Food is so good 😊

Diner Review №2

Best authentic Thai in St. Paul! The flavors are wonderful. Highly recommend the Tom Kha, steamed chicken and pork knuckles

Diner Review №3

Most flavorful Thai food I've ever had. Amazing!

Diner Review №4

My co-workers and I were excited to eat here after work, but we immediately got disappointed with a post-it on the door saying, "No more dine in". At least post an update on your Facebook page so people aren't wasting their time.

Diner Review №5

Delicious food and kind service! Highly recommend.

Diner Review №6

Maybe the best Thai menu in town. Quick. Authentic. อร่อยที่สุด.
But be warned, the hot is seriously hot.

Diner Review №10

Delightful place with amazing cooking in a hard to find location.

Diner Review №11

Their food here is good, so far all that I have gotten to try. However, it says that it’s opened today & I went here to grab some food. Their space seems to have been closed down for a little while now as all these USP stickers are all over their door. I really wish it said it was closed or temporarily closed. Their hours states otherwise. So it wasted my time a little. Thankfully the other restaurant is next door to them so I went there. Food here is pretty good, customer service does suck. You dine in & serve yourself basically. So I never tip. And I don’t feel bad about it.

Diner Review №12

I love their food, and I'll genetally choose Hot Grainz as the place to go when we just want some really good food to go. Their space is simple and always clean. The only thing that's not positive is the ordering process. Wheather you order online ahead or when you get there, you have to do it electronically, and some parts of the process are less than clear.

Diner Review №13

Dont dine into this place. Strictly not a dine in restaurant imo. Kiddy plastic cups and not dine in friendly. I repeat do not dine in unless you are waiting to be disappointed!

Diner Review №14

Diner Review №15

Best Thai food ever in my life.

Diner Review №16

This is my first time here. We were a bit confused when ordering. You have to order and pay before paying.

Diner Review №17

People are rude. You get charged for using a card and they don't have it stated on website. Also you order pay yourself and they still ask for a tip???

Diner Review №18

Great place as a no frills Thai restaurant. Unbeatable prices and portions. Flavor and texture were on point for their pad Thai and drunken noodles. Their peach smoothie was delicious too. Service is definitely not their strong point, but wasn't expecting it from a hole in the wall restaurant.

Diner Review №19

Diner Review №20

Incredible food, naem and pad prik gaeng are two stand-out dishes after two visits, but we will be coming back to try every dish on the menu!!

Diner Review №21

Hot Grainz makes some good Thai food! They're in the large building housing the Asian market. When you arrive you'll have to scan the code and order through their website. You can then grab a seat and they'll bring out the food. There's not many tables available so try visiting on an off hour. The pad kra pow is great but get it as spicy as possible. The spice level of one table spoon is what you should order if you like spice.

Diner Review №22

I ordered online and my food was ready when I got there just ten minutes later. The panang curry was delicious and had lots of chicken - definitely recommend. The spice is about 3 out of 5 when you eat the chilis, which is perfect for me. Can easily avoid the chilis if you want a milder experience. For the price, the pork and shrimp crispy wontons were underwhelming - basically just a small piece of seasoned pork the size of your grandma’s hardy candies inside the little crispy wrapping. Will come back to try other dishes.

Diner Review №23

Best Thai in the city and probably top 3 restaurants here too.

Diner Review №24

Worst customer service! I was in process of paying for spring roll, and they immediately handed me some premade shrimp spring roll. I politely told them I am allergic to seafood . I was not ask what I wanted or if I was allergic to anything. They refused to correct the order and did not reimburse me. I said I can’t eat seafood what do I do with this premade shrimp spring roll? They says take it home or pay for another order. I was so mad I left. They did not reimburse me.

Diner Review №25

If you're craving an authentic Thai food experience, look no further than Hot Grainz. This place truly makes you feel like you're dining in Thailand. The flavors are bold, tasty, and absolutely spot on.

My go-to favorites are the Guay Tiew Tom Yum and Guay Tiew Heang. The Tom Yum noodle dish is a perfect harmony of spicy, sour, and salty – every bite is a delightful explosion of flavors. The dry pho noodle (Guay Tiew Heang) might seem simple, but it is incredibly flavorful and satisfying.

Diner Review №26

Diner Review №27

The food and the staff were all that we had hoped for!

