Went for the lunch buffet. I normally don't like curry but I actually enjoyed the one they served. Very good food and very nice staff

Diner Review №2

Lunch Buffet at this location is available Mondays and Fridays and costs $17.95. There were three hot dishes available (two with medium heat, one more sweet than spicy), plus rice and noodles, and two salads (one was extra SPICY 🥵) plus yummy Spring Rolls and a variety of fried egg rolls and some cream filled wontons. Nothing is labeled, which is a bummer. But we LOVED it all and can't wait to go back. Staff friendly. Only disappointment was the lack of dessert (only store-bought processed cookies.) Still a five star experience.

I'm from New York and went to this restaurant in the Bloomington area. When greeted to waitress was dressed in an authentic Thai dress. Absolutely stunning. I ordered the pork wonton soup. Excellent. The flavors from the broth to the wontons complimented each other. I also order the beef ginger stir fry. Wonderful. The portions are large so I was offered a box. I'll enjoy ot a little later today.

Diner Review №5

Yummy sarong special and toam kha, highly recommend.

Diner Review №6

We ordered take out! The Pad Thai was packed with flavor. The chicken coconut soup was absolutely delicious. Everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. Highly recommend!

Diner Review №7

Decent food for an acceptable price. Service is also fairly quick.

Diner Review №8

No picture of the spring rolls because they were gone! Delicious as always!

Diner Review №9

Great food with friendly staff!

Diner Review №12

Amazing food and great service. Would be five stars if there wasn't an ad inside the fortune cookie for mobile gambling.

Diner Review №13

Toam Kha is so delicious! Fresh spring rolls are always fresh! Nice atmosphere. Friendly and professional servers. Our favorite local restaurant in Bloomington.

Ordered takeout. Service was quick. Food was tasty. Portions a bit small.

Diner Review №19

Update: i learned that the heat index is slightly different between ordering in person vs. ordering online. Online, the "thai hot (5)" equates to maybe their in-restaurant 4, so if like me you love traditional heat i'd recommend either dining-in or placing your to-go order in person at the counter.

the food is just as good and as spicy as ever, and their Thai tea is on point.
When you order it spicy, they give it to you SPICY! I love it. The food was saucy and delicious, and it was just about on time with the order ahead feature, +/- maybe 5 minutes, but totally worth it. The guy at the counter was also very pleasant, and the interior was very clean.

Diner Review №21

Great food and great service. I came here for dinner with a friend and I got the chicken wings. They were perfectly cooked and were amazing with and without the sauce. We will definitely be coming back.

Diner Review №23

Chicken Pad Thai was excellent. Girlfriend always raved about it, and we were in the area, so we stopped in for lunch. It didn't disappoint.

Diner Review №25

Diner Review №26

Some of the worst food I've ordered in a long time. Ordered spring rolls, Massaman Curry and green curry. The curries were thin as water with very few vegies or protein. They were ordered as medium hot, and the green curry was so hot it could not be eaten (what I would normally say is a 6 on the hot scale), a total waste! One of the spring rolls smelled like spoiled meat and couldn't be eaten. So disappointed. When I called to complain, got no help at all, they obviously don't care at all about their customers. Stay away!!!!

Diner Review №27

Spicy noodles with chicken, perfect dish for a 30° Saturday night out dinner. Back for Chicken Pad Thai.

Diner Review №28

Consistently good Pad Thai, quick service. Friendly.

The Sawatdee restaurants have been one of our family favorites for decades now. Bloomington location is perfect for meeting our Southside kin for a great family meal. Our family has a very diverse spread of dietary restrictions and spice tolerance levels and Sawatdee is one of the few places where everyone can find something delicious to eat every time. As always, nobody left hungry!

Diner Review №31

$31.00 and pad Thai, 2 egg rolls and 1 Diet Coke literally 6 small pieces of beef. Total rip off. Won’t return. Used to be good

Diner Review №32

Diner Review №33

Love the red curry. Staff are very helpful in making menu choices. Very nice self serve condiments area.

Diner Review №34

A Bloomington staple. Must go!

Diner Review №35

Stopped for lunch with my daughter. We ordered; roasted duck curry (mild), Tom yum ( level 3 spice) and for dessert- mango sticky rice. Food was delish, service was top notch. Just the right amount of spice for each of us. We will be back!

Diner Review №36

Diner Review №37

Delicious thai food and quick and courteous service. My favorites are pad see yew, sue’s eggrolls, and cream cheese wontons. Yummy.

