This was our first time at Joy’s Thai Lakeville and we will definitely be back there.
Awesome experience of Thai food. And I dare say it could be the best Thai food I’ve had in a long time. Definitely near Twin Cities.
Friendly and courteous service. Clean atmosphere. Spacious seating. Great for families and friends. Good enough parking. (We had to park a little farther due to common parking lot for the strip mall)
Ah-mazing food! We ordered an appetizer, and 2 mains. They did not disappoint a bit. Crab rolls were simply awesome I started and finished with the starter. Tom Yum soup was warm and absolutely yummy! And their very special drunken noodles (their famous dish) was super satisfying.
Best Thai food we had in a long time!
Definitely recommended! Go eat at Joy’s Thai!
Just tried Joy’s after driving by and say “We have to try Joy’s” OMG why did we wait so long. Had the Chicken Pad Thai Med Spice was perfect on the Pad, Wife Broccoli Stirfry and we shared Chicken egg rolls , Forgot to take the pic first, 4 egg rolls were served. and the Broth with Broccoli was so very Savory. This will be a return spot for us for sure. WTG Joys
Got two orders of Pad Thai and one order of dumplings to go. The food was good but nothing extraordinary. I was hoping for more vegetables in my veggie pad thai, I felt it was light on the veggies for having no protein. Also, the order with tofu had no veggies so it was just noodles with tofu which I found odd as other places throw some veggies in regardless of what protein you select.
While the dumplings were yummy, I felt the value for what we paid wasn’t there. Each order of pad Thai was $15 and the portions were on the smaller side - still enough to share if you order an app. I felt the prices were high when compared to other places I’ve gone to, especially as we did not order with meat.
The staff seemed friendly and verified my order before handing it off which I appreciated. Restaurant seemed clean and orderly as well. All in all, not a bad experience but I don’t think I would come back.
İ loved the garlic fried vegetables (with pork).
The fresh spring rolls were very fresh.
My mom quite liked her red curry. Spice level 4 was at the edge of her tolerance, but still good.
We really enjoy this restaurant. The food is amazing. The staff are very friendly.
The reason for the 3 star rating is because ordering food to go costs you significantly more, even when you’re picking it up yourself. The massaman curry is 14.99 dining in. If you order online for pick up, the same dish is 18.99. The curry fried rice is 16.99 in person. Online, 20.99 for pick up. Nearly each of their dishes costs more for pick up. On top of that, they charge a $4 service fee for online orders. I’m not sure why they’re price gauging their food for online orders. Because of this, we don’t order online. It’s really inconvenient for days we’re really busy with life.
Small place, great food and service
Best tasting Thai food in the area. The only thing to know is the spice levels are authentic. 1-5.
2 is a medium 3 is hot and anything above, good luck.
Have been going here for years it’s always delicious and consistent! Favorite Thai food place around! Friendly staff and amazing food!
Best Thai restaurant!
Incredible food, bring yoir family...and an appetite

Most sweetest & caring service on Christmas. Thank you for the fast & very hot chicken pad Thai

Visited this restaurant with my parents and family on 10/3 afternoon - What a headstrong lady (owner/In-charge) she is!
She doesn't like the customer to place multiple orders in one sitting. Order all at once rule (phew!) ....expresses too much sarcasm on anything you talk to her. Ex: one of us asked her if they make egg drop soup. She says "Are you looking for Chinese food or Thai food?" ..why can't she just answer whether they do or not. damn it!
She served the appetizers along with short plates and simultaneously brings on the table one of the main course dishes (goes away). After a couple minutes we requested her to get the meal plates and her response was shockingly "Sorry! not now" (as she is organizing another table). That was absolutely a rude response.
In the middle of the meal course, we repeated an appetizer order because it was good. She gets it but asked us to adjust with the dipping sauce that she served with previous order!.. this is insane! ..we had to insist her to get another one as it won't be sufficient for the new order.
Often we think/talk about supporting small businesses. Business owners with this kind of attitude don't deserve the required support from the community. I like the food here but never prefer to go there again.

