Thai fare & popular lunch specials in a brick-lined space warmly lit with hanging lanterns.
Very cozy atmosphere with the dim-lit interior. The Volcano chicken and Thai fried rice is a must try item. Also make sure to grab the coconut water, you won’t regret it. If the weather is nice, be sure to grab the outdoor seatings. Street parking is available for those who drive.
Like 5 years ago we stumbled upon this delicious Thai restaurant in Brooklyn. Literally never disappoints! We order the same food all the time Crab Rangoon, mango salad with chicken, pineapple fried rice with chicken, pork chops, sticky rice and sometimes the fried ice cream which is set on fire at the table. Drinks are really good too! Thai ice tea lychee flavor, Thai mojito and a few others can't remember the names, but if you like Thai you HAVE to go!!!
Serves excellent, fresh & local thai dishes in Brooklyn Heights neighborhood. The decor & ambiance is very nice, perfect for date nights or girls night out. They serve traditional thai dishes and although mostly everything tasted very good & flavorul, some of our favorites are the appetizer sampler, pineapple roasted duck & avocado rolls. They also serve amazing cocktails! Also love the friendly staff.
Just found my new go-to spot in Brooklyn Heights! 🥢 Lantern Thai Kitchen has been around for almost 20 years, and now I see why. The food is fresh, tasty, and doesn’t break the bank.
We ordered the appetizer platter (a ton of delicious bites to try!), plus pineapple fried rice , noodles, and everything was just chef’s kiss! 🍍✨ The vibe inside is also super chill and cute and a modern look.
If you’re in the neighborhood, definitely swing by and give it a try. You won’t regret it! 😋

This place is located one block from the Brooklyn promenade, A+ on the location! This is a lunch spot for my co-workers and I. This visit was the first time I visited during dinner.
We ordered the Mango salmon, coconut shrimp and volcanic chicken. The salmon was not seasoned well but moist. I would pass on that next time.
The volcanic chicken was great. The flavor was powerful and the chicken was super moist.
The atmosphere is chill and as I said previously the location is great
Let's talk about it. Me and a coworker came for a take out lunch , but then decided to stay. They seemed disappointed that we wanted to stay instead of doing the take out service. I don't know why they didn't want to prepare a table for us, but we got them to. The kicker was, we had ordered a lunch special that came with a Thai iced tea, and how about they refused that for us because we decided to stay. Such a shame. Maybe if we were in more preppy attire than out work jeans and work clothes they would have gave it to us. Showed me that they lacked courtesy, and attentiveness to keep a customer happy. Otherwise the shrimp pad Thai was good, we ordered nothing other than that. I would not go during the day time because like I said the bar tender and the hostesses seem very unhappy to do their job and don't forget about going above and beyond. Let's talk about it
Loved the food! Had cheese and crab Rangoons, which were fabulous, completely loved. Some fried thing what had chicken and potato filling which was pretty below average. Tom Yum soup with shrimp was a blast of flavours, loved! The drunken noodles very also one of the best I have had and prik king was also great! So great variety, loved the options they have. Personally felt they could do better in the dessert department
I’ll continue to argue that Google needs to allow for half-star increments. Lantern is a perfect example of a restaurant that’s 4.25 or 4.5 outta 5. My wife and I had an excellent experience; the food was delicious, service was attentive and friendly, and the price is right. It’s just not quite a perfect 5 ⭐️ restaurant, but 4 feels too low. Regardless, Lantern has my recommendation.
Top! Immer wieder gerne. Liebe Grüße aus Deutschland
Great service and food, hearty meals!

Had to grab a quick bite - they have great dumplings with a quick service.
My one complain is the bathroom that has not been touched in 20 years! It smells unclean looks dirty and it needs a renovation. After 20 yrs the customers deserve better.
Chicken fried rice, spring rolls, fried chicken, was very delicious. Second time there!!! Love it!!!!

Good lunch specials and quick service.