Diner Review №38

Thai beef jerky for about $12 and a side of sticky rice for $4.50. the food is good here, but the portions, yikes. See picture below for portions received.

Diner Review №39

Friends invited us to join them for lunch at Sawatdee in Burnsville, MN. Sawatdee is a local chain that started in St. Paul, MN and has grown to four location and a food truck do to their popularity. The atmosphere was bland at that time of day. The space was well lit because of the large windows across the entire front of the building. The menu was typical of Thai restaurants except for an unusually diverse selection of seafood dishes. I will keep that in mind for future visits. We all opted for the lunch buffet, which had sparse but flavorful selections. It would have helped a little if the offerings were labeled, however, it was pretty easy to see all the ingredients. The flavor of the food was quite good for a buffet, where things can tend to get overcooked. I've been to the St. Paul restaurant a few times for dinner and can say that they are typically at the better side of average. Although we had the buffet, the manager was very helpful and made our outing more pleasant. I rated the food a 4 out-of-five because it was a buffet presentation. However, I am sure that the dishes would taste much better if selected from the menu and cooked to order. I will definitely return to try some of the seafood dishes.

Been eating here for over a decade. Will not be returning. Ordered meat on my food. Portion of meat was maybe 1/2-1/3 less than usual. Got a lot of rice, which isn’t worth $17 without the ordered protein.

Diner Review №42

I’ve been coming to this Sawatdee location for about 15 years and have always been impressed with the service and incredible food. My go to has always been the Spicy Noodle which is similar to a Pad Ke Mao (drunken noodles) which has wonderful flavor. Thank you for always being one of the best Thai spots this side of town.

Diner Review №43

Diner Review №44

My partner and I seated ourselves and were greeted in a timely matter. After ordering we received our food rather quickly and were given the option to scan a QR code to pay. So service was great, food was amazing, and everything was nice and efficient.

Diner Review №45

I ordered Red Thai coconut curry with shrimp. Instead of coconut milk they must have used coconut water! It was horrible. I've been there before, somethings changed. I won't go back. It was red broth....gross🤮

Diner Review №46

Diner Review №47

Diner Review №48

Placed a pretty simple to go order, two entrees and some egg rolls. Slow period at restaurant. Got home with food, no egg rolls. The two entrees were tasty but 20 miles away and not going back for egg rolls. They have promised to make it right so we shall see!

Diner Review №49

The spring rolls and mango sticky sweet rice is always my go to.. very small portion of the sweet rice for 9.00 but it's literally the only place I can find this dish.

Diner Review №50

Diner Review №51

When we came I was a little nervous because we were the only customers. I try not to judge by how empty a spot is but they looked like they had been empty for several hours. Anyways, the food was actually really good. I initially came because I saw in their menu they had Pad Sew Yew. But their cream cheese wontons stole the show. Probably some of the best I’ve had in the twin cities! Since then I have ordered a few times to go and have ordered the same two things. Always good and packaged really well. I love this spot!

Diner Review №52

Coconut Tom yum soup está deliciosa en general muy delicioso

Diner Review №53

Ordered the Pad Thai with beef. I ordered Thai Hot spice level 5. And to my surprise it was actually spicy 👍 , unlike the Thai restaurant I ordered from in Lakeville and Burnsville. Beef quality was good I'd give it a B+ and the noodles were perfect.

Diner Review №54

I like this place. I got their spiciest option and enjoyed the eating part but not the other ...

Diner Review №55

Always seem to get food quickly and it's delicious. Prices have gotten a little out of hand though

Diner Review №56

Diner Review №57

I thoroughly loved my food! It was flavorful and managed to be spicy without being at the expense of the overall palate. The service was amazing and it was a favorable experience for us! We will be back

Diner Review №58

Diner Review №59

Got the Thai fried rice that is always good. The problem was that it wasn't the same as the other restaurants.

FYI, the spice levels are no joke. I can take spicy, but I had a 2/5 and I could barely handle it.

Every time we go, it's delicious! Probably some of the best cream cheese wonton I've ever had, and the Pad Thai keeps me coming back.
I'm so glad there's a Sawatdee in Bloomington, it's well worth the drive.

Diner Review №79

Tasty food and good service.

Diner Review №80

Very good food!

Diner Review №81

Food was great. Very tasty and fresh. Try the panang curry - it has such great flavor!

Diner Review №82

The buffet is great and super friendly service.

Diner Review №83

The rice was mushy and food did not seem fresh at all. They have raised their prices but the food quality has went down. As I predicted the food did mess up my stomach to following day. I will never return

Diner Review №84

Spring rolls and meal were wonderful

Diner Review №85

Always a great experience eating and ordering from here. You can’t go wrong with this place!