Amazing staff and food!
Delicious Thai with great variety. Service is quick and attentive. Take out or dine in great quality.
First time coming here and I was not disappointed. I live two hours away and I would gladly drive that commute to eat here again.
The food was very good. We had spring rolls, red curry with chicken and stir fry broccoli. Yummy!
So good! Great service. Knock yer socks off spring rolls. Great green curry with shrimp 🍤 jasmine tea. The fresh ginger stir fry is another favorite of ours. Authentic all the way. They now have a weekday lunch menu. Lunch is still about $15, but Always good 👍
Average food. They don't make their own curry and use a store-bought paste. It was extra spicy. My friend and I love spicy food but this was too much.
I ordered food 3 out of 5 in spice. It was inedible. I ended up taking it home and adding 100% more rice to lower the average spiciness. I did like the curry puffs and the Thai iced tea. We each got 2 teas. My friend joked that he thought the spiciness was a sales tactic for their tea. I was also put off by the price, which I felt was high. Instead of updating prices on their menu, there were signs indicating all food items were a $1 more than advertised. If I ever go back, I will order everything mild.
The green and red curry were both pleasant and nicely spicy (ordered hot)
Service was a little slow as one person was covering walk-ins, phone orders, hosting, and serving.
I'll be back but maybe take-out?
Been here two times and I love it. Had the pad Thai the first time and the massaman curry the second time and the Thai coffee. SO good. The staff are super friendly, the food service is quick, and I almost always leave with leftovers. Each meal offers variety of protein, making it easy to find something to eat. If you want to try to do your part and eat local and support local business owners, add this to your list!
Very good customer service, very respectful and kind
They raised prices A LOT. Can't justify it anymore. $21 for pad Thai or soup lol. I've been coming here for the past couple years and The food has always been delicious, but now the prices are really just beyond what I feel comfortable paying. Sorry.
I have come here a number of times over the years and I've yet to be disappointed. The Red Curry is far and away my favorite menu item I have tried, although the Tom Kha is also very very good. The service is top notch and the place always feels clean and inviting. Some of the nicest staff in the area from my experience. I can't speak to the authenticity of the food but I can tell you if this is proper Thai food I feel that I would very much enjoy a trip to Thailand.
We ordered red curry walley. We have request spicy level 2. It was very spicy and oily. We have been going there for year. We always ordered that dish and it was always delicious except last time. We won't be going back there anytime soon.
This was amazing, way better than I had expected. Great service + great food.
They raised the price so high I will never go back I ordered drunken noodles and chicken fried rice and it was 45$ I’m highly upset
Great food and good service. Atmosphere just average, mostly because of all the miscellaneous storage of spare tables, chairs and supplies out in the open in the back of the dining room. The last few times we have visited the prices have really soared it's now the most expensive Thai place l have experienced in the South Metro. There are also no week day lunch prices. I recommend you check the menu and prices prior to your next visit to determine whether your sensibilities can tolerate the $.
I really like their food and hope the prices don't drive customers to the Vietnamese place just a few doors away - which is also a great place and much more reasonably priced
First time trying out joy Thai and wow! Chicken egg rolls had the perfect crisp. My hubs got the pineapple fried rice which he said was the best fried rice he’s had and I got the massaman curry and the flavor was incredible. So so good! I already can’t wait to go back! 😂🫶🏻
The drunken noodles are amazing! I will be back.
I have previously done take out here but, today, opted for delivery; mistake number 1. # Placed my order about 1 hour 15 minutes before requested delivery time of 6:30 pm, #2 Meal delivered 30 minutes late. #Driver says ‘he picked up as soon as it was ready’. #3 I live no more than a 5 minute car ride from the restaurant. #4, the food was stone cold. #5 All dishes had to be reheated. #6 The curries reheated ok but the appetizer, white rice and Thai fried did not - very unpleasant. #7 Moral of the story, if the family wants Thai take out again, I’m driving to Burnsville
We love this place. The food is delicious and the service is top notch.
