Spiced-up Northern Indian fare plus Chinese & Thai fusion dishes in cozy quarters that fill up fast.
Delicious, cozy, and welcoming restaurant! Absolutely adore this place—you can feel the love when you walk in! The food is AMAZING and the staff is wonderful! LOVED the chicken tikka masala, the samosa chaat, and garlic naan (perfect amount of softness and crispiness)! Will definitely be back!!😍 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Food was good, not exactly as great as the reviews, but maybe because I ordered just one entree and flatbread.
The guy serving was a gem, excellent hospitality. However considering there was only one very efficient and hardworking person waiting on all the tables, the service was slow , hopefully it was an exception today and they have more staff regularly. Looking forward to visiting again.
High Fives!
i was traveling down the road, just minding my own my own affairs, when chili and curry caught me unaware.
i am glad i followed my instincts, this place is a gem!
my order:
chicken vindaloo with a request for spicy.
and drums of heaven.
i found something to do for the 1/2 hour estimated time while they prepared this fabulous food.
always take it as a good sign they make the freshest stewed delicacies.
who am i to say they are the best?
i am just gonna do what we all gotta do, Eat!
but i can for certain say they did an excellent job making the food, and undoubtedly care for every dish that leaves their kitchen.
when i am back next year for work.
i will return a few times to check other offerings from this top notch establishment.
Ordered Tom Yum soup and Thai fried rice (explicitly mentioned Spicy). Food came out bland within 5 minutes of us ordering.
Mentioned it to the staff. They did take food in for consideration.
Brought the food back the Soup tasted a lot better, While Rice was still lacking flavour and even salt.
Have been here before and have always been happy with the food.
Absolutely in love with this place. I went in with a vegetarian friend, who didn't enjoy it as much as me. So for all those of you who are vegetarian, they don't have too many options. The ambiance made up for it, she says.
Their lunch buffet is only on weekdays and they charge around 10 per person, which I think is a fantastic price, for the quality of food. The number of dishes were limited, but they had the best of items, at-least on the day we went in. Definitely going again.
Also, on random days, I crave their mutton biriyani - absolutely amazing.
Food is always good. Service is the best.

Delicious food amazing ppl.
Try it out
Had dinner here recently and it was ok. Good but not special. Felt like everything needed a touch more salt to lift the flavors.

Butter chicken and Szechuan chicken with garlic naan all taste great but are not presumed as healthy foods.
The atmosphere was great. Nice small place with great service. The food was outstanding. Great job and I will be going back very soon
We had a good time
I ordered the Tom Yum soup. It was the worst I’ve ever had . They used tiny poor quality shrimps that people use as bait to catch fish. taste was horrible. In fact, it had no taste. I assume all the other food will also be tasteless. I would not eat at this place as the quality of food and ingredients is very very low.
The price for that indian food is great compared to other indian food spots in Hicksville
Food is delicious, fast service and grt atmosphere plus parking is easy.
Food is succulent, flavorful, and so appetizing, especially the Indian Chinese menu. Staff is so courteous and helpful !!
Shankar is just very helpful while ordering. And of course, Kumar, the owner, is simply the best!
Very authentic we loved it . Must try
This place is a hidden gem. It is a must when you want Indian food. I love coming here with my family. Chicken tiki masala is the best. Mango lassi is also very good and garlic naan is a must in your order. I have tried other places around Long Island and Queens and this place is still the very best. Their service is exceptional. They are very attentive
Worse place ever, they made we wait 1 hour for soup. There are plenty of Indian restaurants in Hicksville I suggest going there
Horrible wait staff. Went on a Tuesday night with hardly any customers in the restaurant and the waiter still had a hard time taking my order correctly. I asked for the spicy peppers instead of the bell peppers in my chicken Karahi he said sure we can do that and ordered goat bhuna. He came back with chicken Karahi with the damn bell peppers in it and no goat bhuna. I waited and thought the goat will follow shortly which never arrived. When I asked where my goat dish was he said he thought I was just asking about the goat dish! I mean what??? Is this for real ??? Very disappointed with the whole experience. Food was just okay
Best fish Tika
Excellent service and food “momos”
Service is always good, food however has definitely declined. Even Some of the decor is gone now ☹️
We had just moved back from Brooklyn after 3 years and did take out from our favorite place and it was HORRENDOUS. they’ve changed ownership and it’s so sad how downhill it has gone.
