Just my another cold day so I think I deserve something soup make me feel toasty so I choose going to Thai garden and ordered Rice noodles beef combination (Pho beef) and I very satisfied my noodles bowl pretty big bowl a lot of meet the soup is so savory and aroma , it’s make my day , also I choose Crab Rangoon to be with the meal crab Rangoon have a lot of filling big piece so creamy come with sweet and sour sauce. I really recommend it!
This evening my husband and I enjoyed a wonderful meal that started with Thai Tea and Thai Coffee with Thai Steamed Dumplings and Crispy Spring Rolls, followed with delicious entree of Thai Garden fried Rice with Chicken Beef, then topped off with Crispy Wrapped Fried Bananas…truly just step aside Bananas Foster! This totally outranks you. Jenny the proprietor could not have been more kind and welcoming. Please give it a try. I know you won’t be disappointed!
Let me share a new find in Springfield Missouri - The Thai Garden.
This Thai food hits differently and I am in love with the flavors, the staff and the love that goes into this food.
First off let me say it was a little emotional to go into Tong’s without seeing Tong come up to me with that big smile and great me. For those of you that don’t know Chef Tong moved back to Thailand to build and orphanage with three help of Bakers Creek Seeds and is doing very noble things back home. Yes we will all miss him and his adventurous stories but has left the restaurant in good hands with the new owners.
The new owners created a restaurant called Thai Garden. They left the ambience the same and even left a picture of Tong himself as you walk in the door.
Jenny is the owner of the new place and boy does she care about good food. On my first visit on Sunday I had the “Green Curry” and “Crab Rangoon”. Typically I do not order crab rangoon but hers just looked different on the post that I was seeing on socials. She makes them by hand and fries them fresh and they are really good. Don’t be expecting anything Gourmet, but they hit different than most crab Rangoon in the area.
The green curry is a little bit thinner that I typically get at a Thai restaurant, but the flavors are on point. You can taste the authentic passion and love behind each dish. I got to know Jenny, which is the owner and she is absolutely amazing. My server was “Ice” and she is a true gem. Very humble and very quick to serve you.
On my second visit, which was the very next day lol I ordered the chicken noodle soup which warmed up my soul.
Do not be expecting anything fancy, just expect good Thai food with lots of love. I did not eat the fish, but I’m very excited too. This is a different dish that they bring to Springfield that is native to their home. I got the picture off of Facebook From somebody that posted in the Eat Springfield group which is how I stumbled across this gem.
I really want to say thank you to the creators Eat Springfield Group and all the posts. It is groups like that that help people like me find good food.

I got the Tom kha khai soup and it is wonderful! Best flavor portion size “combo” that you can get delivered as far as I know. I have ordered this soup from every Thai restaurant in town. it has pieces of lemongrass and I suspect galangal root.. Very flavorful not bland like another reviewer had said. I do wish it came with a side of steamed rice. I messaged them to find out if their crab Rangoon’s are sweet cause I don’t like sweet. sweet dipping is more than enough sweet for me. I haven’t heard back yet though. This is the second time I’ve had Thai tea. The First time from this place. I’m guessing all Thai places make that tea VERY sweet. Had a little too much ice in it But it’s all good. I’ll be back!
Have been looking for a new thai place since we moved out to the area over a year ago from the West Coast. Thai Garden did not disappoint! The heat (we love a level 3-4) was spot on. Everything we had was so good. Fried basil rice, crying tiger appetizer and the Hot Pot. So yum! Definitely coming back. They are brand new, just opened a few weeks ago! Give them a go! The only pic I got was the custard on sticky rice and yep, that was good too.
My wife and I ended up at Thai Garden on Valentines Day for our Friday date night. We had never been here before and though we would give it a try. The menu has a lot of choices and was very tough to decide.
We had crab rangoon, sweet & sour crispy chicken stir fry with shrimp, Pad Thai and a Thai Tea. The crab rangoon was very good. The sweet & sour crispy chicken stir fry with shrimp was good, for being low spice it had some good kick to it. It could have used a little bit more flavor overall. The Pad Thai was good but could also use a little more flavor. Food was plentiful and the Thai Tea was very good.
It was pretty busy that night and seemed to be a little under staffed so we did have to wait a little bit to get the check to pay. Nothing that would keep us from going back though.