The spring rolls and veggie cashew stir- fry were delicious. The sangria was extremely sweet, and I didn't care for it, but an ice-cold Sapporo made up for it. The atmosphere is really nice. I felt that the service could have been a bit faster, given that I was one of only a few people in the restaurant. Overall, I'd give it 4.5 stars, and would eat there again.

Okay food, nice outdoor seating area. Kee Mao not enough basil, salty but bland
Delicious authentic Thai Food
The waiters and waitresses were very kind. very good pricing.
All the food is delicious. They also have tables outside if you don't want to eat inside. The bathroom server size of a matchbox but they are incredibly clean and cute. You could roll right in with a wheelchair. Not that much room to have play time, for children will be happy enough just sitting and drawing how about you have them reading a book instead of looking at the cell phone!!!!😅🤣

Came to town from Baltimore for a show in the neighborhood. Stopped for lunch. Really nice staff, great food, and good portion size. Everything really fresh. Curry puff appetizer was delicious.
Excellent food best Thai spot in BK heights, staff was friendly, the outdoor space is nice but they should get some fans out there for these hot days. Overall 4.5/5
Nice restaurant. Nice atmosphere. But unfortunately my food did not meet my expectations at all. Actually it is no really thai food.
Just wanted to be the 1000th review. Great place and it’s been here forever - consistent

Lantern is one of my favorite Thai spots
The food is always on point, and service is quick and professional. Definitely try their fried Snapper, DELICIOUS!
The best, most healthy, consistent Thai food in our experience as NY eaters. We have only gotten takeout but they are super fast and always so good. Highly recommend we probably have ordered from here hundreds of times
Love everything except for the fact that it was a little chilly in there. Other than that this place is lovely.
So good I forgot to take a pic of the food. Ordered the coconut shrimp, beef kee mao, and the shrimp pineapple fried rice. AMAZING!!!!!!!!
Fantastic place!! I just moved here and so glad I found this place. The portions, food, price, and hospitality are so great and I am constantly recommending this place to friends. Plus it’s in an awesome place right by a cute book store, cat cafe, nail salon, grocery store, park, and so many great places. Definitely a must to visit!! 🤗
Definitely best thai I’ve had. Must go if you’re looking to try something new.
Lovely restaurant with good food near the Brooklyn Promenade. I'd recommend it if you're visiting the zone or walking through the Brooklyn Bridge to Brooklyn.
Average food at exorbitant prices. Total neighborhood inflation. Good beef satay
Nothing special. I did come here for the lunch special (appetizer + entree for $16). Food came in 5 minutes but was only ok.
What a place for thai! Nice lighting inside that makes you feel cozy in an instant. Staff is kind and at your table often, but not in a stuffy way. The food menu is immense and you can always be assured you will get something tasty. I am usually a person to stick the one thing I know is good but the quality of the food here has made it easy to try out lots of options on the menu, especially friendly for vegetarians/pescatarians. Never too oily and tastes fresh and splendid. You can’t get better thai in Brooklyn Heights!
Birthday celebration for my husband with Friends. ALL WENT WELL
Loved the food! Had cheese and crab Rangoons, which were fabulous, completely loved. Some fried thing what had chicken and potato filling which was pretty below average. Great food
Oh my god to die for
Green curry with beef has good hint of spice. However, we only received 2 rice with 3 green curries when we ordered to go. Calamari portion was small and wasn’t too appetizing because it was soggy. Maybe it would’ve tasted better if we would’ve eaten it there.
Great service
Amazing pick-up catering! I ordered a bunch of trays for a work event and was so happy with their timing, packaging, and thoughtfulness. Very vegan friendly. Will definitely order again from Lantern if another group event comes up.
Had my birthday meal here. I was visiting ftom London
personell is very kind and food is very good!
Delicious food...intimate dining...great service...good drinks...
i've been looking for a pad thai comparable to my favorite place right by cooper union for sooooo long.
I think i finally found one thats better!! their pad thai is so flavorful!. I'll order a few times to see if it's a fluke..but i'm so happy. I've been searching for a good reachable pad thai for so long.