We've ordered a bunch of trays for our engagement party, and everybody at the party LOVED the food there. They all asked where we got it from. All the food was fresh and delivered on time with the Sterno's and chafing dish set up by them. I would highly recommend them
Eating here since they opened. Still fantastic
Great food very fresh and tasty! The service is really good. The waiter was very kind and quick!
Did an excellent job on taking such good care of our needs ( spice level, cleaning the table on time and the all details ) I wish they had the Indian Taj Mahal 🍺 beer that goes so well with the food!
I will be a frequent client here!
Thank you!
Disappointed. Just tasted tomato puree in malai kofta and navratan korma was lacking in taste.
Absolute best chicken biryani in all of Long Island
I only got takeout from here but in the future id love to have a sit down meal here. Super cozy spot and the guy who helped me was super nice. Chicken Makhani was to die for as well!! Def gonna make this a frequent spot!
The food is great here. If you are looking for authentic North Indian food, this is the spot. They do not serve alcohol on premise. However, they allow you to bring your own bottle. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because they forgot a dish I ordered. When I reminded them of it, they bought it out quickly and didn't let the peas cook thoroughly. It was hard peas in this dish. I have had their Mattar paneer in the past so I know what to expect. Needless to say, I will be back.
Low quality food, not good service. Too expensive for only 3 items. Extra fee for non-existent service
The food was amazing!!! I loved the atmosphere so much. The service was also great. Shankar made sure to take care of my party and gave us good recommendations.
Always a great dinner. Well worth the wait to get inside! Definitely get there Manchurian Cauliflower appetizer! Totally delicious! Service always friendly and great even when crowded. The 'Old Monk' beer goes great with the dinner choices.
EDIT:
They lost their chef and have gone downhill. Very sad for what was a great restaurant.
One of the worst place for food chef don’t know how to cook karahi paneer tastless lot of shahi paneer gravy in karahi paneer when I call them and make a complaint person said my manager will call you no one give me call irresponsible staff never again
Mediocre food with late service. Kept waiting for 35 minutes for starters and another 20 for main course to arrive. Portion size isn’t great either. Only saving grace was the paneer and bread basket that night. Schezwan noodles, fried rice, mutton gravy were all average.
My favorite Indian spot in LI. Great food all the time, cozy spot. Only gripe it is a small restaurant so during busy hour you can have a long wait. But the wait is wort it.
Ordered some food for takeout (chicken fried rice / Schezwan noodles / chicken lollipop all the food was on point, they serve best Indo Chinese in Hicksville. I love the food & the people
I ordered from this place the other day. I ordered Lamb Rogan Josh, Chicken Tikka Masala, Chana Saag, and Aloo Gobi.
ALL of the dishes were bland (so much so that the food lacked the basic ingredients that create flavor in Indian food). This was very surprising to me considering the reviews. Will not be ordering from here again for the time being but hope they do better for those who genuinely love Indian food and is looking for a great eating experience.
Great every time I get takeout, whatever I get food it is consistently prepared every time. My go to is the Methi Chicken but I've also had chicken Makhani and Vindaloo and those were great as well.
I enjoyed the food here. Highly recommend the hakka noodles and most of the appetizers as well. We went on a very cold day, and there was a constant breeze coming in from the door opening repeatedly. Maybe a little heater inside would make it a bit more comfortable. Overall great chef and food!
High Fives!

Great food and quick service. The waiter was very helpful with suggestions and questions we had about the food.
In my experience the service & the atmosphere is great but unfortunately the food is not so much. Not much flavor & too salty.
Best restaurant so far. Loved the ambience, costumer service, food. Must try their Daall. Loved it
Delicious food
Had a wonderful meal with great service. It's a nice warm atmosphere inside. Got the Chicken Biryani, Chicken Tikka Masala, Mango Lassi and Bread Basket - Naan, Garlic Naan, Onion Kulcha. Chicken was moist and not dry in either dish. Highly recommend visiting. Pricing was very fair.
solid place. most of the time the meat is fresh, once in a while they might have some dry meat,..nobody is perfect. But sauces are always terrific and one, if not the best in Hicksville.