Diner Review №86

Diner Review №87

Diner Review №88

Every item I've ordered from Sawatdee gives me a different viewpoint of flavor from this cooks perception of some culture from India. I don't know which, but the food is usually quite good. Of course I have favorites, but its a nice journey to try things.

The place is usually quite quiet. The service is on top of things.

Diner Review №89

Diner Review №90

Diner Review №91

Ordered takeout so I can’t speak to the waitstaff of Atmosphere, but for our first try of Sawatdee I’m sorry to say we will not be returning. We cannot eat a lot of spice, and we’re pleased when ordering online to see that ‘No Spice’ was an option. Running down from mpls (they do not offer delivery), came home and the spice in our food was unbelievable. I called back to say ask for a refund, since I was not going to make that trip back, and the staff shared that in order to be given a refund I would have to drive back and return the food! What were they going to do with it when I returned it? Put it under heat lamps and offer it to the next guest?

In summary, poor customer service and from what we can tell, not great food that may be served second hand. Aside from the spice issue their wontons (the only thing we could eat) were terrible. There are way better Thai options out there in the twin cities.

Diner Review №92

Flavorful sweet and sour chicken entree.

Diner Review №95

Great experience. Clean. Good food. Great staff. Very friendly. Would definitely go back.

Diner Review №96

My family has been eating at Sawatdee Bloomington for over seven years and loves it. The food is always excellent, and the servers and atmosphere very pleasant. We order from the menu, where there are so many options, including vegetarian. The servers answer our questions completely. It is a spacious place with a lot of windows. Thank you, Sawatdee Bloomington, for being our favorite family go-to restaurant!

Diner Review №97

Wonderful food. Thanks for warning about the level of spice level of the levels of heat.

Diner Review №98

Diner Review №99

Charged 20% gratuity for party of 5.

Diner Review №100

Clean, spacious, and nicely-decorated restaurant. Fantastic food on the buffet and on the menu. The Massaman Curry was fantastic, the Pad Thai was delicious, and the Fresh Spring Rolls were really good (no cilantro, though, which for some is a plus)! The service was very friendly and very helpful. Limited desert options on the buffet, just cookies. Many options for food on the buffet - a soup, fresh melon, salad, fresh spring rolls with chicken, white and fried rice, wontons, egg rolls, and 4 or 5 different entree options, (plus dipping sauces). We ordered the sticky rice with mango as well and loved it! Children all enjoyed, even the most picky ones!

Diner Review №101

Diner Review №102

Enjoyed the family restaurant style with a fun and friendly staff.

Started off with curry puffs which were unbelievable. Would highly recommend as they are crunchy and when dipped in sweet and sour, hit all spots.

Ordered pad Thai and for an MN fella 2 was plenty of spice. It was delicious! Also had duck curry which was melt in your mouth good. The silky coconut milk combined with perfectly cooked rice and veggies was just right!

Diner Review №103

Very average Thai food. Neither good nor bad

Diner Review №104

Diner Review №105

Diner Review №106

Yum

Diner Review №107

Diner Review №108

Classic Thai food in a classic setting. Great lunch and dinner menus with all of the usual curry, stir fry, and noodle options, plus some of the less common salads and combinations that you only experience in Thailand or in the home of someone who has lived in Thailand.
Note to those who are spice-averse: I love a medium spicy curry, but I usually don't add any extra spice at Sawatdee because it is plenty spicy as is. In my experience the dishes with spice are typically spicy enough at the "as is/mild" condition here because it is prepared with authentic peppers/chilies and seasoned well.

Diner Review №109

Our family is staying at The Great Wolf Lodge, and we wanted some takeout from nearby. After reading great reviews, I ordered the Shrimp Pad Thai, and my husband ordered the Chicken Pad Thai. Both were absolutely delicious. Food was ready quick, portions were excellent, and leftovers tasted even better the following day!

Diner Review №110

The duck was absolutely everything!

Diner Review №111

Diner Review №112

Diner Review №113

Prob. One of the best rest. In Bloomington area.

Diner Review №114

Friendly and welcoming staff, authentic heat, outstanding food, well cleaned and maintained restaurant.

Diner Review №115

I have gone here for Thai food since I moved to Bloomington in 2015, because if you want Thai food you have to go downtown. The food is consistently adequate, and considering they control 100% market share on Thai food in Bloomington I'd say that is not a bad quality to have.

The atmosphere is casual, the staff is friendly, and the service is efficient. You can trust the spice levels, but if you want it very spicy let them know when you order.