Diner Review №28

Take number of chillies with ur all risks naem is so good and big portion

Diner Review №29

Tried this place as it has plenty of good choice from the menu. We dined in but the place only has 6 small tables (2-4 ppl/tbl). So take out might be your better choice. Anyway, though Naem is their signature dish (fermented pork ribs) we decided to order other dishes: Khoa kha moo and bha mee moo daeng and three milk mango sago for our dessert.

Diner Review №30

Delicious food, reasonable prices, generous portions!

Diner Review №31

Terrible service. Traveled from WI & wanted to try the food since seeing them advertise on Facebook but the service is terrible the moment you walk up to the window. The girl at the front is rude and short on how to order/dine in (very confusing, online says to not order on that platform if dining in & the option to dine in doesn’t say “click here for dine in” either). We looked at the menu for a bit and decided to dine in across to Little Asia Cafe instead. Great online marketing but poor service.

Update: saw the response but there is no reason to ring the bell when a young lady was already there and rude about having to clarify instructions.

Diner Review №32

If I can give them a ZERO, I would. How do you expect a mom with her baby along with her elder mother in law to also just wait in line as her husband is checking the menu to order food. We got there, and nobody was in line, so the 3 of us wanted to just sit down as my husband was going to order food only for the waitress to rudely tell me, "you guys can't sit until you order food". Like seriously?! There was no one else in line but my husband! I don't know how places like this even survive. No matter how great your food may taste, your service is NASTY. We just upped and left. Places like this don't deserve our $.

Diner Review №33

Just like street food in Thailand... Except huge American portions. The best! I will not go anywhere else!!

Diner Review №34

Amazing food 😋

Diner Review №35

Sweet little spot with great service and atmosphere.

Diner Review №36

Diner Review №37

Food is good but we had to wait 45 minutes for 2 orders at a very non-busy time and the woman behind the desk was openly swearing and complaining and being very rude and condescending to a customer who didn’t really speak English. We got very bad vibes and were anxious about the constant swearing. And also, we arrived at 5:30 and the dine-in doesn’t close until 6:30 but for some reason they were closing early and didn’t let us eat in, even though someone who arrived 20 seconds before us were allowed to go in.

Diner Review №38

Horrible service.

Diner Review №39

Hands down, this is the best Thai takeout in the Twin Cities. I wish my wife would let me eat here every day!

Updated:
The person that called me definitely didn't offer a replacement dish. If they had said that, there would be no issue. She simply said "we can pack up the 5 pieces of pork for you."
Changed my star review because the food was actually decent. The restaurant could use a new manager though 😊

UPDATED:
Restaurant called and told me that they forgot to mention they ran out of the bbq pork and in passive agreesive manner, said
'If it's so important to you, you can come grab the "5 pieces of pork" today'.

A simple apology would have been enough instead of this :)
------------
The fried banana was horrible. They used unripe banana which ruined the entire thing.
Also we got the Guay Tiew Moo. The description said it had bbq pork but there was no bbq pork in our order.

Diner Review №45

$10 for this. Not worth it. Asked the lady for an extra to go box and she looked at me confuse.
I'm not understanding all these good review. This papaya salad was bland. It was not good! I was hoping it'll look like the picture on the menu but definitely does not look like it. Never again. It actually looks bigger in the picture than it is.

Diner Review №46

This is the best place to go if you are craving some great Thai food. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are big. I got Chicken Pad Thai and Egg Rolls. They were both so good and because of the portion size. I have a whole other meal for later. This is a cozy little restaurant with 5 tables in total (there wasn't a wait when I was there) located in a building with other establishments. You scan a QR code that takes you to the website where you view the menu and order online. You can use cash or card. There is both dine in and takeout.

Diner Review №47

Most authentic place in the twin cities for thai food. Pad kaprow was on point with spice and flavors. Taste just like my dad's cooking. Tom saap was also very good. All the herbs and lime definitely hit the spot on this chilly spring day. Growing up Thai, it tasted like home. Much better then the other mediocre places around here catered to bland American, spice-less taste buds. Will definitely be coming back for more.

Diner Review №48

This place is always so good.

Diner Review №49

Hands down the best Thai street food flavors I've had here in the Twin Cities. The pad krapow is 🔥- note, their spice level is legit, so be careful how spicy you ask for. I forgot what the noodle dish we ordered was called, but it was so flavorful, we didn't need to add anything to the broth. Ordering can be a little confusing as you have to do it all online, even if you're dining in. And then the dining area is pretty small too, so it can be a little crowded depending on what time you go. First time here, but it won't be the last.