Great food.
Disaster food sucks. No flavor is only good for apitisers, not for the main course
Good service, delicious food 😋
Always a great dining experience. The food is delicious. They will make it with whatever spice level you like.
Had the chicken Tikka masala. Menu stated cooked in Tandoor which never happened. Small space with friendly service. Naan was great but main dish fell short of "tandoor" experience.
The food tasted absolutely stale. The mixed grill doesn’t have much variety. Majority consists of the red tikka Kababs. Would definitely love to see more variety and taste. We ordered mild and still the dishes were super spicy. Regret to say that the place has lost its charm and taste, which at one time delivered delicious food. Not sure we’re gonna order again👎 Highly disappointed 👎😞😞
First time I've had Indian food I absolutely loved it and would come back in a heartbeat.
Only place to eat indo chinese
Some of the best Thai and Indian food I've ever had. Spicy and authentic, not "Americanized". Place is small so there is always a wait but it's worth it.
Updated 5/2023: Not the same as it used to be. Has lost its charm completely. The food is bland, my vindaloo had no spice at all. It's no longer worth the trouble finding parking nearby to go here.
So many choices in Hicksville, they need to step up their game
ok, this is the best chindianthai food you'll ever eat. i adore this place. the service is out of this world (you just want to bundle that sweet woman up and take her home with you!). chicken lollipops are the best thing i've ever had in an indian place. the little guy with the mustache is a bit odd (the one who looks like the call center manager from the show outsourced) but all go!!!!!
Update: This place changed hands and isn’t really that good anymore
Editing my 5 star review after 6 years. Food is disgusting and reheated. I don't know how Indian food can be made so flavorless. The meat smelled awful like its rotting.I took a few bites and decided to stop. Don't want to be ill for the rest of the week. Never coming back here. It's a shame because this used to be a good restaurant.
Our trio ventured into Chili & Curry and, boy, were our taste buds in for a wild ride! The moment we entered, we knew we'd struck gold. The décor screamed "Welcome to India," and the staff? Friendliest bunch you'll ever meet!
We kickstarted our gastronomic escapade with appetizers that had us all going, "Oh. My. Yum!" Crispy, crunchy, and packed with flavors we couldn't even pronounce. We were hooked!
Now, the main course? A veritable explosion of taste that had our tongues doing the cha-cha! Each dish was a delightful mystery, loaded with spices that played a game of hide-and-seek with our palates. We couldn't name the dishes if we tried, but who cares? It was culinary nirvana!
The cherry on top? The staff, always ready to pamper us and make us feel like royalty. Kudos, Chili & Curry!
Grab your friends and head there – you can thank us later!
Haven't been here in 2 years but my fav spot just closed down so I thought I'd grab some Biryani for my co worker and I and I was very dissatisfied. It wasn't great long grain basmati but more like white rice, mushy and yellow but with no sign of traditional biryani spices. It was all yellow like colored Spanish rice and not traditional with spats of yellow and white peeking out. The chicken was bonless breasts barely spiced and seemed baked in a regular over and not a tandoor. The entire thing lacked flavor and was terribly bland. The only thing that was even somewhat decent was the Nan. I would expect this from a mall spot or lunch truck but not a long standing Indian restaurant in Hicksville of all places.
First we asked for vegetarian momos and they said no.. Garlic naan panneer butter masala is super. But veg biryani has no taste and not even salt. There was a smell before the hand washing area which I can still feel now. As if everything that was eaten had gone somewhere, there was such an infatuated smell.
the garlic chili noodles with chicken is so good. be careful if you ask for spicy to me it was veryyyyy spicy. Its really good everything.
Excellent food. Excellent service. Excellent ambiance. Best mango lassi in New York.
Food quality has gone down so much.. chilli garlic noodles were bland and the chicken had no flavor. Explains why tables were empty. I was so used to the restaurant always filling up for dinner service but the food explained why that’s changed…
Nice little place. Food is Halal. Owner is from Bangladesh. Recently purchased and kept all the old workers including the chef.
