Great spot for a quick lunch.
Service was fast and friendly.
The food was delish, the fried calamari was golden and so good, none of that heavy grease taste.
My coconut soup was amazing, generous portion and piping hot.
We also ordered some chicken and veggies, fresh and delightful.
I Highly recommend checking it out !
I love Thai food, so I've eaten at a ton of Thai restaurants all over the world... this is the best I've ever had! It's elevated Thai food. Absolute perfection! So many vegan options. Service is incredible too! Can't wait till our next visit!
Having been to the Sacramento midtown location, being in Reno for business I just had to stop in. I wanted to see if the Reno location would be as good as the 5-star Sacramento restaurant. IT IS! Okay, I started off with fresh rolls, and calamari appetizers, these were SO GOOD. OMG, then the Drunken Noodle dish, it was spectacular. I always order Thai Tea when I am home in Sacramento, so I tried it in Reno. PERFECT. The owner (Ric) was super attentive and he was excited to learn that I was from Sacramento. He recommended we try new IPA beers which were great. The interaction with the staff was awesome. It is so good to see an owner who is kind, supportive and attentive with his staff. I will be going back to the Coconut Downtown on my next Reno trip.
Coconuts is my favorite restaurant in Reno. I had the green coconut curry at spice level 4 out of 5. Next time I would get it at a 2.5. I also had the lunch special while I'm in town using the local library which is located only a few blocks away. I like the brown rice that has a purply hue. The food is really fresh here.
First Impression - As said "First impression is the last impression". And, My first impression of this place was not good. I went there alone and when i entered the resturant, they had a table at the entrance with bunch of menus on it. Moment i entered the resturant, the Bartender simply asked me loudly picking up food? I said no dining in. and she said you can pick one menu and sit where you want.
Ambience - decent ambience. simple wooden tables with simple chairs. Not too fancy interior.
When the server asked to take my order and i told her i am here for the first time and if she can give some recommendations - she is like everything is good, you can order anything.
Anyways what i ordered, Basil Stir fry and Thai Iced tea. The food was served pretty quick and the food was pretty decent. I liked the food.
Sitting - they have sitting outside as well but it was raining when i went so that was closed.
Defenitely recommend this place.
So glad I found this place I had a quick stop in Reno and was craving for Thai food, luckily I had come in right before the dinner rush and was able to get seated quickly. After we sat down loads of people started coming in. Our server Mali was very sweet and gave great recommendations. They have a full bar if that is what you’re into.
Delicious Yellow Curry with purple rice, generous portions, topped off our meal with a scoop of fabulous coconut ice cream.
Pretty good lunch specials for less than 15$
Khoa Soi is a must try here ! Noodles in the soup is delicious 🤤 Thai spicy is perfect choice for someone who likes it spicy 🌶️

Food is always fresh and tasty. You gotta try thr mango sticky rice dessert. One of my favorite places to eat!
Food had no flavor. Hopefully chef gets back to it.

Red curry was delicious and hot even after a 10 minute walk through the cold. Nice spice level too.
This place is amazing and it is a must stop every time I'm in Reno! From the apps to the mains everything is outstanding and flavorful. The avacado cheese rolls are my favorite
Love the food. Great location, open late.
Thanks Rose for the wonderful service and delicious Thai meal !!!!
Awesome Thai at a great price. Plus the atmosphere and service were top notch.
Food was quite good. The service also exceeded expectations. Everything was going great until I got up to go use the restroom. There are two nasty bathroom keys with wooden handles hanging on a nail that one must handle in order to use the bathroom. No restaurant in 2024 should have a bathroom key that must be handled by all the employees and customers. It's a perfect way to spread a disease. If bathroom break-ins are a problem they should employ a cipher lock. Keys on a wooden stick are very Texaco toilet.
A friend suggested tgis place. It was great. I forgot what we go, but it was all great. I will definitely be going back again.
always spot on
get the mango sticky rice... do it
Says it's open right now at 3:15pm on a Sunday, low and behold they are closed until 4pm so....thanks for wasting my time.