We would definitely go back and some of the other items on the menu.
We were welcomed in for Valentine’s dinner without a reservation after we had to make a last minute change of plans.
My wife commented that the decor was much like restaurants in China.
The sampler appetizers were crisp and delicious. The chicken satay had a good flavor.
The seafood fried rice was spicier than what I prefer but the flavor was so good that happily ate it anyway.
The red curry was some of the best I’ve tasted and the chicken was more tender than I’ve had in other local restaurants.
The portions were generous and still tasty when leftovers were reheated the next day.
Looking forward to returning to try some other dishes.
Good place/food/ atmosphere 👍👍👍
Great food and very hospitable! Will definitely come again!
The food sadly was not good. No flavor or too hot. The service was kind but not fast enough. They tried really hard to make things right but the repeat food was not flavorful either.
The food here is so delicious and authentic. Freshly made to order. The chicken satay was so good... I can't wait to go back!
Best red curry I’ve had in town. Crab Rangoon were crispy and fresh and filled with plenty of crab. Service was great and the chefs came out to the table to check that everything was good. Definitely going back.
When you get the food Thai hot here, it is actually Thai hot, unlike many other places! The food was delicious, the spice was on point, the owner was super friendly, and it was a pleasure to talk to her. Next time I go, I will probably have to get a level 4/5 spice because I was dying but I couldn't stop eating it because it was so delicious. The owner and a server offered to lower the spice level for me, but my pride wouldn't allow it. I am looking forward to my next meal here when my travels bring me back through.
Friendly staff, good service, with food to match. Nice warm atmosphere. I've enjoyed the frog legs, cashew crisby chicken, along with the thai custard with sticky rice.
Food was okay. Everything was on the bland side and the prices are on the high side. We tried a few appetizers and I had the cashew crisp chicken. The hot tea was good.
First time here. Everything is so good ! The owner is really sweet. She even made some dish that even not in the menu for me. Will definitely come back !
So fresh and the service is top notch!!
Yum alert
Great food great service
The best yellow curry! Such responsive owners. Soup is perfect as is the peanut dressing on the salad. Don’t miss this.
If you want delicious, fresh Thai food, this is the place to go!
Great food and friendly staff. I recommend you try this place. I really did like it.

A restaurant that is a true hidden gem in the 417. From the first greeting to walking out the experience was superb. Chef and staff truly care about their craft. Food was delicious and served promptly. Staff made sure everything was up to par. You have to try the fresh spring rolls and pineapple fried rice. Out of this word 12/10
The most bland Thai food I have ever experienced. I decided to not even eat the soup after trying it. My husbands green curry was so watery and didn't taste like curry. Giving them 2 stars because the employees were welcoming.

I'm a visitor from North Carolina and this is the best Thai food here. I love everything about this place. It is really authentic Thai food as you can see there are many different menu and the workers are also Thai. On the table, they have real flowers, beautiful silverware layout, and the presentation of the food was very beautiful. The price is very reasonable for the taste and portion size that they give. Also they have a lunch special that is only $10 that comes with a soup.
This food reminded me of my home in Thailand and the server was so kind and easy to communicate with.
This place is 100% somewhere to go while visiting or casually eating. We will definitely be back!

New owner is delightfully engaging. Food was terrific! Give this place a try. You will not be disappointed!
Lovely Thai restaurant! The owner was so sweet, visiting with us gift several minutes. Excellent food and service! Highly recommend!

You may look at the 5 stars on the pin (one of them anyway--the place just changed names) and think this place has been review botted. Having tasted the food, I don't think that's the case. The food was unbelievable.
Karens be warned--there is not a hint of Americanization in this place. The fried rice, normally a bland dish, was deeper, richer, and more full-bodied than most places make a curry; and the Pad Thai had so much liquid seasoning it almost smelled alcoholic. If your average Tacos and Tequilas soccer mom ate here she'd probably think she'd been poisoned--and that's a good thing.
What shocked me the most is that we saw just as many white people eating here as Asians. While that may be due to the few dishes made with local favorites--catfish and the like--I think it's proof positive that your bland, Americanized cashew chicken doesn't have to be the norm. Give flavor a chance--you'll never go back to your old place.
Very friendly and accommodating!
The food was very delicious and the service was outstanding.