Best food ever 😋
everything is perfectt
Food and service was excellent. The place is very small. We weren’t allowed to bring in our stroller because there was no room for it so I had to put it back in the car. It also gets very busy and loud. I couldn’t hear the person across from me. In the future I would probably only do take out from here.
Dont eat here!! My husband and I walked in and was greeted in such a rude manner. The host just said "CLOSED" without an explanation as to why. There were people dining in there and it's not like there wasn't room for us.
My favorite Indian food on Long Island. If I could give 10 stars I would. Highly recommended.
Food is delicious
Service was great, interacting with my son. We arrive a few minutes before open and walked in accidentally. We went back to the car, and a few minutes later, a waiter came out to wave and let us know they were ready for service. Food was great, loved the vege paneer curry and the fact that they had both rice and noodles for their lunch buffet. Only wish 2 things that would have made this perfect (and probably the line out the door) - to have chili chicken and a small dessert dish with their weekend buffet, but totally wishful thinking and self serving, I could have ordered both if I REALLY needed them.
Loved the ambiance and service levels.
Their naan was good too, nice and doughy, but not overboard.
This restaurant very bad for buffet.. in side have very
Intimate place great food and wonderful
Service. May have to bring your own wine due to liquor license issues but I don’t find that a problem.
My experience at Chili and Curry was super wonderful. The wait staff is extremely attentive and the portion size is worth the price. I felt so full and satisfied by the end of my meal. I got the Hakka noodles, veggie samosas, Naravtan korma, and naan. I loved the Naravtan korma because I thought the cashew nut sauce made the veggies taste much more deletable.
Food was amazing, especially the garlic naan and the chicken pang. Service was friendly and the staff were so nice and welcoming! The food came out faster than we expected (15 minutes). My family and I had a pleasant experience here and we are excited to come back again!
Great Indian and Thai food. The paneer tikka is very flavorful as well as chicken tikka masala
Sehr lecker, sehr schnell, preislich in Ordnung, leider ist die einzige Toilette sehr stark schmutzig und ungepflegt.
Worst shrimp korma I've ever had. Sauce had no flavor & was like a pile of goo. Shrimps were very tiny. Chana Masala was bad too. Sauce was watery. Will never eat here again!
Shrimp were frozen and not eatable.
Really bad food. They should get out from food business.
The food did not tast good. The lamb had a smell to it. We returned the dish and they still charged us for it. The chicken tikka masala was the only edible dish. All the other dishes ordered lacked any taste or flavor. A big disappointment
One of my favorite Indian restaurants in the US and I've been to quite a few of them. As good as Rasika in DC. Truly amazing and very very good prices.
Ordered take-out. Veg manchurian and chili garlic noodles were extremely underwhelming. Food was stale and old tasting with minimal unique flavor. Not a satisfying experience.
Food is delicious. My family and I gather here often. I've also catered a large outside event through them. My only issues throughout these years and many visits there, are the extremely long wait times and the fact that they haven't expanded their dining area to address this issue. Parking is also an issue but the wait and extremely small dining area are evidently very unreasonable. Basically, the dining area is a converted living-dining room of a small house.
I have recommendations on how the NEW owners can save an institution and most favored restaurant. Dinner-Take out this evening was below expectation. We’ve loved New Chili Curry for many years and want the original back please. Please call me if you wish. I left my number this evening with a gentleman on the phone.
Great food and large portions
We returned to New Chili & Curry with a friend from New England and had a wonderful time. We ordered Thai Spring Rolls, chicken. Tandoori Shrimp, Lamb Rogan Josh, and Fish Bangal! Awesome! Plus a Bread basket of Naan, Onion Kulcha, and garlic naan. What a great meal. Uncrowded and unhurried! We're returning next week!
Nice small restaurant. We got lunch buffet and food was good. Kids under 5 eat free with adults.
Been here couple times. Best chilli in the area.
Well priced Indian buffet
I came here with my family today for the Sunday lunch buffet and had a great experience. Good food and friendly service. We will definitely be back.
Too much time for take out
Worst food ever I have. Don't go there it's totally disgusting.
Overall good pace. Tikka masala is good and chicken biryani is a must. I wish they put less fried onions in the Biryani but still good.