Diner Review №50

Authentic thai street food. Don't forget to try Fried Bananas and Nom Yen!

Diner Review №51

Food is great but would be nice if they put liquid food in a container or a plastic bag to stop it from leaking. My papaya salad was dry by the time I got home and the liquid leaked into the napkins and at the bottom of my bag

Diner Review №52

Their food was just not for me. Tasted funny to me but may taste good to others. I didn’t feel like their food looked or tasted fresh either.
I think they only use dry pepper for their spice. I like fresh pepper in my dishes. But if you life dry pepper this place may be a good place for you to try.
Personally, not worth the hype.
Easy to order. You scan the QR code and order through your phone and then pay at the counter.

Diner Review №53

Diner Review №54

Food is GOOD

Tiny Bit for them is level 3/4 for me

I can still eat it BUT GOT TO DRINK WATER

The wait is 30 minutes( which is the maximum waiting)

Diner Review №55

Diner Review №56

ATTENTION: Please be patient with the staff. They're a very small operation but are incredibly busy and trying to keep up They've got a small space to work and and can barely squeeze by each other when cooking so that combined with the number of orders is reasonable justification for longer wait times. I'd suggest ordering 30 min to 1hr before picking up to save some wait time during peak hours.
With that out of the way, their food is so good and worth the wait! Portion sizes were plenty to be full too! The team is kind and watching them work I could tell they were clearly do the best they could! I would love to see them expand later! There is a small dine in area, but if it's peak meal times it can be a long wait, but it's understandable.
Thank you to all the employees there! I see you barely able to move around back there and so busy. I appreciate you all!

Diner Review №57

Honestly such good service here! I felt so seen. And delicious, absolutely delicious. Must try!!!!

Diner Review №58

Delicious food! Small seating area with self serve water/utensils/take out containers. Have been here a couple times and each time, the food has been amazing!!! It does get busy if dining in due to limited seating, so take out might be better. Tried some of the drinks, but not a fan (too sugary that it overpowers flavor). Will keep going back for the food though! Definitely reminds me of food in Thailand. Delicious flavors and tender meats. The portions are enough to share as well.

Recommend: the khao kha moo (stewed pork knuckle). It was fall off the bone and soooo tender. Packed with flavor.

Diner Review №59

Our family orders takeout once a week! Everything is always fresh and tasty here but you do have to be patient with them as there is always a wait. Restaurant is small so we always order Togo, call ahead the wait is worth it.

Diner Review №60

The food is AMAZING. I give it four stars because the use Styrofoam for their takeout.

Diner Review №61

Pack 'er up folks, this is it - the best Thai food in the twin cities. Absolutely delicious flavours from all the dishes. I've had the Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Bah Mee Nam (outstanding), Penang Curry - all excellent, very authentic flavours. Be warned: Asian spice levels. Access this place from Sherburne, not University.

Diner Review №62

I want to give 10 stars if I can
This place soooooooo AMAZING!

If you're in search of AUTHENTIC Thai cuisine, I highly recommend this place. Having spent 24 years in Thailand before moving to the USA just two years ago, and being from a state where finding genuine Thai food is a challenge, I can confidently say this restaurant is a gem. During my visit to Minnesota to see family, they brought me here, and from the moment I looked at the menu, I knew I had finally found a Thai restaurant that doesn't compromise authenticity by adding peas, bamboo, or bell peppers to their dishes. It was a moment of certainty that they indeed serve authentic Thai food!

I ordered dishes that I used to enjoy in Thailand, and to say I was FLABBERGASTED is an understatement. The portions are generous, and if you enjoy spicy food, this is the place for you! I recommend going for a full spoon of spices for the perfect taste, but even when I opted for just a tiny bit to accommodate my family's preference for less spice, the flavors were still amazing.

Diner Review №63

Super delicious food! Amazing atmosphere and excellent service! I will definitely recommend this restaurant 💜

Diner Review №64

I order online and I came here 10.30 and everything wasn't set up yet even my order not start making yet wait over half an hour!!! if you not ready for anything just opened late 11 or 12 pm just too many employee but super slow

Diner Review №65

Diner Review №66

This place looks amazing with a personalized neon sign so you can’t miss it when you enter the building with multiple shops. The food here was pretty good. My only complaint is that I wish there was more sauce on the meat I ordered, but that’s just a me preference. The service was fairly fast given the small about of people within the kitchen and the atmosphere here is pretty aesthetic where you’d picture Instagram selfies and portraits. Free side of rice!