Best Thai Restaurant in Reno. Great value for a quality. Definitely recommend!
Great place for Thai food.
coffee is a 10/10. thanks to the guy who made my coffee last night he was friendly and had good customer service sadly dropped one of my coffees outside tripping on the curb lol but the one i did have was amazing and im sure the other one was too
Pretty standard Thai food near downtown Reno. Service was good. Selection also food. Noodles and curries - as you'd expect. We liked the TV playing the preparation of the dishes. Good info.
We will be back.
Wow the food is amazing here! I had the avocado green chicken curry, hands down the best I’ve ever had. Super great location right next to the Truckee River.
The food did not have much flavor
The food was sooo good, and the service was nice. I recommend going here, cute atmosphere.
Orders delivery and was absolutely pleased with the Rangoon and panang curry was amazing.
Hours not updated. They close from 3pm.
Very good rice and super spicy. Would deff come back, great place to snag dinner and get back on the road.
I had a terrible dining experience here recently. Then I discovered that on October 3rd 2023 The Coconut Downtown failed their health inspection with a staggering 11 violations per the Reno Gazette Journal. Eat here at your own risk.
Really good
Cold, bland, mushy food. Extremely rude waitress who was completely useless at everything. There are too many good restaurants in Reno to waste your time and money on this dump.
My husband will never let me hear the end of it as it was my turn to choose, and we came here for dinner one Saturday night. We lived in Asia for many years and are used to spice and the amazing flavor of Thai food. Restaurants usually let you know that certain dishes are spicy and give you the option the bring the level down.
Here the young servers didn't explain anything, particularly that you start at zero spice and can request a high spiciness level; as a result, we ended up with a bland selection of food. The presentation was pretty but were let down dish after dish. Papaya salad was more of a garden salad, the eggrolls seemed to have been fried frozen but not given enough time to cook inside, and a chicken dish had fish oil as the dominant flavor. The staff only came to the table when dropping off or picking up food.
I think the place has a lot of potential, great location for business lunches, nice people, pretty space. I wish I could give it another chance!
The potstickers were so good!!! 10/10 recommend.
Worst Thai food ever. Can’t believe I paid for what I couldn’t even eat. Staff are non professional, terrible dry rice, curry dish with sea food was horrible, they didn’t even cook it together, the staff said they received everything prepackaged from Sacramento, so they just mix and serve. everything was full of sugar!
So so so good! Everyone was so nice and welcoming. The food was exactly what we wanted clean and fresh. They have organic meat options and tofu. They even have authentic Thai pumpkin pudding! We got seated right away. Def coming back here.
Food was great and authentic Thai. Customer service was excellent. I had a great time with my son dining here.
Amazing food and service atmosphere is phenomenal love.
We sat at the bar and ordered the pineapple red curry, the Rangoon's and the pad Thai. We watched the owner guzzle 6 glasses of beer as we went about dining at what we thought was a fine dining establishment. We were very incorrect on that assumption. We witnessed the owner corner the new staff member and Bully them, act like a sloppy drunk to other patrons. The wine was stale and tasted gross. The red curry tasted like something was off like the other reviews mentioned. The pad Thai was large enough to feed a zoo but tasted bland. The Rangoon's are the best part about dining there. It took a long time to get the check when we were ready as the owner was too busy yelling at our server who just wanted to do her job. The server was nice at least but everything else about the restaurant was poor.
Edit: they have failed a health inspection as of October 2023. Would highly recommend avoiding the place.
Super Tasty Thai should be their name!
They have not missed the mark on any of our 5 visits over the last year.
Their Curry's are very good on a cold day in Reno.
To wrap up my review, simple dining area, fresh & hot food. Small staff, so be patient, IT'S NOT FAST FOOD!!
*Watch out for the parking Natzi, keep quarters in your car.
Good food, good prices and service. A++
Great food!
Got some pot stickers, super nasty, like they got them from Walmart and put them in the microwave for a few minutes.. could only choke down two and my coworker had two could not finishe the rest . Wast of money and time seriously
Very nice place with good food portions. The touch of orange in the drinking water is so nice.