This place is a hidden jem and has alot of potential to be big. The food came out hot and fresh. Its very full of flavor. The food is so good we ordered more at the end of dinner to take home. The glass water bottle they give you is tap water. Pass on that. The server we had seemed annoyed when talking to him. Maybe he was having a bad day, who knows. The asian guy who gives you your food is a very nice guy. Im thinking hes the owner. The inside could use some updating. Overall i see myself comming back. A+
Foods are not tasty
Clean and nuce environment. Prices are very good. Food is delicious eveything we ordered was amazing and great customer service. Will visit again.
Malai kofta had more potato than cheese, meat platter was great
I used to go here when I went to law school. It's one of my FAVORITE restaurants - such amazing food and warm service. The owners are the sweetest couple and they make you feel right at home.
LOVED the spicy cauliflower and the deep fried fish. Finish off your meal with a mango lassi and think about all the good things in life.
Taste can get better
First time here
V small Resturent
We were thinking should we go in or not
But before leaving I have to give them five stars
Food was awesome
Pretty good Indian food. This is a Thai Indian restaurant, but I only tried some of the Indian food items, so can’t comment on the rest. We tried Malai Kofta, Chettinad Chicken, and Lamb Rogan Josh. The Chettinad Chicken was by far the best. Lamb Rogan Josh was good, but there are many other restaurants that make it much better. Malai Kofta was not that good in my opinion. The best part about the food, however, was the price. Most of the Indian curries were all under $20. The service was also very quick and efficient. Felt very much like a restaurant in India: order food, eat it, pay the check, and leave. Literally only an hour from start to finish. Ambiance is whatever, but you’re going there for the food and not anything else.
Good spot for Indian food! They have Indian, Thai/Chinese and fusion dishes. Main go-to spot in the area. Been here many times and never a disappointment. Food has been good dine-in or takeout. Street parking but it has never been an issue.
What was once a really good restaurant is no longer. My chicken Tikka was bland, no flavor & the chicken was dry. This is not the place I used to frequent pre-2020. It's unfortunate. Crossing this off my good Indian food list.
So good! Love the hot and sour soup, veggie Manchurian with gravy, and the cauliflower manchurian. Friendly and accommodating service as well. Wide variety of vegetarian options- have tried 3 other dishes and all were amazing.
Took home my food and 3 chicken dishes tasted like they were cooked day earlier. Just heated up and gave it to me. I would go back but they closed already. Worse food from them.
Still the same after a few years of occasional visit Parking a big issue for newcomers.
Food quality was so fresh timely fashion in receiving the food that was ordered and the staff is very friendly. I have been there numerous times.
Food is okay, seems like quality went down recently. Also food portions are relatively low and prices high.
By far one of the worst Indo Chinese food I've had! We ordered cauliflower manchurian..it was so bland that I think they forgot to maybe add manchurian sauce or something?! There literally was ZERO flavor to that dish. Next was Vegetable hakka noodles, with one bite, my mouth was on fire, and I definitely eat spicy but this was beyond spicy. Then we got chilli paneer which was just ehhh. We also ordered some non veg dishes which I can't judge on since I didn't eat that but overall..I definitely will not be ordering from here again!
Have come here at least 5x in the past couple years. Every dish will have you completely satisfied (portions, quality, spice level). We've been to every food spot in the area and if you know about the area you know there's an abundance of this cuisine. I usually get 2 desi dishes and 1 asian everytime I come so I've tried almost half the menu. Everything is authentic, fresh and the service is outstanding.
2019: Great food but the space is a bit tight so we typically order to go. Would recommend trying the chili garlic noodles and chicken makhani.
Update 2022: the management has changed and sadly it’s far from the same. We’ve eaten here (take out always) atleast once a month for years but I think it’s time to move on. Waited 90mins for a noodle and chicken order, which turned out to be terrible. Once before I called and they said no Chinese this week because chef is away so that’s half their menu unavailable… miss “my dear” but hope she’s doing well
Hidden gem for fusion food!!
This place has been recommended to me by word of mouth from people all over Long Island. I finally had the opportunity to get dinner to go and I was blown away by the food.