The food and service is excellent. I chose a vegetarian curry that was a bit too sweet for my taste. My wife loved the Garlic Bowl. The Lantern house Pinot Grigio is excellent and they give a generous pour.
The food and drinks are always good!!!! Service is always on point, loveeee it here.
Great food and service
Still a great deal for a good and fast lunch.
I like this place overall, however do yourself a favor and just never order their vegetable dumplings. This is where dumplings go to die. I have had microwaved ones that are better. Their other dishes have been very good. Their service is good but swings between too pushy to adequate but overall good. The atmosphere is nice. Well worth a visit but don't expect to be wowed.
I am writing this review not because of the food but because of the experience. I’ve been supporting this business for over 7 years and I was entirely disappointed with the service I received after placing 5 orders on 8/18. Two of my orders were missing appetizers when I called after traveling for over 45mins to get the food and get back home I was received with a very nasty attitude from both persons that I spoke with. And then had the phone hung up in my ears because I expressed my dissatisfaction. Needles to say this is the last time I will ever go back to Lantern.
I had the best red snapper with honey plum sauce! Lets just say I'll be seeing them again when we go back to New York!
Stopped by for a quick solo dinner. Food was good! For the price of $15 for a main its A+. I had the ginger dish with tofu. Its vegan friendly due to tofu/vegetable dishes but no mock duck/vegan meats. Not a big deal. I liked the atmosphere inside. It was pretty busy but felt very mellow. They have a cute front patio option as well!
Been going to this place for years. Easy little Thai place with great atmosphere and even better food. I recommend the curry puffs for starters and the Pad say Ew for the main course.
Great food. Good drinks. Nice ambiance
Pad Thai never disappoints. Prefer dine in than take out.
My go to place when i am in New York.. never will be disappointed with the food quality
I love the food here and the service is great. They have an awesome menu selection and their prices are very affordable.

Love this place. Good Food, friendly staff, cute atmosphere. Street parking is a little hard to get. My mom and I always come here. The calamari is always good! Mom had the shrimp pad thai and I had the beef pad see ew. As always, the food was really good. Our little home away from home.
Terrible customer service went their today with my grandson because it was his birthday and wanted to food.
Not sure if we would get a parking spot so we decided to get takeout.
When we arrived we were able to get a park so decided to sit outside and eat our lunch to our dismay was told we couldn't sit outside and eat.
This management ruin my grandson birthday llunch.
The chicken pad thai was delicious. The steamed chicken and shrimp dumplings were mushy. I don't know if it was a one off with those, but I will be back for the pad thai for sure. My first time there
The service was awful. They just served the food on the table with no utensils, no napkins-anything! When we asked for those someone just reluctantly gave us those. The whole time we were eating no one checked on us or bothered to take away the finished plates. Food is below average.
Very good Thai spot in downtown Brooklyn and that’s not too overly priced. I ordered pad Thai with chicken and their spicy basil fried rice with a Thai ice tea drink. Both dishes came with appetizers for their lunch special and so I got the spring rolls and Thai shu mai. All very very good. Thai ice tea was also amazing. I ordered to pick up over the phone and the food was ready within 10 minutes so very fast and friendly staff. Def will come back in the future. Didn’t get to take pictures of all of them but take my word for it, it’s good!
Love the ambience of the place, food was delicious we were a group of 13 and everyone was happy would recommend this place.
This is by far the worst Thai food I have ever eaten! The food was bland, under-seasoned and sloppy. I had the duck salad and shumai, and I am so glad that we waited before ordering entrees. I was so disappointed..
Quick delivery, hot and fresh food. Everything was good. Ordered whole crispy red snapper with tamarind sauce. Beef pineapple fried rice and beef rama.
I had a lunch of pad thai and spring rolls here on a weekday afternoon. I felt boring ordering Pad Thai but was in the mood for it, and I ended up being grateful I was — it was the best Pad Thai I can ever remember eating. Very flavorful, full of great textures, steaming hot, with chewy, al dente rice noodles, large scallion pieces (which I love), the right number of shrimp, a great portion size. If I lived closer to Lantern, I would go back to sample the rest of the menu on the regular.