Delicious food, incredible service and smiles everywhere. Give it a shot, you'll be satisfied
Ordered drunken noodle and gave thin rice noodles instead of thick rice noodle. Service is very slow, food came 20 minutes late after order. Once finished, waited 5 to 10 min to get check, no one came and stood up and paid at the counter. Very dissatisfied.
My go-to restaurant for Thai! The portions are huge and the food is delicious. DO NOT miss the Mango Sticky Rice with Coconut ice cream dessert option - it's delectable and heavenly!
My sub total is $87.70
Sales tax 8.265% is $7.248 but they charged me $8.56 ( extra $1.3)
When I called them there is no response and people don’t understand English or they act like they don’t.
They are cheating 1$ on every 80$ bill
Please check your bill and it has to stop somewhere
They kept asking us( like 5+ times) to add $15 gratuity for 5 people and they don’t respond when I call them up with a question on my cheque
Fantastic Thai food. The yellow curry is spectacular; piping hot with loads of chicken, carrots, and potatoes. The noodle dishes are also quite tasty, but the curry fills me up!
Very good.
Thank you.
Great Thai food! There are lots of options on the menu and fast service!
Ate at this spot for the first time last night and it was amazing! I got the pineapple red curry and OMG! It was to die for. Their Thai tea was bomb, and the chicken wings are pretty good too. Definitely one of my new go to spots for Thai food in Reno.
The food was terrific and they had the ability to make many of there meals gluten-free
Friendly and great service, spicy and delicious!!!
Server told us the wait to be seated was 15 min. We waited 40. After being seated, our orders were taken, and 40 min later we were told it would be another 30 minutes before our food would come out. Other people who came after us were served food before us. My diabetic partner took insulin to eat dinner, and we had to leave to get food elsewhere so his blood sugar wouldn't drop to dangerous levels - the staff didn't offer anything to help with this when we said we need to get him food (uh, to live? Even a soda would have been good). They did not even apologize. They just said "another 30 min.' AND still charged us for the Thai teas we ordered (and server also forgot my wine with my drink order.) I know some places are understaffed, but this is ridiculous. We were actually excited to eat here because it smelled good. We didn't get to eat here because the service was awful.
It was very busy, and a bit short staffed, so the service was a little slow. I got the pad Thai with shrimp and a medium spice level. The dish was yummy, and the spice is there. If you are sensitive to spice, the medium would probably still be too spicy— I say bring it on.
Great food and love the location!
One of my favorite spots in Reno so far. Everything we tried was amazing. I got the green curry with white rice. It had so much flavor, the server recommended the beef and that's what I got, it was delicious. And Good portions, I was able to have this as a second meal the next day for lunch. The Rice was fluffy and perfect as it should be. They even gave us a free scoop when we asked for some more rice to go (we expected to pay for it). We also got the coconut shrimp, the shrimp was so tinder, they were large, and the coconut was crispy and just right. The drinks were cheap, like super cheap. Honestly can't say enough good things about this place. Will be back.
We walked to this place from my downtown condo on the river. We had never tried it before, and were better than pleasantly surprised. Every single item we ordered, and we ordered too much for two people, was as good or the best we have ever had for Thai food and we are very picky.
It was traditional, authentic, well displayed, with perfect flavors.
This is now my go to for Thai food in Reno hands-down.
The tom yum soup was good, the Pas see ew was literally disgusting. I still have this horrible taste in my palette. YUCK!!!
I really like all the different options this place offers. They have something for everyone, and can change the spice level for those who need that extra kick. The pricing is also reasonable. Food is delicious! I've tried a few different items here and each one has been great! This last time I visited I tried the Kao Soi, this was very good I think it's the first time I've tried this dish in particular at any thai place. Highly recommend this place.
Excellent restaurant. Service. Rapid, food delicious.
Always good. I'm allergic to gluten and there lots of options and I never get sick! 🙃
Some of the best Thai I’ve ever had. I walked in before the restaurant was closing for an hour break.. and they were so nice.. they welcomed me to place an order.. They made the chicken Praram for me. It was sooo good and fresh. The sauce, the meat the vegetables, the rice everything was perfect. I can’t wait to return!