We decided to try after Tong’s closed. Portions were large and very good. We will be back!
Delicious Yammy Yammy
I recommend the best Thai food in this town!!
Love this place, foods awsome. Tony handed the reins over, but it’s still fantastic!!
Food so Good, I will be back
Wonderful tasting real Thai food! My favorite dish is the siam beef. If you love Tong’s, make sure you get your fill bc he may be retiring soon & going back to Thailand. We will miss you Tong. Thank you so much for providing such amazing food and service over the years.
I've gotten some of the best Thai food here.
First time I have liked Thai. I have had Thai in restaurants from Hawaii to Virginia and many places in between. This was by far the best I have ever had. Veggies and chicken were cooked perfectly. The owner was very nice, we had a great conversation after the food was made, and he even walked me out to help me with my to-go order. The restaurant was clean, welcoming, and tastefully decorated.
I ordered Green Curry
The food was some of the best tasting cuisine I have eaten in Springfield & Mr. Tong was an amazing host who went over and beyond to make us feel like friends! Great place!
I used to eat here all the time 20 years ago, and it was always amazing. I'd moved away, so I was excited to see it was still open and couldn't wait to be back. I walked in with my teenage daughter, who loves Thai food, telling her she would love this place. We stood at the host station for a few minutes. An employee came around the corner and looked at us, I said "hello," and the employee did not say hello back or even acknowledge us. He just walked right past us! It was so rude! My daughter, who has been a hostess and waitress, gave me a confused looked, and we decided to walk back out. We then went to Haruno, where we were given excellent service and food! I was extremely disappointed with my experience here. I'm sure the food is still good, but unfortunately I will not be back to try it again.
The atmosphere felt authentic, but the food did not taste authentic at all. I got the crunchy chicken with garlic basil sauce, but i think they gave me teriyaki chicken instead. It was so salty I couldn’t even finish it. My boyfriend got the curry chicken, but that also wasn’t good. Both of our chicken were very flubbery. It tasted like reheated leftovers. We both threw our leftovers away.
Food was frozen from a bag, pedestrian at best.
Good curry’s and Thai food. Seafood Pad Thai is always a winner! Good crispy egg rolls.
All I can say is I got food poisoning 6 hrs after after eating here and was sick for several days. The people I went out to lunch with did not get sick. But they both had a martini before their meal, possibly affecting the food borne pathogens.
The best Thai food I have ever had. Delicious and the service was excellent along with the waiter and cook.
It’s pretty good for Springfield.. That being said the food here doesn’t have the normal bright flavors associated with legit Thai food. It’s kind of like Thai food “Midwesternized”.
Great Thai food. Exquisite flavors. The real deal.
Just wanted to say thank you for having us all for my birthday dinner. Everyone loved the food and the service. The atmosphere is amazing..
Went to try yesterday. Service was horrible 😫 Owner was very negative using very fowl language and very unprofessional. I went because I heard the crab fried rice was the best in town, wasn't real crabmeat. Rice was tacky and hard. Food tasted old. Very small portion for a large. Was 16.00.
Very disappointed in the whole experience. 😕 Just terrible. Thumbs down to Tongs never again.
Fix your hours. Nobody wants to show up after checking your google and you close an hour earlier
Best thai food I've ever had.
HAIR IN FOOD
I know accidents happen, but the cook had zero remorse, stating that I was almost finished with my meal anyway
I've had the pleasure of dining at Tong's Thai Restaurant on multiple occasions, and I can confidently say that every visit has been nothing short of extraordinary. This family-owned gem has won my heart, not only for its consistently delicious dishes but also for the genuine warmth and hospitality that makes me feel like a cherished family member. Furthermore, I must give a special shout-out to the exceptional waiter, Guy, whose exceptional service enhances the entire dining experience.

A particular highlight of my visits to Tong's Thai Restaurant is the exceptional service provided by Guy. He goes above and beyond to ensure that your dining experience is memorable. His genuine and friendly demeanor adds to the overall warm ambiance of the restaurant. Guy's attentiveness and professionalism make each visit feel special, and I truly appreciate his dedication to delivering outstanding service.
In summary, Tong's Thai Restaurant is a culinary treasure that consistently amazes with its delectable Thai dishes and a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel like a part of the family. Owner came and chatted with us a bit. Service was fantastic and food was delicious!