Great food! Excellent customer service!
Foods was very salty.. and my pineapple fried rice was not completely done. Still saw few chunk of white uncook rice.
The best Thai food. I normally pick and bring home. Each entree is enough for 2 meals. Love that!
Got a chicken pad thai here. It was pretty bad. Tasted like they threw a chili jam in some pad thai noodles. I tasted no proper sauce made with tamarind, fish sauce, brown/palm sugar, etc...
Friendly staff, delicious food, decent prices. Can’t ask for more than that!
This is some of the best Thai food around. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu. And they know how to make it spicy! I usually order a spice level of 2 - sometimes 3 if I am feeling brave. The food is always fresh and flavorful. Some of my favorites are the Drunken Noodles, Red Curry, and Basil Stir Fry. Just as good if you dine in or take out!
Fantastic Thai food
If your looking for quality, ambience, exceptional food taste and service the masmasan curry, pho soup and thai tea are some of my favorites here.
My husband ordered the shrimp Lo Mein and I ordered the Red Curry- both were WONDERFUL. Will be back for sure.
Pad thai is just boiled noodles with ketchup.
Best Drunken noodles I've had and their other dishes we've had are good too. The servers are so nice! Good atmosphere for the smaller size restaurant. Oh... awesome egg rolls too.
Ate here with little kids and shared some Pineapple fried rice. It was delicious and my children also enjoyed it. The only downside was the chicken egg rolls had some small chicken bones which I was disappointed to have to pick out of my mouth. But the taste of everything was fresh and lunch service was wonderful.
The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable and the pad Thai is delicious! Easy to order over the phone and pick up is pretty speedy.
Glad I gave this place a second chance after ordering take out. Food is much better dining in. Pad thai sauce is very sweet and is pre-made so can't be adjusted. Waitress was very attentive.
Fantastic food (with some serious heat if you want it) and super friendly service. I absolutely love the red curry, pad Thai, and drunken noodles. They also make Celiac safe gluten free dishes that my wife comes back to time and time again. This place is a staple for us!
The crab rolls were insane! I would eat them everyday if I could. The staff worked so hard, managing so much. I will be back!
Consistently good food every time we go! Staff/owners are very nice. Always welcoming!
Fresh and delicious food; very friendly staff
Food was excellent!!
Excellent food! Worth driving across the city for a wonderful meal. Thank you Joy!
This was a delivery order.
If you haven't tried it... you're seriously missing out. Fantastic food and great service; it's on our menu weekly for lunch or dinner.
Beautiful place, great service and AMAZING food and drinks
We order takeout from here often! It's one of our go-to's! It's great to have a nearby Thai place that can accommodate gluten-free food!
There was no spice in the drunken noodles. When I told the waiter he said I could of asked for a spice level from 1 to 5, well maybe you should tell the customer that when they order the food not when their leaving on an empty stomach. Additionally if a customer isn't satisfied with the food and doesn't eat it you should at least offer to remake it or comp the dish, not stand there and make excuses.
Very good Thai food.
Love the red and green curry. Also, really good chicken wings.
awful service. walked in once started to order, lady taking our order answered the phone and instead of putting them on hold took their order instead, walked out that time. today we ordered and lady didn't listen to our order and wouldn't make it right and remake it. nit going again.
We ordered pad thai and it was so sweet like dessert :(
I don't like to write bad reviews but I have to be honest. I've had a few great Thai food experiences before but with this place..don't even bother. Don't believe the good reviews! I fell for them lol!! Anyway, I ordered the papaya salad which had a ton of sauce and more cherry tomatoes with shredded lettuce (I've never had it this way before) than shredded papaya and peppers and it was just full of sugar!! The beef laab is just ground beef and it had shredded lettuce too that tasted like a beef burger patty. No flavor. Then there's the pad thai noodles, it was just SUGAR and no pad thai flavors. I'm disappointed. It was my first time trying this place out. I ended up just throwing it all away. And btw, every dish was $18 each, which shouldn't bc it wouldn't even feed 3 ppl. it's mediocre food. only positive thing was that the lady was nice. I feel bad for writing this review but I have to be honest bc I spent a lot of money for something I didn't enjoy and honestly, I don't even care for a refund.
