Eatery making homestyle Thai classics plus espresso drinks & desserts, including chocolate soufflé.
Very good Thai food located in Emerson,NJ. We ordered Thai ice tea and Thai coffee, soft shell crab and spicy salad with friend tofu appetizer, drunken noodle, red snapper, duck curry, and of course we have chocolate soufflé with ice cream. Everything is very delicious, we finished all dishes. friendly staff and comfortable seatings.
Located in Emerson, I have been dining at this establishment since their next-door neighbor is a Subi dealer on Kinderkamack Road. I have since purchased four vehicles. Pimaan Thai is family-owned and serves authentic cuisine. I came with my colleague for lunch today. Upon entering, the decor was nice, but not stuffy. We were seated promptly. The menu was varied between lunch and regular, including many vegetarian choices. The degree of heat is your choice. To begin our meal, we opted for the calamari served with a sweet chili sauce. Our main dish came from their lunch menu, accompanied by a small salad, and we decided on the Pad Thai with Beef and Pad See-Ew with Chicken. We even saved room and shared the chocolate soufflé with ice cream. The food came to our table consistently fresh, perfect, nicely presented, and delicious. The service was efficient and the price reasonable. We can continue to recommend this place.
This was almost a 4-Star review but Pimaan Thai Restaurant in Emerson came through. We showed up with no reservation as this was a last minute decision (1st time there too) and although they were fully packed, they accommodated us. We started with the fried calamari which was delicious! Crispy, fresh, tasty! Then, we ordered the sea food soup, this was a no go for us. It was like tangy water with tomato, a few mushrooms, two shrimps-not what I consider a sea food soup (Tom Yum PO-TAK) at all. The portions are small, so be cautioned! We decided to get a side of glass noodles to add to our soups, that was okay. We were still hungry so we overheard someone mention a crab fried rice. What! It didn’t disappoint, it was heaven! This fried rice was tasty, wonderful texture, and made with brown rice. The staff was attentive and friendly. I noticed a lot of people brought their wines. The crowd was upscale. This is a fine restaurant and we plan to return.
Authentic Thai restaurant. Reasonably priced for the food and service quality. Extensive menu and some items can be spiced to taste so good for a variety of palettes. Service is fast and helpful. When they say the higher spice levels are hot believe them. The pineapple fried rice were a really good balance between sweet, savory and spicy. Overall a great place to bring the family.
Contemporary ambience, Family style, Great food, Friendly staff. Plenty options for both vegetarians and others. We had the green curry with Fish and Pad Thai for lunch, with Jasmine tea and ended the lunch with sticky rice and mango, which was yummy and oh-so-delicious! Great for families, business lunches or just a date! The staff are friendly and helpful!
One of the best Thai food restaurant in the area! We have been going to this restaurant from last 15 years or more and the food always comes out fresh and delicious!
We always make reservations, because it’s very busy and it fills up quickly, it’s BYOB! The service is always good and food always comes out quickly and fresh and delicious!
Plenty of parking in the back of the building and entrance is from the front now! I highly recommend this place!

Terrible takeout experience will not order again
We absolutely love coming here. Food is always great.
We've been dining here for years but tonight's takeout will definitely change our loyalty.
3 soups and main course. When we got home half of soup in each portion was leaked out during driving because of crappiest quality plastic containers which are not leak proof. Main course was tasteless and dry, almost no souce. No utensils in bag as well. Has this restaurant reached a point when they no longer give a hoot?
My go to place for Thai food in the area. Everything is pretty good here.
Best Thai food restaurant
Not tasty at all, got a stomach ache:( and so expensive
A little underwhelming. Ordered drunken noodle, pad Thai, chicken with peanut sauce, sate and calamari. Drunken noodle was just okay — lacking the smokey wok cooked flavor I love and expect from Thai food. Pad Thai was disappointing and served with a desiccated lemon slice. Chicken with peanut
Sauce and sate were fine. Service was pretty slow, though would have been able to overlook had the food been better. Don’t plan to return.
The best in the area! Always delicious food and friendly service.
Our go to place for many years. Lately, not only the portion size got smaller, but worst of all, food quality, taste has gone way down on certain dishes. Very sad.
Surprisingly bad service. The food is so good and each time I come here there are slower and colder with their service. Told us 35 min for a phone order for takeout. Got there after 35 min and waited an extra 30 min in the restaurant as people were climbing around me. There’s no where to sit or wait. They just kept asking what my name was very 7-8 min. Easily asked me 4-5 times what my name was.