Diner Review №67

Good food very authentic, my partner is Thai and she liked the Guay Tieu Tom Yum and the Khao Mun Gai. I was a bit disappointed with the Khao Soi, the broth wasn't vibrant or spicy just had some peppers on top, too little cilantro and red onion to balance out the pickled cabbage. I had to fish my lime wedge out of the soup.

Our group had sticky rice mango and custard, the custard is thin as a crepe and not much mango on the other. Wish had the fried bananas instead.

Dine-in ordering is problematic. Need paper menus available or at least the menu posted. Ordering on the screen takes a long time and creates a line, and if you're not familiar with the menu you're in trouble. Service was not very friendly and we had to ask for our dishes to be removed before dessert.

I think they prefer and prioritize takeout. Seating limited and you're not allowed to sit until you've ordered and paid 😕 We'd probably go back for the food, but the ordering process and the service was unpleasant

Diner Review №68

The worst restaurant ever for take out. You can’t even make payment online after you put in your order. They don’t deliver either. They text you this stupid link to make payment but it doesn’t even work than they tell you they can’t start your order until you go and pay in person. The whole point is I don’t want to come and wait 30mins for my food that’s why I’m ordering takeout! Bye ✌🏼 I’ll go elsewhere who takes online payments.

Diner Review №69

My husband is Thai and we have been looking for good Thai since we moved here 3 years ago. We almost gave up. Tonight, I almost cried with the first bite of the curry. We looked at each other and said "This is it!!!!" Cannot wait to go back!

Diner Review №70

It's tucked away in a University Ave Mini-mall. Order online, pay at the counter, and they assign you table number in the dining room next door.
I ordered an egg noodle soup Ba Mee Nam and a coconut Boba slushie. Sooo much better than Phó. Reminded me of the plastic bags of soup you buy on the street in Thailand.
I can't wait to go back.

Diner Review №71

Fantastic food! My friends say this is some of the most authentic Thai food you can get in the twin cities. Seating is very limited (they don't let you sit until your entire group is present and have paid for their order) and the building has its quirks (example - you need the bathroom code located on your meal receipt to open the lock). Decent amount of parking in the back and pretty close to public transit.

Quirks aside, the food is totally worth coming back for. Excited to try other items!

Diner Review №72

Diner Review №73

Very rude customer service!! Order taker just hung up on me with an attitude! Will never support again! I can't stand rude people, especially when it's their system that doesn't take payments right away & they have to call the customer to send a link to make the payment. Work on upgrading your system before having an attitude with your customers!

Diner Review №74

This place is a gem. We had Sour pork ribs, boat noodle soup, khao soi, spicy wontons. All so good. The kitchen and dining room are small, so food takes a while to come out when it's busy, but the quality is high. Looking forward to trying more of the menu

Diner Review №75

Thai papaya was good with a balance of sweet, sour, and spice. There were a few dry shrimps in there also, which I rarely find these days. Presentation and tasted like how I had it in many provinces in Thailand.

Kapow was also really good, not too oily, dry or sweet. Lots of other places I've been to had so much sauce/oil in the Kapow that you could barely taste the basil and it made all the rice soft and nasty.

I was craving fried bananas. I always bought this at the street markets in TH and they did not disappoint.

Overall food was good and totally hit my Thai cravings. Prices is higher than other shops, but it was worth paying as it reminded me and satiated my cravings.

Silly side note, I had a feeling this place was legit because they used the words "take away" versus "to-go/take-out." "Take-away" was commonly used in TH for take-out due to European/UK presences. Lol.

***update
Ordered the typical mama noodle salad you can find on Thai street food carts. Did not disappoint!

Diner Review №76

Diner Review №77

The papaya was so good. All the food we had was amazing.

Diner Review №78

Highly recommend anything on their menu. The staffs are attentive and great.
My favorites are,
* Spicy Wonton
* Pad KraPow
* Mango Sticky
* Panang Curry

Diner Review №79

Hot grainz is my favorite Thai food in the city! The food is excellent and you can tell it is made with so much care.

Diner Review №80

Great food! Best Thai I have had in the Cities!!!

Diner Review №81

Absolutely incredible and authentic Thai food! I never expected to find a place like this in Minnesota. Do not miss the naem, I've never had anything like it. Check out my review on YT, look for @jerryeatseverything

Diner Review №82

Fantastic food, easy online ordering, friendly service, and great prices. Read about this place on Eater and ordered for takeout the same day. Best Khao Soi I've ever had, looking forward to trying the rest of the menu.
Atmosphere is very basic, it's inside a shopping center with a market so most people seem to be getting takeout, but I wouldn't change anything.

