Relaxed destination with a quaint atmosphere preparing a large menu of homestyle Thai staples.
I recently had dinner at this restaurant, and the food was just okay. For appetizers, we ordered fried wings and chicken dumplings. For dinner, we got the seafood fried rice, which surprisingly only had three pieces of shrimp. Having eaten at many Thai restaurants, I can say this was my least favorite experience.
Spring Rolls are homemade and to die for. Homemade is the key and you can taste every ingredient AND i ordered for delivery and still arrived hot using doordash
Siam Basil has the best thai food ever!!! This is our favorite place, we have been going here for years and love all their food!
I have never had a bad meal here. The sampler appetizer lets you try a little bit of everything and it is all amazing! My husband always opts for the drunken noodles, which is a deliciously spicy dish. I have tried multiple dishes and I must recommend the yellow curry. It is such comfort food. The steamed fish is equally as good!
Intimate place with pretty good food. I ordered the Pad Woonsen with chicken and my boyfriend ordered the spicy noodles but they weren't spicy so he was a bit disappointed. There were only two women on the floor to take orders, refill water and run food to customers so they could probably use another person! Might be back
Absolutely incredible food!! Great service as well, thank you :)
I was first introduced to this gem by members of my church. Upon advertising a dress code in direct contradiction with season and beach culture at shogun legends, I returned regularly
First time here and we got the Eggplant & Chicken Basil entree and the Chicken Sam Rod and both were delicious. Thai chili sauce was soo good and the perfect amount of spice! They do takeout as well. Menu prices are reasonable and portions are great (not too much or too little). We will definitely try this again.

Worst Thai food I've ever had! I wish I walked out!
Absolutely incredible food!! Great service as well, thank you :)
Always perfect service and food!
Very good authentic Thai restaurant. Great services and prices. Highly recommended
Excellent Food, great service, nice menu !
Great service and great food. Will be going back again.

Always great food
This place is incredible
Did take out, really excellent food! I got noodles, tom yum soup, and curry. 10/10.
I come here once a week for dinner! Great food, kind staff and welcoming atmosphere. The staff are educated on gluten-free and are incredibly safe with cross-contamination.
The food is reasonably priced!
Was very disappointed with the way they treated the customer and we was waiting for 45 minutes for food
The food, service and employees are fantastic! I get the Massuman Curry at every thai place i go so i have a good perspective on the portions. Got the dinner version of the curry for $18 and it seemed like a lunch portion compared to other local thai places. Would be 5/5 if they upped the portions a bit!
Very fresh food. Noodles are very light. Delicious. Service is OK. Place is unassuming
great food
Delicious Thai food. Recommendation for pad thai.
If you want rude and mean, this is your place ! Couldn’t get past the guard dog at the front to sit and have lunch - you can be sure we will never go back there again - try it at your own risk … but be forewarned - this is NO FRIENDLY PLACE … bad attitudes waiting for you !
The environment is so cozy and the food taste amazing, I love this place!
Ordered on grub hub and they totally forgot my meal.
They can make vegan papaya salad, without fish sauce , with light soy sauce instead
Best Thai food in the area
Love this place, always such good food. A treasure.
Very good food.
Such a great spot! We get the lunch here all the time, super quick and delicious! They even offer a lot of gluten free options which is a great bonus for my family! Highly recommend, it is delicious!
Extensive menu. Very good food.
Love this place! Great environment and delicious food. My favorite is the vegetarian yellow curry, so good!!
Quiet out of the way place with excellent food
Very pleasant. Definitely will return
I love this place! Quality and pricing, customer service too...5 stars!
Def recommend the Tom Yung soup and drunken noodles. Go here!
This is my wife's favorite Thai food place. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because of the price. They are pretty expensive. If you can you should order off the Lunch Specials menu because that is a great deal.
vegan options !
The moment I walked in felt off by the hostess. She seemed like she didn’t want to serve customers. she was rude. Food was alright although a coconut drink came a mosquito on it.
Excellent Thai food and extremely nice people.
My favorite Thai place in the area!
VERY RUDE WAITER
In all honesty, the food was pretty good. But, the waiter Anne was very RUDE and would never serve us with respect (always banging on our table and making RUDE comments). So, it was very upsetting because my family and our guest had to go through that. So, yes the waiter was DISGUSTINGLY hostile. But, once again I have to say the food was pretty good.
Not usually thai fan, but Duck was very good. Rest of dinner party enjoyed their meals.