Unbelievably bad service. Wow
Amazing food!! Friendly service. Highly recommend.
Food is just so so , no service but tip 20% however is fixed in the price. I will not go there 2nd time.
The food and service are excellent but its incredibly noisy and the further back you are the noisier it gets. I think the cathedral ceiling in the back makes it very echoey. Putting sound dampening tiles on the ceiling or hanging some tapestries on the walls would go a long way to bring down the harsh echo. The food is absolutely delicious, fresh and healthy. If we decide the noise is too much we might resort to only ordering food to pick up and take home. I took off one star for the noise, otherwise its a great place.
Food was bland and unappetizing. Customer service was worse then the food. Hot food just sat on the table with no plates or utensils in sight. Had to ask for plates and utensils multiple times, food got cold by the time we had anything to eat it with. Waited 30 mins and had to ask 3 times for water and coconut juice. Juice which was not fresh and tasted absolutely disgusting. One star is one too many.
My best friend was craving their duck & it was my first time here. I was not disappointed one bit and it was really affordable! I am extremely picky when it comes to duck but this is by far the BEST duck I’ve ever had. It was crunchy & the tamarind sauce paired perfectly with it. Their chicken curry puffs and pad thai were also incredible. I grabbed a lunch menu to go again since it’s very close to work. Highly recommend going here.
Decades of eating there and taking out. Always consistent. Veggie options and it’s byob.
Make a reservation…they are always busy.
The service is too slow and the servers are rude
Food was too sweet. The chicken curry puff was horrible with no chicken and only filled with potatoes that tasted really bad.
Horrible service. They do not know a thing about customer service! Telling a customer sarcastically, “if that makes you happy” is completely unacceptable. We were charged for the incorrect dish. We waited 50 minutes for the food to arrive. My father ended up getting food poisoning afterwards as well! Overall, probably won’t come back here. Good luck to the ones who are brave enough to try this place.
I can't believe I payed 19 dolar for drunken noodles and there is no noodles. I just picked up my takeout order started to eat but after three bite there is no more noodle, I have veggies left. No noodles. I tried drunken noodles in so many places and nobody I mean nobody served me this lesser amount before. This is not even half portion.

Amazing food and great service!
Grilled beef with sticky rice was my first dive into that food.
First time having Thai food, and it was good. Had the chicken fried rice.
rude senior waitress, she made my birthday bad! 1 star for this place ! Terrible!don't come here!
We visited this place with Mansi
Excellent food, one of my favorite spots.
The food quality and quantity is excellent. My favorite dishes there for years has been the red curry, veggie spicy fried rice, spicy tofu and drunken noodle spaghetti. And the entire menu mentioned is vegetarian
A Gastronomic Delight.
A Perfect 10
Awesome food & extremely courteous & knowledgeable staff.
Hats off to our server Mr. Ten.
Drive from Long island to eat there definitely worth the trip.
This is one of the best authentic Thai restaurants I have been tasting around New York and New Jersey. Great environment and services. We tasted Red Curry and Papaya salad, both are good, the curry is rich in flavors and the salad sweetness and sour is perfectly adjusted.
I ordered the chicken pad see ew and it was delicious! We didn't have to wait to get seated at a table.
Love love pimaan. Very flavourful. Everything item is so so good
The workers were amazing. They were so polite and have lovely service. I would definitely recommend. The food is also one of the best.
The appetizers were godd the entrees not so much. I got sick from mine. The server was horrible. She kept rushing us and did not explain the food well when we asked for more information. The fried calamary was frozen. I would not recommend this place.
This place and food is good enough but there was one boy who was literally asking people for tips by stopping them. Even when the customer gave the tip, he was demanding more which was very rude and irrelevant. This kind of behaviour towards customer is not good . Also came to us asking at the table that do you want to add some tip which was unnecessary because we already added 10 dollars and our bill amount was only 70 dollars.
Food is great but service is horrible. The servers need to learn how to talk to people and tell customers nicely when cannot accommodate, not tell them to go.
Great service and tasty food. Highly recommend
Unfortunately had a bad experience. This was our fav restaurant until the day they treated our food bad and on top of it demanded tip. Cannot go back. Will have to find another Thai cuisine and I am sure we won’t sweat.