Diner Review №83

The food had good authentic flavors and the papaya salad was perfect with taste and spice level 😋👌 I’ll definitely be coming back!

Diner Review №87

Diner Review №88

Visited a few weeks ago (and several other times), and while the food was tasty, I was quite upset to witness a lady dropping galangal or ginger on the floor, picking it up, and continuing to chop without bothering to wash it. This raises concerns about cleanliness, and it's particularly disappointing for me because I genuinely love the food.

Diner Review №89

Authentic Thai food. Delicious, fresh, flavorful and complex. Friendly and attentive staff. Clean, bright and cute sitting area. Little gem.

Diner Review №90

One of my go-to for Thai food. I love the food and everything, but my past few experiences have not been so great at all. I noticed that to-go orders take priority over dine in orders.

We ordered our food and as usual, there was a wait time so we waited about ~30 minutes before getting a table as it was pretty busy. At this point, we have already paid, as you need to pay for your food to get a table. Orders that were placed AFTER us for to-go were already completed. The customer who sat down ~15 minutes before us got all their food and dined and received their to-go orders BEFORE we got our food. We did not receive our food until all the to-go orders were done. How did we know it was done? We can hear them stop running around the kitchen and the music was turned back on. We waited over 1.5 hours before we were told they were working on our food. We still had to wait ~20-30 minutes before we received our food.

I doubt that all these to-go orders were placed before us because it seems like they have a system where they will see orders as it comes. I will still order from here, but I doubt I will dine in again.

I definitely think this place needs an upgrade or to have more employees to keep up so that customers are not waiting hours to get their food. They can also do like fast food, work on one to-go order and then work on a dine-in order. But instead, to-go orders take such high priority that dine-in customers end up having to wait. We only waited because we gave them the benefit of the doubt that they were busy, we already paid, and maybe they will be done soon. Had we known that we will wait ~2 hours for our food, we would have went somewhere else cheaper with faster service.

Their foods here are really amazing!!

Diner Review №93

Got Bah Mee Nam and it was so flavorful! The best Thai food I’ve had to be honest. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and will be back for sure. Thank you!

Diner Review №94

Foods too salty and I’m a pretty salty eater so that says a lot.

Diner Review №95

Diner Review №98

Loved it, my wife is Thai so we get disappointed easily but the flavors were on point! To the guy that left a review about how the Som Tum wasn’t as good as some Vietnamese version from Michigan??! - You’re in a Thai restaurant eating Thai papaya salad. Weird comparison.😂
We thought it was good.

Diner Review №99

Just stumbled upon this restaurant and I’m always weary of trying out Thai restaurants because I’m Thai…I often get disappointed at most “ Thai” restaurants that I frequent in the Twin Cities. This place hits home for me, I can hear my native Thai tongue being spoken in the kitchen and the food was delicious, just like how I make it at home or expect it to taste.

Diner Review №100

Love love this place! Food was so yummy!

Diner Review №101

Low key atmosphere but the food is as good as in Thailand. The little room for dining is just enough and well suited the name of Thai street food. They are way cleaner than most of Thai restaurants around the area!

Diner Review №102

Diner Review №103

Great small joint to enjoy lunch.
Their pricing is a bit more on the expensive side but hey it actually very good food.

I got the raw laab, the meat was way to minced for me but it not really a disappointment for me it’s just the it’s made. I’ll make sure to get it super bitter next time.

Diner Review №104

Delicious Thai comfort food served by friendly staff, tucked into an unassuming spot on University.

Come before or after drinks, either way you’ll be happy.

Tip: the bathroom requires a key card, which you’ll find hanging on the inside doorframe of the dining area.

Diner Review №113

Our favorite go-to spot for pad thai. All the dishes we have tried so far are so delicious and flavorful. The spice levels that we chose were perfect! Highly recommend everyone to try! 😋

Diner Review №114

I lived in Bangkok for 12 years and go back twice a year to see family - this is by far my favorite / most authentic Thai food I’ve come across in Minnesota. The pad kra paow is spot on - flavor is perfect, no filler veggies, crispy fried egg, and double the portion size of what you’d get in Thailand (though pretty standard for America). The som tum Thai is also exactly how it should be. Not too sweet or salty. The larb moo and kao man gai is also spot on (even comes with the side soup).
The dining room is reminiscent of the shops you’ll eat at in Bangkok: small with only a handful of tables, table condiments, metal cutlery. The only thing it’s missing is plastic stools though their nice chairs will suffice 😂.
I’ll definitely be coming back to get my Thai fix and no longer need to try to replicate at home (or worry about spending 500+ baht’s worth on non authentic Thai).