Went for a Saturday lunch. The tall Asian waitress was so incredibly rude and basically yelled at me when I asked to be seated at a different table when the place was empty. Portions are ridiculously small and over priced. Left starving. Would never go back after waitress yelled at me.
I have dined at this restaurant twice within the past month. Both times, a Friday night and a Saturday night, I have found the wait staff to be exceedingly rude and rather curt with the customers. On both nights, the restaurant seemed busy. I noticed there were only two servers for the entire restaurant. The two young servers were primarily dealing with customers, new customers coming into the restaurant and the seated customers, as well as fielding phone orders. They certainly seemed significantly overwhelmed. Unfortunately, their inundation translated into absolutely poor customer interaction.
I heard one of the diners at the table closest to me nicely ask one of the servers about the status of one of the dishes they had ordered. The other people at that table had already been served their food and this one person was sitting there puzzled. This particular diner politely asked her again after she seemingly ignored his first inquiry. I nauseatingly heard her say, "It's not going to come out quicker if you keep on asking." There was an instantaneous pause in that table's collective conversation, as they all looked on with bewilderment and indignation. Surprisingly, the "scolded" diner maintained his cool and never responded with any rancor. I was expecting him to say something to the effect of, "Excuse me!" But he was seemingly calm and patiently waited for her to bring out his dish.
At no time whatsoever did I notice any apologetic sentiment from this server for such an appalling and unjustifiable comment. Instead, she steadfastly maintained a look of defiance and vexation. Her repulsive conduct actually caused that table to prematurely ask for the bill, despite them not finishing their respective dishes. She unquestionably ruined their dining experience at this restaurant, and, more than likely, their entire evening. Upon leaving, I looked at one of them with outright empathy and subtle sorrow.
It is not completely fair to lump this server's conduct with the other's comportment. But, she was the least bit affable or cheery herself.
As a direct result of the deplorable and fortuitous behavior by these servers, my family and friends will unquestionably be dining at a new Thai restaurant, despite the fact that we all reside within a few miles of Siam Basil Thai Restaurant. I just read a captivating quotation today, "Rudeness is a means to attract attention, assert power, cover-up ineptitude, deflect personal insecurities and intimidate meeker people." To the owner/owners, this should assuredly be something to think about when hiring servers.
Nice people sometimes stress but it is understandable there are a lot of work to be done and costumers very friendly and nice people
Decent food and good flavors. Take out menu has limitations. Chili paste dishes are way too oily. Unhealthy and less fresh tasting.
We had dinner here last night. We all absolutely loved our food, which isn't an easy feat. My son and his girlfriend are vegan and there were plenty of options for them including vegan duck. I don't like any spices and I got something I loved as well. Very. Casual decor. I definitely recommend. BTW, we came from Freehold.
Good food! Hard to find thai restaurants
i enjoy the food it was delicious.
I ordered a vegetarian curry - because I’m a vegetarian, and they put chicken in it because my husband’s order had chicken. When I called them to complain, and have it fixed they told me that “they assumed I wanted chicken because the other dish had it and there’s nothing they can do”
Such a shame because we enjoyed ordering from there.
Very upset we drove 30 minutes away. Upon arriving we were told it’s only take out. Front desk girl didn’t care she had very nasty attitude They never updated their info on google. Now a group of 10 need to find a place before everyone around here closes… I don’t recommend based on poor initial greeting
Good Thai food........but lousy rest rooms which makes not recommended for highway travellers
Amazing Food
Went to this restaurant because couple friends of ours said it was very good. The wait was long to put in an order....then I knew why....there was only one person taking orders and bringing food to the tables. She was snippy to me but I then I realized she was probably overwhelmed. The soups were good and my friends liked their dinners. I ordered Pad Thai with pork. The pork was dry and had a rancid taste. I picked out all the pork and ate some of the Pad Thai noodles. For dessert we had cheesecake egg rolls...now that was worth it! Delicious! I would give them one more chance.
The best Thai restaurant on this area.
Amazing food, amazing service! I get the penang ped je. ...? Vegetarian duck entree every time! And don't forget to order the Thai iced tea! Yummy!!