All was good and food was amazing! Waiter heard us wrong and we got the wrong item, within minutes they had a completely new and different dish made for us. If you’re there during lunch hour order off the lunch menu! I ordered an entree and the two people with me ordered from the lunch menu and portion sizes were exactly the same for all orders and lunch orders come with an egg roll! Entrees cost $3 more and typically lunch menus are smaller portions but not the case here! My wife raves about the curry puffs so definitely try those! :)
We went here for lunch today and it was so good! I always love Thai food and this was definitely no exception. The food was delicious and the woman who served us was very nice. We'll definitely be coming here again!
Here is:
- very tasty Thai food;
- clean place;
- friendly waiters;
- fast service.
Thank you!
Ok, I am totally good with slow service, not getting waters, not being able to order, etc if the food is good. It is not and was not. We had two entrees one with chicken and the other with shrimp. The entrees were $17 each and again I am totally good with the price if it was good. The shrimp were small and we only got 4 of them. The chicken was even the equivalent of less. My 9 year old had the shrimp meal and left hungry. Everything was soaked in sauce and not good. I have eaten Thai food my whole life and I would not classify this as food. They are getting away with staying in business because they are in Lakeville and the only choice.
I've spent several months in Thailand, and this is where I take people to experience authentic Thai food.
The menu alone shows the authenticity of the cuisine! The food is great and service is also! A spot I can grab lunch during a quick work break and also take people for an authentic Thai dinner!
Okay experience. Unsure why dishes cannot be customized. All I wanted was no egg due to egg issues but they said it was not possible and refused to take my order. The waiter never came back and brought out the dish my wife ordered.
Change in management and the recipe. food is still ok but not as good as original Joy pattayas. Singapore noodles and basil fried rice are a disaster now. yet, the food is very expensive compared to other Thai places around this area
So GOOD!! Quick to go order. Spring rolls were huge and DELICIOUS!
Authentic Thai food, amazing taste, authentic ingredients and awesome service.
Very disappointing. Lesson learned: $72.85 could have been spent better and spent somewhere else. Not worth the experience or the price. Felt cheated.
We ordered the $21 seafood salad that came out as a hot soup with tons of liquidy-sauce that had the weirdest combination of flavors, the cooked cucumbers really threw me off. In the picture posted, the “salad” is in a deep dish bowl, the sauce almost fills up the whole bowl. Seafood meat was maybe 10 pieces total. Everything else in the bowl was liquid and vegetables.
Chicken fried rice tasted only of greasy big onions and greasy big cubes of carrots with the greediest portions of chicken. For $14 on fried rice, you’d think there would be more than a few pieces of chicken.
Coconut shrimp was more like a whole shrimp split into two pieces, very thin and lots of breading. The menu has it as 5 pieces for $9, but you’re really getting 2 whole pieces of shrimp cut in half and another half of a shrimp.
Shrimp spring roll looks beautifully plated, it was probably the only acceptable item we ordered. Taste was okay, but then again, there are better tasting spring rolls at other restaurants that do not cost $9 per order.
Even the most basic and most well-known item, egg roll, was a failure. $8 for an order of tasteless egg roll that barely had any filling. Inside was very hollow, we had to question if there were any meat inside of the egg roll.
Mango boba tea flavor was watered down, not flavorful like other places. Make a drive out to TiiCup in Burnsville and you’ll know what I’m talking about.
Can't say enough about Joy's! Love the people and the food.
I had the spring rolls (which were enormous!), and the green curry with chicken level 3 spice. Everything was delicious and the spice level was perfect. I will definitely be back to try other menu items!
Best Thai in MSP.
Pleasant little place to stop by! Relatively small environment but was still plenty enjoyable with good food.