I have recently moved back to Kansas City and you can't go more than 10 miles on the Kansas side or Missouri side, anywhere in the KC metro without seeing a Thai restaurant. I have Thai food once a week and still haven't been to all of them. I hope the Twin City's metro area starts attracting a more ethnic and diverse communities.

I suggest if you are in the area to stop by and try their food.

Diner Review №116

Awesome food with a variety of choices. You can pick a spice level but remember that's all relative. Highly recommend the Supenns fresh spring rolls. Very fresh!

Diner Review №117

Delicious food, especially loved the mango sticky rice!

Diner Review №118

This may very well be my favorite Thai food establishment and my favorite location of this chain. They knock it out the park for food, services and subtly. Quick, caring, and casual. All things necessary for a good meal and good service. Would come back more than again.
I'm thinking again and again.

Best Pad Thai in the entire Twin Cities! The. Best! Get the beef. The flavors and quality are perfection. Friendly service. Soooo so good!

Diner Review №125

My go to is chicken laab and sticky rice. Fresh spring rolls are amazing.

Diner Review №126

We sat down, a waitress brought us waters and menus and never returned. We watched them bring others food, clear tables,,, never returned. We walked out, one woman briefly made eye contact with me on the way out oofda

Diner Review №127

Had pad Thai, a piece of egg shell was in with it and got caught in my teeth. The food was warm, not hot. Wasn't amazing.

Diner Review №128

We stop every time we're in the area. The food is ahhhhhhmazing!!!

Diner Review №129

Diner Review №130

You are seating yourself. A server came to give us water and asked us if we knew what we wanted to order when we didnt know you were supposed to grab them yourself when coming in.

Fresh spring rolls : Delicious! Fish sauce was pretty thick tho possibly from lots of sugar

Beef Pad See Yew: oh, this was so good! I was expecting Chinese Broccoli, not american broccoli.

#38: AH PAPAYA SALAD WITH THAI BEEF JERKY AND WHITE RICE. I demolished this so fast. Hot damn it was spicy when I only ask for one star but still soooooo amazing!!

Beef Meatball Pho: It well mellow.

Server brought our check shortly after we started eating like we were being rushed? But we took our time.

Diner Review №131

Holy Thai basil pork was excellent!

Diner Review №132

Diner Review №133

My neighborhood Thai food preference. Fresh spring rolls and Tom Yum are the best on the menu in my opinion.

Diner Review №134

Diner Review №135

Diner Review №136

Amazing spot! I ordered the Tom Yum soup and although I forgot to ask for it spicy it didn't need it whatsoever which was a sign that it was going to be even better with the spice! The spring rolls were also tasty especially when the wapper was holding the contents together. Overall amazing!

Diner Review №140

Pretty good beef pad Thai. Nice small place.

Diner Review №141

Always good food and service. Spice scale is a tick spicier than other places so I would order 1 level less than you normally do (you can always add more!) Sue's egg rolls are the best around!

Diner Review №142

Take out was great, pleasant staff. I highly recommend them.

Diner Review №143

Diner Review №144

We ordered a fairly simple order of , Curry, Pad Thai, fried rice, spring rolls, and cream cheese wontons.

The order was wrong three times in one night, first time they forgot the won tons, second time forgot the pad Thai, and third time when he mentioned he would toss in something for us having to drive back there he gave us cold wings that was originally in the first order.

To offer nothing because of your error 3 times is absurd. While I applaud you for being friendly, you didn't seem to have a good understanding at messing up our order.

There are a lot of options in Minneapolis got Thai food, I will choose another place and will not be going back here.

Diner Review №145

It would be nice to go to a Thai restaurant and actually get Thai food and flavors not toned down watered down AmeriThai it’s rather disappointing even when I order in Thai language that I wouldn’t get legit spices and taste 🤔😔

Diner Review №146

Diner Review №147

This place is hit or miss. Literally. I’ve been there when the food was amazing and when the food was garbage. I can’t even say the best time of day to go. The people there are alwaynice

Diner Review №148

Diner Review №149

This is my second time here, figured I'd give it a second try before leaving the negative review. Here is the deal, everything is great except for, they don't have mint here, I mean, a Thai restaurant without mint. They even have Lob seon and Papaya salad here but no mint. I thought the first time they just forgot but it turned out they just don't have it. I feel slightly indignant 😂

Diner Review №150

Really good Pad Thai, wings were really good too!!

