.
Uploaded most recent menu. I enjoy the food, large rolls, and good service. I have never had a baked roll until coming here!
Wow hidden gem. This place has the best pho and spring rolls I've ever had. More than just sushi!
Was just great. Took all the kids in with us, and they were really good about it. Service was great, sushi was amazing, and process were good.
Yummy food! Great environment! Best Pad Thai!
Huge portions... Should have ordered less! Can't wait to go back. ♥️
Soooooooo delish. Probably the best sushi in Albuquerque. The first time I came here was 15 years ago and it was the best then; came back not knowing what to expect, still the beat sushi in Albuquerque! Definitely recommend
Decent service and good prices. Sushi tasted good and there were interesting flavor combinations.
Tried the “Pad Voon Sen”. Perfect. Cozy place. Will return.
BEST food in the city, not just sushi but overall. I'd go every day if I could, honestly.
Insanely free sushi. Absurdly low prices. My new #1
Great sushi, exceptional service, total zen-vironment.👍👍👍👍🙏
Take your honey there tomorrow and score major points.
They rock!!🍱💫🫶
The food was stellar, even better than my neighborhood sushi place. However, the floor was sticky and the place just felt very cramped.
I will be back though
My family and I have been ordering from here for a couple of years now, and Sakura sushi has never once let us down. The food is dependably impeccable and the service is always on point and kind. I
Very good! The Sakura sushi was super tasty along with the sauce on the side makes it 100% better! Waitress was super nice and so was the man behind the counter making the sushi. 10/10 would come again :)
I've been here many times, mostly during covid when they were running a tight ship. The sushi has always been very good here, but I feel the restaurant itself is falling into a state of disrepair. Sticky tables, gross buildup on the soy sauce, dusty ceiling tiles, and dirt and grime in all the corners. I'm not usually super picky when it comes to restaurant cleanliness but I feel this one needs some TLC. It's hard to keep your appetite for raw fish when the atmosphere is so poor.
Sushi was great and affordable!
UPDATE: We went to eat dinner tonight 7/1/2022. It was 6:30 pm, with covid still in the forefront of the world they had adjusted business hours. I am SO VERY THANKFUL for everyone here it was after 8pm that we received our meal and we weren't rushed out because they had closed. Again I am sorry to keep you over your scheduled hours of operation but I thank you for still serving us on a popular Friday holiday weekend 😀
SUSHI is always on point. You can never go wrong with the crazy roll. This is a family favorite spot to stop. We love it here
Great food!
Loved their sushi!
The BEST place for all things sushi! Cozy place with excellent service!
Great food
Excellent food
Was searching for good sushi in ABQ, but with no luck. Then I tried takeout at this place. The sushi was very fresh and tasty. I had yellowtail, tuna, salmon, shrimp and scallop.
The only thing I would say slightly negative (and it's not really a negative) is the slices of sushi are fat. I prefer it sliced thin. Still very good. Will go back!
Also bought the panang curry and laab to be eaten later!
For a store front without fancy ambiance, among the best sushi in town
(& my favorite).
This place is great. The tempura are amazing, there is more than one item on the menu with green Chile, and the tastes are fantastic.
Great food and service!
I love this place. The sashimi pieces are huge and the the curry is delicious. Everything is reasonably priced. I eat here like 2 times a week at least. You couldn't pay me to get sushi or sashimi anywhere else.
This has become our sushi stop!
Nice place. A hole in the wall nice place. Blink and you will miss it like I have for over 10 years. One thing I will mention is that while the food is delicious and service is amazing, you need a flashlight to find the bathroom down the hallway. So when you get the urge to eat a delicious sushi roll, come equipped with a charged flashlight or night vision goggles.
We ordered comb B and C for takeout, the food surprisingly tasted pretty good. It’s first time we give this place a try, we will definitely try other dishes while we drive by.
I'm rating this place 3/5 because they did a fine job with the sushi but not as great of a job with the entree dishes. Mine was teriyaki chicken rice bowl and it was drenched with too much soy sauce. I couldn't tolerating eating more than half of it. My husband got a pad thai and it was absolutely spicy he ate only 1/4 of it. The rest of my guest enjoyed their plates and it included teriyaki salmon bento box and sashimi combo. I would only recommend this place for the sushi. Otherwise good customer service.
Very fishy taste... we were extremely disappointed
I had the Loatian Sausage. My wife had the chicken Pad Thai. Both were excellent spicy dishes. We also had the pork Spring Rolls for an appetizer. The food is absolutely delicious.
The best Monkey balls!
Amazing! Simply amazing.
The sushi was prepared with a careful Nd caring touch. There was a large variety of options and which was great, since I wanted to try new things. The gyoza tasted amazing and looked and tasted hand made and not frozen, like other places. The prices were fair with what you get, since other sushi places can be more expensive and provide smaller rolls which is disappointing. I would definitely recommend Sakura if you have an urge for great sushi.
Sun. 5/16, a day they are Scheduled to be open, I found a Closed Today sign on their door. No, I'm Sorry- for inconveniencing a Customer. And, the Poor Communication continued with no explanation as to why they were closed, When I called Sa.afternoon,5/15,
a female Manager volunteered that they were open everyday.
Finally we found the best Pad Thai in Albuquerque. Took a couple of tries but this is it. Have tried their sushi as well and it is good but we go for the chicken Pad Thai. Great family owned business, support local all the time.