Remains some of the best Thai food in Bergen County.
Been going here for years. Consistently serves great food with nice service
Another Thai gem of a restaurant in Emerson, NJ. A cozy place. Kid friendly. Bustling at dinner time. I will recommend a reservation. Food is excellent. Despite having only 2 waitresses, the service was excellent. There were lots of takeout orders. The recommended dishes are the ones we ordered. Others also should be good. I will try it next time.
Lovely local place for Thai favs. Try the Penang curry for a burst of flavor - 100% recommend that dish.
They ABSOLUTELY need to find a quiet place to take phone orders. Shouldn’t be difficult to find a small space that is away from the busy (which is a good thing!) and very noisy main dining hall. Other than that everything is great.
I have never had a bad dish here, food is always 100%! Great and fast service,

Great food and service! A nice find! Will definitely be going back.
Great Thai food and exceptional service!
Average Thai.
11/7/23 - It was very average then but I'm glad that we visited again. Food is tasty. Presentation is better than most. Service is attentive and friendly though can be a bit slow at times. The redecorated dining room is sparkly and comfortable. It's a very nice local Thai restaurant and will keep this as an option going forward.
Good food and service as always.
The Best Thai food. PERIOD!!!!!!!!
Located in Emerson, I have been dining at this establishment since their next-door neighbor is a Subi dealer on Kinderkamack Road. I have since purchased four vehicles. Wish I read some of the reviews before coming here. Same issue where they said we only have 1 hour to eat. And the food takes longer than that to come out. And we see people who came in after us finish eating and PAY before our food even came. And when I pointed this out to the staff, they got nasty and wanted me to point out the customers. Avoid at all costs
The food is decent but the portions are atrocious. They really went downhill after covid. I would need 3 lunch orders to feel full. I can't believe how little they give you, it is less than the size of my fist. They were also surprisingly rude to me the last two times I went to pick up my order. I've given them so many chances to redeem themselves because I live close to the restaurant and each time they keep letting me down.
Good food. A bit noisy, but service was quick.
Food itself is 5/5 but service is consistently bad and if you are calling for take out, good luck. Last 3 times I have ordered, I had to call at least 10 times before anyone picked up. I mean if you don’t have staff to man the phone, just list your restaurant on one of the thousands online order services, so people can at least place an order.
I had never had Thai fried rice before but it was amazing!!! Probably the second best fried rice ive ever had in my life. The Thai tea was also delicious, and so were the drunken noodles. It was pretty crowded at 7ish on a Tuesday so I would recommend making a reservation if possible
Great food!! Amazing Thai food
Good lunch options.
Duck salad is the one of the best 🍽️
The food at Pimaan is some of the best Thai I've had. I've only ever done takeout so can't speak to the in-person experience, but the food is excellent. Sometimes it can be hard to get a hold of them on the phone, but once you do, they're pretty quick and the dishes are very consistent.
Exquisite, authentic Thai food. All of our dishes were excellent 👌.
Great and delicious food. I have been visiting this restaurant for 20 years. The food is spectacular … the taste is really special. The service is fast and the employees are very polite.
The owners do a remarkable job.
I highly recommend visiting this restaurant. The best Thai food in New Jersey.
Great restaurant to be
Good food, good service,
Good is good. Service is mediocre. One server during lunch. Only had four tables and still overwhelmed. Messed my order up. Even so I said thank you, no response back. Pretty rude. Not worth it.
My family and I have been ordering pickup or eating at Pimaan for nearly 20 years.
I don’t believe they deliver and it’s because they don’t have to.
I’ve been to bunch of Thai restaurants around the county. This is my favorite.
Other restaurants should ask Pimaan for advice on how to make vegetarian duck.
They’ve mastered it.
Our regular routine isn’t too crazy.
We order a few thai salad and a soup or two maybe a couple of Thai iced teas
I always get the veg duck pad see ew. It might be the dish I ask for as a last meal.
Someone — my wife usually — inevitably orders a red curry.
My mom loves the Thai basil veg duck.
My dad loves the chicken or beef satay and fried rice or pad Thai.
My sisters always get something they love.
We share. It’s delicious. Everyone’s happy!
Hope we can continue serving their delicious food for the next 20 years and beyond!! ❤️
Red seafood curry was delicious
I love their vegetarian duck. So good.
Best Thai restaurant in the area. All of the food is good, highly recommend trying the vegetarian duck on Drunken Noodles.