I personally really like how the menu isn’t overly daunting. It’s relatively small which makes it easier to make decisions. I tried the salmon basil for my first ever dish here—it was certainly interesting not in a bad way. I don’t think it’s quite to my taste, but that’s just personal preference. I still cleaned the plate regardless. The taro milk tea’s serving is very cute almost over the top haha. The waitresses were super nice and checked in on me often to make sure I was doing alright.
Really good experience for my first time and I’ll be back. Only con I do wanna mention is the smaller seating area and that it can be a bit crowded—along with the seats not exactly being A grade comfort. Small cons-but I figured I should mention.
Mediocre at best. Very slow at lunch. Service was slow too. Parking is ridiculous.
New to area. Tried the pumpkin curry and WOW! Amazing! No it doesn’t taste like pumpkin in case your wondering, it just doesn’t burn your taste buds off like other more hot/spicy curry’s. I took my family of 5 there and I can tell you, it was pricy BUT I can also tell you, we had a LOT of left overs so I think if I order “to go” I will split the meals and save $$. Everything is too expensive since Covid so this isn’t just this restaurant, I also cringe at the prices at the grocery stores so there is that. Great Tai food! My kids loved the boba tea too. Will be a returning customer for certain.
I love this place! I haven't been disappointed yet! It may not be bougie, but they have a pretty good variety and the food has never disappointed! The front of house/waitress I always get is super friendly. They get extra bonus points for having a patio and bubble tea!
The best Thai food in the area.
muy buena comida gourmet
Green curi is my favorite. I love that they don't pull punches on spicy levels....I would work you way up and don't assume you can handle the hottest versions.
Been coming here for years love the food, I really like the coconut shrimp, the spring rolls I usually add shrimp and I also love that you can have a beer or a glass of wine while I wait for you to go food. The mango sticky rice is also an excellent dessert
Great service, clean place. Delicious appetizers
This place is SOOOO good! Well worth the slightly higher price for simply AMAZING Thai and SE Asian food!
Terrible customer service!! I’ve been going here on and off for years and I always give them another chance because I like supporting small business but this last rude phone call was the last time I’ll be giving them my business.
I have seen this place but was my first time to stop! Great service, awesome menu and the food was wonderfully prepared and hot! I’ll be back and encourage you to try this gem for yourself!!!
Always enjoy their take out food!
Best Thai food in the area!
Absolutely phenomenal Thai food. Got the chicken and shrimp Kapow, 3/5 spice level, and added an over easy egg. So fresh and flavorful and a very reasonable portion for the price. I can easily get two meals from this and will enjoy every spicy, savory, and sour bite. If you like legit Thai food, you need to try this place.
I can't say enough about this wonderful experience. The service was fast and friendly, but the food was absolutely AMAZING! This one is going in the books as one of the greatest meals of all time.
Great food, great service I had this pad Thai with eggs it was delicious and papaya salad was incredible I want to try more dishes next time 5star.
Our second visit to this gem. Beautifully presented dishes with the full Thai flavor palette. Both fresh and fried spring roll apps were great. The curry dishes were the most savory. Drunken Noodles were good, not great. Could have had a bit less oil and cooked a bit hotter to produce that smoked flavor I like in my noodle dishes. Thai Iced Tea and Coffee were perfect. Will return for sure.
OMG!! I ordered the Salmon Red Curry and I am astonished how delicious it is! I ordered level 4 spicy and it simply couldn’t get more perfect!! I also ordered the Papaya Salad Laos style and I swear it’s probably a little better than my Laotian Sister-in-law fixes it!! Truly authentic and amazing food and service!! This meal is hitting the spot and couldn’t get any better!!
First time going and it was good but a little pricey for what I got.
Liked the food a lot, a little variety from other Thai places. Ambiance could be greatly improved by not storing stuff in the dining room. Server was friendly and effective.
Stopped at a store in the Lakeville Crossing commercial area and when leaving decided to stop and eat here. Had spring rolls, Cashew Pad Thai, and Stirred Fry Ginger. Liked the two sauces that came with the spring rolls. The sauces on the entrees are not as thick as the sauces in Chinese food but are flavorful. They check came with the Thai version of a Chinese fortune cookie which was fun and tasty. It is a bit out of the way for us but we will definitely go back and try other dishes.