Dark inside and uninviting. The food didn’t have a fresh flavor and I don’t recommend this place for curry or it’s sushi.
The sushi was delicious! They offer a wide variety of Asian cuisines, will definitely be back to try more dishes!
Amazing place to eat!!
We do take out here every Friday. The rolls are delicious and more generous than anywhere else we've been to in town. Give them a shot if you're looking for a new sushi place to try.
I’m addicted to this place.
Best sushi in the city!
Great food and staff
This sushi restaurant has become our go-to place for sushi. The sushi is fresh and bursting with flavor and the portions are generous. They are not kidding when they claim the biggest sushi rolls in Albuquerque!
Customer service was great and the food tasted fine. I got 2 rolls and the fish gave me food poisoning. Spent 3 hours on the toilet that night. Would not recommend
My favorite sushi place in Albuquerque!!
Delicious american style sushi! They have lots of food options, but we ordered 3 american style rolls to-go. The baby baked lobster roll is so filling. Everyone in the resteraunt was friendly and worked quickly.
Haven't been in a while. The Teriyaki, apps. and the Curries are what's best. Came to give a good review since I somehow have forgotten to praise this restaurant. The lady server is so cool and nice. The place is always clean. The Teriyaki is delicious and cared for. Everything is great about this place and I have been coming here since 2007.
Love it! Best sushi I ever ate 😍
Such a gem of a place. Very clean, following all Covid-19 rules. The food was amazing, if you have to wait to sit down, then do it. It’s sooo worth the wait. Lots of orders to go orders. Great service. Before you go to some big-chain sushi place consider helping out this family and their amazing restaurant.
Did two rolls as carryout. One roll was made just fine, as expected, other drenched in so much eel sauce that the other roll also was sauce soaked. Not really what I was hoping for.
I try to give places the benefit of the doubt right now due to 2020’s extenuating circumstances, so three stars. Maybe it’s better in-restaurant but right now that’s not an option.
Thai green curry was amazing.
I've never had a bad experience. The most amazing food and preparation. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Sushi is always fresh and delicious.
I was so looking forward to healthy fresh light sushi. Good well crafted sushi. The people here are lovely, the service was good. The quality of sushi though was not. Huge mushy pieces of Hamachi on a tiny piece of Nigiri rice. They mixed the fake crab flakes with so much mayo it made me nauseous. I got it togo and drove it all the way back because it was so unappetizing. I really wanted this place to be good! 😪
They are generous with their cuts of fish, and the fish quality is not terrible. However, everything else was amateurish and lacked craftsmanship. I make sushi myself at home so I can tell that the seasoning is not right. The rice was way too heavy on the vinegar and tasted like it used a store-bought mix, and the sushi rolls were soggy and falling apart because of the vinegar. The cuts of fish were like giant LEGO blocks, not delicate and soft as it should be. Disappointing and do not recommend if you’re wanting good sushi.
BEST sushi in Albuquerque!!!
My favorite sushi place and the most personable and sweet staff! Our family loves to eat here for fresh quality food!
First time trying this place and it’s nasty!! Worst sushi I ever had never again!!
Ordered take out tonight. I ordered the salmon bento box- the salmon was dry but the veggies were good. My husband ordered two rolls, one which had octopus on top and was absolutely smothered in sauce. Overkill. He enjoyed his other roll, yellow fellow. We also got the laab with beef; it had a really strange texture and the beef was dry as well. It wasn’t bad though, just not great. Overall, we won’t go back but maybe it’s better when you dine in.
I can’t say enough great things about Sakura! My family and I each tried a different type of dish—sushi rolls, a bento box, stir-fried noodles, and their gyoza. Everything tasted amazing. Every 5 minutes we would stop eating and mention how good our food was.
I first started coming here because they had an awesome Caterpillar Roll, years ago. But my favorite now is the Monster Roll with white tuna. Definitely a good choice to share with friends. Always amazing service. Always excellent food. Great little family owned restaurant. I've brought many friends and family members with me. Green chile tempura is awesome.
Lovely place and staff, eat there all the time
Really love this place. Nice to go to at the end of the day.
This is the only sushi restaurant I will go to in Albuquerque. They have the best rolls and the best service. My fiance and I go about once a month and the woman there always remembers our orders.
This restaurant serves is our favorite Japanese food in ABQ. Great food, efficient and friendly service. I love this place!
Everything was very good, and ther service was great
This is the best sushi restaurant that we have been to so far since moving to ABQ from Washington, DC.. The portions are amazing and the sushi is so fresh! If you aren't a sushi fan, there is so much more to have that's amazing such as Pad Thai, Pad See Iew (amazing with TON's of veggies) and tempora. We will definitely be back!
Best sushi place in town!
First time here, and we really enjoyed it! The sushi was fresh and the portions are great compared to other sushi restaurants in the area. Service was wonderful. Everyone was so nice! Will be back.
Sushi is always fresh and delicious. We also had gyoza and pad thai both super tasty. Service great, family owned.
Sakura Sushi is where i go for all my sushi stops. This is a family owned establishment and they are so friendly.
Super awesome. I loved it
I love this place! The owners are amazing. There whole family works here and we always get great service and food.
We actually go there once or twice a month. The food is always Great and service is excellent! We love Sakura sushi
It would be nice to know you're closed before driving across the city. Thanks!