How does this place have such a high rating? The food was truly underwhelming and that’s putting it nicely. Overcooked meat, noodles that look like they came out of a packet, the pad thai tasted like sweet and sour sauce, the panang curry literally had no panache. It just tasted like coconut milk. The only redeeming moments were the cheese wontons which had a really flavorful cheese, and the tom yum soup, which was a bright, savory soup. Service was fast and cheery, and the spot is actually super nice. Has a lot of potential…if the food got better.
Excellent food. Fast and friendly service. Great atmosphere and views next to the Pioneer theater with great big windows to see out. Also great for take out. Highly recommended!
Good was great and the service was quick.
Always closed stating they are short staffed. This is no way to run a business.
Pretty disappointed overall, since the reviews clearly oversold the food. Our noodles looked like they had been put through a food processor (the longest one we found was about an inch long) and the food tasted like they had borrowed an Italian spice mix from next door, rather than using Thai spices.
The one redeeming factor was the wontons, which were surprisingly good given how bad the Thai was.
Had the best Green Curry I’ve had in a long time! Food was delicious and server was attentive to us!
I guess its the only good place for authentic Thai food in Reno. The food and the portion size was good for an adult. I will take away one star for ambience being at a wonderful location at downtown, the ambience was just OK.
Dine in. I have no clue how this place can have such high rating. The food is mediocre: overcooked chicken, frozen veggies etc. The place feels empty, there are table numbers on yellow post-its. Service is ok but not welcoming.
Food is great, doesn't leave you with that overly heavy full feeling, you leave feeling just right.
Im giving 1 star ratings every time my time is wasted by bad service or technology that doesnt work. Cant call restaurants to order, and too many websites dont work properly. Its getting to be too common.
Spent 15 minutes filling out the order details to order directly from their online ordering site on foodbookings and it let me go thru entire process, to finally click submit and have a stupid prompt tell me "we dont offer pickup services right now."
I have stopped trying to order from places once my time is wasted because Im sick of getting frustrated trying to spend my money places.
If you havent been to the coconut downtown yet you're absolutely missing out on the Best Thai food in California and Nevada!
First id like to say how impressed i was that everything is fresh and made to order..i dont believe anything in that kitchen is frozen but the icecream.the veggies are all fresh ,they have a wide range of options for each dish weather its beef ,chicken ,pork, tofu, squid or shrimp, they definitely will have what you prefer to your liking..
Second, the restaurant is very clean and detailed by the staff daily.the staff is friendly and the owners rick and nan in my opinion really have given this community a real authentic Thai experience!
If your dining in and Rick or Nan is in the building ,say hello! Theyre a wonderful couple and they both work very hard to make the coconut
Downtown a regular stop for all of is here in Washoe county.....
Been to 5 thai restaurants in Reno, this one is #1. Highest quality ingredients, staff is very friendly. Fun location downtown. Loved the curry with advocado added.
Great food, great service, but the atmosphere and decor were lacking. It really wouldn't take that much to fine tune the bar area and make the interior just a bit more inviting. We'll be back for the food, but it will probably be takeout in the future.
Food: The curry dishes were delicious and the cheese wontons were perfect. All of the food was cooked perfectly.
Service: The wait staff were all quite friendly and the food came out quick and hot.
Ambience: Tables and chairs are plain. Bar area looks and feels dilapidated, and the chairs are uncomfortable and uneven.
Parking is shared by three restaurants so you'll likely have to walk a little if it's a warm weekend night.
Good restaurant overall but I'm tired of seeing so many Reno-area restaurants not put an effort into making their customers more comfortable.
Friendly service. I love the food especially vegan menus and I love the level of their spice. WARNING! level 5 is extremely spicy! Be guided accordingly 😅
Chill vibe unmetered parking on Sundays.
Great service. Very fresh and tasty Thai food with amazing vegan options. It’s reasonably priced too!