Very good. Try Spicy Thai if you enjoy spicy food.
Had the "Tongrito". Amazing mix of Hispanic and Thai food. Absolutely wonderful. Highly recommend! The Thai Tea is delicious. The serves was outstanding. This was out first time here...can not wait to come back and bring others!! Love love love
Tong's is hands-down the best Thai restaurant in the Springfield area, combining mouth-watering flavor with just the right amount of heat in their meals. The staff are knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and funny. There's limited seating, so if you have a group over 4, it's a good idea to get a reservation.
Great experience! Yummy food.
Hot is quite hot. Good food - can't wait to come back and try something else.
Delicious food, and prices are around $10ish range. Service is fine. Nothing to complain. Atmosphere is fine.
Food was delicious each time I've been here. Nothing wrong with the service. Atmosphere is warm.
The Drunken Noodles with beef are amazing!! We like to add the garlic sauce with ours. The server recommended it and he was exactly right. Some of the appetizers weren’t for us (tried new things) but the items we did order were outstanding. Already been back again!
Service was prompt, food was excellent, and the atmosphere was nice! Great Crab Rangoon. I had the yellow curry with lots of chicken and vegetables, the medium heat was perfect for my palate.
If you don't want it done wrong, get it from Tongs!
Ok who forgot to tell me about Tong's? I mean that is just cruel! If I had known about Tong's, this review would be five years old by now! I'm glad tho, because I've, unfortunately, had a recent rash of one star reviews. When I started writing reviews, I swore to myself I would not inject more negativity into a world that's already bursting at the seams with it. However, some experiences are so dreadful they need to be shared as a warning to others, in order to try to help them avoid a similar experience. I felt obligated to break a promise I made to myself multiple times and it was getting me down but now I get to write another, well deserved, five star review!
Okay you're probably wondering "what about Tong's?". What about it? After sixteen years of industry work and 15 more years of appreciation, I've experienced a lot of culinary delights. I have enjoyed many delicious sensations brought on by a lot of various culinary practices from across the globe. I'll put it like this: my taste buds are jaded and they're used to just about everything. I'm hard to surprise. Tong's literally gave my mouth sensations that I had never experienced before. My wife and I ordered a salad, appetizer and two entrees, and the flavor combinations used in the entrees (all so So SO delicious) were so different from the other, it was surreal. I tried the entree she ordered after taking a few bites of mine and everything just kind of faded away as I got lost in the flavors, it seemed like none of the same seasonings were used however both dishes had flavors that would change and evolve in your mouth, while you chewed! We talked about it while we ate, she's an industry veteran as well. You know that after glow feeling new couples get after they romance each other? Well I have a quite similar after glow feeling from eating Tong's food lol. It IS that good! I have so many words at my disposal: I'm a published journalist (75 + articles, but that's an entirely different story), but all of them miserably fail to impart how good this food is. I'm speechless. Anyway, if you don't know, you should enrich your life by finding out. Who knows? Maybe you'll find your purpose in life! Maybe you'll quit drinking! Maybe your depression will be cured! Maybe you'll invent faster than light travel! I don't know, but I do know you'll be feeling better off in general after eating at Tong's! Go tomorrow!
Spicy Hot Siam beef was very good along with the crab ragoon appetizer we had. Will be going back for more menu items!
Pleasant service, but I don’t understand the 5 star reviews. I guess if you’ve never had Thai food you’d think this was it idk. The food is salty, and not prepared well.
The very best place in Springfield. Love the ambiance, the frienliness of the owner and staff. Prompt service. Best Grouper ever !!! I can never wait to go back.
So good!!
Always have had a great experience here! This place deserves to be way busier than it is! Most entrees are only $10-$18!
Loved it
Best Thai food in Springfield!
A newly found gem (they've been in business for many years). Food was fantastic service was top notch. We will be back.
Absolute best and such a solid guy! Love some Tongs!!!
Tong is a LEGEND. Go for the food, stay for the stories. Best Thai in the 417.
Best Thai food around!
Pad thai was amazing. The fish and sian beef were also amazing!
Mr Tong is a handful. He has cared for my family and I, since we arrived SGF. My wife loves the Pad-Thai(spicy), I always do the Thai fried rice, spicy too.