Awesome menu. Mix and match entrees make it hard to decide.
That a good problem...
I ordered a Thai mojito, had no idea they add lychee to it, as lychee makes me sick. As soon as I lasted it I knew them I saw the lychee. Told them and they were nice enough to make it again , but still added the lychee, had the audacity to ask if I just wanted them to remove it, I said no, nevermind I don't want it. The server who took my order promised he'd make it himself, he did not. The same guy made the drink and just kinda tossed the drink on table. My appetizer was not placed in front of me either but on the opposite side of table! I didn't want to leave a tip, but the gentleman who took my order was actually very friendly and kind, so unfortunately he got 18% and I always tip wayyyyyy over the 25%. Needless to say I will not be back.
They give preferential treatment to certain customers. I ordered an additional veggie fried rice. Then a group of White males came in ordered & received their food before I reminded them about my veggie fried rice.they are very stingy with napkin; I was only given 2 & asked for Napkins 3 times. They mix raw & Cooke veggies together, which isn't a pleasant experience. The rice was too spicy. The food server avoided the Black male I was with like the plague.
So we just ordered for pick up right now and the service was so rude especially the bartender and the waiter with the orange shirt. I am a waitress/bartender myself so I take it very personal when it comes to customer service. The place isn’t even packed and they were so aggravated to just interact with people. I am really hoping it’s not a racial thing because my boyfriend is a BLACK MAN. My boyfriend went back 3 times, first time they didn’t pack any napkins nor utensils, second we wanted to order 1 more thing for our kid so we went right back in, lastly they forgot the sauce for the spring rolls and they argued that they put it in there which is fine mistakes happen but don’t make it seem like we are trying to get free stuff. Definetly made us feel like they were purposely doing the bare minimum. They were sooo aggravated to see my boyfriend walk back in. Mind you the communication is minimum because we ordered FOR PICK UP! The attitude was unnecessary. We tipped out of courtesy but if you really hate your job just do something else, if you don’t want to deal with certain ethnic groups then work from home or something. You’re in nyc! It’s a whole lot of diversity here.
Honestly the best Thai on the East Coast. My husband and I got this once a week when we lived in the area. After we moved, we made sure to come back here five years later just to experience it again. Drunken noodles and pad thai are so good.
It was a great the food was excellent
Food was microwaved and bland. Portions are good but that’s about it. Spice and seasoning just wasn’t there. Overpriced
The food is usually delicious, I used to order about once a week but quality has gone down drastically. I order the drunken noodles and today my meal was so gross I had to throw it away. No sauce on my noodles and it tasted foul. I spent $30 and threw most of it away. I do not think I will order from here again.
Yummy curry and amazingly delicious sticky rice!!! Cozy ambiance and friendly staff.
Great Thai food
I love this place. I've gone there many times and the food never disappoints. Their spicey basil duck is my mans favorite and I cant get enough of their chicken breasts and spicey basil fried rice with chicken. The chicken breast is ALWAYS tender and cooked properly. It's not dry like other places. I love their teas, hot or cold. Especially their lychee iced tea (delicious) plus their menu don't cost an arm and a leg. Everything's been great from my previous experiences their. And, I'd give a five star but I have yet to taste everything on their entire menu. When I do.. I'll be sure to update.
The food was alright. The service could be better. The waitress would serve the food and then run off to the bar and sop her martini which i found most inappropriate, because she is supposed to be working.
expensive but very good.
Fantastique
I got the worst food poisoning I have ever had from eating shrimp here, beware food quality. I have been sick for days after🤢 Servers were rude, if you sit by the kitchen you can smell when they use fish sauce
Thai Fried Rice with Chicken is tasty. Big portion.
I'm sorry but I'm not sure how this place got so high of a review. Several things:
We got the fried calamari, green curry, and shrimp pad thai. Everything was bland except for the pad thai, which was at least edible. The green curry was so watered down you can barely taste anything while the calamari got saved by the sauce. What's astonishing is how expensive these were for the taste (sure its Brooklyn but still doesn't justify the cost).