I placed a larger order to share and got the chicken samosas, bread basket, chicken chili garlic noodles, mango chicken, and goat Rogan Josh. Literally every plate of this order was fantastic.
The chicken samosas were a great size and the sauces that came with them really complimented the taste. There was one red sauce that was sweet, that worked the best for me.
The chicken chili garlic noodles were just the right amount of spicy. Fresh noodles with great taste all around. A nice compliment to the non spicy dishes we got.
The goat was much better than I thought it was going to be. I've had goat in the past and hated it. Having it the way this chef prepared it changed my view on goat meat. Tender chuncks of meat on the bone for more flavor with a wonderful thick sauce. This plate is a must try if you have never had goat.
The mango chicken may have been my favorite dish of the night. The chicken was tender, the sauce was nice and thick, and the sweetness of the mango helped cool my taste buds from the noodles. I had some of this dish left over and reheated it the next day, just as good reheated.
And of course I can't leave out the bread basket. All the types of bread were delicious. This is just a must to see what type you like the best and to scoop up all the delicious sauce from your dish. Don't let any of it go to waste 😋
Bottom line, if you skipped reading my long review and come to the bottom for if notes. EAT HERE!! You won't be disappointed.
Great taste iono if it’s msg or something
The service is ridiculously slow. We waited 45 mins for our food while other tables finished eating and left. We just walked away, the food was not even ready at that point.
We ordered takeout and everything was so delicious! One of our favorites.
Really like this place☺️ the food was great(must like spicy and heavily seasoned food "curry" )and the staff is very polite and kind(regardless of the look on their face🤭) not pricey at all. You get a lot of food for the value over all great experience, only wished the place was bigger(the tables are really close together)
New management apparently! The terminology of don’t fix what isn’t broken relatively applies in that they changed recipes and menu and as a result the food quality and taste is dramatically worse. So sad!
Attempted to eat here again and give it another shot. No change. Transformation from some of the best tasting food 6 months ago to now fast food like McDonald’s is much more satisfying. This time lamb was undercooked, fish was flavorless, curry tasted watered down. Word of advice to the new management, find new chefs or try to get back the old chefs and possibly rehire the old management and just learn from them.
It used to be our go to Indian place for years. The food USED to be so incredibly good and satisfying ( the service has always been hit and miss… but I didn’t care as long as I got my Indian food fix 🤣) but not sure what happened to this place!?!? We were so happy when they reopened for dine in after COVID struck but what a disappointment! The food was just inedible and awful. I’m wondering were the good chef went so I could follow. ☺️
We’ve been getting food here for a few years. Every single dish an absolute favorite until a few months ago. Very suddenly, the recipes seemed to change (I’ve read similar reviews saying they’re under new ownership). I wouldn’t say it’s bad, but it’s certainly not up to the standards we were used to.
Been recommending this place for years. I've been a huge fan for as long as it's been open but just found out(after ordering and eating a bunch of items) the chef and ownerships changed......and so did the quality and taste of the food. We did take out as always and I called the restaurant after just 2 bites to inquire about the change as every dish was proggressivly terrible. So disappointed that one of the last Indian food places with consistently good food on LI is gone.
This restaurant have pretty good review so My family went there for lunch on sunday about 1.30. There was 4-5 tables in small cage-like size . Two tables was served already and 3 tables is empty. And waiter saw us but he did not say anything. So we sat down at empty table and waiting for menu. Another waiter came to us and say “we are pick up only” . I asked what about other table? He answered something i cannot understand. He said “ we change pick up only from now. “. My kids feel so embarassed. BETTER Change a name from CHILI & CURRY TO RUDE & UNKIND.
Even one star is generous. SHAME ON YOUR BUSINESS.
I went there with great hope that my friend told me about chilli and curry restaurant, Hicksville. It was the first time I went there. I wrongly parked inside their lot . But very rudely they told me to remove the car . Didn’t show courtesy in words.
My son and I love this place!
This place is kind of hard to find, but it's worth the search! I've been coming here for years and even though I've since moved out east, I stop in whenever I'm in the area. Food is fresh and authentic. I usually get the Chicken Tikka saag - so good.