Diner Review №151

Diner Review №152

The green curry pasta/noodle #65?was good. I ordered it medium high hot, with beef, but the beef was weird. I'd stay with a veggie or chicken option next time and just go medium low hot. Our other order was a veggie stir fry with ginger added. It was very good 👍. This place is a good Thai option to add to Joy's in Lakeville. I will eat here again.

Diner Review №153

It is an small beautiful place, service is excellent and the food it's tasteful, delicious, people please, make this restaurant the best in town, i recommend to eat there.

Diner Review №157

Diner Review №158

Always excellent.

Diner Review №159

I think I’m going to order ten egg rolls. They’re so so good! We also love their Thai fried rice. Spicy level is from 1-5 we usually do 2 or 3.

Diner Review №160

I was in from California on business, saw the amount of ratings and high score so I gave it a try.

Tom Yum Shrimp Soup - 3 mushroom, huge chunks of ginger and lemongrass (rather than the amount you would normally see for flavor), and MUSHY shrimp. The texture of the shrimp was so bad, I gagged before I sprat it out.

Pad See Ew, the sauce was rancid and the chicken was gamey. Inedible.

I spent over $50 and ended up eating none of it.

I travel a lot and there is some Thai food better than others but this is the first time I was not able to eat it.

I had to review to be fair to the next traveler picking their Thai food based on reviews.

Diner Review №161

Diner Review №162

They were very quick

Diner Review №163

Meh... I go for the Pho.. Nothing to write about kinda expensive for the quality. No sweet basil, no jalapeño, a small slice of lemon that was a skin peel, been sprouts looked a little dated. Not worth the money spent

Diner Review №164

Food was very tasty. The spice was just the right amount. Lots of options. If you looking for good Thai food try this place!!

Diner Review №165

Usually Thai places make egg rolls with rice paper wrapping which comes out of the fryer nice and crispy flaky. These are closer to the Chinese style with a thick chewy outside which is just not my favorite. The filling was good though. The pad see yew was made with regular broccoli rather than Chinese which is a small thing but probably my fav part of that dish. The rest of the dish was lovely and well made. Service was very quick and attentive. The prices were great and the interior was nice, especially the restrooms.

I'm sure the food is decent but the ice "Thai Tea" drink was pure *syrup* 😑 so... for people with a sweet🧁🦷 you're good👍 but basically you're paying for (sugar+milk) $6.45😑 so you can guess my disappointment. Recommendations: No, don't buy the "Thai Tea" go to = Joy's restaurant nearby.

Diner Review №188

Diner Review №189

Good ingredients ruined by too much spice. Our meal began with promise, delicious thai ice tea, and authentic style beef jerky, followed by a tasty first mouthful of my favorite Thai soup.
Then it hit too much chilli, made the rest of the food impossible to finish for both me and also my Thai wife. We had asked for medium ( 3 out of 5 ) on their spiciness scale. What we got was some of the spicest Thai food I have ever eaten. Including my 10 years of eating in Thailand's South and Northeast.

Please check the spice level carefully before ordering.

Diner Review №190

Diner Review №191

Tastes like home! Quick service and delicious food. The staff is super friendly also!

Diner Review №192

Food is fresh and it is one of the few Thai options nearby. On more than one occasion I have ordered the same item (spicy noodles like the dish drunken noodles) and one time I ordered medium and it was unbearably spicy (I like spicy food and have decent tolerance), so the next time I ordered medium-mild and there was 0 spice and the dish was bland. It was a bit disappointing for me and I’m not sure what spice level to order next time. The egg rolls are very good though! My dining partner doesn’t like spice at all and was very happy with their food.

Randomly tried Sawatdee Bloomington on a date night, loved the food (and the willingness to make spicy actually spicy!), the availability of space and tables, and the kind helpful staff. It quickly became our go to for Thai food because of all of these things. Since then, the experience and the food has been consistently wonderful. Highly recommend!

Diner Review №195

I was here for lunch a couple weeks ago and the food was absolutely delicious. Our waitress, the owner, quickly brought us warm bread with oil and a salad as well.

We had to share our experience. We had a long day flying and had a long drive home. We had ordered take out but the staff allowed us to eat there instead. They were friendly and helpful. Made us feel very welcome even though they were closing in 10 minutes.

The place was VERY clean. The food was wonderful. We asked for medium spice, it definitely delivered. Our Tom Kha soup had great depth of flavor. We really appreciated the ginger and lemongrass. The spring rolls were some of the best we had ever eaten. The Pad Thai was good as well. Definitely would recommend and would visit again.

Diner Review №200

Great service and food. Glad I only went with a 2 on the spicy scale though.