Overall, very disappointing for the price and rating it has. People should try Thai food in Elmhurst - like heaven and earth. I know its far but I rather spend the difference in cost for an uber there 😓
Wasn't planning on reviewing so I've eaten the food before taking pictures but then had the need to just say it out there after trying it out 🥲
Have been coming here for a decade now. The cuisine is delicious
Food is delicious and nice cozy atmosphere.
Awesome thai place.
Delicious food and great atmosphere!
The tall hostess is absolutely beautiful and the wait staff are super nice.
I ordered the Nightingale Nest (Sauteed chicken and shrimp with cashews, pineapple, onions, peppers with garlic chili sauce, served in crispy noodle nest) and it was perfect. Huge shrimp and everything was properly cooked!
Mein Lieblingsthailänder in Brooklyn. Sehr freundliche Leute. Gutes, authentisches Essen. Sehr gemütlich. Für Familien mit Kindern gut geeignet.
Terrible experience. They gave me my check before even asking me if i wanted to pack my food. Literally rushing every dish out and rushing us out of here. The food wasnt even good.
The servers have terrible customer service do not go here you cannot eat in peace. As we’re walking out the servers rushed to the table to collect a tip. It was just a weird experience. It was not even busy, and we were there with plenty of time till closing.
Rude Waiter. Stopped by to grab a bite. Sat outside the service was terrible. Appetizers was lukewarm. Our entree’s was cold. Ordered eggplant basil with beef. Beef was like rubber. I sent mine back to ask for hot food. My sister didn’t send hers back. We sat there and ate a few bites, Paid the bill. I did not leave a 18% tip because service was bad and food was terrible. I had one small glass of water they never came back to refill my water. I leFt a $5 tip which they were lucky to get that. As I was leaving the little rude waiter shouts out oh you’re supposed to leave 18% tip. First off tip isn’t mandatory. We sat there and eat bad quality food that had good flavor but horrible temperature and texture and didn’t complain. We paid our bill that was over $100. So I told him that he is disrespectful and that I’ve been coming here for years and I will not be returning. He says don’t come back. I left but I thought about how bad the food was and how bad this guy’s sassy lil attitude stinks so I decided to go speak with the manager. Oh I left out the fact that he was not our waiter. But he thinks he deserves a 18% tip. Ok so as we are waiting to speak to the manager the person who actually took our order. The rude waiter comes over and says you need to move because I need to get by. So I bit my tongue and didn’t budge. Spoke with the manager he apologized and said they were short staff and he will talk to the waiter. The attitude the waiter had was basically like please tell the manager. I know he is right because I’ve been coming to lantern for at least 10 years and every time I come he is there fluttering around the place like a chicken without a head. He is probably family or just one of the most dedicated worker they have. So he thinks he can be rude and nasty to people with no repercussions. I know the manager said he hopes that I come back. But nope won’t be returning. I also will be telling all of my family and friends who also frequent this spot not to return. I wasn’t going to leave a review. But I woke up this morning with a tummy ache. I’m very upset. I knew we should have gone to the SEA in Williamsburg instead.
Food is good. Lunch specials are good.
Delicious!
Customers Beware... ambiance is good for a night out with your partner, very dim with low-light on the table. But do not come if you don't want mediocre food and pushy servers to ruin your night. My boyfriend and I really like the area and we decided to give Thai food a try..... big mistake.
Drinks were okay... I got the watermelon martini and my boyfriend got the classic mojito. Drinks were tasty, not too weak but not too strong and reasonably priced.
Now to the disgusting food: I had the calamari appetizer. I order them everywhere I go if they are available on the menu. They were large, the size of onion rings. It lacked flavor, but I did like the sweet chilli sauce they had on the side instead of the marinara. The sauce saved the calamari. Between its lack-luster flavor and chewiness, I do not know which part disappointed me more. On to my entree, I had the pork chop (chef's speciality). Pork chop was extremely overcooked. Some parts were burnt. The only part I liked about my dish was the bok-choy and broccoli they had underneath the meat. Other than that, I only ate 1/4 of my dinner. And to top it all off, server decided to come back to our table to ask for more tip. Have some class and common courtesy. You see two people having a date and you hound us for more money. Definitely left a bad taste in my mouth. I will not be returning. Waste of a dinner.