Diner Review №115

Amazing guay tiew nam tok and overall great experience :) will recommend to friends and family! Dining room is quite small so be prepared to wait.

Diner Review №116

Average thai restaurant. New, so it's clean.

We came here just for the papaya salad. We only did take out so I really cannot say anything on service. The papaya was decent. Not a high profile salad but ok. In Michigan we have a restaurant called "Taste of Vietnam" and they make a crazy papaya salad that will blow the top off of this place! Lol. The salad is called ? It's a Vietnamese secret.

I'm still complain about the bathroom being locked. I know it's a property management issue. It really sucks. This is to keep the homeless out. Just a nuisance.

I'm guessing it's Hmong owned because the pho and Asian store are Hmong owned.

We might come back to try their Green Curry and Pad thai.

Really good. Most authentic Thai in the TC metro

Diner Review №121

The food is soo delicious!!! I was craving for some papaya salad!!! All of their good has a very good flavor and very tasty!!! I got their Naem which was such a good flavor. Good portion of meat with a hint of sourness. Their papaya salad was very good and hit the spot of my craving! Their pad Thai was moist and a hint of spice. Their rice platter taste like the sweet pork but better just because it’s not to much oil and the veggies really balanced out. I love it!!! I’m definitely coming back!

Diner Review №122

The food was phenomenal. I highly recommended pad kra pow! It is a 5/5! The kao Soi is the best I’ve ever had here in the US. I have never found kao soi that taste as good as the ones in chiang Mai but this place is 4.7/5! I highly recommended this place. The food is great! They were very friendly and helpful!

I've actually been following the owner on her FB page bc there was a video of her eating with her grandparents. It was so endearing to me bc I ate with my grandma a lot growing up. When I saw that she was opening a place I had to try it! We're from out of state so it took us a while to actually come in.

But omg! The food was so delicious! The Khao Soi took me back to Chiang Mai when I was at the university there. I've been looking for a restaurant that served it so I was very excited when I saw it in the menu. Sooo delicious! Yum yum yum! And the Tum Plu Ra is actually not as fermented like the Lao style, so it was a nice change up. We'll be back again!

Ordering was easy. You order at the kiosk and pay. Staff and service was great. Our food was served promptly. I'll have to come back and eat the Khao Mun Gai 😊

Diner Review №131

Small traditional Thai food with a modern feel and look. They rely in technology but instead of speeding the process it make it slower because their system is not intuitive

Ladies and gentlemen,
No more Hmong village, no more como town. If you like simple great food come to this place. Food has so much flavor but yet so simple.
I don’t remember their menu item names but it tried the ground pork rice dish and my wife tried the ribs. Flavorful in every bite to where I had to eat a lot of rice just for a small bit of ground pork…Yo this stuff is Bomb!!
Next we are going to try their chicken rice dish with their papaya salad…hope it’s as delicious!!!
Sry forgot to add,
Hot Grainz need to make themselves bigger:)

This is one of the best papaya salads I have had in awhile. They do not do MN Nice spice. I love spicey and their level 5 was spicey enough for me.

Diner Review №137

The food is a hit or miss but the reason why I rate this place a 2 star is because the service sucks. This is my 2nd time here and it's the same thing. The wait time is forever (even when I placed it online and drove 30 mins n still had to wait another 30 mins) Also when you try to get their attention for help or answer a question, they will walk past you and leave you at the counter. I also had ask if I can change to dining in since there were some tables opened but they said oh no, because they are already packaging it in the box (they couldnt even accommodate that change, I would have been fine dining at the table w my food in the box)I find them unprofessional and they lack customer service skills. I hope they can improve in that area.

Love the food here

Live like 2-3 mins away and by far one of my favorite restaurants! 10/10 recommend!!

Diner Review №140

Ordered lao papaya salad at max chili's- 12. Not competition level but pretty spicy. N of course crunchy n flavorful as well. Found my #2 spot! Also helpful ordering sign- color indicates wait times. Returning soon for other items.