Ask for it extra spicy if you like that sort of thing.
Good place near by for Thai food, love drunken noodles and pad Thai.
This place is definitely a hidden gem. We found this place out on google search for thai places and was our first time visiting. It was indeed the best decision to go there for lunch. The food is fresh, tasty and also well priced. We ordered the drunken noodles and tofu vegetable basil fried rice, thai iced tea. The desert was also presented so well. Overall would love to visit again.
Excellent food, beautiful presentation. Great place for a casual meal or a celebration. It is a BYOB .
Authentic Thai Food👍
Delicious Thai food. Long time favorite of ours.
Food d b good but a bit too salty. The string beans in the prad king of dish were old and the shrimps were overcooked. Not as good as past visits. Disappointed.
Always excellent food and service. Pimaan rolls are a great way to start. The squid in love is their best entree imo.
Update: food is still delicious but every employee wears gloves. It is disturbing and disgusting.
TERRIBLE SERVICE… We were told we had 1 hour to order and eat because the table was reserved which was fine. We only spent 30 MINUTES!!!! and the entire time we were being rushed by the old lady with the Dora hair cut who was extremely rude. After we paid she had the AUDACITY to say “you didn’t leave a tip” and then literally CHASED US OUTSIDE to try and beg for a tip because “they served us quick.”
Absolutely insane, never experienced anything so rude and entitled before at a restaurant. Food is fantastic which is the sad part
Food was good as usual but they can sometimes get very busy so service gets a little slow. Check ahead be ready to wait
I ordered a simple chicken and noodle dish, as my first ever experience here, as a takeout. I observed very large portions of the same dish with much meat, served at that moment to patrons, and so concluded my take out order would be the same size. The dish is served with a small salad. I arrived home, and found I was given a very small flat container, separated in 2 sections, for the noodles and a salad. The noodles were not even half the portion of a pint of Chinese takeout food as a reference, maybe a few forkfuls, little meat, and nowhere near my expectation of the same amount if I dined in, for the same cost — this on top of giving a tip, so I was very annoyed and disappointed.
I love everything about this restaurant, I travel 40 mins from my house to eat at this restaurant every month. They make the best drunken noodles. I would say my second best Thai restaurant in New Jersey
Stopped by for a delicious lunch. Had the appetizer steamed mussels, crabmeat fried rice and deep fried whole snapper! All were delicious and we completely devoured the plates! Super delicious!
For dessert, we had the fried banana with green tea ice cream and iced coffee.
Our taste buds were in heaven!!! Oh did I mention that the staff was equally amazing?!?
Would highly recommend Pimaan Thai!!!
Came across this place when my go to Thai restaurant closed. I can’t say enough great things about this place. The wait staff was friendly, the food was authentic and full of flavor. I feel the prices are on the low end considering the quality. I highly recommend Pimaan for those looking for a new restaurant with authentic Thai cuisine!
This is a nice spot to go. The food is excellent, the Thai Iced Tea is delicious the food portion is good and the services are excellent!! They also sing Happy birthday song for my friend's birthday.
Food is very good, the place is too noisy maybe because of low sealing, but hands down best Thai food in the area.
Food is well prepared and staff is very nice. The side steamed rice portion is on the small side.
We arrived 5:50pm for dinner without reservation and they take us in. At 6, the place is already packed. You need reservations to dine here because they turned away walk in customers. Food and ambiance with the Christmas decor is good. Service is ok and plenty of parking in the back.
delicious 😋
The food is always great!
Great food
Authentic Thai restaurant. Reasonably priced for the food and service quality. Extensive menu and some items can be spiced to taste so good for a variety of palettes. Service is fast and helpful. When they say the higher spice levels are hot believe them. The pineapple fried rice were a really good balance between sweet, savory and spicy. Overall a great place to bring the family.
The app and soup was okay. The entree was good! Would go back again to try the other dishes
Very authentic Thai food. We've been going there for years now.
Great food and flavours. Probably some of the best Thai food around. Good seating and great specials.
Worst Thai food I have ever had! Very bland and boring and to make things worse the food gave me the horrible diarrhea
Pimaan delivered with top notch Thai food. If you want straight up traditional Thai food, come here. The dishes were flavorful and I thought were a great value. BYOB was a huge plus too. Will definitely return to this restaurant when I need some delicious Thai food.