My husband and I loveeee joys thai! We typically order ahead for take out and our order is always ready when we expect it to be. Affordable dishes and delicious authentic thai! Our faves are the pad thai, drunken noodles & any of the curries. So soul warming especially in the MN winters!
This is my favorite restaurant. I go at least once a week. The food is always top notch. The menu is large and the food is prepared quickly.
Once upon a time, my wife and I lived in New Prague. (Now we live in Florida and one of us is happy about that.) We were frequent flyers at Joy's Thai. Best Thai in the Twin Cities -- no contest.
First visit. Pork curry was excellent and had lots of meat. Duck dish was tasty enough, but not much duck. Spring rolls with two sauces were excellent. Tom Kai soup I liked but my husband didn't. Will go back again and probably focus on curries, although we haven't tried their Laarb yet so might do that, too.
Amazing food at very reasonable prices. Flavor is excellent, spicy options are hot but not challenge food levels of warm. Staff were courteous and helpful. Just a fabulous experience all the way around. A well earned 5/5. Definitely will be going back again!
They signs and website said they were open but their doors were locked and they were still closed. Saw someone there just sitting outside on their patio smoking.
It is similar to Joys Pattaya. The food was flavorful and tasty. But the portion size is less compared to Joys Pattaya. The protein was also less in the fried rice. We can get the spice level based on what we can handle. Overall its nice restaurant with tasty and flavorful thai food.
Really enjoyed the Singapore noodles and Thai fried rice . Didn’t like the veg curry puff that much. Certainly will be our new staple for Thai cuisine !
I hope one bad experience doesn't led to another but my chicken laab salad was MUSH! It was horrible. I've always had great laab salad from this restaurant so I'm hoping it was an isolated incident.
Food was very good! I sat on the small, but quiet patio.
I absolutely love this restaurant and the food is so good. Never a bad experience. I’m I’m giving 4 stars because the prices are a bummer. We don’t order from here often because it’s so very expensive. This is pre-covid too that the price was high. I wish it was a bit more affordable so we could go more often.
Good food, fast service. Too much dressing on the side salad though
Excellent food!
The food was not good and the price was very high.
Wonderful service, and they wear their masks, so COVID friendly, which I really appreciate! Now, the jasmine tea and Taro tea were both great! But the spring rolls, beyond fabulous! So much flavor and so fresh! Definitely the best spring rolls I've had in ages and I'm rather a connoisseur as they are my favorite food! Highly recommend them! The combination of the 2 delicious sauces and fresh mango and avocado really kicked up an already amazing treat! Enjoy them! We sure did! Will definitely be back many times now I found them!
Delicious food with great, personal and friendly service. Large portions with enough for a second meal.
Tom Yum soup and fresh spring rolls were rally good. Prices and service excellent
The Pad Thai with chicken was very good!!
Great Thai Food. Had the thai beef jerky and red curry both were awesome.
My favorite restaurant south of the river!
Joy's Thai Cuisine is a delightful surprise! Their food is superb. We stumbled upon them by chance and shall take my kids and their college friends so they are as impressed as my husband and I are.
One of our favorite small restaurants. Never to crowded. Service is always friendly and relaxed.
Food is excellent.
I usually order the curry and it is pretty good. I went outside of my box and ordered shrimp and scallop with snow peas, it had very little flavor and was way too sweet. We also ordered lo mein it was horrible the noodles were spaghetti noodles and there was no flavor. Very disappointed especially for the cost. We won't be back.
Had the Pad Thai and the egg rolls and they were both so good I went back a couple days later and got dinner for the whole family. Got more pad Thai and tried the Thai fried rice and it was very good too! Great tasting and fresh veggies in all the dishes we have tried!
Fresh authentuc thai. A real treat, look for the chili pepper by certain menu items to get the spice you crave.
Great Tom Kha, Egg Rolls and so much more!