I love this restaurant! Its a comfort restaurant for me. The food is always consistent! 10/10
Pad Thai was too sweet. Not enough coconut in the green curry
Just finished lunch here...GREAT Thai food. Very clean here and the staff were very friendly. Absolutely recommend...
I was too hungry to take pics , but the food was excellent. All Thai restaurants are not created equal so what maybe your fave at one restaurant it may taste differently at another. So just open your palate to new flavors. Also the drinks was on great and the service was also excellent. Will go back to try other stuff on their menu.
Very good service, large variety, tasty food, large portions reasonable price
Listed hours were not correct, kitchen was closed when I arrived.
Ooh, the "Drunken Noodles", just the right amount of heat. Savory and delicious. I had the lunch special, it came w/spring rolls, so crispy & delicious. The presentation was lovely, but I was disappointed w/the mandarin mimosa. That was oj, not mandarin, there's a BIG difference in the two flavors.
Too salty
Best Thai place I’ve had in a long time! Great outdoor seating too.
Delicious fresh Thai food. Nice big portions. Dimly lit restaurant. Really nice vibe. Good sounding music playing at a low volume. Thank you for such a great lunch.
Great casual Thai spot with a few outdoor seating spots, which I highly recommend. The food tastes fresh and is typically on the milder side, but don't be afraid to ask for a more spicy dish.
Food is excellent! Service is sucks.
Came in close to closing, and the bar told me they where closed already. A woman in orange working take out came and told me if I ordered in five minutes I could get take out. Got some delicious Thai. I tipped 20%($6) and hope that take out lady gets the tip, and not the bartender that told me they were closed.
Amazing affordable food. Tastes delicious
We arrived at 8pm on Sunday with a party of 5 and were seated immediately. Menus, water, and silverware were given a minute later, and the waiter was very attentive to our needs. The spring roll and crab rangoon appetizer was delicious, as were the entrees! I had the Yellow curry and can't wait to try the Red and Green flavors. Bar service was quick, sake was hot, and drinks were as great as the food. We'll be back, soon!
very good food excellent service
Some of the best pad thai I’ve had. Food is really tasty and fresh.
Quick amd friendly service
. Delicious food.
I've been going here for over 8 years now and they never let's me down.
Oh my god only 5 stars allowed wished I could give 10 million stars lol yes ago but man it was stellar food
Good food (thought a bit pricey, you get more than enough), date night like enviorment, good drinks, overall a good place!
All of the food and drinks were delicious. The atmosphere is casual and not too stuffy or uptight.
This always a great place. Good is good, great atmosphere. I would definitely recommend checking it out.
Food is delicious and excellent professional service! I had the Tom Kha soup and Pad Thai, very yummy. Drinks are tasty too, including the Mai Thai.
Pretty decent Thai place. Walked in on a whim and was seated immediately. I ate chicken satay and soup. My boyfriend had some kind of eggplant and tofu with rice lunch special. I dig that they give lunch specials a free appetizer. I believe it’s only M-F. Either way the food was pretty good. My soup could’ve used a little more salt and flavor. The chicken satay was great. My boyfriend said his meal was oily. But nonetheless, it tasted good. Service was good. Staff was super nice. Not sure if I’d return tho. I’d probably try something else…
Delicious!
Food is decent, it it's way too dark inside.
Excellent!!! This place is so good. From service to the napkins.
Overall a good experience because the food was great. We made a reservation which due to walk ins we ended having to wait longer then we wanted. However, the staff acknowledged it and made up for it. The drinks and food were great. Short walk to the Brooklyn promenade so that was a nice activity after eating. Definitely a place I would go to again when I visit NY again