I had never been to this restaurant but heard it was well-regarded and even rewarded for its Indian cuisine. Today, my lovely boyfriend took me and we had no idea we would be in for one of the wildest experiences of our lives. We walked in and asked for a table for 2 at around 7:30 pm on a tuesday. The manager(?) started moving tables around the near empty restaurant and when he was ready he shouted, "come here!" as his way of showing us our seats. Upon being seated, our server handed us menus and said, "just so you know, we don't serve Chinese food". We were confused since we very much new this was an Indian restaurant and had no intention of ordering Chinese food. While we waited for our orders, the restaurant emptied and a server and the manager(?) started arguing over an order for delivery. The manager accused the server of lying and the server was not having it. So we just sat there politely minding our own business in this small restaurant where you can see and hear everything. Then, a disgruntled customer came in and complained to the manager(?) about his food. He apparently ordered food that had a rotten tomato and complained about how the food wasn't like it used to be. He asked if there was a change of management because of how different and bad it was. The manager just said no. Again, we politely minded our own business, now worried about the food we were about to receive. Our entrees were delicious and the restaurant was completely filled by the time we left (8:30 pm). If you are looking for dinner and a show (or two), this is the place to go.
Lovers of Indian food owe it to themselves to visit here
Best Indo Chinese food in Hicksville with far price comparatively to other restaurants
food is delicious never disappointed
We went to Chili & Curry after a long time. We used to go here quite often pre - Covid. Our most recent experience was a complete, total, utter disappointment, especially when I compare with previous experience.
It looks like the owners and/or management has changed.. and in a nutshell, this place has fallen from outstanding to below average.
Food:
Completely bland. No flavor at all. We ordered pretty much the same dishes that we used to order. The first thing I noticed was lack of seasoning and flavors. Chicken appetizer was overcooked and rubbery. I had trouble swallowing that hard, flavorless, bland rubber. I was only able to swallow with a gulp of water.
Chicken entree was nothing to write about. Not even enough salt.. forget about rest of the flavor profile.
(Previously, this place used to be our most favorite Indian restaurant.)
Service:
The waitress had no idea what she was doing. She and the other waiter cleared our plates before our full round of appetizers was served. When the manager/owner pointed out to her that we still had a couple of appetizers coming our way, she placed the old plates back. I honestly don't know whether or not she gave each of us our own plates back. By this time, we were so utterly dumbfounded, that none of us could think of what to say. She eventually gave us new plates and we finished our appetizer round.
By the time we were half way through our main course, our disappointment was probably showing clearly on our faces. The owner/manager came to us asking if everything was fine. The way he did so was so apologetic.. it was like he knew he was serving bland/tasteless food with a less than mediocre service.
(The service here used to be stellar. The previous owners, a husband-wife couple, used to provide such a homely and warm experience.)
I am never going back there again. I genuinely felt bad for that place. We have such fond memories of the food and the service there. But with the new management/owners and the staff, this place is doomed.
My husband and I have been coming here for 7 years or more—honestly don’t remember how we found this place but SO glad that we did. Their food is some of the BEST Indian food I’ve had in NY and that says a lot because I grew up here and have tried almost every Indian restaurant there is.
I love the staff here—especially the middle aged woman who usually is running the place. She & the staff are always kind, attentive, and personalize your experience.
Especially love their hot and sour soup & tom kha soup here. Honestly can’t go wrong with any of the entrees here.
MOMOS are really delicious, test is totally different and yummy.
Very bad experience i had today with my order. It was my mom’s birthday and i order the food and you can look by the pics which i ll post too with my review. Paneer burji is looks like something you can’t even tell what kind of sabji is this. First time i see white paneer burji. I also ordered veg jalfrezi and that turns out of tomato puree sabji straight from the can. I would not go to this restaurant ever again. Thank you ruining my mom’s night. I spend over $150 worth of my order and we ll sleep tonight without food. Thank you so much for that. The chef did not make my food today. It was pure unfinished leftover or I don’t even know what they give me.
Overall 6/10. Wish they had all the food they listed on the menu available. Food quality could have been a little better.
It's a conjusted place. Food quality was okay.
I’ve been coming here for over 15 years. If that doesn’t tell you how good the food here is then no review will do.
Beyond amazing. Highly recommend them.