Also my co workers have also loved it here. Thanks Mr Tong!
This place slap's and Tong is an absolute legend!!! 100% recommend this place!
Food was phenomenal!! Service was amazing and Tong is super personable and the funniest and most characteristic person I've met in so long, Tong is a legend and I aspire to be like him one day, until next time!
This is my favorite Thai place in Springfield. I used to go to Everyday Thai a lot, however I discovered that Tongs food is very similar AND much cheaper than every day Thai. Tong and his staff are very nice and use super fresh ingredients!
A few of my favorites are their crab
- Rangoon's - best I’ve ever had.
- Tom Kah Guy Coconut soup - with the veggies were chopped a bit smaller but other than that, the flavor and portion size is great
- Pad Thai - always enough to take some home. I personally love the chicken and shrimp.
Thanks so much Tong! My favorite place in Springfield.
Monday afternoon after Christmas very few Asian restaurants were open but Tong's was. Had to wait awhile to get our carryout... I think they might have been understaffed. It was worth the wait. Everything was excellent! Would go again!
Great food and service! We will definitely be back.
Owner openly talks about how much he hates Islam in front of his customers. It made me very uncomfortable eating there. I definitely won’t be returning since my wife happens to be Muslim. I was so off put by him so willfully bashing a whole group of people to someone he doesn’t even know, that I don’t even know if the food was any good.
Very friendly staff, the food was top of the line! I will absolutly be a repeat customer!
Great food, and great service!
We had not been here in several years.
Oh my! It was so good.
A word of warning -- if you order your dish Thai hot 🔥, it will be hot 🥵! This is one restaurant that is not afraid to spice it up!
It won't be years before we return.
Oh yeah, the service was great, too.
First time trying this cuisine and I was absolutely impressed. The flavor was spectacular and I will definitely be back. However, let me warn you... Tong's "Jar of Fire" sauce is no joke! Dabble if you dare, but I promise you, a dabble is all you will need!
My husband and I would really recommend this place. The owner was very friendly and helpful . There was just something about the owner that makes you want to come back. He took the time to explain the pictures on the wall he had in his business. We ordered to go, I dont know very many places that will ask you if you want something to drink while you wait for a to go order. We went at closing time and was still not rushed out of his business.
So good!!! The owner came out and spoke with us. Super friendly guy! I'm not sure how we missed the hidden gem, other than it's just that! Very good authentic cuisine with a fusion item as well. Great place to sit back and take your time over dinner.
By far the best Thai food you can get, and Tong is the best host you could hope for. Definitely order the fresh spring rolls!
Old decor, sticky tables, and over cooked food. I won't be back. There are several other options for Thai in Springfield I'd recommend all of them over this place.
Best restaurant in town. No question.
Great food. Very friendly staff. Areas all very clean. Fair prices.
Outstanding water!!!
Kept me happy and hydrated
Bartender was out waiter and upon ordering beers, they all split onto my lap when he was bringing them over.
Gave replacements and removed them off the bill, but considering there were 2 other people completely able to serve us, im unsure why this older gentleman needed to do so. Don't plan on going back. Food was pricey.
Always excellent food and service.
Man, what can I say? The food is insane, but the waiters and Tong himself make the experience one of the best in Springfield. Larry Redmond introduced me to it, and I will introduce all my friends to it as well.
Amazing food staff and service!
Absolutely wonderful food!! My favorite is the grouper with the garlic Basil sauce. My husband loves the Bangkok crispy duck. The bold and spicy shrimp is also excellent. Delicious fresh vegetables served with all the entrees. Have been eating here since it opened and have never been disappointed. Tong is a gracious host and chef.
Eat there often, always great food, really good thia cooking!
Very good pad thai with quick service!
Loved it
Excellent Food! Excellent service! Not too spicy I can go from medium to hot next time. I will be back to try more of Tong's unique or traditional dishes.
Don’t go here if you have a baby or little child - they don’t have high chairs. Wish I could rate the food but unfortunately they can’t accommodate all guests.
Awesome food.
Amazing food and service. Highly recommend.
Delicious food, great atmosphere, and wonderful service!
Went here because Everyday but Monday Thai was closed. They didn't ask if we wanted drinks, just brought out water. Ordered shrimp and they gave me chicken. And a dead fly in the hot sauce on the table. Decor reminds me of those uppity Italian joints that don't taste good.