Food was okay. My gripe was that the place is SO LOUD, making conversation really difficult. I would encourage them to add fabric or foam onto their walls/ceilings. Plus, they get incredibly busy during dinner time and their operations, with the cash only stipulation, makes the service hectic and time-consuming.
I sincerely enjoy your tasty dishes!! Thank you all!!
I've been coming here for a long time now and I really enjoy the lunch special that they have here. Got the Green Curry with chicken and a Thai ice tea which tasted really good. The atmosphere is really cute and comfy and the staff are friendly and nice. Only had to wait a few mins before we were seated since we came here around 1pm which they have two hours of operation. 11am to 3pm with an hour of closed time and then 4pm to around 10pm for the dinner rush.
My favorite thai place in the area.
Decent Thai food, nothing special about it. Service was good as well
Worst dish ever! Mixed seafood, asked without the squid and just wanted Scallops and shrimp. Got 4 small shrimp and 1.5 Scallops I!! Won't be back !
Delicious and authentic Thai food! The papaya salad is refreshing and all of the curries I've tried are fantastic. I've been here several times and it's absolutely a meal to look forward to any time I'm in North Jersey!
Delicious food! Popular place
Delicious food. Very friendly staff.
Great experience. Food was amazing. Service was very good. Quick food preparation. Friendly atmosphete.
Good experience and good food
This is in a house, very cute inside. Plenty of parking in the back.
Friendly service. They cleared the table of the appetizer plates so fast it was like they were watching us LOL
All our dishes were amazing! So many yummy choices, we ordered food for more than 2 people LOL
Yum Woon Sen - clear noodles with pork and 🦐. This was so good I would eat it as an entrée!
Curry🦆 - every time there is 🦆,I order it. I can't wait to go back for more!
Soft Shell 🦀 in Panang Curry Sauce - I don't know what panang curry sauce is but it was so good and really complemented the 🦀.
🐸 Legs in Garlic Sauce - Wow that garlic sauce is amazing. The 🐸 legs were so tender I didn't realize I was eating something different. It was like eating a chicken wing. Hehehe
Highly recommend trying Pimaan Thai.
Walked in at 6:00 pm on a Wednesday place had lots of people sitting eating..Good sign...Got seated, they were busy, took a minute to get menus and water, but that was OK. Ordered soup and two dishes, Everything was DELICIOUS. The bill was about $46.
They are a BYOB Resturant. One of the best Thai food restaurants we have been too. Try it!!!! Check out the pictures on Google. The food comes out looking like the pictures.
Always love this place!
OMG. Their food is so good! Traditional and authentic. Just YUM.
All ways busy place, lunch menu need more improve
One of the best on this side of the river. In my top three for sure. Eat it hot. Dine in! Take out messes with the flavor. My kid will devour 3 servings of their chicken satays. Sweet and tender! Pad Thai is perfection and so is their fried rice variations.
Thai lovers must try this place.
Excellent
My family and I have been regular customers for over a year now and up until today we have been satisfied for the most part with the food. Service is however another story. The waitresses are usually ok except for one or two of them who have been outright rude in the past and today was no exception. My son ordered a lunch meal medium spicy but when he had his first bite, did not like it at all. The sauce and meal was very spicy even though it was ordered medium spicy which is what he usually orders and he could not eat it. We mentioned it to the waitress and she asked if we wanted to switch it for something else which we did and she then placed the replacement order. Then another waitress came to our table and told us that the "cooks in the back" said that we had to pay for the 1st meal and the replacement meal, even if we could not eat it because it was our fault that we ordered it that way and did not like it. What ever happened to customer service and the customer is always right? Just to clarify we have never asked to replace a meal in over a year, even though meals do not always come out exactly as expected. We normally do not complain but this time the spice was so overwhelming even though it was medium, which is we typically order our meals. The waitress was rude and unaccommodating and in my opinion has no sense to make the customer welcome and happy and want to come again. They could have offered something like a drink or something else to show a token of consideration rather than being outright rude. Who is to say that the cook did not make a mistake? They now lost good customers over a lunch meal. My family and I will not go back and now we will become regular customers at another local Thai Restaurant.
I had such a good time with my family!! Food and service were excellent. Staff were all friendly and professional. I enjoyed pad thai so much. Great that they have many non-spicy menus which little kids can enjoy.
Tasty food, standards always maintained and excellent service