Great Thai food I've had in Reno. I couldn't find other one better than this one. Price is fair.
Best Thai food I've had in Reno so far. The drunken noodles are exceptional.
Green curry was perfect spicy sweet. Tom kha was on point. The basil beef was surprisingly light for what can be heavy dish.
Our server was very sweet and helpful. For atmosphere, it was very dead, but Sunday night after icy cold weekend near closing time probably explains that.
The only odd thing is when we walked in (we were only ones there), one of the employees who couldn't trouble himself to look up from phone, tells us without looking, to grab our own menus and sit anywhere. Later a man comes in for pick up and that same employee trys to hand him off three bags of food without even standing up or really even making contact. Then, all the other employees (including our nice server) were cleaning up to get ready for closing... and he just kept sitting there scrolling through his phone and never helping out. Not sure if he was off the clock, but i sure hope so. Because if he were my paid employee, he'd be outta there.
The food here is incredible. We love the vegan Yellow Curry with brown rice and the vegan Tom Yum soup. They also have great draft beers and Thai Iced Tea.
Very salty.
Great tasting Asian dishes at affordable prices.
Great little Thai spot in Reno. Very quick service; food came out hot and fast. Very large dinner portions; great value for the price. Went on a Wednesday night, and it was uncrowded. Only considerations would be that the appetizer was tiny and overpriced, the calamari was chewy, and while it was great Thai food, I wouldn’t say it was “the best”. Still, would definitely recommend.
Mali took great care of us. She was super friendly!!! The food was amazing. I will definitely be coming back.
Rose and Mali where outstanding
The BEST service and the food was to die for. One of the best Thai restaurants in Reno :)
They dont honor gluten free request, instead provide you gluten food
Waitstaff so friendly and the food was amazing!!
My go-to Thai place for sure! Always excellent service, great food, great prices, portions, and now I'm addicted to their Thai Iced Tea with coconut milk. Love this well located place! Thank you guys! See you soon.
First Impression - As said "First impression is the last impression". And, My first impression of this place was not good. Defenitely recommend this place.
After doing two laps around the area to find a parking spot, I walked up and sat at the bar for a quick meal. I waited for about 10 minutes and the waitress walked behind the bar and said “how can I help you?” I asked for a menu and she pointed to the front door and said they are over there. I walked out and they missed out on a large tab and great tip as I was starving.
Chicken pad Thai? Eh it's ok.
Slightly sweet but otherwise bland.
Small portion size for the price.
One staff member seemed nice and handled a phone order well, the other seemed to stare me down.
No tap to pay only chip card.
16 dollars.
Parking is hit or miss.
lack of tofu prep knocked a star off. was just added straight from package
Having been to the Sacramento midtown location, being in Reno for business I just had to stop in. I wanted to see if the Reno location would be as good as the 5-star Sacramento restaurant. IT IS! Super sweet to my daughter on her birthday
Good food
This is not authentic Thai at all. Definitely will not return.
Food is fantastic. We ordered spring rolls, green curry, garlic pepper chicken, & was all so tasty. Reasonable prices, & it was busy but food came out quickly.. good service from our waitress & mali. Would definitely recommend if your downtown!!!
Really tasty food and great service. One of the best Thai places that I have tried.
Ordered the green curry with fried tofu medium spice level, and the spring rolls. The green curry was delicious silky-smooth and was at the right spice level. The spring rolls were ok, although golden brown fried, inside the rice paper was soft. The staff was friendly. Overall I can recommend this place.
Great food!
Great Food and Great People!! 🔥
Ordered food from them and specifically instructed to add disposable silverware as I was in a hotel room with no car to go anywhere. They sent food without any silverware. The Uber guy did his job delivering. They failed to follow instructions. When I called them, they did not care and said they could not do anything.
I had to walk to a store away from the hotel and had to buy the silverware so I could eat the food. Which by that time had turned cold. All they had to do was read and follow the instructions. Seems they just don't care.
We visited Coconut Downtown for a bite of Thai food before seeing a play at the Pioneer. I tried the pineapple stir fry with chicken and my wife had the Pad Thai. Our meal was fantastic, and our server Molly was the best. Highly recommend A+, we will be back!