I ordered the raw laab and cucumber salad. I've also ordered the khao soi before. Everything is delicious!!

Delicious food! Fresh, fast, and friendly! I’ll be back ☺️ I tried something new (Bah Mee Moo Daeng) and it was phenomenal!

Everything we had was delicious! Self service for plates, utensils and water. The staff was very nice and it was very clean.

Diner Review №148

The food was ok. The bad part is the owner gossiping about people (in Thai) in the kitchen. My friend heard everything because she mention my name and the people that I know. Very unprofessional.

Diner Review №149

There are so many good words to describe this place and their food but I'll just keep it simple and say I love their food. Their papaya salads are good. Their kaopoon has a nice balance of spices. My favorite dish has got to be their Khao mun gai. The sauce they have with it is out of the world.

I’ve been looking for this restaurant since they opened but I could not find it. The other day I took my Mom to go buy medicine at Sunrise Market and I found them inside the building!

Service: Restaurant is small so wait time will be long on the weekends. If you order to go, you can’t change your mind and sit down if a table becomes empty. It’s first come first serve. Food is prepared quickly and brought out as they’re done. Restaurant is nice and clean, decorated to match the “street food” theme.

Now onto the food…. What can I say? It’s wasn’t alright, it wasn’t good, it was BOMB! Everything was delicious and full of flavor. My favorites were their tum thai, hot pot and last but not least, their dessert namkhaeng sai. I’ve never had boat noodles so that will definitely be on my list next time.

Overall… ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Diner Review №152

Staff was very friendly. Food took quite a bit of time upon ordering (at arrival) and the pad thai noodles were overcooked (noodles were all stuck together into a big clump and was mushy). Wontons were crispy and hot and I preferred those over the chicken and beef pad thai we ordered.

Diner Review №153

Aesthetically cute place to eat. A great feature is the order from your phone. You can customize your foods bitterness and heat.

Diner Review №154

Let me just say that this place is so much better than hmong village and hmong town in St Paul. One of the best places and would highly recommend. There's not alot of open seats. First come first serve unless you're open to waiting or take-out. I would definitely be a regular soon. The dish are $14 or more per dish. But there's no regret. The flavors and dishes are worth it.

Diner Review №155

Customer service is very bad don't spend your money here go somewhere else

Diner Review №156

I’m loving this place. I want them to get the recognition they deserve but am sad that it’s going to be a hot spot and get super busy. But until the secret gets out this is my new go to spot.

Diner Review №158

My first time, ordered Khao Man Khai and papaya salad. Absolutely delicious! So excited to try other things on the menu next time!.

Diner Review №159

such a hidden gem!!

Diner Review №160

Amazing restaurant! The food here is great and the kitchen is open so you can watch your food being prepared. The meat that's in the pho will melt in your mouth. Definitely a place you'll need to try 👍👍👍

Diner Review №161

Update: this is our go to takeout now. The staff is super friendly and we’ve tried almost every dish on their menu. Seriously go and get yourself some Hot Grainz.

Noticed a new spot and we decided to try them out over the weekend! My wife taught English for 6 months in Northern Thailand and said their food brought them right back. Great food, great service for take out. Can’t wait to try more dishes! We didn’t take any photos cause we were too excited to eat and forgot.

Diner Review №162

Great yummy food. Spice on point and food on point.

Diner Review №163

Was advised that they would only take my order at the register if I was paying in cash, otherwise I'd have to place my order online. Ordered the naam, pad krapow and khao mun gai. Food was made promptly. Was not a fan of the naam, it was more sour than what I've had at other Thai places. The pad krapow was ok, it had a smokey flavor to it. The chicken in the khao mun gai was cooked perfectly but the rice had a very strong smokey flavor to it; very different than what I've had while I was in Thailand. The gal who worked the register, she also cooked and prepped my order was nice.

Diner Review №164

My favorite Thai spot in the cities. They specialize in Northern Thai food. Every dish I’ve had there has been perfect. Don’t miss out on the fried bananas, they’re fresh and are the best hot crispy treat. We’ve had different soups, appetizers, and rice dishes to go and it’s always hot when we eat at home. Their sauces are a highlight. Portions are very generous.

Diner Review №165

Very friendly staff able to explain the menu and help choose what you might like. Super fresh food, authentic, and a really quaint dine in experience!

Diner Review №166

Love their food! It taste so great! Hope anyone that goes to this restaurant, also enjoy the food as well! The food taste remind me of Thailand very much!