My husband works near Sea Girt and has been ordering, picking up, and bringing home Siam Basil for a few years now. We love the food. The take-out service is a little nutty, but to be expected at dinner time rush. I give this one star, at this point, because I'm over it with how cheap they are! The green curry is my favorite and it's enough food for both of us to split, so we order extra white rice. They skimp a little bit on the broccoli and cauliflower, but I can deal with it. Lately, they have been skimping on the rice! One pint comes with the dinner, so we order & PAY for an extra pint. At first it was plenty, but now they barely fill either pint container 2/3 of the way. He told them today that they aren't filling the rice containers and their response was "Oh well, that's how we are doing it now." Well, we aren't going to be ordering from them anymore...over rice! UGH!
Always great service and yummy food 😋
Great local Thai restaurant with excellent food and friendly service. A wide range of selections and something for everyone to enjoy.
Great curry dishes, duck, pretty much all the food is amazing!
Good authentic Thai food
Foods always amazing. Quick service and friendly staff.
The best thai I've ever had!
Really good food and service with great vegan food
Green curry beef and Thai wings
Love this place. Food is always amazing. The spicy drunken noodles are my favorite.
I got the golden shrimp appetizer and I took a bite into 3 of the fried shrimp and they we NOT CLEANED shrimp. It was so disgusting I had to throw everything away. Such a gross experience
My favorite Thai place ever. The pad Thai is so indescribably amazing 🤩
I love the samosas and pad thai!!!
Best Thai place around, good portions, delicious food, friendly staff
Best spicy noodles ever. Got me through quarantine.
I ordered takeout/delivery from here via DoorDash. Specifically the Fried rice that comes with egg, tomatoes, onions and scallions, along with sweet sticky rice and spring rolls. I was very specific in my order with the only “special instructions” being no tomatoes (or cucumbers if it came with that in it).
I got a call from an unknown number on my phone that said it was from Illinois. I usually don’t answer unknown numbers unless they leave a voicemail. Luckily, the caller did leave a voicemail. It was a call from Siam Basil Thai Restaurant. After listening to the somewhat rude seeming voice mail, regarding confusion over my order and what I wanted in it (meat or tofu which neither should be in it), I called them back. The person who answered seemed either quite stressed, rushed or riled up about something. I politely informed them I received a call about my order and was returning that call when the woman started to speak to me very accusatorially. This is what she accusatorially asked/stated to me:
- What did I want in my order
- why didn’t I tell them specifically
- I needed to tell them specifically
- why didn’t I answer my phone when they called
- I should’ve answered my phone when they called
- because I didn’t answer my phone or inform them what I wanted in it, they cooked my order with meat or tofu so now they have to remake it
I felt very overwhelmed and confused. I stated as calmly as I could that I am not sure what she means. My order didn’t come with meat or tofu to begin with so I was not aware nor did I think I needed to inform them of that. My order was the fried rice that came with egg, tomato, onions and scallions. Not anywhere was there any thing that stated it had meat or tofu.
Also I was very clear in the “special instructions” section of “no tomatoes (or cucumbers if included in the dish”) so I don’t understand where the confusion came into play. I mean, it is simple math, no? If the order is fried rice (that comes with egg, tomato, onions and scallions) and the customer asks for no tomatoes (or cucumbers if it comes in it) that then what is made is fried rice with egg, onions and scallions. It is basically the same dish just minus one ingredient being the tomatoes. It cannot be that complicated and where does it or even I, say to add anything, let alone add meat or tufu? I had placed my order over an app with very clear instructions of what I wanted and payed for it already. I didn’t think I needed to do anything else other than wait for it to be delivered. This lady continued to retort with that I needed to inform her and because I didn’t she made the wrong dish and now had to remake it. I said again as politely as I could that I did not think nor did it say the dish had meat in it. Nor have I ever had to contact the restaurant specifically after placing an order via DoorDash as the app makes it very easily to be specific in what the users wants. This lady continued to be quite fresh and rude so I said “excuse me, but I do not appreciate how... “ but she cut me off before I got to finish my sentence huffingly saying “well now I have to go remake this. Thank you.” Before hanging up. I had tried to finish my sentence while she was saying that... which was that I did not appreciate how rude she was being nor did I appreciate being accused for something that is not my fault nor to my knowledge... but sadly I never got to finish my sentence as she hung up. Never have I ever been treated so disrespectfully or rudely by a restaurant employee (who appeared to be the cook) regarding an order. At this point I don’t care whether the food is good or not. The lack of communication, interpersonal and customer service skills this employee had was beyond intolerable, disrespectful and rude. It was down right inappropriate. So here I am, writing this review. I am so disappointed as I usually love going to and eating at this restaurant. And in a time where restaurants somewhat survive on take out/delivery orders due to the pandemic, one would think they would work on their phone skills.