Hands down, the best Thai food in town!!! I lived in Chiang Mai, Thailand for almost a year and this is the closest thing to Chiang Mai food. The Kho Soi is amazing!!! If you like noodles and curry, curry is the best of both worlds mixed together in a perfect combo! Their chicken pot stickers are FANTASTIC! The eggplant, OMG, so flavorful and perfect! The fact that they have organic chicken and tofu really sets them apart. The staff is so sweet and accommodating! I love love them and the food!!!!
I was in Reno for the evening with my family and we were in search for a local restaurant for dinner. It was a gift to find this place. The owner, Mali, was fantastic and we were blown away by the meal. It was delicious! I would come back here for the Khao Soi alone.
Im so glad I finally decided to try this spot. Been passing by this restaurant so many times and stopped by for dinner tonight with a friend. You have to try this dish called Khao Soi. It's this noodle curry dish that has a pretty unique curry flavour, and highly recommend. One of my new fav spots in downtown Reno.
The customer service, taste of the food, speed of service, and variety were all excellent
Great food and great service! The Drunken Noodle is full of flavor, I get it every time I go!
Second time there, time to serve is good, try pad Thai, not so sweet, not so spicy, it's just perfect. Asked for canned IPA beers.
We ordered the pumpkin red curry and panang curry. Both are delicious and very generous portions! Our order came out in 10mins.
Excellent food! We saw the reviews and knew we needed to come by to see what all the fuss was about.
The avocado rolls and tom kha soup were fantastic. Customer service was also wonderful. I’ll definitely be returning.
Food was delicious and the staff was incredible. Will definitely be stopping here again if I'm back in Reno!
Will always go back for the yellow curry.
Nice and attentive customer service. While I enjoyed my basil stir-fry, it had a little too much salt. My husband’s flat rice noodle with vegetables had the right amount of sodium. We do plan to come back and just ask for low sodium. Thank you!
This is my favorite Thai restaurant in Reno! The Thai fried rice is my go-to. All of the appetizers are delicious and meals are very affordable. Mail is the best and is always so friendly. Mail remembers me and my friends & treats us like family! 10/10!!!!
love this place, best yellow curry in town
Great Thai place. The Thai tea, chicken red curry, and coconut ice cream were all excellent. Spice on the curry was what I wanted for 4/5. Would come again. Close to the river walk.
The food is great. Good luck getting the food tho. Terrible trying to order. Good luck getting a order in. Phone is never answered. Ridiculous. Joke.
Tried three entrees and wasn't really impressed by the flavor or ingredients. They seemed to lack the fresh herbs, roots, and vegetables characteristic of really good Thai food. I was impressed, however, with the mango and sticky rice with coconut ice cream. The mango and sticky rice were perfectly prepared and the ice cream was surprisingly good. I highly recommend it.
Service is arse. Stood by the door for 20 min and was never acknowledged. Was here for a pick up order what a joke
Fabulous place for Thai! Service very friendly and the food was so tasty! Try the Panang curry.
The yellow curry is terrific.
Excellent food cooked to perfection. The chef's could work anywhere in the world. They are the best. Superior service also.
Had yellow curry with pumpkin and shrimp added it was very yummy. The avocado cheese roll was good also. It was not very busy when we got there but picked up after we sat down and ordered.
Avocado Yellow Curry is AMAZING!
Excellent food and service. Food is fresh and prepared with great care. Highly recommend.
The food we received was delicious but we were missing rice. There is no way to contact the restaurant. Not accountable
Had lunch here before walking over to the auto museum. Service was friendly and prompt. We started with the pot stickers which were oh so tender. Worth ordering. On suggestion, we had the khao soi (curry noodle bowl). It was absolutely delicious and there was lots of it. We ended up ordering a side of rice to add to the left over broth since it was too good to leave behind. We did share with our server that some additional noodles and veggies would be a nice touch, but it didn't diminish our enjoyment of lunch in the least. We would eat here again.