Diner Review №167

Great hidden gem

Diner Review №168

Small business and family owned. Unique dishes that are well portioned and priced. I’ll have to come back to try the boat noodles and raw laab!

Diner Review №169

Absolutely delicious. Great depth of flavor

Diner Review №170

The raw laab is fire. Been wanting to try this place and glad I’ve finally had the chance today. Yes, a bit more expensive than other places but all the flavors are right. My new go to for raw laab if I’m in the area.

Diner Review №171

Staff was nice n friendly. In order to see the menu, u would have to scan the barcode.
Food was ok.
Spicy Wontons - nothing special about these. U can just get it anywhere else n put chilli oil on it. Only wanted to try it, cuz I thought they were going to be spicy.
Northern Thai Larb - this was an order to go. I did not try this. Looks good tho.
KaNom Jeen NamNgiaw - again this was order, but I did not try.
Khao Mun Gai - this was good. Chicken was nice and soft. The rice did have some flavors. The broth was plain. No seasoning.

Diner Review №172

A good spot for quick lunch. Food was served quickly. It was easy to place the order thru the website.
The music from the TV is a little too loud pointing at my table. We had to talk louder to each other when making conversation. The food was good. Portion is very decent. Friendly and family style atmosphere. I would suggest the owner to add a little of papaya salad on the side for the steam chicken rice because it is really meaty. The sweet and sour flavor from the papaya salad Tum Thai would tone it down a little and add more balance to the dish.
The basil stirred fried pork is so good. I like it.
Thai tea is a little too sweet for us. But maybe it’s just us. I love supporting small local businesses. Great work! We will be back.

Diner Review №173

Really easy to order food on your phone. Once you pay, you will get seated, and food will come out. The two owners are kind and friendly. The environment is really relaxed, you get your own water... kind of like a self service. Once you are done eating, you leave...no waiting for your check since you paid already! I would say prices are reasonable considering it a small locally-owned business. Portion sizes are reasonable as well. Definitely will be a returning customer!!

Diner Review №174

We went when it opened and it is very clean!!! Self service plates, bowls, utensils and water which we loved!!! We grabbed almost everything off the menu 🤣 Every dish was phenomenal!!! Deep fried bananas were fresh, crispy, crunchy and was filled to the top!!! Love how flavorful the food is which satisfied our cravings!!! After we finished our food we did not feel heavy either and ended up ordering more food a couple of times 🤣 Overall customer service, experience and food= 5/5!!!!! Will be back again😊

Diner Review №175

Very good food with good portions. Would highly recommend. Easy ordering through your phone with QR code.

Great Thai Food!

Good flavors and customer service! It is a much smaller space so expect to be fairly close to others if you're dining in.

I really enjoyed this place. Some of the food I ordered, I have never eaten before and haven't found it anywhere else. Small menu but I didn't mind because it was simple. A little pricey but good food and great experience.
Sorry, I don't remember the actual names for some of the dishes...
Coconut Drink: 9/10. Refreshing and delicious. It's on the sweeter side but I don't mind.
Ice Thai Tea: 7.75/10. It was good.
Ice Green Tea: 7.75/10. It was good.
Boat Noodle: 7/10. Average and good. The meatballs were good but the tendons inside of it was still on the harder side. The beef shank was perfectly cooked and tasted great. Broth was on the lighter side.
Beef Noodle Soup: 6.5/10. Average and good. I wouldn't call this Pho (Vietnamese) even if it was a Thai version. I'm going to assume, this is the same broth as the Boat Noodles without blood. It has the same ingredients and toppings.
Chicken, Rice and soup: 7.5/10. Chicken was good. (not free-range) This was hard to believe but the rice was amazing. I really liked the strategy they used for it. Chicken broth was fine. Peppers were different and unique. That's a good thing. It's not my style but it was good.
North Thai Beef Laab: 7.75/10. I was excited for this dish because I've never had it before. This dish was similar to the Lao version, it had a dark sauce with fried grounded beef.
Fried Pork Ribs with lime leaves: 7/10. First time trying it. It's was different and taste good.

Foods are delicious , I always love trying new Thai restaurants! And this Highly recommended for those who love thai food!
Friendly owners and they are very welcoming <3

Stumbled across Hot Grainz when a restaurant I normally go to was closed. Not disappointed. This place is amazing. Great food. Great service. Just awesome. It's a little hard to find because it's in the back of a building. Worth the search.