I LOVED THE FOOD!!! The spice level was just. right. It was really nice hot food! And the lady who helped us was very nice! 100% recommend!!!
My first time here and I loved it! Although the phone gave a busy signal every time I tried to call over several different days, I finally got through! They are super busy, but it's worth the effort to get through to them. The thai iced tea is excellent and reasonably priced at 2.95 for a decent sized to go cup. The red chicken curry (number 35 on the menu) is just spicy enough to be enjoyed. It is definitely enough for 2 people. And the girl up front handling orders was so sweet, be sure to tip her!! I will be coming back for sure!! :)
Excellent food and customer service.
no masks in the kitchen and guy cutting carrots out front was not wearing a mask either. if they don't care why should you? never an upside surprise here........mediocre thai food but really the only game in town. Anywhere else in NJ and this restaurant would be forced to close or improve their product. fair prices but the food lacks excellence at every level. nice atmosphere inside should restaurants open inside again
Was good and fresh. Liked the spring rolls very much
Excellent food
I usually get lunch from here at least once a week. Their lunch special is great bang for your buck. Perfect portions of delicious thai specials, along with a tasty broth soup and a small salad with a really delicious peanut dressing, all for about $10. The staff is very friendly and my order has never been wrong, even when we order for the whole office. I never had a sit down dinner here, but I'd love to try it someday. Definitely my first recommendation for lunch near Sea Girt.
I love this place, the best Thai restaurant in the area.
Great food and service ...my go to for Thai
If you like Thai food you will love this place nice atmosphere good food and decent prices
Always superb!
Really good food - tasty, fresh. Service good, and atmosphere is casual and comfortable. I would like the portions to be a little larger.
Good thai food
Quick and effective service. GREAT Thai tea and Bangkok duck that keeps me coming back for more.
Fabulous.food great service wonderful servers. ,great atmosphere always love it always go. Thankyou so very much
Consistently good food and good service definitely a place to try
Great little Thai place in town. Really good curries, rice and noodles. Although I dislike the quality of tofu but everything else is really good. Nice staff and ambiance at the restaurant.
Great spicy dishes! Short handed service during lunch hour.
Amazing vege options!!! So, so good.
Good food a little pricy
All time favorite Thai place, and I love Thai food.
Excellent food, service, staff and atmosphere!
Clean, quiet, good service, good food and fair prices.
Amazing food! The owner is the sweetest!
Good food at a fair price, was very tasty
Delish And they always make my meals extra spicey!
Service was just ok, but food was delicious
Food is delicious and the staff is friendly. I have been here off and on since 2009
I really didn't care for it that much. The flavors that were in my beef Curry were not good. Not sure that I would go back
Very good food and service. Prices are about right (moderate). The exterior of the building is less appealing than it could be, but it's nice enough inside.
Would give 6 stars if that was allowed. Everything from ambiance, service and food was good. It was an accidental find for us, but will now go again. Only thing is.... Please don't forget to give serving spoon.. 😊
Great and authentic Thai food. Excellent menu. All the traditional dishes..tom yum soup was awesome..basil fried rice was awesome as well. Penang curry was delicious...fried tofu appy was little dry but went well on the rest of the tom yum. Bangkok Thai has a more elaborate menu so that still the best in town.
The food here is really good. It's a medium sized cozy little spot. I almost always order mussamah curry with chicken it's probably top ten dish ever for me.
Still my favorite Thai spot! Drunken Noodles are spicy and delish! 🔥
Byob. Food delicious. Pleasant Service. Clean restroom on same floor, first .
This place had AMAZING FOOD!! Thai curry is one of my favorite things and they made it sooo good! Their appetizers are to die for. The Satay was outrageous, and the samosa was awesome!! I recommend everything they have, you won’t regret it!!
Love the food !!!
One of the best meal I have had vacationing in New Jersey. The green curry was amazing!
I walked into this place around 7:30pm yesterday, Sunday. The whole place was empty and service was ok. Food was average. Saw lots of takeout. I didn't enjoy my soup that was ordered and entree was ok. I didn't leave the tip so the server chased me out to the car for tips. That left a bad taste. Tip is optional not mandatory. Plus it was only party of 2. Lady would not let me drive off until I paid her tip. I would not go back to this place at all.
Delicious Thai
In general the food was good, although the girl was rude and was in a hurry showed no interest in explaining. The smells of the kitchen are filtered to the restaurant
Excellent food.
Friendly people, excellent food.