It wasn't our jam.
My family and I went there around 5 today! It was my birthday and I wanted Thai food. So I read the reviews and thought we would give it a try. We got there and the door was locked so we figured they were closed. I heard the door unlock so we went in, I was like Hi the gentleman didn’t say a word then he is like how many? I said 5 and he sighed, I need to set up a table. So he did and told us go up in the corner. Okay I am beginning to get a little upset at this time. He brings us waters and doesn’t even say a word. I looked at my family and said I am not even interested anymore. It was the most uncomfortable thing I have ever witnessed. Needless to say we left and went to another restaurant that was happy to see us. I definitely give it a zero for everything. We understand places are short staffed and things happen but no excuse for this at all.
Did not feel welcomed sat an looked at the menu for a few minutes no one came to wait on us got up an left they didn’t even know we left.
Best food and atmosphere I’ve found in Springfield
Tong’s Thai is on par with the other Thai options in Springfield. The Todd Mun with the sweet and sour sauce was appetizing. The Pad Thai and Thai Eggplant were delicious. Even the iced water tasted like it was premium. The waiter was very friendly and made sure we enjoyed our meal. Also, the owner has a nice backstory that is displayed on the walls of the restaurant. Overall, an enjoyable experience.
Stopped in for a late lunch. The first waiter was helpful, but a bit terse. Not actually rude, but he was definitely scrambling before they closed down after lunch service. Our second waiter was much more polite. The food was quite good and was reasonably priced.
Good food. Good people.
Best thai food in springfield! Been eating here over 10 years. Tong's the best.
Great food, my first time to eat there. My food was great.
Food was amazing and the staff was super nice and very welcoming. Will definitely be back soon
It was really fresh and tasty will be going back
Awesome food and a nice place to eat! My favorite dish is the pad Thai chicken and it's delicious.
Amazing restraunt!! I had the pad thai with chicken and some spring rolls. They were amazing. The sweet and sour sauce they have is homemade and tastes great. Plus the guy who owns the place has a really cool story and some great pics. Well worth the time and money!!
Tongs is my go to place i had the Grouper it is my favorite gre as t place for lunch and dinner truly authentic Thai food nothing like it anywhere around the state
The food was Awsome
Great food. Great service. Going
Tong is very nice and a very funny guy. Planning to go again soon.
Great service, relaxing atmosphere, great food. You gotta try the fried bananas! Yummy!
Tong's is Springfield's #1 Thai Restaurant for a reason, food and service is excellent. Clean, nice, comfortable place where the owner is always working. He waits tables, cooks, and greets his guests like family. It is not at all uncommon for the owner to set with guests and talk cause he knows them over the span of decades as repeat guests. He even has childern homes he supports back home in Thailand to help children in need. I think besides the really good food, his place is made special by really caring about people and how he treats you.
The food was decent. Not the best thai we've had, but definitely not the worst.
Great food. Closest to the real deal this side of the Pacific Ocean
Excellent service, attentive waiter, owner very hand-on with every aspect of the restaurant. The food was very well presented and extremely tasty. Made me want more. 😋
Tong's is always the best. It doesn't matter what entree you choose it is abundant in flavor and portion! Thanks for another great experience Tong!
Called in a takeout order 35 minutes before closing. The staff were polite and the food was delicious. The house salad included red and green peppers and lots of veggies. Pad thai was delicious. We will definitely be back.
The food and service were great!
Great food, wonderful atmosphere, and very attentive staff.
At 9:08 pm, we walked into Tong's. The hours on the website and the door said they close at 10 pm. The owner came over and asked if we wanted to eat there. What?! Why else would we be there? Patrons should not be made to feel bad for walking in when the place has almost an hour until it closes. He said the kitchen had closed. Needless to say we will NEVER step foot in that place again.
Seventeen years after first eating here, when other Thai restaurants have come and gone, Tong's is still the gold standard for excellent Thai food in Springfield. Cannot recommend enough!
Fabulous food! Excellent and friendly service! Will be going back for sure!
Best Thai food hands down...!!!!
I'm leaving this review after a handful of meals at Tong's. Everything has been consistently amazing, from the server to the amazing food to the owner himself! Highly recommended!
